1157: Kicking off the PGA at Aronimink

•May 13, 202617 days agoSummary
No Laying Up hosts break down the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club near Philadelphia, discussing course setup, player form, and the controversial golf ball rollback rule. The episode covers on-site observations, player pairings, and predictions while addressing broader issues in professional golf including distance regulation and the PGA Tour's identity.
Insights
- The PGA Championship's identity crisis stems from lack of institutional knowledge advantage—new venues level the playing field compared to traditional rotational majors, potentially benefiting players like Scottie Scheffler who struggle at unfamiliar courses
- The proposed 2030 golf ball rollback testing standard may fail to address distance problems as intended; high-spin players like Cam Young can maintain distance under new parameters while lower-spin players face disadvantages, potentially worsening rather than solving the issue
- Course setup strategy matters more than equipment—firm greens with strategic pin placements create meaningful risk-reward scenarios, but soft conditions negate fairway accuracy advantages and reward 'bomb and gouge' strategies
- The PGA of America's operational challenges (parking, logistics, shared tee boxes) contrast with strong on-site fan experience, suggesting venue selection prioritizes viewing experience over infrastructure efficiency
- Rory McIlroy's comment that 'strategy off the tee is basically non-existent' reflects broader concern that modern course design and equipment have eliminated mid-iron play and tactical decision-making from professional golf

Quotes
"Strategy off the tee is pretty non-existent. It's basically bash driver down there and then figure it out from there."
Rory McIlroy•Press conference discussion
"I put it in play the same reason that everybody else plays the ball that they play. I hit it during a ball test and didn't know anything about it."
Cameron Young•Press conference on non-conforming golf ball
"If you look at this golf course when it's firm, the fairways are hard to hit. And then if you're going to want to get the ball close to a lot of these pins, you're going to have to be able to control your spin and control your distance really well."
Scottie Scheffler•Press conference on course conditions
"Pace of play is going to be a disaster. This stretch of the golf course is going to be really tough."
Rory McIlroy•Observed during practice round on holes 14-15
"I think the environment is going to be awesome out there. The holes are so close together. There's just great opportunity for a lot of noise to travel to that property."
Solly Gagnon•Course observations discussion

The right club. Be the right club today. That's better than most. That is better than most. Better than most. Expect anything different. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the no laying up podcast live here at the PGA championship. Somewhat close to PGA championship. Actually about an hour and a half away based on the commute times that we've had here brought to you, of course, by our friends at title list. I am solid ready to kick off the second men's major championship of the year. We are going to be joined here shortly by our guy, Icarita. He's actually been coming through that door right over my shoulder here. Very, very shortly like the Kool-Aid man. But joining me from Pona, from Jacksonville Beach, I guess, technically Mr. TC. Hello, TC. Hey, Sally. The long guys just got it. It's a disaster. But go birds. TC was up here with us. We had a great event here here in Philly last last last night and we will talk a little bit about that later on. DJ Pi is here as well from Wisconsin. Hello, Pi man. Hello, guys. Good to be with you. I'm excited, man. I think we got a good week ahead. Good week ahead. I think it's going to be spending the day out there today was a reminder of, you know, just going to see the slopes in person, see the undulation in person. Like, you know, see a little wind. Like we'll talk a little bit about that. I think they should have probably, they should have moved the tournament up to start today because that was, there were some very, very real conditions. There was sand blowing across the greens, getting in people's eyes. It was just some elements to be, to be battled today. And I hope we get a little bit of that the remainder of the week. Looks like we could get a little bit, not, not maybe not as strong as today, but we're going to get a little bit of that. But big day, massive day. If you haven't heard, titleist, new tour proven GTS drivers now available for fittings and for pre-sale. GTS is designed with a round, complete driver performance, speed, stability, consistency, all about giving you more confidence off the tee. The lineup is packed with new tech like split mass frame constructions and dual waiting systems across each of the three new models. There's the GTS two, which is built for speed and consistency across the club face with high launch and mid spin GTS three, which launches lower and spins. Sorry, lowers launch and spin compared to the two than the GTS four, your lowest launching lowest spinning option in the family. DJ, we just posted a little video of your fitting in there. What did you end up in? And what do you see in that? I ended up in the GTS two. I went in, I said, give me all the tech, give me the, give me weights, give me, you know, forgiveness, give me stability, give me all of it. And they delivered. I can report. Saw you looking for wind. We've got it in Milwaukee, Wisconsin today. We went out and went out and played this morning. It was super windy. And the ball is launching out of the window, keeping the spin off of it. Still getting the ball out there. It's not ballooning. You've seen me hit the balloon boy T shots out there many, many, many, many times. I was keeping it was keeping its line. It was staying a little heavy with the new GTS two, which was a thrill. Got a little more confidence on the T. It's, it's an exciting day, exciting day from our friends at tidalists. I'm still been fit for mine and I can't listen to another one of these and, uh, and not get extremely jealous, but GTS drivers will be landing in golf shops worldwide on June 11th. Go to tidalist.com to find a fitting near you. So you don't end up like me. Still waiting to get your fitting done here on, on, on launch day here on May 13th. But guys, how was the, how was the show last night? What'd you do? Oh, we had a bunch of TCs buddies here from Philly, uh, in town and we had, we had a great event, a high noon event put on, uh, at Liberty Point down by the water. Uh, did a little live show in person. Um, had a bunch of people asking questions and just hung for about three hours there down by the water. It was fantastic. Incredible turnout. Just some real golf junkies here. Love the, love the golf culture in Philadelphia in general. Um, and we got more cheers than booze last night, which I think was, was, was, uh, a surprise. Decidedly, one big takeaway, Deige, decidedly not pro Bryson crowd. And there were some predictions from the folks. I was on Monday. I was kind of like, dude, I think people are going to be cheering for him. Just like decidedly, they were booing me for that take saying like, no, Bryson's going to get it this week, which I still remain to be seen. Maybe it's kind of just the weird Venn diagram part of people that will maybe listen to our show and I'll be, end up being the biggest Bryson fans, but, uh, they were, yeah, they were saying Bryson is, is not going to win over the Philly faithful this week. Just maybe the, maybe the preeminent non-bullshitters in the world up there in Philly, you know, they, they, they much like our friends, uh, the title is GTS to, they cut right through it, man. They cut right through the wind. No spin, no anything up there in Philly, which is, which is always the thrill. It could be jarring if you're not ready for it, but it's, uh, yeah, I just feel like they're going to sniff Bryson out, but that's who knows. Yeah. They, uh, they were very, yeah, I would say not pro Bryson. They were very anti Bryson. It was very, very refreshing. Uh, what else? A lot of them just complaining bitching like crazy about Lulu doing all sorts of nefarious stuff. Yeah. So, um, I think that's, uh, I think that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that's, uh, that哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎哎 not going to do the media complain about the logistics thing. You want me to do it. You want to trap me in everyone's begging you to do it. Yeah, I'm actually talking about the golf and the golf course. I'm not going to talk about hell. Yeah. You know, the three hours I spent in vehicles today, trying to get just out to the suburbs here of Philadelphia because you know, it was a, I liked this venue a lot. It was great, great to be on site, great walking around, great connectivity between the holes. I think for people that are attending in person, it's, it's good. It's an awesome venue. A lot of the stuff that we nerd out about about the challenge of a golf course is not necessarily why a lot of people go to golf tournaments and go to see things in person. I think the environment is going to be awesome out there. Just the, all the closure, the holes are so close together. There's just great opportunity for a lot of noise to travel to that property. I love the bowl and the valley and you can, so many spots where you can see so many holes and you can just see, you can see where crowds are moving. You can see what's happening on different parts of the golf course. It's a really, really cool venue. It is just small. Like even like the media drop off areas in this tiny little gravel lot. And there's just, you know, you used to go into these tournaments that have some space on the periphery to be able to house people, get them in and out, have shuttle buses and things like that. And it's, it's a tight squeeze in there, but it's worth it to go to a place like this. Like I'd still would take this with some of the challenges over a little bit more soulless venue. Like the course we will not name. It comes up in a lot of these. Yeah. Exactly. Like the reason they go to a lot of those places is because of stuff that isn't that great to the viewing experience. And like, yeah, it makes, it makes a lot of this more challenging, but I think it's going to add to the viewing experience this week. I'm stoked. This is going to be all the PGA. Is the PGA of America paying you? Are you simping for the PGA of America? Yeah. It is like a, yeah, we talked a lot about, you know, the bad momentum they've had the bad last couple of years they've had, maybe bad last couple of decades they've had. And then you get out there and you're like, all right, well, this is still pretty freaking cool, man. Like they, they got rid, I don't know, just seeing the banners. They're giving away a major, you know? Yeah. Maybe, maybe a full major, maybe a half major, maybe a full major. Crank those lawn guys back up, TC. I'm trying to get some excitement going here. All right. This is going to be a great PGA. I did, I'm only going to be out there tomorrow and then I'm heading home Friday and I was kind of like, man, this would be a really fun one to go see all the way through to the finish on Sunday. Cause once you're there, again, everything's just contained in a tight area. Pace play is going to be tough. There's definitely some examples we can get in some of that of some, some areas where it's just not going to be, you know, it's not, things are not going to flow very well for a lot of reasons, but I, there's in Friday are going to be a bit of a slog, but I think once they get to the weekend, it's just going to be a freaking great championship. So it feels like, uh, yeah, it feels like the kind of, we've, we've caught our hand in the cookie jar on this, this take before, but it does feel like the type of championship that can build. If that's what they're into, you know, it feels like, uh, with, with the forecast, with the forecast, you're getting, it feels like I'm not going to have the fallacy of thinking that we're going to, uh, you know, thinking we're going to get some crazy six over par winner or something like that, or they're going to turn it up and there's going to be a bunch of 85s on, on Sunday. That's not going to happen, but I do think like with the wind, with the firmness, it's going to be just a really good test that probably keeps getting better and better throughout the week. You know, I think, uh, I saw poor, poor ass said this, but he was comparing it to Philly cricket club when they had the truest out there. And it was like, you know, the first couple of days you had a bunch of 64s. And then as they kind of ramped it up, like it just, it, it, it came back to earth and it, you know, the teeth start to show a little bit. And I felt, I thought that was a good take. And I could see this being a somewhat, sort of a similar week. It's a signature event week. Yeah. And it is this, it is the tale of two nines. This is going to be a, you know, a popular taken. It's going to be obvious to everyone that, that is going to be watching, but I, I