Joan, by the way, Joan Jones in the newsroom, Sam Weatherford producing today. Good morning. When and all Joan is this extension of the Tax deadline in the state of Tennessee. Is this new or did this happen? They know I think about this for for a few weeks. That's what I thought kind of came back Because of April 15th yesterday. So yeah, they're just talking about it. They extended it because of the ice storms. Yeah So there's no reason to bust my arse to get my taxes done by April 15th. Well, listen, it's not for everybody Well, then it's a good thing I busted my arse to get my taxes done by April 15th. I don't care June 8th is the new extension for people available to get the extension who gets the extension so eligible taxpayers penalty abatement, let's see I Need to dig into it. This is this is why whenever I say hey Joan Jones, I cringe What is it gonna ask me now? Oh The tax relief would be expanded to all 95 counties So maybe that's the story that it's expanded to all 95 counties. Very good. How did you do in taxes, Joan? Did you guys get money back or do you have to pay? We have to pay. No, you do not We talked about this a couple of weeks ago. We have to pay four thousand dollars Yeah, we owe big time. What happened? I I never I never Hold enough back because I don't want the government to hold my money Without interest all that time. So I so how does it feel now Joan that you have to write a check to uncle Sam for four thousand dollars Usually that bad This happened to be a bad year. What did John say when you Order on Amazon for months. It's wrong. It's wrong. It's causing a problem Is he taking out taking away your Amazon privileges? Yes. Wow. Yeah That's pretty hardcore. Yeah, okay. Yeah, well, I think clearly Joan you have a couple of different problems number one is You math sucky. Oh, I'm I'm not a math or and number two is you are really good at Ordering on Amazon not my household not my neighborhood, you know, you know the Amazon driver by name You and my wife have that in common. Yeah is the really good at ordering on Amazon Yeah, I have by the way have had my Amazon privileges revoked in the house. Oh you have yeah, what'd you do? Oh, you know what I did way too many Peaky hats Yeah, she said enough Yeah, so she is now monitoring my my Amazon because she never monitored me before monitored me before on Amazon Well, you have to do hats in moderation That's what she said I mean literally that's what you that's not a joke. That's what she said you have to do It's one of those items. It's a slow accumulation Maybe one every like three to six months. I didn't know this but you know these peaky hats They come in seasons because so they do have some for spring and summer as well It makes sense. I mean, yeah, the wool ones would be most useful in the winter You know who you really need is a sponsor someone who makes or can facilitate the delivery of those hats I wish that you could have a mandus spring line and a mandus summer line I would the problem is nobody knows me like mandus holiday specials nobody The name mandus is not a brand anyway, so How'd you do Sam real quick on taxes? Did you do good? Oh, yeah, did real good. Yeah, Sam did great Okay, good for you. We did we did good. I mean we we what did you say said a bottle gun? Oh, that's right. You bought the gun We did good we we're gonna get money back, but that's because I am the exact opposite of Joan. I Had to pay a couple of years many many years ago As I've said because I work multiple jobs even in my 20s didn't have enough taxes taken out I got screwed so Murphy show though. I heard him yesterday talking about how people were giving him crap because Apparently he has to pay I guess like a hundred and seventy seven bucks or something like that. I missed the entire story So no, but yeah, his point is that He's apparently good at math thing. So he was able to get it almost Perfect. Yeah, that is almost perfect. That's pretty good. That is like the bubble right in the center. Yeah, so good for Murphy show I think that There is a lot of people that Have what I would say PTT SD, you know a PT T SD is Post tax traumatic stress disorder. That's me. I wrote that down That's why I have more money coming out of my my paycheck then I truly need Well, I I do now Post tax traumatic stress disorder put a hashtag on it. I want a nickel every time somebody uses it well, I see I can speak for the differences in the different administrations tax brackets in the 2024-2025 filing we made less money and we owed the Biden administration tax bracket era $1,700 we made slightly more money and got Close to that back Okay, okay, so it helped out the people at the bottom is what I'm saying I've always though been like I am, you know in the past 20 25 years Regarding having more money taken out during the year so that I don't have any surprises come April so but but I can tell you that hmm, I Pay a lot of taxes man I pay a lot of taxes and so, you know for me when you start hearing about I've got a story today about how much the mainstream media has been ignoring