The Ringer Fantasy Football Show covers the NFC and AFC Championship games, analyzing Seahawks vs. Rams and Patriots vs. Broncos matchups. The hosts debate Sam Darnold's consistency against the Rams, Jared Stidham's unexpected playoff start, and discuss recent NFL coaching hires and organizational drama, including the Bills owner's contentious press conference.
Insights
- Sam Darnold's historical struggles against the Rams (7 INTs, 16 sacks in last 3 games) create a significant psychological and tactical challenge despite the Seahawks' elite defense ranking fifth all-time in DVOA
- Backup quarterback situations can be won with proper game planning and defensive strength, but rust from extended time off (Stidham hasn't started since January 2024) presents real execution risk in high-pressure playoff games
- Owner involvement in personnel decisions and public blame-shifting (Bills owner's press conference) undermines organizational credibility and creates media narratives that distract from on-field performance
- Home field advantage and special teams excellence (Seahawks' Rashid Shaheed, strong kicking game) can be decisive factors in evenly-matched playoff contests between quality teams
- Coaching staff harmony between owner, GM, and head coach is foundational to sustained success; dysfunction at this level historically precedes organizational decline

Welcome to the Ringer Fantasy football show. My name is Danny Hype. And today I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Coral back and we are going over the conference championship games. And also maybe some coaching is some core Brian Dable and Mike McDaniel are openly just using offensive coordinator jobs as like I don't know. Holding teams hostage and just like being like, I'll come but maybe I won't we'll get it all that later. The bills owner did a press conference that calmed everyone down right DK. Everyone feels way better after the bills owner spoke for the first time in six years. So that's solved. That was a disaster. It rarely gets better when the owner speaks. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, I mean, it's it's usually it doesn't get better. But the bills owner, I think he's everything is better. He crushed it. Yeah, great job. Reminder for everyone. We go all playoffs through the Super Bowl after the Super Bowl trades for agency and the draft Danny Kelly's draft God coming out next week. We're going to start with a full tilt on the draft starting next week and beyond. So stick with us through the playoffs through the Super Bowl through the off season and everything. Yeah, DK initially has Fernando Mendoza fourth rounder, which is crazy, crazy hot. Yeah, but we'll get into that in a couple weeks. Exactly. We have to start here and if see championship game Rams are at the Seahawks, CX or two and a half point favorites at home to win the game DK. Big games big game. We're going to learn a lot this. This isn't a big game. We're going to learn. You just wait until the Super. We're going to learn a lot then. We're going to learn good about now and we are going to learn everything we need to know to prepare for 2026 and it fell season in the Super Bowl. Must win game. Must win game. Yes, when are go home, I would say probably DK. How confident are you that Sam Darnold will not go full CJ Stroud? This is the only thing I want to talk about in this game. How confident am I? I'm not very confident. So I was I thought you were going to ask me how confident I am. The CX are going to win and I and I looked up this stat today. I saw this one after a week. It was like 16 or 17 they played and it was a crazy ass game. The Seahawks this year and two games against the Rams. The Rams have one more point and one more yard total. So one yard and one point separates the two games. These team teams played this week this year. And I mean, it's crazy too because both of the games were kind of like polar opposites. The first game the Seahawks shut down the Rams offense. This is the second game. The Rams offense had the highest yardage and point total of the year. They had like 500 something yards of offense in that game. I'll do you one further DK. I think this came from the goat Bill Barnwell. In their all time history against each other, the Seahawks and Rams are 29 and 28 against one another. The Seahawks have the slight edge there 29 and 28 and Seattle has scored 1,223 yards in those games. L.A. has scored 1,222 yards. One yards points. Points are yards. Sorry points. Damn it. One point. One point difference in the entire history. They are 29 and 28 and the Seahawks have scored one more point than the Rams. See, that's so good. That's so perfect. And I was on Bill show the other day. Bill soon will show you can black. And he asked me if Siahawks fans hate the Rams. And I was like, not really that's not the right word. I think there's a grudging respect between the two teams. Because going back as long as I can remember watching the Seahawks or at least when they were in the same division, the Rams have always given the Seahawks trouble. Even when the Rams were one of the worst teams in the NFL, they were winning like two games a year. And when they were in St. Louis, they were still taking the Seahawks down to the final minute of every game. It was so frustrating. So these teams just have a history of going toe to toe. It always feels like a heavyweight bout every time they play. And it's never the same type of game either, which is kind of what I was getting at before. Like the two games that they played this year were totally different stylistically. And so, man, I don't know what to expect. I honestly don't know what to expect. I'm feeling good about the Seahawks. I feel as good about the Seahawks as I have all year and as I possibly could right now. But I'm also, I fear the Rams. I think they're a great coach team with a really good quarterback. And a, you know, a lot of good defense. A defense I can get after the quarterback and really has gotten into Sam Darnel's head in the last couple of games they played. So this is just going to be a crazy game. I honestly don't know what to expect. And it still hasn't sunk into me. That if the Seahawks win, they're going to the Super Bowl. Like that has not sunk in. Are you excited? I was going to say no. I don't know. Like you sunk in. It has not sunk in. I've been so busy doing draft guide stuff that I haven't really thought about the game or I've been able to sit down and like really stew on this game quite yet. I'll probably do that on Saturday. But it's just crazy that, you know, the last time this happened was 2014. The Seahawks beat the Packers in the NSC championship game. One of the craziest games I've ever seen. And they went to the Super Bowl. Obviously the Super Bowl was super depressing. Yeah, it's been, it's been a while since I've been in this position as a fan. So it's, it's really exciting. But I'm also, it just hasn't sunk in for me yet. So Ram Seahawks, this is the third time they're playing this season. The first game, the Rams won and Sam Darnold through four receptions. The second game, the Seahawks won 16 point comeback. Maybe like the best Thursday football game ever. And that was the one with Rashid Shaheed. Shaheed. I rewatched and I think I forgot that that was actually he was already in the end zone when that happened. So I thought it was like the five yard line. The producer was in Al's ear like, Al, he literally scored. He scored. He got to say something. He's like lying down in the end zone. He said he yielded the punt when Rashid Shaheed was like at the 10 yard line. He was talking about a game from 20 years ago. What do you feel to the punt? This was this actually our two point conversion game to that one. But if I keep including, I think it has to be included. If you go back like 53 weeks, the Sam Darnold Vikings melt down that ended up being giving the Vikings the confidence to let him go to Seattle, which was also against the Rams in the playoffs. Or maybe that was the wild cut round. Sorry, that was definitely the wild cut round. But so 54 weeks. But if you include that, so Darnold's less three games versus the Rams, he has a grand total of three touchdown passes, seven interceptions and 13 sacks for in his in Darnold's less three games versus the Rams. I think that term, Kryptonite is probably overused, especially because I don't think anyone cares about the Super Band for Kragon ice age. But this is like a real like he is powerless against this one team. So again, DK, you pretty definitely completely and utterly skirted by question earlier. But I will ask you again, how confident are you that Sam Darnold will not go full CJ Stroud? I said I'm not confident. Okay, fine. Fine. Are you and you're not confident in Darnold and yet you're confident the sea ox are going to win the game? I feel as good about the CF defense. I guess I should find. Yeah, let me rephrase, who are you more confident? Will not lose the game for their team? Sam Darnold or Jared Stidham? I mean, I feel better about Sam Darnold than Jared Stidham. Okay. You got to give him that much. But I mean, what your point is very correct that it's been, he's the Rams have been sort of the big bad for Darnold the last two years. And it's very scary that this is a tour die game to go to Super Bowl and Sam Darnold has that history. I will say at the end of the last game between these two teams, Darnold did kind of get the monkey off his back a little bit. He had a really good fourth quarter and a really good overtime period. He made some incredible. It was, it was over time. He kind of blew it in the fourth quarter. Well, whatever happened, he had two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, I believe. Yeah, but he also, sorry, any of two interceptions to the fourth quarter too. I was like, I don't know. I was looking back and I was like, man, he got the order in which it happened. Was he ended up doing well at the end? Is all right? He won the game. Yeah, he won the fucking game. He's like normal way. Stop. Super normal. I mean, obviously, we don't pick up a two point version. What are you trying to get out of the exactly? I feel like I've already answered your question. We're buttering you up to make you take the Rams and bring her 107 at the end of the end of the session. Don't. Yeah. Do you guys think the bird's eye view, the like kind of general fans opinion on this game is that the C-Ox or the better team should win? I feel like DK disagrees with this, but I've kind of been saying this the last few weeks that even though Sam Donald led the NFL in turnovers this year, to me as a non-Seoc fan who has not been watching every Seahawks snap religiously, it doesn't feel like Sam Donald led the league in turnovers this year because they're 15 and 3 because they kick the shit out of everybody and they're a dominant team. So to me, I think going in a lot of people are going to be like, oh, the Seahawks just kick the shit out of the Niners. They've been playing fantastic. Their defense looks unstoppable. And the Rams just look super shaky against Chicago and they barely win that game. Yeah. The Seahawks are going to win. And to me, I'm much more nervous about