•Feb 11, 20264 months agoSummary
The Kavino & Rich Show discusses the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory, the controversial 'FernandoGate' interview snipe by Colin Cowherd's team, and debates the cultural significance of Bad Bunny's halftime performance versus complaints about language barriers and political undertones.
Insights
- Interview booking etiquette in sports media is a gray area—hosts acknowledge they would likely do the same thing if given the opportunity, revealing competitive tensions beneath professional relationships
- Super Bowl halftime show criticism often masks cultural resistance rather than legitimate artistic critique; international expansion of NFL requires programming that appeals beyond traditional US audiences
- Third-party talent bookers and freelancers create accountability gaps in media partnerships, allowing booking conflicts to occur without direct responsibility from primary parties
- Social media feedback on cultural programming reveals generational and demographic divides, with some audiences resistant to non-English language content despite consuming international entertainment elsewhere

Come on. Stay in live right now. This go was right. Kavino Enrich FSR on YouTube Kavino Enrich FSR on YouTube. Watch what you hear and the live chat. Always popping. We popped out the chat right there. Let's go. Danny G is here. Super producing. 877-99 out Fox. That's LeBron James in the background. He lost last night. 119-110. Oh man. That's Iowa Sam. Spotty's on the videos. And we welcome back. The champion, Super Bowl champion. Damn, bye. This is TV. TV. Hear that twinkle in his voice when he did the update. Oh my goodness. He sounds like he has the light that, that little extra in his voice like a, like a teenage boy who just lost his virginity. It's so cool because he was there representing. He was at the Super Bowl. He's our resident Seahawks fan. But all those weeks, all the back and forth, all the banter of the NFL. It all came down to Sam Darnold, the Seahawks and Dan Byer. What's up, Danny? What's up, guys? You're right. Oh, man. I'm telling you, I didn't think that this team could do what they did. And it surely was surprising. But when you look at how they did it on Sunday, I don't know about you guys. And from all the people outside of, of my world, I've heard that, yeah, it wasn't a great game. And I fully understood that as it was going on. But when it's your team, you're so locked in. Oh, yeah, you don't care. You thought it was the greatest day ever. Right. And so when they went up 19, nothing. I'm like, okay, I think they've got it. And then boom, the Patriots score immediately. It's 19, seven, still like 12 minutes or so left on the clock. And I'm thinking, okay. Then when they picked off Drake, ma'am, like, okay, well, that's probably going to do it. And then it wasn't until the Nuozu strip from on the Devon Witherspoon sack that really sealed the deal. But even in the fourth quarter, it was still a still a little nerve-racking if you had a dog in the fight. Well, congrats, man. And throughout the show, we'll be getting more insight from Dan Byer, because I want to hear his reaction on, you know, half time and more of the game. But he was on the field. I told you that. Oh, he was one of the sugarcane. This is Bush League is what I call this. Bush League. I put it on the group text. Right. He didn't sneak in as a sugarcane plan. He actually had a ticket. So he was there. He was a credential. Yeah. He was a credential. I have a meme that sort of goes with what Dan said. And it's the frustrated Indian guy, you know, the meme of the Indian guy. Yeah. Yeah. He was like a Squidward a little bit. When you win the Super Bowl, but people only talk about what half time show they watched. You know what I mean? Like, you know, I mean, like, you know, I mean, like, you know, we should have a praise in the Seahawks and then buy her and his fandom and. Was a bad buddy or kid rock, right? What about my Seahawks? Everybody's talking about bad bunny. Anyway, again, we're Kavino Enrich, live in the Fox Sports Radio studio. You could watch and we could hear him. YouTube.com slash at Kavino Enrich FSR YouTube. Com slash Kavino Enrich FSR. We were supposed to have Fernando Mendoza as everybody knows. Yeah, but it didn't happen. But we got a cool pick out of it. Well, you can see all that. In fact, before we get into a final thought three have on bad bunny and kid rock. And it goes back to the 90s, a whole backstory. We'll explain. Plus we'll talk about fights in the NBA. Desperate attempts to get that woman in your life back. You ever mess up and you go to desperate measures to get someone back. Plus, I saw Iron Mike in the lobby. He's waiting to do some trivia today. We'll get to all this. But I want to say what's up to Stu Gotts because I feel like since we met this guy, he has only had our back. Is it last name, Gotts? First name Stu. Stu Gotts. What is that? Is that I pallying? This guy has only seemed to have been a good fella so far. I'm a fan of Stu Gotts being added to the lineup and producer Mike. The whole team there. Great guy. Fun guy. I had been a long time fan for sure. And I feel like every day now he's been getting our back with this column thing. Where Collins stole. Well, it's just great content. You say getting our