Summary

Club Shay Shay's Nightcap Hour discusses NBA roster dynamics with Giannis refusing to play with ball-dominant guards, Anthony Edwards' NFL aspirations, and major NFL trades including DJ Moore to Buffalo and speculation on AJ Brown's future. The episode also covers George Pickens' franchise tag situation and features extensive Q&A with listener questions.

Insights
  • Star players increasingly demand roster construction that maximizes their individual impact rather than accepting complementary roles with other elite ball handlers
  • Cross-sport athlete transitions remain aspirational but face severe conditioning and tackling adjustment challenges that casual fans underestimate
  • NFL franchise tag strategy is shifting toward short-term leverage while negotiating long-term deals, creating risk for non-QB positions without guaranteed contracts
  • Offensive coordinator continuity (Joe Brady with DJ Moore) is becoming a key trade value driver as teams prioritize scheme familiarity over pure talent acquisition
  • MVP race is increasingly competitive with multiple viable candidates (Jokic, Shea, Cade, Jalen Brown, Luka) making late-season performance critical

Some claim that Giannis misses playing with players like Holiday and Chris Middleton, who were partners in the 2021 championship run. That is the biggest, that's not to suggest he wants to get the band back together. Still, some suggest Giannis doesn't want to play with a ball dominant lead guard, preferring to play with a primary injury driven by team offense. Holliday and Mildred were comfortable playing without the ball around him. Yeah, he can say that. He won a championship with them. Yes. But he don't want to play with a ball-dominant guard. It's because he's ball-dominant. Yes. He has only one ball. Yeah, and he don't want to be just no pick and roller or no pick and popper. So he's like, man, I don't want to play with them dudes, bro. I want to be the ball-dominant where I'm coming down, I'm spraying out, making plays. Don't put me to where I'm going to play with Luka and y'all got me sitting in the pick and roll, running to the rim like I'm eight. Yeah. I'm just telling y'all, you know. Hey, hey, hey, Joe. Hey, goddamn Yana's got to evolve now. He got to evolve his game. Okay, we know you can only be dominant on the ball. Add something else to your repertoire. Learn to come out that goddamn pick, right? Learn to, you know, learn to put the ball on the floor and pop and shoot. Learn to put the ball in the floor, not just to debone and steamroll people over. Get somebody some sauce for a minute. Put the ball on the floor and stop for that mini, man, like KD and pull up at 18. He ain't got that consistently. He can do it at times, Ocho, but consistently. I'm living with that. If I'm guarding him and he gonna shoot that 15 foot, I'm gonna let him shoot that thing all night. You hear me? Yeah, but I think, you're right. I think he is gonna have to evolve, meaning he ain't going to be he can't be as ball dominant as he is playing with other greats. I'm just thinking because I think if they don't make no noise this year they're going to have to trade that man this summer so you can obviously get some capital off of him before he just walk it without nothing. Yes. You're absolutely right. Joe, you're absolutely right. If a team take a chance on bringing him in, they're going to already have a guy there with him. They not just gonna bring him in by itself trying to change the organization. They gonna bring him in to be a piece of a puzzle to try to win a championship. Rob Markman- Hey, you know what need to happen, Joe? Rob Markman- What's that? Rob Markman- It's probably impossible. I don't think LeBron gonna play a 24th year, but one of the Lakers problems and one of the Lakers struggles has always been not having the goddamn big. Not only not playing defense, this is probably dumb because Luka's ball dominant and I don't know why we're not playing 2k but they're seeing yannis in a lakers uniform but he's also ball ball dominant so i mean i'm i'm saying he could probably probably those two probably couldn't play together huh no you don't think they can play together huh he said he didn't want to play with a ball dominant who had the highest usage rate in the nba luca luca hey you put him out there in la la land maybe he'll change his mind oh you just you talking about yannis yeah yeah yeah Nah, because Giannis has a taste. He's a league MVP. He wants to get another one. Because Giannis is trying to be up there. When y'all start talking about goals, what about your boy? When y'all mention Magic and Jordan and Kobe and LeBron and Steph? Well, we're not going to mention that in Milwaukee. He gets some more championships. He's like, hey, he want championships. He's got enough MVPs. He needs championships. well he ain't but a few places he can go man to where right away when you add him you like okay they got a chance to win a title and wherever he go they're gonna have a ball dominant guard and they're gonna strip it they're gonna strip it they're gonna strip it down because you're gonna have to give up a lot of those pieces to get him just to get him yeah you're gonna have to get some up now i'm not finna i'm not finna a i'm not in the business if I'm a general manager, of building some other team. Yeah. My job is to make my team good. So, oh, you know what? I'll trade – you know, look here. Give us a couple of, you know, mismatched pieces and a couple of unprotected first – no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I need some guys that can come in and contribute right now. Well, I think this postseason is going to say a lot. Meaning it's going to be some teams who are going to get slighted to where you're going to be like, they're going to run over with, and they're going to be looking to add a big dip of this summer. Anthony Edwards said he wanted to try to play wide receiver or backup quarterback if he wears a ring in the NBA before 30. Joe, take a listen to what that man had to say. I find a way to get a rim, but once I get one, I'll be cool. I'll probably go play football, especially if I get one while I'm still young. I get one before I turn 30, I'm definitely going to try to go play football. What position, though? I'll probably play receiver. I might try to go quarterback. Probably