this game and I know that the Seattle defense is obviously the best unit on the field. However, it's like I zoom out for a brief moment. And I'm like, if I just talk to some of, you know, a dad flew in and is sitting down to watch football for the first time this year and I described to him the situation. I'm like, Sam Donald and Mike McDonald on the NFC championship versus Matt Stafford who's probably going to win the MVP and Sean McVay who have already won a Super Bowl. Who do you trust more? By the way, the last four games, uh, Sam Donald is playing against the Rams. You have seven picks and 16 sacks. Who do you feel good about? To me, I'm like, God, I'm terrified of Sam Donald in this game. Yeah. All right. This is so, yeah, the what comes to my mind when you're talking about that is like, my first defense of the Seahawks would be like, they have an awesome defense or defense is sick. Yeah. But the two games that the Rams have played the Seahawks this year, they've averaged 29 points. So these are the old, this is the only offense that they've really kind of sucked against. So the Rams had over like 500 yards of offense and that crazy game in Seattle. See, I don't see any of this. That's really half the yards they've ever had against Seahawks in their whole history, right? That's right. I think, I think the bottom line is that everything we kind of said and led up to this is like, this is going to be an amazing game. I truly don't know which way I lean on this game. I picked before the playoffs started. I picked the Rams go to Super Bowl just because I thought they were kind of the red herring of the NFL. They lost late in the season and kind of fell off. But they were still one of the best teams. They had the MVP quarterback or one of the top MVP candidates in Met Stafford. They got Sean McVeigh. They've done this before. They're Super Bowl champions with this nucleus. So I just kind of thought they were being overlooked. But now when this is, this game is really happening, it's just a true toss up again. I do feel pretty good about the Seahawks. The way that the CX are playing right now, the confidence that they have, the just the absolute ass kickings that they gave to 49ers the last two games. I feel like they're going to be really riding high. And then, and then, conversely, the Rams have been kind of, you know, they've been beat up. They had to play that really tough game in Chicago. And they just haven't been as sharp, I think, as they were for the most of the rest of the season over their last couple of games. So I think that kind of leads me to think the Seahawks might be able to pull this one out plus they're at home. It's what I'm saying. I do think that things are leading you towards picking the Seahawks. The Rams haven't looked good in like a month. Right. They've been. Seahawks have been kind of leading people. I mean, they almost lost to the Panthers. They had to create a miracle come back to meet the Panthers. They had a crazy game against Chicago. Stafford's fingers hurt. All this stuff. My fingers hurt. And yet, I don't know, I get really nervous. You know, this is like the Bill Simmons Playoff Manifesto type stuff, where I'm like, on Monday morning, am I going to wake up and be like, of course, I should have chosen Matt Stafford over San Donald. Like Matt St. Arnold led the league and turnovers this year. Matt Stafford, through for 46 touchdowns and only had eight picks, he had 11 turnovers on 627 dropbacks this year. Stafford was really, really, really good this year. And the Seahawks, by the way, haven't really been able to pressure Stafford in the two games that they played him this year. They, I want to say they have zero sacks or one sack against Stafford all year. And that worries me because that's kind of the big part of Seahawks thing is that they are incredible at getting pressure, getting sacks without blitzing. So it's like from a chess point of view, in terms of the chess match between McVeigh and McDonald, I think it's going to be really fun to see kind of how they change things up. Like I said, both games are totally different. What are they going to do to try and get more pressure on Stafford in this game? Are they going to like bring a really blitz heavy something to the table? I don't know. It's just going to be a lot of fun to see kind of how this game plays out. Where is St. Arnold's oblique at right now? Is it good? I think it's fine. St. Arnold's oblique, I don't know, but you guys, if I watched last week's game of the Niners Seahawks game and I didn't know about St. Arnold's oblique, it would not have occurred to me that his oblique was hurt. I mean, he played like two meaningful quarters and through like 16 passes. I'm, but, but the passes he threw were pretty incredible. I'm not worried about that. Oh, I know that's funny. To me, that matters. I'm like oblique injuries don't go away. Those are pretty serious injuries. And it's been like eight days since he last heard it. He didn't throw the ball for. He's going to be on a lot of drugs. I'm not really concerned. I mean, the fact that he had that Jackson, Smith and Jig with Role rolling left to the end zone with the amount of hefty put on it. I'm kind of like that's the exact kind of thing. Like the torque you need across your midsection. I don't know. I'm not going to pretend to know about injuries and just assume he's healed. But I'm like, if he was hurt enough to not throw a pass for two days, feel like that's not the same thing. You just say the same thing. No, we about staffer too, right? Like his after he heard his finger. How about staffer's back? He had an air stream for three weeks in a parking lot. Then he's played all every game and he's going to win a VP. I'm not really worried. I don't know. Well, I watched him play 18 straight games and look great. Sam Donald through 16 passes. What I think, yeah, I get what you're saying. I don't know. I think, Craig, I hear what you're saying about the whole like, oh, if I pick the sea ox and the rims win and feel dumb taking Donald over staffer, sure. If the sea ox fucking obliterate the rims, you're going to be like, oh, so this is one of the best defenses ever. And I did pick them even though the ultimate playoff rule is defense wins championships in every sport. And the sea ox are like a borderline historic defense. I mean, the other stats that's been going around. I mean, so what one, Dante Coppola is flimming had this that Matt Stafford led the NFL in passing yards. The sea ox allowed the fewest points in the NFL. And then in the last 50 years, the player who led the league in passing yards is 0 and 6 in the playoffs versus the number one score defense. And one of those, of course, was to see. Oax Broncos Super Bowl where the Legion of Boom went against the paint manning offense that broke every record in the game. Did they win that Super Bowl? I don't remember. I don't know what the six of, yeah, maybe the six of us. Super Bowl. I don't know who he is. 43 to eight. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Right. I think that was a final score. It was an ass kicking it. You're right. I mean, you're right. I mean, it's the defense. I understand defense when she had the chips things. But usually, you know, look at like the Eagles last year, right? Fantastic defense. But their quarterback was Jalen Hertz who his entire person is built around not turning over the football. And we've seen teams like Houston, who has a fantastic defense when you have guys like CJ Stroud, they lose. So what are you saying here? Are you saying, Donald does feel like he left the league in turn over? So it doesn't because at one hand, you're saying you don't feel like you're worried about it. And that you're like, what if he pulls a strap? So I'm saying now that we're in the playoffs. And I'm looking back and going, holy shit, I didn't really realize that Donald had led the league in turnovers this entire season because the C-OX were winning these games. I'm now nervous against a team in the Rams, who we can all agree are the second best team in the NFL that relying on a guy who led the league in turnovers is a little nerve wrecking to me as all. Especially if the C-OX just lost one of their reliable running backs in Zack Sharland. True. I do think that overall, that matters a lot. The Sharland injury, I think the Rams are going to blitz the C-OX a lot. And I think that the Sharland injury matters because Ken Walker is like this boom bust runner. And I mean, Ken Walker has a lot of like, you know, to get stuff, but he also has big plays. The second Rams C-OX game this year, honestly, the first three quarters basically was just all the C-OX yards, which is Ken Walker explosive plays and just big crazy plays that he was creating. But he has a lot of home runs and strikeouts. Zack Sharland is the on base guys. Zack Sharland is the one getting grinding out the four yard carries and keeping the offense on schedule. And so I think when Zack Sharland is out, Ken Walker is going to get the most of the of the rushing workload. So now the run game's a little more home run hitting strikeouts. But the passing game is kind of also a boom bust. So now the C-OX offense can tend to be more boom bust. And I just feel like the Rams are going to blitz a lot. I feel like Cam Curl the safety is going to be almost what Jacquan Briskour and that Bears game was to the Rams, where you saw like Jacquan Briskour and that Bears game against the Rams. He was like that one drive. He had like a huge, huge play to blow up a run in the back field. Then the next play to Zack and then on third long get a pass break up. I think that's actually going to be like Cam Curl in this game where he's going to be everywhere and just kind of in the box and they're going to be trying to get Darnell into like these second and thirded longs. And then like trying to I think they're going to blitz the shit out of them because they I think the Rams haven't really blitzed Darnell in any of these past three games that they played versus him. But I think they're going to want Darnell making a lot of quick decisions and they're going to trade getting gash sometimes for they just kind of want to I think they're just going to want Darnell to throw a couple picks and really making his stake early and get in his head. I do think Darnell's like I can't remember a game where a quarterbacks like mental resiliency felt like such a part of the equation where like Darnell's the scene ghost guy and ironically if the CX win this game he might get to play the Patriots which was the scene ghost game. But Darnell's ability to make him stake early in this game and move on. I can't remember the last time it felt so important to a game. Yeah when the Rams were able to pressure Darnell this year he had a 50% completion rate one touchdown and four picks. Yeah and the overall turnover margin in the two games that they played is seven to one. So the CX seven turnovers in the Rams only one turnovers. What? A testament to Seattle's defense that both those games are so great. This right now. Well at the defense we have the CX defense is the reason I am good at pushing to take them also because DK's the CX fan and I kind of