Summary

Episode 605 features Bill Guerin discussing the Minnesota Wild's blockbuster trade for Quinn Hughes, widely considered the biggest in franchise history. The hosts also interview Brandon Bussi, the hot goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes, and discuss major NHL developments including Buffalo's GM firing, Pittsburgh's blown leads, and various team performances.

Insights
  • Superstar players rarely hit the trade market; when they do, GMs must act decisively even with uncertain long-term outcomes, as Billy Guerin demonstrated with Quinn Hughes
  • Goaltending performance is better measured by clutch saves and game management than raw statistics; Brandon Bussi exemplifies this philosophy
  • Organizational stability and owner delegation of authority directly correlates with team success; Buffalo's struggles stem partly from ownership over-involvement
  • Adversity and resilience are teachable qualities in hockey culture; mentorship from veterans like Duky Walsh creates lasting community impact
  • Young players entering the NHL benefit from established infrastructure and team chemistry; Zeev Bouquin's opportunity in Vancouver demonstrates this principle

It's all about spit and chicklets and we are now live on a wild Monday. I don't even really, I don't remember this much going down. I mean, we had Quinn Hughes. I got a new goalie and it's like the seventh story on the sheet based on the fact that the Sabers just fired their GM. No, we actually took that off the outline. It really doesn't matter how much actions been going down. This is the latest one that just broke what probably 15, 20 minutes before we hop on. But my goodness, hockey is on a heater and the Minnesota wild have made what is, I think, the biggest trade, easily the biggest trade in their franchise history. And Billy, Billy, Billy, Big Ball, Garin, pulled the trigger on it. So unreal, boys, unreal weekend for hockey. Yeah, we'll have him on. I believe he's going to come on maybe, maybe four o'clock Eastern, three, 45 Eastern. You know, he's a busy man now. I mean, the guy was making meatballs in the middle of the, this trade going down. That's what he had to take, had to take the late text gloves off. We'll ask him about that. So he not only does he make a special like wood shop projects in his basement. He also makes meatballs and he makes monster trades. So the man that can do it all Keith, you had to remember, remember this week at the Grove. I see the lid looks phenomenal. Biz, you were at what looked like a very special event. You forgot to mention one thing. Billy G actually in that trade, it wasn't mentioned. He made Vancouver a new stick rack in his good shop. And that was part of it. First round. That was put it over the finish line. That's what did it. That's it. I didn't also have the gene updated. He was going to be two first rounders or a first rounder in the stick rack and they did the stick rack and the wine holder, the wine bottle holder that he made last time. But he's gotten better because he's done a few of them now. So it's not as, you know, he's working down the sanding on the edges. You know, it's it's it's perfecting his skills in the new Yankee workshop. But my good, if you want me to talk quickly about the weekend, I went to Aspen with our boy, Sheldon Wolitsky. He was the one who originally he reached out when we were going through the ECHL player relief fund and got to meet him. This is going back years back, what like five, six years ago and you told us then the house. Yes, yes. So have ever seen. Yeah. So after a dinosaur or something. What? Didn't he have like dinosaur bones or something crazy? No, he was doing like he had like a training facility out of his house with like a hyperbari chamber. I don't know about the dinosaur. Like a Willie mammoth bone or Jurassic Park. That's where they got the they got the idea from them. God, I don't know how much weed I've been smoking recently, but I can't remember the woolly mammoth or the dinosaur bone. But we will get back to that if that is the case. So after initially getting in touch with them about a year and a half, two years later, we ended up going there to Aspen myself, gee, the whole crew. And we filmed this Colorado extreme charity that he's been putting on and basically built the rink in El Jabel, which is about a 30 minute drive from Aspen. It's a smaller community and like we did the video and there was a little bit of criticism like, oh yeah, free hockey, free rink at free gear for kids who live in Aspen. Well, guys, when you have a place like Aspen, you know, the people who help run the town and do all like the hard jobs like they live on the outskirts, right? So El Jabel has a pretty strong community of like Hispanics and people who are like of the working class. And you know, maybe they can't afford to get their kids in hockey and maybe they don't have a background in that where they even know where to begin. So he he not only built this smaller rink, which is now he took that down and now they have one that's like three times the size with grandstands and lights and it's on the side of a mountain and it's as beautiful. They have two like a bunch of dressing rooms now that they've built. So the minor hockey system can get going and they provide hockey equipment for these kids who have never played. So they they have so many boys and girls that have been introduced to the game. And as you guys know, like it's nice to have a place where like, you know, when you're a young, you can be influenced one way or another. So if you're hanging out at a rink and building and getting to know a team sport and yeah, but like so it's just good where the community, these kids have a place to go and learn a new sport and you know, work as a team and get to learn a lot of life skills that are being put on by the Colorado extreme. And they've now partnered up to do an alumni game with the Colorado avalanche where so the charity and everything they do has just grown massively over the last four years since we dropped that video. And gee, maybe you could put up the link or something as to where you can go watch where we originally went there about four years ago, how it all began and where it started. And now you can kind of go see online as to where it is now like Peter Forsberg was playing for the abs and that one Mark Andre, Florida was there. Lundquist on the missing curfew guys, Duncan Keith was there. Schmaltte was there. So just a ton of great people coming together for a great cause. And I ended up popping in just for just over 24 hours for the game itself. And just to see like the community and the people come out and be so thankful that not only are they getting to watch like Paul, a famous skate on the sheet in the small community that's been provided by one of their community members. But yeah, just to see the look on the kids faces that have been supplied this and how happy they were. So it was an unreal 24 hours and shut out the Colorado extreme. Make sure you follow them on their channels and take a look as to what they're doing for their small community of Elge Bell out about 30, 45 minutes just outside of Aspen. So that's what I had going on. Did you skate busy? I didn't skate this year. I haven't been training or working out nearly hard enough. So I need to get back. There was a rumor I saw like online that like because of the heavy hitters, they're now bringing into this game. There's people said you weren't allowed. A buddy. I was people kept asking you, why are you playing? I go look at the players on the ice right now. Like I'd be holding the door open. Even like Mike Commodore, he played one shift and you know, did the way Kyloy and then he was done and back to slam and be honest, Tyson Barry was there. Um, yeah, just like the list goes on. So a great get together and I hope at one point like our whole pod can go. Like if you guys would be up for it, they'll they fly in, take care of you and then they also do kind of like, um, you know how they used to do a fantasy camp. Wayne Gretzky used to do a fantasy camp and other guys have done them. So they do that for one day where they sell corporate sponsorship and that also goes towards the charity as well. So unreal weekend for me. And what about you boys? What about you, Jans? I had my member member at at Grove, which was, I don't think there's a better member member in the world. Like just what what they had going on. I mean, no boo the first night, carbon the second night, you know, it was hot like what was Dr. Os like. I so I didn't even see it. I was kind of whatever I didn't really. Okay. Like he was walking around doing stuff, uh, the guests and people's, uh, like phone codes and stuff, all that craziness. Uh, so that stuff, that stuff's crazy to me, but I wasn't in the right state of mind to to remember too much about that. But the golf is a blast. I got buried buried in the back first round out there on the tent hole. I'm standing there and you know how it is there. Like this carts everywhere. We're playing in six of them. So I'm up by the machine. Someone skulls a ball. My boy Adam aka knees hits a line drive at me. It hits me in the back. It buckled me buckled me. I'm like, I'm bouncing. No, just right zero bounce zero bounce right. I caught back. Torrey crew got yet. Didn't he? Yeah. One of the other guys, Duff, like is looking at me. He's like, Oh my God. Like is he going to be alright? Is he dead? And I'm like legit. Like you know when you can't breathe and you're like, but uh, ended up surviving that played fine. My partner was. I'll do tax Gordo after and say, Hey, no, it's going to take a little block shot. Spuddy. I'm blocking golf balls on the course. You fucker. Ended up making a par on that old too, which was nice. Yeah. Yeah. My partner was a beauty. This guy 80 years old. Absolute legend. Piping the ball around. Absolutely piping it around. Uh, but yeah, it was unreal. Had a had a good time playing John L. Way in the last match, which was fun. He was still piping the ball around NFL legend. Uh, so yeah, it's great. So Ryan Smith owner of Utah out there, Wayne, obviously Clark McCart third and other hockey guy, but just a great weekend. I honestly don't think there's a better member. Remember, I wish they did a member guest so I could have one of you guys. Come out and, you know, enjoy the weekend, but yeah, we obviously. Yeah, I'd have what but you could ask me on the bag. I'd be on the back. You could caddy. Yeah. Okay. But just a fun, fun weekend. Great to be around the boy. I was hurt and yesterday. I didn't leave the, I don't think I burnt one calorie yesterday. I just went from bed to the coach to Uber eats. That's it. Eating shit too. Shit. Does MJ play in in the member, member? Oh, he was it. So who does he golf with? He plays with Keegan Bradley. Oh, that's, that's fair. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, it's not really one of those tournaments you go into thinking you have a chance of winning when you got DJ Rory Brooks, Kebke, Luke Donald Keegan Bradley. So this was a PGA event. Pretty much. And Keith. Yeah. And his 80 year old partner. But I think we got, I think obviously you get in shots and stuff. I think we got like top 15, which is, which is great. That's not bad. Really. And great, great response to the sandbag with page. Thank you everyone for watching that. I mean, I didn't, I didn't know that that clip would go that viral. I knew it would go like somewhat viral, but that piss bomb clip and the way they just put it all together. I have told everyone that's brought up. I mean, I'm going to ring this weekend at youth games and people are like, what the hell was that was like, she brought up the piss bombs. Like, Biz did not bring that up. And I don't think I don't think he would have. I was trying to ask questions about her, her, her, her coming up in college golf. I was keeping a PG and then you were like a real big J journalist. I was a gentleman. Yeah. I think gentlemen's the word you were looking for. That's, is that was that one with a J? No, that one's with a G right? A journalist. J is journalist. Okay. You were Walter Cronkite basically until the piss bomb discussion came and then you were Peter North. So it was a hell of a sandbag or though. It was a really amazing match. Everyone checked that out, but what a match. It was an amazing match. It was so much shit talking to you guys were giving it to me. The problem is always. But you've given it to us. I you've, you've kind of switched this narrative that we wouldn't stop giving it to you. Like we didn't give it to you until you went three up and you were talking so much shit that then it was like, all right. Like yeah, you, you said you want to quit wave the white flag. And then from then on, like I was like, I hate this guy. I literally hate him right now. Yeah, I obviously I was stirring it up a little bit to get you guys motivated. But before that, you guys were like, you were mocking my caveman walk. Like you guys were telling me that it was a riot date because I was trying to ask journal questions. Like there were some subtle jobs there. And then the piss bombers, which is right away our new team, me and Paige were the piss bombers. Yeah, that they did when it was like when Whits said, all this is like half riot date, half whatever. And then it go from us to you asking her questions to that was phenomenal stuff. You literally asked her 37 questions in 10 seconds. Oh, yeah, you can't even answer one before it was like the opposite of Billy Garen when it takes him 43 minutes to ask a question. He was just hammering, rapid fire. I've been writing down like fucking. I got a full sheet here of long questions. I'm going to ask Billy G three layered. It's going to be it's going to be a shit storm today with him getting under his skin. But well, it seems like we had all awesome weekends and hey, shout out to the whole crew, man. Like for editing that, the what they do for us for the baggers, like they had a false around all day and they make us look good and they keep bringing out bangers. So a posh of the whole crew incredible job. And what else was there? Another video that we dropped to. I know we did check it to you, but that was a few weekends ago, but I guess it was just just the just the standard. The end of Santino pod is getting it on a lot. Oh, yes. That was a big one. So shut up. You guys hilarious. Oh, I mean, I don't know what else you're supposed to say. He's on his game every single waking moment and he's just quick witted. He can just talk and talk and talk. Like I think him do what we interview from an hour and 20 minutes like to him. That's nothing at the end. He's just like, oh, like nothing changes. There's no act. There's no. It's just him being a hilarious person nonstop. So I loved it. Hit the sandbag with him is going to be electric too because now we definitely got to do one. Yeah. I was talking to I was at a Christmas party on Saturday night. Had to parlay the member member into a Christmas party on Saturday. Oh, you poor guy. Oh, shocked. Why was shitty weekend? I was done. I was like completely done. But one of the guys there came up to me. He's like, dude, I've never missed an episode of Spitt and Chicklets. He was like in that Santino one was my favorite interview by far. And I was like, he was like, I usually love all the hockey stuff, whatever he's like, but it was just nice, you know, just one different, different thing for him. He was like, it was the funniest shit I've ever heard. We should speak in a red headed comedian's. I texted you. We could get Francis on. You said you recently went and saw him in Boston. I saw that he had seven sold out shows in a row. Dude, seven in a row. We went to the early show on a Saturday. And he, dude, it was unbelievable. I mean, it was 50 minutes and he had the place in stitches. And like I think a lot of times the later the nine o'clock show is probably even better in terms of like fans because they're a little licked up. But maybe that can kind of hurt you if like they're annoying, but I just think he's so funny and his show. I didn't, because I'd never seen him perform, but I, so I didn't know what he was going to be talking about. Unreal. I was with three buddies. We went back after and hung out with them for like 30 minutes. We were going to the casino after and he said, yeah, I sold out seven in a row. He was so like fired up and he was so grateful. Like that's what I love about him. Like there was a time when he got fired from bar still. He was in a tough spot. And now it's like the year of Francis. He's just doing phenomenal. And he said he thinks because of that, that ability to sell out seven in a row at this, the laugh center and whatever it's called, he's going to do the Wilbur next year. And that should translate to selling out two shows at the Wilbur. So, you know, Francis is off to the boat. Great show. It was a blast. He's a heater. He's on. He was talking about, yeah, I'm not going to be the guy. Give us a few topics that he was talking about. He talked about his first fight and the guy like put a mouth guard in. He's like, oh, fuck, broke his entire face. He talked about like his force. He talked about his divorce and the honeymoon they went to Africa. So far he like, it was all over the place. All it just, it was just so funny, but his time at Harvard, although he never mentioned Harvard, he's like, I went to school here in Boston. I was like, wait in for him to be like Harvard, but I was, I was, I was really happy for him. I was in the back. I was dying laughing. Dying. Did he play lacrosse there as well? Yeah. Okay. He was a jet athlete. Yeah. No, he's a beast. He'll tell you too. You know, he's like, I'm 4% body fat. Oh, yeah. An amazing shape. I'm selling out seven in a row. Cocky in a funny way. Okay. So there was also a post the other day. Was he joking around about restraining that guy on the street? Did you see that? No, I saw that. I haven't even talked to him or anything, but I saw that that some guy like buried some old guy and then, and then, you know, dropped a very bad slur to a black guy after who was trying to help the old guy and they were holding them and holding them until the cops come. But then the guy knocked down, didn't want to press charges. So then he's like, how long can we hold this guy? And he escaped and ran away. So I think France is posted a picture of the guy and then was like, does anyone know this piece of shit? But yeah, kind of a bizarre story. And then he went back to the office in a birthday cake and asked, so I think cake. He's a friend's favorite. He's a wedding cake. Yeah, this guy. So I mean, kind of a bizarre like tweet, kind of a bizarre shirt to be reading. I started reading the tweet. I was waiting for the punchline. And then I'm like, oh, this is like real life stuff. This isn't like comedian Francis. Well, the fans were given the punchlines because I didn't know if it was, it was, it was serious or not because people kept saying, is that this person or this? So people were like making it into a joke where I just, I didn't know if it was real or not. And France is a pretty funny guy online. So you never really know if he's like pulling your leg. So what a run. But so that did you do that this weekend? Was that this weekend? Oh, there are two weekends ago. Oh, two weekends ago. Two weekends ago. This weekend we opened up. I got a rink going in the backyard. It's up first. It's up first skate was the most magical. It was what I pictured it in my mind like doing this. Like snow was falling. I