Two teas and a pod with Teddy Melanchem and Tamara Judge. Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of the TWAZi. Today we have captain Jason from below deck down under and his show just came out season four premiered and we're going to get the dirt from him. Hi, Jason. Hi, how are you? I'm good. How are you? Very well. Thank you. Are you doing the press tour today? Well, I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. I'm finished. This is it. This is it. You left the best for last. Exactly. It was trash out of the way. Well, Teddy's really bummed that she couldn't be here today. I'm so bummed. I know. I mean, you think back one year ago, almost to the date is when we were in New Orleans and she was texting you and you guys were going back and forth. And now we knew I'm like, what are you doing, Teddy? And now we know it was the the tumors talking. Yeah. How is she anyway? She's doing good. You know, she's tired a lot from the immunotherapy, but the immunotherapy is working. It's just, you know, the side effects from everything. And she'll be on it for probably another year. She's very grateful. She's a rabocon. Yeah, I know. She's just like, yeah, she's just what a facade, you know, like what is so strong? She's got strength. You've had your own battle with melanoma as well, right? Yeah. Yeah. And Teddy's been a huge big thing about that, you know? As you said, a year ago, we started chatting and and I put a post out there and then she reached out to me and just said, good on you, not many people do that. And and then the story, her story started unraveling at that point. And then I knew I found out what that meant, what she meant, because a lot of people were messaging me about their, you know, their story. Yeah. And then throughout my process, I did another post about a follow up and then other people were messaging me about they'd gone and got skin checked and found out they had melanoma because of the post. So and then I ended up doing the M.C. at the Melanoma Research Foundation last October, which is something she's heavily invested into. Yes. Yes. And yesterday, I just did a nude photo shoot, which she has done as well. Oh, she did that. Was it a little over a year ago, maybe two years ago, she did that. So we're going to see your nude body in Times Square on the. I'm so disappointed, too. I'm so disappointed. Why? I'm not going to be vain. I'm not going to be vain, but I started going to the gym in January for the first time, and I've got this mountain of a PT trainer and his goal was to get me bigger. And I said, I don't want to be bigger. I'm happy where I'm at. I just wanted to start getting into the gym. And then I started getting addicted because he's huge. And I started getting addicted to go and get him. And then I. Yeah. Yeah. Then you start getting body dysmorphia and all these things. I was fine. This is where I wanted to be for the shoot back in December. Now I'm like. Tell him to do a little Photoshop. I'm sure you look good now. You you do yoga, right? I was. Yes, I do. I started doing Pilates in January for the first time. That's what I want to start doing. I just I don't have the time. But I haven't got the I haven't got the. What's the word? I'm I'm a little bit embarrassed to go into motivation. The motivation, not the motivation. It's like going into the gym. I'm so I'm embarrassed like going into it. You look amazing. Classes, I'm embarrassed. It's like and my daughter's got it too. I'm trying to train her not to, you know, like, you know, once you're in there, it's fine. It's just like that first entrance into a new, new world. It's like, am I the awkward one? No, you look great. It is. But I did. I've done two classes and I like it. And it's it kind of suits me too. I've had a lot of sports injuries over the time. So I'm actually kind of on an upward trend. Getting through my sports injuries and, you know, my health is good. Have you jumped on board with all this peptides that everybody's talking about? Yes, for two years now. Do you do the BP 157? That was a purpose, though. I look, I've I've had all my cut was taken out of my knees through football. I've had patients on them. I've got a L5 disc in the back problem. I've had a really bad shoulder from football, rugby league. And that's all coming. That's all coming in good now. And I can only put it down. Really? Or mobility and it's got to it's got to come down to something. It's obviously something's doing it. And my knees are good. I still can't run, but I haven't got the pain in the knees anymore. That feels good. Shoulders, shoulders feels amazing. So. Wow. You don't have to tell me which one to use. You have to send them to me because. You're a sponsor. I know, right? There's just like so much information. It's like the Wild Wild West out there on social media about peptides. And it's like people that are not doctors are talking about it. I'm like, I don't know which ones are good. That is such a good. Question I I reached out to a doctor in Bali because I'm in Bali now about a month ago, and there's another company in Australia I reached out to because of that reason. I've been doing them. I went and had my blood tests, but I've never really had more follow up. I think it's important that I need to start following a proper guideline of what I need and why I'm doing it rather than rather getting into the hype of, yeah, that guy says it's great. So let's just get on it. And, you know, I think it's important to go and get a full body check for for everything, really. You know, I know it's it does cost a lot of money, but at our age, I'm sure somebody will do it for free. All you have to do is post. I'm terrible at that. I'm terrible at it. I'm trying to move into that. Get a social media social media manager to do it for you. That would be nice. I need to manage you. I need everything. I haven't got