Summary

Kentucky Sports Radio hosts Matt Jones and Shannon discuss a major recruiting day for UK basketball with top-ranked prospects Tyron Stokes and Rob Wright visiting campus simultaneously. The episode also covers significant football recruiting news with the commitment of the nation's #2 ranked quarterback Drew Barker, and celebrates fan engagement through viral banner campaigns supporting the recruits.

Insights
  • Simultaneous visits by the two highest-caliber available players (Stokes and Wright) signal a strategic recruiting approach designed to establish them as core pieces of the roster, leveraging peer recruitment dynamics
  • Fan-generated content (banner campaigns) has become a legitimate recruiting tool, with coaches actively engaging with and amplifying grassroots fan efforts to influence recruit decisions
  • High school quarterback recruitment at elite levels is now competitive again after years of relying on portal transfers, suggesting coaching staff reputation (Will Stein's track record) can overcome recent on-field performance
  • Recruiting success is now binary for fan sentiment—landing both targets creates sustained momentum and positive narrative, while missing either creates significant backlash and narrative failure
  • NIL deals for local players can offset institutional budget constraints, allowing programs to retain homegrown talent without depleting recruiting capital for portal acquisitions

This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome everyone it is Kentucky Sports Radio Monday, April the 14th and I'm Matt Jones and this is gonna be one of the biggest days for UK basketball recruiting. Well in a long time Clark's Publix shop phone line 859-280-2287. Avis Genado glass text machine 772-7745-254 and this edition sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office called TJ on Make and Pay. I was sitting here thinking Ryan, so I've been doing this 20 years. I was thinking about it. What were the big recruiting days? Okay. All right. The days where the Kentucky Universe was in recruit watch mode and then I went even further to say what were the days that it was the refresh every hour 10 minute mode? All right. So let's go through them in the KSR air. Okay. Patterson and Lucas a day leaked that they were both going to choose. Patterson ended up postponing it. Lucas went early. Lucas went that day, but that day and he would pick Florida. But that day the site crashed 600 times on KSR. Okay. So that's day one for me. Yeah. That was so early in the internet world. We all knew and our server couldn't host it. Yeah. Like we couldn't hold as to we had started in 05 and in 07 we didn't have the technological capability. Everybody was going to it. Then I think the day the door day with Cal as we watched the door to see if he was going to leave from Memphis. I think that may be the most legendary day in UK internet history. Don't you think where everyone watched a random door in Memphis to see if Cal would walk out of it? I just hear you talk about it now makes me kind of embarrassed how we were acting at that time. Local TV crew. And by the way, Shannon, nice to have you back. Yeah. Get to be back. Shannon, you remember that a local TV crew just set a camera outside of a door and we all watched it. What? And then he flew here and there were cameras at the airport. And so that was that's the wild day. Also before that, the Billy Clyde getting fired. No doubt. Alan Cutler chasing him around. So that's actually day two, day three would be then I think day four is a few days after the Cal day when it started become, okay, well, wall come, well, cousins come, well, Xavier, Henry come. That was a name from the past, right? So then I would think the next one was probably Nerlin's Noel and Shaba Shaba's Muhammad decided on the same day. Yup, they sure did on the set of like sports center. Number one and two both decided on the same day. Kentucky was a finalist for both. Right. And Nerlin shaved the UK logo in the back of his head. Turn it spun around so you can see the UK logo in the back of his hair. So then I think the next one is the day whether the twins decided to come back. No doubt. That's definitely got that's pretty high. I think that one might be second to Cal as the day all will the twins come back because it can they waited until the last day. Yep. And remember, we got the guy, Shannon at our heart to make his with the national voice guy to make the read. That's right. What was it? First they first they split a zygote. Now they're splitting defenders. The twins are back. You had Turkey Hunter had a turkey hunter and I spent the afternoon writing them. And then this guy just read whatever we sent. He voiced it. That was that was a great one. And then, but then I was trying to think about after that, Hamadou Diallo deciding whether to return went into the night and it didn't come out until like 1230 at night. Because he really did like after the midnight deadline. He did. You didn't find out about it until after the deadline. But I don't know if there's been one since then like that. That was like a six or seven year period where just