the the fraud in places like California the places like Like Minnesota, you know, there's fraud in all of these various states I'm sure that this the fraud is rampant all across the country mainstream media refuses to cover it So I've got that as part of my presentation today One of my favorite stories though is The state of Tennessee and I'm not gonna do it here. I'm gonna do it a 535. This is a this is an award-winning tease Joan Yeah, okay at 535 the state of Tennessee is truly embracing inclusivity How is the state of Tennessee embracing inclusivity I cannot wait to tell you this Coming up. Do you know what I do know what this is Joan? I do dude. Do you know that don't say it? Don't blow the tease. I won't blow the tease, but I will I will allude to it with a tweet I saw the other day that is really resonated with me We kind of dark but just think about it if Japan has taught us anything it is that nuclear bombs are less destructive than diversity And the left in general look at how look at how Japan's recovered since 1945 So how is the state of Tennessee embracing truly embracing? Inclusivity I've got that story for you coming up at 535 on WTN We were talking about Taxes and how yesterday was tax day here in America I've got some words of wisdom from Scott Besson and that is coming up next Scott Besson actually has a message for you Joan, oh really? Yeah, he does. I want you to listen very closely This is Scott Besson telling you to take a look at your withholdings That it has been a fantastic tax season. It has gone smoothly It has gone efficiently from the point of view of the IRS, but most importantly It's been a great tax season for the American people Thanks to promises made promises kept the through the working families tax cuts The president has delivered the record refunds to the American people More than 45% of the filers of the returns that we have seen have had at least One of the poor president's signature policies no tax and tips no tax and overtime The deductions for our great seniors and the deductibility of interest on auto loans for American made cars And I will tell you that the biggest the one of those that Americans have taken is no tax and overtime And it's the American way if you want to work longer hours you get to keep more of your money and The with that we are seeing I want to encourage everyone out there watching today To change their withholding if they haven't already done so Because if you change your withholding then you will get an automatic real wage increase They own a weekly or a monthly basis and you will be able to keep more of your money this calendar year you got that job Got it. So what you need to do? Because we all like Scott Besson, right? So you got to listen to the Treasury Secretary and You need to change your and by the way, are you going to change your withholding? I did already you did already? Okay? Yeah See I've got to listen to them as well. I have not changed my withholdings and I think maybe I should It's difficult for me just because you know The way that we file and all the extra work that I'm getting a lot of extra work this year So and it's some not all of it is through this company So I'm getting bad. I'm doing a lot of contract work now on air and doing some some side productions So you're cheating on us is what you're saying No The company knows okay the company knows okay companies watching from a chair in the room Hey there, I'm Paula Pan. I help people make the smartest money decisions possible So, you know what's been great about being a saver for money And that money over the past couple of years has made a pretty good yield pre pandemic money was making zero Now it's actually making something but that's starting to go down down down I love how we can play the fact that inflation has been really high As a positive, but if you're a saver, you know what that means to change silver lining Joe silver lining afford anything Follow and listen on your favorite platform. Whatever So he wrote in on the super text line This is Philip said that tax verbiage has changed and if you're married filing jointly They're not holding out as much as they did last year So you either have to file single or married filing separately or just have them withhold the extra money So that's the problem All right Is that your problem or is that like whose problem is that was that your problem? Your problem if you have to pay four thousand dollars at the end of the tax season, but yeah, I mean that's that's what I did I just went in and you know said alright withhold X number of dollars more This year, you know with every paycheck, right? So, right? I'm still gonna file married filing jointly, but mm-hmm Mm-hmm, whatever it gets really complicated like in let me just say that we were prepared to do this because we We have to every year because we don't you know, that's how we file, right? So we were prepared for it. We just weren't prepared for that much Yeah, I've actually I'm now doing what I had to do before which is separate account and I'm gonna put money Into that