David doing well ready for another day. That's for sure One day closer, you know one day closer to the Masters getting looking forward to that as always and like you said the final four and Hey Monday could be great. You never know what Monday is gonna bring but Saturday with that Michigan, Arizona game a lot of people Including yours truly think that's the championship game Yeah, that always scares that you know what out of me there's numerous examples where we thought that and The winner of the other game has gone on to win it and then there are times and you know, which it turns out to be the case but Yeah, I don't think it's a forgot conclusion put it that way mark that the winner of the late game Saturday is just gonna steamroll on Monday Well, then you con better win the first game That's the way I look at it you con to me and I know Illinois a game can play with either of them But you con to just I have more faith in them as a program as a team Sure have a better championship game than Illinois obviously with their past success, right? That makes sense That makes sense two ones a two and a three All right, and the two was thought for most of the year that they were gonna be a one So, you know, we got four big boys here There's no question two big ten teams are favored right slight they are They are Illinois was about a point point and a half favorite and I think Michigan's about the same 26 years since the big tens cut down the nets Do we want it all big ten final? No, I don't Okay, like I said, I think you kind gives Michigan a better game I just think Michigan with teams they've seen before and and I thought they were the class of that conference all year long I didn't think it was close. So I would like to see them have to face, you know, I just think what Early does offensively the movement is something that you don't see much of in the big ten It is a different style and dusty maze a terrific coach But now he's got you know, just a day to prepare if you will for that game So that to me is the more fascinating matchup, which means we'll probably get Illinois in Arizona But neither here nor there. I just I like to watch Offensively the way Yukon plays and they will bring some things defensively on this at the same note that Michigan's probably not seen a lot of You know, he's I Respect that he's not the guy that everybody likes. I like him because I like you know, I liked Earl Weaver You like her a weaver. How can you not like Hurley? I mean, he's a yellow. He's a screamer I do think it's funny that the internet made a huge deal of What looked to be like a head-to-head touching if he and the referee and the referee when asked about it said what are you talking about? Which I thought was you know, I just thought that was fun. Oh, no, it's It's a thing. It's amazing I mean the NCAA got questioned because the referee involved in that region final With Duke and Yukon whose heads touched with Hurley with point three to go Alright, he was not listed as one of the 12 officials that's gonna do the final four And so people asked whether or not it had anything to do with that incident the NCAA was like what? No But Yeah, that's I Don't know if you know I think if you know basketball quite frankly if you've been court-side And you've done a lot of basketball Okay, you don't think anything of that if you're just sitting home watching video on the internet I think you lose your mind Okay, but it's difficult to explain Okay, never mind the fact that Hurley might have just blanked out by what just happened Okay, I was looking at the ref approaching him like what are you doing? So You know, I'm glad I banned a lot of people wanted technicals calls at the end for A Yukon person running on the court for Hurley and the official It's like, whoo Well, it started with the Duke play-by-play guy. I mean, you know, that's you know in the call in his call He wanted a tech. Yes. And that's that does blossom In mushroom of rather into more people when that gets out there people will say hey I mean, I don't know how many people like Duke, but that's certainly they don't like Yukon as well. Those are two Dark suit teams if you will Now it is interesting the official that you know got close there with Hurley and I mean, he's regarded by many is the best in the game It is interesting that he wasn't assigned the final four. I'd I'd love an explanation as to why that was But Whatever Illinois never won it Michigan you got to go back to 89 Connecticut you got to go back to 2024 and Arizona you got to go back to 97 So we got never 89 97 and Well, what's it five six titles since 99 They've had a handful that's for certain so Michigan favorite over Arizona which means Michigan's favorite to win the whole thing Because Michigan and Arizona are the top two teams remaining You know when they put the power poles out those are one and two every time but We shall see Saturday night first round of the final four looking forward to that last night was not much of a sports night a little bit of NBA action going on when we had another big night, but You know for those of us that don't follow a lot of regular season NBA and right now There's not a lot of regular season NBA to be interested in Although I will say the one team that you and I try to pay attention to Got blown out again last night They I'm telling you David they need to go the torturella method And for those of you that don't know and don't pay attention Las Vegas fired their coach with eight games left and replaced them with John torturella Orlando who was Expected to be at least by Orlando standards. They thought they were gonna Contend for a top four spot in the conference. They're in the play-in game They got out scored something like 49 to 26 in the second quarter last night They got 40 maybe 47, but regardless they got just blown out last night by Atlanta blown out by halftime game over thanks for coming showing again a horrendous lack of effort no one was out and And They They are just crawling into this play-in So the one game that maybe you and I had a little bit of our eye on Turned out to be a blowout the other game involving the Florida team the Miami Heat They made what 24 threes and still got beat by 18 points. I think it was mark they gave up 53 points in the first quarter not half Quarter It's the second highest scoring first quarter in the history of the league I Mean seriously 53 points right out of the shoot I Don't I don't know this just doesn't seem like a good product to me Boston by 20 by 18 But they led by 30 something late Atlanta by 29 the Sixers by 22 All right, Denver by 13 San Antonio by 14 I mean I'm looking here the Knicks by 11 Yeah, we had two games decided by less than 10 points last night at a nine. I Just don't see it as competitive Funny thing is Denver 1 by 13 David. They didn't cover. I mean so right, you know, I mean the lines are also So big in these, you know games, but but again, this is tough right now for I'm not Defending the NBA. I don't want people to think that but when you have some of these games Who's gonna get fired up on either