Summary

Dan Mandis discusses Trump's "Trade Over Aid" initiative to redirect U.S. foreign aid away from the United Nations toward American business interests, citing decades of failed humanitarian investments in corrupt nations. The show also covers Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's military posturing toward Iran, warning of overwhelming U.S. military superiority while signaling openness to negotiations.

Insights
  • Trump administration is fundamentally shifting U.S. foreign policy from humanitarian aid distribution through multilateral institutions to bilateral trade relationships that directly benefit American companies
  • The U.S. has spent $2.1-2.4 billion on Somalia aid alone (2023-2025) with minimal measurable outcomes, suggesting systemic inefficiency or corruption in aid distribution mechanisms
  • Military messaging toward Iran appears designed as negotiation leverage rather than genuine war preparation, combining deterrence with inducements to bring Iran to the negotiating table
  • The administration views foreign aid as a failed investment model and plans to use diplomatic channels to pressure other nations to adopt the new trade-focused approach by end of month
  • Hegseth's public statements about military dominance serve dual purposes: shaming Iranian leadership domestically while signaling to allies that U.S. military capability remains unmatched

I just wrote this is a little bit off the beaten path But there there is a lot of hand-wringing Over something that apparently Donald Trump is going to do to the United Nations. Have you heard about this, Joan? It's called the trade over aid. Oh, yeah, and So basically what's happening is that the Trump administration? This is from I got this from I think the Wall Street Journal and the Daily Mail But this is the headline Trump takes a shot at the UN as he sends blunt America first message to the world Marking a major shift in the global order and US businesses are expected to reap the benefits. Okay, I Love to hear America first This is the story because you know the United Nations they give all this money, right? They give all this money to these do you remember when Donald Trump talked about crap whole countries and He said why are we giving all of this money to these crap whole countries, but he used the sh word Because the point was that we give all of this money to these to these countries and They never get any better like never So then the question is why are we investing in the United Nations? Why are you giving all of this money all of this aid to these really, you know bad countries? corrupt rife with terrorism Why are we giving them all this money and it's a valid question So now the Trump administration is seeking to get other nations to cut back on global humanitarian aid and Promote America first values by investing in US companies according to new reports The trade over aid initiative will be an opportunity to use the United Nations system to create business opportunities for US companies per a cable sent to all US embassies and Consulates Now in the cable reviewed by the Washington Post Secretary of State Marco Rubio is now ordering all US diplomats to Issue this I think they call it a demarche an official call to action to all foreign nations by Monday That asks them to support the new initiative The US plans to introduce this idea at the UN at the end of this month according to the cable So you know how much money we give to these various nations. I'm just gonna point some out. Okay? You've got Ukraine See now realize Ukraine Even before the war was one of the most corrupt nations in the world Ukraine was I mean you probably know that Syria Yemen Sudan Afghanistan Somalia and Haiti now riddle me this What has the United Nations gotten back for the millions of dollars that we have been giving these countries? What have we gotten? Let me ask you this What is the United States gotten back for these investments in Syria Yemen Sudan Afghanistan Somalia and Haiti and these are just what seven We have gotten nothing back, but hatred from each and every one of these countries It's like House Senator Kennedy put it That's right. That's right why we have to give money to countries that hate us they should be able to hate us for free It's exactly right You know what else we get from these countries terrorism Frosters is it terrorism fraudsters? Yes Somalia is I don't even have that on my list, but you're right Sam Somalia We give aid look up how much aid we give some of the United Nations how much aid? Oh, it is on my list Somalia how much aid do we give Somalia every year? What do we get out of it? We get a bunch of Somali to come to this country and rip off the American taxpayers So the American taxpayers are getting ripped off in a couple of different ways number one because the US uses our taxpayer dollars to give to the UN who then gives it to Somalia the Somali and then come here and they rip us off with all of the all of the Medicare fraud oh my god How much do we give as just as a country under Biden fiscal year 2024? We we gave 765 million dollars to Somalia. Are you kidding me? 765 million dollars. Yeah under Biden and and and in 2025 That was that was way cut down. It was still 145 to 200 million dollars. I I say don't give them a damn thing. No Don't do not give them any more money and then the UN There oh gosh, they're requesting 852 million dollars to assist 2.4 million people in Somalia Nope, wait. How's nope wait? Do that again 2026 the UN and partners launched a humanitarian needs and response plan. Yeah requesting 