started this today. I picked up Rory's group on 10 T watching them play the back nine. And it was like, dude, there's some bite out here, especially with the wind blowing how it was. Now it was blowing today in the complete opposite direction. It's scheduled to blow tomorrow, which I think is, you know, interesting, but it was just, all right, you get to, you know, all right, 11, 11 had a ton of bite today, right? And I think we are kind of, I was a little dismissive of it on Monday of like, dude, I mean, yeah, all the slopes and all this doesn't really matter. These guys with wedges and there was so much wind today on Hill, Iora who was playing in Rory's group, I hit a good shot up onto the green thought it was going to be good. And it, it did not stop rolling for like a minute. It just kept going, kept going, kept going. So are they going to lose 11? This was a big, big talking point. Guys are saying, how can we possibly keep it on this green? It's too, it's too turned up. That's where the course really starts. Yeah. They were, um, Kerry Hague was asked about this in the press conference today and he said that it is a green that is maintained at a slower speed than, uh, than the other ones that it's been maintained, uh, this whole week. And it's one that they are monitoring. So I doubt they lose 11. It was, it was blowing into and off the right today, which is assisting with balls going down that slope. And if it's going to be scheduled to be, um, so it's going to be northwest wind, north, yeah, northwest wind tomorrow, that would make it, I don't know exactly. I have to do the math. I lose direction so fast, but it won't be, it won't be, uh, you know, it won't be the same direction. It'll be able to hold that ball, uh, the balls on the green potentially better. You got to dodge some, some rain tonight, right? There's some potential for some showers. I think it was a quarter of an inch was all I saw. I saw it described as enough to, enough to wet the course, but not enough to drench it. So not something we're overly, it's not going to, like the rain tonight is not going to help, but it's not going to ruin things. It's not going to turn into a SOP fest and turn into ball in hand. So I loved, uh, on the, on the 11th, uh, just as, as Neil gets, gets settled in here, gentlemen, good to see you. Uh, as always, people should read Jeff Shackler for his newsletter, the quadrilateral, uh, especially if when he, when he's had enough of a certain talking point and as he had last night, he wrote that under the rules of golf, players are allowed to quote flight shots into 11, uh, to take off the spin and not whip it off the front. I just thought that was, but that was excellent. Excellent from the shack. This as always. The, what was, what was Carrie Higgs, uh, disposition in his presser? Uh, I read the transcript. So I, I, I saw some clips and it's, it's normal. Carrie Higgs stuff. You know, I think it's, it's pretty, he's not going to give you a lot, man. It's just, it's, there's a lot of people asking for specifics and it's a lot of like, yeah, these greens are slopey. They're slopey. You know, slope on a lot of greens we go to back to you. What do you think about trees? Yeah. I mean, there's a lot of, a lot of things you could say about trees. Fantastic place to watch golf. Yeah. I love Xander's quote about trees. I like trees. Yeah. We can, we can get into the tree discourse in a second. Neil, how are you dude? I'm good, man. I couldn't, I didn't know if you guys could hear me or not. Good being with you, Deej. Always a pleasure to be on your, on your program. Uh, listen, it was a journey getting back here. I'm sorry. I'm running a little late. Um, but miss that two o'clock shuttle. Second one didn't shut till 245. It'll cost you, man. I was sweating a little bit getting on the two o'clock shuttle, getting here for four o'clock. Uh, Neil, would you be better off commuting back home than commuting back into the city? No, it's just a parking situation. It's just, you can't, there's nowhere to park around the course. So, you know, parking at the casino. Shout out to Audubon Bispar, the king of pressure. The king of pressure is the HQ for, for all vehicles. Like no questions. We're not, we're not doing it guys. Don't bring these, anything but a bus coming down these roads. You're, get, get out of here. Um, but I mean, my first impression, uh, it's a really, um, I know it's easy on the eyes, really good looking piece of land out there. Not a big piece of land, but, uh, I was like, man, it reminded me a little bit of Southern Hills with the elevation change. And if this is anything like Southern Hills or Oak Hill, I'm going to be a happy camper. Yeah, don't care if it's 20 under or not. It looks like some, I saw some fun golf shots. You guys are just talking about 11 watching Scotty and Woodland, putt around that green, like guys worrying about getting stuck in that little swale behind that green. They're putting sideways and the ball is just taking a left turn and running out like 30, 40 feet. Um, so 11 is a great place to watch golf if you're going to the tournament. There's no grandstand there, but, uh, you could see seven green is also crazy. You can kind of see that over on the right. If you're standing behind 11, um, and you just, I think Sally was saying when I walked in, you can just kind of feel the energy of the whole back nine from a few spots right there is one of them, um, where you can get, if something's happening on 16, you're going to know about it if you're, uh, if you're anywhere on the back night, which is cool. It was, uh, the, there was a big, big backup, uh, on the back nine today. And I, uh, If I had my notes, one of the slowest paces I've ever seen for a practice round, it was like, there were like eight guys on 14. Yes. It just playing. There's like three groups just hanging out, chipping, but in Padra Karrington's just hitting like a, a billion flop shots because it was, it was wild. I've never seen groups of four. It looked like a bunch of two. Some just started joining up and it's just turned into a traffic jam. It was crazy. Rob, I caught Ram on 14, um, as he's like looking ahead to 15 T, like looking at the backup just ahead of him. He's like, pace of play is going to be a disaster. Uh, and this stretch of the golf course, he was already, he was already all worked up about, uh, about that. He was, he was with, he was playing with Pooj and the Kibbin. He was in an all, all live group. It was, it was the Legion was out in force today. That's the whole Legion, right? Yeah, it was. I hadn't been in that. Yeah, it was, was just a couple groups back. So, uh, best guys saw Matt Fitzpatrick playing solo, get some really flighty, uh, irons out there. Saw a couple of really good swings for Matthew Fitzpatrick. God, if, if the wind blows like it did today again, I'll be a very happy camper. It was whipping out there. So that was a ton of fun. Uh, and it just does DJ. It doesn't impact these guys like it impacts us, man. They're not, they're not, they're not worried about the wind like you and I were in England, man. Yeah. Different. They're a different breed. Well, it's cause there's no punishment. There's no trees. They don't have to worry about anything. They just, we just wail away on it out there, man. Of note, um, the 13th hole as we, as we noted, um, has a new drivable T box. Um, the option to move up the T, uh, to one of them Ken reports a Rory did drive it, uh, about just about 30 yards short of the green short right of it. And on hell, Iora, who was playing with the young spanner, drove it up into the green side bunker, uh, there on 13 also can report that was not from the upt. That is from the championship T in the all, all the way in the back corner of the property. I was going to say, I saw Brian Campbell hitting a couple from the upt. It looked like he just barely rolled it up to the front bunker. The other two guys did that from the back T. Um, and Well, Sally, what was, was Iora the one with the savvy? He was Iora was rocking the spirit of savvy with him. The bombing gown spirit of savvy. Uh, this, is this news to me that savvy has a clothing line? That would be news to me as well. Like he had savvy, a savvy, uh, you know, on the back on the Yoke of his shirt, as, as you're seeing here on the video and pants as well. He had savvy pants on as well. And as well as the savvy logo on his left chest as well. It does appear that there's, there's a savvy collection. Oh gosh. And yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm just, I'm taking a look at it here. They've got a website. They've got core values. The core values are authentic to golf, play with charisma, beat the past. Don't really know what that means. And together is stronger. Okay. Hi. Couldn't, couldn't agree more. They were, I overheard Rory and, and talking about, I don't think he'd ever played with on hell before. Um, and he was, you know, he just made a comment about, like, I, I've been hearing about this golf swing. I'm ready to see it and like hit the, it's a t-ball on 10. And as soon as he saw, so as soon as he hit it, he was like, yep, all right, that's the one we've been hearing about. Um, and it was, it was really cool. Like on that was very clearly like tickled to be playing in the group. He was playing with, um, Shane Lowry and Podrick were in that group as well. And it's dude, did you get to one in 10 T at all? Like, did you know it's so awkward? Oh, I mean, literally, we talked about this a little bit. I, I, I forget if we talk about it on Monday, I know I tweeted about it, but one T and 10 T overlap, like they cross each other. And 10 T, like you, there's nowhere for fans to get behind at all to watch the tee shots and 10, the actual 10th T is just free roaming area for fans out there. And so I'm guessing they have the tee time separated out by five minutes, like as far as front nine versus back nine, but you, there's just going to be guys team from one box going two different directions. So at certain times there was like eight, nine, 10 players just standing on the tee box. Like with, there was already a backup on 10 T of guys getting ready to tee off. And, uh, yeah, just a super weird crossover for a major championship to have a shared tee box, uh, between the first and, and 10th T, you know, is the first tee box that they're using. And it's, there's people that can stand just left of the sign. You can kind of see in the distance here in this image, you can stand there to watch people tee off on one. And then when it's time for people to see off on 10, they clear that out. And then you just hit it right that way. It's really bizarre. I mean, is it a whole choke point too? Because it really tough to, to, you know, get around that part of the property. It, yeah, a lot of, yeah, that's, that's a part that is, that looks quite challenging to get around. But yeah, otherwise, I mean, you know, not as much practice rounds and I'll can report back tomorrow, but not a ton of choke points. Otherwise, I think there'll be plenty of space to watch golf, good viewing, just good hills. So you can see down fairways and watch golf from a distance. I, I think the on-site experience will be good. Also, Deej, I forgot at the Ryder Cup, the food, uh, and beverages. It's free. Now, obviously it's included in the price. You're right. You see, I told myself not to say free and I said free included in the price of the ticket. It is a pleasant experience though to walk in and get a couple of hot dogs and a rice crispy treat and not have to wait in line or pull out your wallet. Like I know they're probably making, making that back in, in spades. Uh, but it's not, I got to shout out the PG of America. It's a nice, it's a nice flow to the, um, uh, fan areas. Let me put it that way. I feel like it ups everybody's mood. You know, like you're just like, oh, it's nice. It's like, okay, I'm sorry. Paid for great. I'm just going to go grab, you know, whatever. And anytime I need a water or a Pepsi, unfortunately it's Pepsi, you know, we'll go, we can go grab one. It's just, they're cold. They're right there, dude. It's great. I love it. Do you get, it's not like you got yourself a couple of little treats out there. I had a couple of rice crispy treats, Italian sausage, a hot dog. I have a happy camper. You know, I'm, I'd better fuel up for my, uh, journey home. I did not see a cheese steak. Um, you see, as always, uh, the merch tent is just, uh, massive. You know, they're, they're spinning the hottest jams in there with the DJ. So, um, you know, it's, it, the, the cam report, it has been, uh, successfully commercialized. T.C. Okay. Great. Fully realized. Yeah. Highlight of the day. I'll say this. I saw a guy kid it out in full Bryson crusher's gear hat and shirt. Just, uh, I believe this, uh, Paul fans soccer fans called full kit wanker going to the game and the, it just the full getup. I was like, damn man. I was like, I wanted to stop and ask him, what are we part of this? It was not Bryson, but it was, you know, like full. Was it like, no, it was just a random fan with his like, with a, you know, with a girlfriend. I was like, how about that getup? I, uh, I did stumble upon Bryson's range session. This was around one o'clock