Summary

Sarah shares her personal journey with GLP-1 medications (semaglutide) for weight loss, cholesterol management, and blood sugar regulation. She discusses her struggles with food noise, body image shame, and how the medication transformed her health metrics while requiring careful management of side effects and dosing.

Insights
  • GLP-1 medications address multiple health markers simultaneously (weight, cholesterol, A1C, blood pressure) rather than just weight loss, making them valuable for metabolic health beyond cosmetic goals
  • Food noise—the constant mental battle with food cravings—is a distinct medical symptom that significantly impacts quality of life and can be effectively managed with GLP-1 therapy
  • Long-term GLP-1 use appears viable at micro-doses after initial weight loss phases, with users maintaining results and adjusting dosing based on appetite and food noise signals
  • Insurance coverage barriers drive patients to compounding pharmacies and medical spas, creating a secondary market where out-of-pocket costs ($200-250/month initially) become acceptable for sustained health benefits
  • GLP-1 medications may reduce addictive behaviors beyond food (alcohol cravings mentioned), suggesting broader neurological effects on reward-seeking behavior that warrant further medical investigation
Trends
GLP-1 medications expanding beyond diabetes/obesity into preventive cardiovascular health management for high-cholesterol and pre-diabetic populationsCompounding pharmacies and medical spas becoming primary access points for GLP-1 therapy due to insurance coverage gaps based on BMI thresholdsPatient-led dosing optimization and micro-dosing strategies emerging as users develop body awareness to manage side effects and maintain results long-termShame and perfectionism barriers preventing early adoption despite clear health benefits, requiring cultural normalization of pharmaceutical weight managementConstipation and GI side effects becoming critical safety education gap, with severe cases (hospitalization) creating need for better patient preparation and hydration protocolsGLP-1 therapy enabling lifestyle changes (fitness content creation, confidence) that extend beyond health metrics into social and economic participationLong-term safety data gaps creating uncertainty about multi-year/lifetime use, despite successful diabetes applications suggesting decades of safety history

She started hotwiving with her husband and she called in to talk about that. Her and her husband called in. She called in separate. They had just gone to Splash and Moka. Her episode is really great and she's really hot. I saw all these pics of her on Patreon and Discord when she came on my show. And then she told me when I put a call out for Sexual Health Saturday series that she did struggle with weight and body issues and food noise and all that kind of stuff and high cholesterol. And she eventually went on a GLP One and it totally changed her life in so many different ways. And she decided to call in and talk about that part of her life as well. So I know a lot more about Sarah now. This is a super interesting episode because to me, I always want to hear like real people's stories, you know, when they do something. I do want to get a doctor on here to talk about GLP One because I think you want all that kind of important information. But I think you also want to know like what a real person's experience was like, right? Like real experience from a person. And that's what she's here to give. She tells her whole story about how she struggled with her weight and the noise that she had and all that kind of good stuff as well as like how she was kind of hesitant about going on a GLP One. And then she did go on and then she talked specific information about that whole journey. It's super interesting. You're going to get so much information from this episode. You're going to love it if you want any kind of information on a GLP One, if you're on the fence about doing it, if you don't want to do it at all, maybe she'll change your mind. I don't know. But anyway, I'm going to get right to it and be right back on with Sarah. Hi, Sarah. Welcome back to the Strictly Anonymous podcast. How are you today? I'm good. I'm happy to be here. Yeah, I'm happy you came on because I did put a call out. I have a new series, Sexual Health Saturday series. I like to talk to people about any kind of health and fitness stuff. It doesn't have to do with sex, right? It doesn't have to be sexual health. I like anything to do with health in general, really. That's why I started the series because it's something that I'm so curious about. I love talking about doctor stuff. I like talking to doctors, but I also like talking to people who have been through like some, any kind of health journey because I think those kind of episodes really help other people, right? Now, you were on my show before. You fall into two categories that I have on my show. People who call in and talk about their sex lives and people who call in now and talk about their health lives. Okay. You are Sarah quote unquote, episode 1370. Sarah is a hot wife who recently attended Splash Mocha. Your husband called in first. You guys were trying to find guys you're hot wife thing. You earned that into it. And then, oh