852 million to assist 2.4 million people Okay, Sam can you can you could somebody do the math? So how much is that? 852 million how much is that for 2.4? How much is that per person? Because I mean that's like millions per person And and yet I guarantee we give them that 852 million It's still gonna be a crap hole and they're still gonna have their hand out There there is some fraud going on man. I'm telling you that is so I had to clarify that is specific to Somalia That is not just like a wide reaching like Movement or something that are trying to hit a bunch of countries. So yeah, we're talking I mean you're talking about tens of millions of dollars per person. I believe I mean, I can't do math on the radio. I can't do math off the radio, but 852 million dollars for 2.4 million Somalians. Are you flipping kidding me? Really? This is what we're doing now Only for them to come over here and rip off America We're we're getting weird. You know what when donald trump's next role with vernon davis the transformative journeys of athletes Artists and entrepreneurs ladies and gentlemen lights out sean meredin I want to be the biggest and the best one I do and so whatever it takes I'll get it done and business and everything else all I do is know how to fight and earn what I want my man Malik asks what actor comedian what you want to collaborate with me jamie foxley kevin hard in a movie We said it on vernon davis podcast there. So we'll circle back be like, yep It's gonna clear next role with vernon davis follow and listen on your favorite platform Then we are the laughing stock of the world. This is what he means This is precisely what he means Somalia massive famine going on millions given by the un that ended up in the hands of terrorists, right? Because I looked at I looked up some of the controversies regarding the un aid because We give this aid to these countries and you know what happens the money ends up in the hands of of terrorists or Cryptocracies, I've got some some very specific instances and this is what donald trump is saying Why are we bothering to give these these crap hole? corruptocracies money when They can hate us for free as as as senator kennedy said You'd have to be hide when to give money to Haiti or afghanistan or sudan or yemen etc So in Somalia, they do have a massive famine going on. Do you know the other thing that I would wonder? So look up I'm gonna make my point. So How much did we give Somalia the last three years combined? I just that's what I want to know, okay? it's In syria the money that the un gave ended up in the hands of bishar al-Assad Remember the oppressive regime that ended up gassing his own people And and was incredibly oppressive Afghanistan of course, I mean tim birchett has told us about this Afghanistan massive amounts of american aid From america and the un going to the taliban And there is a in iraq. There is an oil for food program Where sedam hussein took kickbacks from companies involved and sedam hussein earned billions of dollars Through that program. So how much money have we given Somalia over the last couple of years a preface this question with another question Uh, are the answer. Have you taken your blood pressure medicine this morning? No, luckily. I don't need it as of yet Oh, you might so in 2023 alone. We gave them 1.2 billion dollars So from 2023 to 2025 we have spent roughly 2.1 to 2.4 billion in us uh taxpayer funded assistance to the nation of Somalia Now let's compound that with the fraud in minnesota the potential fraud of Somalis in california At I would I would say we're looking northward of 20 billion dollars in money spent on Somali related events And you know what the the the crazy thing is? They're still dealing with famine Right, they're still dealing with the fact that they're a crap whole country. So the question is where does all that money go? because it's not like It's not going to the people of Somalia. I mean it's going to the corrupt government Perhaps it's going back into the coffers of politicians here in america It could be going to any number of places, but I mean you look at this and it's like oh my lord So I totally get why don't just going full full circle. This is why donald trump is saying we Should not be giving a bunch of money to these corrupt nations Because the un you know, I understand that they're a bunch of do-gooders But the reality is the money is a bad investment And if there's one thing that donald trump understands is its investments According to the stories the trump administration is going to say and again, this is going to be a big deal on monday For decades government aid has been flowing from developed to developing countries with only limited impact According to one of the notes the outlet obtained It has not solved the world's economic development challenges and it has often created dependency inefficiency and corruption And you know what's going to happen when this I got this out of the Daily Mail You know what's going to happen when this becomes a part of the the Main news stories of the day next week Oh the hand-wringing you you thought that it was bad when Trump came in and elan musk and they They torpedoed usa id us aid, right? Which that foods ended up in hayty So now I mean it's it's going to be like that and probably a lot worse The hand-wringing And developing countries are ready to try a new developmental aid model the the note continued The old model has been government-centered and one directional Aid flowed from donor to recipient countries the new model emphasizes mutually profitable business relationships between private sectors and countries The state department also argued that private businesses Has developed all the world's successful economies not government-aid that is absolutely true So this is going to obviously annoy the un because they're they just again a bunch of do-gooders They just like to dole out money and it makes them feel good, right? Remember we eliminated usaid. What was it like 25 billion dollars? I think it was we found all of that waste so the united nations Founded in 1961 Was also america's way to softly promote democracy around the world. Here's my next question All of the billions of dollars and probably trillions of dollars over the years Where's the democracy in afghanistan? Where's the democracy in yemen? Where's the democracy in syria? 