today. Um, and he had a guy, uh, if we had the image Cody, he had a guy filming him down the line, filming him face on a guy with an iPad and another guy there. And, uh, and his caddy, um, as he's going, he was hitting multiple different fairway woods and he was talking really quietly, but he was very clearly upset about something. And just mumbling under his breath and just, you know, like just shaking his head at whatever the equipment was and changing to the other one. He stepped away for a while. And the only thing I can make out that he said was like, I want to make myself very clear. And, and then went into like a, uh, a long discussion about exact, I don't know what it was about. I had my ear lent as far over as I could, uh, but he was not, he was not being YouTube friendly Bryson, uh, to his staff as they were figuring out and everything he was hitting was just rope hooks. The wind was off the right too. Oh, and you're seeing these rope hooks and I'm like, ooh, that's ugly. And he walked, he turned and just looks at where the guys goes, that's the one. That was the one man. I don't, I don't know about, uh, one more worried about, I know, I kind of didn't like that. Maybe, maybe we're just very clear. I'm going to be there. There's so many good things on that Monday to Wednesday that, that, you know, it's great, the press room and it's great to hear the contenders and stuff, but like some of those moments are just worth the, worth the price of admission. Sean Zock golf.com had a great piece. We just walked around. He spent the whole day. I think he followed Dustin Johnson for a whole practice round and he just kind of wrote up his observations and he, he couched it with like a lot of throat clearing where he's like, look, this can always change. You never know. Wednesday is not Thursday. Tuesday is not Thursday. Yada, yada, yada. But man, like Dustin Johnson just could not hit a driver. Like that's crazy. It's, it's a great piece. He should go read it, but he's just like, he like, he just couldn't do it. And then he's like, try to hit a three when he couldn't hit that either. And it's just, it's just the weird, the weird stuff you see as these guys are like trying to optimize, you know, before, before these big tournaments is always a, it's always fun. Sean Zuckerman Well, as any, uh, speaking of, of, of optimization, any, any notable sightings from the, the core bridge financial team, blocky or blocky was playing a fraction with Bryson. Sean Zuckerman I didn't see him really dynamic duo. Sean Zuckerman Just aura forming. Sean Zuckerman Are we, are we worried about the game growing too much? Sean Zuckerman Might be not so much contestants, but maybe part of the core bridge financial team. Sean Zuckerman JT's dad and Cam Young's dad is kind of bring your dad to work day. Sean Zuckerman Sure. Sean Zuckerman There's two or plant a practice round together. Sean Zuckerman How do we get each other out there? Sean Zuckerman Oh, I saw you. I saw you. I saw you inside the road. Sean Zuckerman You say hi. Sean Zuckerman I did try. You can totally big time. Sean Zuckerman Now I saw you on, when Rory came through what 14 of part three. Sean Zuckerman Yeah. Sean Zuckerman I saw you. I saw you walk around. Sean Zuckerman No, I had a delightful day out among the people, you know, had some great conversations. It was fun. Sean Zuckerman I know this stuff can kind of just wash over you and I, I shouldn't watch Rory hit a bunch of balls in the range today. You know, 175 balls speed with three would no problem gets driver in his hand. They got like all the, all the trackman data up on the screen. And again, assuming that flat carry means just a normal normalized carry distance. He pulls out driver is just cruising a few of them flat carry of 339 on one of the balls he hit apexing like 163 feet while putting minimal effort in. I was kind of like, all right, we're going to see a little slower speed with the toenail that he ripped off apparently and he's got going. It's like flat carry 339 on the range, not wind assisted. I'm assuming that's what that means was just like melting my brain of just, I know we see these numbers all the time, but just to see that, you know, without roll, without any wind, without elevation, without, you know, altitude, anything. And he just, just flat carrying it 339. It's like, what the fuck are you supposed to do about that? Yeah. All right. So it was not a blister. It was a toenail. Well, it's like a blister on the toenail or under the toenail. Yeah. That's, that's tough. Yeah. It looks like it was impacted in this afternoon though. No, you looked, he pulled it, it came off the golf course yesterday. If you didn't see this only played like three practice round holes yesterday, I think because the blister then went home, took the toenail off, removed his toenail, basically, I'm assuming as it taped up into a wider and bigger shoe. Better toe box. And he said it felt fine. And he looked totally fine. And I, he, yeah, he showed no signs of, of any limp or anything from the few holes that I watched him. So did you get an update on speech toe box? That was an issue last week as well. DJ, what are we doing, man? Oh, dude. No, no, no, no, no. That doesn't count. That doesn't count. Yeah. We're not saying it all week. No, we're not saying it in reference to like winning. I mean, he's still a person. No, you guys are ruining it. You missed this from last night from the show. We're going to be calling him the experience this week. Yeah. I like that. And we're not going to say the name. So no update on the toe box. No, I don't know anything about the toe box. All right. But, but yeah, where do you want to go? I got somewhere I want to go next and it's not rollback. It's rollback. All right. Spring. He's had that holster. I did. I reached back for that one. I did not have that holster. I wasn't ready for that one. Spring has kicked into full gear. Robacks got you covered. They keep coming out with new products. Our closets cannot get enough. One of our favorites is the new short, the Roback lightweight looper short. It's basically like a gym short. It's made out of material of a gym short, but it also has pockets and has the look of a golf short. It's got a stretch waist, waistband and has belt loops, but it's truly lightweight. It just feels like you're wearing gym shorts out on the golf course, but yet it has the appearance of golf shorts and is above board at even, and even the places that Neil goes in place. They come in five colors and we cannot get enough of them. They also drop boxers. They are so comfortable. They're made out of the same fabric as their performance polos. They're great for the golf course on a hot day and bring everyday comfort as well. They also have a new tailwind sports shirt. Again, another performance shirt that is looked like a dress shirt with button up. It's lightweight, very comfortable. It's going to be great for the summer. Not going to be too hot and good to wear if you want to look a little bit somewhat more formal, like a casual button down. You can throw them post around for a meal in the clubhouse or for date night and again, I'm going to shout the Highlands hoodie. This is not in the copy, but this is like my, I go looking for this in the laundry whenever this gets cleaned is one of the first things I grab and it's perfect for spring weather. So roback.com, R-H-O-B-A-C-K.com. Use code N-L-U. We'll get you 20% off your first order through the end of the week. A lot of people with the subtle dog logo. A lot of last night. So thanks everyone for supporting those that support us. Roback.com, code N-L-U. Where do you want to go next, Beach? Beach. Why don't we, why don't we talk Rory? I know we got a little bit of video, video from, from Rory's press or Cody. Why don't we dial that up? Cody, can you hear us and can you dial up some Rory video? Cody does not have headphones. If you miss Danny's, I'm not sure if it's going to test all aspects of your bag. There's going to be a lot of, you know, again, as I said, strategy off the tee is pretty non-existent. You know, it's, it's basically bash driver down there and then figure it out from there. Which I think is a lot of, a lot of these like newer, newer, newly renovated, you know, like I think about Oak Hill in 2023. Here, you know, when, when these traditional golf courses take a lot of trees out, it, yeah, it, it makes strategy not as much of a concern off the tee and then, but the greens are, you know, as I said at the start, the greens are the main focus this week. And I think getting yourself in the right sections of the greens, making sure you leave yourself below the hole for the most part. You know, that's the, you know, that's the key this week. Uh, a lot, a lot packed in there between the trees, the driver stuff, the greens. So where do you want to, where do you want to take that? What sticks out to you? Uh, it is, um, not a great thing, I think for a player of Roy's caliber to just say that, uh, the strategy off the tee is basically non-existent, but not that he said it. Like I appreciate Roy's being open and saying that. I think, uh, from a, where's the game currently situation, I just think that's not a, that's not a great thing. Strategy off the tee, I think is one of the most interesting things that come with golf. And just to hear him say out loud, just hit driver as far as you can and figure it out from there is, is not great. Uh, the tree thing is one of the things that, um, I feel like is the easiest to get really bogged down in the setup discussion. Um, if you listen to anyone involved with golf course maintenance, golf course design, uh, they'll give you the exact reasons as to why trees can be bad for golf courses, why they, they don't stop growing. They overgrow. They're, they're bad for turf. They take up all the nutrients from the turf. Uh, there's just a ton of reasons that say that, you know, especially at Donald Ross golf course like this was not originally designed to have tree line fairways. Uh, and even if you go back and look at Ariel's from pre-hance restoration, it wasn't like a tree line golf course. There was tree, there's more trees out there than that you currently have, but it was not a heavily tree golf course. It's not like Hilton head. So we, we butt up against what we butt up with a lot of the rollback conversation of, you know, yeah, Xander referenced trees as well. And J T has talked about trees and how that is introduced to strategy and introduces a lot more risk and reward off the tee. But then we just end up in the spot where we're talking about two totally different things between the professional game and the amateur game and an event that is we're having one major championship here. The rest of it is just going to be member play at Iran amic. And unless we're going to go on out and build championship golf courses that only the pros are going to play, there's always going to be a crossover between these two things. And it's not a solution to like tree line golf courses to address how far the golf ball is going is as succinct as I can be on a topic that probably requires a 30 to 45 minute discussion. Can I ask from 2018, do you remember because it sounds like they've taken trees out since the BMW was here? Is that true? I haven't noticed that. Because I was going to say, are there specific trees that were strategic before? To Roy's point, most of the tree removal was prior. 