anything. I run solo. So yeah, I do too, for the most part. So how are you feeling about season four premiere? That's great. I really am. We don't I don't as a captain, I don't see a lot of it. Probably any probably say 30, 40 percent of it, especially after the next morning. After they've gone out, I walk around and try and do my little recon, pick up on mannerisms and have my own judgment of what's going on. It's not until I probably get to this point, especially when I sit in the trailer at Bravo Con, I'm like, what? And now that I'm doing the press run and I've been doing a lot with Daisy, I'm listening and hearing more and it's getting more exciting. When I saw that first episode and Daisy said, look, it's going to be like that the whole season. I went really and then I'm putting it all together. And I'm like, it is. There's not going to be any low. It's that first episode, not just with the housewives, but behind the scenes with us. The crew are going to be it's going to be full throttle the whole way. Let's talk about the housewives. So obviously, Teddy and I and Dolores, we recapped Salt Lake City. And I didn't realize at the time that Bravo cameras from the housewife show and then your cameras, there was like a double crew there. Yeah, the producers came down from Bravo and one or two cameras, but it was mainly the blow deck cameras that were already in situ. So there's a few extra people, obviously, looking after the housewives. But still, even if you add one or two extra people on top of what's already there, there's a lot of moving parts going on. Right. Right. How was it with these girls? It was great. I think I said to someone the other day as a classic example is I was down in Sydney with Heather and Whitney for a Bravo event and I spent a week with them. And it was it was like a comedy duo watching a meeting with them. And it was so funny. So when Heather rung up and then when she wanted to bring everyone else, I kind of I was looking forward to it. And there but there was no comedy. It was just a full charter of noise. So, yeah, it was. Can you clear it up for us? Did you make out with Heather Gay? No, no, I didn't. That's not at all. No, I feel like she insinuated and then I you were on Watch What Happens Live. Right. And you like debunked it. Like, no, that didn't happen. And then she backtracked. Yeah, look, it's that's she she'd obviously slipped up in those words when she was on the on the back deck. Yeah. I watched the show and I remember texting her. So that's great. Leading into Bravo Con. And then I was asked that on blow. Watch What Happens Live with Andy and I just I just went, well, what happens in Sydney stays in Sydney and that kind of escalated everything. Oh, you know exactly what you were doing. So I I'll have to own most of the flag that came out of that. What I don't know if you're single or if you're in a relationship, but would you single would you date a housewife or is that like, you know, fishing off the company pond? Oh, I like I live in Bali, you know, where? Yeah. And I'm I keep saying natural is the wrong word. I'm I'm more I don't know. I want some someone in the garden planning food and, you know, like, yes, round adventure, you know, it's like I don't need to be seen. You need Craig from Southern Charm. That's what he does. Yeah. Yeah. What about maybe there should be a real housewife's of Bali? Well, there should be two or Caroline and Sergio. They're there. They're in Bali. I love them. They're in they're in America now, but I met them at Bravo Con. What a lovely couple. And they told me they're in Bali. I'm looking forward to catching up with them. They're in America now doing doing something. But as soon as they're back in Bali, I'll be there and I'll be definitely catching up with them. Yeah. Aren't they building like a hotel or something in Bali? Yeah, they showed me a quick quick. They've got a little big retreat or something there. Yeah, that's really cool. Well, they're they're pretty they're pretty busy. Those two, they're always doing something. But a lovely little thought to us, too. Oh, they're amazing. So when you were on the when the housewives were on your your ship, is there any housewife that caused any problems on that trip? Well, we know Angie had a lot. We had to look after her a lot. It wasn't a problem. She got fine. Well, I think if I'm glad it only went for three days. Was she going to have an injury every 24 hours? Right. Didn't you? I mean, you were you were a yoga instructor, instructor, you were a medic, you were a captain, you were you kind of did it all on the show. Well, this this season we had Joel come back and now he's a he's a captain now. And, you know, he stripes off and come back and be with me for another season. That says a lot about, you know, his personality and character. So that allowed me not to have to manage the deck as much as what I do in those early stages, especially Charter One as a captain. We always get, you know, a lot of flak. Us captains about micromanaging. We have to at the start. There's so many moving parts and safety that we need to be involved at the start with these new crews. So Joel being there, the deck was fine. And then I could tend to being a medic. Yeah. How long are you out at sea? Like during the year? Well, look, blowdeck has has been giving me absolute everything in the world. I chose to take two years off work to be with my daughter because I didn't see her for two years during COVID. So I had a phone call and blowdeck happened. I thought, my crew convinced me to do it. So I did two seasons and the two years was up that I nominated to be with my daughter. And then blowdeck kept going. So at the moment, I'm with my daughter, probably 80% of the year. Oh, that's nice. How old is she? She's 11. She's a great age. Yeah. Well, if I was that, if I was a captain right now, full time, I would