because of the way the internet was, it just was like it overwhelmed in a positive manner. But I don't think since COVID, I guess the closest thing we've had was the day Calipari was walking around with a dog in a stroller. It is. It's COVID. It's probably the biggest. Is that the biggest fan internet day since COVID is Cal walking around with a dog and a stroller? Shannon, I think it is. Yeah. Yeah. Is he going to leave? Is he not in the Mitch Barnhardt and Mark Hill or whatever they like, take the SUVs into his house and then he comes out in a stroller and waves at the camera. What a bizarre moment. I still remember getting the text while I was eating at Skyline that basically said he'd like to come back, but he's not. It's not happening. And I think that's the only one post COVID. Right? I don't know what I can think of right now where we were so Todd glued to the internet and refresh, refresh, refresh. Well, I think today is one of those days. Yeah. I mean, from what I understand, Stokes arrived late last night, Rob Wright arrived this morning and now Wright and Stokes are on campus. And for people who weren't on the internet this weekend, Tyron Stokes, number one player in America, announces he's visiting. I think that happened Saturday morning and that feels like a long time ago because that was Saturday morning. Yes. I think it was Saturday morning. So the number one player in America is going to be on campus today. Then we find out that Rob Wright, who's probably, who's a top five portal guy, probably the number two point garden, the portal he's coming today as well. So I think it's fair to say that of the people we know, Kentucky is associated with that are available to play college basketball next year. These are the two best players Kentucky is talking to. It's amazing. You get these top two guys, two eligible players, and they're on the campus at the same time, at the same time on the same visit. So both guys here at the same time. I mean, that sends a clear signal that Kentucky's could be a power player. So it is, I mean, this is the day. Yep. You know, this is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Take him to Keeneland. Keeneland's closed on Monday, right? We stopped taking Keeneland. It hasn't worked. Keeneland thing has been a curse. We need Keeneland to be closed on Monday. No offense to Keeneland. Maybe that's why they brought him in. I don't know what it is. I think they, that had been pretty successful, but in the pope era, maybe they look at, made the horses look at them the wrong way. I don't, the Keeneland thing hasn't seemed to work. So these guys are here and I mean, for people who don't find me, this is the number one high school player in America. This is the best high school player that would have come to this school since Carl Towns. Yeah. Yeah. It's no doubt. I think this is the best high school player that would have come to Kentucky. So I mean, Fox and Monk were very highly rated, but not as highly rated as this kid. Um, and Scow was rated high, but not as rated high as, but even, even then people didn't think he was as good as they think this kid is. Right. This would be the best high school player to come here since Carl Towns. And if you go through the Cal era, the only players that were probably consensus considered to be best pros would have been wall cousins, Nerlins, Carl, or yeah, I'm sorry, Anthony Davis, wall cousins, Anthony Davis, Nerlins, Carl, and Stokes would probably be somewhere around Carl and what people think of him as a high school player. So just think about what I just said. That's a pretty big guy to get here. Then in terms of college transfer portal guys, I think it's safe to say this is the top player out of the portal that has ever been recruited to Kentucky. Oscar Sheeway was highly recruited, but I don't think he was ranked as high as this kid is. And Pope hasn't gotten a guy ranked as high. Jackson Robinson is probably his best commitment out of the portal, but he wouldn't be ranked as high as Rob Wright. So this is the biggest day of the Pope recruiting era. And you could make an argument, Ryan. It's the biggest day of the Pope era going forward. I think it is the fact that you can get Tyrant Stokes to come to an on-campus visit this late in his recruitment after people were kind of saying he's leaning back towards Kansas again to get him to come on campus and make a visit and to get Rob Wright to make his first visit is to Kentucky. I think both of those are huge statements as far as what Pope's trying to do now. Now we saw the best Shannon of Kentucky fandom yesterday. Oh yeah. Because the news starts to spread. Rob Wright's coming. Stokes is coming. And our fan base goes. They lose their lose their mind in the best way. Yes. Right. This is, this is why I'm not listening to you haters on the internet, including some in our own fan base who seem to get off on just telling us that our fans stink. This is why you stink because days like yesterday are why Kentucky fans are great. Yeah. I know other people make banners, but how many people make banners within minutes of the kids announcing they're coming? Right. Yeah. And