The Clippers Played With Chris Paul's Legacy... It's UNFORGIVABLE

•Feb 25, 2026about 2 months agoSummary
The hosts discuss Chris Paul's retirement and legacy with the Clippers, debate the 2028 Olympic basketball roster, analyze college basketball prospects like Darren Peterson and AJ Diouf, and critique NBA tanking practices and MVP qualification rules.
Insights
- Chris Paul's departure from the Clippers represents a broader pattern of mishandling franchise legends' legacies, similar to Blake Griffin's trade to Detroit
- Load management in college basketball is emerging as a new business strategy for top prospects, with Darren Peterson's minute restrictions raising concerns about NBA readiness
- The 65-game minimum for MVP/All-NBA eligibility may inadvertently award accolades by default rather than merit if top candidates remain injured
- Small market NBA cities face structural disadvantages in player recruitment due to hotel quality and entertainment options, affecting competitive balance
- Intentional tanking by teams like Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings requires systemic incentive changes beyond fines to maintain competitive integrity

We had a little hiatus last week, but we're back. Joining me is none other than the one and only, the most requested man in the DMs, Mad Maximus Maxwell. Hey, what up, Mad? What up, my people? What's up? What's up, bro? What's going on, bro? You told me it's freezing out there right now, huh? They got old Max in the house. Oh, yeah. I ain't going nowhere today. I'm just sitting up in this old man chair. lean back on this motherfucking massage on the heat on this motherfucker and sit my ass down right here you know the older we get that cold weather be wearing on them bones especially down here this shit cold as a motherfucker over here shit just for the record it's 80 out here I got a short song living good I might go skateboarding a little bit go ahead with all that man that's cool you know I got that well I can't skateboard We got the Dr. J episode coming up. Really exciting. One of the legends. You got any Dr. J memories or stories for us? Yeah, man. Like I always said, man, I mean, everybody's safe. You know, that was the guy who I looked up to. And when I was coming up, I used to watch him, Dr. J. You know, that was my favorite player ever. So, I mean, it was fun. So, I mean, yeah, but just the move he did against the Lakers, you know, the basket, you know what I mean? So I got a lot of memories of Dr. J, you know. I mean, when he went at Larry Bird ass. He used to scrap back then. He used to be a scrapper too. Yeah, he used to scrap too. But, yeah, so what I got – I mean, that was my favorite player, man. But Dr. J, man, yeah, that's why I played this game. And that's why. That's dope. You know what I mean? I mean, because of Dr. J, man. That's my favorite player ever. He was a little before my time, but I think what I took away from kind of obviously seeing his on-the-court greatness and what he was doing with the acrobatics and someone who MJ looked up to, someone you looked up to. But I took away his style, just how motherfucking fly he is. Still to this day, he's still fly. I think his 76th birthday is coming up, he told us. So I want to say it's in May, if I'm not mistaken. And also, I just got news yesterday, man. I'm co-hosting his golf tournament in Philly this summer. So you got to come out, Max. Come out. I'm coming. Come out there and play with us. I'm coming. I'm there. I'm there. But, yeah. But, yeah, this Thursday, Julius Irving on all the smokes. So make sure you guys tap in and check that out. One of my former teammates and my brother, CP3, announced his retirement last week. what do you think about his legacy 12 time all-star nine time all nba defensive team rookie of the year definitely a top 75 guy someone that kobe spoke very highly of kobe spoke very highly i was on the laker team when he was trying to recruit chris and it was all but a done deal till they axed it they both have fond memories of each other playing on the all-star team together i mean chris is someone an acquired taste i think chris gets a bad rap because max he he could have played in your air from a standpoint. He's going to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. Right. He's hard-knows. Yes. He's tough. He'll guard one through four if the four is small enough. But one of the toughest soldiers I ever went through. Absolutely. When you think Chris Paul, what do you think of? First of all, guy was tough as nails. I mean, tough as nails. Chris Paul, when I think about Chris Paul, a man, a God-fearing man, a family man you know first and as a basketball player man I got to know his mom and dad and my son played for us up on the CP3 Tristan Maxwell I see where he got it from the tenaciousness and the way he played and just to be a pro the way he was night in and night out I mean one of the guys that never ever really you really never heard nothing really bad come out about Chris Paul. I mean you know what, since he's been playing and since he's been NBA or whatever, in college or whatever Chris Paul, I mean the man is just a good man and that's what I like to say about Chris but as far as basketball