back. Maybe stirring the pie is kind of how I see. He's like, he's on our side. Maybe throwing gasoline. Yeah, exactly. I thought we handled it. Oh, gasoline and daddy Yankee stayed home. But I will say I love the fun and the vibe that Stu Gotts is burying because this Colin Fernando Mendoza thing just won't go away. And I sort of love it to the point where our good pal, the producer from Colin Tui, reached out and he's like, guys, I'm up for the do it. I'm just like, we now have Collins producers. Okay. The truth is, we were sniped, but it wasn't from Colin. It wasn't from his producers that were pals with. Okay. It was some other ancillary producer there. It was a it was a three lance talent booker that was there on site at Radio Road. And we already said that, you know, yeah, of course we were disappointed, but we weren't mad at anybody, but we were there on standby to add insult to injury. We planned for this interview and we were excited about it for weeks. And then we had to sit there on stage and watch Colin interview Fernando from a screen. Like we were actually there. Fernando, you know, you know, you know, come back. Do you guys understand what we're saying? No, what the dare I say. I don't think I could use some of these words on the air, but like there's a category that's important for this one. A guy just sits there and he like, I felt like I was the dude sitting in the chair watching, you know, someone with my girl. Yeah, that's exactly what was happening. You guys are upset. I got a Fernando tattoo in San Francisco on Wednesday. And by the way, we did know the night before, but we did show up the next morning. Just in case we were able to squeeze some time out of it and make it happen anyway. Fernando gate. Yeah. It turns out we weren't able to. So we had a watch like, oh, but I just love the fact that, but we understood. I understood. I don't want to speak on behalf of everybody. I understand our new pals do gots. I mean, talk about a team. This guy's a clubhouse guy's a locker room guy. Is he? I mean, I like to think that was again, just nothing better. I have one bone to pick. Nothing, nothing better than someone that stirs the pot. So him is he that whole crew. They're fun. And we hung out with them at the staff. They're good guys. No, no, no, whose name I forget. And I feel like I talked to him the most. Taylor Taylor. The young kid, that kid. Don't feel bad about forgetting him. He don't know. Yeah, he said you guys were the same guy. Yeah, he don't know if I'm you know, or you know, he said you were rich. Kavina because I forget the kid's name. And I met him a hundred times, but he's such a good young kid. Izzy, of course, we all know from ESPN and and stew gots, but a good team. Izzy ripped handsome that guy. Goody. Israel Goodie. Yeah. When Izzy joined the team, it's just Kavino's man because he went down one notch of in shape hosts on Fox 4th radio. Like now you behind Jonas Lava. You behind a lot of people now. Look at two days in a row, though. Stugots has claimed that Fernando was his interview. And because he wasn't going to be there on Friday, he graciously gave it to you guys. Because it was in happening in his time slot. Wrong buzzer. No, it wasn't. It was in the morning. We ought to wake our butts up early, which is why we were on the stage during Colin show. Let's go start. I'll let him think that though. Yeah. He's our pal. He's our pal. If we were on the traders, we'd have a little alliance with Stugots right now. Let's, you know, let's vote off. So the music. Let's, let's give the facts then here from the source, right? We're the source. Danny G. Spot. Our team. We coordinated this interview a long time ago. The facts are we were supposed to interview Fernando Mendoza at Radio Row. It was one of the biggest gets for Super Bowl. We was on our list to start the week. He was on our list. We were really excited about it. We were prepared to do it. We found out the night before that man. We're not going to have the time because Colin's getting the interview. We didn't know how that happened. We assumed that someone saw his name on our list and they tried to snag it. Turns out it was a third party booker that sort of swiped it. Colin had no knowledge of it. Neither did his producers that were pals with Tui in the rest of the crew. Right. We did show up anyway. We did show up. No, Tui was upset. He really was. We had watched a whole thing. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. We recorded a story. Yes. Here's a deeper question. Would we have done the same thing? Had we given the opportunity? Did you talk about? Like I know the on stage and say it out loud that if one of us tackled Fernando while he was sitting there on the herd that it would have went down in sports infamy. I didn't say that. I'll blame Rich for that. Rich share with the class really quick what your theory was. Well, Fernando Mendoza was sitting on a chair interviewing being interviewed by Colin while you were watching on live TV. His chair was like way too close to the end of the stage. And I said if someone randomly just tackled him off this platform and he got hurt they would go down in like infamy as like the guy that he like all like a maniac. He didn't have to get hurt. Do you say if he broke his arm? He broke his arm. But that is responsible for the