account idea. I just in case because when I started doing all this extra stuff actually last year Amy was like you you cuz she does want to get screwed because of me. You know what I mean? So your liability You're not the only woman that said that to me Joan anyway moving right along the 517 Nationals morning news So yeah, Scott Besson basically saying give yourself a raise to tell you that it has been a fantastic tax season It has gone smoothly. It has gone efficiently from the point of view of the IRS but most importantly, it's been a great tax season for the American people Thanks to promises made promises kept the through the working families tax cuts The president has delivered the record refunds to the American people More than 45% but he said the filers of the returns that we have seen have had at least One of the poor president signature policies no time and I you know, I love that There does seem to be a bit of a debate as to whether or not People are actually Getting you know money back and remember we did that whole thing I've had a lot of people reach out to me and say remember, you know weeks ago months ago whenever it was Where you asked if if people were getting money back and a lot of people have been reaching out to me over the past I don't know month or so telling me that they did do their taxes and a lot of people did say that They got more money back than either they thought that they would and They're really happy some people of course it didn't work out all that well for them It just it depends on a lot of things it depends on your job. It depends on the deductions that you take and you know It's all that stuff whether or not you have kids you're riding off kids married single blah blah blah So but I mean if you listen to Scott Besant, it sounds like it worked out well for a lot of people But here's the deal. I know that There are a lot of people that Are down right now on the economy? We know the gas prices are so high we get all of that And yeah stuff is really expensive, but you know what there are other benchmarks to look at I know that some people don't want to hear this I know that there's some people that all they want to do is mire in the negative. I'm not gonna do that Unemployment rate still holding steady Average wages are still doing well Consumer spending is strong people seem confident in the economy confident enough at least to spend money The GDP still looks good But here's a big issue We still have not seen the impact of the war and the higher gas prices yet in some of these economic Indicators we'll see that in the next couple of months We could be seeing a big change in what some would call a somewhat rosy picture and Here's the other thing once the war ends then guess what's gonna happen The economy is gonna come warring back at least that's what I believe will happen I have talked about it been honest with you about what is going on with the Gas prices and how yes it could take a while for the gas prices to go back down because a lot of that Infrastructure has been impacted or destroyed in the Middle East and so that is something that we are going to have to deal with But again, not all is terrible in America. Here's more from Scott Besson This was during an interview that he did on CNBC late in the day yesterday. You're saying we've seen the worst of it here Look, I don't make market predictions But I think the market is like the sum of all the thinking and you know It is a group and markets live in the future and what I've tried to say is that this war will end I don't know whether it's three days three weeks three months, but it will end We will get on the other side of this and what we've seen in the inflation data core inflation is coming down it is noise noise the noisy energy component and We've seen oil oil prices collapse over the past two weeks Interest rates are coming back down. I Came out and said I think the Fed has been wrong on their inflation projections That is clear the core is coming down if they need for their own sanity to wait on interest rate cuts I understand it But I think that means they're just gonna be able to do more on the other side and in these means on the other side of this war Now there's a lot to unpack there, but but here's what he meant When he said that interest rates are coming down that is true with 30 year home loans were 6.45% now They are 6.3% and dropping so that is true What he said about core inflation has been dropping that is inflation minus I think it's energy and housing a year ago core inflation was at 3.3% during Biden It was up over 6% right now. It is a 2.5% year over year When he said that oil prices have collapsed over the last couple of weeks that is actually true It's still far higher than it was before the war gas prices at my local gas station though Have gone down like 10 to 12 cents over the last couple of days. So yes gas prices have fluctuated Somewhat I'm still not happy about it. However because of the ceasefire Gas prices have gone down a little bit Where some of these various gas stations across