backup quarterback. I ain't really got to play unless my starter get hurt. I can go for that. I can go for that. If my starter quarterback didn't hurt. And everybody loves to back up. Yeah, everybody play behind my homes. Hey, he said, he said, some way, somehow I got to find a way to get me a ring. Before he 30, he going to go play in the NFL. What y'all think about that, man? I like it. I like it. Listen, Ant full of life. Full of life, Joe and Unk, man. He's an inspiration for a lot of people. Hey, he's funny. He has great personality You know, he's always smiling And one thing, boy, when he's on that goddamn hardwood He give you everything he got Yeah, yeah He give you everything he got And he's putting butts in his seat He's entertaining He's polarized I can understand why they would want someone like that to be the face of the NBA And he's declining, you know You know, for other reasons But, man, dude, dude is inspirational, man Boy, look, you know So anytime somebody come out, it's just like anything. Somebody come out there for the first time. What are they trying to do, Ocho? They're going to try to break Ant-Man in half. Try to kill him. He too tall. And Ant-Man hadn't fallen, hadn't taken a football hit. I think he stopped playing football, what, his sophomore year in high school? Yeah. So he hadn't taken a hit in a very, very, very long time. And he's a big-ass target. and this different type of hitting up here now. Yes. That man say, well, he 30. By the time he 30. Well, I sure love to see it. Yeah, yeah. I sure would love to see it. He's athletic as hell. I think it's the honesty and passion that he speaks with when he talks, and you never know what's going to come out of his mouth. You know what I mean? He dead serious, too. But you got to love to contact now. You got a football. Now, it's not as physical as it once was, but they still knock hell out of people out there now. Don't get it twisted. Oh, football ain't like it used to be. Boy, you know what? I wish the average fan. You think an average fan could take a hit, Ocho? Wait, what era? This era or our era? Right now. Nah, nah, I don't. Nah. Even right now, no, probably not. Boy, please. Nah. You know what? You know what I think? It skews the fans that watch on TV. You need to be up and close. Even from the stands. You can't tell how fast the game really is. You need to be on the field. You need to be field side to give you a better understanding. Hey, them boys, turn your lights out out there. What? Hey, Joe. I already know. Hey, if you can't be playing football, ain't gonna be nothing but some flag on, boy. You hear me? and they borderline is that his spidey senses have been turned off so he doesn't know where the collision is coming from so he doesn't understand like coverages like at a certain coverage I know where the collision should come from I know where the quarterback the quarterback pushed the ball a certain way Ocho I know I'm supposed to turn up in my shadow I'm supposed to keep going I'm supposed to peel back shoulder he said there's danger in front of you man yeah you go the other way There's a headache over there now. I want to see it. I ain't going to lie. I want to see that man get out there. Because he told me. I talked to him. He's like, man, look here. He's saying, man, you know how much running I got to do to be in this kind of shape? He's like, I could be big like you. I'm like, I don't know if you can be this size, but I'd like to see him get out there. I get people in the chat to my football soft. Somebody that's never taken a hit in football. Say football. It's easy to say that. It's easy to say that. Don't say what you haven't done. They don't know. Well, y'all got my respect. And I ain't talking about high school football because there's levels to this. Everybody was great at high school, and there have been people that was great at high school that was great at college and ain't do too much in the NFL or didn't even make it to the NFL. And there were people that were great in high school that didn't make it in college. And there were people that were great in college that didn't make it to the NFL. So for y'all to keep saying, oh, the NFL soft, it's easy for you to say that because y'all ain't taking not one hit. not one it ain't trying to take one nope first day they go out there just sign a waiver just sign a waiver and say you know what I like to play receiver for a day I like to play running back for a day and then I want you to come back and say man they soft they don't even hit yeah okay then I'm gonna listen to what you gotta say about the NFL being soft but we'll find out come on Ant I sure hope you get a I sure hope you get a he say he want to be back he want to be back up for Mahomes he say I all got to play I all got to play unless the starter get hurt man look at Ant-Man how Ant-Man did RJ Barrett I don't know what he was thinking what he did why RJ ain't just move out the way oh my god all right man hey ain't nobody got more posters than mn right now okay i'm talking about somebody on the poster i'm talking about posters you can put on your wall and be like boy look at him they still do posters joe i'm sure they do man i said you know without we were kid joe eb the poster was the thing what you couldn't even see the walls in my room hey hey hey speaking Speaking of things back in the day, look what I just found from when I was in high school. Hold on. What this Joker got? Probably his high school jersey. He probably broke in my house and stole it. Ain't no telling what this dude. Yeah, I don't know what RJ thinking, but you ain't finna get me. Oh, you got the brick. Oh man. Hey, where I start playing, Joe? You got the big rig. Joe, you had one of these, the Motorola? No, I ain't had one. No, I don't want you. Joe, you're too young. Uncle, you had one. Oh, yes. And they had a junior. That was the first one, and then they had the junior. Yeah. Hey, that joke was swayed with Nino Brown, didn't it, man? Hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, man, stop. Hey, what's up, sir? Hey, 30. Hello, can I speak to the peaches? Man, Joe, you must have had that in college, because that was like the early 90s. It's 89. 