Summary

This episode features an interview with Becky, who recounts her sighting of a white Bigfoot near Hannibal, Missouri in April 2017 while driving on Highway 36. The discussion covers details of the encounter, her subsequent research and track findings, and how the experience transformed her from skeptic to believer in Sasquatch existence.

Insights
  • Eyewitness accounts of Bigfoot sightings often occur during nighttime driving on highways near forested areas, suggesting these creatures may cross major roadways during evening hours
  • Skeptics can become believers through direct personal experience, with sighting witnesses often conducting independent research and seeking community validation afterward
  • Bigfoot research communities leverage family networks and social media platforms to document and investigate sightings, creating distributed research networks
  • Physical evidence like footprints serves as a secondary validation mechanism that reinforces eyewitness testimony and converts family members to believers
  • Bigfoot sightings are reported across diverse geographic regions and color variations, challenging the monolithic perception of these creatures as uniformly black
Trends
Growing grassroots Bigfoot research communities utilizing YouTube and online platforms for documentation and investigationIncreased family participation in cryptozoological research, with relatives of witnesses becoming active investigatorsNighttime field research expeditions becoming more common among Bigfoot enthusiast groups despite safety concernsDocumentation of tree structures and footprint progressions as standardized evidence-gathering methodologiesSightings of non-black Bigfoot variants challenging traditional descriptions and expanding the phenotype understandingHighway corridor sightings near river systems and conservation areas emerging as hotspots for Bigfoot activityPost-sighting lifestyle changes among witnesses, including increased outdoor observation and nature engagement

I know that you want to listen to your podcast, so I will keep it short. Because if you think it's important to make a duurzame keuze, can ASR maybe help? Well, I think, how then? Well, for example, when you're doing something to do with the things you love to do with Schade. Will you know more about the instructions where a duurzaam schade-restal can be? Go to asr.nl slash duurzamekeuzes. This does ASR for you and a duurzame samenleving. ASR does it. So, then you can now listen to your podcast. Hey everyone and welcome to Sasquatch Theory. In this episode I will be interviewing Becky who saw a white Sasquatch while traveling to Hannibal, Missouri. I think it's a very fascinating encounter because we often hear stories of them getting caught in the open during the nighttime hours and of course next to roadways. Could you imagine driving on a highway in a forested area and seeing an upright walking creature that is not supposed to exist? I haven't seen one from a road myself, but I am always keeping my eyes open. I will often catch glimpses of structures off the back roads that always lead me to new clues and discoveries. If you have had a Bigfoot sighting in Missouri or anywhere in North America, please email me at sasquatchtheory at outlook.com. I also wanted to mention if you have been in contact with me before in the comments, please keep in mind I don't always see the replies, so be sure to email me. A good friend of mine recently sent in some new audio gear that will take the channel to a whole new level. I want to say thank you so much, Wendy, and we will be filming a new documentary at her property this May in North Carolina. So in the future, we should see the audio and the videos improve drastically. As for the long-distance sounds, I am doing some research to see what type of parabolic microphone worked the best. Anyways, with all that being said, let's dive into this next interview with Becky. All right, Becky, welcome to Sasquatch Theory, and it's a pleasure finally having you on the show. Thank you. It's nice to be here, Miguel. Yeah, absolutely. So you mentioned that you had some encounters that took place in Missouri. Could you run me through those? Yes. Um, yes, I did have one encounter in Missouri. Um, I, this was actually, um, back in 2017, April 22nd. Um, this was in the evening and I was with my husband and my older daughter and we were actually going from St. Joseph, Missouri on Highway 36. We were traveling across Highway 36 going back towards Illinois. So we were going from St. Joseph, which going toward Illinois would be east. And I was actually driving. My husband and I had taken turns driving. We had been in a softball tournament all day long and gotten up, you know, early that morning to get out there. And we were headed back to Illinois at the time. That's where his family lived. And I'm from Texas, so we were just, we were traveling that weekend. But I do remember that I had told him that, you know, he told me pull off when you get to Hannibal, Missouri. So I told him I would drive for a little while. So I started driving and it was in the evening. So I know that when I drive, I'm always checking the time and I'm checking my surroundings. I know where I'm at. And I knew that I would get to Hannibal about 11 o'clock at night. So my sighting occurred