Summary

The O'Reilly Update covers a Cuban Coast Guard incident killing four Americans, federal raids on LA's school superintendent over an AI chatbot deal, Dr. Casey Means' Surgeon General confirmation hearing on vaccine policy, and commentary on migrant crime statistics and sanctuary policies.

Insights
  • Migrant crime statistics are politically contested and based on incomplete data sources (Texas only, not FBI national data), with at least 11 sanctuary states not reporting migrant crimes
  • State-level non-cooperation with federal law enforcement on migrant crime prosecution creates enforcement gaps, exemplified by San Francisco drug trafficking and Minnesota fraud cases
  • Dr. Means' confirmation testimony signals a shift toward informed consent framing on vaccines rather than direct encouragement, potentially indicating policy changes in public health messaging
  • AI implementation in large public institutions (LA school district) is attracting federal scrutiny, suggesting emerging regulatory focus on AI procurement and financial oversight in education

Bill O'Reilly here. You are listening to the O'Reilly Update. Coming up next, the news with Mike Slater. Thank you, Bill. It is Thursday, February 26, 2026. Here's what's happening today in America. Cuban Coast Guard. L.A. Superintendent Raided. Dr. Casey Means confirmation. And back to where you came from. It's all coming up, and Bill's going to be here with your message of the day. but first the cuban interior ministry admitted yesterday that a cuban coast guard vessel fired on a u.s registered speedboat killing four men aboard and wounding six other passengers according to the cuban interior ministry the speedboat passengers began shooting at the cuban coast guard vessel when it approached them wounding its commander then the fatalities occurred when the cuban ship returned fire the statement says that cuba reaffirms its determination to protect its territorial waters based on the principle that national defense is a fundamental pillar of the cuban state in safeguarding its sovereignty and ensuring stability in the region the attorney general of florida said he has ordered prosecutors to work with federal state and law enforcement partners to start an investigation he said the cuban government cannot be trusted and we will do everything in our power to hold these communists accountable the superintendent of the los angeles unified school district was the subject of multiple federal raids yesterday multiple reports confirming that authorities conducted searches in his home and office. Reports from the LA Times say that this might be related to a company that developed an AI chatbot for the LA school district, the nation's second largest school system. He was quietly run out of the Miami-Dade system after the appearance of financial impropriety. He went to LA in 2022, which makes him the longest serving superintendent of the Los Angeles schools in over two decades. President Trump's Surgeon General nominee, Dr. Casey Means finally testified before Senate committee yesterday in her attempt to be confirmed as the nation's top doctor. It was delayed because she just had a baby in October. And a back and forth between Means and Bill Cassidy, Republican senator. He's the chairman of the health, the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee. This is the one who really did not want to vote to confirm RFK Jr. But she said in the back and forth that she believes vaccines save lives, but stopped short of encouraging mothers to have their kids vaccinated against the measles and the flu. She said it was a matter for conversation and informed consent between doctors and patients. In response to Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib at the State of the Union yelling at the president the president wrote on Truth Social when you watch low IQ Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib as they screamed uncontrollably last night at the very elegant State of the Union such an important and beautiful event, they had the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people, lunatics, mentally deranged and sick, who frankly looked like they should be institutionalized. When people can behave like that, and knowing that they are crooked and corrupt politicians, so bad for our country, we should send them back to where they came from, as fast as possible. I'm Mike Slater. I have a podcast called Politics by Faith. The great Bill O'Reilly has your message of the day next. Time now for the O'Reilly Update message of the day. On this Thursday, crime is back. Undocumented migrant crime. President Trump made a huge deal about it in his address on Tuesday. The Democratic response was an oldie. Migrants commit crimes at a lower rate than U.S. citizens. So what? Even if that claim is true, which it is not, why would any country accept criminal activity from foreign nationals who have no legal right to be in that country in the first place? That's nuts. In the USA, the migrant crime stat is taken from Texas data, not FBI national statistics. Also, at least 11 states do not report migrant crimes under sanctuary policies. Here's the most vivid example I can give you. The drug trafficking in San Francisco, an enormous problem, is controlled by Honduran illegal aliens. Not only does the city fail to prosecute most drug dealers, the state of California will not cooperate with federal law enforcement to even arrest the Honduran pushers. Talk about a get out of jail free card. Same thing happened in Minnesota with the Somali thieves. No state cooperation or even investigation into the billion dollar fraud exposed by a freelance journalist. So Democrats, please spare us the propaganda about migrant criminals. It's insulting. I'm Bill O'Reilly. I approve the message by writing it. You can reach me, Bill at BillOReilly.com, Bill at BillOReilly.com, name in town if you wish to opine. Let go to the mail bud I think this is not only Trump best speech but one of the greatest in my lifetime as a military vet I may be biased but awarding the two medals of honor Medal of Freedom Purple Heart while honoring the men's gold medal winning hockey team was about as epic as it gets. All right. And that worked. All of it worked. No doubt about it. Pat Castino, UConn, Oklahoma. President Trump mentioned the record stock market, and that is true, but that will not benefit Americans until retirement or when they open up their 401ks. Many people are focusing on the cost of living now, and that's a challenge for the Republicans, that's for sure. David, concierge member, David gets direct access to me. Check that out. BillOReilly.com concierge program. They could be happy with it. It's like an insurance policy for no money. Bill, I also did not see any racism by Gavin Newsom. But it is a disaster running California because I live here. I don't disagree with that. California is a disaster. Kathy Abaklan, Champlin, Minnesota Thank you for bringing up Robert De Niro and advising the Secret Service to bring him in for questioning I appreciate you calling out how serious threats are and how dangerous the anti-Trump movement is It's dangerous, no doubt about it Matt Crowell, Irving, Texas Regarding the women's hockey team declining the invitation to the State of the Union a much less sinister reason might be they felt unwelcome. Well, then they need to grow up. Trump made a joke. Okay? Grow up. But the president said last night that they're coming to the White House and maybe that'll happen. In a moment, something you might not know. Now, the O'Reilly update brings you something you might not know. 90 years ago today, Adolf Hitler unveiled his concept for an affordable automobile. Using the same production method as Henry Ford the Nazi automobile would be fully subsidized by the Third Reich Here is the story behind the Volkswagen Beetle The Fuhrer first conceived of a Volkswagen, German for people's car, in the early 1930s. At the time, automobiles were luxuries for the very rich. Hitler envisioned an affordable vehicle for the common man. In exchange, he would get their votes. In 1937, Hitler established a company under the German labor front and commissioned engineer Ferdinand Porsche to design the Beetle. Then Hitler required each car to carry two adults, three children, and some space for storage. Because private industry could not meet Hitler's price demands, he established a state-owned car factory. The Beetle was an immediate sensation. Upon the outbreak of World War II, civilian production ceased. The factory was converted to support the German war effort, relying heavily on forced labor. During this period, the plant utilized more than 15,000 slave workers, concentration camp inmates, prisoners of war, foreign civilians, and mostly Jewish people. The Fuhrer established the same relationship it had with Volkswagen, with the following Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, and other manufacturers. When not making cars, each company helped facilitate the German war effort with machinery, munitions, parts for tanks and aircraft. And here's something else you might not know. After World War II, many of these corporations underwent denazification and in the following decades began to publicly acknowledge their wartime actions. Several have contributed to reparations for forced laborers and their families. Back in a moment. Thank you for listening to the O'Reilly Update. I am Bill O'Reilly. No spin, just facts, and always looking out for you.