refused to root against the CX or DK's sake. It would be funny though. It would be funny. It would be funny. I mean just don't talk to me. I'm not talking to you. I mean just get through this. So first we just so Aaron Schatz does this stack called DVOA which we talk about but just to remind her what DVOA is which is it's like context adjusted performance. So it's like his 10 yards on a play good. Well 10 yards is great on third and 10 and 10 yards is pretty shitty on third and 20 and then if you do that versus the Jats it's not really as impressive as doing it versus the Texans. That's kind of all DVOA is it's taking all these stats and talk about into a context. So with DVOA which is really really uh matches the eye test. The best scoring teams by DVO the best teams in the history of the DVOA stat are the 1991 Washington team. The 2007 Patriots that went you know 18 and 1. The 85 bears. The 1989 49ers and then fifth on the list is this year's Seattle Seahawks. They're somehow higher than the Frick and Seahawks who beat Peyton Manning in 2013. The like one of the greatest defenses I've ever seen in my life. There's somehow better in DVOA than that team. And this is the other thing that I was going to bring up. By the way, this is I saw this from Aaron Chatzu. This is the best game of all time in the playoffs. Inquarting to the DVOA matchup. This is two of the top 10 teams in DVOA history. I don't know because that's Steelers that's Steelers Texans game. Yeah that was real football. This and I do feel like it's been building to this for the last two months. Right? Like we've been talking about this for a while. I will say that the other the couple of things I wanted to add to the to the mix here. That kind of again sort of push me in the Seahawks direction a little bit. Even though I'm very wary of doing this is number one. It's playing in Seattle the Seahawks atmosphere in Lumenfield to formerly century link. It feels like it's back. I talked to a couple of people that were at that game last week against 49ers. And the vibes are just out of control. Good you taught you you hear people talking about how loud it is in there. It's not been the case really for the past six seven years that that's been a good home field advantage. In fact they they haven't really had a very strong home field advantage there. But it does feel like that is back. That's like a big variable here. The the crowd noise. It's going to be very hard to communicate for the Rams. There was this funny video going around this week where Matt Stafford was trying to give a play call to the offense and Sean McVeigh's just like in his ear for like 10 or 15 straights. I did these like he's still talking. He's still talking. He's like oh my god shut up. I got it. I got it. So that's going to be a variable potentially here is they're going to have to go to like silent counts and things like that. The communication between Stafford and McVeigh is going to be affected. Theoretically obviously they're veteran coach and quarterback. They've been together a long time. Probably not going to be like a huge devastating factor. But I do think it is something to talk about. The other big thing and this goes along with the home field advantage. Special teams have been such a detriment for the Rams. The C-OX are one of the best special teams teams in the NFL. You'll Rashid Shaheed has been a massive massive X factor for him. The C-OX Subscribe to Leigh Khy. This is from Rich Rebar. Five touchdowns on special teams this year. Let's miss the kick in that second game. That's why the game went to overtime. So Rams missed a field goal for the E-Yards. Right. And they gave a return touchdown. So they're in their top three in kickoff return yardage and punt return yardage. So the C-OX got the Rams special teams coordinator fired after their last game. So that's a big variable here. And I think this is one of the things you talk about the C-OX all year long. They're just very good in all three phases. Offensively they scored time points. Defensively they're one of the best units we've seen in a long time. Maybe history and special teams. They're very good on special teams. Their pointer is very good. Their kicker has been very reliable for the most part. So yeah, God. Again, I don't know where to go with this this game. It's going to be awesome. I do slightly lean C-OX because they're at home. But this does feel like a game where anything can happen. Rashichi is a big difference maker. Yeah. He is the type of he's the type of player who's on Super Bowl winning teams. Also, I think they're going to use him in the backfield because now Sharbone is gone. He could be a little bit more of an X-Factor in the run game. They they've got a lot of success from him where they're doing like reverses and things like that where they line them up in the backfield. So could be some creativity coming from that point of view. I agree with that a lot. I think that that's actually been a theme of the playoffs. I think receivers in the backfield has been a theme. Actually, a lot of teams. And I agree. I think that she he wasn't as integrated in the passing offense as you would think after he's traded there. Even though Kubiak was his offensive coordinator in New Orleans, you think there'd be a little more integration like of just him being used more. But the Rams game, the second one that Seattle won at Seattle, flipped when she did the punt return. But also an offense he had to basically did. You're going to Xavier Worthy style like, hey, we've just recreated a punt for you. Like do that. And she he had a huge play on that one too. I think it was maybe called back. But he was such a spark. And I think the C-Arcs used the two weeks. I don't know. But I kind of would be shocked if the C-Arcs did not use the two weeks on buy to create more sheath plays into the offense. And I don't think they had to use any of them because they were up like 17 and nothing on the nighters like immediately. So I don't think they had. I think there's 17 competitions in that game. Yeah, exactly. And I'm like, so he's actually playing more on offense. So I think he's a huge part of the game. The other part is just Kobe Turner. Like we watched that get Kobe Turner was just everywhere dominating the interior. Which was again, that's I mean, every quarterbacks issue is when there's interior pressure up the middle. But like it was actually Grace Ables probably worse gay of the season was actually against the Rams. And it's like the Rams defensive line. It's when the C-Arcs are in obvious passing situations. The Rams defense kind of cooks them. But when the C-Arcs are staying on the sharpening schedule and they're getting the second and meds and the Rams can't defensive line doesn't get the it's just cool as a pass rusher to be able to just say I'm going to go sack San Donald. It's more annoying to be like, oh, I guess I have to also consider a run here. And that is kind of what it comes down to. I think the Rams defensive line if they're going to have like the third and longs over and over. It's like it's hard to ask Donald to do that over and over and over again. Yeah, it is funny how often the defense beats the offense historically. Like I mean you go back to like the 16-in-up Patriots you look at like the Denver Broncos team against Seattle that the C-Arcs are allegedly one that Super Bowl. You're making a Bill Simmons joke right now by the way. And Bill had DK on to apologize, but I thought it was real funny. He's like I have nothing I it was a braid fart. I got nothing for you. And then I mean look the Rams in 2019 against the Patriots who were a phenomenal offense with Gough and Todd Gurley and stuff went and lost third. I think that was 13-3. Was that that Super Bowl? Yeah, that was where the Rams had like the unstoppable offense and then the Super Bowl Bill Belicek basically came up with a new way to stop their offense and they couldn't adjust. The Bill Belicek was quite literally like I have been doing this before you were born literally and I could he pull out a 1991 game plan. History suggests the defense usually wins. The thing that's come I've had in my mind a couple times this week about this game is how much that Super Bowl loss to Belicek kind of sticks in McVeigh's mind and how important it is for him I think to not lean on kind of the things that got them there basically not just be too much too predictable and like go back to last week it was kind of strange last week the Rams Mountain play almost 11 like almost exclusively 11 personnel after 13 personnel was their main all year long and they were so successful out of it and they came out and and kind of changed everything up it wasn't like a wholesale change but it was very different from what they normally were doing and it was different I also think the Bears blitzed them out of it I think they were trying to put the three tight ends on the field and the Bears kept blitzing risker in the defensive backs and that forced the Rams to kind of be go from three tight ends to more like three receivers and they was also response to what the Bears were doing so I kind of wanted to see how it might do that too the suits might try to blitz them and put them three receivers instead of three tight ends because it worked yeah that was kind of what I was getting at is like I think McVeigh is going to have something of a sleeve I think that McDonald's can have something up his sleeve to be different from what they've done I saw Robert Mays did a really cool video on the Seahawks defense over at the athletic and he kind of talked about how the Seahawks have been they've lived in too high they live in nickel and dime packages they almost never play base and they're really three linebackers on the field the same like we're always just gonna have we're gonna five defensive backs out so that's nickel so nickel is five defensive backs dime is five or six or more which is stupid because a nickel is five but it's not six sets so it's a thumbnail but anyway they they've lived in that all year and I don't think they're gonna do base but the one thing that they might change up is they might blitz more in this game that's kind of risky obviously when you're playing against against Stafford because he's just so good but they haven't been able to get pressure on him in the two games that they played yeah actually you mentioned you thought they actually haven't sacked the six of that sack Matt Stafford since Mike McDonald came to coach for the Seahawks they haven't sat them since 2023 Mike Sean Dukeard's do guard said that on him your friend Jackson Bevin's podcast yes he guard that yeah but I could I my jaw drop when he said that they haven't sacked Matt Stafford in two seasons I think he missed a game or two yeah it's been three games but yeah I mean it's a lot of dropbacks but a lot of plays for it yeah for a team who has been one of the best at getting pressure this year they don't blitz very much I think it you know they're like one of the highest pressure rate teams and the NFL and one of the lowest blitz rate teams in the NFL however with the thing that may is pointed out is when the Seahawks do blitz it's like a power up button it's like