got the lights on in the back. Kids are skating around. It was just magical. And like my wife said to me the entire time she's like, this is your dream. Like this was your dream as a young kid. Like you cannot expect that your kids. I'm like, yeah, I know, but like it's still kind of my dream. So outdoor, outdoor season has has commenced or is commenced over. I believe has began and it's so cool. Dude, it's it's just so fun being out there. And the fact is that the next like five days look great. Then Friday or Saturday looks like warm and rain to kind of get it going again after that and just hope for a real cold winter. It's so sick. Did you get the skates on? I sent you a picture. I did not have the skates on, but today's day two, like it was just yesterday. It opened. And so today I'm going to go on after this with the boys. There's nothing going on after school today. So awesome, awesome stuff. But I think we've we've spoken enough. I love catching up with you guys. But for sure, Friday night, I'm sitting on the couch relaxing night. We were just watching some games hanging out in the Elliott bomb hits. And I just, I said, oh my God, I never thought of a wild. I never considered the wild. I didn't even think that maybe Quinn used you had said when we talked about it, I think the day prior, over under on five weeks, somebody tweeted, oh, it should have been over under five days. Like, but you know what? We didn't think of it the time as Rutherford in his history doing this in the NHL. He moves quick. He makes moves quick. He wants guys. And this is back when he was more like a contender and somebody running a team that was looking to win the cup. He tried to get guys in quick and have more of the season before the playoffs. I guess it's no different than when he's the one selling off. So it is just take me through your initial reaction and kind of your thoughts on everything. Well, just, I agree with you, Rutherford. Yeah, he doesn't waste much time, right? Like even going back to acquiring guys, like I think it was a few years back. They went and got the door off, right? Like, okay, I know we're not talking about Quinn Hughes though, but get him like acclimated to line up. They ended up going on that run to the second round. But just, I mean, this is the biggest trade in Minnesota wild history, right? And I don't think any of us thought coming. And the fact that Billy G presents an offer like that, if you're a Vancouver connoct fan, you cannot hope for a better return. Like that is it right there. You cannot be upset and they get a defenseman and replace that of the future. And then also obviously center rice is an issue that they needed to address. I mean, I think it was last part of the pod before. You know, they had like four guys who we never even thought of would be playing center rice for them, playing center rice with no elite guys who can move the needle. So they really address those two areas and get the return that they're looking for. And not to drag it out for Quinn either. Like you could tell, you could see a few clips that were circulating online with maybe like body language stuff. And it's hard when you're a fat caliber and then you just basically went through the past couple of years of well, the real successful year and then all the bullshit from last year. And then now it's just like, I just kind of want to move on and either go play with my brothers. It seemed like and or go play with a contender to make use of his talents. And the fact that he makes such little money for what he does made things obviously a lot easier to move them as opposed to a guy who's maybe making that 11, 12 million mark. So I'll bring murals up. Murals didn't seem like he was a fan of the move in the group text, right? He doesn't like it. Who's it? Murals commenting on it. Murals says that Minnesota got fleeced, but Murals is obsessed with Boo Yem, though. Murals is obsessed and Murals is is very, very adamant that Boo Yem will be the same type of defense from the Quinn Hughes is now at some point. But you break, but you also can't predict that. And for me, like everybody's like, Oh, well, we got Capri's software eight years and you know, boldies there. You know, maybe it wasn't the right time. Fuck that. The time is that right wild fans. No, I think that that would be the counter argument to some people saying, Oh, maybe he's not the right time to move off of Boo Yem, assuming that maybe in a year or two, in a year or two, if he's, you know, 90% of what we see from Quinn Hughes, you might be like, Ah, God, we could have had that guy for a longer period of time and enjoy that where you don't know where Quinn Hughes is going, right? Like you, you don't even know if Quinn Hughes is going to be on this team next year's deadline. If the ultimately gets brought, the ultimate of him is like, Hey, are you going to sign with us? And if you're not, I think if you're Billie G, but you're not looking to next year right now. You're looking to this year. You're looking to win now. And you also like, I talked about it when I sent out the, the, the first video that I took like great video, by the way, the central division appreciate that. The central division is a juggernaut. And if you look around the league, there's not too many teams that have the ability to like drop this five man unit on you on the ice where it looks like the Fab Five, right? Colorado has that ability. I would say that Edmonton for sure has that ability is Bouchard Quinn Hughes or Killmaker. No, but you also have dry side on McDavid and a Bouchard playoff numbers right under Bob yours. So you're saying five man unit Edmonton's got it. What other teams could you say that could drop a five man unit that is as strong as what Minnesota can now drop? And when you say five minutes, so Dallas with his. They got ice in and back then when you say five man unit, let me just make things clear to maybe listeners or viewers, you're kind of talking about a superstar forward and a superstar defense. Correct. Correct. So Boston fans took a little, they were a little upset, maybe saying McAvoy and Poshonak. I could see, but maybe a little level below. I don't agree with them was what I'm saying. Yeah, I would say, but like McAvoy is an incredible defender. He's great at like closing you off with the blue line. He's physical. He could be a piece of shit in front of his own network. You don't want to go there as an opposing forward, but to click mindset wise, offensively, the way that kill McCarr and McKinnon and and natious and whoever else. I mean, fuck that Mellinsky kids fucking Poshon right now that that other defense when that they have, which makes me think they can maybe move off from Gerard, but that's a story for that's a different conversation. But now all of a sudden, the Minnesota wild, you have Brock Faber who after that little tough stretch at the beginning of the year, he's been lights out. You have Queen Hughes. You have Matt Boldy who is on a hometown discount who is borderline superstar put Zookarello in there. I'm going to play with guys like that. And then to have Carolka pres off out there, that is an ace of spades that not many other teams in the league have if only a few and shout out to Billy G for pushing the chips all in the middle. And another point I wanted to make is what Carolka pres off is doing right now on the ice. He is a top five to maximum top eight forward in the world. I don't think anybody is disputing that minimum talk 10. If you don't say that, you're a fucking moron. They should put you on a rocket ship to a different planet. You don't know where Carolka pres off is going to be in three years as far as his abilities. Do I think that there is going to be some massive significant drop off? No, but we're going to get to this topic later. Like Austin Matthew scored 70 goals a few years ago. And I can't fucking log on to Twitter without hearing his name and people trying to be it. What happened to him? When you have Carol playing at the level he's playing at now, you can't be thinking about Z. Boulium two three four years from now and what he can be. You have the second best defenseman on the planet. If not third, if you were, were enskees up there as well to now bring to this team that's already playing well that has incredible goal tending. Not just one guy. They got two guys. They got an incredible back end with good solid leadership back there. They got the four group to get it done. I still think there's one more move for Billy to make and I put them as easily a cup contender. If not top four teams in the league at this point. Well, that's what's crazy is that right now the top four teams in the NHL three of them are from the central, which brings up the playoff argument that Dallas, Colorado and Minnesota is going home in the first round. And then another one of them is going home in the second round. So that's a completely different subject, but that goes into Billy G being like, all right. I think we have a team. I tweeted out I believe there are legitimate very good top six forward away. I think they still need to add that like I think Minnesota wild fans now their brains can run wild. No pun intended based on the fact you go get Quinn Hughes. All right. Well now let's start thinking about Alex talk now. Let's start thinking about Tage Thompson and Billy G isn't done yet. And we're going to have him on and we can discuss everything with him. Not that he's going to give us any info on trades that or things he's thinking about, you know, yeah, maybe he will after he built this a new wooden desk, but you mentioned the goal tending. And I think part of it is seeing wall stat with gustives and it's like, all right, that's really changed maybe my mind a little bit that we can win now. Like we have wall stat has looked like the best goalie in the league. I mean, shout out to Brandon Bussie though. We can talk about him later. That kid's fucking unbelievable. He's changed the team enough where it's like, all right, well, we already, they already love their decore. Then you add the second best defenseman in the world. They love Caprice off. Boldie's taken another big step this year. Zuckerel Erickson, act is so hard to play against so annoying, a prick on the ice and also can add offense. He scored that beautiful goal. They had he had a late game winner. I think the game before Quinn Hughes played and it's just all of a sudden now a team that's like, I could see them playing Colorado or Dallas and making it a hell of a series. I'm not going into that either one of those series saying, oh, they got no chance, right? Like in Quinn Hughes, he's that good where it can change your opinion on the entire course of the year and the franchise. And if you get into Quinn Hughes being moved, it, you're right, Piz. Like the time had come. Like apparently Elliott said he already had told them this summer that he's been told he had told them I'm not resigning. Then people deny that. But you mentioned there was one clip going around where he was like, I think he was playing hard and playing great, but it was like, oh my God, this guy just kind of looks disgusted. He's worn, he's worn down. He's worn down. And all of a sudden he's available. And that's where Billy G's like, all right, like how many times do you ever, do you ever even have the ability to get a player like this? These guys are never on the market. Like they're never, you never could trade for a true superstar like this. And he went at it and he had an offer that no other team could match. That's what, that's what I don't get about Devils fans being furious and Red Wings fans being furious. They didn't have what Vancouver wanted. Like Vancouver looked at that offer and nobody else was coming close to it. Nehmec doesn't, I'm going Booey and over Nehmec any, any, any, even close. I don't need day of the week. And then Rossi, like, it's 60 points last year. Rossi's a player. I don't know what, I don't know what his high end is. I could see you maybe a second line center on a Stanley Cup winning team. Like third line. That would be, that would be probably as good as it could get. I think that's the high end. And I, it may be third line, but great skater and a guy who can go there and now get reps in the top two center role, depending on injury or, or, or where they put him. And, and who knows what that ice time, he can go thrive. But it's, it's evident that Zee Booey on was the cornerstone to this deal. And another thing too, like, I'll ask you guys this. If you knew that he was leaving after this contract is up to go elsewhere, would you still have made the move? Paul, if I'm, if I'm Billy G, if you're Billy G, because yeah, yeah, I would. Cause at the end of the day, like a GM shelf life isn't that long, although I think Billy's in a different category, but it's, it's like, you got to win now, right? And you're given your, your team a chance to win this year and next year. I mean, people might be, if they don't win this year, people might want you to trade them next year to get some assets, but it's like, you still have that guy on your, on your team. Why not go and try to win it? Cause at the end of the day, they've never even been to the Stanley Cup finals, right? Minnesota and the 25 years they haven't been. So it's like, you get a team like that, like the amount of support you get from your, your, your, the fans, they get it anyways without even going to a Stanley Cup. It'll be insane if they ever want to Stanley Cup. So I think like Witz at earlier, anytime there's a chance to get a top two defenseman in the league, you have to do it no matter what you got to do it. Yeah, that's, that's the, that's the risk. Like I would say if you, if, so you're saying if you know that he's leaving, like if, if you were told beforehand, I, Hey, he's not going to sign there no matter what. Because that your, if Billy, she was told by his agent somehow, like, Hey, he will not sign there. So first of all, I, I was going to actually ask Billy G. Are you allowed as it is as an opposing GM or if he's maybe talking to Pat Prason, his agent, like before I would make a move that significant, I would say, obviously he has the okay to go there to begin with and that's going to happen. I would just simply ask, we're going to make this move. But would you be open to potentially signing like after your contract is up? If he's saying like, no, I'm going to go play with my brother. It might, it might deter me a little bit moving off of Zibong on. But if he's like, oh, no, like I would be open to it, depending on how things go, then for sure I make the move. Like I would just curious as a GM, this is a very unique situation where these things don't happen very often, but to at least throw out the question, would you be open to it? I don't know if you can send that across the desk. I don't know what that, I think that's, I think that that's probably happening. But I do know every person was told there will be no assurance or no guarantee that he's resigning. So that was, that was out there. That was well known between every GM that was given in offers. But the biggest thing that Billy G is like, he's showing confidence and Quince press conference after the gaming gets the Bruins, the game in which he put on a fucking clinic. He was, he scored a goal and the next shift might have been one of the best shifts I've ever seen a defenseman have. He was flying around. He takes the puck off the wall on his backhand. Like as he pivots to skating backwards, he takes it. Then he rips to the middle, going 100 miles an hour, he'll tight turn. He feeds a guy down low with nobody around him. Could have been another assist. He just does things that only McCarr can do. They're and I agree with you. We're at skis near the top. But I don't know. It's just like the skating and we're at skis. A great skater. It's like the edge work. Like Quince, Quince used the way pivots. It even looks a little different. He has just such control of his edges. He uses the entire skate blade wherever he's going. So he's able to glide around and he does things. But when you look at that deal and him coming, Billy G's like, all right. I don't know if he'll be here. I want to try to win now. You want something big to happen. You got to take a big risk. You're not going to get a great player without giving back a ton. That's one thing. Fans are like, oh, you don't want to give that away. Don't give that away. It's like, dude, you're going to give something away. And now he has, he's the only one who can give him the eight years. And he can front load the shit out of that contract. So if this kid shows up, loves it, right? And he seems like a complete hockey junkie. Right. I don't think this kid's like, I want to be in warm weather. He just hockey player, though, those huge brothers. There's love hockey, I feel like. And all of a sudden, you're there. I like it. This team's really good. One of the best atmospheres in the league from the home fans. Why wouldn't I consider signing here because I can get eight years, say he gets eight years, 14 million a year. All right. Well, I can also have 80 million of that handed to me up front and signing bonus. That's Sean. I think that's over with. Yeah. I would assume that he's probably going to make like 16, 17. If it's eight years, I know. I know he's he's going to make a boatload of money. But it seems like ownership there is they trust Billy G and they're like, here are blank checks. Bring us a fucking Stanley cup. And this move, like the first thing I thought of was like, I am so happy for the fans of the Minnesota while they have they have dealt with their fair share of struggles, but they are a hardcore fan base. And I don't think it could be understated or overstated enough. Like you're in you don't have to live and play in Canada where things can be very intense, media wise, but you get to live in a hockey hub like Minnesota, where I feel like when they leave the ring, they can kind of escape it. And it's not so media heavy. So it's kind of that perfect balance for hockey junkies. Like you mentioned, like the the Hughes brothers where they want to go. And I feel like that's a lot of a lot of superstars now are really considering those, you know, those Midwest type places where they can go to focus on hockey, good teammates, good organizations, good culture and and go and enjoy the rest of their careers. Some people saying, oh, well, he's just going to leave the go play with his brother in a few years. Oh, yeah. But why can't the brothers go play in Minnesota? Bingo. That was no one ever said it was to be a new Jersey. Jack has three years left. So it's like, and I'm not trying to throw any shade or anything, but you got Luke. I'm sorry. You got Quinn and you got Jack right now. You go way down and you got Luke. Now they're brothers, right? Like that's, but I'm saying in terms of the type of players we're talking about. Luke is not not near those other two guys. So like what's stopping Jack from being like, I'm going to Minnesota in this deal. It's done. Please. Yeah. And they can figure out how to get Luke there. Yeah. I don't. I and I put somebody and I'm and I'm talking about both sides of my mouth because I've been like, oh my god. Like, yeah, why wouldn't he go to Jersey? Well, it seems like Jersey's a little bit of a mess right now. And a lot of its injuries, but the team and the fan, not the team, the fan base. They're furious with Fitzgerald. Furious. And it's like in this instance here, it's like, I don't know. Like if you do believe you could sign