NFL draft going in the program. Yeah, to be super thirsty for 15 minutes of fame. You know what? Run on the field. In today's world there's a lot of people that would be willing to do that. That's the weird part about it. Well anyway, my point was I doubt Colin even knew we were supposed to have him. He didn't. We went to Colin's party. I don't think like two days before that we talked to Colin. He said he was real happy for our success here at Fox Sports Radio and said wait, you know, see what I do in two days. And Colin has always had our back. So this has nothing and you know what? Two-way in music. I'm not kissing us. Those guys are always great when we fill in for Colin. But I really did feel like I don't think I know he could say I'm Fox Sports. I felt like the guy in the porn that sitting in the corner watching someone else bang his wife. I felt like I was just there on my stage. I don't know what I could say, but he said that. Well, I didn't know how to know what words are allowed. I mean, I think you could have found a more eloquent way of saying that. But I felt like here I am. Maybe you shouldn't have interviewed for ananda Mendoza. His Virgin years can't handle that. But I'm saying I like I was there just sort of watching with the should have been ours. But I can't say that Colin didn't know. And I'd like to think that, but I'm hearing otherwise, Sam. Cavino and Rich, look, I'm sorry I had to come in and take Fernando, but stars attract stars. The big dogs want to eat with other big dogs, not Cavino and Rich, it's dark star star star star star pie is what happened, but, you know, I don't know how to feel about it. We've been getting so much feedback about Fernando gate ever since this happened and let it be known. We weren't the guys that started it. What we did was our due diligence as radio broadcasters, true professionals, because we teased it all week, right? So when it doesn't happen, we had to explain that, hey, it was still on Fox Sports Radio. Just not with us. However, and we carried on with our interview. We interviewed Big Mike and step however, yeah, you did. Danny G. Danny G brought up something very interesting at where I was saying, would we have done the same thing? And to be honest, you're damn right. So whether Colin knew or not, I get it. Now, if you told me, because I saw that our pals, the odd couple, Rob Parker and Kelvin, guys that we are friends with, guys we had a cocktail with guys, but we respect that Christian McCaffrey to start their show one of the days. If they said, yo, Rich, Niners guy, you want to swoop McCaffrey out of a Mike, sorry, Rob Parker. Right. You don't think I would have done that. So I don't blame anyone. I'm not saying he should have stole him. I don't think you would have done that. If McCaffrey was on their list all week, let me tell you, I understand Danny. I use you saying that now, but I don't think you would do that. Yeah, that there's etiquette involved in, and I honestly think that there is, that's why two he was upset about this and called me because he's like, I don't want you guys to think that I would do something like that to teammates. Nobody's thinking that you know who's saying that? Stoo gots. Yeah. And you know what? But still gots to speak for you guys. Are you saying that he's just staring the pot? I mean, I'm glad he's got our back, but I feel like there's some of that too. I did see Christian McCaffrey on the list. I did know he was going to be with the other couple. And I did say I respect the odd couple, but if his schedule should change, we would gladly take him. I said specifically to our talent person, I don't want to steal a guest away from the odd couple. And you know what? No, you should have said you should have been like, Oh, I heard Rob hates Christian McCaffrey in the nine. I would never because I respect. I know people shows. Who's got the juice? I respect it. That's what it comes down to. And if it's not, you work harder. So you know what? Props to Colin. Yeah. It motivates me, man. It motivates me to not let stuff like that happen again. When we took that picture with Fernando and left the convention center, Rich told all of us, you know what? We got to work even harder. That's it. Well, you know what? I did have that. I did have that. It's real to the fight. I did have that real life thought. You guys said, you know what? We had a really good week. You know, I'll tell you guys, we signed an extension here. Oh, that's big news. Go flat. Go flat. Come on. I'm I'm bearing that little fun fact, but we had a good week. Every extension here at Fox Fortress, we love everyone we work it with. And so we were having a, we were on like a high. And I said to Kavino, by the way, that's big, big news. I was saying that the little let the press is no, let the people know the little Fernando Mendoza kicking the way, boss. This little thing. I said, you know what guys? It's probably a good thing. You should know what it reminds us that we're not calling yet. We're not damn Patrick yet. We're not there yet. We're still bustin' our ass. So if anything, you know what? We're no slouches either, bro. So I know, but besides, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, a school boy either. But besides that nice steak we had and some of those nice dumplings in Chinatown and San Francisco, it