89, I think. Because I got one of those when I was in 1990 when I first got to the Bronco and men were like $4, $5 a minute. Yeah. They were free on the weekend? Yeah, yeah. But here's the thing though, Joe. If you went out of town, you was roaming. So you had to play the roaming charge. And the roaming charge. Hey, Unc. What? Hey, Unc. My granddaddy had the one that's sitting in the console. Yeah. Ready for a different take on Formula One? Look no further than No Grip, a new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series. The Chicago Bears are trading D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills along with a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick. According to Albert Breer, the Bills had sniffed a round for A.J. Brown and Alec Fierce, so they weren't actively looking for a better receiver help. They wind up with D.J. Moore, who will be reunited with Joe Brady, his offensive coordinator in Carolina in 2020 and 2021. The Bills had the ninth-fewest receiving yards by wide receivers in 2025 with 2,107 yards. DJ Moore ranked sixth among wide receivers in reception, receiving yards, and receiving first downs with 392 since being drafted in 2018. Ocho? Yes, sir. You like it. You see Josh Allen? You see James Cook. You see DJ Moore. You see Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid. Obviously, you know, Keon Coleman. Joe Brady said it's his job to make Keon Coleman great. Yeah. I like the move, huh? I like the move. Obviously, going with your offensive coordinator, you're familiar with the offense that you ran when you were in Carolina, and people need to understand some people don't like the move. Some people have said, oh, why would you let DJ Moore go? hello did y'all see luther burden play last year thank you you don't make moves like this until you're sure about someone else that's on a much much much smaller deal for one they want to get roma dunsey in the first round yeah i mean yeah i mean listen you took roma dunsey in the first round right but luther burden has been out playing rome rome is playing rome has been playing good he got he got a case of the drops a little bit he got hurt too got nick he got hurt too but he's going to be good but luther burton i mean he showed promise he showed extreme promise and we've talked about it multiple times and he's popped out on film every time he's played yeah every time he's every time he's played so i think it's a good move especially for the bears um it give josh allen another target another uh reliable target at that yeah you know and dj moore there's some there's some things that he does really really well uh great at contestant catches he can go deep He can catch shallows. He can catch the bubbles. He can catch underneath, intermediate routes and short. And he get jiggy with the ball. So you got your damn near Swiss army knife when it comes to DJ Moore and him being able to do a multitude of things for you offensively. Hey, I like it. I like DJ Moore over there with Buffalo. I think it, to kind of piggyback what Ocho was saying, that reliable target that Josh Allen has been looking for, I think he has him one now. You know what I mean? So I'm pretty sure he's happy about that. yeah yeah Ocho get the young fella right Buffalo might be back in business hey boy I got I can't wait to see them boys I see them boys in April too yeah yeah man it's gonna be interesting build on what you got James Cook keep running the football and now you add another weapon with Shakur and Kincaid and Keon Coleman, DJ Moore steps right in. Let's see what they do because I don't know if the Patriots take a step back. The Patriots and the Ravens are the most likely potential trade partners for A.J. Brown per Jeff McClain. Philly is rumored to want at least a first for him. Ocho, where do you see A.J. Brown playing next year? Give me those two teams again. Patriots and the Ravens. I see him going to the Patriots. I think it's probably going to happen. He's going to go to the Patriots. Obviously, Stephon Diggs was released today, or maybe it was yesterday. I'm not sure exactly which day it was. But Mike Vrabel, very familiar with A.J. Brown. Very familiar with A.J. Brown. I think they're going to reunite again. It will give Drake May another reliable target. Yes. Stephon Diggs coming off a great season. You know, he's going to end up somewhere else, probably Baltimore, if I'm not mistaken, if my sources are correct. But A.J. Brown will probably be with the Patriots. Just know I said it first, and every time I've said anything about anybody going anywhere or anything sports-related, I've been right every single time. That's what we do at Nightcap. We get it right. But Ocho, why was everybody so upset at us when we were saying this is going to happen? man and y'all just trying y'all just talking bad about feeling oh yeah he ain't gonna get i said right do y'all not see the writing on the wall yeah i mean but those are actually fans of the team so fans of the team actually don't want said player to go anywhere despite the issues and the turmoil that's going on with their team don't you want to be told the truth though yeah yeah no them philly fans them philly fans yeah they don't want to hear that but Philly fans don't play you right you right but you know what I think it'll be beneficial for both parties I think AJ needs a change of scenery and I think they need another place another guy and this is two years because even when they was winning the championship he said he didn't get the fulfillment that he thought he was going to get and last year was bad last year was bad who they gonna replace him with Uncle Ocho if Philly give up A.J. Brown who they gonna replace him with that's a good one right there cause if I get a first for him you know there's normally depth at the receiver position you know you know you could normally go in there fishing and get you a DB a wide receiver or running back it ain't gonna be no A.J. Brown though no it ain't gonna be that but you know what you get you can't get what's that the dad show get some goddamn speed yes you you get you get you some speed and hopefully that speed is able to develop into something nice i just think the thing is that it puts a lot of pressure on your quarterback it puts a lot of pressure pressure on your offensive coordinator when i gotta focus to try to get you the ball yeah i understand for me i think as an offensive coordinator you try to get the guy the ball early. But, you