man, he was a dog we know that part, he was a dog, he wanted to cut your damn head off and that's where he came to play every night. Yeah, I love Chris Paul and love everything about the family, man. It was a blessing for me just to even know this man. You know what I mean? So, yeah, man, that's how I feel about Chris Paul. One of the last pure point guards. Yes. You know, a pure point guard. You think Rondo and CP were kind of the last of the guys I play with that are pure point guards. Point guards are different these days. They're score-first type guys. not that they can't dish, but they're more score first type guys. But again, the one thing I think bothered me about all this was the way he went out with the Clippers. That really bothered me. You know, arguably one of their best players, if not their best player in franchise history. Right. He announced it's a fail world tour. You know what you're getting when you have him. I mean, T. Lou was the assistant coach for Doc when we were there with the Lob City team. So you already know what he did. And like I said, Chris is going to tell you how it is, how you want to hear it. And I think that probably rubbed some people the wrong way because he wasn't able to produce the way he produced in the past when he said what he said. But I'm sure he wasn't wrong. That's all it was about. So for him to go out, for the Clippers to do him the way they did him really bothered me. And to be honest with you, I think I've only worked one game since then. I've had to cancel the game. I don't think I'm going to be going back, to be honest with you, Max, because I just think that shit is fucked up. I mean, you're playing with somebody's legacy. You're playing with somebody's last year. They did Blake super dirty when they signed Blake to a big-ass contract and then they trade him to Detroit. I mean, you do your franchise, possibly two of the greatest players that your organization has ever had. You do them dirty. It's just that shit rubs people the wrong way. And obviously it could be water under the bridge of some people and the team had played good since he had moved on. But, you know, you don't forget bullshit like that. Absolutely. It's just disappointing that CP didn't get to go out the way he deserved to go out. Arguably a top five point guy. We'll get into that debate another day. But CP was one of them. Yes, absolutely. And congratulations on a great, long, prosperous career. Never got that championship, but one of the greatest players to never win a championship. And now, like I told his son, it's on little CP now. Oh, yeah. So he gets to sit back and get some time with the family and coach his son. And don't be surprised if Chris is not a high school basketball coach. That's right. For me, don't be surprised if he's not coaching his son next year. Winter Olympics just wrapped. 2028 are the LA Olympics. Now it's time to start thinking about the USA basketball team. Someone on ESPN came out and put a 12 man roster together. And I don't really take their rankings or anything they say too serious because it's not necessarily people that have a background in the game they just have an opinion we all have opinions but i prefer to listen to my opinion from people who've done it um this is going to be interesting because there's two guys that still come to mind most likely the bra to be done he'll be damn what 45 46 he'll be on some oscar schmidt shit if he came back uh but kd and steph will both be right around 39 years old and i think kd came out and said like he wants his plan paraphrasing he wants his play to do the talking he doesn't want an honorary og spot he wants his play to be able to solidify why he's on that team right um i think steph would be in that same boat i think if they're both healthy i think they both get a chance to make one more run this would be katie's fifth olympics going for his fifth gold medal which no one has done uh on the basketball side So that'd be amazing. Right. So we'll have to see again. They'll both be 39 in 2028. But I think the way they take care of bodies, barring any serious injury, they both should and could be on that team. So I'm going to name a handful of guys and we got to pick 12 of them. Actually, this is what the, is this the ESPN one? So I'm going to give you what the ESPN guy did first. Cam, write these down so you can have a little reference for them. So they pick Cooper Flagg, Con Canipple, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Halliburton, Jalen Duren, Amen Thompson, Shet Holmgren, Bam Adebayo, Scotty Barnes, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Williams, Jason Tatum. So from this list, and I'll go first, I think in that first row, I think Cooper Flagg and Anthony Edwards make it. I think in that second row it be interesting because I think the three bigs will be Jalen Duren Chet Holmgren and Bam out of bio It be interesting to see if all three of them get in But I think those are our bigs because you know traditionally who the big they going to have to deal with Only Jokic is the real strong big they not going to deal with right Because Wimby's a big guy. Wimby. Who? But Wimby's not – I'm talking about big guys. So that's what I'm talking