town? So the big question is when will gas prices go down to? pre-war numbers he's got that Opinion, I don't know if I believe him. I don't know if I'm gonna buy it But what does Scott Besson say about when gas prices will go down again? Joan, what do you think you ever you have a prediction as to when gas prices will get down to pre-war levels? What do you think? You know what? I think Scott Besson said at some point in that conversation that he thought it would be sometime between I think it was late June and September and I think that that's where I would tag it to September being the latest because that's when everyone starts to do early voting and You know that there's gonna be a huge push to get gas prices down to get food prices down So I think that's September point not that I think everything is so contrived But I do believe that there's gonna be an extreme effort to make sure the consumers are going. Oh, yeah President Trump is right. Everything's coming back down. All right. This is what Scott Besson says by the way You've got your mic on Sam go quick. I was just gonna say I agree Also, you've got the holidays coming up around the corner, right? Yep now, but here's the thing to keep in mind Don't mean to be a Danny Downer. However summertime is here and now usually during the summertime You do see gas prices rise anyway. You got a lot of people that are driving and so this is gonna be You know for a lot of people as they get ready to hit the road You're gonna have gas prices if they're already high it is really gonna hit the pocketbook This is what Scott Besson said yesterday that it would be very aggressive If we're gonna get to the three dollar a gallon gas by the summer So, what are we really gonna get three dollar a gallon gas? Well, I think that's gonna be the Up to how the negotiations go your president Trump said this morning that he thinks we're nearing the end the US Kept their side on the ceasefire. We've stopped firing the Straits of our booth have not been completely reopened. So we will see and I'm optimistic That during the summer we will see gas with a three in front of it sooner rather than later. I It's Bank Week here in DC so I've been meeting with a lot of my Middle Eastern counterparts the finance ministers and they all say that that Once the streets are open they can start pumping again within one week So not by summer like Memorial Day, but maybe by Labor Day Again, I'm optimistic that sometime between June 20th and September 20th that we can have three dollar a gas again And as I said this morning, too we are going to be watching the gas stations because they They raise prices very quickly when they stated it when the crude oil prices went up We hope they'll bring them down just as quickly as crude oil prices have come down We say come down substantially just in the past 10 days. Hi, there you go Joan Joan you nailed it between June 20th and September 20th. I believe is what Scott Besson said and He's being very specific. Yeah, like that's not vague. Is it is the first time I heard him say it I thought this is it and This is a an election related thing But they have to think that way they have to think in terms of I mean my goodness if prices are still up and we lose the midterms You know, you might as well kiss our butts goodbye Yes, I'm so pessimistic about if we lose. I know I know our pre-show meeting. Yeah, you were helped to bring me down Dan, you're a Danny downer. I was not you were the Joni downer as a matter of fact I was trying to be positive and optimistic and you come in. Oh, we're screwed That's where I came in this morning But you know what you just you've got to pay four thousand bucks don't call Sam So I understand why you're in a in a sour mood this morning. It's really about my Amazon being taken away That's exactly right that but you know what that just means that you can't buy any more gifts for your lovely husband That's what you got to tell him. Yeah, he knows better than that Um Joe and I've been hearing Sam be and moan For the past five minutes about something that I don't know if I necessarily care about But how do you feel about dead actors being resurrected by AI? Joan I so don't care about this and it makes me so mad. So are you talking about Val Kilmer? Val Kilmer, yeah, I guess what they're gonna do is say I'm gonna have to fill in the just very briefly because I Don't know Some people seem to be all like up in arms about this but I mean if Val Kilmer said you can resurrect me Then go ahead and do that and have me star in movies. I mean, I is that what's happening? Yeah, so his AI generated I guess avatar is going to start a historical drama called as deep as the grave It's an American historical action adventure film written and directed by court they've or he's starring Abigail Lawry Tom Felton Val Kilmer, I guess so like his daughter came out and said she was okay with it But the fan reaction has been This is not okay, especially watching his you know, he had throat cancer, right? Yes, and and and he was able to make an appearance in the new top