know, teams know you want to get him the ball early. So what I'm going to do, Ocho, I'm going to roll the coverage. I'm going to take it away. Every time. And then I'm going to force you, and I know the longer it goes and he doesn't get the ball, boy, that plays into my hands. There you go. It's as good frustrating. Yep, that's all I need. I know Ocho woke the ball. Hey, I need you the first quarter, first quarter to half. Don't you let Ocho touch this ball. Oh, I'm touching that. Double team. Joe, in the first quarter, I'm going to look on the sideline. He's going to be over there like this. Hey, mad as hell. I was like, look at it. Look at it. I remember them days. series. Let's take a listen to what Dak had to say, guys oh yeah george george loves football um that's the one thing about it i just want him to know don't change your love for football don't don't don't get in the business mind of this you played last year on a one year for not even that much right uh so if you can go 30 whatever it is now i think it's the same thing i got so you know uh when i'm frantic so hey go do it um at the end of the day bet on yourself um he's a hell of a player hopefully we can get him long term and sign that but if not um i think the way that he plays the game the person that he is it'll be just fine hey look look i'm i'm i'm i'm with deck on this i understand you and ocho oh man pay the man his money make sure that man gonna get his money okay ocho just he he just gotta do it another year man do it another year for it then we get it long time we'll guap you up you You know what I'm talking about? Make sure you straight. Well, come on, man. Come on. The difference is, Joe, is that a quarterback can get hurt and get his money. You see Josh Allen, I mean, excuse me, you see Daniel Jones coming off an Achilles, gonna get his money. You see first cousins. Yeah. Wide receiver on any other position, you coming off Achilles, you not getting no big money. All right, listen. You think a wide receiver can tear his Achilles and still get a top contract like Daniel Jones or like first cousin? Nah, nah, I know that ain't possible. I know that ain't possible. I want that. That's worst case scenario. That's why you want the long term money because of worst case scenario. I'm playing for the worst case scenario. Listen. Hey, Joe, listen, Joe, man, I love you, Joe. I love Dallas fans too. Dallas fans always been good to me. They kind of been upset at me, you know, because I've been talking about the George Piggins situation and wanted him to leave. It's not that I wanted him to leave. Dallas fans, I love you. You know I adore y'all. Y'all been good to me, and I've been good to you. But I'm just understanding. I want y'all to separate your love for the Dallas Cowboys because George Pickens is a part of it. I just want George Pickens to be able to get what's best for him. I understand. I understand. No, no, no, he not. Because I just heard Dak say, bet on yourself. Bet on yourself and do it one more year. I heard him sneak that in there. Because Dak said he had to go through that. He understands. Yeah, but it's different because he also understands even if I got hurt, which he did when he dislocated his ankle, they still paid him his money anyway. But he's a quarterback now. He can do that. Thank you, Joe. I appreciate that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, Joe, what's my favorite word? Ta-da. Yeah, there it is. Hey, Joe, Joe, let's say George Pickens play on that franchise tag, right? Yeah. 28, 29, 30 million, whatever it might be, right? Yeah. He go out there and he get hurt. Come on, man. Stop thinking. Let me finish. Let me finish. He get hurt. Joe, he don't have no security. He had no security. Now, what I'm hoping for Dallas Cowboys fans, because I'm a fan of y'all, because y'all are a fan of me, and I'm a fan of the star. I just don't like the way your owner operates sometimes, and you shouldn't either. Now, I'm hoping that they gave him the franchise tag to be able to work on a long-term deal. They got until July. I'm hoping. Yeah, we got until July. July 14th to be exact, if I'm not mistaken. So I'm hoping, Joe, I'm hoping that's the case because I love the duo. I love having a dual threat. I love that having those two weapons, you know, in his arsenal. You know, but one of the things you also do need is you need defense because now you got all this high power on offense and you can't stop goddamn nobody. You can't stop a goddamn runny nose, Joe. Guess who they remind me of? Who? Ta-da, the baby. The damn baby. Shit. You talking all that, man. Nobody trying to hear all that. Hey, Joe. Nobody trying to hear all that. Look. Hey, Joe. I'm talking good. I ain't being disrespectful. Ain't nobody trying to hear that. Look, man. Look. We need pinkers on this tag. We're going to take care. Pinkers going to get taken care of, Ocho. Okay, Ocho. We just got to come out and ball out. But, yeah, we do need the beef of our defense. We need, like Oc say, we need a hell raiser who can get out to that quarterback because, boy, look at hell. We struggled this past year in that area, especially defensively. We got cooked. We put on- Joe, you been to a Cowboys game yet? Nah, I ain't been the one in a minute, honk. Man, you ain't no real fan, Joe. Chill, chill, chill, chill, Ocho. Ocho, you got to chill. You ain't no real fan. You got to chill. Man, Joe, who'd everybody? Yeah, ta-da, the bingo, Sam. Hey, don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Listen, your owner, Jerry said he gonna make a splash. Jerry said he gonna spend money this off season. Well, let's see. Something that the Cowboys don't do. Give him a chance. Give him a chance. He's been a game 30 years. You got the man worried. All he got is his word. He said he's going to spend some money this summer, man. Let's see what he do. Hey, Joe, I don't know if you've been around, but I don't know what rock you've been under, but his word ain't been good for a long time. Yeah, but Cowboys fans, I'm hoping y'all get what y'all looking for, man. I'm here for y'all. I'm here for y'all. I'm just telling you my opinion and how I feel. I know your allegiance is to your team and the players that are on it. Therefore, you want said players there. But also, I think it's also selfish to not want him to maximize and get as much as