about. None of these – Duren and Chet and Bam, they're not light in the ass, but they're not traditional centers. They're bigs, but they're not traditional centers. And I think the only big they're going to really have to deal with is Jokic. which obviously Giannis will be out there and, and, and Wimby be out there, but they're more skilled, bigger, stronger, you know, bigs than, than traditional. So Cooper flag, Anthony Edwards, a combination of Jalen Duren, Chet Holmgren and bam, I think will be the bigs. I think Cade Cunningham's a lock. And I think Jason Tatum. So how many is that right there? That's seven. So if you look at this, here's some snubs. Keep your thoughts, Max, keep your thoughts. because I want to name all these. So the snubs would be Jalen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Johnson, Palo, Stephan Castle, Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Jalen Brunson, Evan Mobley. Who's that one? Donovan Klingin. Who's that? Don't sleep. The big guy. The big guy. Is he nice? The big guy in Portland. Big boy from Portland. Portland. Oh, the kid in Portland. Yeah, I like him. Yeah, average. Average. Double, double. You can't flip too. Apologies. I wasn't familiar with your name, but I know your game, as Shaq would say. Yeah, he is. Triple J, AJ DeBansa, Cam Boozer. I don't even think you can put Anthony Davis on this list respectfully. I don't know if his body will be where it needs to be in two years. And then Kevin Durant and Steph. So I got seven so far. So I think Jalen Brown, the only way Jalen Brown doesn't make this team is if they blackball him. Like they did the last time. Shit, this is the last seven. There ain't no way he shouldn't have been on the last goddamn Olympic team. because I mean we know why we know where that comes from though it was the shoe shit right I think it was the shoe shit so if the only reason why he's not on the team is if the US committee is blackballing himself you heard it Pierre plain and simple if he's not on the team he's being blackballed and that's talent wise he's there so I would put Jalen Brown on there that's eight yeah I mean how did a snub big body Brunson so that's a conversation to me so So do you take – see, I think I'm taking a Tyrese Maxey or a Jalen Brown. Or a Jalen Brown. Yeah, I like it. You know what I mean? So I think Jalen – so this is my – so Jalen Brown is my eighth. I think Jalen Johnson from Atlanta is going to sneak in there. He's a 16 kid that's doing everything and keeps getting better. I'm going to come back to Tyrese Maxey. I think Devin Booker should be a lock-in on that team. And then I want to – But you know what? I really like more Steven Castle. Nah. So that was another debate we had. So turn it back to that page. So are you taking Castle over Jalen Brown or Tyrese Maxey, though? No. I like Castle a lot. No. But I think he's young, and I think he will eventually make an Olympic team. No. But are you putting him over Jalen? And that was my same question for Jalen Brunson. Are you putting Jalen Brunson over Jalen Brown and Tyrese Maxey? No. So it's only one spot left there. So, and then I want to throw a wild card in there. I mean, is it a Darren Peterson, who we're going to touch on a little bit later in the show? Is it an A.J. DeBansa? Is it a Cam Boozer, one of the most fundamentally sound college players we've seen in a long time who's just a winner? And then, again, Steph and KD I think should be on that team. So that's 12. So what's my list then? Let's go back. So your list as it stands now is Cooper Flagg, Anthony Edwards. This is it. Kate Cunningham. Devin Booker. Maxie. Curry. Curry. KD. Yeah. Tatum. Your forwards would be Tatum, Flagg, Brown, and KD. And then your bigs are Durin, Chet, Bam. How many is that? 12. That's 12? That's no Jalen Johnson. That's no Jalen Johnson on there? So I want to take – I'm probably going to take – Because you took Steph and KD. Yeah. So let's say Steph and KD are grandfathered in. Let me put two more people on there if they're not in. So one would definitely be Jalen Johnson, and then I'd probably go with the Scotty Barnes maybe. Yeah, because, you know, he got to lock up. You know, you got to have somebody to play defense. Big, 6'9", plays both ways. Yeah, yeah. Strong, tough. I like him, yeah, Scotty Barnes. So no Halliburton, no Donovan Mitchell. Respectfully, I think there's guys that are – and I like Halliburton, But I think the guys that we have are better than him. And they play defense. Oh, yes, absolutely. You know, so Jalen Brown's definitely going to lock up. I would have to see more defense up for Maxie. But I think Maxie would be one of those guys that understands his role and goes out there next year. The same way, I don't think people respect how much Devin Booker sacrificed in the last Olympics, where they gave him a role to go out there and play, and he played that shit to a tee. And I think it made him a better player because we know his ability to put the ball in the basket. But he took a huge step back. No, he did. One of the ultimate glue guys with his skill set was really impressive to me. Right, absolutely. It's going to be interesting to see. I mean, obviously a ton of talent. You