gun Like that was a painful enough thing for fans to go through and now we're going to act like he's still alive I feel like it's psychological torture almost Joan It's insane There's plenty of actors in Hollywood that could do the work. I don't endorse a single one of them But resurrecting Val Kilmer who might love this. It's insane. It's silly Let the let the guy die like honestly. Do you know who voiced? Val Kilmer's voice in the latest top gun. I bet Sam knows wasn't this an electronic it was his son His son voiced. Yeah. Yeah, son was in the movie too, wasn't he? So the plot of this film doesn't make it any easier of a pill to swallow It's two archaeologists who seek out the canyon of the dead But the dead find them So I agree with Joan and then we're gonna move on I Agree with Joan once somebody's dead. Let them let them be dead. Yes. I mean, why would you want your legacy? He plays a priest in the movie. Why would you want your legacy? Possibly tarnished by a movie that you actually have no control over. Do you know what I mean? like for me if I were an actor and Somebody wanted to use my whatever I would say no because I don't know the quality of this movie and I can't help necessarily whether or not this movie is gonna be good or bad because they're simply using Effectively an image of me and so I just I would not allow this and if I if I were Val Kilmer Knowing what I know about how how very specific he was and and how like he didn't accept a lot of scripts, right? I mean, I what I know about Val Kilmer is he was very specific on what he would The kind of scripts that he would do because he considered himself, you know an actor, you know what I'm talking about so I Just if I were Val Kilmer, there's no way that I would like this But apparently he decided that it was okay Maybe maybe he agreed to do this by the way before he died because he just died what a couple years ago Yeah, and you're right. He's actually known for being highly selective Yeah, often demanding and deeply committed to specific roles. You know what I bet you AI Val Kilmer is a lot easier to work with Then he was when he was alive. Is that wrong to say what is that wrong to say? Sorry, yeah, you don't get this scene right. I'm gonna reprogram you. It's exactly right Can we can we program Val Kilmer to be less of an a-hole, please? I mean, I'd be willing to bet because he had that reputation. I'm just gonna tell you well, but his role is ice man really Really? Stablished that right he was a hole in that well his yeah, but in real life. He was considered difficult to work with That's what that's what I mean now. I don't mean to disparage the dead, but that was his reputation. So whatever I'm trying to think of it. There is an actor that I could I could have AI generated back. Who would it be? I Don't know if I have one. Do you have one Joan? um An actor whom I would like yeah You know what let's let's park that you think about it. I mean, that's a great subject It is a great yeah Robert Redford, okay. You say Robert Redford, okay? I don't have one I'm sure there is one if I really thought about it, but I just don't have one by the way You know what I really really really loved Robert DeVall Yes, and you know yep, he like what I would watch him in movies I I felt this is the measure for me for somebody that affects me in a movies If somebody affects how I feel emotionally when I leave the theater, I'm still feeling that movie That person like really affects me and he did that Jean Hackman. Yes, Jean Hackman is another one. Yeah Let's see here Walter Mathau is one that I actually liked believe it or not going way back when nice. Yeah, real quick I want to I want to play this because this woman is insane Uh, oh, yeah, this is a a woman out of oh She's out of Wisconsin. Is she the secretary of of Yes, she's an official. Yes. Yeah, listen to this. It's it's hailing in Wisconsin Republicans say we don't have climate change, but this is all full-size hail in my front yard This is not normal and we can't keep ignoring our environment so She's insane because Wisconsin hi, I'm Joe Saul see hi hosted the stacking Benjamin's podcast You know what a lot of us get taxes wrong filing your taxes is basically data entry There's been this trend of people going. Oh, it's so cool to follow my taxes in August. It's so awesome. Don't worry I have an extension. It'll be fine. I like totally do it later. Stop. Do your friggin taxes now That was a really good fashion voice. Did you like you do that more frequently, please? Yes every show for now Stacking Benjamin's follow and listen on your favorite platform has had golf ball size hail for decades since 1921 They had I heard right out guys talking about this and I saw this reported yesterday because this woman made the rounds I'm she's making the rounds as somebody who is clearly an idiot and so they've had and I remember living in Texas 15 20 years ago and Seeing baseball size hail. I mean small baseball again a little bit smaller than a baseball But massive size hail so I don't know why she is so Incredibly his I I can I tell you something? I thought this was a joke Republicans say we don't have climate change, but this is go full-size hail in my front yard This is not normal and we can't keep ignoring our environment. I like I truly thought this was like some sort of Facebook AI joke Oh, thank you, but apparently not and Here's the deal. I don't know I Was thinking about this on the way in So on the one hand you can laugh about this Or you can be angry because she's clearly clearly lying So you can make fun of her for being a screaming Mimi. