Iran allows several oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, another team takeover hits Chicago, and the Olympics makes a landmark decision regarding men and women's sports. I'm Daily Wire executive editor John Bickley with Georgia Howe. It's Thursday, March 26th, this is Evening Wire. President Trump doubled down on a fixed timeline for the Iran conflict, and confirmed that the regime gave the US a present this week. Trump said today that the US still expects the Iran conflict to last four to six weeks in total, and that they were ahead of schedule. He also added, as part of ongoing discussions, the regime allowed several oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Here's the president addressing his cabinet today. They're back in to make it, yeah. They said to show you the fact that we're real and solid and we're there. We're going to let you have eight boats of oil, eight boats, eight big boats of oil. And actually, they then apologized for something they said. And they said, we're going to send two more boats and we ended up being 10 boats. Trump's special envoy, Steve Wittkopf, who's heavily involved in the negotiations, echoed the progress. He confirmed that his team had shared a 15-point peace plan with Iranian negotiators, and they weren't alone in working for peace. We have had multiple reach-outs from the region and others who want to play a role in ending this conflict peacefully. War Secretary Pete Hagseth expressed optimism for the peace process as well. We pray for a deal and we welcome a deal, and we have the ultimate dealmaker to make it happen. But in the meantime, as I said yesterday, the Department of War will continue negotiating with bombs. A military strike has created tension between the Iraqi government and Washington. Baghdad said Wednesday that a U.S. strike hit an army-based clinic in its western Anbar province, killing seven and injuring 13. Iraq called the strike heinous aggression and said it reserved the right to respond by all available means. But a spokesman for U.S. Central Command said the U.S. military did not target a military clinic in Iraq. The U.S. has been focusing on taking out Iranian-backed militias in the region. The Department of Justice has settled a lawsuit from former Trump National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Daily Wire reporter Zach Tule has more. Flynn pursued the Justice Department for $50 million in 2023. He alleged malicious prosecution and abusive process after he was caught up in the FBI's probe into the 2016 Russian collusion conspiracy. Flynn's attorney said the DOJ, quote, improperly and politically targeted Flynn over his lawful association with Trump's campaign. Flynn will receive roughly $1.2 million in the settlement. In a statement, he said that, quote, no amount of money or formal resolution can erase the pain caused by a prosecution that should never have been brought. The DOJ said the settlement is important for addressing a, quote, historic injustice. Hundreds of teens mobbed the downtown loop district of Chicago last night, causing the district's alderman to issue a 10 p.m. curfew. Daily Wire homepage editor Jordan Schroeder has more. According to witnesses and video footage, at least one man was beaten unconscious while nearby police and cruisers failed to intervene in the chaos. Multiple vehicles were destroyed and several teens were arrested. It's estimated that about 400 teens were involved. In recent years, these events referred to as takeovers have become more common. City officials are blaming social media platforms for allowing the events to go viral on their sites. In November, a 14-year-old was killed and eight other teens were injured during two separate shootings that transpired during a similar takeover of the same area. The city has not released data on the fact that the victims were killed and are not quantifying the property damage. A 25-year-old woman in Spain was euthanized today, bringing a close to a controversial case which ignited international outrage. Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler has the tragic details. Noelia Castillo-Ramos from Barcelona has been paraplegic since 2022 when she jumped from a fifth floor window. The attempt reportedly followed a period of psychological distress after she had been assaulted in a state-run facility for vulnerable youth. Her euthanasia request, first approved in 2024, set off a prolonged legal fight led by her father, who argued that her psychiatric history compromised her ability to make a fully informed decision. He appealed through every level of Spain's judicial system, ultimately taking the case to the European Court of Human Rights, but each challenge was rejected. Critics argue the case represents a cascading institutional failure. A vulnerable young woman placed in state care subjected to trauma, left with life-altering injuries, and ultimately approved for euthanasia. Almost two months after her mother disappeared, Today's show host Savannah Guthrie appeared on TV for the first time. Daily Wire reporter Lyndon Blake has more. More than 50 days after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home near Tucson, Savannah Guthrie said this morning that she believes her mother was kidnapped for ransom, and the two notes demanding Bitcoin were likely real. In her first interviews since the February abduction, Guthrie described finding signs of a forced disappearance, including propped open back doors, missing security equipment, and her mother's phone and purse left behind. She said the family quickly ruled out any theory that Nancy, who struggled to walk sometimes and relied on medication, had simply just wandered off. The family has since issued public pleas, offering a $1 million reward, and said they still need answers, even as hopes of finding her alive appeared to fade. Investigators with the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI have not announced a major break in this case. In a landmark decision, the IOC announced that men who identify as women will no longer be allowed to compete in female Olympic events. Officials say the move is based on scientific evidence showing inherent physical advantages, and it's aimed at protecting fairness, safety and the integrity of women's sports. The policy follows a nearly two year review involving medical experts, and it will include genetic screening to determine eligibility. The decision follows President Trump's push to restrict women's sports to women only. The new rules will take effect in the 2028 Summer Olympics. The EPA has moved to temporarily ease restrictions on ethanol blended fuel to combat rising gas costs. Gasoline blended with 15% ethanol called E15 is usually restricted in summer months to cut down on air pollution. The EPA is also removing all federal impediments on the sale of E10 gas. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin says his agency is working with its federal partners to reduce unnecessary costs and uncertainty and ensure that gas prices remain affordable for all Americans through the summer. Gas prices climb to a national average of nearly $4 per gallon this week, with diesel in turn jumping around 40% to an average of 537 a gallon. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is threatening to arrest federal immigration agents helping at airports during the partial government shutdown. Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Ter has more. Krasner made the remarks during a Tuesday press conference at the Philadelphia International Airport, one of roughly a dozen airports where the Trump administration has deployed ICE officers to offset TSA staffing shortages. The president cannot pardon you. I will put you in handcuffs and I will put you in a courtroom. And if necessary, I will put you in a jail cell. If you decide to make the terrazzo floor of this airport, anything like what you did in the streets of Minneapolis. Krasner urged ICE officers to, quote, keep their oath. So far in these deployments, ICE officers have been observed distributing water, assisting travelers, and helping maintain order in long lines. An ICE agent saved a baby who stopped breathing in a TSA line today. Daily Wire Assistant Editor Andy Valdes has a story. The ICE agent jumped into action at JFK International Airport in New York. DHS released video footage that shows a man holding a baby noticed something wrong with the child and begin to rush out of the crowded security line. An ICE agent noticed the emergency and sprinted over to help the man. The agent performed a Heimlich maneuver and the baby began breathing again. DHS says emergency personnel arrived and determined the little boy was, quote, healthy enough to fly. United Airlines is adding a new seating option to make long flights more comfortable for families with young children. Daily Wire Lifestyle reporter Lauren Baer has the story. The airline recently unveiled, quote, relax row, which transforms three adjacent economy seats into a live flat space. The feature announced on social media is expected to roll out in 2027. The announcement on X claims passengers will also receive a mattress pad, blanket, and two pillows, and families traveling with children will be offered a plush toy. United said the option would be available on more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft with up to 12 designated rows per plane. This is the second encouraging update from the airline, which made headlines recently when it added language to its contract of carriage, stating it may refuse to transport passengers who fail to use headphones while listening to audio or video content. Those are your drive home updates this evening. To learn more about these stories, go to dailywire.com.