know, this new generation is coming in loaded. I mean, we're seeing the last, and I hope people appreciate the last of, you know, hopefully we get Steph and KD for another two, three years. You know, we probably get LeBron for one more year. Like, this new generation is filled with talent and skill. I mean, we didn't even mention Evan Mobley, who's someone I really like, who I think at some point will make an Olympic team. But I think the U.S. team is in really good hands. But I do think it'll be good to have those OG vets for this one last run to teach this next generation what it's going to be like moving forward before they completely hand the keys over. If there's one player that's not in the NBA today, that would make the 28 Olympic team, who would it be? I would say AJ. AJ. I would say AJ. He's got 6'9". AJ, yeah. He's got both of those. You got thinking. Yeah. And he's young, too. I want to say he's, what, 17 or 18? He's 18 this year, so he would only be 20 at that time. He's going to have two more years under his belt. Yeah. I'm a big fan. Me. I am, too. He'll be 21. He'll be 21. I am, too. I love him. I'm hungry on both sides of the ball. Him and Cooper Flagg, I got a chance to see. Yeah. In a day where AAU is nasty, I saw both those kids play, and they competed, picked up full court, and were dogs on both sides of the ball. So that won me over outside of their skill set and what Cooper's been doing in the league and AJ leading college basketball and scoring. In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict? A villain? A nurse named Lucy Letby. Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, Doubt, the case of Lucy Letby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Letby was. no voicing of any skepticism or doubt it'll cause so much harm at every single level of the british establishment of this is wrong listen to doubt the case of lucy let be on the iheart radio app apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts hi this is joe winterstein host of the spirit daughter podcast where we talk about astrology natal charts and how to step into your most vibrant life. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast. This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families. Late one night, Bobby Gumpright became the victim of a random crime. He pulls the gun, tells me to lie down on the ground. He identified Jermaine Hudson as the perpetrator. Jermaine was sentenced to 99 years. I'm like, Lord, this can't be real. I thought it was a mistaken identity. The best lie is partial truth. For 22 years, only two people knew the truth. Until a confession changed everything. I was a monster. Listen to Burden of Guilt Season 2 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Clayton Eckerd, and in 2022, I was the lead of ABC's The Bachelor. Unfortunately, it didn't go according to plan. He became the first Bachelor to ever have his final rose rejected. The internet turned on him. If I could press a button and rewind it all, I would. But what happened to Clayton after the show made even bigger headlines. It began as a one-night stand and ended in a courtroom, with Clayton at the center of a very strange paternity scandal. The media is here. This case has gone viral. The dating contract. Agree to date me, but I'm also suing you. Please search warrant. This is unlike anything I've ever seen before. I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trapped. This season, an epic battle of he said, she said, and the search for accountability in a sea of lies. I have done nothing except get pregnant by the f***ing bachelor. Listen to Love Trapped on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Moving on to another college guy who is drawing some attention, Darren Peterson. Strange season, you know, reporting hamstring issues, some cramping issues. He has times that he flashes greatness of some of the greatest players we've ever seen. He embodies that at times. I'm interested to see what he does in the tournament. But if you look at his numbers, he's at 27 minutes a game. And I think we selfishly want to see more because he is such a great player. We want to see what is what are what are college games? 32 minutes a game for 40 minutes a game. So a little bit over half the game. I think people want to see more. But at the same time it 20 points a game It 47 from the field and 40 from three He he played in 17 games he missed how many 10 or 11 around that like aj for example has played 10 more games than yeah right so but i think what's rubbing people the wrong way is kind of i think he's exerting the business of basketball and i think nate brought up a great point today i mean if you're a number one pick number two pick you're you're pretty much guaranteed at least 100 million in the coming years you know what i mean so on the flip side where we're seeing aj play every game and he's leading college basketball and scoring and is you know he he is the leader of his team and every night you can count on him yeah you don't see that from peterson when he's out there he's the absolute man but you'll see him hit shots and take himself out i don't know if that's his agent i don't know if that's his family i don't know if that's