was nice to have a little piece of humble pie because it keeps you hungry, dude. Why did Tom Brady win seven Supervalls? Because he always played with a little bit of a chip on a shoulder. Yeah, it's a tostito, bro. And I've stayed hungry ever since 19, why 80 something when I listened to twisted cysts. You stayed hungry. I saw you eat some of those girl's go cookies and lobby. I stayed hungry because D Snyder told me to, not because not because Colin Cowhart sniped our greatest guest of the week. But if you want to hear it, but hold on the podcast. And thank you, Stu Gotts and crew for having our back real quick, starting trouble. Do you want to finalize it? I'm texting toy from the herd. And he's like, I would love to call on and give their side. Oh, man. If he wants to call by all means, Danny, can you connect with? Yeah, I'll connect with. You know what? And really bring the people in. You have to realize how disappointed we were. It was a debate in itself to even show up the next day. I didn't want to go. I was like, wow, what am I going to go there and get denied? And that's exactly what happened. But I think it was, it was like I said, it was sort of embarrassing yet funny to be on a stage five feet from Fernando while he was on a video call. It's because we're good sports. It's only humiliating is what it really is. There's always a chance. Yeah, but it was so. There's a lot of footage. Danny G has footage of what we had to watch. We had to watch Fernando and those on our stage. We were present at on our stage, watching him be an interview on a medical screen. Like can we hear him? And was that? Can I tell you the funniest part about it? Because you know, Danny's a huge raiders fan and Dan, by you to appreciate this because you know the setup DB was there all week doing his thing on the stage. Colin, when anyone needed to tap into Colin on the herd, it's the biggest show, right? He's the big dog. He's the big dog. There's a there was a setup, a camera and a little tiny set where people could patch into the herd. During a commercial, we see Colin on the screen. And Fernando and does is like, am I hearing anything? And he signals over to Danny like you come here, man. He's like, Hey, man, what's going on? Danny. Danny, Danny, Danny walked out to like, yes, Fernando. I'm sorry. Yes, Fernando. Yeah. And you're supposed to be on our show, but anything you need, I said, what up? And and watching Danny be like, no, you're there in a commercial. How you doing, man? Danny G. Yo, Fernando nice to meet you watching there. A little interaction. I was like, man, and again, we at least Danny had his moment, but for the head is moment, we got to congratulate him. We got our photo up, but we didn't get the interview. And again, I want people to understand that me. I'm speaking on behalf of me rich, can say whatever he wants. Steve, Kovino, know the difference? Me, Kovino. I'm not complaining. I'm just this explaining. I'm not hating. I'm just stating. I'm trying to give you the facts because you're hearing a lot of BS from Stugots, respectfully. And you know, now Collins producers, I'm telling you the facts. I'm not hating. I don't care. I moved on from it. Whatever, dude, whatever. You think you, uh, you think you're getting invited to the volume party next year? Oh, yeah, because I haven't said anything wrong. You, you, you and Stugots, get out of here. Let's say how to toy. Super producer of the herd. A good dude. What's up, toy? What's up, Rich? You are definitely not getting invited to the volume party. Good. I'll be there chilling with you, Colin, middle cough, the whole crew. Yeah, by the way, I love the relationship. By the way, the funniest relationship is Kovino and middle cough because they're like cut from the same cloth. My kind of guy. He's just a little more angry than me. He's a real serious, you know, I'm like, I kind of like that fire I see inside. You love his Travis Matthew. I do. I love his hats. I love his style. So toy, just know, regardless of what Stugots says, I'm not mad at you, bro. You kiss an ass, right? Just tell us what happened. Yeah, give to you from your side of things. This is not something you are music did. No, absolutely not. No. Okay. So here's first of all, I had no idea this was going down on Friday or Saturday or Sunday or yesterday. We'll tell you yesterday. Okay. So on Thursday afternoon, we got a text from page page with the the booker that FS1 hired for the week to go and kind of man things from on site that week. Yeah. So she said if the text group text to me in a couple of the producers on the TV side said, Hey, would you guys be interested in in for the end of the middle tomorrow? She said around 945 10 o'clock. We said sure whenever he's available would love to take him whenever he's available. I knew and I told Danny D to serve when I talked to had him booked. I saw a post, a social post, a one I think it was Wednesday or Thursday. You guys were having him on Friday. I knew he was going on your show Friday at some point. I didn't know what time, but I assumed you guys were taking him. But at no point did I did I state to her or anybody states to her. Hey, you had to take Mendoza and put him on our show and take him off there. I don't care what you have to do. Okay. That did that did not happen 100%. All we said was we would