2017, I think was the big restoration. I mean, I didn't, I think to say that strategy non-existent off the tee, I think is a stretch. I will meet Roy in the middle on, I think there's a happy medium with trees. I like less tree, like strategic trees. I don't want to get rid of all trees. But so, certain holes, I think it can definitely introduce strategy. But I don't think that's like, let's just tree line fairways to limit people hitting driver. I don't think that's a good solution to our strategy off the tee discussion here. So what about the birds? Where do the birds live out there if there's no trees? So I saw them all down. Yeah, I couldn't even bring myself to speak on that topic. I think he's onto the key crux of the matter. Like again, for me, sitting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, watching this tournament on TV, what's going to be more interesting to me? Like the driver or the greens, it's the greens, right? Like the whole golf course feels like it does flow backwards from there. There's a lot of great stuff this week, kind of diving into that and what they can do if, again, if, if, if, if, if, if you get firmness, if you get wind, it can be really like it's one of the most dramatic sets of greens in the country. It can be really great for pro golf. It's just a matter of like pulling the slot machine and hoping that the right conditions kind of pop up. So I think uneven lies, I would say, was something I noticed out there. I think you guys talked about on the preview a little bit, but like Cam Young hit just a seed down the fairway, like 40, 30, 40 yards from the green. And he had a funky like balls above his feet. He's kind of like left foot below his right foot has to hit this. I don't know, like weird shot out of the rough and control his spin. And like, I don't know if that's coming through on TV, but in person, I was like, I cannot wait to watch what he does with this ball. You know, like I got to, I got to read the lie. I got to. So even with driver, you might end up with some, some funky. If you just are, if you're just going to bomb it and forget about it, these guys are good enough to obviously Cam hit like 10 feet, but it's, it still was interesting to me. I was on seven. Yeah. Yeah. That one, he hit it. I don't know. I was up by the green for that one. Like that was a, I think there is going to be some consequence to some of this, right? I watched both of those tee shots. JT cut the corner a little bit better on seven than Cam Young did. And Cam fell down into the rough. Seven is a dog leg right part of pretty hard turning par four to the right. And gravity is going to just going to pull you to the left. It's going to be kind of a hard fairway to hit a lot of balls are going to end up in the left rough there, but JT had a really nice cut and hit the middle of the fairway. He was able to spin a wedge pretty easily into the green there because it was a little helping win there. And Cam could not stop the ball as easily as JT obviously could from the rough. So again, it's not like a Beth paid situation where it like there's an advantage to being in the rough versus the fairway. Like we're definitely not at that level of the dark conversation, but it is, it just the effects of that are just not going to be really big when you have this many wedges. Like it was still going to be hard. And this was a pins and I'm ready for this pin sheet to come out. The whole locations are going to be super interesting because there are little knobs, little crevices you can put it in. And like the six holes, another short four JT drove it up 40 yards short of the green probably. And they were all practicing to a whole location that was over a big ridge on the front left part of that green that was like, dude, yeah, that's going to be a hard one to get after. Like it's even if you drive it close, that green is going to be really hard to get close and make a birdie. Parr's will be quite easy here, but it's not going to be a gimme birdie. So it's the setup, they have a chance with the setup here to make it not be and the over unders only like 13 and a half under par for the winning score, which I thought would have been like 16 and a half to be honest. Good green. Big, big boy. Parr three is a number eight. Yeah. 242 down the hill, winds whipping. I mean, these guys all put it like right just on the front edge, but it's it's still for me watching in person like fun, fun shots to watch that are like, that's why they're pros. I don't know. Because this is a course. Some sometimes I've come to these tournaments like, man, I don't know. This course looks really hard. I don't know if I want to play this one. I'm like, I can do this. Like, this is like a really fun golf course to play. So I don't know. I find that a little like relatable in a way to see them play a course that I would be fired up to play. And then yeah, then watch them chew it up is unrelatable. It is. And the greens, like again, going back to the greens, like in the, those little sections you guys are talking about, this is way too in the weeds probably. And again, this isn't going to come through on my couch in Milwaukee probably. But as you talk about the, some of those par three is again, reading Shackleford's newsletter and some other stuff this week. It's almost like the par threes are the things that you can, you can stretch out like crazy and you can stretch out to 210, 220, 230, 240. Whereas some of those par fours, it's like, well, yeah, you're supposed to be hitting a five iron into those little pockets. Whereas the par threes, you're probably, you know what I mean? Like I could see how to try to keep up. You end up just like kind of jarring things out of scale where, you know, instead, these guys are hitting wedges into the places where they're supposed to hit five irons because there's just no more room. And then you're taking some of these par threes and you're just stretching them into oblivion to try to make up yardage and protect stuff. And it just, I could see that being another place where, where some of this gets bumpy. But again, it's, it's like, we're really the best thing we're hoping for is kind of just a, a good leaderboard on Sunday afternoon. And I think we'll get it even through all of this stuff. So like there really is not mid iron play on this call course. I mean, five is 171 yards on the card. You know, I don't even know if that would technically count as a mid iron. I think that's probably closer to a short iron for most of these guys. And the part, the other par threes are all going to be longer irons. And none, almost none of the par fours are going to, uh, I was reading the data golf blog, they were talking about Bryson was hitting a bunch of eight irons on the range. And they're like, I don't know what hole he's hitting eight iron. Which he won't need. Yeah. Yeah. That's really nice here. Technically, if Bryson's working on a specific club, it does it like, it's the same length as his other great point. That could have been him working on his wedges. Yeah. He was hitting driving irons too. And I'm like, dude, what hole are you hitting driving iron on, on this course? Like Bryce needs like seven clubs for this course, I think. Let me play this. This, there's another good bite from Scotty here. Scotty rules. I continue to be in on Scotty's pressers. Expectations. Do you have, um, at a PGA championship, not, not your expectations, but what, what kind of expectations of the test that the PGA presents? Like how would that differ, for example, from, from the U S open, the other course that, you know, that rotates quite a bit. I mean, I think a lot of it depends on the golf course. A lot of it depends on the conditions. Cause if, like, if you look at this golf course specifically, between it being soft and firm, I think it's two totally different tests. Like if you're looking at this golf course, when it's soft, I think there's a lot of stuff you can kind of get away with in terms of like, you can hit it pretty far offline. There's not many things to block you. And if you hit it really far offline, when there's no trees, you can just get to the crowd and then you have a cleaner lie than if you're, you know, yard or two off the fairway. And then with soft greens, you're able to play a pretty simple strategy of golf where you can kind of play that sort of bomb and gouge type strategy. And that, that's probably what works best because when you have greens that have a ton of pitch back to front, they're really soft. It's also easier to take off spin when you're in the rough. And so the reward for hitting the fairway is not that great. But if you look at this golf course, when it's firm, the fairways are hard to hit. And then if you're going to want to get the ball close to a lot of these pins, you're going to have to be able to control your spin and control your distance really well, which is not that easy to do out of the rough. It's easy to take off spin, but it's not easy to control the spin, if that makes sense. And so there are certain spots on this golf course where I think you can get really challenging if it's firm and fast. And a lot of it just depends on conditions and golf course setup. If they decide to water the greens, it's going to be completely different setup than it is if the greens are quite firm. So a lot of it is golf course dependent. I wouldn't say it's necessarily major dependent just because I think most golf courses are trying to make it as hard as possible these days. It's just kind of like the, the explanation that I feel like we try to come into all these majors with. It's better than I ever could. He had some good stuff too. I know he's been a little, a little snippy with, with the media recently. And he was kind of saying, he's like, man, when we're in like a setting like this, it's very easy for me to just like sit, think about what I'm trying to say and, and give a good answer and think as hard as I can to give the best answer, most honest answer possible. And I don't know if he quite got there, but I think what he was implying is like, it's a little hard to like walk off the 18th green and be like, what do you, how do you think they should fold the live guys back in? He's just like, I'm like, what dude? I'm just, I just got done with like five hours of mental, you know, mental stress on the golf course. Like I'm not talking about that right now. So I just, I was a little short with you a couple of weeks ago. All right. Yeah. So I just, I want to celebrate that because I think that's a very fair, very fair place to be. Yeah. No, I think it, yeah. He described it well and I he's getting up to it and I don't think like we're at risk where the golf course is sitting now. They're going to dump a bunch of water on it. I think they, they know it. There's water scheduled to come one and two. It's, they know that this is the only chance they have is to, is to, I don't want to say push this thing as hard as it can, but they, they know those greens have to be as firm as possible for this to be even remotely, remotely interesting. A lot of chatter about that weather report tonight, Deige. No, we need it. We need it. I also, this is my interpretation, not Scottie's intent necessarily, but man, I hope some of those comments are a little shot at Augusta as well. Yes. That was my first thought too. And also a warning shot at, at Kerry Hague of like, yeah. Well, if they want to be bitches and take it out of my hands, then they're welcome to do that, but exactly. Yeah. Yeah. That was, I don't know. That's good. It's, the more you see this, the more it's like you start getting the whole checkbox going of like, all right, you need to, you need to hit your driver this far. You need to be accurate with the driver if the conditions are right, but also if the conditions aren't right, like you still just got to hit it far, small sections on greens, got to be a good lag putter. Got to be, I'm like, the wind might blow. I'm like, God, it's feeling more and more like a Scottie week to me, but I suppose we'll get there. And it is this week. There's not as much like institutional knowledge required though either. I do think it's that levels the playing field a little bit versus going back to a place that, you know, the veterans have seen one, two, three times prior or, you know, every year. So I think that that may level the playing field a tad and just, what, let me knock on Scottie is he's always struggled to win his first time seeing a place. So, you know, watch this space. I was in Port Rush, of course. Give me the, what's the case for like why it's not Rory Scottie cam young versus the field this week. Cause Ludwig wins. Oh, sure. Ludwig, not going to, what did you say? I'm not going to fluff up, but I think he can read what like solid. I mean, just going off of solid data, I think he's like the second or 30. Oh, now we want to gain it. Yeah. The last 20, 20 rounds or so. So no, I'm just, I'm throwing your data right back in your face. You know, that's what is the data? What was the need to, I think it's just overall strokes gained over the last 20 rounds. He's like neck with, of course, I'm going to audit this. I would say what, what does jump off the page is if there's a ton of shots between 100 and 150 yards of all the biggest name guys out there, Ludwig does get the biggest boost from that, from that area boosted, boosted. I will, I will find this data. I got it. I got it. I'm tough. Your question you just asked, like not to say this turns into like an am X, but does it turn it? Does it turn into like a guy, somebody's hot with the putter because it's a dart fest with shots from 100 to 150. Does that take some of the I was looking, looking at Fandal Dige about big guns versus the field and it was whatever the four lowest odds guys are, it's still plus odds with like Rory, Scotty, Cam, Bryce or Ram, I think were the top four odds guys, it's still plus odds on them to win versus the field. And I think that like that might be different on a longer golf course or a golf course with more mid iron play or just a more stern test because I do think that everyone is not, not literally everyone, but a lot more guys are in play this week than on a normal week, I would say. So the, the stat was strokes, game leaders last 20 rounds played going into the PGA championship. Scotty has been displaced by Cam Young, 3.2, Scotty 2.8, Ludwig 2.6, Rory 2.6. John, Ron, I think that's in the same way. There you have it, TC. Yeah. Yeah, Rob 2.4. I'm told he's a dude. So dude samples are all buried around. I'm not worried about Cantley. I'm still worried. No, no, no, no, no. I'm not worried about Cantley. I was just trying to under, you know, do my due diligence and like my job to say like he is playing good golf. It's a course that, you know, I just, I could see Patrick Cantley, PGA champion at Iranamink. I just, it's not a torn, it's not a Cantley warning TC, but it's a Cantley watch. It's a worm BMW venue. It just feels like a Cantley spot. Doesn't it? It's just a conditions are, conditions