they're you know they're afterburner thing they are one of the best teams at getting pressure and getting sacks of the last five years when they do blitz so maybe this is kind of something that they've been like putting in their back pocket and saving I don't know I obviously have no idea what what the game plan is going to be but that's going to be something I'm watching is like how much are they going to blitz in this game how are they going to do different things to get pressure on Stafford because it just hasn't really worked in the first two games and so again this is the chess match it's going to be it's going to be crazy is it called a dime package because on a dime package there's two nickel corners and two nickels is a dime you know that actually probably is it yeah oh wow we figured it out that's great it was just right there in front of us yeah right and two nickels you know what two nickels is a dime yeah that's cool no one even uses dimes anymore they don't even make pennies they stop making pennies I can't believe that that's why yeah they kind of just a few things just decided that does people in your generation have cash do you guys carry cash no I know when people in our generation and really the generation below us they don't even carry wallets you just pay with your phone I like having cash on me but I think I'm the only one I know that that feels that way that's everyone who's like 50 and up always tells me you need to carry around cash at all times and then everyone who's like 20 years and younger is like I literally don't even carry a wallet around me the vendor where do you even get cash where do you where does that come from it's yeah it's funny because it used to feel like I think back in the day when kids like first got a credit card that felt like free money and now $20 bills to me feels like free money because I'm like this is off to grit yeah I mean like there's no paper trace there's no receipt of this like I could I could use anything for this 20 bucks and nobody will know yeah and my credit card is traced there's a fucking description of what I bought here I don't like that it's like it's a boomer thing too it's like there's a fan diver in between like parents who are like telling kids when you are trying to drive somewhere they're telling you how to get there like and you're like I just needed a dress and they're like okay so you get on the highway and then you get off at exit 14 take a look and like no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no stop I'm gonna play those people also carry cash I carry cash for the right I mean I'll even use whatever navigation system to get home from a place that I've come from a thousand times like driving from the office to my apartment is something I've literally done a thousand times and yet I will always use my maps is that mainly to see the traffic yeah I think it's just in case there's like an accident taking your out of it even because there wasn't I still would we've been trained out of it though no it's because the critical thinking we just don't have critical thinking while driving it's like I've got a map on I'm gonna think about I'm gonna like listen to something I gotta focus on my podcast exactly listening to uh should we move on to the other game or should we just I have an email about boomers on this note no we should we should get through drink mayverse Jared's item okay well before we do that though we put a pin in this we'll go to bring her one of seven later but like we need to roughly be on the same page here do we believe in sam d'arnal yes or no because it's either you can be like oh we might be good and bad maybe but no no he's either going to become a fucking pumpkin again and we're all gonna be like wow Charlie Brown be like this happened again or oh my god he did it like he played really well in this game and I I kind of want to make you guys pick one and I am really I am willing to be stupid I actually believe in d'arnal than this game I'm gonna get out number I think I would pick the Rams but I'm happy to take Seattle why did you leave me to it you're taking Seattle yeah I would take the points with the Rams but I don't feel strongly okay IFC championship game to be honest to you it's the exact same thing we can talk about the patriots and the freaking Broncos all we want the deep dude Jared's item is starting this game this is unbelievable I don't even know what to say I mean Jared's item first of all he's played four games he started four games in the NFL all four games were because the starter ahead of him was benched because the team owed him an injury guarantee if he got hurt and they wanted to keep the guy healthy and two starts in 2022 for Derek car Derek car if you got hurt they owed him like 20 million dollars but they didn't know him any money if he got hurt so we had two starts there and then same exact thing happened with Russell Wilson the next year where they're like if Russell Wilson gets hurt we don't like 40 million dollars we can't cut him so that's his entire career it's just like we benched healthy players this is the first time that's the this not the reason he's playing should we do a little background on Jared's item for those who literally don't know who he is please so just just for some some general background information Jared said him 29 years old he was the 29 yeah 29 a little older than I thought I think I would have said 27 he was a former fourth round pick out of Auburn he was drafted by the patriots he was done on the Raiders as high fits outline and now he's been on the Broncos since 2023 he will be the just the seventh quarterback to start in the postseason after not starting a game in the regular season the previous six went one in five and this will be stedems fifth career start in NFL he has not thrown a pass since January 7th 2024 in a real game and he has 197 past attempts career and in those he had eight touchdowns eight picks the thing I would add is that when he was drafted the patriots it was like Josh McDaniels was the quarterback coach and McDaniels was his quarterback coach for two years of the Patriots and then he also was the reason that he ended up on the Raiders in 2022 so he spent three of his however many seasons in the NFL under Josh McDaniels was obviously on the Patriots staff that was their coordinator that's interesting the other thing Craig left he left out two essential things about Jared's did him okay one he's the speaker guy I learned this from someone of the Broncos beat he is in charge of the speakers in the in the Broncos locker room he's on ox water he's on ox he has he does the white boy Wednesdays he white boy Wednesdays he does he brings the waterproof speakers into the showers I guess and he's the white boy Wednesdays he's did that was key that was just joke but yeah no but anyway I stood him for speaker guy which I couldn't tell if that was Nick or not because I'm like oh that's not a Nick it's the opposite of alpha right yeah wait it's a huge sign of trust yeah yeah the other thing the most important person had a party is the person the team the team is behind this guy these leadership qualities are really in charge of vice trust is taste that means a lot true uh it also there's an established trust of him like people trust him to play music that actually cut you know it's important yeah the other thing I Greg wrote some thought pointed this out I couldn't believe it so you know that meme that went around when juan Jennings in the nine years Eagles game had the longest past of the game like he threw the trick play to christian McCaffrey and then it went around the meme that he was late in the high school quarterback rankings juan Jennings was a higher ranked high school recruit a quarterback then like Joe burrow and santa Arnold and Lamar Jackson and all these people truth like right there with kai there marry the person was number one on that list was Jared stood him wow was he a five star uh yeah he was like the 13th player so anyway it's just been moments throughout Jared's city's career I remember in like the off season it was kind of oh Jared's to them actually might be the guy like the coaching staff might actually just want to like start the season with Jared's to them yeah it's been a little bit of that but it's clearly never materializing was not a real thing but the point being that there's tools like he is like he is gonna be able to move and he he has an arm I this get dude it's so funny I gotta tell you I I was thinking about it this way if you flip drake may and Jared's did him like drake may was on the Broncos instead of was on patriots the line in this game that where we would pick the patriots would have to be 14 right probably like the Broncos are such a better team to me and drake may is such a better quarterback I that the I actually have talked myself into the Broncos and then in the sober light of the post game clarity I'm like I'm not picking Jared's did him go to the ball I think it's the more of a chance than you think it's the bell curve I'm like Jared said I'm no way and then I think about it for a while I'm like well Sean Payton in his defense drake may's actually been pretty loose these playoffs like you could win with a backup in one game look at what the floor can do with Malik Willis or Josh jobs in Minnesota won his first game look at Mac Jones on the night is like you can win a game with Sean Patriots offensive line is terrible will Campbell and his T-Rex arm see it since his MCL you were in 2017 sure and then I'm like now what am I doing Jared I think that's pretty much where I am also it's funny because I do think the people writing off Denver completely are making a mistake I do think that they have a good enough defense right home you know that all that stuff in Sean Payton is a great coach and there's just a lot of variables that I think the Broncos will stay in this game I think the one thing well there's multiple things I'm worried about what's did him though it's like Bo Nix has been so crucial for Denver this year because of what he's done late in games that Denver is 12 and two in one score games this year that was from Rich Rebar that is incredible and that just a testament to what Nix is able to do late in games obviously and I don't think I I don't think I trusted him to like be a hero in those last moments of a big game can I give you an intrusive thought yes I don't believe this this is an intrusive thought part of me is like you know the reason Bo Nix has to bail out all the time is because the Broncos were losing late in games and part of me is like what if Jared's did him just has them right early in the game yeah and what if he's better than Bo Nix like I keep wondering what if he just plays better well I don't think it's what if he's better it's it's like the Broncos offense wasn't that good with Bo Nix and I don't know if that means I'm more confident what they could do with Jared's system or less but I'm like this offense was kind of mediocre this year and the defense is really good and they won close low scoring games so I'm like maybe they can be okay with Jared's team I don't actually believe that but I have been wondering of like what is the