about 10 30 I would say 10 30 at night and I was fully awake wide awake and I was so I was about 30 miles west of Hannibal Missouri and I knew I had about 30 minutes to go um and just driving along there was a semi truck in front of me I do know I do remember that and um there's a median to the left of me and all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I I saw to the left of me standing at the edge of the comedian, I saw this white, shaggy, long, shaggy hair creature with standing on two legs. So when I first saw him, he was just, it was like he was just looking at me, just staring at me, waiting for me to pass by so he could cross the road. I remember there wasn't anybody coming to pass me. So, I don't know if you know the area at all, but there's two lanes of traffic going one way, and then there's a median, and then there's two lanes of traffic going the other way. so there was no one to the left of me I was in the far right lane and when I saw uh what I saw he was standing at the edge of the median so no one was in the lane to the left of me so I would say that I was probably maybe 10 to 12 feet away um you know like full a full car a little bit more the car away from them. And so I had to take a double take because I could see this. It was about four feet tall. Um, I could make out the two arms, two legs, stocky build, very muscular like, um, that, like I said, this, the long shaggy hair, I could make out the face. I couldn't make out, I didn't really have a chance to make out the fingers or the hands, but the feet were all covered with white, so white hair. Because I could definitely see this was standing on two legs and arms were hanging down. The eyes were like a red glare, just glaring at me and black nose. and so I took a double take because I was just shocked I was completely shocked and I remember as soon as I looked back and took that double take I remember saying pretty loud in the car I was just like, what the heck was that? And nothing. Silence. My husband was sound asleep in the backseat. My daughter was sound asleep in the passenger seat. I looked over at her to see if she was awake. And she kind of, you know, turned her head. And I said, did you see that? And she did. She's just like, what? What, mom? I didn't see anything. And she just went right back to sleep. And so for, I would say about the next 10 miles that I'm driving down the highway, I was going over everything in my head. Every single thing, every, I was going over every animal I could think of that was white because I was trying to rule out, you know, what this was. I was thinking, well, I know it wasn't a deer. You know, what is white? Then I was saying, what is white? Because I after I went over, it's the normal the normal animals I would see at night. I would see deer, coyotes, you know. Things that armadillos, sometimes things like that on the roadside. But I could not think of one animal that I had ever seen in my life that this was. it wasn't I was thinking oh was it a bear I was you know there's white bears no it was not a bear um was it a goat goats are white no it wasn't a goat it wasn't a mountain lion it wasn't another type of wild cat it was not anything um so for probably the next 10 minutes like I said I just kept going over all these things in my head and none of them fit the description and then it's just like this white bulb came on and I just just something just hit me and I just thought oh my goodness Sasquatch that's all I could think of I mean I just it had to be in my mind there was there was no other explanation that I had just saw Sasquatch you know I would say about four foot, my best guess, four foot, maybe five, but not much, you know, not much taller than that. And how much prior knowledge, knowledge did you have of Bigfoot before your encounter? Um, for my encounter, I, I wouldn't say I didn't have very, very much I know that you want to listen to your podcast, so I'll keep it short. Because if you think it's important to make a sustainable choices, can ASR maybe help? Now I hear you think, how then? Well, for example, when you're selling the products that you love, you're not going to be a harm. Will you know more about the insurance where a sustainable health care is? Go to asr.nl slash duurzamekeuzes. This is ASR for you and a sustainable society. ASR does it. So we can now listen to your podcast brother Mike who is just very much into Bigfoot And I would always say probably maybe he a little bit obsessed I don know I mean he just so he would call or he would text me every once in a while. And at that time, the show Finding Bigfoot was pretty popular. And we both work pretty stressful jobs. So just to get a little stress relief sometimes at night, I would watch it if he would say, oh, you know, I'm watching such and such Finding Bigfoot. And so I turn it on just to see what he was watching. And I would think this is so, this is just so dumb. It's just fake. And, but, you know, it was good stress relief at the time, but I didn't do any studying up on it, or I really didn't do any research at that time. I didn't, um, I didn't do any reading. Although after I had my sighting that night, I, I could not sleep. So I was looking up all kinds of things, um, to read about and, you know, found other, um, other descriptions. Just, you