65 years that we've had you know, we've been given money to the un promoting democracy around the world Where the hell is the democracy? Where's the democracy in the uk? It's fading fast all those muslims coming in So yeah, I agree with that. I'm realized I'm I sound like the guy in the bathrobe on the lawn. I understand that I apologize But here's get off my lawn. I know that's what I sound like We need to do a segment get off my lawn and I just need to like start launching over the stupidity that I see every day Well, then we'd have to film an intro at your house with you with the garden hose in your hand spraying the youth That stroll by on their bikes making too much noise. That would be funny actually. I've got I've got the robon I've got the exact bathrobe to do it and I'm telling you what jones jones. It's not pretty All right moving right along 722 nationals morning news on super talk. By the way the other thing about the un and what their their role is Spreading democracy I already mentioned that's a joke It's also to prevent world conflicts um, donald trump As actually prevented a whole bunch of world conflicts the un has not really penned much of a help at all And so does the un actually prevent wars? No I don't believe that they have We've had since the inception of the united nations vietnam korea the soviets invaded afghanistan that of course where osama bin laden rose to power and fame In the middle east we've had the iran iraq war that was I would that think an eight-year war? I think it was And of course now russia ukraine So the the the united nations on every metric that I can see And you'll again have the democrats and the do-gooders say oh the un they do such good work really they're great with dei Though absolutely jones. That's a great point. They're terrific with dei But I just this this whole thing is just absolutely ridiculous. I love this story I love what donald trump is going to do apparently on monday And marco rubio shocker is going to be involved in all of this and through the secretary of state Office and and I think that this is a great thing Do you know what I love about this job you tell me dan? I love working with me. Yes, okay Go ahead. I also love that I I can I can find Moments and issues Where we all as in wtn nation Can agree on stuff And you know what one of the things that that We as in all three of us here and wtn nation agree upon what's that you can't math. I can't math. Yeah I was reading all the text messages thinking at least I didn't put myself out there as a mather I didn't I I said I can't do math. So we're we're doing this whole thing about How somalia wanted like 852 million dollars and they've got a hundred and There are 1.2 million people or whatever the heck it is And I said what is that a couple million, you know dollars per person? And I'm I'm being well-danned like you wouldn't believe well dan It's only I guess what is it to 300 and people actually 55 dollars per person 350 but in in fairness to me the exchange rate. That's what I meant 200 to 203 thousand somali shillings Which is considered quite a lot of money for most people in somalia, especially outside Of ex patriots ngo's or high earning professionals in mogadishu and then they come here and they show off of us I mean, yeah, because you could steal from us. Yes, whatever. Thank you You could you can live off of 355 dollars in somalia for about one to three months or you could make one significant purchase I don't want to be buying an air fryer for a somali family. I'm sorry. Well, and here's the other thing Is that when you look at what is going on in in somalia and you look at all of the You know all of the the the terrorism that comes out of somalia Remember we talked about how the money from the un goes into somalia and then it it will go to like the farmers and the families but then the The the yeah, the pirates come in and they start shaking down the families So it's just whatever we're doing is not working and then we're talking about how, um How do I put this nicely they're not real smart out there in somalia johan. Nope and apparently I want to be sensitive But people are are saying then can you look that can you confirm for me that that is true about, uh In breeding in in somalia. Have you heard about that johan? Oh, yeah, okay So apparently there's a lot of inbreeding there, which means that there's not a lot of smart people there I'd probably be willing to bet they could do the math that I couldn't but Apparently That's a thing there But my point is okay, but then they come here. They're they're smart enough to steal from us So how dumb could they be in summary the best available genetic evidence points To roughly 40 to 50 percent of somalis Have recent ancestry from first or second cousin level relatedness lord