love to have him whenever he's available. And that was the last thing we heard from her until later Thursday. She said, Mendoza is good for 10 o'clock. I'll be honest. You know what my takeaway is? Who's this page person? She's off my Christmas card. I'm saying, who's this page person? Let's hire her because she did everything she could. She said, F you coming on, Rich? Collin? He collin hired her to freelance what you guys. I got to applaud her now. I don't honestly know for risk. I don't think it was her. I don't think it was her. Now again, do I know that for sure? I do not know that for sure. But I will tell you this. I think that somewhere along the lines, the baby was the rep. Maybe that it was the rep decision. We don't know. I get it. But we're thinking is you guys are the one I get it. We're going to if we're going to get them on Fox Sports. We're going to see them on TV and Collins show. Forget these Kavino and Rich characters. I mean, at these events like this, you're always at the mercy of the rep, right? And I have a hard time believing the page would have ever done so like that. And I'm almost I'm almost I'm going to say 100% promise you did not do that because there's no way someone like that would have done something that without running it by any of us first. Hey guys, here's the deal. You can have that 10. But that means Kavino Rich can't have them. Like that would not that's not something she would have done. Well, too, sorry. You got dragged into this man. Like Fernando Gates, a big deal, I guess. They've been talking about for for the past two days. Apparently they are and you won't stop talking about it. So, you know, all right. Well, hey, man, thanks for hitting the stop for making time and show us your side of a side of the story. It's too. Who do you guys have booked next week on the show on the herd? Anyone? You want to swipe? Well, hey, Tilly, thank you, brother. Gary. Appreciate you. You guys. Page the woman I was calling a thief every time I walked by their table. Perhaps the tell how we said, hi, what's up? I think it's just pretty simple. And I just I'm just going to ask Greg. Greg, are you a loser or a winner in this situation? What like what would you think that you are in this situation? I'm a winner. There it is. I'm a winner. He's a winner. I'm a winner. By the way, I also have Greg's pick to win the AFC North next year. The bangles. There it is. There it is. Thank you, buddy. Thanks to you. I listen, Kevin, order it. Having some fun. Again, Stugat's already stirring the pot. I said, I love it. It's awkward burgers, man. I live in I love that I live in an ass space served. Now, it's called like, where are these guys talking about? Yeah. This is the kind of drama we needed after that Super Bowl. Yeah. No, we had a great time. You can see all the pictures. You could see the videos, everything at Covino Enrich on social media and on our YouTube page. And you know what? The energy has exclusive footage behind the velvet rope of what we had to win. Yeah. I sent it to spotty. He'll have it on the chat. He has the footage that we were subjective watching. Like you said, Rich, is kind of like watching your girl with another dude and you have to sit there and just, man, I'm not using that. That's what it is. Deal with it. But we'll make sure you guys get to see that. And speaking of drama, he's got it up there right now. And at YouTube channel. Oh, the YouTube channel spots got it up right there. That's what we had to watch. Right there. And speaking of at Covino Enrich, the clip we posted from yesterday show, oh my goodness. Has gone like mildly viral because you said yesterday, Rich, that you didn't think people were making this political. I was so wrong. You were so wrong. I was as Fonsey said back in the day. What did you say? Wrong. I was wrong because I said, you know what? I don't know if anyone's really mad about bad bunny. I think it's like a bunch of fake rage on social media are post about bad bunny, which was down the middle sort of, hey, wasn't political. Like a business thing. Business decision by the NFL. Hey, it doesn't speak English. Maybe it's not for you. We took a pretty like, hey, it is what it is approach. Man, the, uh, the opinions were kind of gross to be honest. So a thought on, and by the way, let me make some clear. It's not that the fact you can't have an opinion. Of course you can. It's that you're willing to like cross lines and own it. It's like, I see your profile picture with your beautiful family and you have no care in the world to say all this negative and mean stuff on, on a public platform on social media. That's crazy. That's craziness to me. Well, there's a relax. Get a grip. There is a deep thought I have about this bad bunny thing. So we'll touch on half time next. Plus we'll talk some NBA fights. Uh, we got Tyson trivia. So a lot to get to on an action pack, Kevin on Rich Tuesday. Have you ever wiped with a piece of dry single ply toilet paper and wondered, what do you ask of me? Is this as good as a guess? Well, it's not. It gets a lot better thanks to wet, extra large cleaning power of dude wipes. Oh, dude, why let me say extra large. We mean business. Um, so no matter what the size of your mess from top to bottom, jeez, uh, dudes has you covered for a confident clean. They're comfortable, uh, they