know, I just looked up a lot of different things just to see, because I thought, I'm going to have to tell my brother about this because, you know, we had these conversations. He would say, you know, a lot of times, you know, that he would just tell me, I knew that he believed in Bigfoot. I knew that he had had this fascination since he was younger. and that's about the extent to my prior knowledge. Yeah, and for the people listening that don't know who Mike is, he's in the group Understanding Bigfoot. They have a YouTube channel and I have a few videos with them out in the field. You guys should check it out. Yes. But I have some questions I typed up here. Okay. How close were you to Hannibal, Missouri? I would say about 30 miles. My best guess would be about 30 miles west of Hannibal, which is around this town called Honeywell. And then about 40 miles west of Hannibal, there's a town called Shelbina. So I was, my best guess would, I was near Shelbinoe or Honeywell because I knew that I would be pulling off in Hannibal at, you know, at 11 p.m. at night. And I knew that I had about 30 miles to go because I always watched the road signs. So I knew the last road sign, you know, I had just seen it said Hannibal 30 miles. And I do know that there's, I've looked on the map since then, and there's a Honeywell conservation area. And North Fork of the Salt River passes through there. I had been through Hannibal, Missouri before a couple different times. And I know there's a lot of forest area over there. I could remember seeing that. you know, in the daylight, but this was at night, so it was pretty much pitch black. I couldn't see anything except for the semi-truck in front of me. I could see the head, you know, the taillights of the semi-truck, but other than that, I mean, when I caught a glimpse of this Bigfoot heat, you know, it was definitely white. It was, you know, stood out. That's what stood out to me, and I was just in awe. Okay. So when he was at the edge of the highway, did your headlights hit him and light him up? Is that what happened? I am guessing that's what happened, but I don't know. I mean, I don't know because I was going straight and so he's off to the left of me, so I'm not really sure. you know it's not like the headlights were straight at him right you know it's off to the left of me so it was enough to see him though yes enough to see him um playing i mean i could see him playing his day i yes that i was driving and it's a good thing that no one was coming right beside me because i turned my head to take a double take and look back at him as for as long as i could yeah could you see any eye shine um i could i just remember the glare the tint the the the glare was like it was just like red so i could see some you know shine around that i mean i could i could make that's what i could make out um because and to me i it wasn't i didn't have a feeling of fear at all um of course i was in my car but i just had this feeling just that you know i'm just waiting for you to go by so i can cross the road that's that's that was my experience that's how i felt he was standing there just patiently waiting for me to to drive by so he could cross over did he have the conical shaped head or more of a round head it it was it was more of the round the round head um as far as for what i you know as much as i could tell with the just the long white shaggy hair coming off but it was more of a round rounder shaped head Okay. You mentioned that it had long arms. Now, were they extremely long compared to a human? No, I wouldn't say extremely, extremely long. I would say he was pretty proportionate in size. I mean, you know, like what a bigger human stocky build would be. Yeah, yeah. Did he look evil to you or menacing or did he look pretty chill? I guess that's the only way I can come up to. Yeah, he did not look evil. I'd say, yeah, he looked pretty chill to me. He did not look evil to me. I mean, if I could have just gotten out right then and there, I wouldn't have been afraid. Now, how big was he? I mean, was he like a juvenile or was he like 1,100 pounds? He must have been a juvenile because as far as weight, I don't know what a juvenile would weigh, but, um, you know, I mean, my best guess would probably be about four foot tall. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, I would think that's a juvenile. Yeah. I mean, could, could a baby stretch him out to five foot tall, but that's about. Okay. Yeah. Um, let's see, what else do I have here? I know you want to listen to your podcast, so I'll keep it short. Because if you think it's important to make a duroze choices, can ASR maybe help? I think, how then? For example, when you're doing a lot of things that are you love to do. Will you know more about the insurance where a duroze schade-restal can be? Go to asr.nl slash duurzamekeuzes. This does ASR for you and a duroze. AASR does it. So, then you can now listen to your podcast. How did this encounter or experience affect you after the fact? Well, I guess it just increased my curiosity a little bit about Bigfoot. Before that, I wouldn't say that I was a non-believer. I was just a little skeptical about it, you know. Um, I sometimes would tell my brother, I didn't know if he was, you know, I don't know if you really know what you're talking about, you