put it on their house and Adam as the day goes along. That's what was funny. Adam as the day goes along and then coaches drive by and FaceTime players and say, come visit and we'll add you to the house. Yeah. Right. That house now is going to be going to the billboard for a visit. I believe it's a frat house. I don't know if it's Sigma. I don't know. We're going to have that kid on in a little while. Banner boys. The banner boys. But they're calling themselves. I think, I think I gave them the name banner boys. Well, whoever gave it, I like the name. But whatever they gave them, I think whoever gave it to them, they're going with it. All right. I don't feel like we've had this much excitement. I agree. Which is fan base needed. Yeah. Right. Like they needed this. This fan base needed that excitement. And now these kids are here. People are putting it on their random houses. Did you see that guy's house at the arboretum? The arboretum. He put a banner up there too. So it's catching. It's catching. I saw the Walmart and Nicholasville now has the banners. You're going to hang one outside your new house? I don't know how to make them. But if I did, if I did, I would. I like the idea of other banners. People said we should do it at KS bar. We're closed today or we would. Yeah. We can do it maybe this week. Yes. I'll make Mario stand on the street with a side. Right. But it is exciting. And now, like you said, our fan base needed this. They did. Now Shannon, there's a lot of pressure. Oh yeah. Yeah. Because for Mark Pope, you know, he has, I think intentionally kind of not kept the fans in the loop as to what's going on by not talking to the media privately or having, you know what I mean? So the media doesn't really know UK's plans. Is that good? It might be. If, well, I don't think it is long term, but this year it might be fine if they get all these guys. Like in the end, it doesn't matter if they get all the guys, right? But expectations are now all in on these two guys. And I think this fan base, this is a, this is a feast or famine moment. If he gets two of these guys, this fan base is going to lose their mind. And it honestly doesn't matter who he gets in the rest of the class. People are going to be excited all off. So yes, would you agree? Get those two guys? I think people will be very excited. If he gets one of them, there'll be some excitement and then it'll depend on what else he does. Right. But if he gets neither, if it's considered a whiff. Oh yeah. Oh, the negativity that we have going into the off season. This is the thing. When you bank everything on a day and you get everybody excited and you have banners and you have coaches pull it over and street. Like it's got like, like this is, you know, now you have to deliver. Yes. If you deliver, you have been washed in the blood of the BB in lamb. Like no one's going to worry about it. Right. But if you don't, then, you know, there's going to be people very frustrated, but I'm going to be positive and assume there's a lot of good signs. Right. Stokes is coming here. Exactly. Stokes is coming here. He paid his own way to come from Portland, Oregon. Right. This late in the process. Because he already taken an official visit, so we couldn't give him another one. So he had to come. Yeah. Rob Wright is coming. We flew to him, see him Saturday and he agreed to come Monday morning. I think this is his first visit anywhere. So this is, you know, huge, huge day. So this is a refresh day. If we had not, if we would pay for the text alerts, you know, that costs money now to do. Remember we used to send text alerts. Yeah. And now all of a sudden it cost a bajillion dollars. I almost wish I could put them into effect for one day. Imagine if you got a text message that said, because you remember the old text messages they had Ryan yelling and it would scare people. It was a bam, bam, firepower. Bam, bam, firepower. What were we thinking? I don't know. I'd love to do it again. I just don't know how to do it for an economically responsible amount of money, but it's a big day and it'll be exciting and we'll, I don't think anything will happen. I don't know that they'll commit tonight, but here's what I know. UK wants to, when they leave UK wants to know in their mind whether or not they think they're getting them. Yeah. Because the rest of their class depends on what these two guys do. They have a budget. These guys are going to get a lot of the budget. So if they don't get them, they have a lot more money to get other people. But if they do, they have less. They have a whole set of visits potentially scheduled for the rest of the week, but it's all contingent on these guys. So I don't know if we'll get a commitment tonight for me. They're one of them, but I think UK doesn't want them leaving without UK feeling like they're going to know what these kids are doing. Right. It's like, you know, a car salesman, you get the person on the lot. You don't want them to leave the lot without buying a car. I don't know that they'll, I don't know if they'll buy the car, but they need to know. I think in UK's mind, are you buying this car, even if we