Welcome to the No Spin News, Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Stand up for your country. Pretty slow news day with the exception of Iran and the swirl around it. I said at the very beginning, and you'll remember, that this was the biggest gamble President Trump has ever taken in his entire life. And we still don't know how that gamble is going to work out for the president. Can he prevail over Iran? Is the U.S. going to look foolish and weak? In the eyes of the world. NATO's against him. The American media is against him. Talk about President Trump now. China and Russia, not our friends. We have some Gulf states like Saudi Arabia. We're on our side. But we are heavily outnumbered. It is just amazing that Iran, a terrorist state, is winning the PR war. And that is the subject of this evening's Talking Points memo. So the American media is dominant all over the world. If you go anywhere, you'll see CNN. They got in early and they dominate coverage in the English-speaking areas. So CNN despises Donald Trump, and they're never going to approve of anything he ever does. And we have a situation where once you get the pope involved, that the secular media is going to go over and support the pope, no matter what. And, you know, they see Trump as the devil. Here's what I said on News Nation last night. I was just stunned at the pagans in the media being so upset with the Jesus picture. I mean, these are people. The last time they saw the inside of it, church was when they were baptized. So, I mean, it's a little, a lot of hypocrisy in the air. But it's predictable. Okay, so now the pope is the good guy, and the president is the bad guy. This is always the way it comes down. Now, the pope is a good guy. Okay, I can tell you that, but I'm going to explain it so that we all understand it. After the media came out and said, yeah, the pope is right and Trump is wrong, and Trump is disrespectful, whatever, then cable news ran wild with that. Let's start with the president. This was a sloppy and frankly disrespectful attack on the pope. I don't think he should have issued this kind of long ad hominem. He didn't get any points for doing this. There's nothing good that comes of it. So, you know, he shouldn't have gone down this path. Why would he do this? And look, you'll have some people on the right who will say, well, we disagree with what the pope says. Well, we support the president's actions, and the pope doesn't. Okay, but that doesn't mean you got to go after the pope, right? It was rather shocking to hear the president attack the pope, considering that there are 60 million Catholics in the United States, 1.4 billion around the world. And I think his remarks were certainly offensive to many Catholics and generally people of goodwill. Okay, we're an offensive to me, and I'm a Catholic, and I think I'm a person of goodwill, because I understand where the president is coming from, and I understand where Pope Leo is. I could mediate this myself. I could go to Rome and mediate the two sides. And the reason I could do it is because I understand both sides. So Pope Leo's job is to promote peace. He's a pacifist, and he doesn't really come at it from a political point of view. So logically, my question as a Catholic is, okay, your holiness, you saw Iran kill tens of thousands of its own people just a few weeks ago in the streets. Catholic Church didn't say anything. And it's true. Not a word. And now you know, because this is what the war is all about, that the West, at least Israel and the United States believe that Iran is close to having a nuclear weapon, which you would use to kill hundreds of thousands of people. And is that okay with the Vatican? Remember, the Vatican is a separate country. Is it okay? So these questions are never asked. And it's not the fault of the media. They don't get an opportunity to ask those questions. But certainly those questions need to be answered if Pope Leo is going to inject himself into this war, which he has, but he's done it passively. It's not like he went up and said, listen to me and this stuff about, but it's not what he did. He took his philosophy of pacifism, all right, and put it forth to the world, which is what he is compelled to do. He didn't do anything wrong. But in a realistic situation, there are things that need to be answered. Now, President Trump's job is not to be a pacifist. It's to be a protector of his people, we, the American people, and the world to some extent, although we have divorced ourselves from NATO and not entirely our fault, but his job, the President's job, is to protect people from terror states like Iran. Those two jobs, Pope Leo and Pope Trump, sorry about that, and President Trump, now I'm going to get, those two jobs are exclusive. There is no common ground, but there could be. And the key is people of good will. So I assume the United States wants to vanquish Iran because it is a theocracy that kills people. What the hell is that? And the Pope should want Iran vanquished for the same reason. There's your common ground right there. But the media is way beyond them. If you know your Bible, you know when the Nazarene, and I wrote Killing Jesus, you guys know that, was being tried. He was being mocked by Romans and Torians and others. He said, hey, king of the