my God. And people had a very weird reaction to you. We'll talk about that later. It was very bizarre. It's like, what's wrong with a super hot chick who like is feels fine about herself. I don't understand or who's like turns people down. I mean, isn't that like every girl? There's no girls out there that'll just fuck anyone. Okay. But anyway, and then you went to Splash Mocha and you called in. So if people want to hear that side of your story, they can. And if people want, once they hear that and if they're on my page on my discord, they'll see you. Okay. And this leads into what you're calling back now because they'll see you and they'll see how fucking hot you are. And how hot your body is. And what you're calling in to say is that, you know, you went through a time where I'm assuming it happened way later, right? Like at a certain age, you just like couldn't lose the weight or get back in shape or whatever. You know, or was it always? You know what? Yeah. So I'm one of those people that I've always had to work very hard. Oh, okay. So and but let me just give the, the quick skinny of what we're going to be talking about and skinny is the word is you wound up like after trying everything. And always being hard, you wound up using a GLP one and that completely changed the game in many other ways, not just in helping you lose the weight. And that's what we're going to talk about. So why don't you go back to what you were saying? And it is kind of funny. I have to tell people that before we start taping, you're like, I'm kind of more nervous to talk about this than talking about all the hot life thing and sex I had. Yes. Yes. So I totally am. I totally am. Like I am a little, I am more nervous to talk about this than, you know, coming on and talking about, you know, sex and, you know, sex and hot wifing and things like that. Kind of funny. I think because for me, you know, my, you know, journey with my body and, you know, like feeling good about my body, that's like a very vulnerable place for me. Yeah. And, and just, you know, I'm sure lots of people experience this women experience this, you know, we have a lot of shame wrapped around like our bodies and how we look. And so I think that's why I feel nervous about it because it really does like kind of trigger me to feel those things. Yeah. Even though I, yeah, even though I feel like I feel very good in my body now, I'm very confident. And I've been very confident, you know, on and off throughout my life with my body and the different shapes that I've been. But, you know, there's that like deep, deep, patterned shame that a lot of women feel about their bodies. Yeah. And I think it's amazing that these GLP ones exist nowadays. And I think it's interesting to get somebody's personal story with it because I think there's still a lot of people on the fence that haven't, you know, decided to do it. Some people will never do it. Some people have done it and love it, you know, you're somebody that did it and it changed your life for the better. You know, listen, if anyone's had a bad experience, I'll talk to those people too because you never know, right? Like everybody is different. And this is just your personal story. I personally believe in them. I don't take them myself, but if I needed to, I would. But, you know, if you don't believe in, that's fine. But this is for people that want more information about it. Why don't you go back and explain like what you were saying in the beginning when you were like, you know, I've always had to work hard to get myself to be like where I needed to be. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So, you know, even as a kid, I, you know, I wasn't like an athletic kid. I wasn't, you know, an obese kid or anything, but, you know, I was always like a little thicker and I, you know, when I became, I guess, probably in my late teens, I became, you know, interested in like working out and things like that. And, you know, before that, you know, unfortunately in my youth, you know, when I was like a tween and a teen, I did struggle with eating disorders because, you know, I was trying to get a little bit of a break. You know, I was trying to really be thinner than really what my body was meant to be. You know, I wasn't meant to be a super skinny kid. And, you know, I, unfortunately I had pressures from one of my parents and one of my parents. Oh, really? Was very, was, yeah. Well, she was very, she was very thin, very beautiful. And, you know, she grew up in a different time and, you know, there was just like always like, oh, do you really need to have seconds or wow, I can't believe you weigh that much. I think I took more after my father's genetics, which are like a little bit more, you know, muscular and just like naturally have like a little more meat on my bones. So I was dealing with that pressure. And then obviously like, you know, general societal pressures. But then, you know, when I got in my late teens, I, you know, I started running and really running was the thing. And I found that running was, you know, very good also for my mental health. But, you know, like I still, I still didn't feel like, oh, I weighed what I wanted to weigh. And of course I was like very attached to the scale because, you know, I grew up like getting on the