he can, especially going out there and getting hurt on that franchise tag. Come on, man. Stop talking about the man getting hurt. You are killing me with this, man. I'm not kidding. Joe, I'm just being honest. Joe, you got to weigh all your hours. Joe, let me ask you this. Hey, Joe, you got insurance? Yeah. Ta-da! Why you got insurance? See? Listen, man, look, he gonna be all right. He gonna be all right. I want him to be all right. I want him to get, I want him to get, hold on, five, 25. Hey, if he get 155 million, five years, 160 million dollars, 100 million guaranteed, Ocho, I'm good. Damn, that's number one. He gonna, he get paid more than CD? I got signed after CD. CD contract, two, three years old. This one brand new. Fresh out the press. Damn. Fresh out the press. All right, we're going to get you out of here on this one, guys. It's time for our final season. Hold on. I'm going to ask something. I'm going to go back to basketball real quick. Hey, Joe, you played in Boston, right? Yeah. You know anybody there How much courtside tickets in Boston cost It not that expensive huh Yeah yeah That one of the problems Yeah you talking about What you think Just give me a number. And please don't say it's like being at a goddamn liquor game. They're probably going to run you about 25, 30K for a floor seat. Hey, you know what? Hang up the phone, Joe. Hang up the phone. I ain't telling no lie to you, depending on what you go to them. Hang up the phone. What game you trying to see? No, I mean listen my baby my baby going my baby going back to um, she going back to Boston I'm like she going back to Boston Saturday I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna come on down to Boston and since I don't know what to do down there It ain't football season. So what's the next best thing that I could do? Go to maybe go to a Red Sox game Shit while I'm there, I might as well hit the goddamn Celtic game Huh? They're in spring training and those not in spring training Is that the base getting ready for the baseball classic? Oh my bad Well, I ain't no one But I'm saying what game you want to see, it all depends on what game you want to see. If you're trying to see a Lakers or you're trying to see somebody with better players or better teams, it's going to cost you. Oh, well, I just want to go to a game. Whatever's coming up soon. Like, I'm talking about, you know. You on floor seats. Hey, Joe, I'm not going to no game where my feet ain't on the hardwood, Joe. Yeah, you're going to be. If it's two people, yeah, you're going to be looking to spend lead 30, 40K. Well, I'll tell you what. That's out the door. Now, Joe, are we still going to the game March 16th out there in Atlanta? Yeah, I got you. You know I got you. Okay. You sitting with me, right? Our feet on the wood? Yeah. Yeah, I got you. I know. If your feet are on the wood, it ain't no good. I like that. I like that, Joe. All right. It's time for our final segment of the evening. It's time for Q and A. Hey, hey, before you ask the first question, before you do the first question, Joe. Yeah. Hey, Chad, before we do the first question, hey, think about this, right? Yeah. Hey, Joe and Unk, what do you call a pig that does karate? What do you call it? Just real quick, real quick. Pork chop. Hey, Chad, what do you call it? Huh? Pork chop. Oh, that was a good one. That was a good one. That was a good one. Okay, okay. Ah! Hey, you got, you got, you got your gun, Unk. That was a good one, that was a good one. Hey, okay, I got, hey, what happened to a frog car when it breaks down? What happens to a frog? A frog's car when it breaks down. It croaks. Let's make it happen. Hey, I told y'all, man. Hey, look. Hey, King Iso. Can I tell y'all something? Can I tell y'all something? These people do not play about me, man. All right. Man, you do what you do, buddy, Joe. You do what you do, man. Hold on. Hey, King Iso? Hey, Ocho, why you act like you can't hear now? I'm saying he said King Iso. He didn't stutter. He said what he said. I don't like that, Joe. It's okay. You ain't got to like it. Just respect it, homeboy. You know what I'm talking about. All right. The next one comes from Peter. Listen, I'm just looking around in my old closet, right? See, I got a lot of bunch of jerseys in here. See? But look, look what I found. Huh? Get out of here. Yes, sir. Look, look, look. What that thing, bitch? I've been rocking with Joe since 09, man. Okay, okay. This is the first jersey my mom bumped me. It means a lot to me, man. Put some respect on Kaiso Joe's name. Huh? There we go, man. Hello. Hello. Hey, how about you pair these people, Joe? Hey, they got my back like four flats, baby. They know I'm down. They know I'm down. Hey, he know that. He know Peter. The last one comes from Ryan. Hey, what's up, Nightcap family? Unk, Ocho, Iso. My name is Ryan. I'm from the Philippines, but I currently live here in China. Just letting you all know, guys, you have some fans over this side of the world, too. I just have two questions for you all. Number one, when you going to bring back Spello Cinco? Number two, when you going to bring back Nightcap After Dark? We OG fans have been missing it for a long time now. So please let us know Please bring it back I've been watching old videos Of Spelo Cinco And some of the funniest stories Just to get a laugh And it brightens up my day Much love Wow That's what's up man Philippines that's what's up All the way in China Salamat po Which means thank you In Filipino Salamat po You gotta bow You say you got a bow. You got a bow. You got a bow. That's in a, I don't think that's in Filipino culture. I think that's in Chinese or Japanese culture. But he's from the Philippines, but he lives in China. So therefore he should be used to the bow as a sign of respect. He ain't Chinese though. But he's in China. What I got to do with where you at? Because we're in China, you do what the Chinese do. You don't know what that's saying? No, that's wrong. Hey. Black Moses 26. As a Laker diehard fan, that old man got to pretend he hurt, came back in the game, then took himself out. Please retire. 