Jews, if you're such a king, bring your army down and free yourself. And Jesus didn't say a word. Again, because he was destined to be executed. And that passivity has been passed down over the centuries. And it's very important that people understand what's the underlying thing here. Remember when Jesus is on the cross, he says, according to the Gospels, okay, Father, forgive them, they know not what they do. Now, Jesus was just talking about the centurions there. The Romans who actually nailed them to the cross, they were just conscripts. They didn't know anything. He was forgiving them because they didn't know what they were doing. He wasn't forgiving the whole apparatus that led to his destruction. There are a lot of people who don't understand it. So anyway, I wish I could mediate this because it's not good for the world to have Iran winning the PR race here. In Italy, Georgia Maloney, the prime minister, has condemned Trump's remarks about the pope, but financial stress is hitting an all time high. Millions of Americans are stretched thin with no extra money, no room to breathe. And this isn't just lower income households. Middle class families are also running out of options. It's a political play. Robert Barron, who I respect, he's a bishop in Minnesota, a very powerful man on the Internet. He said that the comments made by Trump about the Pope were inappropriate and disrespectful. I'm not sure if I agree with the bishop about inappropriate, disrespectful. Yeah, Trump could have done it differently. But inappropriate? Well, we're trying to get to the bottom of this thing. We're trying to rally people of good will to line up with the United States to stop the terror government in Iran. I don't know if that's inappropriate. Anyway, that's where we are and that is the memo. Day two of the blockade. A few ships got through, but I think the blockade is the best strategy. We have the SENTCOM reports that the president gets every morning, but it looks like, you know, to starve Iran out and deprive them of all revenue is the way to go here until they come to the table. And apparently there's rumors that there's going to be more talks. So I don't know. I'm going to DC next week. I'm going to do a little fact finding there. I don't know whether I'll see the president or not. He did invite me to come, but I was pretty busy. So we'll see. But it is incredible that Iran is actually winning the battle of public opinion with the tremendous help of the American media. The joining us now from New York City is a doctor Ole Heineunen, who is a distinguished fellow at the Stimson Center, which is considered a nonpartisan think tank in DC based. However, the doctor is a former deputy director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the IAEA, which is located in Austria. And that's, you know, a good booking for us. We certainly want to talk to you, doctor. So there are a lot of people in the United States who don't believe that Iran is a nuclear threat at all. That's because they don't want to believe it. It's not based on anything other than they don't like Trump. They don't want to support Trump. So Iran is really not that much of a threat. My question to you is a simple one. Do you believe Iran is a threat to the world? First of all, thank you for having me. Sure. Yes. I think what is missing from this discussion as a whole are the facts, pure facts. What kind of capabilities Iran has today? How it has been using the high-end, this uranium it's producing? And what is the end plan for that material, which is very, very unusual, as the director general of the IAEA has said? We don't know very much about their plans. We don't know whether there are some additional new facilities, which still remains to be disclosed to the IAEA and to the international community. And now we have the first meeting, a first step, most likely on a very, very long journey. So let's concentrate on that and look what needs to be done next and get the people again together, talk maybe on very, very different angles. But then they perhaps can find a solution, which meets the US requirement. Iran will have no nuclear weapons. And Iran takes measures to convince the international community that that is really the case. Okay, but in this country, there is a widespread belief that we did destroy a lot of the enriched uranium in last summer, in June, with the bombing raids there. Do you believe the United States raids did destroy some uranium in that situation? Do you believe it? I don't believe before I see the facts. Let's put it this way. But let's look what took place in Fordo, Natas or Isfahan and a couple of locations associated with those facilities. Sure, that the devastating impact on Iran's enrichment program. They cannot enrich any uranium anytime soon on those locations. That's for sure. But the main question is, what is the status of uranium? They are normally stored in a small, fairly strong cylinders in special vaults. How much did they damage or did they got damaged at all? Or they just buried under the rubble? Yeah, they buried. So you don't know exactly the extent of Iran's nuclear program as we sit here and talk. You don't know exactly what they have, right? Well, we have some numbers from the IAEA, but we also have to remember a couple of nuances from the