scale every day. And I have learned. Oh my God. And I have learned that, you know, I've gone through periods years and years where I've never gotten on a scale because, you know, I've gone through periods of my life where I'm just like, you know what, that doesn't matter. And in a lot of ways, like, you know, your body composition, you know, like someone can, you know, a woman can weigh, you know, whatever, 160 pounds or something and be muscular and spelt. And I was always, I mean, once I, you know, once I, you know, started developing, I mean, I was very curvy. I had like, you know, big boobs and a round ass. And, you know, and that was nowadays, it would have been great. Yeah, I know. But like in the, in the early 90s, like, you know, hair and chic was still very attractive. And, you know, the wave was very, you know, that was like what was very attractive. So, yeah, I mean, that was, that was my youth. And, you know, then I started running and, you know, the running, I mean, I didn't feel like it necessarily, you know, changed, you know, I didn't like lose a lot of weight. You know, I was constantly like calorie counting and things like that. And in my 20s, I discovered that, you know, I had high cholesterol. And, you know, some of that, they told me at the time, like, oh, this is probably also genetic. Like, you know, my, my dad's family, they all have high cholesterol and yeah. For sure. Yeah. And so, you know, they, they didn't, no one seemed super concerned. You know, it wasn't like super high or anything. But that was something that was, I was tracking, you know, ever since in my 20s. And as I got older, it did start to creep up and creep up and creep up. And, you know, that was definitely one of the reasons why fast forward way down the line. That was definitely a catalyst for me deciding to use a GLP one. Right. But yeah, I mean, in between then my weight went up and down. Like I said, I was never like obese, you know, very large, but I was definitely a little heavier, a little thicker. You know, when I was pregnant, I, you know, I think I got up to like 185, 190 or something. How tall are you? Give us your stats by the way. I'm 5'4". I'm 5'4". Yeah. I'm 5'4". And I think probably before I got pregnant, I was probably 130 pounds or something. Yeah. And then I went up all the way to I think 190 or so. And then after my baby, you know, I did not bounce back, you know, right away. And I went straight into the gym also right after I had my kid. I went, I started lifting weights and I had never lifted weights before. I was never drawn to that. I also like bought into the narrative that like cardio, cardio, cardio, that's how you lose weight. Oh my God. That has been debunked. So I started working out with weights and you know, that I think I was like 165 pounds, you know, after my kid and I, and I started lifting weights and, but I did not get very meticulous. I mean, I've always been like a pretty good eater. I don't eat a bunch of junk food, but I can be a volume eater for sure because I love food and I've definitely gone, I mean, I definitely have it in me to like eat my feelings. Yeah. I mean, that is definitely a place that I go when I'm feeling sad or depressed or something. I have a lot of food noise and you know, that's a very like, that is very like wired into, you know, my emotional state for sure. So, you know, when I was working, started working out with weights, I still wasn't, you know, I still could have been better about my diet and I was still having alcohol occasionally, not a lot, but you know, some to degree. Also in your 20s. So I mean, you know, you do have like age on your side at that point, but if in your 20s, you're starting to see yourself getting overweight with those kinds of things and you have to like pay attention to that, you know what I mean? Oh yeah. I mean, I was like, no matter what age I was, I can like put it on really easily. I'm just one of those people. And that's just your body. That's your genetic. Yeah. And I forget who you had on, but maybe some doctor or something talking about, you know, like the number of fat cells that are in someone's body. Yeah. It really varies person to person. And you know, maybe I'm one of those people that just has a lot more of them. I don't know, but it's like very easy for me to just kind of like blow up. I always say like one French fry away from being. Exactly. Yeah. And talk about food noise. That's when you get food noise. You know what I mean? Like cause you're teetering on that ledge at all times. That's a terrible place to be. Yes. Yes. I mean, and food noise, I mean, I think a lot of people dismiss it, but it is so, so real and it can really dominate your thoughts, you know, until you satisfy it. You know, like I would have, I could have a day where like I'm like working or whatever. And all I can think about is like, I want to eat a brownie or something like that. Like I want some kind of like whatever it is, sugary thing or it's a burger or whatever it is. And I will be thinking about that until I have it. Yeah. Okay. It's finally getting warmer outside. So warm that I actually just started to unpack my spring and summer clothes. And of course, every time I do that, I think to myself like, oh my God, I need more stuff, but not just more stuff. I