his manager but max this could be and i hate to say this this could be the new load management of top college players only he's the only one doing it because if you look at all this is a loaded freshman class and everyone else is playing every single game as many minutes as they can and having great seasons this guy is still having a really good season but he's he's on load management so what are your thoughts when you see someone with that much talent um not necessarily just go out there and enjoy his college experience we know he's only going to be there for a year um what do you think when you see him miss 10 or 11 games some of them maybe are for for real reasons but for the most part kind of minute restriction himself and and kind of on load management while you're in college hey no disrespect to my guy Kyrie me and Jelani we was talking about this earlier he might as well just did what Kyrie did just played in the motherfucking tournament you know I mean you know I mean not played in the season so but um So, I mean, I don't know. It's weird. I mean, shit, I just don't think if you can play 32 games, I don't know how you could end up playing 82 games. You know, see what I'm saying? That's going to be tough. I mean, I'm just saying. That's a great point. I don't know the kid, but my thing is that I know it's a grind. And, Matt, you know that part, too, about the NBA season. It's 82 games, man. this kid can't play 32 games, man. That's a problem, man. So I don't know. I don't know. I keep seeing him checking himself out. And, I mean, they're crucial points of the game. I mean, you'll hit us. I mean, this is crazy. I mean, I've never, ever seen nothing like this in my life. But, I mean, but, you know, Bill Self, you know, I blame his ass, too. You got to put a lot on him, too. You know, he let this motherfucker do that, too, now. But you see Bill Self, not to his defense, but has been coming out like, hey, this wasn't as planned. And I think back in the day, Max, you could blame the coaches a little more because they had a little bit more power. But I think the school and the coaches are powerless when it comes to this because I don't think it's up to them. You know what I mean? I don't think we live in a day and age where you can make a prudential number one pick, go out there and play. He's got to want to do it. And I think you made a great point, Max, of all young players hit that rookie wall or even that second year wall of playing, let's say, at the most 35 games in the season and then jump into 82 plus preseason plus playoffs. That's a big lift. But I'll tell you this. I was with someone in the front office, an assistant coach, and a commentator yesterday at this golf tournament, and they were saying that front offices are concerned about this. This is something they're concerned about. Again, so to your point, the ability, if you can't get through this many college games, How are you going to make it to the next level? Or just his, and, you know, does he really love the game? And he said he did. And, again, we don't want to speak for him because we don't know what's going on. I think this is more business of the game and his potential earnings. So, again, I understand that. But college is supposed to be go out there and do your thing. You know what I mean, man? Have fun. Period. Have fun, too. So, again, having a really solid season. Really excited to see what he does in the tournament. You know, they just beat Houston last night, right? They just beat the number two team. What's Houston, three? Oh, Houston's five. So they beat a tough Houston team last night, and obviously he played really well. So when he's on the floor, there's not a question of his talent. The question is just, is he going to be on the floor? Absolutely. That's his thing. What's new in the gutters? Some news around NBA small markets. The gutters is a tough name for this segment right here. Anthony Edwards. I need to get him on the show, by the way. He was funny. I saw a little edit of this. He said Memphis has dirty hotels and Draymond Green. Oh, Draymond double down? I didn't see Draymond double down on it. Is there a clip of it right here? Ant-Man's pretty blunt about it, but yes. I think they may have the worst group of hotels in the league. For sure. We had an issue there where we used to stay at one hotel in Memphis, and this day's back. We stopped staying there because their sprinklers just went off for no reason in the room and like drenched all the Andrew Bogut's stuff. Like the sprinkler system, like it was a fire, just went off. Drenched all Bogut's stuff. And they didn't want to do anything about it. So we switched hotels then, right? So it's been an issue. it's gotten a little better I must say but it's not it's still not the other cities so we'll see what happens in Memphis with the hotels I guess you know I had a perception and this is not even the disrespect because I had a perception in Memphis that was similar to what they said and then when I went out there I actually enjoyed it it was everything I needed in my life at the time coming fresh off a divorce and coming off a dysfunctional Lob City team I was you know kind of able to reset and center they had great