IAEA reports. They are, I think, ballpark figures are most likely correct, but IAEA has said all the time in all reports in the last few years that these are estimates based on information provided by Iran. Good to remember. So there may be small surprises. But now it's important to get the IAEA there, get the facts from the ground, freeze the material, see the equipment, see the cylinders, see the rest of the infrastructure to see, can we monitor it? Is it all destroyed? And what kind of measures should be in place to provide assurances that this material is by no means diverted from the current locations without the international community seeing it? So you believe that there is an enrichment program in Iran, an active enrichment program? You believe that? Hey, podcast listeners, Jillian Michaels here. And we have to think a little bit more carefully about these definitions. It's easy to say once you blow up a building that, oh, it's all gone. But as I said, we don't know where the material is. You don't know what the ancillary, where they had it. Now, the situation is easily solved by allowing the IAEA inspectors to go in and look. But the Iranians will not allow that, correct? Yes, that's the topic for the discussion. Why wouldn't they allow it if they weren't misbehaving? Well, to show that they are innocent and this is all false information, so please come and verify. So it's about, you're not going to push us around? That's what it's about? After they lost their top leadership and their structure has been reduced by bombings? They're still saying, well, you're not going to push us around? All I have to do is doctors let you guys in to look every couple of months as to what they're doing, right? No, there has to be continuous presence. Not once in two months. That's a non-start for a serious approach. All right. Whatever it may be, how long you'd have to be a presence there? You'd have to be there at all times? Continuous presence until one has come to the solution. What to do with this nuclear material which is there? But I don't worry about that. And what to do with the rest of the centrifuges which are in storages? They are not all in Nantansi, Svaha and Ophordo. They have an industrial production cycle. They are in the manufacturing places as they were in 2004 when the IAEA started the verification. Some 20 locations all over in Iran. All right. Do you understand why the United States and Israel then went in militarily? Because we have been told that this is a threat to the world. That Iran is a threat to the world because they are close to having enriched uranium at the weapons grade level for nuclear. So this is so important for Americans to know whether this is true or not. Right? It is. And it is for everyone important to know. And this is where the trouble is that we don't know. And we have to remember that they have still no how. They may have the motivation because now that they own this high-energy uranium, this is also a bargaining chip. What to do with that? And so there are many factors which kind of attract Iran to use this as I would say, negotiation weapon. But they are not cooperating at this point. Would you favor them with the non-cooperation, the military action? Is that the right thing to do for the world? Well, military action has taken place. That's the fact. Let's put that one behind. Yeah, but you're a human being. I mean, do you have any say, yeah, it should have? Or no? Or too early? Or, you know, I'm trying to get some perspective here, doctor, because people obviously are confused. They don't know. First of all, Italians know something which we may not know, but there are several reasons why they don't want to make it in public in detail. Let's start from that. The Iranian system is very, very compromised with through the satellite phones, etc. We saw it as a result of a bombing. But there are items missing from the picture, which makes me as a former inspector to feel a little bit uneasy. A little bit. Where are those pieces? Is someone having perhaps a tiny small enrichment plant, 1000 centrifuges, 2000 centrifuges, slowly spinning somewhere, or ready to spin using those centrifuges, which might be still in the stock? So these are the questions we need to raise. You can raise them all day long, but if they don't cooperate with you, your organization and others in monitoring, then we're never going to get anywhere unless we blow the hell out of them and the regime changes. Anyway, doctor, we appreciate the conversation. It's obviously extremely complex. You know, I wrote a book called Confronting Evil, where the worst people on earth attain power and destruction by good people looking away. And that's what I think we might have here in Iran, but we appreciate your time very much. Okay. Now, I wish the Pope had heard that conversation, because it's not 100%, but I think it's pretty high that the Iranians do have a nuclear program, a weapons program, and that they would use it against Israel if they could. By proxy, you know, it's not hard to, once you have the nuclear device to make it so that it can go and be deployed by third parties in Iran, goers, not us, we didn't do it, you know, that kind of thing. So the Pope has not dealt with anything close to that, and neither did his predecessor, Pope Francis. I