need good stuff that is not only reliable, but high quality too. And that's where Quinn's comes in. Quinn's makes high quality, everyday essentials using premium materials. Their men's linen pants and shirts are lightweight, breathable and comfortable. So they're perfect for spring. They have a whole new line of spring products to choose from. And the best part is their prices are 50 to 60% less than similar brands. How do they do that? Well, Quinn's works directly with the factories and they cut out the middle man. So you get high quality items without the high quality markup. Everything I've got from Quinn's, I have loved. I've got their men's sweats and T shirts for my son. I bought a bunch of different cashmere sweaters for myself in the winter. And recently I bought a pair of leggings for the gym, which were so soft and high end. I went and bought them in another color. And I also wound up throwing in a candle from their new spring collection. And it was like a high end candle at a low end price. Okay. So it was like $24, but the smell lingered in my apartment just like a $78 candle. The leggings were 45, but they were equivalent to a pair that was 95. I promise you, okay, you will be blown away by their attention to detail and the quality of their products. That's what sets Quinn's apart. So now that spring is right around the corner, go refresh your wardrobe at Quinn's. Go to quince.com slash strictly non for free shipping and 365 day returns now available in Canada too. Go to Q, U, I, N, C, E.com slash strictly a non for free shipping and 365 day returns. That's quince.com slash strictly a non or just go to the description and click on the link. Yeah. Cause you also said you're like a foodie, right? On top of it. I do love food. Food is like, some people like they say some people like live to eat and some people eat to live, you know? So you're like the person that you also really love food. It's like one of your pleasures of life. Some people don't care about it. Yeah. 100%. You know, I grew up like, you know, with a big Italian family and we eat, you know, and like that's how we love each other and we each other and like, you know, I'm a foodie, so I get it. And it's like, but some people don't care, but that's only makes the food noise worse because you got like the food noise of just loving food and then you have that insecure food noise. You know what I mean? So you got a lot of fucking noise going on. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Yeah. And so it wasn't until probably, I don't know, it's been probably two and a half years or so. I think probably two and a half years ago, two years ago, I was getting up toward 160 pounds or so again. And you know, I had like lost a little bit of weight, you know, after my baby, but I was hovering probably around like 145 or so. And then I, you know, gained probably another 15 pounds or so. And I got myself like, this was post COVID right after, you know, post COVID, I got myself a personal trainer that I would work with, work out with virtually. I got myself some weights at home. I started doing that. And they put me on like a very specific meal plan, you know, heavy on the protein, low on the carbs, low on the fat. Oh my God, the protein. Isn't that torture? And I'm like, and I was like, and I'm like, well, it's very hard to meet those meat and protein macros. It's like a full time job. Yeah, I couldn't do it. I was asking Chad GPT wanted me to do like 120 grams. I was like, I can't stop that. I can't do it. You know what I mean? That is really hard. I mean, it is super tough to do. Yeah. I'm like weighing all my food, you know, tracking everything. So I was like very meticulous and insane about it. And I, you know, and still all along, you know, still having my cholesterol be high and all this. Can you just give me your numbers of your cholesterol? Like what, when you say high, was it in the 300s? Was it in the high 200s? Was it just slightly over? Almost 300. Okay. Okay. And let me just ask you this because something I know about cholesterol because I do hormones and I do HRT. So I'm getting tested every three months. Me too. Me too. So I see my hormone, I see my cholesterol range change massively all the time. Like it could change 50 points, you know what I mean? A lot, you know? Do you notice that with yours or was it always like high 200s? So okay. Yeah. I mean, it has steadily been going up, up, up or it had been. Oh, okay. So it was never going down, right? No. And when I started HRT, because I do HRT too, and I've done the patches, the pellets, the cream, I like the creams the best. I had the same experience with the pellets you've had and I've heard other folks talk about. I didn't actually notice that my, the cholesterol wasn't going up and down the way that you're saying you've experienced it. But yeah. So even when I was being very meticulous weighing my food this and that, like I just was not seeing the results that I wanted to see. And then I did something like, then I was like, okay, I tried a keto diet for a while. And another one in the bag, right? That people try. These are all the things. Yes. Yeah. Yes. These are all the things. And I will tell you that, so I got a little, this is me, I'm like an all or nothing. I'm like, when I do something, I do it