percentage chance we come out of this I'm like yeah Jared's did him way but like you actually on play as Bo Nix would be funny but no I don't know I think that the rust thing is real like he isn't play like the whole stat of like he hasn't the gap between his last start and his next playoff starts like by far the most ever for a guy's going to play in the playoffs that the rust is real I think it's the whole week to practice it's like that is true infinitely better than him coming in like you know the first quarter of Nix got her or whatever it's like that that's a huge huge difference not that I'm saying it's enough but that does make a difference I think I think I think I think what I have this game is going to go I think New England is going to you know that scene in Pirates of the Caribbean when Jack Sparrow like he fights um Orlando Bloom the first time and he like in the sword room and they're just like oh not bad actually how's your footwork and then they just he just test his game for like a full minute he's like oh I think that's the pages they're gonna back up like all right go ahead let's see it can you make screens cool can you do it and they're just gonna actually see literally can he even run the offense like go ahead and the first drive show on Peyton's gonna try to do like the B side of the record and then that second drive is gonna be like here's how we actually think we can move the ball for Jared's did him in this game and I think the Patriots they're not gonna go crazy or anything to be there's gonna see can he actually operate the offense this person has not done it in two years and then if that doesn't go well I will be very concerned but I wouldn't be shocked if Stidham kind of dices up like a softer Patriots defense in the beginning of the game and then they kind of decide what they're doing and then they put the clamps on but I don't know I just think the problem for Broncos in this game isn't just that it's everything it's the starting center I think is coming back from injury reserve um but the center is banged up the backup center is banged up with the quarterback and then you also have you know um pat Bryant might play in this game but the first three passes of the bill's Broncos game went to pat Bryant he had a concussion maybe the odds are a little better he comes back because it's eight days I think between the games instead of seven but that's not good and then um who Troy Franklin which I guess his whole thing was kind of connected with Bonaix because they played together to work again but Troy Franklin is hamstring injury I don't know if that gets better in a week so the Broncos are a little thinner at receiver like it's kind of I just feel like it's gonna be a lot of screens to Marvin Mims like they need a lot of Marvin Mims wacky stuff I actually think they're gonna have to test Christian Gonzalez down fear with Coral and Sutton because I got they threw I think they threw a Christian Gonzalez detects instead left like like 16 times which I don't really think I don't know I feel like everyone's like Christian Gonzalez is good and maybe you guys don't feel this way I feel like when a cornerback is labeled as really good in the media no one ever checks on it ever again right no one ever follows up you don't hear his name no and I just think Christian Gonzalez we decided was good this year but I the Texans decided we're gonna have a rookie Jaden Higgins we're gonna throw a Christian Gonzalez 16 times I kind of think the Broncos then quote Sutton's better than Jaden Higgins and that's gonna be their shot is uh quote now maybe not because they're gonna be conservative but I don't know I think it's gonna be a lot of think and dunk from Sean Payton mixed with some crazy ass Sean Payton like I did an on-sides kick on this Super Bowl Sean Payton I think RJ Harvey the running back is gonna throw a pass in this game I think you're gonna have flea flickers like I think you're gonna love some tight end you've never heard of is gonna score a touchdown yeah yeah like I like sixth offensive lineman like I think this is like every trick in the book god who was that sixth the lineman from last week oh that's where the touchdown what was that oh the they threw it and it was like a bit of a 20 yeah that yeah I guess that got kind of blew it for everybody it is gonna be it has to be a kitchen sink game it's why it's gonna stink if if the if Sean Payton pulls this off and they make this Super Bowl and then they have to go play like the Seahawk with Jared Stedem and now Mike McDonald's got tape on Stedem like DK it's funny DK do you think the margin of victory for Seattle against Jared Stedem would be look bigger or smaller than the Seahawks margin of victory against the best offensive all time and payton panic uh that's a good question like what they went when they went I give I 35 points like would the Seahawks beat Jared Stedem by 35 points maybe like we desperately need new England to win this game I like we can't have Jared Stedem he squeeze his way into the store for yourself well then Seattle playing Jared Stedem we can also if the Broncos win this game what you're gonna hear it because Sean Payton also is talks to more people in the media than anyone over text like people can just text them like he doesn't have like he's he's playing up the narrative he's clearly not text of me and what or yeah anyway might be trying to add texts but yeah all we're gonna hear though is the Broncos win this game is that no coaches ever won the Super Bowl of two different teams which is insane but it's true and then if he does it with Jared Stedem and Bo Nix is hurt I mean I'll stop making five of them if they win the Series unfortunately we'll we probably will have to also people will come for us but yeah it's insane that it's either gonna be that or the Patriots versus in a rematch of a game the Patriots have already won it's either gonna be Patriots, Seahawks or Patriots Rams we're gonna hear about that or we're gonna have to do two weeks of Jared Stedem content which man we're gonna need that playlist Jared if you can fucking help us please um but yeah this get the only thing I will give to the the part in the middle like at the beginning of this conversation Jared Stedem we're not gonna bet on the end's gonna be Jared Stedem we're not gonna bet on I will admit the middle is the rookie left tackle Will Campbell played well and then he went on injured reserve for his knee and I think that people got people got cooked he got cooked and that's the thing people it's not about his arms it's his legs he has an MCL injury and is returned and has been absolutely destroyed and to the we're I forget the exact stab to give him what two forced fumbles and three saxophone's love Anderson had his way with Bill Campbell and but the the the stat line will Anderson had has only been done one other time in the history of the playoffs and it was the other guy who faced will Campbell the week before for the chargers which is a horrible horrible sign yeah and so you know the Broncos who have 68 sacks the most sacks in the history of the team they've broncos of led the league in sacks for two years on a row Nick Benito is out here you know he's not easy to make sacks Josh Allen and Nick Benito is coming out of halftime I mean I don't know the play before the first half is what people remember Josh Allen kind of threw the ball away but they also came out in the second half of the bill's Broncos game and Nick Benito goes ahead and strip sacks Josh Allen again immediately just start the half and I just think Nick Benito in this Broncos defense that had the most sacks in the NFL is going to attack this Patriots offense where they have two rookies on the offensive line it's by far the weakest part of the of the entire Patriots roster is the offensive line it's a crazy mismatch Drake may fumbled four times last week and that is the other part of this where if the Patriots lose we're going to be like oh yeah we will remember the C.J. Stroud Patriots performance for years of how bad he was and the weirdest stat from the whole game is that Drake may had more picks and fumbles in that game then C.J. Stroud did and now we have to face the defense that's like the next best defense after the Texans and the Texans just the ball didn't bounce their way but if these fumbles bounce toward the Broncos that is definitely I think the way the New England is going to be the next factor this is going to be super simplistic and I think that's kind of like sometimes it is good to just take a look from 30,000 feet and we talk about this all year it's like a huge narrative maybe it's a cliche but the teams that go to the Superbowl are usually the teams that catch fire or peak at the right time you know what I mean like I'm thinking of the Ravens with Flacco in 2012 like they just peeked at the right time they're so good for those four or five games however many they played I think it was whatever it was three or four games and it does just feel to me like the teams that are peaking right now are the Seahawks and the Patriots the the the Rams are not peaking I think the Rams are the Patriots peaking I would they've just beaten the Chargers and the Texans to really good defenses I think their run game has been pretty good Drake May has been I think really admiral he's played really admirable admirable against two very admiral he had admiral he had he's he's he's done an admiral job against two good defenses admiral job and I think on I think maybe they're not peaking but relative to the Broncos who really kind of they did not go strongly into the playoffs and then they beat the bills but then they lost their started quarterback to the point DK they are not peaking by DVA the Patriots best four defensive performance of the year by DVA are New England's last four games and the last four games are their best four conversely and this is again from Rich Rebar the Denver defense has not been nearly as good in the second half of the season as it was in the first half of the season they're kind of going in the wrong direction they he listed out all these games you know they gave up a bunch of yards and points to the commanders and Marcus Mario to they have a bunch of points in our New York love Trevor Lawrence and Josh Allen so again I'm just being super simplistic top level stuff like who's playing better right now that's another way to kind of look at this I mean I don't think we talked about the spread yet but the Patriots are only favorite by four and a half points in this game which will flip like but the Broncos were originally favorite so it flipped of course a touchdown for Jared Stidham yeah but I guess I'm a little surprised that there's only a two-point difference between the Ramsey Hawk spread and the Jared Stidham Drake may spread yeah but also seven points I you don't usually I mean what do you want to move by because I don't it takes Aaron Rodge it takes like Stafford to Jared Stidham to move a line 10 points you know what I mean like it moves it moved seven points I believe yeah the line right now is four and a half yeah that's to me that's crazy I I guess we got to do it I I just feel like everything we're saying is