comfortably clean up whatever T P leaves behind. No more maintenance wipes. Debris, no way irritation, not a chance. Time to make the trade trade of the season and switch from T P to wet, extra large dude wipes and start experiencing the confident clean of dude wipes made from 100% plant based natural fibers coming in a variety of sense and sensations like mint chill like our buddy, Drew Mac always uses them. And I'm like, man, you smell, you smell minty fresh. What is that? And years ago, he was like, dude wipes and man, it works works to protect your end. So what sense is calling you since you were just kissing his ass. Shasha, but yeah, he has a little hint of Shasha joined the movement for cleaner movements and a skid free life. You've been really hoping for that. I know, uh, available Amazon and major retailers nationwide. Dude wipes best clean pants down. Okay. No. Colin swiping Fernando just keeps me hungry. And as the Snyder said, on this classic album, stay hungry. And by the way, health is wealth, send the good vibes to De Snyder. He had to cancel his 50th anniversary reunion tour. I thought you were going to send well wishes to my dude Francisco Lindor who looks like he's going to miss opening day a little tweaked up already heard about that man. I heard. I heard. So you know, and Rich, perhaps you heard about us 162 games. I'm not worried about it. No, no, not yet. But we do have meaningful baseball in March. And I heard Lindor wasn't playing anyway. Yeah. So I'm ready for the WBC. And ready to get into your phone calls at 877 99 on Fox and Kavino and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio studio facing a peak season, looking for a new team member workforce solutions from Express employment pros makes hiring easier. We got some iron Mike trivia, some multiple choice trivia. So stand by for that. We got to talk some Olympics and more football talk more super ball time. I said I had a thought about the Super ball half time show to sort of just put a little bow on this football season. Right. We've seen it. We watched it all every week, every game. You were spending time in the witching hour with Hansen. I had five TVs going. We watched the full season of football. Rich was just listening to Hansen, which is totally different. Now you watch Scott Hansen. Rich rocks out the hand. I just listened to Oomba and Dan buyer. Congratulations. Get to him and all the Seahawks fans. Wesson Vegas and all our other pals. Joel McHale. Who else? Chris Pratt. Rain Wilson. Congrats again. Dan buyer on your Seahawks. Now half time. People love to hate or love or make a big deal about the Super ball half time show. Oh my god. That money got the world in a tizzy. Man, the feedback we got from our clip posted at Covino in rich yesterday, especially on Facebook. People are vicious. It's usually X. We're people are the most vicious, but yesterday. We politics Facebook. You know what? I think X is still the worst. Oh, X is definitely worse. Well, the feedback we got and we're pretty down the middle on it. Again, keep in mind, Covino here. And you may see me as a half breed Latino. I don't know. I don't care, to be honest, but I'm a rock fan. I'm a Metallica guy. I would have preferred to see Metallica. My expectations were low for bad money. I'm not a bad bunny fan. However, the amount of pride he brought to that performance, the fun. How could you not witness and at least appreciate the culture? You know, you could say something. It wasn't political. It was cultural. It was business for the NFL. You could simply say it wasn't for me. I didn't like it, but you know, not every barrier like we said, we understand not everything for you. We've talked about this before where like baseball, for instance, when they speed up the game and make different changes, what an old timer say. Yeah, I love baseball the way you used to be. It's like, well, you're going to die soon. So we're so mad. Rich people as a society need to lighten up and relax. You know, honestly, you know, old boomers, I baseball, I remember Roger Maris. Hey, you got like, you're on a ticking time clock. Time's almost over for you. They're trying to get the young fans. So it's not always for you. And international fans, you know how many people I had to convince that it's an international play. There were people leaving comments like, dude, that's a reach. Like it's a reach. They got nine international game scheduled next year. And you got to think just to be getting up. That's the goal here. International. There's a sense that once the schedule goes to 18 games, what you will, small time thinking, bro, every team will get two buy weeks. And they'll be an opportunity bet at one point where every team plays one international one international game. It's going to happen in the next decade. Every team will probably play one international game. They'll be two buy weeks. And the game is global. Now, you know, you brought up an interesting thought about one of your favorites, uh, Pavarotti. No, I just find it interesting. Everyone's talking about the language barrier and I totally get that. I get it. You know, what I did recently with Rich at a jingle ball. I watched a K-pop band and enjoyed it from start to finish. I didn't understand a single word they said, but I can appreciate the artistry and the performance. You