know? Um, but I will say my curiosity, you know, I increased quite a bit and I, I became a believer for sure. I believe that. view has it changed your view like on the world i mean anything like that well um i don't i don't know um how to really describe that if it's really changed my view but on the world although i you know there's a lot of crazy things going on in the world and especially since then and there were then but especially since then there definitely are um I have it's changed that changed a little bit in the fact that there is way more out there than I was even ever thinking about and um I I feel like um sometimes you know all we do or sometimes all I do a lot is work work work and you know you have to work and um take care of kids and you know there's all these things to do and I it's really opened my eyes I'm just amazed um the more I started learning and then the more um I have read and have met people um that have actually had encounters um there's just way more out there in the world and if he was a juvenile there had to be parents somewhere so who knows you know I'm thinking well who knows how tall they would have been um since then I have been more observant I think of the outdoors and when I just when I am on vacations and different things like that when we go to different places and we do different you know hiking or just we near rivers or since then I kind of done a little bit of my own research, you know, and I've found some tracks, and then that, that opened my eyes even more, that, you know, something had to make these huge footprints. um I will say after I had my sighting when I told my brother Mike about it um I think at first he thought I was pulling his leg or something and I was actually texting him and telling him as much as I knew and I didn't tell him right away because it was so late at night when we got to where we were going that night, and then we were traveling the next day and traveling home, so it, I think it wasn't until I got home, because, you know, my family thought I was crazy, they just, they, they really thought, you know, I didn't know what I was talking about, they thought I was crazy, I did not, they were just trying to tell me that I must've been seeing things. Um, but I remember after I, you know, Mike called me as soon as he could and we talked about it. And I think, you know, he, he was pretty much in shock too, that I saw what I saw and he was, he seemed, he seemed to be so excited. Well, he didn't tell me at the time what he was going to do, but I don't even know if he knew what he was going to do but I guess he decided to report my sighting without telling me so what happened was um I don't know it wasn't too long after that he called me and said would you have time to talk to um Brian Woods who's an investigator out of Kansas City about your sighting and he said I forgot to tell you I reported it and I guess he reported it I guess he just filled out the report and reported it um on the I think on the BFRO website um I'm not sure that one you know he he gets on there he would get on that's another thing he He would get on there a lot on the website and always, you know, tell me different things that he saw on the website. And he would ask where certain towns were near me if he saw sightings reported that were near where I lived and stuff like that. So we always had those conversations, too, prior to this. But he so I guess when he was called, he had to he had to tell him that it wasn't him, that it was his sister. that song so he had to talk to the person to get firsthand knowledge so yeah well that's uh your brother's duty as a bigfoot researcher and an interviewer yeah his sister had a sighting he's gotta take action i guess i guess so i guess so so okay so after you had this sighting did you go out and investigate more and try to look for answers you told me you found a track or a set of tracks um i think it was maybe it was a little while after that but it what i did i did do some um investigating just online and um i know one of the questions that brian woods had asked me i remember he asked me if I felt like if I thought the appearance of this Bigfoot that I saw looked scrawny or did he look healthy and I thought he looked very healthy and so I remember at the time trying to see if I could find any images that were similar um but I didn't really get a chance to do any research until um after I had I did some with with my brother Mike a couple couple summers ago when I was with him not this last summer but summer before that in an area that he goes to and then he was kind of telling me some of the things that they do so as far as when you look you know looking for tracks and looking for, if you find one, you might find two or three more. So you're looking for that progression of footsteps, which I was amazed at because I saw a few of those with him. And then, so there's a river, there's a river south of us where we live. I live in North Texas, so So I think it was back in 2020, it was when everything was shut down, you know, the first go around for COVID where everything got shut down. And so we have some campgrounds down near Glen Rose, which is south of us in Texas, south where we live. and the Brazos River is down there, and it runs right there along the campgrounds. So my family went