food The women were very nice to me out there. And, you know, it was a really hospitable city. Everyone was super cool. You know what I mean? But it is one of those cities outside looking in. If you don't spend a ton of time there, you know, Max, what are some other cities you think of? You think of Memphis. What are some other cities you think of? Like, damn, we got to go here now. What are some other cities you think about? Is this the Draymond clip? Utah. Hold on. Utah. Utah is a good one. Milwaukee. Wonderful. Oh, my goodness. Milwaukee. Milwaukee. People didn't want to go to SAC, although SAC was a hit. And people didn't want to go to SAC. Detroit, I ain't like Cleveland. Well, that's back when we were. Yeah. Detroit was back when we were out. We went to Detroit for a StockX thing. We actually stayed in the city, and it was dope. But you remember, that's back when we were out there. They were at the Palace of Auburn Hills, so we were out there 45 an hour away from the city. Yeah, you can, I mean, all men's land. I ain't like Cleveland. Cleveland was there too. Shit, the big ass water rats out there in Cleveland and shit. The fuck is like cats and shit. The fucking rats make it like cats. I remember they used to have the Peabody where they had walked the little ducks out all the time. I think that's where we all used to stay. And then they built that new, and I forgot what it's called, but it's right across the street from the arena where most of the teams stay now. But, I mean, it's a small market team, small city. you know you're not going to get the five star Ritz and we're accustomed to staying until we sound a little bougie right now but it's just a little different than some of these little smaller cities he said these shit ass cities moving on but hold on Matt how did it change from team to team because you're on a lot of different teams and it's up to the team to decide accommodations to some degree I don't think I mean because some I mean you only had two options in Memphis it was that newer hotel that's across the street from the arena or the Peabody so I mean I don't think it's definitely up the teams are going to put you in the best available. Right. So some of these cities just don't have best in anything. Speaking of smaller cities and small markets, and I hate to dog my hometown team, but this is a little love, I guess. They snapped a 16-game losing streak. Damn. Max, you had a quick pit stop in Sacramento. Oh, yeah, I love Sacramento. Was that at the – what year was that? That was in 90 – what it was? 98, 98? Yeah, 98 when I was there. Okay. So that's when they were starting to get good, right? That was Webb and all them boys. So did you have J. Will or maybe at that time? I had J. Will. J. Will. So J. Will was still there? Yeah. I think that was the best we've ever seen as far as, you know, someone who was a Kings fan. That was the best team that era. They had about a four-year, five-year run. Webb was the centerpiece. With Vladi and Paja and Vladi. and Bobby Jackson and Bibby and Jay Will. They had a lot of talent there. The architect of that was Jeff Petrie. And then obviously the great Rick Adelman was the coach. But since it's been in shambles and I saw it firsthand. And this is not a knock on ownership, but ownership has issues trusting the people they hire, giving power to people that, you know, shit on the team in the draft and, you know, missed on a ton of draft picks. So, you know, my man, Doug Christie's the head coach right there, right now they've shut the team down and they're such a bad team. I don't even think the NBA can find them for tanking. They're just not a good team, you know, but they've, they've shut Zach Levine down. They've got Sabonis down. You know, you got DeMar withering away over there. You got Russell Westbrook playing his ass off withering away over there. I don't know what it's going to take to bring light to this fan base that definitely deserves it. That's one of the greatest fan bases in the league and the product they continue to put out is nasty so this is coming from a place of love sacramento fans so don't be dming me and blowing my shit up nothing more than i that i want to see in this team yes do better bring me in the front office and let me help you guys i have i have a i have a way of connecting and seeing talent and have a huge platform yes let me help get this let me help i would love i would love to help hey y'all Bring my boy Matt in there, man, because y'all hiring motherfuckers don't know what they're doing. So bring somebody in there and know the game, man. Bring my man. We're going to talk about this some more. Hey, Sacramento, do the right thing. Get my man in that front office now. Come on. We talked about it. Let's do it. All right. Let's go, Sacramento. Utah, one of your favorite places on the planet. That shit. They shut down Nurkic and Triple J having season-ending surgery. I think they're doing a really good job because I think they have some really good pieces. I think they're doing a really good job of tanking. They're 18 and 40 right now, and they know that kid that's going to BYU, if they're able to land him. And the NBA has had a funny way of landing Braun in Cleveland, Kyrie