41-21-101. If you're the self-proclaimed GOAT, take over the game. That's why at 41 of age, man, they still expect him to play like he 25. That's why you know he great. Yeah. You don't expect that. You don't expect that. You've never expected that from nobody that was 37, 38, 40. Just the greatness of gold. I gots no chill. Dominate Aiton looks like disappear Aiton. Lord, don't get me started on that guy. Hopper King, Zion, or Trey Murphy to Detroit to help Cade next season? We. Boy, hey. Ocho, Ocho, I don't know if you've seen Zion. What's the other kid's name? Trey Murphy? Yeah, Trey Murphy. Yeah. Hey, boy, Detroit can – Hey, look, I think Zion ain't nothing to be played with no way. I just think he need to be in a situation to where he's around good veteran leadership or guys who work hard. You know what I mean? Yes. I think you put him in a different environment, around some different type of players, you're going to see a different guy. But he's dominant every time he steps on the floor. I think he can help anybody. I ain't going to lie to you. That'll be a nice move. I like Trey Murphy. Oh, I do too. I do too. I think he'd be great. I think he a better fit than actually Tobias. Tobias. Yeah. Yeah, he a lot younger. I wonder who the Pistons have to give up. Tobias. Yeah, the Pistons take that in a heartbeat. Philly talk with PA. Spurs are hot. Hornets on a historical run. OKC is back. Tatum coming back. Pistons are good again. And y'all are talking about a team that can't defend. We talked about the Spurs. We talked about the Spurs having to play the Pistons. We talked about them. OKC didn't play tonight. When OKC played the other night, we talked about Shadim. Okay. We talked about Tatum coming back. We talked about that. Okay. Maybe they were late. Huh? They might have been late. But Philly, you follow him. He leave all these chats. He's in the chat all the time. He know we talked about it. Normally, we talk about the team that played that night. We talked about the Spurs. They played the Pistons. this is how it normally worked and Chad y'all know this in football we always lead with the game that just ended in basketball we lead with the game that just ended then we get to the game that occurred earlier we just did that we talked about Jason Tatum coming back off the Achilles injury matter of fact we talked about the hornets last night oh my bad did you not get that one philly you didn't get that we talked about them last night huh and we talked about they had won six straight games by at least 15 points you missed that part huh and we talked about lamello and we talked about uh uh uh uh knipple and we talked about bridges. You missed that part, huh? Okay. You got us. Drew Jitsu 83. Y'all had messed up past my bad time last night. I'm dragging ass and finishing this tomorrow. I'm so excited about the big three, assuming you'll be healthy. Oh, yeah. That's the plan. That's the plan. I got a couple moves I got to make. I got a couple people I got to go see before before the big three start up. So I'm gonna start this little one-on-one spree. I got a particular person who I'm gonna start it with. And oh yeah, he know who he is. Yo, you started with that one? Yeah, he know exactly who I'm talking about. Who that? That Al. Put a name on it. Yeah. Ocho Cinco. Hey, it's funny. You starting that one-on-one spree, it might be a one-stop shop, what? It might stop here with me. This is what you don't understand, Joe. It's not about me beating you. I'm not going to beat you at your game. You're one of the best to ever do it. That's not the point. The point is to show you that it ain't going to be sweet as you think it's going to be. I'm going to show you that I'm able to score on you, Joe. I'm able to score on you, Joe. I'm going to show you I'm able to sit in the chair, Joe. I'm able to sit in the chair and slide my feet left to right like Coach Carter taught them boys in the movie. Yeah, yeah. That's what I'm trying to show you, Joe. I'm finna be in your face, I'm a hand in your face. You turn, you try to back me down, elbow in the back. Joe, I'm telling you, I don't need bricks in my back pocket, Joe. I got something not very many people do, Joe. That's hard, Joe. Okay. That's right, you can't mention this, Joe. Okay. I'm about that life. Hey, hey, like- Whatever type of time you on, Joe. Yeah, you can be about that life, like dude said on life. I'm gonna start part two of my killing spree on your ass. Let's believe that. No, I'm gobbling. Love the stream. What's the best TD and Ocho got in his memory? And is there anyone in the current league that comes close? That's you, Ocho. He was saying my best what? What's the best TD that Ocho got in his memory And is there anyone close in the current league That comes close to you My best TD I'm assuming he means celebration Yeah For me, the best to me The Hall of Fame jacket The Hall of Fame jacket to me When you made your own Made my own jacket You like that better than the proposal Oh to the cheerleader That's a good one You had to some railroad oh that cost me about 50 grand did it? where that big ass head at? I still got it my homeboy sent me that all the way from Mexico that really came all the way from Mexico just so I could use it for the celebration but yeah that Hall of Fame Jaggers celebration to me you know and how I thought about it Joe knowing I'm going to cross the 10,000 yard mark if I got over 30 yards yeah that deep ball against the Ravens across the 10,000 yard mark. And at that moment, I felt, you know what? They not putting my little badass in there anyway. I'm going to make my own damn jacket. That's how the idea came about. Black Moses playing for 30 years. You should break all the records. Please retire. All I know is that Kobe played 20 years. Did he break the record? Hmm. At the 20-year mark, at the one-year mark, two-year, three, all the way to 20, LeBron has scored more points than Kobe. Kareem had the record at 20 LeBron broke every record Kareem had At the age of 20 So in 20 years LeBron was the all time leading scorer I'm confused So if you look at it Kobe ended up with 33,000 points And played 20 seasons LeBron had 39,000 points In 20 seasons Wow Look, I ain't good with math. I told y'all, multiplication, I wasn't good. But last I checked, 39 is more than 33. So if I score more points in the same amount of years, what are we missing? What are we missing? Come on, Black Moses. Hop back in the chat. Warren Palamex, 1997. Gentlemen, who y'all got in order? Brenton Wood, Al Green, Smokey Robinson Marvin Gaye first Marvin Gaye is first