like 120%. You kind of have to if you're going to do those kinds of things. I mean, I do, I do that with bad behavior. Yeah. Yeah. You might be an addict. I'm an addict. So I say, yeah, I'm right there fucking with you. Yes. I mean, yes, I am. We could save that for another chat. Yeah. Yeah. Go on. So, what was I saying? Yes. No, you haven't. You're talking about the cholesterol going up and down and it was like steadily going up. So, oh, so I did the keto thing. Yeah. And that, that did, I did lose a little bit of weight doing that. And so I got like very overzealous about it. And I did it. Those types of diets, I would say, are probably meant to be done in moderation. Like that probably shouldn't, I mean, I don't know, everybody's different, but that was not something that I should have done long term. And I, and I feel like ultimately it, I mean, because I also struggle with cholesterol and when you're doing keto, you're eating a lot of fat. Yeah. Yeah. You have to do that. You're eating healthy fat. You're eating, I'm cutting those and all of them. Yeah. Yes, exactly. And yeah. So I think it probably, it was okay for a minute, but then, you know, my weight kind of just like plateaued and also I wasn't feeling very well on it. And obviously the cholesterol was continuing to be an issue. And yeah. So my doctor, you know, I was, I was seeing this doctor and he was like, yeah, you know, you might have to consider going on cholesterol medication. And I was like, I do not want to do that. A stabbin. Yeah. I didn't want to do that. Yeah. And, and, and he was like, okay, well, we're going to try some weight loss. We were going to try some weight loss medication. And so they put me on a drug called phenomine. It's just an amphetamine, you know, diet. It's like a diet pill. Oh God. Did it jack you up? Well, a little bit. I mean, I, I also, I have ADD. So, you know, I didn't make it worse or better. Well, I, I, in the, as needed, like in the past, I've taken Adderall for my ADD. No, Adderall and, and so I, I know what that's like. I mean, it's, it's a very similar feeling. I don't like the feeling, but I took it and I hated it because I felt like I was like, you know, on speed. And I didn't feel like, and I didn't, I did not want to feel that way. And it just made me feel really crappy. And so he was like, okay. Well, you know, we've tried this. So now we can make an argument to put you on, you know, uh, Wegovi. Right. Or Ozympic. One of the other. How many years ago was this? Was this like now recently. This. That it's quite well known. This was about a year and a half ago. Was probably when they put me on the phenomine. And let me ask you this question this quick question like at that time was these that was like GLP ones like as big as they are now or were people just talking about them? They were really they were big they were getting they were really yeah, they were getting really big. Had you ever considered them yourself? So I just thought like oh, that's not for me like I just thought like oh, you know like That's not for me. I didn't think that I was a case that would need it but then you also like look at like you're like You know you look at our like culture like you know You know like celebrities and pop culture and you're like man like they you know like you know like it someone like took it or whatever And they're so thin and they were already kind of thin you're like well I guess there's like all different use cases for this. Yeah, you know, yeah, but you know, I felt like I Felt ashamed and I felt like I was cheating. I would be cheating. Okay, so that's how you felt about it then That's how I felt about it then. Yeah. Yeah, and I felt and I've always felt like There's always some been some kind of shame wrapped around like like Wanting to look a certain way and so, you know all the health things aside Yeah, that was all that's always in my mind if I'm totally honest. I mean no bullshit like I Would match to like oh, I want to look I want to look a certain way and I felt ashamed of right you feel bad that you feel that way like you you judge your own soul for feeling that way Absolutely. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, and you know, I was You know, I I was talking to my husband at the time and he was saying, you know What's the worst that can happen you try it and and he's also and he's also he's so great He's like he always trying to help me heal this shame, you know He's nothing to be ashamed about like and you know from a medical Perspective like you do also have this like my a1c was getting a little not super high But a little high borderline borderline. Yeah, and and he was just like just give it a shot If you hate it you hate it if it does nothing you tried it whatever and so This real quick question So that the first the drug that you're talking about that was a GLP one, right? The doctor came to it was the name of it again used to call it so Wagovi and ozempic are the FDA approved ones. Yeah, GLP ones, right? So yeah, let me get to that. Yeah, so I You know, they send it into my Question was was he treating you with that for your high cholesterol or for right? That's what that's my point I'm trying to make like so. Yes. He was saying like this is gonna help that right? Yes You're thinking oh like