them, like you're not going to, why would you sell the farm? If he, if you really that confident, you're going to be able to bring him in. Devils fans would tell you because our, our windows now and we got to get, we got to get help in here. We got to figure it out. But just picturing Quinn Hughes with Caprice of it, I got to watch it against the Bruins yesterday. It was like, holy shit. Like this is, this is the guy's first game. He played 18 minutes through two periods, buzzing around out there dominating. And as happy as I am for wild fans, I do feel bad for Conox fans a little bit. You go back to that team, dude. And listen, I love bouilliam. I think it's a great return. I think you got as much as you could have ever hoped for as you said, Biz. But fuck, they looked, they looked set up for a long time, a couple of years ago. And it all came crashing down and it all ended pretty quick. And you lost the greatest defenseman that's ever played for your team in the middle of the season. You're captain in the middle of the season on a trade. And it was, you know, no longer than what was it two years ago, they're in game seven against the oilers. It's like, what the fuck just happened? Like it's just kind of crazy. How quickly things can switch around in this league. But I think that overall you couldn't ask for anything more in terms of the return. But to see him leave, that's got to hurt, dude. No matter what, I think that like if you're a Conox fan, you probably go back to maybe the bore, bore of that trade. And that was kind of a, you know, it feels like they moved off of him because they knew they had PD and JT. Well, like you just mentioned, you get that pop of that great season with talk it where he wins the Jack Adams. You go to game seven of the second round. I guess to hindsight, you know, you look back, was it worth it for that one year pop? And then obviously last year, you know, it transpired the way that it did. And it's been a lot of downhill since then a few things on the Vancouver side. Alvin was asked about, you know, the culture issue in Vancouver. I just think it's a string of bad luck. And then that battle last year between what Patterson and JT were going through and the fact that they had to resolve it. Very difficult. I don't, I just think that they need to commit to a rebuild and quit living in that, that in between spot and they need to strip it to the ground. They can get a lot back right now. I'm sure for guys like, like Garland, I mean, his name is popped up and he could be very serviceable to a team who wants to go on a run because he's only making what, five, five and a half sure would make nothing for what he does. I believe that that, that to me reeks of like a Tampa trade, you know, a guy making no, they always like bringing in the guys no money and then end up giving them getting, getting them fit in the culture and then give them a nice, a nice deal after this year. But another thing too is some people were being critical of, of, um, Rutherford of the fact that he brought this Quinn Hughes stuff more to the surface. And kind of like it happened with the GT and PD situation where I don't know if you get this type of return, if you don't bring it to light and the fact that this guy is available, let the bidding war begin where it forces a GM like Billy G. Basie put a package together where he's like, I'm going to make that phone call and I know they're not going to turn this down. And we haven't, we haven't, I guess necessarily dove into Zibouya much. And some people were like, well, why do I have to be this excited about a 20 year old who has only played a half the season in the NHL where it's more about his pedigree and where we believe that he's going based on what he's done so far. Um, it has here, he's won two national championships, correct? With the, with Denver, or was it only one? Do you know what G would have another? So he's won G would know the answer to that. He's got two world juniors, two year world juniors. And then at least one national championship in college with Denver. He might have two. I believe it's one and any, and he won a world championship where he went last year at the end of the season with them. So this kid's 20 years old. All he's ever done is win. We had him on the podcast like he's just a relentless worker. There's nothing that's going to deter this kid from becoming for sure minimum of first pairing defenseman. If not a guy who's representing his country at the next Olympics. So this kid is a stud. He's got the pedigree. He's got an incredible head on his shoulders. He's a leader. He goes in there, steps in his first game. He has a goal and assists two points for him. So this is going to be a cornerstone guy for your organization. And I know as hard as it is to move off of Quinn. We, you've got to strip it to the bottom and what better way to start with a guy who's going to be in your organization for another 12, 15 years leading the way from the back end much like Quinn Hughes did. So and like I said, you got a great centerman out of it as well and address the issue. I think if you're looking at comparables of young demon who could turn into a Quinn Hughes, obviously I hate comparing guys that are already fucking that special like Quinn Hughes. But Zeeb William is probably that guy who you would be like, oh yeah, he's he could be the next Quinn Hughes. Like he's got all the he has a chance. Right. He looks like him out there. He skates like him. He was awesome in their first game, just like demanding the puck. He seems like a kid too that he was a little bit shelter because they had favor in Minnesota. He wasn't playing the you know, the 20 to 25 minutes and 90 wasn't getting first unit power play every single time out there. So I think for him going in there, he's going to get so many more opportunities, so many more touches. He's going to be playing with the first line every shift. I think it's an absolutely great deal for both sides. Obviously, I think the winner unlike Merl's, I think the winner would be Minnesota. But if you're if you're Vancouver, you have to be happy with what you got back. This shocks me that Merl that's Merl's his opinion because that's like going to the blackjack table and and and not doubling on 11 when the dealer's showing like a six or seven. Like you're are you are you there? Are you there to are you there to win money? Are you not there to win money? Yeah. Great boy. Nobody gives us like he's he's also which I don't know how this works out in this argument. He hates small defense. But he loves Boo. Yeah. Who's also an undersized defense. So he kind of hurts himself there with like because he could just go like I hate small defense. And you can't win with small defense. But Boo. Yeah. He's not that big. But I would say Boo. Yeah. Has a little bit more edge to his game than Quinn Hughes. Right. When you're when you're trying to compare a little bit like that kids. He's psychotic out there. Like we we biz you you I remember your reaction watching him at Denver in that game. And you were blown away with how hard he was playing. And college is completely different. But I do think I do want wonder if you asked wild fans the question. Hey, if Quinn Hughes doesn't resign here. Would you still make the move? I would think most of them would say yes. Like maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe wild fans let us know here. But like we just brought in a superstar. Our team's playing incredible. They're like 16 and three and their last 19 games. I wrote it down somewhere. I think that if I think if you don't have Brock Faber there. Most of them say I would not make the trade. But Billy G earned the right to do that because he got that return from LA. Nobody knew what Brock Faber was going to turn it. Some people might have maybe people who watch them at a younger age. But the fact that he's evolved to this. I think the high end for Zeeb William is probably him being Brock Faber. Right. So but you got you got that. Now you go get Quinn Hughes. A guy that you know has reached that potential. And we'll probably do so for the next. It play at that level for the next three, four years. And hopefully it's on your team. You make that deal 10 times at a 10 times. You got you got to push the chips in. And another thing. If if you if he's not going to resign. You get him for a full you calendar year. And you probably are able to replace 80% of what you gave up to get him for the potential to win this year. Right. Like at next year's deadline, you you might not get Zeeb William. But you can probably get a return that's going to bring you back young assets to to continue to try to win in order to replenish what you gave up in the first place. So in the respect. The respect that he has for Billy G for making that trade and obviously being the USA. He would let him know. I feel like if he wasn't going to resign. I think he's gone up from, you know, even the one press conference he's done so far in Minnesota. Obviously he's going to say the right things right away. But from what it sounds like what it looks like. He looked like he was having a ton of fun on the ice the other day. Like him and him in Brock favor. Like Brock favor is going to his game is going to go to the next level too. Just from like he was unbelievable last night. They were so fun to watch. If I was a Minnesota wild fan dude, I. I mean, you just got to be to the moon. You're to the moon right now. It's minus 37 degrees. You haven't caught a fish in the ice fishing in two weeks. And you're like, oh my god, we just got when he was fucking rights. You are pumped on. They were cheering every time he was on the ice. And to allude to what you just said, Yanns, he even said in this post game press conference. He's like the fact that Billy G came off of what he came off. Like I need to like I needed to like make him what was what what he said. You know what I'm saying? Sacked up. Well, he the fact that he sacked up and made that trade. He's like, I'm Mike. I need to basically like prove my worth. Sometimes they're in until they hear what they have to trade, you know, to get me. But Billy was just he was, you know, full in. And I think, you know, that was his first offer. And so obviously I want to do what I can here and prove him right. And, you know, how he handled me with the four nations last year too. Give me a glimpse of what a good person he is. Honestly, he was a big reason why, you know, I wanted to come here. He's trying to prove, prove Billy G and Merle's right in that, in that quote right there. Hey, do you, uh, how sick would it be to get traded for basically four first rounders? Like imagine you're the, you're like, I'm that fucking nasty. They just traded four first round picks for me. And then goes out this versus mad. Except for Merle's. Yeah. So Grinnelli has in the outline that the Devils, the Rangers and Caroline reportedly made offers for Hughes, but no one could come close. No one, that's what I was going to say. Like how tight house and how fucking loyal are Billy G's army? You never even heard their name out there. Like he's got, he's got his crew locked in because everyone else you hear about. They're talking, you know, it's, it's leaked everywhere in the NHL. Did you guys ever hear a Minnesota was in on it? Part of that is that is, you looked at teams who needed that like spark that Quinn Hughes brings where it's like, all right, you have favor and see Williams there. And he's going to be great. And then you looked at like Jersey with the brothers and Detroit was a big rumor. It's kind of like, I don't know, Minnesota just didn't even come into my head based on what they already had on the blue line. And he haven't mentioned Spurgeon and how good he is and Bro Dean. They're D on real. Is that the best D in the league? Hunter, I would, uh, I would say with how melansky has progressed. Is it am I pronouncing that right? Yeah. Call it out of your sentence. I personally, I feel the way that melansky's played and I mentioned it earlier. I like Gerard and I love how he's a little water bug out there. I think that they might run into issues defensively with him. Like I watch him at the D zone. Sometimes it's hard for him. Like pin guys and close guys off. Maybe it's just the games that I've watched. But that makes it more likely for them to potentially if they want come off of him. And then maybe add something a little bigger and like more of like a man's in type. But I would probably still. I don't know. Yeah, I would say it's I would say it's neck and neck now with the way that melansky's played compared to what they because you had like Taves his favor. Yeah. McCart has the edge on Quinn Hughes. Melansky, you could say that him. He's probably just as good as Spurgeon. So they're going one for one at this point. And and I would love to see them play. First and then melansky and Bro Dean's better than that. Anyone on the second pair. Sure. So yeah, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's a I think he's a little more offensive. I guess then Spurgeon just not maybe not as well rounded. Keith. I was just going to say then you then you got fucking Bogosian and Middleton and they met those two in playoffs. They're fucking big mean demon. So yeah, they're well rounded. I'd love their back in right now. And two years ago they were on the no watch list. Now I'm not going to miss a game. And the going you just mentioned Bogosian really cool to see Zibui on take number 24 just because of what his leadership and and how he took him under his wing in Minnesota. And just that that small amount of time for him to pay tribute to one of his teammates like that. After getting traded. Very cool and agree with you guys like those two guys as your as your five and six. That's kind of why I said like maybe move off of Gerard like maybe get some pieces of shit like that to play against where they're going to be fucking giving you the gold. Act blad elbow come playoff time. Yeah, Manson's the one and call a rotto that's that's like that. Bread burns at times. But um, in sports winning takes more than talent. It takes strength, reliability and the drive to go to the distance. Sound familiar? That's the same DNA you'll find in the Chevy Silverado. Chevy Silverado's football guy approved to learn more about Silverado. Visit Chevy.com. Buffalo Sabers fans have been just whipping out for 14 years now. Wait a second. Wait a second. Before before we get to Buffalo, I have a little surprise. Might be the hottest player in the NHL right now. Let's bring on him Brandon, Bussie gold tender of the Carolina hurricane. Oh, I just mentioned you a couple of men, all I do is win, win, win, I didn't get a chance to read the stat, the first goalie in NHL history to win 11 of his first 12 starts. Didn't even sign with Carolina this summer. What is going on, buddy? How you doing? And, and where's this magic coming from right now? Oh, it's a good team in front of me that eat my life pretty easy. So it's been fun to say the least. That's awesome. And I guess looking into the, to the signing this summer with Florida, you go to camp there, you put on waivers. Carolina brings you in. Kind of take us through the emotions of like signing with a team and then all of a sudden that's gone and you're going somewhere else. Like what, what, what did you think when they told you you were going on waivers? What did you think of the camp you had? Like how did it all go down this fall? Yeah, no, I thought I had a good camp. I got into Florida a little earlier. You know, got to meet a lot of the guys. I started skating earlier and yeah, my time there was good. And when they sent me to Charlotte and were putting me on waivers, you know, I was open to it. I've had a lot of adversity in my career to say the least. So, you know, it happened. I didn't really blink an eye and then, you know, me and my fiance were driving from Fort Laordale to Charlotte over those, you know, 24 hours, two days. And then about two hours away, I got the call from my age and saying, you just got cleaned by Carolina. So, uh, immediately parked the car at a gas station, tried to figure everything out. So, that was a pretty crazy, I'll say hour, you know, just kind of get in my bearings and how my life has changed. And, you know, obviously everything since then has been a pretty fun ride thus far. You know, like I said, our team is pretty fun to play, uh, being that four. I think you guys are talking about D-Core's in the NHL. I hope you put, uh, my canes up there. D-Core is pretty stressful. I was honest earlier. That's your spirit, right? I like that. I like how it's like that. We just got, we just got Slavo back. So, that's a big addition. And then, uh, even though we were pretty banged up early in the year, defensively, a lot of young guys kind of came in and stepped up. So, I feel like our team's kind of had like a next, uh, man up mentality so far this year. Yeah. Did you know him before you got him on the pod? Like, had you ever met him? No, no. Me and G would just talk in surprises and, you know, why would I not get the hottest goalie in the fucking league to come on? And, you know, obviously, no, and he's a great American that I knew he wouldn't say no to us. And you would come on and just a class act. But I was talking to one of your old teammates, Vinny Latteri, Vinny Latterible. And he was, uh, all he could talk about was just like your, your ability to be at the rank and have a good time. I get apparently when you were in Providence, you made the all-star game and then that end of the year, you kind of lost your job. But he said, your attitude never changed. You've just such a great teammate. Last guy on the ice every day, just willing to do anything. Is that, you know, kind of something that you were talk growing up or is just the grind of being a goalie? Because you look at even your stats, like, you had a tough road to even get to college, right? And it's, it's one of those things where your adversity has never changed. Yeah, I think adversity is a good thing if you, if you make the most of it, right? Yeah, like my junior hockey experience was a little up and down. But I was able to kind of figure it out in my age out year, which then led to me going to Western Michigan, you know, and had success there and led me to pro. So I do think the most important thing in hockey is like, you got to have fun with what you're doing, right? Like, I enjoy what I'm doing. Obviously, right now with the way the year started, it's pretty easy to have fun. But I think that's important, you know, going to the ring every day, having fun and joining what you're doing. It's not, it's not work at the end of the day. It's just kind of what I've been doing my whole life. Yeah, I mean, you were undrafted. Like, was there ever a time that you thought, oh, you know, maybe I won't get to continue to play hockey moving forward when you weren't drafted? Or was it always your mindset where you're like, no, I'm going to find a way to make this work and and continue to evolve my career. And I always want to play hockey for 11. Yeah, I think that was a big thing for sure. When you're a kid, right, you, you want to play in the NHL. But during, you know, my time in juniors, for sure, I think that there was a point where I needed to really kind of hunker down and like figure it out. If I wanted to go to the next level, you know, there was a point where if, you know, maybe I wasn't going to go D1, I'd go D3 and I'd get a good education while playing hockey. Like that, that's a good route for