are, we haven't spotted a Cantley, Flagster, Jimmy, Jimmy Walker ish. Your conditions are right for it. Missed opportunity. You know, we got the Corbidge financial guys. We could have had a carried interest pairing with, you got Xander out there with the blue L private credit logo. You got Tommy now with Blackstone and then throw, throw Cantley in there. Just, just make all the PE guys happy. Just the carried interest trio. Get your, get your cash, baby. Let's go. Guys, how was the, uh, Stanchal pairing, Dige? How was the champions dinner? I always get such a big kick out of the champions dinner. Yeah. They always had like, they have Stuart Sink is at the champions dinner and the PGA section champ as well. Is that always been the case? Yes. Why is it? Oh, because you want the senior PGA? Yeah. Have they always done that? Has it always been like, Rory just straight up skipped? No, they might have, they might have low turnout. So they're opening it up to the senior PGA. Let's get some other guys in the room. Get some extra food. Got a good menu this year. I don't want this to go to waste. I know it is tough. Man, I hate, I don't know. I, a lot of people build their whole year around this tournament. I, I get it, but it's the, it's tough when Xander's talking about like, yeah, I don't even remember when I served for my champion dinner. It's like two years ago. And it's, uh, it's just, yeah, man, it's, it's not quite the same, not quite the same thing. I think that there was a lot of questions. I kind of was just reading the transcript on Terry Clark meet with the media and I don't know. I think the, the PGA identity stuff is going to continue to, I don't think you can like sweep some of that stuff under the rug. There, there's been a lot of, uh, they're certainly going to try. That's what I was going to say. There's been a lot of trying of just like, no, no, no, I think it's great. There was the thing Keegan had a quote, you know, and again, these guys are like being put on the spot to come up with the answers to these questions, but it's like, what makes the PGA the PGA? And his answer was basically like, yeah, it's great. Cause like there's no identity and it just kind of like goes around and you never know what it's going to be or who's going to win. So like, yeah, I don't think that's what that word means. Uh, You can just transcript ruled this week. Well, we're some other highlights in there. Uh, curious what it's like. You go to the champion's dinner. What's that like, the gathering when you're at that thing? Keegan, it's the most spectacular day of my peak golf year. Sometimes because we're busy and we're so focused on competing and getting better. You sort of forget it. Some of the accomplishments you made in your career. When I go to the champion's dinner, I'm overwhelmed with emotion is to be in the room with these people and the way the PGA of America has done it since COVID just been the players and we've been able to really hang out, tell stories, you know, hear stories from Larry Nelson, stories from Patrick Harrington, just a great night. This is after powerpoint page. Yeah, it's great. Hey, I'm not a huge Keegan guy. I'm not going to make fun of that. That's wonderful. It's fun. A couple of strays at Mito Pereira, you know, I'm sure I'm sure Keegan. I'm sure I'm sure it helps Keegan get over the Ryder Cup as well. He spent 15 minutes in his press conference talking about, you know, getting over the Ryder Cup and if he wants to qualify for another Ryder Cup, I will let me put it. I'm going to not give him a pass on the Ryder Cup. He's he continues to be asked about it, though. So like it's not I don't think he's bringing that stuff up like let me opening remarks, guys. I'm really saying about the Ryder. Yeah, it's like, hey, Keegan, they're they're fucking shumming the waters. Do you see like he's getting asked that he doesn't have to like play ball with it, though. Well, he also doesn't he can also take responsibility for it instead of just acting like it was some force of nature that overtook his team, some active God that caused the US to lose on a whole soil coming. We could just happen like. If we get out of these contracts, yeah, one way to maybe get past the grief of this is some acceptance and some acknowledgement of how we got here. Like that would maybe help you get over this unpack the fucking suitcase. Well, God, speaking of that, I don't want to catch you on your back foot. Did you see your guy Jim in the press in the press room? I read a little bit about it. Jim Fierce was doing his Ryder Cup press conference today. Some good stuff. You know, well, it's all words. It's all words in a press conference words on a transcript at the moment. But I mean, it's a lot of what you what you'd want to hear exactly what you need to hear. Like, yes, we need to fix this. Yeah. They've acknowledged the problem, which is a step like Jay wrote about this too. I think they've acknowledged that there is a problem. Have the knowledge what the problem is? No. And that's where I was going next. We got to play better for some. You got to play better for some. Tell me you guys think you got to make more putts. Like how they're actually going to execute on that with the same group of people is remains to be seen. But at least at least like saying out loud, like, yeah, I mean, Keegan, then been, you know, hadn't been a part of Ryder Cup for 10 years. We made him captain. That was that was maybe a mistake. Jim said that today. I mean, I'm paraphrasing that, but he acknowledged like, yeah, that we need to go away from the task force. Yeah. Continuity was the theme of it. And what they'd already agreed to do. Tiger was not and they kept making references to like, you know, the tiger had vacated the potential captaincy. They didn't know what to do. Like, well, Tiger wouldn't have been continuity either. Like he wasn't there in 2021 or in 2023. That's what I was saying, TC. I totally agree. TC, they need to come up with a, like an acronym like, like cuts or something, continuity, unity, teamwork, scheme, you know, like something stupid that we can, we can like the, like all the football coaches, yeah, but but pressure, unity. Yeah. Something that something I can rally around. Come on. Yeah. I look again, it you like listen to Jim talk about it. You read about it and you do it. You must respect his dedication to like wanting to get this turned around and wanting to be involved. And he like talked about, you know, I didn't, I didn't lobby for it, but I was hoping the call would come and it did. And he's talked a lot about making more connectivity between the president's cup and the rider cup, which we've been asking for for quite some time as well. I don't know how that doesn't happen. That seems like the easiest thing in all this to do. Branson, that are on the team. Totally agree. Yeah. And that you tip your cap to him. And I sincerely hope he figures it out. And that, that doesn't mean win in 27 necessarily, but I think it, it like, even if you lose in 27, you could make a step back towards a better process to not losing embarrassingly on home soil. I think Jim, I think he's seems like a pretty humble dude. And getting a second chance at something is can a lot of times be a, you know, a huge win for somebody. Like if he's, yeah, like willing to be opened, let's get some new voices in the room. Let's, let's try some new stuff. Let's, I don't know. Okay. He didn't get new voices in the room. That's no, that is a great theory deal. I didn't hear the press conference. Well, just a litter ensured sake of the assistant captain's name so far. So he's at the, he's at the champions dinner. He's probably deleted some inside there from continuity, man continuity. I think Stu sink, uh, Stu sink and LD are playing together this week. I love it. So, you know, he could, he could maybe steal some ideas there. Uh, I could see the, um, I could see Europe trying to go really young for this Ryder Cup as well. Like Angel, I, Yorah, get him on the team, right? And, and, you know, try to, is it Angel on Hill? I keep assuming it's on Hill, but maybe it is Angel. Maybe it's Angel. I don't know. I was just reading it phonetically. Um, I welcome my role. You guys are all savvy. Maybe we'll just call them savvy. Seville. I don't know. I could see them trying to go, go super young and just, you know, kind of like maybe, maybe LD and Stu sink need to, need to play for a point this week. Sure. I think we got time to break down, uh, a dare manner, um, in the future if we'll get there, but at least at least I'm not just talking about a dare manner. I'm talking about 10, 15 years out. He's like the pit. He looks at these things in, in decades. Exactly. This is business to TC. At least I will say this, like it was, it's nice. It's very clear. Like Jim has a ton of pride about this and is going to put his, uh, you know, reputation on the line and the best players in the world choose equipment they can trust when everything's on the line. Were you insinuating that that Keegan and the U S team didn't have pride at Beth page? Cause they were being paid and all of that versus the Europeans were not being paid. I think, uh, I think a lot of Keegan's pride was wrapped up in himself, T C. I think that was, uh, that, that's, that's, that's what I'll say. Only play for you, coach Keegan. I'll only play for myself. Right. We had double wrap underneath that pride. Yeah. Uh, should we take a little cam? What do you want? No, let's, let's do, let's do, let's talk cam young before we get there and then we'll get into, we'll start, we want to say rollback. That's going to lead to rollback. We want to save that for the, for the end or dessert. Yeah. Uh, no, cause then we're going to get into picks and, and T times and all that administrative stuff. I think we're just talking new. I think we're talking news of the week still. And I think that might be like the news of the week or among the news of the week, at least, uh, from where I'm sitting. This came out yesterday, I think from golf channel, Rex Hoggard, uh, reporting that Cameron Young's golf ball that he's been using, uh, since last year at the Wyndham that we've talked about a ton. We talked about a ton in the preview, uh, changed like really, uh, led to a, a sea change in his golf game. Uh, what, there's a report that it would potentially be confirming under the new rollback rules, uh, meaning like the way that they're looking to change how they're testing golf balls, uh, for the upcoming rollback. This golf ball that KM Young is using, uh, would potentially conform underneath those rules, which I think led to a lot of people maybe getting to the point we were talking about on Sunday, TC, which is like chapter one of this conversation is should we roll back the ball or not? What's say you chapter three of this conversation is like, okay, here's the rule that they're rolling out. Does this particular rule make sense? And I think the Ryder Cup team, have we identified the problem? Yeah. Yes. I think there's a proper solution. I think there's been a lot of, uh, people talking past each other, like when the tour players come out and say, yo, yo, yo, I think what we're seeing is maybe not what people are trying to see. Some of them saying that much more condescending and abrasively than, than others. Uh, I think what they're talking about is stuff like what we, this kind of feels like the first, um, I don't know what the turn of phrase I'm looking for, like the first kind of like land post the first landmark on like, Oh, this is what the potential problem is. If all of this, you know, seems to be true on, on KM Young. So he was, uh, he was asked about this, uh, in his press conference today, I believe. So here's a snippet of that. I put it in play the same reason that everybody else plays the ball that they play. You know, I, um, I hit it during a ball test. One of title facilities probably close to two years ago and didn't know anything about it. And, um, you know, kind of just said, Hey, what's that one? Cause I like the flight. Um, and, you know, as things progressed, I, I, uh, was able to test it last year at Windham, ended up putting it in play and it's been, been there since, um, you know, uh, obviously there is no conforming lists and, um, I wasn't aware that it would have, you know, I suppose I read something that said it passed that test. Um, but I hadn't, wasn't aware of that until very recently. So at no point, um, was that a consideration? It was just really me, you know, trying to optimize my golf and, um, it's the ball that seems to work the best for me. Did you compare, compared to other balls you've tested, was there a noticeable distance, um, loss with it? Um, not, not particularly. I mean, it's, I don't think any of us are really out here playing the ball that goes the farthest. Um, you know, I think you'd struggle to find a single person that's doing that. So, you know, we're all sacrificing some amount of distance for other things that we feel are worth it, you know, control with irons, control with wedges. Um, for me, that's the biggest thing is, is being able to control spin. And, um, this is the ball that does that the best for me. Shactus getting involved. Yeah, a lot of