not gonna blink and we're gonna take New England minus four and a half which I mean everyone will take New England minus four and a half which maybe we'll learn that Vegas knows knows all in their right but to me that that line seems low I think it will be a close game in New England we'll win and honestly we're all gonna lose the bets in New England we'll win the game which is the worst case scenario but Patriots can win my three because I think that what they're I think that Vrable unlike the Texans who made the sin of Stroud Fumble five times and then somehow came in it with four first half picks I think Drake made will be more prepared to not turn the ball over because I think Vrable and Josh Mottano's understand that if the Patriots don't turn the ball over they're overwhelmingly likely to win this game because of the nature of it and the I I just trust the coaching staff to make those corrections more than I trust trusted the Texans for example I'm just disappointed that they're gone but overall I don't know the other part I do keep wondering about the digs in this game too because I keep thinking about that up Broncos Jags game or Parker Washington just kind of kept burning I ironically Mcmillan who had that pick and Brandon Cooks that no one will stop talking about is I kind of think that's who actually the Patriots are gonna target this game is it gonna be digs on Mcmillan yeah the anyway we can talk with this a lot but it's we're not taking your instead of right like to me the Denver offense I think they were 16th and 19th and success right this year there were 16th and scoring and a lot of the mobility stuff that Bonaix brings to the table was a huge piece of I feel like what that offense was capable of and Bonaix bailing the matter things hitting big throws on the run scrambling saving them on third down is a little bit of Brock Pretty in them totally and I'm like man they also can't run the ball I mean they ran for like 40 yards last week against Buffalo and New England is a good run D I to me I feel comfortable taking four and a half and I think we don't overthink this I think so sweet the ringer fantasy football shows brought to you by Fandall four teams left two games and with a trip to Super Bowl 60 on the line Fandall's turning on playoff sea hawks not giving too enough points to the Rams because I perc cred can disagree and you can say I tell you so if Donald slacks I don't want to be in the position of the sea hawks winning against the Rams and Danny Kelly is like on the precipice of his team going to the Super Bowl and I'm like rooting against this team I don't want that to happen that might not be good for our friendship yeah no I want to be on your side be careful what you say to me on Sunday what are you talking about I'm taking the sea hawks with you you're rooting for the Rams your brother I'm not gonna be rooting for them if we have the sea hawks in 107 maybe that's fairly but that's fair that's fair sea hawks and we're taking we're taking the pace yeah yeah you know it's I can we what we should really do is make one of our bets the Patriots to win by let by exactly three points so that we lose the bet but the Patriots go to the Super Bowl because that's what's gonna happen I just I can't imagine I can't believe that we're so close to Jared said a big in the Super Bowl I know we're not we're not acknowledging this yeah I don't understand it and I won't acknowledge it for us the spread gonna be if they if what's the sea hawks Denver spread gonna be 30 to funny point only beat the greatest offense ever by more or less than either of the Rams or the sea ox they probably would be like eight or eight maybe oh I wonder what the largest Super Bowl spread of all time is oh that's not fun question it's probably the it's probably the third one it has to be the Jets cult game that's Super Bowl 3 I can't imagine there was ever a bigger spread than that maybe championship games but the the chargers versus 49ers and 95 it was a it was a 19 point spread what yeah well that's because yeah that's the eight so the NF the AFC 8 it was 18 and a half the nineers were fucking good apparently the 95 Niners the NFC championship game was seen as the Super Bowl for like a really long time like the team that won the NFC just won the Super Bowl for like mostly for like 15 years that's wild and they covered oh did that 14926 that's awesome well keep that in mind so what are what are the other bets we're gonna do here so we have to have four bets in this round we have to have some props to I I part of me thinks I want I want to just try to play rushing what is it was the number should we stop here do yeah let me see what I can I'll find it real quick it's 30.5 done give me that and then what else I don't like his confidence fuck it don't give me that the other one I want Rashid Shaheed's receiving is over 23 yards and I kind of he hasn't done that a lot he's done it like twice since his busy yuck I kind of just love the idea of us getting that in one play don't like I book it want it so there we go spent notes it's ready to make over rushing yards blind we don't know what is it 30 whatever 30.5 okay 30.5 and then Shaheed over 23.5 receiving yards or whatever they I'll pull up the yard it just that one scares me a little I'll be honest but why because he's done it once in like three months yeah they just don't really use them on offense but I mean he is such an electric player that I don't like hate this no there is absolutely no if it was rushing or receiving yards I feel better about it there is no statistical argument I can make that she he will just all of us get inside it it's entirely the idea that they have had at this point three weeks to get this man the ball and I just think they will but no he's had like two catches the game so no I mean if by all means we can do something else yeah in the last okay this is their last four games here's his receiving yards 0 to 8 0 yeah so that's fine it's 20 what 23 23 why is it so high get out of here Vegas he's fucking good all right we'll take it maybe he just he's one he just has one he's like my god that is that is a high number actually you know it's Friday I was gonna offer to let you guys pick something else I actually now I'm done again I kind of want to keep it okay I know I'm fine I know I'm good with that sure I love she did today's ringer one of seven is brought to my fandal odd subject to change okay you guys want to do some news here for me get out of here you see we got at this bill's owner doing this press conference that made everything worse is one of the funnier non-jerry jones owner press conferences in a long time yeah I tough beat for Keon Coleman everyone's basically arguing over who took him and which was like the worst thing of the year it's like no I didn't take him you took him do remember Keon Coleman when he was drafted and we're and he was like going shopping for like a red coat and buffalo and it was so sweet and everyone's like wow this is like the sweetest guy I'd everyone loved him and now literally the owner is throwing coaches under the bus because they wanted him he's watching Keon Coleman at is sitting at home watching people fight over who deserves bland for taking him got that suck for those who didn't see this satari pegula who the or pecula who owns the bills whose daughter is also competing in the australian open right now so the owner of the bill said did this joint press conference the brand and being the GM because the GM got promoted to president but head coach Sean McDermott got fired and it was just like which a lot of people thought was the exact opposite of what they should have done yes and so it was one of those pecs behind the curtain where you're like you know what this is just an old man who's very angry and and so Terry pecula he ran and being the GM now president was asked about the Keon Coleman you know he was healthy scratch for four games like I know Keon Coleman I feel bad for him but also he literally I think he was late for something but he first drum pick who um literally was healthy and did not play for a month on a team healthy scratch that's how bad he was so the owner interrupts the answer from the GM and says all addressed the Keon Coleman situation the coaching staff pushed the draft Keon I'm not saying Brandon wouldn't have drafted Keon but Keon was not brand his next choice that was Brandon being being a team player and taking the advice of his coaching staff the coaching staff who felt strongly about the guy and you know he's taken for some reason heat over it I'm not saying a word about it but I'm here to tell you the true story which was the end quote and then all these videos came out Brandon being at the at the combine saying like they had a piece of paper that said Keon Coleman no matter what yeah down we found that no basically he was really into it yeah it was he was at the combine talking oh it's slow 40 good it'll make it easier to get on he was saying the night for the draft they have on camera and he was just like I unless someone blows us away with the trade-off we're taking Keon Coleman all those things could be true like it could have decided to go with the coaches and everything but it whether Brandon being is a skimmer or actually just a guy doing his best it made him look way worse to have it seem like the owner has a completely different version of reality and I the most generous charitable interpretation of this is that the owner is very out of touch because the other part of the press conference was him saying I didn't like the vibe in the locker room so I decided to fire Sean McDermott and they tried cleaning it up later and saying like well it was a bunch of other things too it was the whole season but it really seemed like he said I decided to fire Sean McDermott basically because of the Broncos game and the aftermath and so the reporters were like so if the Brandon Cooks catch goes the other way you keep McDermott and he's like I'm not getting into that but that's what happened that's always the case so many of these firings come down to such armature things like again Lamar Jackson doesn't get hurt Harba's probably still involved tomorrow you know what I mean like if Josh John doesn't fumble at the end of the second quarter McDermott might still be the head coach in the bills but why are we talking about Keon Coleman so much like why was that a subject I think it was because they there was a lot of consternation among the fan base that he wasn't doing enough to put weapons around Josh Allen and he got really Brandon Bean got really mad in the media multiple times basically saying shut the fuck up we had been the highest scoring offense two years in a row or whatever I forget exactly what he showed despite the football last season because they had to write and he was like we've had 30 points eight games in a row it's an NFL record why you talk about fucking wide receivers yeah and it was one of those like he was right but we just don't say that you show it screaming people but the other reason we're talking about it is because they took Keon Coleman 30 the first sorry the first pick of the second round and the next pick was Lad McConkey for