wait and let you do it on your own time? So we'll see. Do you like the fact that they got both on the campus at the same time? They must think that's a good idea. And they know the kids better than I do. So I can't say like, I, on the one hand, you would go, well, these kids, I didn't even know each other, but you know what, Mark Pope, and they're not stupid. They know how big a deal this is. They know what they clearly wanted to do it on purpose. Yeah. So I'm going to assume they know what they're doing. So eight, five, nine, two, eight, oh, 20, two, 87. We're going to take a break. We'll take your calls. Text machine is 772-774-5254. Uh, it's KSR. Bam, bam, firepower. You know, the text machine is full of like sightings. Already this morning. Oh yeah. I've been getting sightings all morning already. I don't know what to believe Shannon. So I have to take everything with a grain of salt. I need pictures. If you got a sighting, I agree with you. Pictures would help. Yeah. And I need them to be blurry because recruiting pictures are always blurred. The cleaner the picture, the more I think now it's a, but a good fuzzy picture at Carson's, I believe those like a picture of Bigfoot. Yes. That's exactly right. Every recruiting picture needs to be fuzzy. Uh-huh. One person writes, Matt, uh, I think you might be wrong about them having, about Stokes having flown last night. My parents say they were on a flight with him this morning and he was very nice. Very nice. Good to hear. No, but that doesn't mean that that's true. Yeah. Could have been anybody. Okay. Yeah. I mean, it was actually Eli Capiludo. Somehow they confused the two of them. Well, I mean, do you know what he looks like? Stokes? Yeah. No, no, I'm not a hundred. Like I've seen him. Would I recognize him on a plane? I think I would know it wasn't Eli Capiludo. Right. But if he walked in right now, but there was a guy on a plane to Lexington this morning and me knowing Stokes was coming, I think I would know it's him. Yes. But if I saw him at that Zach Bryan concert, would I know it's him? No. I mean, the Louisville recruits that committed yesterday, Badunga and whatever the other guys name, they were in a bar that Max and Miles and I went to Saturday. All they were. And I didn't know what they looked like, but I was like, that dude's six 10 Shannon. He's got to be somebody. I mean, there's got to, you don't see a lot of my Marbs town road. So I, I assume that's probably who that would be nice. You can talk and get these two guys in one day because Louisville just got their two guys in one day. Yes. That's true. All right. So let's talk about the UK roster made decisions. Okay. So since the last time we were on the air, yellow bitch announced he was transferring right and also committed Ohio State. So that all happened since we were on the air. Yes. Thoughts. I kind of think it felt like he underachieved last year. I kind of had the door open. Don't the door hit you with a good Lord split you. Go. That's a little harsh, isn't it? Wow. Yeah. I mean, what, that's, it was good here. Why? Fussy wrote a really nice note. He did write a really nice note. Why are you being quiet? Why is he being mean? Shannon? That's, I think that take, you don't mean that. Take that back. I definitely take it back. I've tried to be funny. Yeah. Don't what is the lesson we have learned from this show? You do not try to be fun. Don't try. Naturally funny. Right. Yes. Exactly. So stop trying. Go ahead. Now take that back. I did take it back. Okay. I thought his note was really nice. It was very nice. I liked that he said, I know some of you all have mixed feelings about me, but I do not have mixed feelings about you. And he even said Big Blue Nation is going to be great again. I thought that was a great, I actually can't think of a player who's written. Like, you know, I mean, people will write the, I love you, Big Blue Nation. And that's nice. But I actually thought he wrote it to where it was clear. Like he wrote it. Yeah. A lot of it feels chat GPT-ish. Yes. But his didn't. No, no, no. It felt very sincere too. Yeah. I think he meant it. Just all the more reason you should be nice to him. Brandon Garrison committed to Alabama. I kind of was surprised when I saw that. Well, considering I know what he asked Kentucky for, you would assume Alabama paid more than that. I'm very surprised. Yeah. Maybe, you know, you heard, you heard Oates say after the season, I got to get more big dudes who can rebound and be physical. He did say that. Do you think that Garrison's that guy for him? Clearly he does, or I don't think he goes and gets it. Yeah. He believes he can be that physical guy inside, but we saw it for two years. He's not that guy. It's old. He can be that guy in spirts. Yeah. But I don't know that he's got guy consistently, but I was surprised because he asked Kentucky for a substantial raise. And Kentucky said no. And presumably Shannon, you got to think Arkansas said yes. Right. Right. He doesn't give you a whole lot offensively except for the game in the SEC tournament where he went off, but he does give you that physicality that you need in the SEC. He's getting a technical when he comes in here next year. Because we host them next year. We do host them next year. He's going to get a technical. No doubt. That's when they're there. That's when he's at his best when he gets a technical. Jasper Johnson being rumored to go to Arkansas. Yeah. What if Cal goes and gets Jasper away? That just adds to the get Derek Johnson's Facebook feed. Get ready for that. That's such a cow move to come in here and get Jasper grew up in Lexington, I mean, UK. I wish him the best. And honestly, Cal might be the best coach for a guy like that. But Cal was interested in him before. Right. I offered him. He did. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that might work for him. I just think it's you have a hard time. You know, Arkansas doesn't have any players yet and you don't hear about their name with a lot of teams in the portal. So I don't know what their what their situation is. They do have a couple really good recruits. No is coming back. Yes, all that excited about that. I'm excited. I mean, I really thought Trent Maylene and go somewhere else try to get some more minutes and play. But obviously he's a Kentucky kid. He wants to put on that Kentucky Jersey. So he's a great guy to have on your team for this reason. One, I mean, hopefully he still can be good, but these local businesses are paying his in aisle. Oh, there's no doubt. Well, like what in aisle is supposed to be? Yeah. Noah is gets it like Noah should the NCA should put him on the brochure of what in aisle because he my guess is his NIL is being paid. He might not even take any of the rev share. His money might all be from these local businesses because they all want to invest in the hometown kid. He's got a couple big ones that he's already signed up for you. He signed immediately that I think extended throughout his time here. So Shannon, you might get a kid that on the open markets, you'd have to pay 400,000, 500,000 and you don't have to pay anything. You're making the money on an aisle because he'll be making it on the in aisle deal. I felt like just that spring ankle kind of threw him off track and he never kind of guy was the same guy after that this fast season. So I'm glad to have him. I still hope there's some con there's contribution in there. Yeah, for sure. And it's and he wants to be here. So all right, that's good. We'll take a break. Take your calls or after this. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287. Text machine is 772-774-5254. We also know of a couple of other visits this week. Ronnie Freeman from Syracuse is visiting tomorrow. Donnie, Donnie. Donnie. Well, he's got a brother named Ronnie works at the auto shop. At the auto shop. Yeah, Donnie and Ronnie. Yeah, the Freeman boys. So they're coming together. So you, Ronnie's coming with Donnie. She got you. Okay. Then Colgate transferred Jalen Cox is coming to Kentucky on Wednesday. I've actually oddly seen him play too. I watched a Colgate game. Yeah. He was very talented. The average is like 18 points a game at Colgate. Any news out of the zoom? The Aloe visit was just here this past weekend. Not yet, but I've heard Kentucky still interested in him, but I get the sense they have money for two out of those three guys of right Stokes, Diallo. I mean, maybe if they get two of them, then some donors are like, well, heck, let's make it three. But I think it'll be a kind of two of three situation there. Text machine, wake up. Text machine people. This is a big day. This is not, this is a day the text machine should be exploding with comments, information and more importantly, random pictures from Carson's. Yes. Okay. That's where they got the picture at zoom was this weekend. Was it a picture at Carson's was zoom? Yeah. Right. That's good. That's good. That's what we like spies. All right. I don't want to, I mean, this is a basketball day, but we have to talk about something that happened with football because maybe the biggest, well, not maybe this is the highest ranked quarterback to commit to Kentucky since who I heard John Hale on this morning. I think with Tom Leeds said they thought Drew Barker was also a four star. It's not just a four star. He is ranked in 24 seven sports or excuse me in rivals as the number two quarterback in America. So you got to go back Jake. Now, do I say not? That's what they were saying on the leach report. I think it's not right. Yeah, no, it's right. That's what they were saying on the leach. No, right. Number two quarterback in America picks Kentucky over Oregon. He's one of the elite 11 quarterbacks, right? They pick 11 of them. I think Drew Barker was that as well. Yeah. Um, and he, he committed to Kentucky after visiting Will's time. That's huge. I mean, that, that is not again, high school commitments in 2026. You never know. There's the portal. There's, there's all kinds of things that can happen, but I will say this. You tell me, I get the number two quarterback in America to commit at a school that we were four and eight the last two years. I'm going to say heck yeah, this is huge. This just tells you what people think about Will Stein as a coach, what he