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, Wisconsin's Democrats Secretary of State Sarah Godluske Says hail is a sign of climate change. I would say hail. No, but we're like Sarah God loopy Good one so I mean to me I think what I don't like is even though it's fun to laugh at people like this What I don't like is the fact that she's blatantly lying and she's lying to the people that follow her She's lying to the people that You know believe that she has an ounce of credibility and clearly she doesn't so it's all fine Well and good Joan to to laugh at her and laugh at the screaming Mimi aspect of this of this 11-second video, but the reality is she knows exactly what she's doing. This is what the Democrats do. They lie All the time and and she's wearing that University of Wisconsin sweater You know, it cracks me up. What's that University of Wisconsin actually conducted some Analysis golf ball size qualifies as severe severe hail But reports of exactly that size or larger are relatively infrequent compared to smaller hail This data seen an overall rise and hail reports over decades Largely due to better reporting and population growth rather than just more storms. There you go. That's from the University Hey, I'd like to congratulate the state of Tennessee for embracing inclusivity Did you see what they did? Oh boy? Oh my goodness gracious This is from of all places now. I just want you to want to let you folks know I don't actually read the advocate like on the regular Tennessee governor Billy has signed a resolution designating June of 2026 as nuclear family month ah In the state Now apparently June is also Gay pride month. Yes So as you can imagine oh Oh, yeah, listen, they're doing nothing in the state legislature, but embracing inclusivity. Yeah, that's what they're doing Congratulations state legislature. I love this well and as a state that contributed to the nuclear bombs of World War two It's kind of a funny play on words critics say it is a direct rebuke of LGBTQ plus families during pride month The resolution describes the nuclear family as God's designed for familial structure and God's perfect design for humanity According to the text of the measure. I love this they say the measure goes beyond symbolic recognition Invoking a series of widely disputed claims about fatherless households including links to higher rates of poverty Substance abuse incarceration and school shootings. Yes, so who's disputing them come on are those claims every statistical report backs the data Yeah, well, you're exactly right that this is what the advocate says Rigorous studies find that once factors such as income and household stability are accounted for the independent effects of father absence are significantly smaller B s I would like to advocate for better journalists Yeah, you know what well, you know, they're advocating for their own narrative. Whatever Here's what they also say though Resolutions like this do more to reveal the cluelessness of Elected officials whose own families and those of their constituents have various family dynamics and structures as spokesperson for Glad said in a statement to the advocate The strongest families are grounded by love lawmakers trying to exclude and intentionally harm Some families should be recognized as actively harming all by not focusing their time Working for an inclusive Tennessee where all are welcome and can succeed Well, they're not in the Tennessee State Legislature Nope, they're not they're not like saying, you know gay pride month can't happen in June in the state of Tennessee They're basically saying I well, okay, so June I guess can be pride month, but it can also be nuclear family month They're being inclusive They're they're doing exactly what glad and the advocate are asking for They're including everyone in in the pride in June gay pride month and Nuclear family month. Is that a problem for the for glad and for the advocate? Yes Apparently it is They might want to call the wambulance By the way, I will also say this. Do you know how many how many various months we celebrate? LGBTQ plus stuff. It's like almost every month February you've got LGBTQ plus history month That is celebrated in the UK and also recognized in America In March you have the transgender day of visitation In March you have the transgender day of visibility in April you have the day of silence That is student-led anti bullying LGBTQ plus awareness events. Nobody wants to see anyone bullied frankly also in April Lesbian visibility day.