shack, shack. Off the, uh, the top though, it's like, Hey, what's that? What's like, that's yellow cake over there. Like two years ago, I just, it's like, yeah, the double dodges laying over there. Hey, what's that one? What's that ball? Check it out. Yeah. Why don't you try it? What's this? What's this do? Again, just clarifying all the language around this and what is happening and, and, and what came out today, I guess is or yesterday that there is going to be, it's, it's looking like it's going to be announced. It's rolling back to 2030, a world where there's a new testing standard in play for golf balls in which, uh, golf balls will be tested at a higher speed, different launch, different, uh, spin rate than they're currently being tested at. And the ball's not allowed to travel, travel more than 317 yards. So in theory on paper, you would look at this and say, all right, we're now testing at 125 mile an hour swing speed versus 120 and the ball still, you know, can't go the same distance. It's 317 plus a plus or minus three yards of tolerance there basically is saying that on paper, that would say the golf ball is not going to go as far. Like that's, that's the golf ball will be rolled back. This is all tested on robots. Uh, kind of what we have been hinting at and discussing and, and been insinuating and have been hearing from a lot of people is that when the humans hit this, the human element getting added in here of being able to tweak a lot of other things to optimize your launch, optimize your spin. And I don't know the literal actual things that they're doing to, I say circumvent this test, but that is, you know, they're not, that sounds shady when you say that, but really you're able to, players have shown the ability privately to get a, to get distance back relatively easily. And there's not been a flat distance tax being paid under the new testing standard, right? You can, you can, um, players, especially they're not currently optimized under their setting have the ability to probably hit it just as far as cam, is evidencing specifically high spin players, specifically high spin players, jam young, high launch, high spin players, highest, highest spin guy you're going to find. So he can put a ball in this, this double dot golf ball would technically pass the test of being swung at 125 miles an hour at blah, blah, blah, launch and blah, blah, blah, spin would pass that future test and obviously would pass the current one, which is slower. Um, and he's not hitting it any distance shorter is what we have been saying of is this rule, how it's written the best way to address the golf ball going far. And why we've been quite suspect of the way it's written is like, yeah, there's, uh, there's other data out there that supports this to say like, this might make the problem worse. Um, so it's put us in an awkward spot where it's like, we're pro wanting to do something about distance and golf. I think this, even if this rule worked as the way they intended, it still wouldn't dress the majority of the problem in my opinion of what I think needs to be done. Uh, but if it addresses almost none of it or makes the problem worse, then we are potentially headed towards somewhat of a disaster, I would say. Um, and I don't know how things go through as planned as it, as they're currently written because they're going to spend a ton of political capital and it's not going to have the impact that they were maybe at one point hoping and it, it's going to be, it could be a complete disaster if we're being honest. Uh, yeah. I think that, I think that bottom lines it. Uh, it's, yeah, I said this is just the first mile marker on that road. Yeah. Yeah. And I think that's kind of what I was trying to say on Sunday on the pod too is like for the last three years where we've been talking about this, you're in a weird spot where you're like, no, something needs to be done guys. Distance is a problem. Yeah. Like everything is, is out of whack and players are hitting the ball too far. Not according to the people in my replies. Sure. Uh, having said that TC, it's, it's kind of where it becomes like you start to get the very loud voices early that are like, this isn't going to do what you think it is. Yada, yada, yada. And I'm like, well, shit, man, I don't know. I'm not a rocket scientist on this. Like, I don't know how it's supposed to work. You got to just kind of trust the people who are in charge of making the rule. And if this is a V outcome that ends up coming from all of this stuff, then like you said, sorry, it's, I think you only get one bite at this. Uh, you know, I don't think you, I don't think you roll it back in 2030 and then you do it again in 2032 because that one didn't work. And then you do the driver two years later. Yeah, just, yeah, exactly. It just feels like it's, I don't know, just kind of let's air out of the balloon for those of us that are hoping to see meaningful change, I guess. And, and it's at the same time, it's like, you don't want to have a bad rule just to do something. So it's just, I don't know. We don't, again, we don't have to spend an hour talking about today. I know it's PJ championship, but it is a meaningful story that I think people are going to continue to come back to over and over and over as they already did. Cam hit the ball 375 yards on the 18th hole at, uh, at the player's championship and sea level when it mattered the most. I mean, it was just like, if that's where we're headed in, in 2030, I know that's an outlier situation, but it's, uh, it's just, this is a, this is big flashing red lights, like a big deal. I think it's an outlier situation, but it's also, and again, we're, we'll pull the name Russell Henley. And I don't know this to be true from Russell Henley's testing, but like Russell Henley's profile is going to pay a driving distance tax in theory based on, uh, on like what we've heard of not being high launch, high spin, like what they, the desired effect of, of the test is going to hurt Russ Henley and not hurt Cam Young, then it's just going to, like, it's just going to like increase the, the, the chase for distance, uh, more than ever. And that's, that's again, that that's where like the, the, the romantic version of a rollback that is harder to write than we would, uh, you know, say out loud here is going to involve a lot more about the balance of risk reward of hitting it far. Um, and this, this rule was never designed to address that, which is why I think my stance, I've been pretty consistent with a lot of your stances is like, this is still a good first step, like still think a good well struck drive shouldn't travel as far as it does is a part of the equation. But I think the bigger part of that puzzle is, is other factors that weren't even going to be addressed with this single rule. But if you screw this up, the hope for addressing the rest of it becomes a lot lower. I think the PGA or the, uh, the, uh, us G A needs to hire, hire some baller ass engineers. Like I hire one of the guys that's doing the, doing the R and D on the ball side. Like, hey, come on, come on over to our side and help us reverse engineer this stuff. Just grow the rough up guys. That's, that's all I think I'm going back to the simplest answer. Let's just, let's talk about the teas, man. Let's, let's get rid of the teas, Dige. I was thinking about that today. Tuesday. No, I was thinking about baseball a little bit. It's like, well, it kind of came down. Baseball struggle. What if we just introduce a pitch clock? Yeah. Like what if we, they also mess with the ball? They, they, the impulse is good here. Tennis messes with the ball, uh, swimming outlawed the suits. It's like other sports like govern and regulate themselves. Why is golf in game? I mean, the NFL changes the rules all the time. Yeah. And listen, I know then like all the make different clubs that you can get off the ground further, but it's like, okay, like maybe, but maybe that gives you, maybe that buys you some time. I'm like, Hey guys, check it out. 2030. You can't tee the ball up. We're being, you're playing with 280 local drivers. Yeah. No, no, no, no, don't mess with any of the equipment just because then that's when it gets political and you get to buy vacation and yeah. It's like, no, no, no, it's the, you know, I hope sorry to the T lobby out there and put them on down slopes. You know, yeah. Just varying degrees. Now you're, now you're belittling my cake. I'm not. Oh, I think it's a good take. Like just, I mean, maybe just don't let him hit up on it as much. By the way, Neil, yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Like, you see that usg a tweet today that Randy sent through a little bit ago. If you're ball, like if you're teed up in the teeing area and you hit the ball off a tree and it comes back and it lands and stays in the teeing area, you can tee up your next shot. Yeah. Yeah. It's a good old pod popping. I put that one on the list for my guy, Jay. I also would just, just while we're shouting on ideas, face explosion is the other thing that face claps is something that feels like it's lost momentum, but we need to, we need to bring back. That was, that was a piece of the idea. It was face collapse. No, I think the T idea is my platform. I'm totally with you. Model local rule. If you're playing in a PGH or section of that, you can't use a T that's the whole thing. Right? Like we're talking about the 31,000, the club bros, are they going to enforce all these rules? Like, well, yeah, I don't know. If you're playing in a lead event, you can't use a T that's a pretty, you make a grass tea. It's pretty simple. Right? So you can make a grass tea. That's fine. Well, there's little things that they used to play. You can make a dirt tea. Maybe the dirt teams come back. I don't know. Like sure. I just don't think you can have like a four inch T that you're hitting up on it like crazy. I don't know. Let's move on. Let's go. I can see the RNA getting down with that. I agree. Well, or Ridley, failure is not an option, man. Yeah. Was that the quote? And I am left to like think back on like Ridley. Like Ridley's presser and the strong endorsement this past year for this rule. I'm looking at that through a different lens now of like, you know, what's the communication like between USGA RNA and Augusta? Like if the USGA and RNA knew some of this information, which I believe has been provided to them and the PGA tour has told them this. I know equipment companies have told them like, here's what we're seeing and testing. And like, I don't know if Ridley going back would like give a strong of an endorsement of the rollback. If he, if it was going to maybe come out like this, just something to Well, I think that's the hard part. Like the chapter one, chapter three thing is like, obviously he's a very smart guy and very plugged into these conversations and knows all of what's going on here. But it was almost like the conversation he was having was like step one of the conversation. Like we should make it spin more. We should make it do this. We should bring back shop making. It's like, yeah, man, sick. All that sounds great. But like, that's not what's being discussed at all. And that's where I'm like, I don't know quite how, I don't know what the capacity is now to put the genie back in the bottle and be like, okay, let's go back to the drawing board on this whole, this whole thing and, and, you know, bring back shop making. I'm like, I kind of see the process longer and straighter. The whole process doesn't feel like it's been a model of alignment amongst the various parties and stakeholders. And I think too, it's like, it does seem like, you know, everybody just kind of put it off to the side and the USDA kept working on it. And then they were like, all right, cool. Like the review period's over. Like you guys had your chance to, to comment here. And also, nobody did. Yeah. Well, I think, yeah, I think the beef is, there was a comment period they commented, but like the comment period didn't include the actual like testing standard. And then the, they were like, you know, when, when given feedback of like what that on that testing standard being a problem, they're like, Oh, I'm up too late. We've already set the testing standard. Like that's kind of where some of the miscommunication has come in. But anyway, let's get back to the golf. Let's get back to the, the, the 2026 PGA. Enjoy the golf, everybody. Stick to the golf guys, would you? Hey, did you guys see Lady J out there today? Yes, yes. She had like some boots on some of all black fit boots, just platinum hair. Put a boot in your ass. Your queen, TC. She was getting deep in her yardage book. Yeah. She was absolutely stunting in the middle of 12 fairway here. Makes it, you know, again, Kessler Crane is in shorts and short sleeves and she's in a black puff jacket, standing right next to each other. It looks like a Monkler jacket. It was not necessary to have been that, but she was stunting hard. She was, you know, it rules. It's about the fit here a lot more than it is about comfort. And I gotta say, she was pulling off the look. For sure. Reed paired with Emiliano Griot and Pearson Cootie. That feels unbecoming for a great man like Patrick. Meanwhile, blocky