side the playoff spots are all set? I mean that Denver you talking what's Denver really playing for they think they can just walk out and win Because Utah is actually trying to lose I Don't know the margins to me a A Generation ago forget two generations ago a generation ago Alright, these margins of victory and defeat Would not be handled well by teams by front offices by coaches by the leaders on the teams the league just seems very Competitive to me and I'm hoping the playoffs are completely different I think they will be but the Miami Boston game is odd in this sense. You're everything you pointed out is obviously factual Usually when you get a team that blows out another team in a quarter like that And I don't know what Miami shot per quarter for the game and maybe it was awful But from behind the art Miami shot over 50% for the game They were 24 or 47 from three-point range for the game and Still got their doors blown off So that's that's a lack of effort that's a lack of defense that's a you know More of a January game in my eyes than an April game if you know what I mean But They're in the play-in that's no matter what Miami's gonna be of the play-in There's really no way the way they played lately to get out of it. I sent him a text the minute I saw it one Rick Church who's been helping us out while I've been up in Tampa between Moffitt and the Hope Lodge It was Rick Church's birthday yesterday, so first off happy belated birthday on air. We missed this It's my fault. I should have checked social media a little earlier Alright mark that happens Well and you know but I also am gonna guilt you a little bit We do an interview with somebody who says that we've got a question about April Fool's Day We have a guest who says their birthdays April Fool's Day And you just put mom's the word not a damn thing out of you know that's stolen a free segment off of your Yeah yesterday, so now we got to do it today, right couldn't help us out there. Why was telling you guys during the break because you know You know the guest was talking about you know when you're born on April 1st You're kind of you know the whole April Fool's Day thing kind of revolves around your quote-unquote special day But so I said I was kind of an April Fool's joke from the day I was born And and Paula kind of nailed it. She said something about where your parents expecting a girl. So this is a true story I'm the second child. I have an older brother. So my mom got pregnant. They had one son Apparently they were very fond of telling all their friends and relatives We're really hoping for a girl so that you know, they can have kind of the ultimate nuclear family with the boy the girl and call it a day and This they this was something they were really rooting for So I was born on April 1st and apparently my mom loved telling the story Everyone they told on the day. It's a boy. Is this an April Fool's joke? Said no, it's not it's a boy. It's not an April Fool's joke. So Did how long did it take your parents to forgive you for being a boy? Never mark never honestly because well here and here's a little you know a dendym The the joke got even worse on them because about three years later They tried again one more time to have a girl guess what happened sure twin boys So we are a family of four boys after attempting to you know, just make it one and one but right All right. I appreciate it I guess good luck to your tea wolves because we know the twins have no shot Yeah, I know yeah, it's gonna be a long summer, but you know Though David when it comes to Franchises right now you and I have talked a little bit about this with baseballs pending work stoppage next year and Manford wants a salary cap. I mean he's made no bones about it But with the cap comes a floor and the twins are along a group of teams that don't spend any money Yep, David Yesterday we found out the dolphins sold 1% of their team the valuation of the Miami Dolphins was 12.5 billion dollars Now included in that though is the stadium the F1 race I mean, you know the tennis, you know, it's all there on the ground So it's not just the dolphins, but it is the primary part of the sale. Yeah, I got you. Okay Help me out here David The F1 race and the tennis tournament Are worth what well Ross was quoted was it last week or the week before saying he generates more revenue from the F1 race and he does for the dolphins all year Now that doesn't include the TV money. He gets I think he's just talking ticket sales and sponsorships So you think the F1 race is worth more than the Miami Dolphins? No No, I don't I mean, I get that all those things come through and I'm not trying to be a jerk here It still means this franchise is worth a lot of money and well right now Franchises are worth so much if you go to what the trailblazers were just sold for what they're trying to get for the Seahawks I mean if Manfred really wants to push at what point do the players say great? You need to you know and if the twins and the Marlins and the pirates and etc etc Don't want to spend How did they not sell a portion of their franchises when they're worth what they're worth right now? The Giants sold what 10% of their franchise last year to private equity and they did it valued at 10 billion So your point about Ross just put up 1% and valued it at 12 and change Listen, if I'm the owners of the Seahawks I'd come up with an excuse and just delay this another six months because the way it's going Mark It'll be worth an extra billion for you It's obscene. It doesn't make any sense to us. Obviously. It's beyond monopoly money Okay, and you don't get your money back. We don't see it until you sell and So, I mean are you really treating a pro franchise as a home? You're gonna flip and Look at with football at least I understand the demand from the television networks and the streaming services Basketball already has a huge Television slash streaming deal in place. Yep. So at least with those two leagues David I I get it. I I don't think that they're worth what they're getting but I get it Hockey, I don't understand it all at all You've got Tickets as your number one source of revenue you have no real television deal in the United States And you've lost money across the board on your regional cable deals Baseball was getting the majority of their money from those regional cable deals and That money's gone and it doesn't look like it's going to be replaced anytime soon And that's why franchises like the twins and a few others that they went from getting 60 million in local TV revenue mark to getting 10 to 20 and so that's why they've drastically cut their payrolls because They're out a lot of money And yet their franchise value keeps growing and that's where that's the part that confuses me You know baseball and hockey valuations Confused me the basketball and football. I think they're overvalued But I understand the value because the revenue streams that are coming in are Strong and will continue to be strong for some time. And we said Weeks ago that the bucks were going to raise their hand and say what about us?