people. You know, if that had happened to me, I would have still said I had a successful hockey career. But I'm fortunate that, you know, I was able to figure it out. It took me longer in my development path to get where I wanted to be. I didn't look at being drafted. I know that it's anything important. Like, goalies are, goalies are weird, right? Sometimes we figure it out a little later on. Like, our body takes a little time to develop it. Just gaining experience and reps and playing games is so important, right? I think the most important thing is to be the best 27-year-old, you know, not the best 18-year-old. When Carolina had grabbed you, was Coach Kotechkov already injured? Did that happen after you got there? You know, I don't totally know. I was claimed. When I came in, it was reported that he was banged up. So I don't know if something had happened, right? Like, you know, I don't know all those details. I'm such a day by day person. I just come in, you know, clock in, clock out, have fun, make some saves, and you know, then the day's over. So that actually might kind of answer this question of like, you go in. All right, Coach Kotechkov's banged up. But it's given me an opportunity. There's so many guys in the history of the NHL that like, whether it was an injury or a bounce or some sort of good luck, they get a chance, right? And so for you, you're a day by day guy. So it wasn't thinking like, hey, I got to go on a run here and like, this is my chance. It was more just like, all right, like tomorrow's a new day, like let's show them what they got here and me. And then next day, let's do it again. Like, you're not thinking too far ahead in your career. No, no, I mean, I kind of live off of the motto house money. Like I probably people looking back on where I was at years ago, probably didn't think I would be here. And you know, I've proved people wrong in a way. And every day is just kind of house money. You know, I appreciate where I'm at. And I don't take anything for granted. So, yeah, when I end up getting my first start and, you know, playing some games here, like I, I trust what I can do in myself. And, you know, how I play and let that, you know, take care of itself. You know, this league has a way of humbling you sometimes with the skill, right? So, sometimes you can play a great game and it won't go your way, right? But all I can control is what I can do. I feel like Boston is so good at drafting and developing goalies as well. Like, what was your time and experience like there? You're to credit for your success. But who or maybe the other people you were able to work with, like whether it was goal-tending coaches or trainers in the off season where you were able to continue like your trajectory to where you are now. No, absolutely. I mean, first off, the first shot I had to go to my dad, right? Like, he was a major reason to me growing up, you know, there's some goalie coaches all along Island that had helped me through along the way. But like, my dad was always there for me. He was always a coach on the team. He pushed me to be the best I could show me the importance of like skating, you know, at a young age how important that would be as I got an older. So he's obviously the primary reason. But, you know, I started training with Stop at goal-tending over the summer up in Massachusetts. So I've been doing that since my last year, junior. I think they have been extremely important in getting my game to where I need to be. And then, you know, since I've gone in the pro, yeah. The Bruins organization was very helpful to me in my time and Providence, you know, playing like Donnie, like Donnie was the goalie coach there. You know, I think he instilled some things in me that helped grow my game to this point. And I'm probably missing another 10 more people. But, you know, there's so many people along the way that can help kind of give you the step-by-step or the game plan on kind of things to work on and stuff. But, you know, in the end, I'm just fortunate that some of my habits and my style have worked out. Going to Carolina, did you know anyone before going in there? Because it seems like such a fun group to be a part of there. It looks like they're always having fun. You got, you know, rod acting crazy before or after games. And you got Martin, Luke, Scream, and a guy's like, it just seems like an absolute gong show some days. But for a guy that coming in, it must be nice to just be like, okay, this is a little bit of a side show, but I'm going to have some fun. He looks like one of Jarvis' buddies from Winnipeg. No, it is. I think we're getting dooped here. You know what? KK told me that. That I looked like one of Jarvis' buddies. So you're not the first one to hit me with that. So I don't know if I take that as a compliment or not. Jarvis is a compliment. So you're a good old man of Tomah boys. No, it's, I think you can see why there's been so much success here over the last how many years, you know, like this, this team is close, you know, we're, it's fun to be around. And then there's also that seriousness of like when it comes to comes to game time, you know, we lock in and we play good hockey. I think the fun thing has been with teams I've been on in the past, even growing up youth junior college. It's important that when you win hockey, games you enjoy it, right? After you win, you don't want to feel like stressed. Like, oh, thankfully we won't, right? Every when we get and the time we spend together is enjoyed, you know? So I think that that kind of bleeds in through everyone. I was just going to say with you, you're to explain it, you get the call, you get picked up off with waivers. Funny how you're going to Charlotte. And it's in the same state, but yet it's a Florida is, but like, kind of walk us through your 27 and you finally get your first start and your first win in San Jose. Like what's going through your head on that game day? Like you're, you're on waivers a couple weeks before that and all of a sudden you're starting in the NHL. Like, could you have ever imagined? Yeah, if you, you know, in September, if you told me that was how it's going to go down probably wasn't on my bingo card, but, you know, uh, everything happens in mysterious ways and, you know, quick and random times and the sport of hockey, revolve probably experienced how one things planned and something changes, but it probably helped that like I had been called up in the past before I had in play the game, but I had had had experience being in the NHL and like, uh, training camps to like playing games. So it didn't feel like too different to me to be honest. Like I didn't do the whole rookie lap thing because like I just wanted it to be another day, honestly. And, you know, with that being said, I did enjoy the moment, right? Like my parents were there. Uh, fiance was there. So people I care about were at that game, which is a was really special and something. Yeah, obviously never forget. When you talk about taking like taking a day by day and playing with house money and then you bring up your dad, like through the tough times for you and even at a younger age, was it kind of him who like taught you about like the way to think about this game and the way to stay positive and like for kids out there, like even the kids who are are so positive about what they're doing, even going through tough times, even if they don't make it like it's about life lessons. And it's the same attitude you have to have, like whether you're you have a real job or you're playing a professional sport, like was was that mainly your dad to helping you through the tough times on how to think and believe? For sure, you know, my my mom and dad in general with like life principles, I think that I have a unique outlook on life because I've probably gone through a lot more adversity. There may be some people have it. I'm not one to judge or compare adversity, right? Versus what other players have had to make it to this level. But, you know, I think for sure, I think being appreciative and like being able to take a step back and put, you know, yourself in different shoes, like that kind of outlook is led to a calmer, more enjoyable demeanor of like my pro career and just the stress that comes with being a pro occupier because it's a lot. Obviously you guys all know, you know, 82 games let alone in an Olympic year can be a lot on the body and on the brain. So, yeah. Well, thank you so much for joining me. Can I ask him? Yeah, I just want like goalies are weird. Like what's the weirdest thing you do? You guys are here. His coffee order is crazy. So if you want to explain that, what's out of oh, oh, oh, I don't do that anymore. Okay, good. But he said I throw a little he said it was three fourths milk and a splash of coffee. He goes, I don't know how he goes. I used to get diarrhea just looking at it. You know, you know, Vinnie Vinnie like silver exaggerated a little bit. So three three fours. Yeah, that's popular with our good buddies. So I like to think of myself as one of the more normal goalies, but I think you got to have a little bit of something to be a goalie with the mental side to be able to sign up for it. We're in position where, you know, we're not the reason you win or lose games, but we're an important part of it. And you know, you're out on the ice for those 60 minutes and you do control a lot. So you got to be wired a little differently, but I don't know what the cookeiest thing is. I do. I visualize like I visualize, you know, how the games are going to go like success and maybe like I do some things with my eyes to get fired up. But you know, I don't know, that might be the craziest thing I do. When you when you say visualize what you get to the rank and then you just sit in your stall, you go sit in the crowd and like what exactly do you think about? You just like pitch to yourself celebrating with the guys after getting the hairy knuckles. Yeah, I just visualize trying to make saves like insertion scenarios and stuff, you know, I feel like I'm in like the old NHL games with the highlights after the period of the goalies making the saves of, you know, I have a little bit of fun with it. So it's not too stressful. But yeah, I try and visualize some success, you know, make it some saves. Yeah, what did you say under your breath when I asked that? No goals. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no goals, no goals, no goals, no goals, no goals, yeah, no goals. Who is your guy growing up watching like as an opposite hand guy? Like, did you have one another opposite hand guy that you looked up to? I mean, not necessarily, I mean, my guy growing up was Henry Gwompris. Like, I was a Rangers fan growing up. I know Biz gets to talk to him a lot of old jealous of you on that one. But, you know, he was the king of New York, right? So like, he was kind of a role model and I'm pretty sure when I was like five years old, I sat in a line at a mall for about two hours in him and Hank and the Jagger were signing autographs at a mall long island. I was so excited at my Rangers jersey on and I went up to, you know, get my picture signed and I didn't say a word. I froze. So, you know, maybe, maybe if I ever have an opportunity to say something to him, I won't freeze up. But he was like, I gotta get him on TNT next time they have. Yeah. 100% 100% I'll tee up with that one. Maybe he'll let me know where he gets his haircut and I can figure it out. Get rid of this problem. I got another one though. It's been kind of talked about the past few years more and more that gold tending is just such a wild position. You kind of don't know like year from year, like what you're getting from guys and like, it's like just sturking and maybe hella buck, like they're kind of pretty solid. But everyone else, it's very random when you get a great year, you have an off year. What do you think like has to like what is the reason for that if you had if you had any clue or idea? I think sometimes gold tending is a byproduct of your team, right? Like with what you're seeing and stuff. But I mean, I think a big thing is what what what I've learned over the years and stuff is sometimes you can't always like look at the numbers of what goalies are doing, right? I think gold tending. That's all people do. Well, yeah, I think gold tending should be more measured by like what do you do in certain situations, right? Like obviously it'd be great to win every game and gonna shut a never go for goal. I would be able to retire at 40 if I if I did that. But what do I do in a game when it's tied at 5.5 and you don't have your A stuff like are you able to make that save or make that play in vice versa. So I think ultimately in the end, like gold tending should be maybe more defined by the wins and losses and what you do in certain moments than than exactly, did you get a shout out every game? Because like I said earlier, this league is a fun way of humble and you know, I give the May beliefs credit like in one of the games I played in, they kind of humbled me like I didn't play great and our team found a way to win and you know, I made enough stops that night to get it done. And then there's going to be other games when it's zero zero and overtime. You know, you're going to be a key reason. So I think if you wanted to find gold tending success, maybe look at that more than the actual numbers. That's the grand fear method that Wayne Gretzky always said about grand fear. You knew he was going to make that save that they needed. They got up eight six. They were going to close it out. Yeah. Yeah. I don't yeah, I don't allow the sixth one. But no, it's it's great that you bring that up because I think we were talking about the other night and it was actually Hank who said it. He goes, yeah, most guys, you know what you're getting when it's their A game, but it's like when it's your B game, what are you bringing? And like you kind of just described that like how can you, you know, mentally get over the hurdle where yeah, I'm not happy about the one or two I gave up, but we're still in this fucking game and we need that extra point. So no, that's awesome. I mean, that's, uh, yeah, I think it's just I think after QB in the NFL, I think it's the hardest position in pro sports. And I think that's a lot of it. It's just so fucking hard to be a consistent goalie in the NHL with the shooters, the release now, the stick technology. It's just changed so much. It's just such a difficult position. But right now, buddy, you are, you are looking phenomenal. And hearing your back story, very happy for you, man, it's yeah, somebody that's very easy to root for. So congrats on everything that's going on for you right now. You deserve it. I appreciate it, guys. Thank you. For the time, I'm sure I got a lot of family listening to this right now. Pretty fired up. So I was trying to keep it a secret, but show them all. I'm sure I'm sure that they're all, you know, listening right now. And when I get off this, I'm going to be taking a bunch of texts and calls. Why don't you tell me you're hopping on surprise surprise. No, but you, uh, you deserve it, man. And I think these like types of stories too are so good for, for all these athletes to hear too. Like a lot of these kids might think that their careers are over because they were never drafted and they're 20 and they don't really know where things are going. But there's enough leagues in hockey where you can, you know, keep playing and, and, and keep climbing up. I had a goalie question before you leave. Um, one of the complaints that we're just talking about Wayne and his brought him up. He doesn't like how goalies go down so easily. And then also Hank bitches about the fact that the reverse VH gets overused way too much. What are your thoughts on on on that? Like are you a big reverse VH guy? Like what have your coaches taught you? And is it being overused? Yeah, I mean, you know, there's a lot of goalie lingo. I could hit you with right now like the reverse VH or something called panda right now, which is like an overlap, but like you're kind of like you're not fully square to the shooter. You're kind of like off angle, but you're in an overlap. So your foot's in front of the post. So now you're like not stuck in that RVH. Uh, I guess ultimately it's whatever the goalie is comfortable with one of my favorite quotes I've heard, uh, from from a goalie coach is different strokes for different folks. So, uh, you know, whatever works for the goalie, you know, they do it. Why were you giving me like that? Because of how he was laughing as he said that. I think one of his family members is like, I told them that line. Yeah. And I think that's a goalie coach. You'll leave him anonymous, but if he ends up listening to this, he'll know it was him. I use that call, but it's for different reasons. Yeah, that's true. In the bedroom. Um, man, this has been awesome, dude. We got we got to get you on more often, but keep going. And, uh, you'll Carolina, wait, you said it there right now. Second, um, on, on draft kinks for for Stanley Cup odds. So you have a lot to do with that. So keep humming and that I'm a small part, but I'm a small part. Don't pump my tires that much. Well, I was thinking this kid maybe rookie. The years too old to be rookie. The ever still it's been incredible to watch. Incredible. Yeah, I appreciate the time guys. Uh, happy holidays to all you guys. You too, but what a mature guy. What a great job. Keith and Grinnell. It's a very random. I said his name. Stay hot. G and Yance. That's the dream team right there. Is that a B for Biss and Ed? I don't know. I think, uh, yeah, it's got to be right. I want to say, you bought it. I like, I like wits. Did you see wits cup? What do you got? Three got me this hot birdie to me. Oh, yeah, you got it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got it. Oh, and then I hit a wedge and then that wedge went tight. Oh, yeah, you want this drop? And I hit one in the water and it was wet. Oh, just shut the fuck up and go out to the rank. You want to take the shock? Leave me alone. I'm going to give you a nice lag putter. A little lag putter. Uh, hey. In sports, winning takes more than talent. It takes strength, reliability, and the drive to go to the distance. Sound familiar? That's the same DNA you'll find in the Chevy Silverado. As capable and dependable as a winning team, Chevy Silverado shows up against the job done. It won't flinch when the pressure's on. It doesn't take place off. When it comes to trucks, Chevy Silverado's football guy approved to learn more about Silverado. Visit Chevy.com. Uh, and also, like I feel like, Uh, like men in particular, we have a very short video about the same Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel Marvel is it Chevy.com. And also like I feel like men in particular, we have a very strong male demographic. Like sometimes they don't like to open up their feelings and they bottle things up. And you know, as as Busy said, different strokes for different folks. But if you're in a dark place, try it because it might be the, it might be exactly what you needed and you might fall in love with it, and then you can stop off your chest and can really turn things around on a dime. So give it. What's that? Billy G actually was with better help and the guy goes trade for Quinn Hughes. Get the fuck out of here. And so all of a sudden he's like, okay, sure. This is how I feel better and boom. I mean, do you think there's a chance that we can get a bigger discount code for Buffalo Sabers fans, given the fact