think I speak that? I do not. So when people complain about that, I'm like, have you never seen Pavarotti perform or not? Perseverance. You speak Italian. Are you having problems with that? How about Gangnam style? You weren't dancing to Si when that came out. You don't feel the fun in the vibe when he's dancing around. You know, if you're a rock guy, you never listen to Ramstein or you have a problem with it. What's the problem? I just, people just want to complain. That's the problem. Not everything's for you. Just they make it political when it's business is cultural and it's business. And I think people are really lame and small-minded for not seeing past that. I really do. That's my honest opinion. I'm not hating anybody. I'm not mad at it. But the feedback we got was ridiculous. With that said, you're allowed to say, I didn't like it. I only knew one bad bunny song and I was like, all right, you know, he's put on performance, not for me. My expectations were low. Rich. So I was pleasantly surprised. I looked at his Ricky Martin. I looked at his Gaga. All right. Now back to the game. I think people like, you know, were wildly overreactive. Damn, Byron, you were there in the sugar cane. I was not. That's a false. That's a lie. What's going on? I don't know. Man, it hurts to God say it. So it's gotta be true. Let's bring in Greg Tuy. Let's get this on the man. Okay. Okay. TV, when you were there at the stadium, I heard that there was, let's be honest, there were a lot of white people that were like, what's going on? But I heard there was, I heard Rich Eisen say that the crowd. There were a lot of Latino fans that were going bananas. A little mixed review. And that, that could be. I have felt specifically with these last two half time shows. Now I've been, I've been to every Super Bowl except two since Super Bowl 40. So and that was around the time where they started to make the change. The, the Nipple Gate was Super Bowl 38. Oh, people forget. Not only was he the sugar cane this year, he was one of the sharks with Katy Perry. I don't know if you're right. I was I was a sure if that was true, but it's fun. He was backpack kid that did the floss. So many different roles. I'm multifaceted. The event is made for TV. Yeah. And so it just does not translate in the stadium. It's different when you have a band because it's like a live concert sort of feel. So when we had those strings of, of the who and Prince and Tom Petty and the heartbreakers, like there's it just it felt like a concert a half time. Yeah. A 15 minute concert versus a 15 minutes like performance. Yes. And that's what this is. So it doesn't translate into the stadium as much as you would want to get a sense of it. Like last year, the Kendrick Lamar didn't translate when I was there. And then you watch the thing and you're like, wow, that's crazy. I've got to see this. But that's truly what it's like when you're at the stadium. We're a very, very small, small portion when you're at the game to be able to take in what the performance is. So I don't think we're necessarily a fair. You can't really accommodate 50,000 people when 150 million people are watching. Yes. Yes. Well, you know, now that we got the B, let's get an update. And then I have a thought about the half time show to wrap this all up. What's up, D. Yeah, you mentioned, Matt shortstop Francisco Lendor main need surgery to repair that fracture in his wrist six weeks could be ready for opening day. David Sterns did say that one soda is going to play left field instead of right field for the meds coming up in 2026. You know, it's funny. They'd be the meds emphasis on defense and analytics. They have three guys in the starting lineup that are going to be playing new positions. So so much so much for that. I have a new in New York, Matt. There it is. The Detroit Tigers are bringing back Justin Verlander on a one year deal. The soon to be 43 year old spent the first 13 years of his career in Motown at the Olympics, US women's hockey team. Blink Canada today, five nothing in the preliminary round, while men's figure skating, American Ilya Malinan is in first place after the short program. It's a silver medal for mixed doubles curling pair Corey T.C. and Corey dropkin is the US fell to Sweden in that gold medal match a six to five. LeBron James is out tonight for the Lakers as is Luca Donchitch, Austin Reeves and Marcus Smart. They will face the San Antonio Spurs, Raptors forward brand and Ingram replacing Warriors guard Steph Curry for this weekend's all star game. Patriots head coach Mike Brable told reporters they planted keeping Will Campbell at left left tackle entering the 2026 season. Rams tackle Rob Havenstein is retiring after 11 seasons and Clint Cubiak is the new head coach of the Raiders. Ask today about Max Crossby's future in Las Vegas. You've spoken to Max Crossby and a see a guy you could see anchoring your defense here for years to come. I did. I got to drink cup of coffee with Max this morning. I love talking ball with him and look forward to continuing those conversations. I think he was the first one in here. There's more in working out so I fired me up. That's for Danny G and for iOS Sam, the Detroit Bowl has come to an end after 29 seasons. It will not be played again. Goodbye to the Motor City Bowl, Mike McLean Bowl. Mine at the