the Chargers and you could argue that the bill the bills might have like super well appearances this year and last year if they had just taken Lad McConkey to the Keon Coleman but it's become just a I think he's just the flashpoint for the Josh Allen angst that they haven't made a super with Josh Allen and then it's the larger bills angst that they you know made four superls of a row didn't win any then they went 17 years that making the playoffs and now they have this error again and there is this existential angst underneath the surface that they're wasting another prime error for the bills and I think Keon Coleman just become a flashpoint because no one is ready to explain why Josh Allen can't make it super well and so but even Terry Piccolo was like I don't know why they just made everything so much worse than this presser as Larry's big time strisely effect shout out to crispy brown who posted that that page from Bill Walsh's book about owners and GM's and coaches and he's like coaches are in the film room at midnight and like the bill Walsh is like coaches are in the room at midnight trying to like figure out what's wrong with the team but like the owners at dinner with the GM and the assistant person and the person L guy drinking martini's talking about what they think might be wrong with the team and they're like I bet it's the fucking coach be well the coach is not at dinner drinking martini's actually trying to figure it out and just just fucking nailed it nothing's changed this is why it's it's a such a thing I stress during this time of year always is the relationship between the coach the GM and the owner and this is just something that goes back year like you know through the generations it's like the best and most the longest lasting I think dynasties or just like successful eras is when there's harmony between coach GM and owner and then obviously quarterback helps a lot too those are kind of like the four pillars but when you have like a little finger situation going on where he's just you know chaos is a ladder that's not good that's not just that's not going to be good long term for the team that's exactly what Bill Walls was saying so it's so like present to pressure pressure pressure pressure it I don't know which how do you say that word I say pressure but I'm not the pronunciating it was it but I feel like he probably wrote that like the 80s or the 90s yeah but it's just so true that there's the relationships between GM owner and coach can be pretty fucked up on that note the dolphins hired the combo of the defensive quarter Jeff Haffley from the Packers as they had coach and then the GM John Eric Sullivan if the Miami was the assistant GM or the assistant GM and Grebe Eridus sorry the president vice president player personnel and DK you texted us this morning that you guys you think these two men look identical and I I was like what are you talking about I looked them like you know what they are kind of like indistinguishable chads they both have the same haircut at the very least they just they do look very similar yeah I will say a little bit of legal boss energy John Eric Sullivan the GM there's the picture that I sent you guys he's doing an interview with Cameron Wolf he's got the widest sitting stance I've ever seen in my life he's a wide stance guy this is the widest stance power stance he's straight up spread-eagled on this chair it's actually insane how wide his legs are in this photograph it's a it's a power move I respect it yeah honestly Cameron Wolf try to come match him though he's doing he's doing it he's doing it well it's like a power stance off between the two of them it's like how Trump shakes hands yeah in the background it's like put tugging on your arm yeah oh my god who can man spread the most that's what the Democrats are got to do they got to go the focus on the handshakes they got to just power you're just gonna spread yeah spread sit yeah um other news we were gonna talk about Mike McDaniel go to the chargers but then it's like he's not actually go to the charges and I think everyone saw the John Harboh thing where the media will run with it before he signs the contract and so Mike McDaniel was like reported as going to the chargers except it's not done at all leverage potentially well I think he's still interviewing Fred coaching jobs which is why I was confused about it they're like expected to hire Mike McDaniel which is not the same as hiring him and if he gets a coaching job I feel like he would take that so right yeah I was excited to talk about the combination of having Jim Harboh and Mike McDaniel just as people who say words to reporters on the same team like between Mike McDaniel saying you know it's a great day to even though every day we're closer to death and then everything Jim Harboh says like I would love the electricity of that and also just the khakis with Harboh on the philosophy Tuesdays they just like talk they just wax poetic about Harboh different yeah he has to annual some chickens you know exactly I would believe anything those imagine those two guys just talking have a walk on the beach together and rain and Delray sounds great yeah unlike the animal friendship only other thing I we don't I don't know if we want to talk about there's gonna be a lot of substation talk between San Francisco as the super linchon linchon linchon acknowledging that the substation they're like we're looking into it like fucking Aaron Rogers like they're just doing it to get people off their back they're like yeah yeah all right we'll look into it we know what they're hiring ace ventura electricity detective to check it out that would actually oh god that actually would be funny this would be that this would be an S-sad help it between down the super balls like the guys at the substation because you can you imagine jolman said nope we're not gonna look into it well I don't know if you guys saw but a couple of 49ers McCaffrey and was it you check we're at the warriors game where Jimmy Butler towards ACL you think they're contagious I don't know maybe just them there's something quantum happening here a quantum leap it's a quantum field at some point we'll have to I do have to mention the guy who started all this other than the players but the guy who was like made the thread that went viral thought that it was related to Levi Stadium up in 2014 and then they informed him that the practice facility has been near the substation since 1988 he was like oh huh and no my huh and you know he's starting a company that will help you with EMF but it's yeah it's a good bit though so they need to just build a bigger wall at the practice stadium so you can't see the stuff you want to build a wall that's the only way should we put that as the chiroin below Craig the Craig wants to build all wall needs to be bigger um but and you know if funny Craig kind of the they're actually already is a wall right there is a wall just make it tall and if you can't keep the substation the narrative disappears just make it bigger it is great did I tell you guys this like there was a a tweet I saw where someone was like yes uh Fred Warner he's back at practice he's running around he's gonna be so close and then someone just quote tweeted and said you could literally see the factory behind him in this picture it's just like looming in the background like meditating usually the super bowl team would practice one of them at the nine year facility right the field there's no fucking way either teams do not not really point because the MF thing's real but because the players believe it which I do think that's why this theory and thing is like alive I don't think any of the CMF shit is real I think the reason this is at staying power is that well great you there's like a subconscious element where these players think that they're going to get injured because they're near the substation so they do no I think the players believe it and that's a problem I think the players actually believe but what but so if they believe it then what the nineers oh no no I'm saying you're hurting the perceive effect that's what I just said yeah I'm saying the Super Bowl teams you can't have during Super Bowl week where your whole thing is eliminating distractions to the point where the only part of Bella chicks book I was fascinated by was that the first 24 hours after they make the Super Bowl he's like I am just doing hotel rooms for everybody I am personally handling everyone's hotel and ticket requests tickets and hotels goes through Bill Bella check because he's like I can't have players dealing with that after Tuesday he's like all that has to be buttoned up he's like I want them thinking about their jobs you can't have players uncles texting them about the fucking substation and then they're like googling and you're gonna have like the starting linebacker on your team and the Super Bowl googling like fucking chat GPT like what happens with EMF like you need to fucking focus that it's not worth going there every press conference are like we're not answering any questions about the substation all right exactly and it's like but that's the problem is like even though the live readings of the fucking electromagnetic fields at all times but this is the modern media problem too it's like media day it's all they're gonna fucking hear about that if one team's at this facility they're gonna get asked about EMF all day which is yeah like you can't go there by the way Craig sorry I was distracted and that's why I didn't hear your placebo talk but the Ravens are planning to hire Jesse Mentor as being reported now so the Ravens are hiring Jesse Mentor as their new head coach for realsies that's what Ian Rappaport Adam Schaefter um Pelicero they're all saying yeah I think I mean that makes sense he's part of the Harbaugh it was like easy connection yeah he was at the he was at the Ravens for like three years he's on their defensive thing he was also he's like I think the pitch is very simple he's the other Mike McDonald's like that is what the pitch is because he was also the Ravens staff he was I believe he was also a Michigan for time on a gym he's coached under both the Harbaugh's um yeah he won the title with Michigan I think yeah so he was like with Jim Harbaugh there obviously he's with the Harbaugh's now in the Chargers and he worked for John Harbaugh as well and so it's an easy pitch where it's the same basically all them like these offensive like Sean McVeigh and Kyle Shanahan we've done these like new we've the old and the new of like play action wide zone offenses with modern passing and then just like completely changed the league and then Mike McDonald the CX is just like the counter revolution of like here's how to stop that which is how you have like Kyle Shanahan has three games as a coach with three points in two of them in the last two games like this month versus Mike McDonald's and so the pitches they're like we need a Jesse Minter as the other Mike McDonald like he's part of the new wave of defensive Shanahan McVeigh and the new wave of offense and then the Steelers get Mike McCarthy because there's no good reason uh he's is he from Pittsburgh they love guys from Pittsburgh