Dean in Sacramento, California. Hi there, Dean. Hello. Thank you for checking my call. You betcha. I recently received your newsletter, and there was a very interesting article that you had in there about dash camps. And I was wondering, is there an app that I can use where I can repurpose an old cell phone to make a dash cam out of it? Oh, for sure. But you need to tell everybody who you are first. Oh. Come on. Don't you be shy? Don't you get shy with me now? Come on. Okay. I'm the promotions director for a radio station in Northern California. You want the call letters? Of course I do. Okay. Okay. K-P-A-Y News Talk 93.9. Which carries the Kim Kumando show. Yes, it does. And I love your Kim Kumando minutes, Monday through Friday, and then I listen on the weekend when I'm able to. So. How long have we been an affiliate there, you know? For as long as I've been here. I think I've been here about seven years. Oh, yeah. You've been an a**. And so, but I really enjoy those newsletters and there's always something very interesting in them. Good. Good. That. And so, I go through them in my morning when I prepare for my morning promotions. But the dash cam one was really interesting to me because I don't feel it's been covered enough. You know what? There are a lot of dash cam apps, but what you find is that some of the functionality that you have in a standalone dash cam is better with a phone. And also, the phones have a tendency to overheat when we start putting all these processing power, all the processes behind it. But some of these apps that you might want to look at is there's one actually called smart dash cam. Yeah, I know. Funny. That works. Can you just see them around the kitchen counter? Okay. So, we have this dash cam app. Why should we call it? Well, we can't just call it dash cam. I mean, it doesn't sound good if we just say dash cam. So, let's throw, oh, I got an idea. Let's start. Let's call it the smart dash cam. Oh, there. That's going to do it. That's going to do it. It does loop recording, emergency recording, stops with the vehicle when it goes on. But it doesn't have like GPS coordination, things like that. So, daily roads is one. And also, auto boy, instead of adaboy, it's called auto boy. But you can certainly use a standalone phone as a dash cam. But a lot of people prefer like the dash cams that do indoor, inside and outdoor recording. And then, there's also the ability with the dash cams to, you know, kind of save a recording in case in an event of an accident. And, but, you know, with dash cams being so cheap now, I mean, gosh, they used to be, I remember when they were like $600, $700. Now you've found a decent dash cam for a couple hundred bucks. Okay. I think that gave me what I needed to know. I think it may be, I would try the app for a little bit. And then it'd probably be like a gateway to a dash cam. I'm sure. Then you're going to, you know what? Because you're going to sit there, Dean, and you're going to go, oh, you know what? Wouldn't it be great if it did, you know, GPS tracking? And what about, wouldn't it be great if that, you know, like, I leave my car parked outside, that it has parking mode? Wait, I can't leave my phone in the car under parking mode because I need to take my phone with me. Yes, it's the gateway drug to a dash cam. That's all it is. So, so don't buy, don't buy, you know, if try these apps for like seven days. And if they keep coming in app purchases, in app purchases, in app purchases, then that's when you know, like, yeah. Time to go to commando.com and search for dash cam reviews. That's it. Hey, thanks for carrying the show, Dean. Really appreciate that.
