Okay, I'm gonna make this real I'm gonna go after this. I'm gonna go from my government name to what my artist name is now. When did all that happen? Are you someone I started you to go when I got like seriously making the busy? No, just when you started beginning seriously like I'm gonna put the money behind and then put everything into it I mean, I like I know you've been around it for a minute since you When you say I'm going all in Well, I mean see I'm just gonna do it like pretty much lost everything And I So I've done a lot of stuff where I did I play saxophone on deja vu for Beyonce Then I tore it with John Lesnes eight years and I produced this little song tonight. Best you ever had I moved to LA and I had every I thought I had everything. I'm signing John Lesnes I'm getting managed by a Niels team Something and I had everything you know saying but you were signing John ledges regular um publishing cover yeah Yeah, so we were like working working in rye blue rather time stuff What's your level the game is a game to you or people in and you know The social science for you that after you will end their change that can aid all you or will start a What have people looking at you of certain highway because of how they feel sometimes you have those Forcing around that that that that that that try let steer you another way So I just I just had a lot of that kind of stuff You know and and when you're a creative person Then like you be your station saying your space. They don't like you bear off and do other things But then said oh you can do you do all this because we anything is when you're like working with All artists that's like already established you never think you have to find a way to fill a boy If you're not filling a boy and then if you could come you really try almost stepping on their toes too They get scared with that too because like just like there just like you're trying to build your your Your name and your resume and and when you're married time they are too So they're trying to keep theirs afloat so they don't want to have a ghost to put in really That's that moment flow you know I say so we're working with those artists you got to come in for the boys Then after you feel the void in us then you get to some fight where you need another space We have selfish inside you have to give away from that and you know I mean roll from a bro of believer in God that's it and I still like it was just I didn't know if I never got Is he to get away from those things or away from those people I would have never found myself working there so So maybe records for the big artists and everything's cool and everything But I didn't know that I could make records for myself at the time I never even made records for myself So then when I got out of the publishing deal and I got out of the mess Situation, you know, it was almost like the mcconn it was black follow mr. Liberale you're not with them anymore They were not you don't tell anymore. So we were like okay, so we just put our it down We just put ourselves like we ever get to that position again when you ever gonna miss it So we just so you know miss a little more with other production but as a On artists that I lost all that it was like okay What I do now? Who do I trust who do I believe in that could that can make this work? If so Because I had already signed it Who then I had this one artist he opened up in Philadelphia in my hometown Forge and I left and and we can't young or to really do shading already you are deal You didn't want to do it. We were like we did all this You gave you money Got you videos and all this and you didn't want to do it So I just got to the point where I did a shuffling artist So the only artist I worked with was that we're paying so if they didn't pay they get the saw So yes, so that so that helped you then when I started doing my music that me Artists and and leg rules and everybody's fucking pay attention to the production again And I'm like okay, that's weird. They're paying attention to the production again But they're not paying attention to the artistry but they're paying to the production again because of the artistry It's weird Let me kind of like honing in the information you gave a lot of good information about like I want to hold it Yeah, I don't know This is a this is a two-deafy age career. So I don't talk to you. Let me know Now it's all the like I just want to can Just condense some of this stuff just so people can stay connected so basically in a nutshell You were assigned to John Legend's publishing Yeah, you were writing as a writer you were sounding as a songwriter. Oh producer producer you were producing and songwriting or just producing I was producing I didn't really you tell my lyrics and stuff right yeah I can't really that wasn't my on say that that's on I didn't even walk any right at that time Right, so you were just producing at that point. Yeah, right and then you produce some of those bigger records and everything like that And then after a while you were dropped from or released Legends right and then from that point when you say you lost it all what part just so everybody can just get a quick review We see like just like studios the ability to get them with certain artists, you know You hit off the art. I would hit off the artist that I used to work with You see what we could get in and they were like, you know, they were getting you right around or whatever You know, it's just it's just an intro to the beastly you're in your moment. You got to make that moment like you got to make that moment Actually, you got to try to figure out making lads. So yeah, you got to maximize you got to max nine that moment. So now So when that first time you want to record after any and we had to move these all on you see that Chelsea and you get out and all that stuff, you know, we would get the facial but we weren't getting the same So so you hit the facial is cool, but that's doesn't keep your flow of singles What keeps you afloat as a producer? Why do you keep your flow because of a radio flag? Because of the repetition of the record because of the strain from the record Titian and every day, you know, when it's not a single there it really isn't a focus And it seems like the labels to stop a market the same more than the other record So many more you market the bigger song that's the song is in particular single So that's pretty much what I get you got a market you don't market the record thing That's why that's why I barely work with anybody who doesn't who isn't really who doesn't look to pay for records because If you can't pay the market you really can't pay the market But sometimes it's a lasting TV release of them. So basically you create the record for artists can only pay you when they can't pay for marketing You're saying that's a loose lose it's a loose situation for you Yeah, for sure, for sure Because even though they pay you for the production you get up front for that Then yeah, so those scenarios cool that's cool for me But you know, I always tell artists like you need to deal with marketing like because there's so many There's some people who who paid us for records when they think oh well, I get a record I need a great record. I'll be able to I'll be able to buy I get a record from this thing while I be able to blow that that's Yeah, you're gonna go right here and people who play for well, you know, they'll probably like it But how do you get everybody to