did at Oregon with his quarterbacks, what Joe Sloan did with Caden, Caden Daniels, Jaden Daniels. Keep going. Yeah, you'll get it one of the times. Those two guys, what they've done with their quarterbacks out that's obviously people taking notice of that. So this may be, if this guy can come in and have success, that may be a pipeline that continues to happen. Yeah. But just this kid. Big. I mean, this is the best quarterback we've had commit here since, is it couch? This couch was the only one to be ranked as top two in the country. I mean, it's got to be couch, right? I don't think we've had a dude. We, we, we've never had the number two quarterback couch was number one. That was Parker was top five to seven. The kid that committed and the Ponitowski kid was in the top something. Um, you know what Morgan Newton was high, but I was actually, no, he was. And remember the other kid that also committed the same year as Morgan Newton? What was his name? Masa, Kowski or whatever. Masa, Masa, but you know, but we haven't had number two. That's, that's a 30 year span from Tim Koush to now to get a guy ranked this high, a quarterback outside of the state of Kentucky to commit to Kentucky. Well, okay. Is he the highest ranked quarterback outside the state of Kentucky ever? I think we said all this about positive pile of pot of Towsky, but this kid's ranked higher than him. Yeah, it's got to be then who all the top quarterbacks ranked corbets are all from Kentucky. Well, Morgan Newton, you said he was from Indiana. Yeah. So was Morgan Newton the highest? He was the second in the country. No. Morgan Newton, Shannon skipped the Kentucky Tennessee game to take the L sand. Still my favorite Kentucky football story committed to his education. I understand. But he didn't even become a lawyer. Did he? I think he works. Yeah. In Lexington is a, but he's not a lawyer. We call him a clerk or whatever. A law clerk? Something he's, he's in, he works for a law firm. I think. Okay. So he is in law. Yeah. All right. Well, then I guess it did make sense because he wasn't going to be in the NFL. So, well, anyway, great commitment. You know, Houston is feeding the studs. You got your stud right there. That's a stud. And they got a defensive tackle who picked Kentucky over Auburn and Alabama. I'd say that kid must be a stud too. If he was a from Alabama, from Alabama, says, I want to go to Auburn, Alabama. I want to go to Kentucky. Okay, man. Another stud. That's, that'd be like a kid from, you know, Harlan going, I'm not going to Kentucky or Louisville. I'm going to Auburn. Yeah. Seems a little odd, but command them for doing it. Yeah. Hey, so great stuff for Willstein. Huge stuff. Let's get started. Derek, go ahead, Derek. Hey, man. I'm glad you brought up the quarterback thing. I was going to mention that. Let me preface by saying, of course, I'm happy to have him and better to have him committed to not, but it feels like, you know, for the better part of a decade or so, we never really see these high school recruits end up starting the season at quarterback. So if I just find it kind of hard to get as excited for high school, I mean, what, but why do you, why would you say that in some ways? Like I don't mean say that to be rude to you. I'm sure you're a wonderful dude, but why would you say that? Like if you don't want to get excited about the number two quarterback in America coming, then just don't. But why not at least you did say it's better to have it than not. But if you don't want to get excited, why would you just call and say, I'm not excited? I don't really, I don't understand that mindset. Sorry, I wouldn't come across that way. I am very excited. I just hope it ends up materializing with him. Well, I do too, but I do too, but they'll never be a day that it feels like it will materialize more than the day he picks the school. So can we have a day to be happy about it? And how do you think that plays with the Ponitowski? I don't care. I don't care. I mean, if Ponitowski, my assumption is it'll work itself out. One of those kids will end up being, if Ponitowski ends up really good, then maybe that kid decides not to come. Nalrod. If not, if Nalrod ends up coming is really good. Maybe Ponitowski leaves. But what I like is that we have a lot of options. It was only two or three years ago that like we were down to playing guys who couldn't make forward passes in the games and we had no chance against anybody. So I love the amount of options they have. Yeah, me too. I love the idea of bringing somebody up because, you know, going back, we saw your Smith and all these just transfers for quite a while now. I think it'd be awesome to have somebody come up in the system and let Stein kind of do his thing. Yeah. Well, I appreciate the call. And that is a good point about, you know, we've had to take transfers so many years. This is a guy who will be in the system the whole time. If you're a few K football fan, you should be jumping up and down and having a parade in the street. You got the second ranked quarterback in the Kentucky Committee or school. I'm not trying to jump on that guy. But like if we can't