in Cleveland, and Derrick Rose in Chicago. They've had a funny way of blessing teams at times. But I love the direction of this new ownership. They got a lot of good young talent in pieces. This is going to be a very loaded draft. I think the Utah Jazz are on their way up. Don't let this record this year fool you. I think this was an intentional, intentional for this record to be this way, to stock up in this draft and then be able to come out swinging because they have a lot of nice pieces. So I'm interested to see the direction of this Utah Jazz team in the next three to five years. Yeah, I like that. I like Utah. So I like marketing. I like I know they doing they just tank the most of the season but I get it it though Because AJ he right there He right there across the street from this motherfucker So you know what I mean So it makes a lot of sense. And I get it. Like you said, LeBron and Cleveland, how unfortunate that was. So, no, it's going to happen. That's what's going to happen. He's going to end up in Utah. I heard some good things about that. I actually went out to Utah. I had a good time. We went out there and visited our friends that do the YouTube guru team out there. Shout them out. But we went out there and actually had a really good time. So I'm going to be going back to Utah. Well, what you did out there, motherfucker? Man, that's what you did. We went. What was it? They're called side-by-sides. We were fucking the streets up, too. Jelani was driving like a 13-year-old girl at first. So his nuts dropped, and he started driving how he should. He only got a little bit of driving. But I was out there wrecking shop. Oh, you was? It was dope. we had a good time we went on a crash course out there of just youtube you know just making our company better we got a little play time oh yeah as well but no i say all that to say is what they told us about you know aj picking byu was just more of the business of the game you know he went to high school out there senior year and him and him and his pops are really heavy on the business of basketball there was more than just money being given to him um opportunity business opportunities investment opportunities ownership opportunities of certain things so i really like kind of what and I want to, you know, acknowledge everything they told us. But it's bigger than basketball out there, what he's getting. And it sounds dope. So I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of businessman he is. What else we got, Nate? I have a question off of this because there's a lot of conversation about the Jazz tanking and they were fined half a million dollars for this. Why are they getting criticized so much when teams like the Spurs and a bunch of other teams historically have done the same thing? No, that's the same. Yeah, well, I just think taking is such a big deal. And I want to say Richard Jefferson came up with a great idea. And again, kind of paraphrasing because I didn't get to see the whole thing. But he said something like once you're eliminated from the playoffs, there should be a point system where winning obviously counts more than losing does. So I think there has to be some kind of incentive. And then people are saying, well, why would players on that team, if they're going to be losing, want to still go out? Because you're fucking in the NBA. That's why you're going to want to go out there and want to play hard. But there needs to be something said for tank. And I think teams that intentionally tank, there needs to not because fines don't do nothing. These half a million dollar fines. These are these are billionaires. There has to be some kind of incentives for draft stock that, you know, once you're eliminated, there's there should be a point system. And the more games you win, the better chance you have of getting a top pick. And that'll I think that'll keep these these dweller teams competitive for longer. And if you're dog shit, you're dog shit. And you're going to keep being dog shit. You know, you'll be at the back of the lottery. But I think these teams that are tanking, that have talent, there needs to be some kind of for all these teams that are eliminated from the playoffs, there needs to be some kind of point system that the more you win on the back half of the season, the better chance you have in the lottery. I just don't understand, man. I mean, I just – I couldn't, man. I couldn't play. I mean, I just – I love the game so much. I love to play the game so much. And I know it took me so much to get there. And for me to disrespect the game, man, I mean, I want to play. It'll be hard for a coach to tell me, my brother, we're going to sit you out. I ain't hurt. No, man, I'm going to say so. This shit's just weird now, man. I just don't – I get it. But, I mean, it's a new age. I guess that's why I played in the air when I played. But I just – this shit is crazy. We're sitting up here talking about this shit. We're about to talk about some more shit. Yeah, this shit is crazy. We're sitting up here talking about motherfuckers taking the season and how you do that shit. It's weird. Not wanting to play, getting into – it used to be a badge of honor. Come on, man. It used to be a badge of