probably be at sea for 80% of the time and seeing her for 20. So it's a tough life. So yeah, that's what I was wondering. You probably out at the sea for so long. Like how is it to have like a normal relationship? You know, I would imagine it would be pretty difficult to maintain a wife for a girlfriend and be out to sea all the time. Yeah, it's definitely a huge concern in our industry. We tried to get a point where we want to be rotational, which we might be two months' work, two months off, but you're always carrying work back home. And then you're always preparing for work when you're at home. So it's it's a tough life. It's not something that was it wasn't the first chapter in the captain's handbook that I got. It should have said at the end of this seven years of getting your certification, you'll never see your family. That would have been a nice should have been a big bowl. Does your daughter want to follow in your footsteps? Well, she dies with me now. She she's only she did a certification when she was 10. So she comes away on a little adventures. I love that. I raised with the audience. I raised money to build schools in Bali and made our recycled plastic waste. So she came and opened the schools with me and we've gone back and visited them. We just went up. I'm starting a new thing called Current of Change, which just dropped my first one on YouTube this week, where I go to places and talk about locations about it's going to move into a travel and food and get to know the area, but also talk to people that are doing great things for the environment, coral restoration, food. I just talked to a company that just started up and they're building school furniture out of plastic waste in Indonesia. So I want to go and combine my love of travel with a purpose. And that's kind of what I want to use my platform to. And that's like a big thing I've learned out of this melanoma that this platform can be used for something. And that's about it. Yeah. Speaking of the melanoma after Teddy was diagnosed, I had melanoma as well. And afterwards I went to the dermatologist. I'm like, you need to make sure it's not anywhere else. You need to look at every crust. You like crevice, everything. It was like, did that scare you? Yeah. Yeah. They said, you can come back in six months. I came back in three. Yeah. Yeah. Because I never knew until Teddy that it could metastasize. I didn't know that. This yeah, I have another one here and he said, no, that's fine. That's fine. I he said, come back in six months. I was back in Sydney. I'm like, I really want to come and see you. And he said, oh, you didn't have to come back for six months. I said, I really want to check this one out again. Yeah. I see you in six months. Maybe in three. So is there anything you can tease about the rest of the season? Tease is a different. Well, I'd like nothing's ever nothing's ever the same as the way it starts. Put it that way. We there's always changes. The one thing is that we have this great crew that come together with a lot of experience and you'd think that that would be the sounding board for all the other crews to look up to and and follow their way. And maybe they're the biggest problem throughout. Is there any other Bravo show that you could see like a crossover? Cross over coming back. Daisy always talks about Housewives of Tomic. That would be good. She was that so I'm not up on that. So I'll say that I would say it wouldn't be that it wouldn't be that entertaining. But I would like to have the boys on chef and Austin and all that. They'd be great. West and all that. That would just be just one ton of fun. Yeah, chef fishing will go diving. Craig will play around with some cushions. Austin will cause some trouble. Get a bit jealous. He will. He will. Yeah. Now, who's a better chef stew? Chef stew, is that am I saying that right? Chef stew. Chef stew. Daisy or. Or Aisha. Aisha. Which one? Well, it's Aisha went from stewing to chief stewing with our franchise when it started up. So then she moved on to on to the Mediterranean season with Sandy. Look, she was fun to work with. We got on so great. And Daisy has got a lot of experience. Now, we have Chef Ben on this year. Now, I think it's important to mention that that he's coming back for a long time. And the audience are loving the fact he's coming back. But he's a lot to handle. And we had Kate Chastain. She could handle him. Hannah. Did I hear Kate's coming back? Do we like duck? Some Facebook. No. Oh, I thought I heard that. Wow. Good. Good for her. Well, yeah, she needs to be part of the bravo, regardless. She's so witty. But look, I don't think many people could have handled Ben. Look, but Daisy can. And their relationship throughout the season is so. So funny to watch. It is just like two. Two people just coming together. Just like, are they going to clash? Are they going to clash? And then they come away. And then they are just constantly. It's like, I don't know if Aisha would have tolerated that. Daisy did. She had a point to prove she was coming off a bad season on sailing where she really wanted to prove herself. So she really stood up and stood the ground. So, you know, good credit credit to her for having them. You know, not sitting back on her heels. Let's talk about. Do you watch Traders? I've started catching up on it because I was just on Watch What Happens Live with Candice and look, I was like, I cannot believe. I saw that. It's so good. I need to do more about this because I live in Bali and everything's through VPN and everything. And I'm like, OK, now I'm going to get right in and I need to get there quick because I'm really enjoying it. I think you would be great on it. Well, they asked me that the other day and then I start to watch what happens live. And then Candice said, stop, stop, you're giving yourself away. But because I'm the captain and I'm a bit of a, you know, sit back on my heels. I'm kind of my motto is, you know, the quietest acts is the sharpest acts. I say enough. I don't say enough. I collect a lot of things. Well, that's a good way to play Traders. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, because it's usually the loud ones that they're they're out quick. Yeah, I can fluctuate and I like to get to know everyone. I wouldn't. Now they'll never put me on as a trader now. They'll probably put me on as a faithful, but I'd love to be a trader. Well, you know, Bravo has a new show, Love Hotel, and it's girls, you know, it's like four or five housewives and they have all these suitors, like all these men. But I think they should do it with guys like you and Shep and, you know, like some of the Bravo guys. And then would you be up for that? Definitely. I like that. I yeah, look, I. Yeah, I live a very simple life in Bali. You know, I'm not up with all that, but I to I would like to be kind of one of many rather than be the one. You know what I mean? Yes. Yes. Less pressure, right? Yeah. Yeah. The only thing you do is fight over a girl. One of many girls, right? I can do that. I mean, everybody wants to know about your dating life. All the, you know, I don't know how many times I've heard of Bravo Con. Like Captain Jason's there. Like, let's go see. Let's go talk to him. All the single housewives. Yeah, so it's fun. I last brought on I stayed. Yeah, I was over the whole time. You're in trouble. Yeah, I was over the whole time and I actually didn't get any functions. I was kind of boring, but I I went there with a purpose to give the audience 100%. So I walked out of there really proud of myself and just. Are you saying last Bravo Con? You weren't so sober? No, no, I've been good. I mean, I sure know I've been really great about it. No, I just I just wanted to I just it's so long after those many days. And that's where you do down, you know, if you're in the green room, have a raga reader and then, you know, next minute, it's 10 o'clock at night. You're having another one and another one. It's day drinking through the night for like three or four days. Exhausted and you go and all the audience are there and you just in your mind, you're like, you're signed because you want to have a break. Well, I didn't have that. I went in there and I was just like, yeah, I was 100% the whole time. Did you come home from Bravo Con sick? A lot of people did. No, I was fine. You're fine. Yeah, I was boring, but I was fine. And I really doubt that you were boring. I'm sure you were great. I gave everyone 100%. So I felt that's awesome. But I am single. I'm 2026 is the year. I phrase it from below deck. He tried to get me on Maria, which is an app for people. And then apparently you've got to get accepted. And it's been six months. I'm not even accepted on that. I've heard people complain about that, like it takes forever to get accepted. Yeah, well, I would say we need to find some other way because that's not working. And that's the one like, I think, was it Shep talking about he's on it? Yeah, yeah. So you're up for dating now. So you want to be in a relationship? I've got it at that time. We brushed on my daughter earlier. She's 11 now. She's moved from in a year. Just like, where did it go? Like from a year it went from a little island girl to now she's going into support shops and she's like, no, puppy, don't come into the shop with me. It's not cool if you're seeing with me. Like, what? I know. That's what happened. Where did that come from? I feel like at 11 they start. I have a granddaughter. It's actually 11, almost 11. And they start turning into a little young girl. Yeah. They're no longer that, you know, they want to wear crop tops. And I know I know I'm like, oh, is this acceptable? Last year she was 10 and she went and she said, Papa, I've got to go to the pharmacy. The chemist said, what for? She goes, it's girl stuff. And then we went there and then she went into the pharmacy. She took some money and she said, I don't want you to see what I buy. I went, OK, I mean, we see it up, went back home and she went into the room and locked it and I was like, oh, I started doing some. Oh, Google. I was like, what's going on here? And I went, oh, what do I have to bring her, mom? And then she came and she had lipstick under her eyes. She goes, Papa, I think I did something wrong. And I will get an iPad with tutorial on YouTube on putting makeup on. So then I try not to laugh because I didn't want to make her feel bad. So she goes, give me five minutes and she locked the door and then she brought me back in, but she set up all the makeup and then put makeup on me. And now see, you should have put that on social media. Yeah. How cute. That is adorable. Well, I just want to say thank you so much. I know our time is up, but I appreciate you coming on again. You're always welcome. And next time with Teddy for sure. Please, please. That's great seeing you again and give Teddy my big wishes and well wishes. I hope to see you. I certainly will. Thank you. Now go get some sleep. I feel like you work too much. Yeah, it has been a big couple of weeks. So yeah. I'm going to walk around Central Park. Oh, you're still in New York. That's right. You're still in New York. I've had jet lag twice. I had jet lag in LA and then the Australian Open was up on in Australia. So I was staying up late watching the tennis and then I came to New York and I had jet lag again. I got asleep in the afternoons and then wake up through the nights. Is it freezing there right now? It is, but the sun's shining and I'm going to go check out Central Park. And so my daughter wants to see some snow on FaceTime. So I'll try to find. All right. Thank you so much. Have the best time in New York. Thank you. Appreciate it. Bye bye. You want to advance your education, but not on a traditional path.