be happy about a commitment of the highest ranked quarterback of all time without already talking Shannon about what if he leaves? He just got here. Exactly. If you can't be happy about that, you can't be happy about anything. I don't understand. Of course, he could leave. But right now, anybody can leave. But everyone could leave. Yeah, we all could leave. That's right. We might not be here tomorrow. Shannon is leaving. I just left for a week. Exactly. Drew, by the way, not yet have a baby that we know. Text him this morning, nothing yet. We're on baby watch. Also, think about how exciting it could be. You could get Stokes, Wright and baby all on the same day. That's how I'll remember that kid's birthday. That's true for the rest of his life. April 13. Did you say it was going to be Rory? Well, we said it was going to be whoever won the Masters. Yeah. Well, then there you go. It's Rory. And so we predicted on the show. I predicted Sam Burns, who had a good tournament, had a shot. And Ryan lemon predicted Rory McElroy and we mocked him. And now they win. Of course, of course, the golf's nowhere. I know ball. Elijah, go ahead. Elijah. Elijah. All right, Terry, go ahead, Terry. Hey, good morning, guys. Just wanted to say that I am extremely excited about what's going on today around the basketball and football. And I just believe the reason for having Wright and Stokes together is it showed them that this is who you're going to be with. And this is going to be a big part of your team. So for me, I'm extremely excited, feel optimistic, but I believe you don't get one without the other. And I believe we're going to land both of them today and start and start putting us back on the map. Hope you're right. Appreciate the call. Yeah. I mean, maybe Pope gets in the room and he says, all right, Stokes, Wright, Malachi, Cam, whatever we end up with, you four are the core. And that's true. They will be four of the top six guys on the team. They absolutely will look there and say you will be four of the six. Yes. Let's roll. That's pretty good recruiting tool. It makes sense to me. We'll see if we put him on there. Okay. Yeah, let's do it. We'll take a break. We're right back. It's KSI. Welcome back. Techy Sports Radio. Text Machine. I got a couple of messages asking if I'm angry or grumpy. I'm not. I'm actually the opposite. I'm happy and I don't want people to, uh, to, to, you know, dampen my vibe. Well, just a little disappointing. Is that the phrase that, what's the phrase I want to use more? I don't want to, but not kill my, but like peeing your Cheerios. Okay, shut up. You are the last person that would know what the friend, and again, we are instituting a rule starting this week. You do not get to say the name of bodily function. Gotcha. All right. Gotcha. I got sent a clip of the week I was gone. What was it? You do not get to talk about bodily functions. All right. So, I don't want to hear that word or the corresponding P word or really Shannon any P word. Yeah. Cause there's a lot of them. He could say there was a lot one day. So all right. Got it. That's a rule. Now what's the phrase I was looking for? All right. Chill my vibe. Cramp my style. Whatever. Whatever the phrase is. I just don't, if you, you know, kill your vibe. I mean, if Tyron Stokes commits tomorrow, someone could call or tonight, someone could call tomorrow and go, well, we don't need to commit Wednesday. Yeah. I mean, that's true. But can we celebrate for a minute? So we should be doing what today with the football kid. All right. Um, did you see, did you see Drake, how he made the Toronto Raptors, what they made him do to his seat? I heard you and Mario talking about it. I didn't know this. It's, it's, it's a little extra. It's like, it's got icicles hanging on them. Why? Well, because I mean, I think he makes him look cool. But here's what I thought about it. Shannon. Yeah. So I was talking to designers for, for my house. And one of them told me that they had designed a very prominent celebrity suite at the Titans games. Okay. And I was like, you know, you talk about something rich people do. They first of all, have suites at the Titans game and have it professionally, professionally furnished and designed. So that night I was going to my first Reds game in my seats and I thought Shannon, wonder what the Reds have done for my seat. Have they, have they done something for my seats? Same rips that were in there last year. Oh my, not repaired. Couldn't he put duct tape on it? Same stains on the chairs. That's your fault. Now I'm, we mean it's my fault. The stains, your chair, who else would have stained them? That's not the point. The point is, I'm just saying like they're faded. Do you know what I mean? They're faded. I'm just saying Reds, is it too much to ask for people who have held season tickets for eight years to not have rips in the seats? You want to take, I'm not asking for design or iced out Drake. You want to take care of your season ticket people. They shouldn't bother you. I mean, it's a lot of money. Yeah. A lot of money and they stink. Yeah, they're not good. They're not good. They're not, they're the worst