there one weekend just to go canoeing and hang out and just spend some time at the river. And so I decided that I would do some of my own research down there and walk down the river. this river that I had been to this campground every summer for, you know, the past several years, like, I don't know, I'd say maybe 10 years, because it was where our church would go for church camp, so since camps were closed down that summer of 2020, our family was just down there for that weekend. Um, and so I decided to go down the river and look around and do some of my own research looking for footprints. And I found some up near the, where the, the gravel, the gravel bar at the river, and then up on further up on the grass. And so I, and then I I didn't have a tape measure or anything with me, so I found a couple sticks, and I basically just marked on the stick and put the stick down next to the print. I remember taking a few pictures and sending them to my brother, telling them, you know, look what I found here, and thought they looked pretty legitimate. meant. And then I, I had a couple of my daughters were with me at the time and, and my son. So three of my kids were down there at the time with me, but only one of them seemed really interested. And I think, you know, I took her back down there with me and, and she, you know, she, she started to think maybe mom wasn't so crazy after all, because something definitely made those footprints. Do you like to listen to your podcast? I guess I just have limited time to get away. Um, right now I'm just counting the, counting the days. I think it's almost down to days is actually a few more years till I can retire. But I mean, I, I've got to get up there. Um, but I do plan on, I think we're planning in, in the summer, early summer, I think. Um, usually, usually when I do get up there is to see family and I always get together with Mike, but when we can, um, but I can't wait to get up there and because really since, um, even since I have been with him, when I was with him to the area that he does a lot of his research, um, we kind of went out during the day. We went out in the mornings and we found several tracks and it really wasn't until after that and this was a couple years ago and it really wasn't until shortly after that that he decided to start going out more and he was up there in the evenings because I think at first he was a little scared to go up there in the evenings and stay all night and I would tell him all the time why are you so scared. I, you know, I would love to be able to do that, and, um, but I think, you know, then he just, some of his buddies did it, and so he decided it wasn't that bad after all, and, and then he would, um, tell me all these noises he would hear at night, and different, different things. He's told me so many stories and um the he started talking to me about some of the gifting they did with you know in there there may be multiple sasquatches around that area and so um you know I just I'm so intrigued and I I keep telling him I want to go experience all that he he tells me you know he he doesn't have the experience I have with the sighting, but I always tell him I don't have all of those experiences that he had since my sighting I would love to experience all of that I just I would love to be able to communicate with one Yeah. Yeah. That'd be really neat. And I think if you come down, it'd be a really good time and we could all sit around and talk about Bigfoot and maybe the same thing will happen as last time, you know, on the show, they, they came in, but yeah. I wanted to mention at nighttime, it's a completely different ball game. You know, it's, you think you're brave until you get out there by yourself. And then you don't really want to go too deep into the woods. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't be by myself. You'd be there. Mike would be there. I don't know. You know, maybe the other guys would be there. But yeah, I do say that. I mean, I definitely wouldn't want to go out in the woods by myself. um but you know i i probably wouldn't know the first thing to do if if one of them you know if i really came face to face with one but um but it is definitely something i'm interested in yeah i heard bill's story about camping out there at nighttime and yeah yeah that was pretty interesting yeah yeah I I heard I've heard I've heard that one too and um but I I know I watched the documentary you did when you were there and you know you kind of ventured off on your own and um that was pretty brave yeah I mean I wasn't too far from the fire but yeah still closer to the bigfoot how close were you when when he uh broke that tree i mean to me it sounded like it was 10 to 12 feet but it was probably honestly like 20 to 30 yards but i don't know it felt like it was that close but it's hard to say because it was so dark and i don't know like i don't think it wasn't a full moon that day like actually there was no moon so it was pretty pretty dark outside you just couldn't really see anything so i just couldn't tell yeah wow i mean that's that's incredible too i would love to experience something like that yeah i know um when i when my family went on vacation last summer we went up to during we went over to Durango, Colorado, and we rode the Durango Silverton train, so when we