push play? It's the hardest thing in the world to get somebody to see oh, this he made a sale How I get this person don't you only to push play right? Could I get everybody that knows me to push play for or majority but even that If they have they have 24 hours in the day I'm just using today listen to a deck You know what you're saying so if you listen I'm trying to get you to take three minutes or two minutes out of your day to listen You have to get you to do that. Oh, yeah, that's yeah, I mean like I always say or just say I mean always yeah Well, I know you understand. I'm just saying it so they come so they hear when I'm saying Yeah, definitely definitely um let me go into this part here Rebiting everything so I want you to tap into if you could to the bidding wars audience Like when you were at your lowest how were you feeling? What kind of doubts around as you and then how did you fight through it? I'm a so I mean fighter I'm warrior and I see love the low moments because Feel good my feeling mostly. I feel them in my soul in my home And then it's like all right my dear out of this. I'm gonna feel like a winner. I like to like to I like to race. I like to like to win So when the I so I actually love to lose to look cuz I cuz I can feel the win as a belong like if it was easy I don't even think I'm gonna do this stuff So from the perspective of just so just so we can stay on a topic of a low moment When you get described that moment like how do they make you feel like what would you go through all that stuff like that It was like crazy, so I was like wow for like three times Grammy now at the time. I was three times I was like yeah three times I'm driving over this is so crazy. This is the craziest scenario Okay, you know it's it's just when you call Do the business and people don't do business correct? That's obviously you gotta make sure you teen knows what they doing That they're that they're handling your business for reckoning too because it's funny So I have people from the past. I was looking looking with a handout and stuff that we did years ago But then I come and I go look into my stuff Do all my stuff correctly So let's find it means just you really just started just to figure it out you gotta find right Tea to help so I'll push you along cuz yeah you take a break you Cuz cuz cuz the answer is you so find the artist and I'm gonna and I'm gonna if he and I'm trying to make things happen You you have it see that's trying to make things happen for you Oh then when when when the moment is over They go they go and they go find another artist you know they are from I said a lot is I mean Manage your teeth and cut these is that already There's always gonna be a arts. There's always one of these talent talent So they don't really so they're not like so we focus on you so you gotta stay high if you yourself Up is on yourself first before you can try to go here to you so yeah, at least we just some and me a but Uh, you know, I know but it's his high school So we respond a lot of work and um that we just believe in ourselves It's a tatete and just push through for some pull through let me actually this first of all things for the insights and I really appreciate it Mm-hmm how difficult is it to and always acts artists know when you want somebody to pay you for something You know give you money for your dream. That's a huge honor and commitment and responsibility How is it to generate money from an artist perspective like so other independent artists They don't understand the creative detail how hard is it to jail rakes? My other like thousand five thousand. I mean real money and just yeah from an artist or four of art Someone artist perspective as an artist you have to turn yourself you have to get off of my ass Say that you're a raffer and it's your a singer and you gotta get it to the my set of your brand If you're not thinking about making yourself a brand So you gotta get out of my set of I had talent and now in the 80s you've got to get some hot to leave a plan and you're a Cotec creator It's a now if you go with the stuff of the brand or a classic creator It's almost as all of it to do because they don't want to get upset with With how the numbers and the music will start out so you only do music and all we drop songs and don't do videos And you know don't show yourself. I'm sure you care for those show you are I don't know what people won't really care but people care once they care But you have to figure out to make them care about what you're selling the issue doing Got it Let me ask you this when it comes to Overall Where you are now explain to them been in wars audience where are you in your music career right now like explain where you are with everything I'm at a place where store everything. I'm gonna movies No movies and religion I know artists like actor and you know, I've always been told I've always carried the sage you have to have seven streets The city street income view is the end of your air your very there So I had just trying to find I just try to count the many streets with the music and with the idea of my my friend So to oh catapult it pushed that so I knew so I started out so after I got out of all that stuff And I was at my love. I was trying to figure out where to put music at because you know Music is in everything. So you know if it's not the industry. I was okay. Well, where can I put it? So I started doing skits with like You to the bus youtubers and stuff and what I'll do is put music or play shacks of phone in the skits or you know Or put you still the background put some of my you know or have the has Or like to put a cf of the video And it's something to the videos and do a song with them you know funny song or whatever Hey, you know that gave you some fans, you know through youtube So you know I'll be outside people running to you and I think they know you to my music. They know me to my youtube So yeah, so that's how you put my music in another land that also done me to this face of acting which help you You know and I'll give a sorry movie love is a present to you. I need one as an artist then okay And just just so we're clear and the reason I'm asking that and like the reason I want you to kind of Kind of like drill down on our little bit more is because a lot of people A lot of artists the goals you have to represent how high you trying to fly in life You know, that's that's true spit So you know what are some real things that you know you got to do with our financially Like this the whole not around you know, I'm saying like like what are some things you know you got to do You know to put yourself in that like what you need to put it well, I know it needs to be able to get Uh, you know some tools some play but that's why I'm so I'm putting all my A's it's so many baskets like the movie Disappear because I know it was like to collect materials and that's how you make money in this business It's not about one one scenario one situation that I had is about to have backing You know, I always talked about that back in my nobody ever sees it Because they don't work either Because it's all right, so so say you've got a hundred people in the world right there, all right They all listen to the song one you got a hundred play jacket Out of that hundred how many people were listening to you Oh, yeah, very few nothing on that's so that's so that's why you like to that's like some marital And when Nifty said it was in marital it's funny.