Al Green next When it comes to singing I'm going to let you and Joe have it When it comes to R&B Marvin Gaye is always going to be first Go ahead I was going to say Al Green is second You got Al over Smokey? Smokey Robinson Yes, what do you mean? Listen, I love Smokey Robinson I have all his stuff but we talk about Al Green, huh? You got Al Green on Sam Cooke? Ooh. Ooh. Ooh. I do. I got him on Sam Cooke. Sam Cooke bad boy. You got Al Green on Sam? Yeah, Sam bad boy. He bad boy. I know he bad boy. He bad boy. He bad boy. Hey, honestly, all of them bad, man. Yes. All of them bad, but... You start... Here's the thing. It's supposed to be difficult when you talk about the best of the best. It's supposed to be splitting hairs. And it's supposed to be like, damn. I don't know. I don't know. Boy. Sam Cook, boy. Sam, man. Hey. Sam, get out. I mean, everybody want to talk about a change going to come, but he way, way, way deeper than that. Yeah, way deeper than that. to Smoky got some hits too now oh yeah Smoky man goodness gracious Ocho what's your top three favorite quotes that Unc is saying hey bring your pad he wrote them down he got them down he gonna have them next year I gotta get my pad Fuzz Lightyear said ISO I need you to get that Mr. Tendonism and create a restaurant y'all can be Mr. BTA and still Hey, he ain't gonna fool on him, boy. T.S. Car-wise detail service. Jokic or Kawhi MVP this season? Kawhi not gonna win enough games. What you mean? Don't get, hey, but Kawhi ball, he ain't gonna lie. He been balling, but he ain't gonna be MVP. Nah, but he been doing his thing. I give him that. I ain't gonna lie. The boy been doing his thing, but Jokic is just, he's just guilty out there, man. The man by the average, another triple, a damn double. So the MVP for me is going to be Jokic, Shea, Cade, Jalen Brown, and Luka. That's going to be the five guys, I believe, in the MVP discussion. What do you think, Joe? Yeah, I do too. Wimby might get some votes too. Wimby might be in there. He might be. But I think it's going to come down to about the last couple weeks of the season before they really decide. That's how close it is. Yep, I agree. Pappy Ray what up King So what the difference between playing with Paul Pierce and KJ at Boston and then later in Brooklyn when they were older Well Paul my rookie year was Paul fifth year in the league so he had just signed this big deal for like $96 million, Arke Ocho. So he was in rare form. You couldn't tell Paul nothing. He was unstoppable. Like I said, he finished in the top three and scored my rookie year, so he was a different player versus when I seen him a decade later I played with him a decade later in Brooklyn. Things were – they were a little different. I mean, obviously, mentality-wise, you know, he was the same guy. But, you know, it was a lot different, man. He was young in Boston, reckless at times. But as he got older, you know, they had won a championship together, so they brought that championship pedigree to Brooklyn. And we had a good run, man. Brooke Lopez, he wasn't shooting threes at the time. I'm okay. Nope. And he played like a big. Yeah, and he broke his foot. That's what people don't know. He broke his foot, and we had to play KG at the five, and that made us faster, and we ended up getting out of this hole. Man, we started off like 5-15. We were 10 games under 500 on the front of Sports Illustrated. I'm like, man, we out here getting our ass kicked. They done had us on Sports Illustrated. It was embarrassing. So we ended up digging our way out the hole in like the seventh seed in the playoffs and ended up playing a Toronto who was a two seed, and we beat them in the first round, but we were shorthanded the whole playoffs. I mean, the whole season because Brooke Lopez got hurt. He wasn't nowhere near the player he is now. Black Moses, I know y'all don't F with the Steelers, but who should we get? I love the Steelers. Black Moses, what you talking about? Y'all probably need to get another wide receiver. Shoot, the first order of business is what we doing at the quarterback position. You notice I said what we? because right now I'm talking to you black mother so is we even though I'm not a Steelers fan the first order of business of what are we doing at the quarterback position once we figure that out then we worry about everything else but like Unk said I'm going to piggyback on what Unk said getting another viable target getting another viable target that can open up things for DK and take some of the pressure off his ass for a goddamn change Raymond Felton always say love us Cowboys fans and then say some bulljive. I guess he talked about you, Ocho. He said you always love the Cowboys fans and then say some bulljive. He do. But I still love you, though. Sometimes your mama say you love you, but she still beat you, ain't she? I don't change the love she had for you when she gave you that whooping. You can't say beat. Discipline. Yeah, I don't want us to get in trouble, Ocho. Let's say discipline. Well, God, okay, discipline. It make it hard to believe she love you after that discipline too, don't it? Hey, hold on. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, Joe, especially when she talk to you on every lash. Yeah. I told you not to. Hey, look, and then she come crazy and be like, baby, you okay? Like, ah, come on now, come on. Yeah. You want me? No, I fool. I just ate her ass cutting. I'm fool, I don't want nothing else. Mark 137 says, just turned 22 today. May I please get a birthday shout out over Love Nightcap fan. Been listening every day since y'all boys started. Much love. God bless. Mark. Happy birthday, bro. 22? Happy birthday. Man, I love 22, 22. Cutting up. I've been with it like yesterday. Cutting up. 1990. 