that what they're going through. We got Billy G though first before we talk Buffalo. He's ready. He's ready. He's ready. Bring him in. Holy shit. Oh my god. Look at that. Oh my goodness. You made that door. Didn't you? What's up, Chipotle? I did. What's up? How you doing? I'm good. I'm doing great. Are you guys doing what? By the way, I did. I was listening in for that better help. I'm going to therapy too. I go to therapy all the time. That's awesome. And honestly, like, it doesn't make you less of a person, doesn't make you weak. You know what? Even if you don't, even if you're not in crisis, it's good to go. It's good to get somebody to talk to and get stuff off your chest. Like we're only human. But I'm a big supporter of, you know, going to therapy and getting help on yourself and doing whatever you got to do to be. I love doing healthy. Billy G, when did you start doing that? Was it something you were doing while you were playing? I did. I started doing it kind of towards the end of my career, trying to get, you know, I was struggling with it. You know, and then I started going then and then I started going even more when I stopped playing. Just to kind of figure things out. I mean, it's drastic when you stop playing and you have to figure out your, you know, the next stage of your life. It's your, there's a huge void in your life when we go through that transition. And, and you need help. And, you know what? You just, I don't know. I like, I like learning about myself a lot and trying to dig in a little bit. It just, it helps you understand yourself a little bit more and how you handle things. And, you know, it makes you feel better about yourself in my mind. Yeah. And how you're wired too. It's interesting. Yeah. My experience is it's like, oh, you go back to all these things and it explains like the way that you kind of approach your life where you never would have even, you're like, oh, that makes a lot of sense. But I never would have thought of it on my own. So that's, I think it's awesome for people to hear you say it with your career and what you're doing now. People would be like, oh, he's got the world by the balls. But like I said before, like everyone's going through something. Everyone, everyone. So speaking of balls, I mean, you must be fucking carrying yours around the goddamn wheelbarrow. You savage. No, no, don't need a wheelbarrow. I want to know though, Billy, because for the backstory, Ruttefert sends out, he's in it. I know there's a GM text chain or, and I know he's not technically the GM. But like, is all of a sudden every team, are they, are they let it known? Is he letting it be aware and public? Like, all right, we're taking off first now. Yeah, yeah, sometimes the text chain is used. But I for certain, for certain situations, not all the time, I don't want to give away anything that's on there. So, but you know, I just think with a certain level players, you don't put them on there, but everybody's different. And you know, that, that, that's a sacred, that's a sacred thing. You know, you just, you got to be really careful with it. But yeah, it works. When did the thought of you picking him up first come into your mind? Like, when were you like, I'm going to go after that guy? Was it summertime? Was it as a season progress? Like, did you want to maybe watch knowing that bouillon was probably going to have to be part of the return? I know I like the long questions. I know I like the long questions. Oh, did you want to watch him a little bit? Sean, I'll be like, come on. There's, there's a lot that goes into this. Did you want to watch him for half a season to see how he was progressing before you were want to, want to offer that to get, to get Quinn Hughes? Done. I'm done. I told you I was coming in with lots of questions. I loved the long question. Thank you. Monday. That was the first time. Yeah. We just didn't. You know, I mean, Quinn's such a special player like and, and you know, you hear. He's going here. He's going there. But then you, you kind of. Make the call just to kind of find out what's going on. And okay, well, think about it like, all right, well, we could have a chance. Like you find out what they're looking for. Kind of go down your, you know, your assets and, and we, we, we were able to satisfy every knee that they, they wanted every box they wanted to check, we checked it. And I, you know, normally deal with Patrick and Vancouver with this one, Jim was handling and, you know, Jim and I have a history together. So Patrick and I, so we, we just kind of worked through it. But I, you know, my, my first offer was what the trade actually was. So. Wow. It's just, I mean, he's a, he's a, one of the top defensements in the world. Like, so we knew we were going to give up some, some pretty big assets. And we did. Those were really good young players. Um, you know, first rounders, the first rounders. So, but that, you know, you don't get guys like this unless you, you know, give the other team some significant to Billy. First off, thank you for sending that, that, that me that, that's if it is set that you made. It's beautiful. It's outside of my house. It's unbelievable. Everybody's been asking me about it. My neighbors. Yeah. And so probably the, the characters were hand, they were hand done. I can tell the painting on them is, it's beautiful. But thank you for that. I think you're a fuck. I think you're not, baby. Jesus has a wild jersey on. Which makes it personal. I love it. But going back to the trade like did knowing you have favor in what he's been able to do. Like, does that make the trade a little bit easier losing a young guy like, uh, Zeev? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you know what? And Zeev's a hell of a player. Like, like I said, if Quinn wasn't available, those guys would all still be with us. Um, you know, I really believe in those guys. And he, you know, he's coming. He saw the start that he had for Vancouver last night. Like this kid's special. Like, um, it was more so just, it's, it's Quinn Hughes. Like, yeah, it's just a, honestly, I try not to overthink it because I'll just get my own way. Like, it's Quinn Hughes. And we just, we, if we had an opportunity to add this player on our team, we got to try to do it. And, um, yeah, he just, you know, instantly just like just said, there's a good vibe in the, in the building last night and in the room. And guys are really excited to have them. I'm really excited to have them. It's, uh, yeah, it was, uh, it was good day. Do you even tell, um, when you think of, of the option or the ability of this maybe happening, do you say to Heinz, he like, hey, like, this guy could be here in a couple days. Is he finding out that that trade happens when, when we all found out? Heinsy, heinsy was a little reluctant because he doesn't dump the puck enough. You know, hi. Oh my god. That's fired. Oh, I brought it to his attention. And, uh, he, I mean, we're, you know, hi, you guys though, he's like, really? Oh, we could, we could maybe get him. That's awesome. Um, yeah, he was all, I mean, he was absolutely all for it. Like he was, but I, uh, you know, I didn't tell him until it was pretty close. You had to laugh at Dean saying, I wish he made that trick when I was the coach. That was actually, that was great. I texted him. It was hysterical. Oh, that is comedy. So now you said you thought of this on Monday. Who is the first person you bounce it off of? Like did you, did you consult anyone or you like, am I crazy for offering this? Is therapist. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Like one of my AGMs Matt said called me out. Matt sells called me. I was on my way to watch a game at, uh, MSG and he's like, you know, I'm just reading all this stuff about green hues. Maybe it's worth giving Vancouver a call. And I'm like, yeah, you know what? I'll give him a call so I talked to Patrick. He told me Jim was handling it. So the next, you know, the next day I called Jim and, um, you know, I just, I made him that offer right away. You didn't bounce it. You didn't consult any any of your staff or you just, no, no, no, like we talked about it, but it's obvious who listen, they wanted. They needed a center, a left shot defenseman, a prospect and a first round pick. Well, we have that. That easy. Well, we have that. So I mean, that's just really the way it worked. And, um, yeah, I was walking around, uh, liquidity, waiting for my flight home and Jim and I were on the phone. I just offered that to him and, you know, he, he, Jim's great to work with. Like he, he really just kind of, he works through deals with you, but there's no, there's no bullshit involved. Like, uh, it's straight to the point, which I, which I love and, and, um, you know, but he had to take, he had to take time because there are, apparently there are other teams interested as well. So, you know, he's got to do what's best for, for his team. So, um, you know, I had the, you know, kind of sitting wait, but check in with him every once in a while. It was, it's always a good process with those guys. This one might be extra long, but please bear with me. Okay. Okay. I think that the, the one, maybe like hesitant downside would be you only, you only technically have him right now for the year and a half. You might not give a fuck about that, but as a GM when you make that call, are you able to get information on if you do make that move and you'll case it, would he be open to staying longer than that? Like, are you even allowed to ask that or at that time, you're like, I don't give a fuck. I just want to get this guy here. I want to show him what we're about. And I'm sure that we can convince him that he would want to stay here long term. Yeah, business. It's more of the, the second like just, we know what we're doing. We know what the contract is. We're confident in our team, our market, our, everything that Minnesota wild does. We're very confident in that and that, that Quinn will like it. So we'll just, we'll worry about that down the road. Right now, the most important thing was just getting him to Minnesota, get him in a wild jersey and, and playing some hockey. That will worry about the business later. And yeah, that's just kind of where we are. Did you fly to Jersey to go get him? Did you fly personally? Yeah. What a class act. Yeah. Take me. Kels went, me and Chris Keller went. I know this unreal pub. We could stop there quick. And boom, we're back on the bird. They gray Ruben egg rolls. What did when, when, when Quint mentioned in the press conference after the game, his respect for you kind of going back to foreign positions last year where he was injured and like what you did for him. Like, was there anything particular? Like I know he was obviously bombed. He couldn't be a part of it. But what had you been doing throughout that process? Like was it almost trying to get him in when there were rumors? He'd be showing up for that final game. No, I, you know what? I, I, uh, nothing out of the ordinary, I guess, you know, like we, we talked, a lot during that tournament because we didn't know where his health was going to be, especially leading up and there are difficult, you know, conversations. And he had really tough choices to make. I think, you know, we kind of developed the, you know, got to know each other, a little developed a bit of a relationship there. Um, and he's a great kid and really passionate and like I said during the four nations when, when he wasn't able to play really, really bothered him and, um, so I think maybe just going through something like that with, with somebody kind of, you know, can, can galvanize a relationship or whatever, but, um, you know, just tried to support him. You know, because I knew he was, he was making really tough decisions. What happened with his gear? How does gear get lost? Was Kels on that? It never get, yeah, never got lost. Yeah, Kels, Kels left it on the bar, so at the end of the bar, he was wearing it. Yeah, he sold it. Took it back to Belmont and sold it. Um, yeah. Yeah. He, um, yeah, apparently he was in Jack's car and, and they didn't know, I guess, but we'd ever even saw it like his, I never even saw it. So cases get put on the plane. So I just assume you had, you know, the gear is there, but you need it. Well, Jack and one of the ladies didn't found that out. It was panic mode. Jack was in the bag. Yeah. Yeah. Jack. Can I come to? How much do you think he's going to help Faber? I mean, obviously the one game last night, I thought they were both amazing. They fed off each other really well. I think it shows a lot about Faber, too, just being smart as a young player to, you know, because, Quinn's moving around the entire game, like, you don't know where he is, but he was always in the right spot. Was that something when you made that trade, it was like, we're going to have them play together, too. Yeah, I mean, obviously, I always let high and see make the last decision on lineups and who's playing with who, but, you know, that was definitely a thought that we could, you know, potentially have these two guys playing for a long time together. And just the way that their game set up, you know, one's extremely offensive minded, you know, in faves is, baves has an offense, offensive element to his game, but primarily like, you know, defensive minded guy. And I think the chemistry will be there. I think it's, you know, their skills and their, their mentalities kind of match up perfectly for a good pair. And also, Billy, I was talking about before, like, I referred to it as like the Ace of Spades, like, you have a team at Colorado who's able to, to put a guy like McKinnon and a car on the ice together and not saying Faber wasn't that, but how much is it exciting you with the fact that you have a guy like Carill, who's at top five forward in the league, and now you're putting them on the ice with a guy who's the second best defense from the world if it wasn't for Kayle McGarr, he would be the best. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing, like, we're really excited because, you know, these great players, they like playing with other great players, and it's just, you know, when you get, when, when you go out and you, you play like high level hockey, high skill, high pace, you know, big time hockey like that, that's fun. Like that's what you want to play all the time. So, you know, I know Carill, Carill is like thrilled, you know, that that that Quinzentown and he just said he sent me a text that night, it was one word wow. And he he he's really he's really thrilled about it. with running running team USA like the excitement of this tournament. It's only you like the fans. Everyone's fired up if the rink gets built. But also it your GM side like you got Bouldie, Brodeen, Eric Sinek, Faber, you got Quinn Hughes, you got like a gust of sin wall stat. Maybe like all these guys are going to be the Olympics. Is there a party like, oh, fuck like that's a lot of hockey or is it more just, hey, this is great. No, it's great. It's great. We also have like David Jurechek could play, you know, David Spodcheck possibly. Marcus Johansson too. Don't forget about him. He's having a great. He's been great. So we could have quite a few Olympians. But I mean, you guys saw how it is at the Olympics. Like, you know, it's good for the game. You know what? Is it is it risky with the help that some of the players yet is, but in the big picture, it's just we need to be there. Yeah, you have to have best on best at the Olympics and this provides it. So I'm all for it. I love it. I love it. Benz, you got anything else for this guy? I mean, how many press conferences? How many interviews have you given? You're probably sick of our explaining this trade to people. I also feel like my long ones were pretty good today. Yeah, really. Twenty-second. What was my great on questions? You know, it's kind of crazy. It's almost like you cut the time down a little bit, even though it's like incredibly annoying how long the question is. It's not as incredibly annoying today because you cut it down a bit. Well, you're also in a better mood. You just got a fucking quint. Yeah, that's true. I got you on a better day. You got me on a better day today. You did. Your questions are good. All those meatballs turn out. How do I? How those meatballs turn out? Dynamite. Yeah. Dynamite. Is that your number one dish? I wouldn't say so. The stakes you made us were phenomenal. They're good. Yeah, we had the those bevets. Those are good stakes. I got a shorter question for you. You have what? I have a shorter question for you. There's this trade guarantee that Quinn's going to be on TME USA because now he's on your NHL club. Didn't we already name him? I think you did. Is that a yes? Didn't we already name him? Breaking news. Quinn News makes the Olympic team post the G right from Billy G's mouth. We've known that one, but I was trying to be I was trying to be silly with your Billy. Sorry. Yeah, I was trying to be in over them. Yeah, just trying to have a little just trying to lighten things up here. What about the let's go to the wood shop here. What else have you built that's new since we last talked to you? There he is right there, folks. What's your latest build in the wood shop? Well, it's Christmas time, dude. I made a puppet. I made a puppet. Okay. Like this one? Yeah, exactly. Bear, you know what? I have not been spending too much time out there. My wife's getting rid of all the plastic in the house. Yeah, I mean, I was trying to get rid of all the plastic in the house. So we got rid of the plastic cutting boards. So I had to whip up if you wouldn't cut in cutting boards for that turned out pretty good. But other than those toxins, none of those toxins in the game are the toxins. Yeah, so it's it's been slow, but it'll, you know, maybe maybe sometime soon. That's you know, where's this years is being made right now? Thank you. Thank you. That's American. That's American passion. Really? What about mine? This will talk. We'll talk. I just send you a question. I'm making you a question, Mark. Hey, does this hostility have to do with the fact that there's an Olympic games coming up? And I obviously, and Canadian, like I felt like last time we were on, it had a lot to do with we're going to be going ahead to had no, there's still hostility here. You know, if I if I'm if I'm ripping it, it's just it's just because I love you. That's it. I just thought maybe it's going to be a very easy target. That's true. That is very true. You know that. One last one here, the ice situation over in at the Olympic games, kind of ridiculous, that the fact that this has been announced for many years and the ring's not done. What do you make of it? Like why you could see him in the corner, but he's putting in the boards. He's doing. No, that is. Yeah. I'm going to bring my I'll bring my miter saw over there. No, I don't care. I don't care. It's just it's just a story. It's it's going to be fine. And we're just going to we'll go over and plan whatever rank. Everybody's going to play in the same ice. Okay. That's a matter of course. There's America. All right, Billy. Congratulations. Awesome. Thanks. You're the man. You're pretty sick to see a trade like that. Boom. Friday night. Unreal news hit. So we appreciate it and congrats on getting on getting that guy. Any questions for us, Billy? Any questions for you guys? How the pink Whitney sales going? Create solid. Solid. Yeah. I mean, don't a lot of people Buffalo have been really crushing it lately. That could change celebratory drinking