nine and 17 that's ever existed. This month's the easiest schedule. I know. All right. So we saw the banners. Yes. Theo is on the phone. Theo is, do you live in the house with the banners? Yes. Yes. Okay. And do you, all right. So you are, how many people live in that house? We got 10 guys and we got my buddy Gabe next to me right now, the leaders of the banner boys. Theo and Gabe, are you, would you call you two the leaders? Oh yeah. I'd say we had the idea of it. Okay. So you guys had the idea. So when you hear Stokes is coming, what do you go do? Where did you go get that big banner? So yeah, we were just sitting around Saturday morning hanging out in the living room and we're scrolling on Twitter as we usually do. And I see that Stokes is visiting on Monday. So I kind of just jokingly say to Gabe, I'm like, we should like make a banner or something. Kind of just kind of laugh it off. And then Sunday morning, we, Sunday came and we're like, yeah, let's, let's go do it. So we drove to Home Depot, got some spray paint and then we drove around looking for bed sheets and then one of my buddies brought it over. So that's, is that a used bed sheet? Is that, is that your buddy's used bed sheet? No, no, no, no. Okay. No, no, no. He wouldn't bought it. Cause I'll pay for y'all to get clean bed sheets up there. We need, we need no stains. All right. So then you put those up, they start to get attention. And then last night the coaches came by. Tell everybody about that. Oh yeah, we were just sitting outside and I see a white truck stop in front of the car or in front of the house. And I was like, that looks like Coach McClain. They pulled up a little bit and we saw the doors open. Yeah, it was Coach McClain and Coach Mo. They walked out. I like how he calls him Coach Mo. Like he's already his buddy now coach Mo, Coach Mo Williams. He hangs with Gabe and Theo. All right, go ahead though. But he said Coach Mo was taking a video and uh, Coach McClain, he was like, Donny's mad. Y'all don't have one up for him. And he turned his phone around and he was on, so he was FaceTiming Donny Freeman, the recruit from Syracuse. And he said, he's mad. You don't have a, have one of him. And then you all went and put another one up, didn't you? Yeah. Yeah. We immediately saw that. So we ran downstairs, spray paint, another hung it up and then that was on social media too. So is the plan to anytime a guy's on campus? Are you going to keep this up? Yeah, that's the thing. I was like, well, I mean, if we're the banner boys now, now we just got to roll with it. Well, banner boys is a good thing. Now, are you all in a fraternity that I hear? Yeah, yeah. We're here. We're Sigma Kais here at Utah. Sigma Kais. Okay. So I suggested Ryan that if we get right in Stokes, we ought to do our show at that house this week. I love it. I mean, we got to make that happen. So if we get both those guys, maybe Thursday, we could do the house. Would you be okay if we did? Absolutely. Absolutely. Okay. All right. I'll tell you what, I got your phone number. If it works out, then maybe on Thursday, we'll go out there and do the show there. I don't know. I think you guys better be careful what you wish for because who knows who might show up for that. But, and if you get, you all have my information, if you get any more messages of recruits, you let me know. Okay. Absolutely. You'll see the banners. Well, tell me before you put the banners up. But seriously, that is very cool that you all did that. Like that's the best of UK fandom. And what do you think about the fact that other people are putting them up at their houses? Yeah, that's awesome. I hope to see them all over Lexington. That's great. All right, Gabe, Theo, thank you very much. Well done. Absolutely. Thank you guys. Go cats. Thank you for having us. There you go. So isn't that cool? For all the pushback, our fans get a lot of times. That's our fan base at its best. We have some fraternity guys having some fun and ideas kind of just jumps out of nowhere and now everybody wants to be a part of it. So here's what you're going to do. I'm going to give Mario this number. You're good at Mario. Gabe and Theo, I assume you're still listening. When you get back to Lexington because he's in Louisville now, you go by there and give us a little. Is that all right? We'll get put Mario on the streets. Kind of check it out. Yeah. Also make sure they have restrooms that are not disgusting if we're going to do a show there Thursday. I haven't really said I've been in. I know what Fred house restrooms can look like. But very cool. And then I love that other places are doing it. I do too. But you got a lot of time for today. And if this happens, if they get both those guys, it's it's reason to celebrate and have a good time and have a party. I love it. I don't know if they realize if we just show up on the yard. What's a lot of time? I've been to a fried house. It's been 20 years for me. Yeah. I guess maybe I went to a couple of do gloss. Many years ago, but that's probably it. All right, we will take a break. Come back. Hour number two more on this. Take your calls. Kentucky sports radio.