want to reiterate again, both of whom, my opinion, are good men. They want the best for the world. Okay. Here's their, the closest we could come to their definition of the problem. Go. It must be said clearly, there are those who work systematically and by full means to repel migrants, to repel migrants. And this, when it is done with conscience and responsibility, is a grave sin. No one has said that the United States should have open borders. I think every country has a right to determine who and how and when people enter. But when people are living good lives, and many of them for 10, 15, 20 years, to treat them in a way that is extremely disrespectful, to say the least, and there's been some violence, unfortunately. I think that the bishops have been very clear in what they said, and I think that I would just invite all people in the United States to listen to them. Okay, and that was the genesis of Trump's disenchantment with the Pope's. If it had just been about Iran, I don't think this would have happened. But the president believes that both of these guys were open borders. Now, Francis, I got to say, he was an open border guy, based upon everything that he said. He didn't want any restraint. Leo is a bit more nuanced on that, that they should follow the law, but the law should change. And I'm kind of sympathetic to that, myself. I think we could have a much fairer system here in America. But Trump sees it as a repudiation of his tough migrant policies, and he believes that he has saved lives, thousands of lives, by keeping criminal foreign nationals out of this country, and that both Polks ignore that. And that is why he trumped. We need a Pope. I don't like Pope. You know, that was the fuse. And then the Iran thing came up. Now in Florida there is a new law just signed on April Fool's Day, April 1st, by Governor Ron DeSantis. It says on your driver's license, everybody in Florida gets a Florida driver's license. You've got to have your immigration status. And that begins in 2027. And that's a basically ID play to vote. But if you're going to use your driver's license to prove your identification, it's going to have your illegal citizen or your not. I like the law. The states need to have authority to regulate who's voting. Because remember the states are in charge of the election process. So DeSantis did the smart thing here. Now it'll go into the federal poll, the judges, all of that. But DeSantis will win on this. So that just happened. It wasn't reported at all. Other political things, Congressperson Tony Gonzalez, Republican Texas, has quit because of accusations against him. So has Congressman Eric Swalwell, California Democrat. He's quit both out of the house. And Swalwell is not going to run for governor, which he would have won the primary there. So look, these accusations are extremely serious. They should be vetted, obviously. So we know the due process was honored here. But it looks like both of these guys major problems. So they're out. But we should have a major investigation on this. Absolutely. So because of that, the odds, political odds about November starting to shape up, according to Cook political outfit, it's going to be very hard for the Democrats to take back the Senate. Okay. It looks like the Republicans are still solid there. But Iran is going to have a lot to do with this because that leads to higher prices for everything, as you all know. And I don't know. Nobody knows how long it's going to last. If next week it stops and Trump can declare victory, which he will anyway, then the Republicans will be in decent shape. Democrats don't have any leadership. None. Somebody asked me today about Hillary Clinton getting back into game. It's not beyond the pal. Hillary is making herself available to sympathetic television outlets that aren't going to ask her any tough questions. And there's a reason why this woman is doing that. She sees the same thing that we all see. There's no leadership in the Democratic Party. Back with a final thought in a moment. All right. Final thought of the day right after the teeping here, hopping on a plane going down to Florida, where I'm going to do a couple of charitable things. One for Joe Namath, who's got a charity that helps football players who have brain problems. And another event for a Catholic church down in Palm Beach. I don't know what it'd be interesting going in on Friday, chatting with the congregation. So we're down in Florida and this is my whole life here. So it's been the coldest winter I can ever explain to you how cold it's been in the Northeast. In Eastern Long Island, where I have a house, the ocean froze. That's how bad it is or was. Now it's going to be 90 this week and I'm heading to Florida. I can't get a break on this. All right, but that's okay. We have friends down there. Always good to get a little ocean, little breeze. I may go in. I may go in the ocean. I'm kind of a chicken now. If it's not 72 or 73, the water temperature and my God. But I'm going to try to get in there with a little dunk. So we'll be down in Florida. We'll be doing a program from there tomorrow. And some of our other stuff from Florida. We will be back over the weekend and here on Monday. So thanks very much for watching the No Spin News and we will see you from Florida tomorrow.