in Minnesota. We've been told. So yeah, very solid. It's not allowed in Canada right now because of the tariffs. Really? Yeah. This is smugglesome man. You'll be fine. Yeah, we need that bird you got. What's that mine? You're the man, Billy. It's Quinn. Thanks for having me on, fellas. I'm sure you guys was Billy. Yeah, I have more. One more move to be made. What a legend. Reggie. Hey, Quinn Hughes on the Olympic team. That's huge news. Okay, what do you think he's going with just a straight up wooden hat? If it's a if it's a team can of the hat, I'm going to be fucking pissed off. I don't even think they'd give him one. Oh, wow. The four nations lady rubbed in our face that episode after that thrilling overtime loss for team USA in Boston, Conor McDavid. That was a tough episode, Keith. That was one that was basically my second. I hated him the second most I ever hated him after the page sandbagger, but he owned us. He owned us. We have always beat you guys in the first one that doesn't really matter and lost in the one that matters. It has to change in Milan in the rink that Billy G built. So nice lid, nice lid. Buffalo Buffalo. Oh, wow. Even before your own team move. I'm going based on the outline. I don't know. Talk to Tristan Jari and what we're going to see from him. He's already one and all, but Buffalo. Do you think that Kevin Adams had an idea that maybe trouble was brewing when your moccacolade and came in before the season? That I respect it. I respect it. You got to surround. You got to surround. What do you do here? Nothing. He's in his office. Just waiting for you to be last in the Easter conference. Come to December 15th. I'm going to have your job. Oh shit. Hey, time out. Since your comments, they've won three and a roll. Yeah, they're humming. Beat Seattle on Sunday. I know. I know. And listen, I'm not an insider. I'm not a newsbreaker, but I got a text a few days ago telling me that this was going to happen. How did everyone know this? I don't get it. Oh, it's because they hired your local line for the season. Everyone knew it in September when he got hired. Fair enough, but fair enough, but what I'm getting to here is that same person that said it was going to be happening this morning, in which it did, is also saying that, listen, this is not a rumor. I don't know if it's true, but he's also saying that Lindy Ruff is not going to be behind the bench moving forward. Coming in the next few days. We get, if we get torts coming in there, I swear to God, I love it. Have you heard names, Biz? They need. No, they need. I got the text while we were recording here. Okay, I'm not breaking nothing. I'm just saying the same person who knew that Adam Adams was on the way out and he gave me the time that it was going to be today and he was bang on. I'll read you. I'll read you what he wrote. I'll read you what this person wrote. What's his name? Lindy to P O H O. What does that mean? Hockey ops basically. President of hockey operations. Okay. And then such and such being named hedge coach. I'm not going to read the name. Not towards. Did I get it? It's not. It's not towards is the name. Flavvy. Now, would you say torts just for like a, like a, like a small solution to figure out what he's seeing, what's going wrong to avenge he named someone else? Or you just to be snapping on guys and to change like the culture a little bit. Kind of like he didn't filly to kind of tend to get the right. I don't know. Did you have him? Did you have him in Columbus? Yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah. He would have had him. And I think that he is a good solution to send in there. Kind of like filly did mind you. Not a four year deal with whatever he was. I think he's sounding like a four times four. Go in there. See what's wrong. Snap a little. Create some accountability. Change the culture and then hand the reins off to a guy like talk or somebody else who is going to be able to run it beyond because torts as we know has a pretty short shelf life. And I don't think he's the answer for the future. Are we in agreement of that? Yes. But he's also like he's got the stature of he's probably not going to sign a one year deal. Why would he? Right? Like he'd want he'd want the term like and I think he's earned that to get that out. Buffalo doesn't have the money that filly has. They don't fucking have the calm casting. Oh, the baguille has got plenty of money. And that's another. He's not money, but buddy, he hired fucking no offense to Lindy Ruff, but I wasn't trying to be too critical. He's had an incredible career. Hall of Fame head coach, but I think that ship has sailed, right? I don't think he's going to get through to these young guys. It takes a little bit more. It's going to take a guy like Carberry to go in there and change the you need to have the energy to do so. I felt like it was a very nostalgic hire from the beginning. I also felt like that was the type of hire where maybe you were going to get what you're talking about from torts and older guy who's like fucking losing his mind on these guys about accountability and how to play hard and you know, grind through adversity where once again, I think that at his age, maybe he's like, I don't got the fucking energy to be screaming at these kids every day. I'm just going to fucking ride it out. So if they have the money and they want to spend to go hire a guy like torts, I think that's going to cost you three, four million dollars of do so. Well, they already got fucking Lindy on the payroll. How much how much more are they going to dish out? Right? So I don't know. I'm not going to read the name of who the head coach is going to be if this is even true, but considering the name that people will be like, wow. Is it or is it just kind of like, oh, that's who they got like it ain't going to be Pete the bore. What other names are going to wow you now? Laval it. Yeah. No, I hear you. Well, that just kind of brings me to I think Sabers fans and I was at I was going at it with a couple Sabers fans like you use us for clicks. You use us for clicks. I talked to you about this business. What are you talking about? Like we've made it clear. We want Buffalo to be good. The NHL is better off with Buffalo being good. It's an incredible market. It's a hockey town. We want Buffalo to be good. We talked about the struggles year after year after year and the fans have talked about the struggles and the fans wanted Kevin Adams done, but you can't tell me and Buffalo Sabers fans sound off. How much do you want a new owner and buddy? Like, let me read you this. Since Terry Pagula bought the Sabers in 2011, five GMs, eight head coaches, including two Lindy rough tenures. This is from a at puck report NHL. 28 goalies with one plus game played seven captains, two first overall picks and zero playoff appearances. So at some point you look at ownership, but look at Florida since their new ownership. Look at what Edmick like now, granted Darrell Cates had a lot of years where it wasn't great. Edmonton and you're giving McDavid and you're draft Leon, but ownership fucking matters. It's very clear that it matters. And there's some sort of issue. Maybe the guy cares way more about the bills. I have no idea, but Sabers fans have to be like, I would do anything for a new owner. Am I wrong? No, not at all. And do they deserve it? Yes. I mean, last time the Buffalo Sabers were good, the playoff games were on the outdoor network. Like, could you imagine them when it's on ESPN and TNT? Like, they're a must watch, you know, a region of the United States and we need them to be good. We want them to be good. Whether another owner can come in and change it, I don't know. Like, do you think the owner is making more calls than the GM or that's the biggest thing. If he's letting the GMs run it and it hasn't been great since 2011, he's got to hire a better GM. This might be their solution with Yarmul coming in, but it's also if he's making too much of the decisions, then maybe he looks in the mirror and says, let me ride this out with the bills and enjoy my good years with them, I guess. They have a hard enough time attracting free agents and player to come there to begin with. You don't think that Pagula had a say on what was going on with Jack Ikel. You don't think after handing him 80 million bucks, he was like, no, I want him to do what I want to do. He had to have been involved in that. So I think that he's probably a little bit two hands on and also a little bit cheap in some cases. I just mentioned the Lindy Roughhire. Like, I get the nostalgia and wanting to get people excited about remembering the glory days that we had when we made our run to the Stanley Cup Final against Dallas, but was that the right decision to be made? Who made that? You could, you could kind of, if you want to blame Adams, it's like, I don't know, man, he probably only had a certain amount of budget to work with in order to go get a head coach. So that's going to hinder you if you only have a certain money to spend. So they got the money to spend it. They just got to figure things out and going back to your comment about only using the sabers for clicks. It's this one fucking dickhead on Twitter all the time who's always commenting on every fucking time we post about the Buffalo Sabers. His name's Alex Jones Jones Alex 91 and his other gripe was like, all you guys do is shit on us. Think of solutions solutions. We're not the GM fucking solutions nonstop. I fucking, I've been fucking screaming it from the mountain tops. And I know I know not to throw, not the first overall pick defense man, drawn a blank on his name. I was going to pull in powers powers. I said that. Stop fucking handing over these eight times eight when nobody's fucking done fuck all. Okay. Like I'm not saying he ain't going to turn into Victor headman, but he's playing softer than puppy shit out there. Why you just handing over the keys on these fucking deals to all these kids who haven't proved fuck all some of these other teams do bridge deals. Oh, you know, well, we have to give those types of deals because it's hard enough to keep them in Buffalo. Well, if they fucking want to play for your city and you got to pay them all this money before they prove it, maybe they're not the fucking answer. So there's a fucking solution for you, Mr. Jones. How about start? Jones from guys like Brian Hart, O'Reilly, Jack Eichel, the actual winners. And I'll keep fucking listing them off. I imagine that Kekelein and goes in there and we're going to see some big moves. Yeah. And dude, oh, hopefully he gets the keys though. Hopefully, they just give them the keys and it's his, we know that it's him making all these decisions. And there's nothing coming from up top. And it's like, all right, hey, if there's something's going to go bad, this is our normal. But sometimes the owners that are too involved, it's too much. It's just like there's, there's power trips, right? Like there's some people want one thing, the other. But at the end of the day, your GM's watching every single one of your games, every single one of your practices, they know what you need or don't need. I think you got to entrust the power in whoever you're hiring to run your team the way it's wanting to be run. Leaders, leaders of business, they delegate, they know what they don't know. And then they trust the people they hire. And that is like how you built, like you cannot have an owner who never played hockey and doesn't know shit. All of a sudden, be involved in hockey decisions. Like, you got to be like, all right, dude, like I, I, I, I did, I interviewed people. We looked at different options. I trust this guy. Go run with it. Once you're involved in it, you don't know anything. Well, you don't know what you're talking about. And in terms of own power, but he is young, dude, if you're not going to put up a ton of points and you're that big, and this is literally, I, I'm speaking to you from somebody who was the exact same way. And I'm not even, I wasn't on power. But you, you have to be physical. You have to be a prick to play against. He's out there just floating around. He, you're not, like, if, dude, if he's getting 70 points, I don't care if he touches a soul. I don't. Right, right. But he's not. So like, I don't know, is that a guy you're taking calls on, but then you're selling low. So that's another, like, factor. And like, what would you get in a return? But I imagine Kekelein and now is like, everything's open for business and everyone except for maybe Dali and although maybe Dali doesn't want to be there anymore. That's what it was. Didn't smoke. I have no idea. And I don't think Saber's fans want to see him go. He'd probably be the one guy you don't want to see go, right? I wouldn't if I was the leaf. I would, I would do what Billy G. Just did and trying to present the package in order to get your, your ace defenseman. Yeah. That's, that's what, that's what I would do. And going back to what you, that's why I, like Kevin Adams, like, I can't even criticize him, because I don't know what he was putting up with as far as what actual control that he had. Okay. So it's hard for me to criticize him. Obviously, probably didn't do the best job, but you go back to the ownership and what you talked about with who are the most involved owners in the league. Akalini and Vancouver. He's involved. He's making calls. How are they doing? And also it, it wears on the other people in the organization that he hired to make those decisions because it's like you hire me to do so. Why do you constantly keep second-guessing me? And you shouldn't have to go ask him if it's okay to make a move. Because like Gant said, Florida, no, here's, here's all the money in the world. Go do your thing. Same thing with the Vegas goldmights or owner, whatever you need in order to win, I trusted you guys. You guys can make it go happen. Who's another owner that's involved a lot? Thundin. When they traded, here's a story for you. When they traded for Gensel, they ended up getting them. And I think that the, the, the word from the organization, the people of management about what they offer him, this amount of money in order to keep him. Well, he'd start a low ball on him. Next thing, you know, he gets the free agency and it's like, oh, well, we'll match what Tampa's offering. It's like, no, man, it's too late. Yeah. I want to go play in Tampa rather than Carolina with the players that are there because it's a way better situation. You don't, you, he didn't have the luxury to not offer him top dollar when he had the chance to before nobody else could. Who, who's that, who's, who makes the problem there? The owner because he's to involve just write the fucking blank check just like fucking Leopold, Minnesota. Billy G went to him. This is what we're going to have to do in order to keep a real. Let's fucking do it. He said, first he goes, he will give him anything he wants. Anything he wants. Beautiful. That's a dream for a fan. For sure. That's a prime example of, of, of when owners are to involve what can happen. I know they're writing the checks and I know when you have that much of an investment in something you are going to have emotions tied to it, but the best of the best, they hire the best and they let them do their fucking jobs. Yeah. So how's that for some fucking. Well said, busy. Alex Jones 91. Huh? That's clip a bitch. That's click me. I can't wait to see what they do. I mean, fucktage Thompson. Any single team need to forward right now. That's that's like, and it's seven million and it's what and and tucks there like you'd rather taged, but tucks going to sign a monster contract, right? So then taged, you already locked in on what he's making. How many years does he have left? Talk or or taged, uh, taged, taged, I believe signed a seven year deal. So he's probably got four years after the year left. 29 30 season. He's he's he's signed till the end of 29 30 season. Oh shit. Seven million. It's oh my god. That's going to be a boat load. That's going to be a boat load return. You know, it tucks you a face. So it's a way different return. But oh god, then they go. Daliin maybe wants to go. I don't know. And how do you just rebuild again? But you've been rebuilding for 14 years. So it's like the most confusing situation in the league for fans that just want to win her. How much cap space did they have Buffalo? They got they got a decent amount this summer. They're going to have a decent amount for sure. I bet you this summer that they probably have 20 million on the book or 20 million off the books. Because like, yeah, that's the thing. Tucks not going to be there anymore. The only guys make and significant money are our Daliin. How the power makes eight Daliin 11, I believe. But yeah, once you get rid of Daliin and Thompson boys like it's and then tucks gone. It's fucking slim pickings. There's nothing there's nothing left like bow by room. Never. He hasn't at least got to where we assume that he was going to get when he was with the avalanche. That was the assumption when they made that move to get him. I don't think anyone really won that one because middlestad went the other way, but it's almost like they have to strip it to the ground. It would just be so interesting to know. I'm sure we'll never find out is how much power Kevin Adams had if any. Especially for him is first crack at it as a GM. You may not ever get another one, but for a guy like that, you just hope maybe he had a little bit of say or I don't know, but hopefully he gets another crack somewhere else and you know, can be in a better spot. Well, you know, who got a new goal, you guys, the Edmonton Oilers and I'm going to start this off. You could have had them in waivers. Okay, listen, a lot goes into this, but I want to start this thing off. And I think most Oilers fans would agree. Shout out to Stuart Skinner. That guy dominated Dallas and back-to-back Western conference finals. He was not good enough to get the job done. Would any goalie have been good enough? We'll never know. The Panthers are an incredible team, but Skinner played a lot of incredible games in big games, two big moments. That guy showed up. And there were times that he wasn't good enough and Picard's coming in and playing. I just think the way that he approached being an Edmonton kid playing for that team and then always taught you heard all the media after spec. Everyone reads spec. Even he's saying after this guy would speak to the media after great games, after piss poor performances, no matter what, he was a true professional. So all the hate that he got, like sometimes it's like, fuck, I feel for him a little bit. I know what that hate feels like. And I know what the hate feels like when you're on a bad team. I can't imagine that that hatred that fans had and that the amount of pissed off oilers fans that were towards him when you're like competing for a Stanley Cup. But the time had come. The time had come, it was like you had to do something. Now the initial reaction, people ridiculing the oilers, like this is the goal tending help. And when you bring up the waivers, dude, I said it to like, you could have had this guy for free, but that's way different because you're bringing him in. You're not getting any money out all of a sudden. You're bringing in five million dollars, whatever. Jari's at like, that doesn't, it doesn't really work like that. And last year, when they had him on waivers, he was lost. He's not this year. He's not. And I'm going to read you a tweet. Now I pumped up, I pumped up what's his name, a Skinner there. But let me just read you something here. Okay. Where is it? Okay. Got to find it. I apologize. I apologize. We're all saved all my stuff. You guys know Justin Bournebus does the show with show with Kipper. He retweeted this tweet from an account archeology. Archeolgo guy. No, I can't say correct. I wanted to see how many goalies have had playoff seasons with more than 10 games played and how everyone stacked up by save percentage. 