gets with DJ and, you know, blocky gets a premier pairing and, you know, DJ and Rasmus Hoygard. TC, you're in. You're in on blocky though. Yeah. Remember, we're in on blocky. What are you doing that? Come on. Yeah. We've been getting all five. Yeah. I forgot. I forgot a lot of blocky stuff. Oh, yeah. Yeah. On the ground today. A lot of blocky stuff on the ground. Any other tea times sticking out to you guys? Neil, our guy Harry Hall, our guy Harry Hall's tea office, six 56 a.m. That's not a side of disrespect. Yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you who I would watch. Akshay, Ricky Castillo and Michael Thorpe. Bjornsson. Sure. I think this is a good, good golf course for Michael Thorpe. Bjornsson. Seems like it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I would watch that one. Also, we talked about it on Monday, but just forgot man would love to golf was, golf was fun there around, you know, end of that West Coast swing Bay Hill. Like I'm in on watching Akshay every week. I just feel like he's been MIA. Same with kind of Bridgeman. Yeah. Bridgeman's kind of evaporated too. He's been back. Uh, guys, the 143 off of one. Real quick though, TC Bridgeman is another guy that jumps off the page on the 100 to 150 stat of that being an absolute strength for him. And this, this golf course, the bins are in the Bridgeman favor here coming to this week. Just pointing that out. Who's on the reverse? Who's going to get binned Bryson Bryson Bryson getting binned and like compared to his other skill areas, Scotty a little bit is, is taking a bit. I mean, he's not a bad player from 100 to 150, but like he makes up his ground from farther away. Usually. Um, I think the 143 starting time off of hole one. Chris Goderup, big shot, Bob McIntyre. And Thomas Fleetwood. God, you just seem a good one. Or D.H. like, Hey, Tron Carter's going to like this one. It's the one. He doesn't like Tommy this week. He doesn't like Tommy this week though. It's not that I don't like Tommy. I'm just not going to, when I'm doing that this week, I hope Tommy wins so badly. It'd be great if you're going to miss it. You're going to miss it. You won't be able to celebrate. I'm not missing it. You know how much equity I have tied up in this solid. Um, 154 starting time. I think this one's, this one's maybe the nepotism pairing. You've got three guys whose fathers are PGA of America. Bring your father to work day. Cameron Young, Keegan Bradley, Justin Thomas. I love it. Watch, would watch that group. Scotty's with a couple Englishmen. Yeah. Fits and Justin Rose. Scotty and Randy trying to fend off to English. I feel like, I think Scotty might push those guys around a little bit. We'll see. Team Rose had what 30 clubs between, he had two bags up. He had a good, he had a good presser. Uh, you know, I know he's obviously trying to get out ahead of the, the iron's thing and like, no, no, no, it's not the irons. That's not why I'm, that's not why I'm in my irons. Bad. Uh, he was talking about like the letdown after Augusta and just as thoughtful as always, but just how sometimes it's like, uh, you know, it's hard to process those things. Like you get out of your routine, you know, you start doing the things that you do well. You go home and as you're trying to just kind of digest everything that happened, like you, you fall off in some areas. Uh, I thought it was, it sounds like me on the, the, uh, heritage podcast, you know, it's just a letdown after Augusta a little bit. I was like, was it my best stuff? I don't know. You know, it's just, it's tough. Was it my irons good that week, Deige? That's right. Sound like you're hitting your irons good this week up at your qualifier. I was, I was sloppy cuts everywhere, baby. I love it. Uh, what else we got for tea times? Anything else? Interesting. I mean, you mentioned blocky Rasmus, Hoygarden, Dustin Johnson. I think we know where he's going to be. Yeah. I think we can mention Rory, Ron and the experience, uh, going off together at 840 off the 10 T tomorrow. So does the experience deserve that tea time with Rory and Ron right now? He's going for the career slam, man. That's true. Why wouldn't he? It's my favorite player. And I, I even, I forget that that's on the, on the line this week. Oh, we got to talk about that last night. We just don't, we don't bring that up enough this time of year because it's been going on for so long, but it, it, as much as we kind of poo poo his chances, like again, there's only a few PGA championship courses that could make sense for him to do it. And this would be one of them. The forum is still, you know, up in the air, and he's close. I feel, I feel differently about his chances than I did on Monday. I'll say that. You must be working on, on one of those templates he was talking about with the swing templates and that one is all swing fields. He's got to get back to his DNA. DNA. Yeah. These are the DNA that makes my swing. If it helps, he had a very 2013 Jordan white belt on outfit. You know what? I didn't never thought of him like, like a 12 year old again. We, we're, gosh, we're getting old enough now that the white belts got to be kind of circling back into fashion here pretty soon. Baggy pants. Yeah. Keep, keep that on your radar. We need a, we're close to needing like a, like a 2014 throwback tournament. You know, we're getting, it sounds really recent, but it's kind of far enough away. Like Rory wearing his whole retro Rory wearing his Hollywood and the blueberry outfit. Exactly. That suntan shirt. Think about, yeah, I think about Brooks could pull off. Jesus. We got Wyndham, Cam Smith and Brian Harmon. This is on the heels of Wyndham's T mobile activation last year. When he almost decapitated a Marshall out there. Max saw the sign at the club magenta. They were having a little meet and greet. I believe today at 4pm at the club. If you're listening, do you want to check that out? You might have missed it. Saw that. Thank you, Neil. Yeah. Bryson, Ludwig and Rick. That's fun. That's great. Comfy pairing for Bryson, you know, we need Bryson involved. We need him to get off the bus. It's got to be a cool experience for Ludwig, you know, play with someone that, you know, has all that, all those high finishes and majors before turning 27, like Rick, that's just got to be a, you know, that's an honor, honor, honor, honoring pairing for Ludwig, I'd say. Xander Brooks, Tyrell, take the bait. Come on, TC. Yeah. What if that pairing with Ricky is a cautionary tale for the Ludwig? Don't be like me, Ludwig. Guys, I got some stats before we get into our picks. You, you mind if I give you my, my five favorite stats? This is from the Elias Sports Bureau. These are, these are, I went through all of them. These are, these are, these are my, these are my favorites. All right. You ready for these? Yeah. Guys, the winners of 11 of the last 12 PGA championships were ranked number one or number two in the world at some point, either before or after their victory point of this being as much as we're like, Oh, it's the PGA. It's the PGA. I don't know the PGA folk instinct. It's like dogs win the PGA. It's like big, big, big dogs win the PGA. So 11 of the last 12, 11 of the last 12 have, have been ranked one or two at some point. Do you guys know the exception? I don't know if you wrote it in the agenda. I'm not looking, but I'm trying to come up with, with the answer to that. And I don't think I, I could even name six of the last 12. So it went Jason. And when Jason did, Jimmy Walker, Jimmy Walker. Yeah. Damn it. Big Tex. Well, what I was going to say is that doesn't line up a ton with like my childhood memories of it. Like why Yang, Duffner and McKeel. It's like rich beam. It's like just, oh my God, every man here and Keegan, first time he's ever played a major and now all of a sudden now it's dogs. Yeah. It's interesting. It is interesting. I mean, I think the open is, has a little bit of that as well. It's been a dog run. It's just in majors. The best players are the best for the last 10 years, you know. Yeah. It's, there's no fakers anymore. So that, I thought illustrative. Speaking of Sean McKeel, I just, every time he pops up in that champions dinner video or photo every single year, I think it's Brett Baer from Fox News. It does look like it. They look, it's just. Yeah. Yeah. Similar, similar geometry. You go back even farther, Deige on that. I'm thinking 13 was Duffner. He would not have been top one or two, but Rory, of course, one and 12. 11 was Keegan would not be one or two, but Kimer was 10. So even a couple more in there, obviously, Y Yang at nine was not so much, but oh, eight would have been. Padraig, Padraig and oh, seven is cat. Oh, six was cat. I don't know if he ever did. I think he definitely was top four. I was Phil. Oh, six was, oh, five was Phil. Both are all right. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Number stat number two here. Again, just dogs guys. Each of the last nine PGA championships was won by a player who today has multiple major championships on their resume. Wow. Justin Thomas has famously two. Astros there. Yeah. Brooks, sure. Brooks Kepka, Colin Morikawa, Astros there. Phil Mickelson, JT again. Brooks again. Zander Shoffley and Scotty Scheffler. Dogs. Nobody's going to cheapy PGA when it being your only major. Not in the last nine years. Yeah. Yeah. Stat number three, Rory McElroy is looking to start 2026 of course by winning the first two major championships of the year. Neil, you know how many people over the last 75 years have done that? Have won the first two majors of the year? Oh, the PGA switch. So it'd be winning the Masters in the U.S. open for most of it, right? I'm going to say three people. Five people. TC. Well done. Ben Hogan did it. Arnold Palmer did it. Jack Nicklaus did it. Tiger Woods did it. And Jordan Spieth did it. Wow. Which brings me to number four. All right. You're right. I got to update my notes. Stop it, Deige. No player. I mean, this is obvious, but also like, did you really think about it for a sec? No player is one consecutive majors since the experience at the 2015 Masters in the U.S. open. No player is one back to back. People get on us for talking about the experience. I know. People are idiots. It was electric. Yeah, that's no idea. Back to back majors. Just period. Nobody's won two in a row. Yeah. Since the experience. 42 majors. Xander skipped. Yeah, he won two in the same year, but it was back to back. And Rory won the two prior to that. Yeah. Like he, that Rory and Spieth held all four majors heading into St. Andrew's in 15. Yeah. Those are PGA guys. Yeah. 42 majors have been played since then without anybody going back to back. The last time there were 10, there were at least 10 years between players winning consecutive major titles was Tom Watson's wins at the 1982 U.S. Open and Open Championship. And Nick Price's wins at the 1994 Open and PGA. So that gap was the last time there was a gap this big. Good stat there. I thought last one, just one to follow one for your little Thursday, your little Thursday bingo card. Last month, Scotty Schaeffler became the first player since World War II to go without a bogey on the final two rounds at a Masters. Good stuff there. His current bogey-free streak in major championships is 39 holes. Since 2000, only a handful of players have ever had a bogey-free streak of at least 50 holes. Well, you know, at major championships, Tiger Woods did it a couple times. The longest streak is 63 holes at a major without a bogey. Again, Scotty's currently at 39. That was during Tiger's 2000 season. Jason Day did it, 55 holes during that 2015 run between the Open and the PGA. Tom Lehman, 53 holes, the 2000 Open Championship in the PGA. Tiger did it again in 0-6 and Stuart Appleby did it in 0-1. Played 50 holes at the 0-1 Masters without making a bogey. Good stuff. So Scotty, he's got to do what? Play 11 holes and he'll get into that 50 club, which I thought was good stuff. Does he start on the front or the back? I'd like to do a little, you know, how do you do this with Mr. Randy Robles and Justin Ray? I'm like, so do you just start on the front? Where do you start with these stats? You just get, how do you go down the rabbit hole? What's the database look like? And just what's the strategy on like, okay, do you go do that by hand? Like, how do you pull this off? It's such good stats. Weirdly have some first-hand experience doing this for the brewers on a fill-in. You got to just like, you got to see stuff and then chase it down. You come up with a lot of ideas that you don't pan out. But you got to like, when you're watching coverage, you got to be like, what's that? He's made three in a row there. Okay, hold on. What can that relate to? You got to just, John Nash, look for connections. You know, you got to answer your own questions. Skill, man. It's awesome. I'd be so afraid of making a mistake. Like one mistake can tear your stat apart though. Good thing is nobody knows if you made a mistake. Nobody else is looking. Nobody else has the database, you know, but you know, which you know. Yeah. It's just, it's a lot of hustle. Once you, once you get good at using the database, it's, you know, I think, I think it's like anything else. But