were, and I know, like, when you go in the gift shops and stuff in Durango and Silverton, you see Bigfoot everything, you know, Bigfoot key chains, Bigfoot coffee mugs, and um uh Bigfoot you know everything socks and so you know that's Bigfoot country up there um but when we were on the train back I I don't know why I didn't look for this on the way up but we were going from Silverton back to Durango I just sat there just amazed and just I was just looking in the woods and the trees and I was just looking for tree structures and there were certain places along that route that I saw some amazing tree structures of the the trees that they had to have been placed in that particular way that they were there like there's and and it was so amazing that there was no human that could place those trees the way they were it was you know it was pretty neat. It made me want to just get a backpack and get off and go venture out and, and just hike around and look for evidence. Yeah. Did you find yourself constantly staring into the woods after your encounter, kind of just seeing if you could maybe see them again or? I did. I grew up in Missouri, and one of the things I miss the most about home is the wooded areas. We used to go out to the Merrimack River all the time in my family. my dad has a clubhouse on the Merrimack River now, but when I was growing up, my grandma and grandpa did. And so from like Memorial Day to Labor Day, every weekend we were at the river. So that's something that I never really, you know, thought of. But what I miss is at night, sitting around the fire and then hearing all of the noises, just the insects and all that, you know, the frogs and all the other noises you hear. And I mean, I never once thought that there could be Bigfoot, you know, somewhere, Bigfoot somewhere in the area. And since then, You know, I, I've read about, I've heard your encounters. I've heard Mike's encounters. I've heard other people's encounters where there are tree knocking and other type of, um, you know, noises and hollering communication going on. So that's what I would love to experience. Yeah. What do you think the knocking is? Do you think it's communication? I think it's some form of communication. Yes. Yeah, I agree. I'm not exactly sure, but I do think that. Do you think they migrate? Do they stay in place? I think they just, I don't know. I think they live in communities. Like they just kind of pick a place and they build their community there. Yeah. But I just think there's, there's got to be so many of them out there. the more I read about it. And I know my brother has said that on some of his shows, I've heard him reference that they're, you know, they come in all colors. And I think there's some truth to that. I didn't used to believe that. I used to think that they were just black, you know, that's what you see. that's what you see pictured everywhere but i saw a white one and and i know i know what i saw um yeah so i don't know now the area that you saw them was it pretty wooded or were there a lot of fields around and just a lot of different habitat diversity or was it just main like mainly the all woods the area that i saw him yeah well um it was dark so i guess it was dark but i do know last a year ago in in december we drove through that way in the daylight and um it seemed kind of um it was just really wooded parts of it were desolate um but when you got to that conservation area which was around where we were I I tried to pay attention you know through that drive I was not driving that time I was just a passenger this was a year ago going across that same stretch of highway and um you know i didn't see anything then but it seemed to be more of a wooded area right um i don't know it was probably about i don't know four five months ago i got a report in the comments of one of my youtube videos and somebody said that them and their family saw a Bigfoot running next to their vehicle on I-44 between St. James and Rolla and I tried to get them to talk about it but they they wouldn't budge. Wow yeah wow I've driven that highway countless number of times um going from here from Texas where I live, North Texas to back home. And I know right where that's at. I mean, that's crazy. I, I would, wow. I would like to hear that story. Yeah. Yeah. If you're listening, I want to hear this story. Yeah. I want to hear that story. Cause I know right where that's at. Um, and I have, um, I have a cousin who used to live in that area, St. James, and then used to, Well, years ago when I was a little girl, her and her family, her husband lived in Rolla. And I do know there, there's some countryside out there too, because they lived on a farm out there. Yeah. Yeah. From Rolla all the way to Salem, Missouri, and even past that, it's pretty wooded. Yeah, it is. Yep. Absolutely. um well i think that that pretty much wraps up all the questions i had since it was just one encounter but yeah i just i just had the one one encounter um like i said the other have just been been fascinated with um looking for evidence so i'm excited to do more of that i haven't been able to do a whole lot of that. Yeah. Well, I hope you get to get out and enjoy nature and reach out and maybe meet up with us later on in the future. Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. Okay, Becky.