If you're looking for health implications comparison to other nations or more specific studies feel free to provide more details All right, anyway, whatever So we can we oh, but the other thing that everybody agreed upon johan Number one, I couldn't do math but number two regardless of how bad my math thing was whatever we send to somali. It's still too much I wouldn't send them up a dollar average IQ of 68 we can also We we can also all agree that when I'm wrong I like to make fun of it and call it out just because that's what I do I I don't know if that's the smart way to do broadcasting or not, but I do it Mandus is a moron in the morning. That's exactly right. You know we ought to do We should have the mandus is a moron moment Like every morning and and and so we'll find one of these moments where clearly i'm wrong about something or I say something silly You're stupid. We just play that You know and that could be like the intro to the bit It's mandus's moronic moment of the morning and we can have like dr. Mitchell sponsor it That'd be cool. We could do it like every day. I'm sure he'd be thrilled. Whatever. Hey, uh, do you agree with president twomb? Okay We're not gonna let the show we're not gonna let the show devolve into making fun of me There's a lot going on pete hexeth jones. Yeah, so you are Watching this press conference. I want to play some audio you played a little bit of audio I want to play some audio on uh, what pete hexeth as he is giving uh details military details with um the hour taking over Of this trade of hormones and so this is going to be because i'm broadcasting I can't listen to all of this but I think I know enough to comment on it Look how well that went blasted segment. This is pete hexeth and a secretary of war Talking about what we're doing in the straight of hormones He continues to implement an iron clad blockade And ensures that our forces are maximally postured to restart combat operations Should this new iranian regime choose poorly and not agree to a deal And that is what we urged this morning that this new iranian regime choose wisely Which is where we'll start with a message to iran's military leadership I think this is what you play jone. This is rather epic To the kh Leadership and irgc leadership We're watching you Our capabilities are not the same our military and yours. Remember this is not a fair fight And we know what military assets you are moving and where you are moving them to While you are digging out Which is exactly what you're doing digging out of bombed out and devastated facilities. We are only getting stronger You are digging out your remaining launchers and missiles with no ability to replace them You have no defense industry No ability to replenish your offensive or defensive capabilities You only have what you have you know that And we know that I mean part of that is they are What's the right word? They're shaming iran to their own people I mean iran assuming the people there still have access to internet and I know that ilan musk was At one time working on getting them internet. I don't know if that is still the case But I mean that is shaming the leaders of iran And I believe that that is true. I mean I believe that iran is on their last uh on their last legs This premium leader I think only has one by the way, so he's honestly still unheard of Unheard from not heard from still quiet Yeah, thank you, jones shank that didn't I did he go back in the closet? Anyway, here is more from pdxf. You can move things around But you can't actually rebuild you can dig out for now, but you can't reconstitute but we can We are reloading with more power than ever before and better intelligence Even more importantly better intelligence than ever before as you expose yourself with your movement to our watchful eye We are locked and loaded I like that. We are locked and loaded. We got I mean was it uh washington post reporting this morning we had it yesterday that the trump administration supposedly sending 10,000 more troops to the region And a lot of that just realized a lot of that and we obviously nobody wants ground troops But I think part of that is you know some posturing On our side as well as like look You can you can try to replenish as much as you want, but we got 10,000 And we could probably find a whole lot more as well. So right now iran It'll be interesting to see if this is you know message received on your critical dual use infrastructure On your remaining power generation and on your energy industry We'd rather not have to do it But we're ready to go at the command of our president and at the push of a button This blockade which the chairman will detail this morning Is the polite way that this can go Your energy is not moving and will not move and we can do this all day But it's not destroyed yet. Your energy industry is not destroyed yet You'd like to say publicly iran that you control the Strait of Hormuz But you don't have a navy or real domain awareness. You can't control anything To be clear threatening to shoot missiles and drones At ships commercial ships that are lawfully transiting international waters. That is not control That's piracy That's terrorism Well, iran certainly knows all about terrorism. It is 745 on super talk 997 The super text line is open 615 737 9986 615 737 Wwtn very active this morning a lot of people getting the sense of humor this morning. I do appreciate that so Pete Hegseth. We're just playing, you know some audio from his now completed Press conference. He had a lot to say and you know to be honest with you I like what