147 goalies have 10 games or more in the playoff since the O5 lockout ranked by save percentage. 2004 24 Stewart Skinner 129th 2025 Stewart Skinner 142nd 2025 Calvin Picard 145th 2023 Stewart Skinner 146th that was out of 147 people. And they made it to the finals. And they made it to the finals. Okay. The fine. Okay. Tristan Jari is a better goalie than Stewart Skinner. Is the health and issue? Yeah, that's something you for sure worry about. Like there's some goalies that seem to always be like, but Brodsky's always, he's always healthy. It seems like, you know, it's like some goalies and some players alike, they're able to stay healthy. It's an incredible ability to talk about it. The best ability availability. Shout out, shout out me just using these old school phrase. You're crushing this out. I'm crushing it guys. You're both a couple clicks in the chat for winning. Thank you guys. Thank you for all. And just to say Tristan Jari, what are you going to do with Tristan Jari? Dude, this, this guy's had some big time seasons. And then there's Pittsburgh beat reporters saying, you're trying to win a Stanley Cup. You're bringing in Chist Tristan Jari's the worst big game goal I have ever seen. Like, what did they have? One, they had one little run in the playoffs when Sid got concussed up three one against the Rangers. And you're dealing with injuries also. Who is the goalie playing for the peg? Louis Domingue. Louis Domingue third string Tristan Jari. Tristan Jari's going home. He won a memorial cup for the Edmonton oil kings. He has a chance. He wanted to go to Edmonton. He has a chance. He's going to a way better team. He's had a very good season. I've talked to many people that say like when he's healthy and the he's unreal. He's got incredible skill. He looked awesome in the first game. And then people like, oh, he had similar numbers to Skinner in the game they beat against Toronto. That's a Skinner type performance. What did Bussie just tell us? Don't go by the numbers all the time. And we have a guy we upgraded our goal tending. Okay. Look, what did you want? You can't go get sorrows. Look at the contract. I don't even know if I want that. And that deal that money, that length, it was time. The Edmonton oilers, they didn't take them on waivers. They didn't have the ability with the money. He wasn't at his game last year. Now he has found his game and you bring a guy over to his hometown. He lives there in the summer. And now watch him go guys. Watch him go. And I don't think they're done either because they probably need help based on Pickard and what he, I mean, it was so bad against Montreal. He actually stopped like four breakways. The team didn't play great, but they probably need somebody else too, right? Like it's not necessarily going to be just Jari. Maybe it's a little tandem action. That is the world we're living in as Edmonton oiler fans. But for any oilers fan who's just disgusted by Tristan Jari getting brought over. Why give him a chance. Give him a chance. This is a way better hockey team than Pittsburgh, who by the way had the worst weekend, maybe in NHL history, blowing leads after lead after the games. They were 99.9% sure they're going to win. They lost. You're going to the oilers now. Yeah, you're going to get the run support. You're going to get big time. Your teams never out of it. The oilers are the teams that are coming back on teams to win late in games. So for him going there, it's like exactly what you're just said about Pussy. Like, can he be that guy to just be make that next save, make one more save than the other guy to win you a game. And that's all you need. You can't judge us till he plays and he's going to put together some games before playoffs. And hopefully he can fucking have a run for you guys. Well, I tweeted out after it was a bit of a head scratcher. And I think that that was a lot of people's initial reaction because it feels like it took so long. And lateral a little bit. Correct. Because but I'll I agree with you. I think that Tristan Jari's high end surpasses what we've seen so far from Stewart Skinner. I don't think it's like massively much higher, but it's definitely an upgrade. I was just I wrote it was a head scratcher just because I felt like it was it was bottled up. It was taken forever for them to finally make a move. And then they do it. And then they do it for a guy that was on waivers last year. He's dealt with like a lot of injuries. So like health has been a concern. So I get and also I believe that it was kind of like a little underwhelming base on the amount of time that it took to finally get something done. But going back to what you started with like Stewart Skinner, like even at the beginning of this year, like dealing with the shrapnel that he was like there was videos coming out of when he did a like a public appearance when he was in the middle of this fire. And just still like engaging and being happy with fans. So like I can only imagine like what it's like, you know, playing in your hometown and going through all that ridicule online. And every time after games like they're going to him and there's pepper and them with questions. And he's standing in there and answering them. Always. I felt I felt that he dealt with that. And he deserves a lot of praise with how he handled that as a competitor and as a man. And it sucks. But I'm happy that he gets to move on from that. And hopefully go progress his career. And they got a tomorrow night, Edminton Pittsburgh. That is all probably going to we're going to see we're going to see Skinner verse, Jerry opposite uniforms. And now I also think Dubas did a good job. I do. But I'll say that the draft pick thrown in. It's like, oh my god, really like second round pick. But I've heard a lot about Spencer Stasney. I don't I don't know this kid's game. A younger Kool-Ack. A younger Kool-Ack can skate like the wind, bottom pair guy, defensively strong can move the puck. And Kool-Ack never missed the game for the Edminton. He was awesome. He was great. He had a bad year this year so far. But like I see them. All right. We go a little younger with a similar type player. We get a goalie that's a little bit better. I mean, I'll also read you this. Captain Jack, Euler's Jack comparing the stats on Skinner to Jerry. Overall, save percentage, Jerry slot, save percentage, Jerry. Close game, save percentage, Jerry. High danger, save percentage, Jerry. Goal save above expected, Jerry. PK save percentage, Jerry. Five on five, save percentage, Jerry. So we made we made we we got a better goal. Yeah. Did we did we get fucking Egor Shastarkin or Sir Open up? But who has an unbelievable goalie that they're trading? Nobody. It's exactly. You got to find the guys. And I think both these teams did it where both these guys need a new they need a new home. Yes, they start. They could both be amazing. And I hope they are both amazing. They just need something different. And I think, you know, Skinner could go into Pittsburgh, the way to the world off of his shoulder. Like you said, playing in his hometown, he could be amazing. And then fucking Jerry can go out there. And he's like, oh my God, I play junior here. I'm comfortable here. I live here in the summertime. He could be awesome. So you got to give this time. And at the end of the day, you hope they're both good. One's in the east, one's in the west. Roof them both. And the main thing is people are like, oh my God, Mick David, he resigns there. This is what he gets. It's like, dude, yeah, they could have drafted wall stat. We're sure we're going to be about this in that mean. But listen, we made an upgrade in net. All right. Let's see how it goes. Yep. Let it play out. Let it play out. We made an upgrade. We have a better goalie than we had before. If you didn't do anything, they'd be pissed, right? So it's like we did something. Let's see how it plays. The funny thing was is that it happened as like the oilers kind of turned things around and like, Skinner hit their things around and then it happened as opposed to when he was going through his real shit earlier on. But I mean, timing's weird with trades like this. So, hey, I'm looking at this thing positive. We just interviewed Brandon Bussey, approached the world in your life in a positive manner. Better help. Dot com. Better help. Dot com. Right? Yes. Yeah. Thank you guys. Thank you guys. And then also, Jari did he came to a couple of spit and check lots events or at least one of them. I remember seeing him when we were maybe there for the Stanley Cup finals. So he's a big check lots guy and it'll be playing in it. And here and apparently like after being put on waivers, there was a little bit of a disconnect between him and management. So the fact that he's got a new organization, he gets to come in, be comfortable and happy. I think the sky's a limit and we might see another oilers run. Yeah. Since, since, since Whit said that they're going to go on this run, Mick David's getting four points a night. Like he said, he's been amazing. Those him and Leon have been incredible. Yeah. Nothing like a game against the Leafs to get him going. Yeah. So, but I want to bring this up because you already mentioned like, uh, Maple Leafs fans and different graphs of stats and like, what is happening with Matthews? And I think it was Mike Johnson mentioning that it was like McKinney and McDavid Matthews. And now it's, it's, he's not even in the conversation. All the underlying posh numbers are crazy down on a downward trajectory. I think for the third year in a row or second, second year in a row, I, I think that there's an injury. There has to be. Has to be right. Don't see somebody that good, that dominant take a turn like he has and you're watching games. I saw one tweet, uh, three points for Mick David, three points for Leon saturday night, three puck touches for Matthews. Like that game was, that was kind of, I was like, wow, and he used to have shifts were dominant along the wall and physically, and defensively in his shot. It's, he has to be injured, right? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we talked about it a bit last pod. And I feel like by the day, it just keeps amplifying with people sitting on and it can get brutal there. Like kind of like the season, the way it started, I'm not going to like overreact. Um, it's really hard for a guy in his situation considering he's making top dollar, um, you know, not really sign those long term deals with Toronto. So it's not like you're going to get that leniency from the fan base. And when you're making top dollar, they want to see what Mick David is doing on the ice. They want to see what McKinnen is doing on the ice. I mean, he's making what? Fuck, and probably a million and a half more than what McKinnen is right now, maybe even a little bit more than that. But um, I just, yeah, you're not seeing that, that pop like we've seen before. And when you're a player like that, you know, there should be periods of a game where for two, three shifts in a row, he's just all world taking over and we're just not seeing that like we used to. And I mean, it could be a microcosm of a lot of things like he clearly doesn't have his guy Mitch Marner where, you know, they had chemistry to where offense would just naturally come easier. The power play, you know, because of that is, is not the same where he would, you know, score more goals on. I mean, this is guy, this is a guy who's removed a few years from a 69 goal season giga, right? So that's kind of what the expectation is for a lot of people. Now I will say like even though, even though like he is known for his goal scoring and taking over, it's not like he's a liability defensively, like he's still, he still contributes in a lot of areas of the game, but the thing is so do those other guys. And then they're able to provide you 100 points. And we're just not seeing that take over that we once did. And at this point, like, you don't hope a guy is injured, but you would hope that that's what's hindering him from not being able to play up to that capability, right? But then if you release that, I hope that it's, it's like he's going through something injury wise that is going to be able to be healed with, with rest, but you're looking at this season and how their treading water as is. And it's like, well, if he is dealing with a bit of a back injury, is he just going to keep going and pressing on through the Olympics and through this crazy schedule? Like, so that's where I could see the, you know, the fan base being a little bit frustrated where if they see him go on to play in the Olympics, you know, does does well playing with all those good players and then comes back and then is back to what we're seeing now. And then they maybe don't make playoffs. Then then you're going to really hear people barking online. So I, and the other thing going back to, to kind of what I was touching on about, he like, he, there's nowhere to escape. You're a first line center. You're going against the other night, he played, I think it was like 11 or 12 minutes against Celebrini when San Jose came to town when they, when they blew that two goal lead like, Celebrini, like, you got to keep up with this gazelle skating around the whole night. 19. Matthews is no spring chicken. He's a big body and more than likely dealing with a back injury. So, you know, you saw the last goal. I mean, you posted that one in the chat where it's like, well, it's three on three. That's not real hockey. But I could get at the end of a game where you're trying to keep up to Celebrini where you might be a little bit out of gas a minute into your shift three on three. So, he'd been out there a long time for that, that I didn't, I didn't know that. So that's, you know, and, and, and, and, and, turn it over was the problem. There's a million games going on, right? So it's hard to watch, but he's playing 20 to 22 minutes every night against the best centers in the world. So, if he's ending up where he's only gotten assist and, you know, they were successful in one, two, one, or three, two, people don't really give a fuck. They want to be blown away with these, these McKinnon, McCarr, uh, and the David shifts. And I don't think with where he's at right now, you're going to see that. You're seeing a guy who's going through something and he's trying to lead the best way that he can. And then of course with Toronto media, it's just going to be a shit storm every day until they see the Matthews of old. And I just don't know if we're going to see that this year. The scary days, if it's the back, that's very scary. It's brutal, dude. Has your your fucked when the when the back's gone like, people can't even live normal lives that aren't even athletes with back problems. Right. And then when he went over to Europe, it's just, yeah, it's sucks. I feel horrible if he is battling something. And once that backs an issue, it's like it never, it seems like never go away. You never want to get back surgery. He keeps brothers going through that right now, Brian. It's just, uh, it's just crazy to see though, like how dominant that guy was. And just to see a difference. And, and I'm sorry, guys, that's a change of subject. Quick. I did forget my, uh, the one tweet that really blew me away about the oilers and gold. And this is a dreamer 299793. That's Leon McDavid and Nougat. The Edmonds and oilers have a 123 10 and eight record when their save percentage has been 900 or above since 2223. That's crazy. So if it's hard, it could be 901. We'll go 16 and 0 in the playoffs. Yes. I would say that I would say that the average goal tending is basically getting like a 905 save percentage. Now I think it's gone up from the 900. It might be even closer to the 910 range, but fuck, just give you, give you 902. Give you a little, give you a little bit of leeway. 902, we're running the cup. And going back to kind of the state of the union of where the leaves are, if Matthews isn't playing to, to what we know and, and, and we've seen before, they don't have a snowball's chance and how of, of, of going to the Stanley Cup finals. I see them this year with the injuries they've dealt with in the shit storm and moving on from Mariner and trying to refine that identity. I think that they're a wild card team that if fully healthy and, and they're getting the goal tending that we've known to be accustomed to over the last few years, I think that they could end up in a simmerspot the last year going to the second round, winning a first round series. But in, in the case of Matthews, if we continue after the Olympics to see what we've seen and it is a back problem, shut them down. Shut them down. I don't think, I don't think the juices were to squeeze this year, given how things have gone. And I'm not saying like wave the white flag on the season, but you have to be worried about this guy because he's going to have two years left remaining on his deal. And you need him playing to that level if you have a chance now with where your teams at. So it sucks, but that's the reality. And I'm still going to root for him. And I'm not going to pepper him the way that everybody else is online because everybody goes through spurts like that in his career. And that's my guy. Pablo. So in brutal, brutal news for not just the city of Chicago, but hockey fans in general, Khan of a dart goes down. And I was just like, no, like this is an American. This is a guy who's, who's just kind of been blown away with what he's done this season and the paces he's been on and what he's been able to do with Chicago, beating the hunt for a playoff spot to see him on a fluke injury go down, just disgusted. And you could tell right away it was bad. They've announced he will not play until after the new year or it'll at least be, uh, he'll be re-evaluated after the new year. But my thing is to black hawks fans, I get the anger bar stool chief, a good buddy of ours, a guy who's been just so drawn into the black hawks fan philics, the excitement again. He's out there calling for shen's head along with thousands of other black hawks fans like, guys, they're up a goal with one second left on a face off in the defensive zone. And he didn't even do anything. And the best part was hearing Blaschle after the game, just saying, oh, it's a complete fluke of freak injury. It sucks. Why are black hawks fans mad at brain shen? Like, well, I, I'm so confused and I get your star player, the franchise player that you've now seen grow become a superstar goes down. It's brutal, but control yourselves a little bit. No, they can use your brain a little bit and understand brain shen is playing hard and he didn't even do anything wrong. I don't even think anything he did injured him. I think it kind of looked like possibly shoulder popped out or I don't know something with a rotator cuff. Hopefully it's not too serious, but the amount of anger and and vitriol going towards brain shen. It's like, guys, what the fuck are we talking about? I mean, I criticized the way he was playing defense and how he was playing pawn hockey last year. And every time I go to Chicago, I