they love guys from Pittsburgh Kenny Pickett's from Pittsburgh yeah bring him back yeah Mike the only kids are going to be like you know it's Kurt Signetti and Mike McCarthy just Pittsburgh guys if you if you hired Mike McCarthy for the Steelers what would you actually did I would group for the Chargers wait him out he's out I'm out I wouldn't wait them out wait him out I'm not doing that I'm sorry oh two weeks later Craig is all I will say someone posted the HR meme of uh you know like the guy comes by and he hits on the woman it's like you can't do that because he's ugly and someone comes by and does it and it was like McCarthy's record and like John Harbaugh or like shockingly similar yeah wins losses playoff record Super Bowl like the amount of like this incredibly similar Nick Sireon is probably better than both of theirs what's one him either okay all right we want to email again out of here uh I wanted to this is an email from Alex Alex a bone so Alex's breakfast was a mocha pot of coffee leftover scrambled eggs my toddler did not eat a mocha pot of coffee I don't know what that means I was hoping you guys with mocha pot of coffee mocha mocha I don't know I'm not the biggest coffee guy wouldn't know right yeah I think mocha is a brand of coffee oh okay all right he said he he said a pot of coffee he drank a pot of coffee he said a mocha pot of coffee okay well he's got the toddler not eating I understand why you need the coffee yeah yeah oh a mocha pot is a stove top electric coffee maker oh huh so maybe I was wrong oh I oh there also is a mocha coffee I've seen these it's a kind of yeah I've seen one of these I have one of these so he had coffee oh yeah these little guys yeah caught I don't know I don't know I don't know how to use that it's actually in my kitchen this thing is a crab that for stuff you don't use or not a French press uh yeah yeah we have like a I have like a a random a miscellaneous drawer that comes in handy way more than you think yeah love the miscellaneous drawer this guy right here the percolator percolates I've actually used one of these before on a like a barbecue so Alex writes in about Craig saying that the boomers have this weird thing about like swallowing pills without water and they're going to just dry swallow a pill I got a text about this too for my buddy I got to tell you Alex hit the nail in that ear okay you said that the boomers dry swallowing pills is part of a larger thing boomers don't drink water that's true uh Alex writes my boomer dad goes through six coaks today two frappuccinos in the glass bottles and he has a big glass of milk with dinner is there are friends sludge sludge is my friend our friend's boomer dad moved into her new moved her like the dad moved the daughter into a new apartment on the fifth floor no elevator was visibly gassed she offers some water he turns it down ask for a coca-cola she doesn't have it so he settled on a shot of tequila whoa and then he says all moms in the south need to have sweet tea when we go out for dinner the water on the table is purely decorative yeah yeah and he says drinking water with a pill is off-putting because they'd rather raw dug the pill than drink water I think this is dead on my father does not drink water he jackeys mom we just got her to start drinking water recently she's a little water bottle now my father he's like you got a drink more water daddy acts like it's fucking torture what is going on the boomers refuse to drink water well I mean if you go back in time almost everything these people did was not healthy and yet they're they're like living to 80 years old but Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald were talking about this on the watch they were like there has been a new found discovery of hydration and how important it is for kind of people in the millennial range and down he was like they were like we were just drinking soda in juice until we were like 40 until somebody was like hey you should have like a lot of water every day and they just had no idea they were drinking fucking tang when they were 15 every day oh I remember tang yeah tang was hoodie tang no tang is just a drink it's like it's like a powder you put a powder yeah how is it she powdered that's wild yeah it's like orange flavored yeah or I have I've never had tang yeah I have this pretty healthy habit and one of them is I love water and it's been fun to watch the world come to me it's my only healthy habit but like I it's water is like the only known source of all life yeah man back in the day cigarette in a steak for dinner martini for lunch diet coke the rest of the day living there is water and all that stuff I feel like so that's why there's still a lot I mean a beer is like 95% water that's true see what's really yeah what's the fight that science yeah I feel like I mean even like playing sports they'd have just I mean once Gatorade became the thing you just drink Gatorade on the side yeah this is like water it's 10 times better it's great yeah to grow up we had Capri Suns at half time of soccer games yeah no one's giving us water I'd Capri Suns growing up it's funny too because I'm like I'm watching mad mad madman with jacket I've never seen madman it's just a pleasure to watch it for the first time yeah and it's so funny doing it out of order like sopranos are you know yeah yeah no I am no I just watching random first saw that yeah yeah I guess you tubeed all the cool scenes then I'm starting to be getting I'll skip some it looks for you it must be tricky because in some episodes Peggy's alive and then an upper other episode she's not yeah it's crazy no it's it's weird yeah I mean yeah no it's it's really odd wait so what is your revelation watching madman I think the just it's their fault it's their fault that's what I'm trying to talk to people were like you should drink cool aid instead and they're like yeah I was literally going to say this before you brought it up I was thinking about that it's madmen's fault it's the fucking madison avenue advertisers who were like you know smoke cigarettes because they taste good it's like you know that all that bullshit you get fed your whole life like Coca-Cola so refreshing oh my god I know it's hard it's hard for who to blame is it the advertisers or is it the cigarette brands I don't or is it human nature that's true anyway sorry this episode is brought to by Lucky Strike yeah they're toasted less talk less talk less cancer they still have tar yeah we want to be clear there is tar but less yeah anyway yeah yeah most of you funny stories of your parents not drinking water which is any thoughts on boomers in their their happy for the other revelation they're were still need vegetables boomers like that's true how michael did the other madmen thing like watching madmen and you're like okay they didn't know how to like cook vegetables other than like boiling them so then our parents generation just doesn't eat vegetables and like no some generation learn to cook on the internet it was all like wartime canned vegetables yeah two steps above MREs and they're just out here and we're like you know if you add Brussels fresh little balsamic on that bitch and my parents are like you guys are like michael and stars chefs it's unbelievable the bar is so low to give the vegetables to boomers yeah it's funny I love a roasted vegetable vegetables can be so tasty dude do you remember somebody emailed this in with the the mr green man the vegetable mascot oh yeah and was like they used to give you like a little green dot the the big green man or whatever yeah and they used to give you a doll if you bought 10 cans and someone went into their father's attic and they found 200 little dolls which meant that they're that her grandmother had fed her father like like 2000 cans of the mr green man broccoli or whatever and like I see why my dad doesn't eat vegetables yeah man we were eating like green bean casserole for Thanksgiving and can peas and that shit lasts forever this was like you're coming up in the age of the cold war when that you get nuked at any time you need to like be able to survive on your canned food for the next two years during the nuclear winter the old cans look cooler though I got to tell you the bud lights and the cores that like everything looked cooler back then yeah they got to bring those cans back hyphids you know what you know what the thing that stood out to me because I watched madman late obviously not it's not as late as you but the why obviously because I watch everything late oh I'm always like two years behind on you text to us that Barbie was good like to Barbie Barbie was awesome um there was one scene where they where uh draper in his family do like a little picnic on the side of the road and then when they get up they just shake their blanket all the garbage just goes everywhere they just leave it just leave it oh it's like disgusted we just leave all the garbage just shaking the garbage in this field didn't even look behind that christ but I'm like that's kind of how it was back then you know who cares you could die at any moment I know there literally is no tomorrow start in your life yeah okay thank you dk thank you crack thank you uh don't rape or met actually no sorry scream don't rape or this is your fault that my father doesn't drink water um emails to your fantasy football gmail.com um for more funny names and baseball old timey baseball players and also just other things boomers don't do or drink water all that stuff uh yeah thank you lord lord thank you rjd2 oh also did you come and karlison kai and everyone sorry dk for that oh that's okay yeah thank you to them um this is the the artist that does the madman theme song which is a great theme song rd who it's rjd2 aka ramble john crone it is it is a good theme song it's like such an iconic intro yeah yeah and following uh fantastic they don't make theme songs like they used to most recent bang or a succession that's a great one oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah man you know what was ahead of their time scrubs the 15 second intro it's like a really short intro it's like really bad had a really short one oh yeah breaking back yeah four day like alternated sometimes they have like a long one sometimes they have a short one well they have the little like little chemical elements and people's names which i'd fucking loved yeah surprise i was thinking about this one the other day remember the intro to weeds little boxes never watch weeds oh really no season one and especially season two of white lotus ripped oh my god well the season three was a catastrophe because that got left they got the composer and micwight apparently didn't get along this whole thing but well they should have broke up like white wanted to change it i'm like did season two of white lotus that intro song was was uh because they basically took the season one one and added a beat to it and they were playing that like in bars for a full year dude just like that yeah i feel like i'm there pretty yeah yeah you do the john john happy yeah you're like goodbye everyone you must be 21 plus in present and select states for Kansas in affiliation with Kansas star casino or