1990. It was two months after I got drafted. Yeah. Cutting up. I already know it. Cutting up. Boy, it was two months before I went to Daytona, Black College Beach Week. That was the first time that I went in 2019. Yes sir, yes sir, yes sir. Tell me more, tell me more. If they were white. All white. Peanut butter guts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's the only car that I've ever had with peanut butter guts. Yeah. Ooh. Hold on. Oh, convertible? No, it wasn't convertible. I came to following you with the convertible. You had the S.L., I came to following you with S.L. Ocho, what you would do with that 22? Huh? What you doing at 22? Shoot, Joe, I was playing video games and working on my craft, Joe. I'm saying you was in college still or you was in the pro? I might have been my rookie year probably. Yeah. Yeah, it might have been my rookie year, Joe. All I did was play video games, Joe. Yeah. Play video games and train. That's it, boy. Same here. Same here. Black Moses. Some guys play for stats. Some guys play for chips. aka rings i'm back so anybody so whoever had the most so i guess robert or he played for rings because he got more than five yeah shit robert got about 89 on him he got seven seven yeah god damn yeah he got three he got two with houston three with the lakers and two with san antonio Yeah. So, whomever, so I guess Tom Brady was the only quarterback that played for rings. No other quarterback because Tom has the most. You see how flawed a logic that is? Come on, guys. Two things can be true. Oh, you like Kobe. Got no problem with that. You like Jordan. Got no problem with that. You like Tim Duncan. You like Shaq. You like whatever. But see, you see what you do? I thought rings was a team accomplishment. oh you like T but see when y'all talk about he couldn't score 81 he couldn't score 60 he couldn't score 50 huh interesting find it very interesting y'all like stats when it favors your guys okay okay I like it okay black Moses I got you I see how you do it I pick it up what you're putting down it depends You know the goalposts move depending on who they talk about. Exactly. You know how that works. Exactly. Exactly. At first it was this, it was that. Y'all talk about points and he played all this time. In 20 years, look at the numbers. They don't lie. One guy got, okay, Kobe has five championships. two finals MVPs one guy has four championships four finals MVPs that's I mean come on now what we doing here huh okay just checking Vontae Lewis 501 ISO we them boys team 501 hello how many times we see players get paid and not show up. Do it another year, then get paid. We need defense first. I saw we them boys. Team 501. We them boys. Hey, that's a crib. 501, that's a crib, man. I know. I know. I thought y'all was talking about blue jeans. Levi's. Come on, man. The butt flies. You know what they talking about. Just give us one more good year, man. We don't mind pulling out the checkbook, make sure you get about 170. You hear me? You get 170? What's, he gonna reset the market? If he have a hell of a year, he have another year like he had this year. I think Puka gonna reset the market. Oh yeah. Him at JSN, one of the other. I think Puka gonna reset the market. Oh, Puka definitely doing that. Cause Puka been putting up numbers since he stepped foot in the league. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Right situation, right scheme. And a big body that can take, get play through contact. Mm-hmm. Big boy. That concludes this episode of Nightcap. We want to thank each and every one of you for joining us. Y'all know who I am. I'm your favorite up. I'm my partner and co-host, Cincinnati great. That is Chad Ochocinco Johnson. And Universal Arkansas alum. Hey, good joke. What at? I was showing Joe my jersey. Hey, nobody got this, Unc. Yeah, ask him about Joe. Yeah, yeah. The cartel. Baseball, baseball. Yeah. You can hit the ball. No, no, I ain't finna hold you Joe, no. So even if we use a machine, Even if we use the little machine, you can... Joe, I got one eye, Joe. Right, right, right, right. I can barely catch the football. I was explaining to Unk, if you ever watch any clip of mine, you know how Unk, if you watch Unk play? Yeah. My Unk catch the ball out here? Yeah. If you ever watch me play or catch a ball, you ever notice, I always catch the ball. I got to wait till it get right up on me. Every pass I catch is right here in my face, Joe. Hey, so look, hold on though. While we on this subject, Unk, What's up with this Logan Paul thing? That man, he calling y'all out. I had to send it to you. What's up with Logan? Oh, yeah. It's easy to call somebody. But see, here's the thing. Le'Veon Bell challenged him, and he says he don't want to fight somebody that always fights. But he wants to fight somebody that doesn't fight. Miles Garrett is not a boxer. Fight somebody that box. Now, if you want to make it fair, okay, go around with Miles Garrett or some NFL player. Then you have to bring your ass on the football. See, he butt hurt for what Tom Brady said to him. Tom Brady called about it. He could do this move off the top rope. And Tom Brady said, yeah, that's cute. But Tom said, that's cute. Yeah. He said, look. And he said, well, I played with an all-state running back. I rushed for 1,200 yards. Tom Brady said, yeah, everybody was great in high school. I got seven Super Bowls. Nobody gives an ish. So he kind of got his feelings about that. You don't get. what good is that if let's just say a former basketball player says I'm going to challenge somebody to shoot that doesn't shoot basketball that ain't no challenge you've got to challenge somebody to do that Le'Veon Bell says I'll step up and you say well Le'Veon is not a draw you're the draw Miles Garrett is not a draw or some NFL player is not a draw in boxing you want to say oh I beat an NFL player at boxing. No, beat a boxer at boxing. That's impressive. Yeah. If somebody give him a run for his money out there. Yeah, look, I'm not saying the guy's not talented. He is. I mean, the stuff that he does and what he does in WWE, I mean, the way he contort and twist and do all that stuff, he's phenomenal. He really is. I ain't going to take anything away from him. I think he's immensely talented. but to challenge somebody in something that they don't do and that you've done yeah i'm confused lady already lady on box yeah any any any of the football players honestly you know regards to size strength regards to conditioning how in shape they are they getting that boxing ring they're probably gas out in the first minute, Joe. Yes. Like the first minute, Joe, it's different. It's a different kind of conditioning. Box Le'Veon. Yeah, it's a different kind of conditioning. It just, it's weird. If I'm Miles Garrett, I say, I tell you what, give me 10 pass rushes. You block me one time, I'll get in the ring and box you. Thank you guys. Please make sure you hit that subscribe button.