need three security guards. Okay. So it's me chkov and Philly. You just can't say anything. Yeah, can't say anything. Okay. You have to let alone engineers. You have to just, yeah, I agree with you, but that's such a difficult loss. And I, you know, I don't know if this would affect what they, what they decide about Olympics, but the way that it looks now and just from the conversations I'm having, it seems like he's going to be left off the list for the team, but has done everything that he can in order to earn the right to be in the conversation to make it. And yeah, this is the this sucks that he has to go through that and sort of the team. I feel like the team has been hitting a little bit of a wall lately. You know, they dealt with those two two bloa losses. So not as hot as a start. I feel like we're not saying Nazar's name is much either. So he didn't score in 20 games. I don't think. Yeah. Yeah. He, he, he was struggling in, in not as hot as he started the season. So let's just hope he, he heals up quick because he's obviously been must watch television for hockey fans. Regardless, if you're a black hawks fan or not, like he's like every time he's out there, he's creating now, you know, he's turned into one of those must watch guys. So you never want to see those guys go down in our game because we need all of it. But if he doesn't play, if he's not being reevaluated till January 1st and the team Canada's being named on New Year's Eve, like he's off sucks. Yeah, but they'll know they would know like what his time frame is of when he is going to come back or not. No. Yeah, but dude, if it was already a question mark, maybe it wasn't though, we don't know. True, true, but based on everything you're hearing from all the people in the know, it was still a question mark. Yeah. And if they're told, all right, he'll be back January 14th. Like that's what we think. You're going to, you're going to take him, so he's a month to get ready less than a month to get ready after not playing for a month. I don't know. I would be surprised. Yeah, I just think what he's done this year, he's, he's earned a spot on that team, whether I mean, obviously they have so many guys they can choose for and there's not a right answer, but I think if he's healthy and they had him, whether, you know, he got hurt or not right now, like I think you have to take him if he's healthy to go, if they were going to take him before, is the injury thing shouldn't affect whether he's going to make the team or not. Who do you, who do you take off of team Canada, assuming it's the same thing? Tom Wilson. So you have to root for USA. I think Dylan Strom said the same thing too. Really? He was getting chirped online for a, we're home, my God, we can say, we can't say things in just anymore. Are you guys, if Tom Wilson doesn't make it, are you guys going to beat that drum the entire Olympics? I'm going to beat it like I'm the drummer of AC DC playing fucking thunder struck. I'm going to fly to your house and take that hat. I'm going to send you American flags and fucking, I'm going to be in your face nonstop. Both that comment. Oh, yeah, I'm going to beat that drum. Wow. Okay. I'm going to beat it. I'm going to beat it like you beat something else after that saying, beggar, and I'm going to tell you right now that if you end up not having Tom Wilson on your team, you not only are going to be forced to root for the US, but I think I think we're that might that might seal it. That might seal it for us. Just not have forget, Mick David and McKinnan and Crosby and Martian and McCarris just know Tom Wilson the vibes and you know it too. The vibes will be like team Canada. Why didn't they bring this big muscular man of a man that runs around and kills people on a mini rink in Italy? Is it I think it's the same size as the one that you just built in your backyard, which would be play right into our favorite, but same amount of skates on it. I did say that. And I think I did get your hopes up that you could beat that drum the entire time, but when they do name them to then you can go explosion. You are going to be shaken in your goddamn boots like the goddamn boogie man's under your bed. So basically like if you don't name them and then I'm beaten that drum and Brady could truck running people over. I'm going to be loving life. Now if you don't, if you do name them and he knocks out a defenseman on team USA and can cost his three other forwards, I'm going to be living in hell dealing with you. So this is this is a big decision. Yeah, with the first thing we got. I actually, I actually think it's already done deal. He's on the desk. I mean, they can name so many forwards. Um, show me that who would be that guy for you guys where if they kind of like an outsider, if they don't name him to the team, you're going to be like, what are we doing here? Who's the US out there? We don't have the depth you have in terms of like so many different options and we trust Billy Garen and Bill. We trust. Yeah. Good answer. Yeah. Holy fuck keep kissing Billy. Jesus. I say. I mean, I mean, Tage Thompson. That would be my guy. Tage Thompson. He's on the team and Robertson after this year. He's been Robertson. Like he's he's fucking unreal. He is just that guy is such a sniper. It's sick to watch. So, um, but I want to show no Jacob Fowler ending the show. What is it? It's not much. So considering we did talk about Pittsburgh and agree, doobie stock. It's still going up. It was the mayor that made the trade though. It wasn't doobie. Oh, shit. Yeah. We have credit. Yeah. Um, one thing I do have an issue with though is how they've been blowing these third period leads. And we're not talking like, oh, tight one goal game, although they did when they were on the power play against Anaheim. That one you cannot happen face off on the offensive zone, but against the Toronto Maple Leafs when I was live in attendance, they were up three nothing in the third lost in regulation. And then the other night at home to the San Jose sharks. Was it not five one with 14 minutes to go? You you're fighting for a playoff spot here. Five to one. I wish we had army on here to talk about what the fuck is going on and why this team that we thought was going to surprise everybody. I mean, they were in a playoff position. If it was for these blown leads, they would be, I believe second in the metro right now. They could be at first in the metro. No problem based on like, they do it. They've had some other ones. How about this? So the pants had a five one third period lead first. This is Jay fresh hockey versus San Jose. That gives you a 99.9% chance of winning. They had the three nothing lead against Utah, which gives you a 97.9% chance of winning combined. It was a one in 47,619 probability of losing both games. So those like you with the Leafs one and those two you just mentioned, those are inexcusable losses. The one where they tied it up in the like 0.01 seconds against Anaheim. Okay, but you're all in the power play. So let's throw that one in there. That's four games inexcusable. That's eight total points. I believe in what? Two plus five in a row. Three of those you get the single point. That's a five point swing, which is the world of difference. And once again puts them in second. If not first place in the metro. So wait the fuck up Pittsburgh. Kobe, get them a sniffer. Stop worried about your slump busters and get those guys some fucking snipers going up for the third period. Hey, the best is army after the second. They're like they're going to have to get ask her off hooked up to the IV machine. Like maybe they should have hooked up the penguins to it because they ran out of gas. But to blow that lead, if you look at like the time stamp, what was it? 14 minutes with 14 minutes and like 20 seconds off there up five one. Like that's that's one of those things. Even like if you're on the bench being like, all right, boys, we can do this. Like no one's even saying that at that point. It's like, okay, let's just get on the bird and go to the next fucking city. No, but the bench on San Jose as they kept scoring. And I can't believe San Jose sitting in a playoff spot right now. That is one of the stories of the season. Yeah. It's awesome. And it sucks. Will Smith got hurt too. I know. Kind of a scary looking injury. I think he hit his head going down and celebrating. He jumped right in there, got right in the mix. It was pretty fucking sick to see him get in there and get his guy, his running mate, try to defend him a little bit, but we don't want to see him out. He'd been making a huge step his sophomore season. And he's been awesome to watch. So that sucks. But San Jose, what they're doing. I mean, there's no chance. Mike Greer thought going into the year that come December 15th, they'd be sitting in a playoff spot. There's just no way. If they get in the playoffs, we're soft ski. I mean, gave up one of his kids. He should be up for Jack Adams. Egg, egg, we fucking laugh boys, but they've turned it around. Sky wants it. So any of you people are going through a tough time, especially in sports. You got a couple of kids. If you got two, you still got one to give one away. Math big brain. On that note, is it Dan Rusynowski, who is the TV play by play for the San Jose Sharks. I want to make sure I'm given the right person the proper credit because I don't know if you heard the goal call. He's been there forever. The goal call on that OT winner that they had against Pittsburgh. Go listen to it. He's been doing, he's been doing the play by play there for San Jose forever. Some of these guys don't get enough credit. He's right up there with that broadcast team is right up there with the Colorado Avalanche and how much enthusiasm they bring. So just an incredible goal call and bring in that one home. So one of the best comebacks in shark's history. I think that that's all I had to bring up other than now to wrap things up. Yeah, last thing was just shadow Jacob Fowler. Actually, we got two things left. One is one is current NHL related. Jacob Fowler, one is first start against the Pittsburgh penguins. Ken Dryden, Carrie Price, Patrick was first start for the Canadians. There's all against the penguins. All resulted in W's and followed it the same thing. He was awesome in that game. He ended up losing an MSG on Saturday night. They were up three nothing to JT Miller scored on a rocket and over time to to beat him. But I think based on that first game and some of the saves he made like late in that in that Rangers game. He gave up one bad one from like behind the goal line against the Rangers, but he looks, he looks the part. They had no intention on him playing in the NHL this season. Ideally play the entire year in the minors. The goal technique's been so bad that they brought him up and we'll see what happens if he stays. Montenobo hasn't started a game in like two weeks. Doe busses there. We'll see if Fowler stays there, but excited for Canadians fans to hear all this discussion and the viral clip of his draft interview where he was wasn't in the USA. He wasn't drafting the O HL very energetic. He's talking all the guys and then to see the resume coming in and then play like that in your first start like those other three legends in the Canadians. Pretty cool. So shout out him. Kid from Florida playing in the NHL. He grew up playing on a team with Gavin Brindley and Shamest Casey from Florida. Kind of crazy. And now Maya Culpa for me and unreal job bringing that up with like the fact that all those guys made their debut against Pittsburgh. That was such a crazy. That's why I think that the league is scripted sometimes and Gary's just a puppet master at the top. I fucked up and thanks to R.A. for texting me because he's listening. Shout out to the rear. Uh, is Randy Han who is the play by play guy. Look at that stallion. Sixty seven years old. Look at how fucking good. Look at this guy is. Gee, what a weapon. But he was the one who made that goal call. So I fucked that up. But they do such a great job. They're out in San Jose. So pumping their tires out of boy R.A. Yep. Nice job. All right. He's texting me right now. I got the bubbles. What's he saying? What's he saying? I'm gonna say you a picture of him hitting his bong. Well, he sent me before that, it was a Quentin Tarantino interview and he agreed with me on the his take about Paul Dano. So that was the last one. And then he's got the bubbles are still going. Come on, Array. Deliver. So, uh, so tough news about an amazing person that Keith and I knew. Brian Walsh known to everyone around the Boston area is Duky Walsh passed away. Keith and I are friendly with it with his son Rory's great, great guy. And this guy was such a legend. Yeah. Like an incredible hockey player, the all time leading scorer at Notre Dame. So he's from Boston. It wasn't common back then. He passed away from a long battle with dementia, just a horrible disease. But this guy, one of the greatest high school hockey players ever in Massachusetts and a better person. Like I remember. So Rory's a year older than me, but we were in the same grade and, you know, just playing with and against each other growing up. Keith's dad played with Duky Walsh in was it? When did they play together growing up? Yeah. So like I think it was like, grew up like in, in basically like the projects in Cambridge. Uh, one of, I don't know how many brothers and sisters he had, but like a tough upbringing and it was very uncommon back in the day for like star players from around here, not to go to BU or PC. And I think it was smart for him. Like based on what was going on in his life to kind of get away and, and go to South Bend. He went out there, but his four years at Notre Dame. 73 and, 73, 74 to 76, 77. He had 33 points, 58 points, 65 points and 69 points. He played a little bit in the WHO for the Calgary Cowboys and became like, he was like a legend around here. Like what was his school? Matt, non right, Keith? Matt, yeah. What was the quote somebody said? It was a, uh, it was a gas station with books before Duky Walsh went there. But this guy was like just the most positive guy. I remember being like 14 years off playing at Fair and his son played at Milton Academy and everyone, you know, you knew who Duky was because of how good of a player he was. And I remember seeing him several times. He's like, he'd give me little tips like Ryan, you're doing great. You look unbelievable out there. Just like pumping you up and like coming from a guy like that. It just meant the world. Like he was just such a positive influence on everyone in his life. He had grandkids tragically lost his, lost his daughter. She passed away. Rory's sister a couple of years back. Like he'd been through a lot. Their families been through a lot. Just great people. And I know buddy Yandell was real close to them. Like everyone was. He was fucking nails. Pizz this guy. Like a guy that you're just, so old school, smaller guy and stature, but would fuck you up, would play hard. Like what were you saying about playing back pick up basketball? Yeah. So he like, like, like Whit said, he was from the projects, but he dressed like he lived in on Nantucket. He'd always have like, you know, a dress nice. He had loafers on all the time. Nice press. Yeah, my dad's a lot. Yeah, exactly. Just like a gentleman looked like a gentleman. So I was playing basketball outside at our other friend, Bunzo's house in Duky lived across the street. He comes over. He sees me playing. He's like, yeah, let me jump in there with his loafers on. He hit me with like 36 elbows right in the chest just to be like, you know, what? I'm still here and just giving it to me. And he loved that I was giving it back to him. But what Whit said about him, like you were playing against his son when he was at Milton Academy. That's a big rivalry in Massachusetts and him going up to you and giving you advice and helping you out. That's lost. There's none of that shit anymore. And that needs to come back. So all you parents out there who have hockey players, be more like Duky, root for everyone, be there for everyone and leave by example, because that's what he did. He was one of those guys. We had heard about him just in the hockey scene growing up. And then you just see what type of guy he was, just a loving dad, a caring, cared about all of his kids' friends. Like, yeah, I'm never like he would, he was the guy like my sister would come in the ring. He'd hand her five bucks to go get a snack. Like he's just like an all time guy. He's going to be missed by many, many of people and just, you know, one of those guys, if you can, just be more like Duky, because what a what a fucking gentleman he was. Hey, and how about this? He was even up to like a couple of months ago. I don't know exactly. He was still going out, like playing like Shinny hockey with all his buddies that he'd skated with forever. And Rory went to watch his son kind of like, how is he still playing right now? Like what he's going through? And he went there and his dad got the puck and he ended up shooting and scoring on the wrong net. And Rory's like, oh, I got it. I got to get him off the ice and all the guys are like, no, man, for a while, he's kind of been doing that, but it's Duky like he ain't going anywhere. Just an unreal guy. Like I was I was I was crushed. I saw Rory's post on Instagram of a picture and of him and his dad. And it was just tough. Like a legendary, legendary person. And I just feel so sad for the wall's family. So we wanted to show Duky out. Yeah. Thanks for bringing. Shout out to hockey guys and how many special people you're meeting this game. So I hope everyone has a great rest of the week. We'll see you Friday. We're back to the normal schedule. And everyone have a great week. Game notes Wednesday and Chico's you you corner'll be coming out pretty soon, I think. And boys, sorry for your loss. And just like thanks for sharing that. And like you said, Yanns, like those types of things are important. And yeah, yeah, sure. It's a it's a lost art and a lost love. So PM tomorrow, Chico, Chico's you for Yukon. And they're having a hell of a season. So you see some pictures here. They got an amazing new building facility and rank with a cool atmosphere. So checked out out tomorrow on the chick's pick and Chico's YouTube. Biz, how many followers? We're growing. Man, I think we got 434 now. We've gained like 1500 in the last couple days. And obviously the going back to the YouTube channel. Make sure you subscribe. The page sandbagger we talked about it at the beginning of the show. Thanks to her too for just being so cool and like hanging with the boys and like it was like with it was like hey with one of the boys except she was a fucking rocket and 10 out of 10 and you know, it was a little nervous talking to her and start. But she really warmed me up and yeah, go check out that sandbagger. And not only the Yukon one, but in order to prep for it, go watch the last one they did with with Maine as well. Very cool barn and a lot of cool things going on with that program. So the chick let's fucking world is humming right now. Oh my goodness. I forgot to mention about Duky Tupas that Rory told me he loved our show and he loved you. Yeah, he thought you were a cartoon. He thought you were a cartoon character. I am a fucking cartoon character. You guys keep me honest and I appreciate that along with Billy G and we love all our listeners. Everybody who's watching now. Thank you so much and I love you boys. I appreciate it. I love you boys. See you later.