Carc here. No, no, no, you're right. It was little Caesars pizza bowl. It was little Caesars for a while. What was it? What was the other one? Quick lane McLean Bowl. Yeah. Well, good things come to an end. I would say I'm usually a Mac team in there. Two two thoughts DB Max Crossby. Our buddy Jason Fitz. I think sort of broke a story on Yahoo where it looked like he was leaving. But now it looks like there's a possibility that Max Crossby stays so far. So far. One day in the Clint Cubiak era. And I know he's not who he was. But when you say the Detroit Tigers have a pretty good rotation. If you look at scoobal valdez Verlander. That's it. That's a pretty in a world where pitching is pretty dicey on most teams. Pretty good starting rotation for Detroit. So good things for you, Tigers fans. All right. We got more Cubiak on a rich. We'll talk a little bed bunny. Just one more final thought. We'll talk some fights and I have an Olympic hypothetical for you. Oh boy. So we'll do that all next right here. Fox Sports Radio. Ready to tackle your financial goals with we bowl. I don't understand and take it off. We have alternate programming for Si because I don't understand his words. I can't translate the fun he's having right now. My kid will lie. This song Gangnam style. There's our video guy spot over there. What's up, spotty? Bang or bro. Spots wedding. I don't know if I was drunk or high or whatever. Both I think. I don't know if I've ever had a more joyous moment in my life. I've been like the birth of my children. When this song came on at spots wedding, me and Kavino ran to the dance floor like, yeah, man, that's the best time I ever had. That's when you put spot on your shoulders. I you know what? I in my mind, I'm going to think I did. Yeah. No, and we put them in a chair and start hoisting them. That was spot. And you wedding was that moment just not for some reason, like memorable? You got to release the footage one day. I feel like it was only the three of us. Is there footage? The whole day it's for clear. It was just the three of us. No, no, skim a crab. And we're all stuck. I was like, are these guys high drunk or both? What are these guys? HIT right at the same time, which is rare. It's like lightning in a bottle. I don't get out of the dance floor. I really don't. Anyway, I don't like it because he's not speak in English. Live from the Fox Sports Radio studio, it's time for a tie rack play of the day. It's Kavino and Rich and the pistons and the hornets were throwing punches last night. He got heated. Are you back down on Diabate and a whistle? They're going out. Diabate is sweet. Boy, Diabate is, he's facing suspension here. There is no question about it. And now Bridges throws a punch. Now Stu just came out. Oh man, it's a bounty group. There they go. After review, fighting fouls have been assessed at a falling players. Diabate and Bridges from Charlotte and Durin and Stuart from Detroit. Those four players have been deducted from the game. Damn, every time I hear Diabate, I think of Gary Delabate. Buh for Fui. Buh, buuh. We saw a radio row Super Bowl and it was great to see him. Diabate found by Durin. It got ugly last night. He did, man. A club ball of 971. The ticket pistons ready on network. And that was our tie rack play the day for over 40 years. You know, tire racks when hooking you up. Fire in the right tires or how, what and where you drive, ship fast and free back by free road desert protection with convenient installation options, like mobile tire installation, tire rack.com. The way tire buying should be. Now one last half time though, and we move on. And I want to talk about the origin of alternate half time programming. Because a lot of times people are like, what a kid rock even have a show? Millions of people watched. Yes. 6.1 million tuned in. And you know, he has the number one hit on iTunes today. He added a verse to a Cody Johnson song till you can't. And it's now number one. So, I mean, he did his thing whether you like it or not. I mean, listen, people have had alternate half time shows with mild success. I mean, you talk about a few million people, which is still big versus a hundred and practically 50 million people. But it all goes back to the 90s. 92. In fact, in the main color. Oh, Sam, hit me up with one of my favorite sketch comedy shows of all time. Before 93. Before 93. The half time show meant Didley Squire. It was a bathroom break. And it was glorious step on and like winter theme. People juggling. Yeah. So, when on a unicycle, like no one cared. And Ken and I every way and saw opportunity to capitalize on the millions of people that were tuned into the Super Bowl. So he said, Hey, join us on Fox, which was a new network at the time. Join us for the half hour. We'll have Jim Carrey counted down. You won't miss the game. Join us for an in living color live special alternate programming. And you know what? They got so many people tuned into Fox that the very next year NFL booked Michael Jackson and the rest of his history. Yeah, the rest is history and never looked at it. And I let them even had a little countdown. That a little countdown clock when the game starts again. So we all have in living color to thank for all these big Super Bowl halftime shows we have today. Ta-da. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.