he is saying. I do find it rather curious As to why he would come out and do this now and and and jones I may be over my skis on this and you're always willing to tell me when I am okay But We keep hearing from the trump administration that Iran is ready to come back to the table that their economy is in tatters We've taken over the Strait of Hormuz, etc. And etc. Right. That's what we keep hearing Well, why is then Pete Hegseth going out? secretary of war Going out and and basically and I just played the audio Why is he going out and talking trash? If they're ready to come back to the table if they are weakened Then why are we coming in with this kind of attack? It sounds like it sounds like our actions Have already been amplified enough. We don't need to come in and start talking tough. This is the point where we say, okay, look We know that Your economy is dying and all of these other things. Let's just talk It's time to just next roll with vernon davis the transformative journeys of athletes artists and entrepreneurs ladies and gentlemen Lights out sean merriman. I want to be the biggest and the best when I do and so whatever it takes I'll get it done and business and everything else. All I do is know how to fight and earn what I want my man Malik asks what actor comedian what you want to collaborate with me jamie foxley kevin harry in a movie We said it on vernon davis podcast there. So we'll circle back. Do that. Yep It's gonna clear next roll with vernon davis follow and listen on your favorite platform talk But hegseth comes out and does all this and so I just I'm wondering why why this is the flex now And and again, I could be wrong And apparently jones gonna tell me I am go ahead. Joan. Well, no what I'm thinking is that this is an inducement This is pete hegseth and the administration's way of saying listen We don't want to bomb use to smithereens because You know clearly we have the advantage in every metric that the military the ability to to make new and to process military equipment and and You know everything having to do with the military you've got your people against you There's so much that's wrong Financially they're being killed right now But we don't want to drop that like serious Bomb on you and destroy everything you've ever seen in your lives Just come to the table because they're still they're still holding out So what the president is trying to do is just induce them to come to the table just come to the table Like don't be knuckleheads get here to the table. I don't want to hurt you I don't want to hurt you. This is gonna hurt us more than it's gonna hurt you. Actually. No, it's not Trump is just itching. Yeah, like like he I believe that trump is itching for a fight even more of a fight with these folks But the thing is and I've been saying this forever now We're really good at blowing stuff up and I get that we're really good at blowing stuff up. Love that we're good at blowing stuff up But I think that we still need to define success as it relates to Uh, the Iranian military who is in charge of Iran how verifiable is it gonna be if they're saying that they are no longer going to be pursuing nuclear weapons What does mission accomplish look like and that that's my biggest That's my biggest worry with this whole thing is trump once out He wants the props on the economy certainly heading into the midterm election There's a lot of things that don things that donald trump once the republicans to be able to campaign on Seven months from now and it's actually going on right now Really the midterm elections and heading into the election season truly and then heading into 2028 so The president needs some victories here and he needs this to be done sooner rather than later because of course We keep talking about the economy and how important that economy is going to be Heading into the midterm elections. And so you're right, Joan. Maybe this is just a prodding along A let's get this done and let's move forward And get the straight-up four moves back open so that it helps not only iran's economy It'll help china's economy. It'll help our economy as well We'll have to see if they remain obstinate enough That they continue to posture on their side and don't come to the table with a better attitude than they did before when they controlled the straight-up four moves we've We've we've gotten by the you know what's in my opinion We've gotten by the the you know what's and so now it's just a matter of them saying, okay uncle We're going to come to the table and we're going to come to the table with a with a better attitude and more willing to negotiate now Because you have our economy basically in your hands. So we'll have to see what happens Ultimately, I do like what hexeth did today. It's over. It's been over for a minute now I'll see if I can find another another piece of audio for you But coming up after the news today, we talked about what is going on. We did this yesterday We talked about what's going on in that middle tennessee high school Where they are allowing the muslim kids to get out of class or if this was for ramadan get out of class They can pray and all of that kind of stuff Kathy hinners That Kathy hinners is going to Join us a little bit after the news at eight o'clock And talk about really what this means as far as what what they were doing here in middle tennessee and how this is Something that has been going on not only in tennessee, but actually across the nation that story is coming up for you at eight o'clock on Super talk 997 wtn right now though coming up at eight for the news.