honor. Yeah, man. So the MVP race. So we got – The list we said was SGA. Yep. Jokic. Yep. Wemby. Yep. Cade. Yep. And Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown. Those are the top five we picked. And we have guys that they can only miss a few more games to actually qualify for the 65-game minimum you need to be able to, you know, win any of these season awards. So Cade is obviously in there, 25, 10, and 6. Yeah. You said he can only miss 17. I don't think he's going to miss that many games. SGA could only miss a couple more games. He's out with an injury. Jokic has missed 16 games, so he only has a handful of games left. Huh? One. Jokic's only missed one. Jokic's supposed to be off the board. You could only miss 17 games. You've got to hit the 65-game marker. So, yeah, Jokic doesn't play pretty much every game after All-Star. He's out of the running. SGA is only going to be able to miss a handful of games. He's currently hurt, too. Yeah, he's heard. So he's going to be reevaluated. Wimby has missed 13 games, so he can only miss four more games. And you would hate to see, and this is no disrespect, but someone to get the MVP by default. You know, I don't think that's what their plan was when they tried to come up with these regulations to make guys play again, which is crazy. But what are your thoughts on, you know, obviously, we have the top five candidates right now, but, you know, there's half of them are borderline going to be disqualified for not playing the minimum amount of games. This is also first-team All-NBA, too. Yeah. Like, that's to be considered as well. It is. They could be taken out of first-team All-NBA. Yeah. So all the accolades. There's contracts. There's livelihood, manhood, familyhood. A lot of things are at stake here. Yeah, motherfuckers can't play 65 games. It's shit crazy. It's crazy. I'm just mad. I'm just saying. can't play 65 games, man. Come on, man. Oh, my goodness, man. This is crazy, man. Once again, I'm saying, while we're even sitting up here talking about this shit, this motherfucker can't play 65 games, man. This is crazy, my brother. 65 games, goddamn. You gotta love it. I mean, they're getting all the money, goddamn. You gotta love it. You're getting all the money. I think money obviously trumps everything now. Money trumps it all. 65 games, man. I mean, I don't know. You would think getting all this money, you would get more. Right. Not necessarily production because they're producing when they're out there. You get to see them every night. Yeah, you know. Again, not to sound like the old motherfuckers, but we are the old motherfuckers. Yeah. Like we got to see guys every night. Right. Yes. Watching the game growing up. We saw our favorite players every night and then playing in the game. Yes. In the league for as long as I played. The best players always play. Yeah. Period. Yeah. I'm playing period. That's it. So it's a different, different, different. So with that said, we've got about, what, 20 games left, 22 games left. Who's your MVP up to this point? Let's just say all these guys. So Cade, Jalen Brown, SGA, Wimby, and Jokic. Let's say they all qualify. Out of those five, who do you have? SGA. That's my guy right there. How many games up in the Western Conference are they? They're only three up from the Spurs. Okay. And the Spurs have beaten them every game this season. Yep. Yep. Absolutely. Oh, yeah. It's hard to argue with SGA, but I love what Cade's been able to do. Oh, yeah. I love what Wimby's been able to do. I love what Jalen Brown has done this season. Oh, absolutely. To be able to, you got to think, the team that lost four core guys and the guy that is the best player. Right. They say the best player on the team, and he has them in the second or third in the Eastern Conference. Second? Second. And he got a taste of the racist Beverly Hills PD out here where they canceled his event and then came back the next day and apologized about the lie they had. I mean, the Beverly Hills PD is some of the most racist cops in the game. As soon as I saw this article. Wow. You know, Jalen Brown, the way he moves, he's not even a party type dude. He had a panel of intelligent, moving forward, diversity, diversity, black and brown, unity, gay, business, education. That's what the kind of time they were on. And they came and lied about a permit. And as soon as I saw it, I said, racist, Beverly Hills PD and you can't everything's not race. and then the very next day they came out and said the bullshit they apologized for the bullshit it was a racially motivated right shut down and it's just it's an embarrassment for the city it's a embarrassment for beverly hills pd so anyway it's gonna be interesting to see 20 games 22 games uh the final race is gonna be dope if everyone qualifies and then just seating is gonna be interesting anyway max good to see you always you got to get back out to this california sunshine and bring your golf clubs next time i'm gonna do it a couple of weeks okay sounds good man well good to see you cam what up and we'll talk to you soon all right thanks for having me hi it's joe interesting host of the spirit daughter podcast where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life.