I wanted to, I wanted to play those out. You know, I don't know if that leads into kind of who will win, who will not win. Yeah, I think it's probably, but I thought that was some good level setting there. I think it's, I think it's time to get into that. Who wants to go first for picks? I can go first. Are we doing wait? Are we doing who will win or who will not win first? You tell me who will win. Who will win first? I watched him hit a few golf shots today. He's, he's a dude. He's part of the three headed monsters. Give me Cam young, especially if it's blowing. I think I'm going with the hot hand and I hear you on Scotty, but I feel like he's pretty cold. You said it, I think you said it on the preview pot. I was listening to the car on the way down here. Cam feels very comfortable playing good golf. Like it doesn't feel like he's, he's faking anything out there. Just the way he carries himself. I just think he's just so like outrageously confident right now that I don't think his streak is stopping this week. I think he wins. Would love to see it. Yeah. Sign me up would be great. I know no notes. Think that makes a lot of sense. Yeah. I'm not going to, not a, not a giraffe take there, but I feel I'm, I'm rooting for that too. I just don't think there's a lot of giraffes at a ronomic is you guys tell me if anybody feels differently, but I, let me let, you know, let me pick it up there because I, I giraffed at the masters. So I would, I would encourage you as you, as you get bullish on the experience, you try to elbow your way back into that party. I would go back and listen to the way I was treated when I, when I picked him at the master. It was stupid. He wasn't going to win the masters. You guys telling me how dumb it was? I would just go back and listen to that. It was dumb. He played, played pretty nice. That was a giraffe take, which means I think I got some credit in the bank here to pick Scotty Schaeffler this week, which is what I'm going to do. Yeah. Yeah. I'll, I'll just, I'll jump in here and I'll follow you right there. I have credit in the bank because I picked him at the masters and finished second and that was a good pick. He finished one shot back and You're picking Scotty at the first two master at the first two majors of the year. I might pick him for all four this year. I, I, I, I, there's still like with a great slam. I feel like once, once you've exhausted him in one major, you're done with that guy and you need to, I, I'm scarred by talking myself out of him for the PGA in the open last year, like not even considering him for either one. And just how foolish that felt to the point where I just do not want to look up and see him up by four and have regretted it. So I, I'm going Scotty. I hope it gets windy. I hope he's shaping the shape and shots, hitting into little corners. I just, I need it. Give it to me. Let's, let's, let's keep stacking them up at historical rates. Last one before he turns 30. We mentioned that in the, in the preview. He's got, you know, some, there's, there's another staff for you, Neil. You know, what is it? He joins Jack, Tiger and Bobby Jones. I think that's right. Yeah. As friends only people went five before 30. Well, TC's dog is, this is Fred's called a Bob. I'm sleeping on my feet right now. TC, who are you taking? Which one player are you taking? Yeah, I'm not going to fluff him or anything. I'm taking a lot of it. Didn't you pick him at the masters? And you just tried to make the same guy twice. Yeah. So yeah, that's obviously not a rule here. So, you don't like it. The proposed rule, but yeah, change the rule. And, and I'm picking Tommy for both Shinnecock and you're not, those will not be honored. We established that last year. Yeah. And you know, we got DJ out here fluffing the experience, finish T12 at the masters and you know, you guys would get all over me for, for fluffing somebody finishing. We are all over him. TC, we are kind of don't play live victim complex here. TC, no Ludwig, it's, it's, it's written in the stars guys. But what is written in the stars? Like what are they, what are they writing? I mean, the stroke data speaks for itself. I think he's, I think, I know, like in all seriousness, I, I think he's put into practice what he learned at the players. I think he needs to learn how to close in these big, you know, big events, similar to what he did, you know, kind of bottling it away at the masters twice now. And, and I think the, the driving seems to be improving. Like it was kind of in a funk with the driving that seems to be improving. Putter's been steadily getting better. And I think the irons are, are back to Ludwig. Level irons. So, uh, listen, he's, you know, he's racking up some experience. I think it's just a matter of if he can put that stuff into play, which I have confidence he can. Yeah. I mean, I think the experience did beat him by two at the masters, just so you know. I think back to the one, I mean, we, we, we, it's been well-documented on this podcast, another player that, you know, had a lot of close late calls and tournaments didn't get it done down the stretch and like turn things around and won a bunch of tournaments. And that was big tone. And I think there's no reason to believe that Ludwig can't, can't do the same thing. I truly believe that. I thought you guys, I mean, Ludwig, I don't think Ludwig had any problem winning. Like he won his first year on tour. So did big Tony, won Puerto Rico. Who will not win Bryson? I want to be very clear about this. Yeah. No, I was going to say Bryson too, just to a tone for betting the under it, the masters. And I think I'll regret that for, for a long time for picking person to win the masters this year. I was going to say, Rom, I don't think Rom's going to win. Let's take them both. Yeah. Yeah. Bryson and Rom. Yeah. I love that. I'll do it. Rom was who I had on my list as well. Popular pick. I could, he's going to figure it out at some point. I don't think this is Rom just forever who he is in the majors. Yeah. I just don't think it's this week, Deige. Yeah. Well, I'll ride with you guys, but I'm very nervous about it. Let me just say that if we're trying to get as close to the sun as always in this game, that's the goal. Trying to get as close to the sun as possible. I think Rom might make it a little nervy on us, but I'll, I'll ride with you guys. I'm going to say Rom Bryson, Cantley and Xander don't win. Xander is another one that just, I don't know if we've even said that name other than the champion's dinner diss and he very well could win. And he likes trees. I made a good case for him on Monday. We've talked with, yeah, this isn't the preview. We've, we previewed things on Monday. This is the catch up episode. You feel like we're caught up behind you guys? It is. It's weird weather here. Candidates today, TC. Very windy. So you feel like we've caught up officially? I think so. Just a couple, couple of things here as we head towards closing here. If you want to tune in this week, Thursday through Friday, you can turn it starting at 6 30 a.m. You'd be on ESPN plus all the way until noon. There's the broadcast plus four feature groups, the ESPN main broadcast on Thursday and Friday afternoon is noon to 8 p.m. They always do a fantastic job with those. Saturday morning, 8 to 10 a.m. on ESPN plus, then it's on ESPN from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then of course on CBS from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. And the same schedule actually on Sunday as well. So 8 to 10 on ESPN plus 10 to 1 on ESPN and then 1 to 7 on CBS. And we, of course, just worth important to mention, we did do some contract. We did do Omaha. We did Omaha. In 2023. And 2024. But yeah, we are no longer doing that, but it is important context for that conversation. So I got a couple just rumbling notes here if you'll allow me. Just some conversations I had here. This is not me reporting these things, but some things I'm hearing out there. Nuclear Golf is listening. Please do not clip this up and report this as news. But some chatter on these streets and things we picked up here that keep an eye on. I believe this to be the case. I don't think an active live player has played in a PGA tour event of any kind since live has started. And the word on the street is that is going to change this summer with the Scottish Open. And the names that are being floated out there is a large Spaniard and a more diminutive English. I believe that a legion of guys from the live series that are going to be through the DP World Tour agreement they have will be playing the Scottish Open. And of course, the Scottish Open is co-sanctioned between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. So important context. Could be interesting dynamic to see some of those guys playing in a PGA Tour. I don't know how it's going to work. I don't know if they'll get like non-number FedExCup points for playing in that or I don't know. What if they win and then they can accept membership? Yeah, that would be sick. Yeah. That's one thing. Keep an eye on also Bryson potentially looking into DP World Tour membership. Hearing Rumblings, he's going to be playing the Irish Open this year, which is at Dunebeg, which I just discovered as well, which is going to include DTE. Allegedly might be playing in the Pro-Am, which will be causing quite a security situation, I think related to that. But Bryson going to be looking to play the Irish Open as well as Summer. So that's something something interesting to keep an eye on there. And then I think this next week is going to be next, not this coming week, but next week is going to be interesting on the live front of as far as business plan presentations. I don't have that factually. This becomes a business next week. This is not factually, but within the next couple of weeks, potentially in this coming week, just to try and I know they're going to try to get off on any technicality of any reporting or any fast typists out there. But business plan presentations, going to the players with potential new contracts put in front of them with a, you know, again, potentially dialback schedule, different look, whatever that might be next year. But how that all works amongst different players and how their contracts work long term, I do not have the answers to, but might get some rumblings on that coming in the next week as well. So, I love that. Amen. And Amen and Arla were, were, were, were actually everything up. Really? Oh yeah. Epic. A lot of tweets. Yeah. Fast type is going at it. It's hard to keep track of. Yeah. Just thread these things. Just make it back and forth. Russian nesting all of. Yeah. Arla was, was really fast with the fingers until multiple people asked him like, Hey, can you, can you send me the link to the articles you were reading about everyone saying live Mexico was not going to happen? He's falling back on this like, Oh, multiple people reported, you know, multiple outlets reported live Mexico was not going to happen. That's why we said, you know, that, you know, you know, they came on the air and said, trying to will us out of existence. And everyone's like, Hey, can you, can you link those? I don't think anyone actually did. And that's when Arlo unfortunately went silent. So unfortunately, Arlo might be a flashy wide boy. Still don't know what that means. As mentioned earlier, a big thanks to our friends at high noon as well for having us out for our event last night down Liberty point here in Philly for every all the Philly faithful that came and showed up in person. That was just really, really fun. And I think we'll have the, the audio of that. We can be able to find that on the Nespod. I think in the future just teasing. If you're in the New York area, look out for an event similar event announcement Tuesday of us open week in it'll be in the New York city area. Yeah. So that was a great, great time. And we, we appreciated everyone making the effort to come out for that. And I think we're turning that into a Nespod too. So if you're not just sorry, just said that long day. Sorry about that. And if you're in New York city, No, I just said that DHG's come on. So I would also say speaking of Nespod's, if you haven't gotten a chance to listen to our, our non top 100 public golf course chat, go listen to that and then familiarize yourself with the sunny side part three of the up and up statement. Or maybe do that first and then go listen to it. Yeah. You know, you get more out of it and then vote and then vote. Yeah. Yeah. And if you want to learn more about becoming a Nes member, knowlingup.com slash join, you can learn all about the benefits of joining our membership platform, all the bonus content you get and great discounts in the shop and all kinds of great things that you have been working on there. So we are of course going to be live after every round of the upcoming PGA championship Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday somewhat shortly after play concludes, or when it starts getting boring in the early rounds is our plan. We got some logistic stuff we got to figure out for tomorrow. Cause commute types are a bit challenging, but we'll get it figured out. We'll be here as always. Cross your brain.