cuz you're not going to him because you want to lose weight You're going there because of your cholesterol and now he's offering up something that's going to do this other thing for you That you know a little shame about but it kind of could do two great things for you. Yes, so my yes The cholesterol is high and my BMI was like right on the cusp of being technically obese oh interesting So, you know, they sent it off to my insurance my insurance wouldn't cover it You know because I didn't hit the BMI I wasn't in the correct BMI range and so my my doctor referred me to you know There's all these like medical spas and and you know different You know Companies that will provide you the compound on pharmacies and so he was like just you know do that It's the same thing and and so that's what I did. I you know, I take a compound Explain exactly how you went about doing that because that sounds easier than it might be I mean, how did you go and fight cuz you can't it was actually a compounding company cuz you can't write a script for yourself Correct. Yeah, it was actually it was actually very easy. He his office provided me with a list of Different some of them are like medis spas. Some of them were you know, just Yeah, there's essentially medis spas which are run by like typically it's a nurse, right? Cuz a nurse can prescribe medication and So I called a couple of them and then I made an appointment with one of them. I went and I met went to their office I met this very nice nurse. We talked all about my you know, medical history and what my goals were and And then and she explained, you know, like what the options were Cuz it was like, you know, you could take semi-glute I you could take tersepati These are the differences and the stuff that she explained to you. I can try so So semi-glute I'd You know was the sort of the first drug out and then they developed this tersepati And the difference is I don't I actually don't really know what the difference is I do know that they have slightly different side effects. I know that the tersepati is is I think that bound is the brand name they I Think that it can you need a little bit less of it Uh-huh and you know she and also my doctor doctor who I have had like check-ins with like, you know If the semi-glute I kind of stops working while you can always like switch to this But I've never needed to do that. So yes, then this very nice nurse She wrote me a prescription and you know, you started on a very low dose and you know She and I had routine Check-ins typically a phone check-in where it's like every at the beginning It's like every week or every couple of weeks like how are you feeling? I do have you had any weight loss like what's how's you know, you're cravings I do you have any side effects like, you know, I think the common side effects oftentimes are nausea You know, you could have some vomiting that that will happen like if you Consume too much. So yeah, but I was very lucky. I I didn't have side effects Well, I want to get really specific with you when you got went in there and she said what are you looking for like? Did you say I want to lower my cholesterol? I want to lose weight and these are all things that she said, okay This is possible on this this drug, right? Yes. So I said I want to lose I want to lower my a1c in my cholesterol and I want to lose some weight and how much did you want to lose? So at the time I was probably one 50 On some days like 154, you know, you get on the scale it varies and I said I wanted to lose You know 20 25 pounds something like that. Okay, cool. So and then what like what was the amount? Did they start you out? Were you like micro dosing it? Were you doing a regular? So when you first start off you start on a very low dose. Oh, okay, so everybody micro doses in the beginning maybe To make sure that yeah to make sure that you feel okay because I mean if you if you I would imagine that if you gave yourself a Normal dose you would it would not feel good. Yeah, you know, you would definitely Feel bad inside you might feel nauseous You might just just feel really crummy and you could maybe have some vomiting I mean, there's a whole slew of potential side effects. So, you know, when I started I Was on a micro dose and I took it once a week Mm-hmm, and I did that for the first four weeks and then we Upped it, you know, I think we doubled it and then, you know from there. I think a lot of people end up taking You know a lot of people end up taking anywhere between one to two Milligrams a week. I think I think milligrams is the correct unit. Yeah. Yeah, and so Yeah, I mean it took my body not surprisingly because I'm slow with everything it took my body a little bit to actually Start, you know, really like okay like my food noise is going away My appetite is not as voracious I'm not snacking all the time because I'm a big snacker one because I love food and two because the food noise Yeah, but yeah, I mean it was remarkable to Not have food noise. That was like Let me ask you this though as a person who loves food. I love food. I'm a foodie. I don't have a lot of pleasures in life I don't drink I don't do drugs. I don't smoke cigarettes, you know what I mean I don't like I'm a very responsible person. I don't fuck off in any area of my life You know, so like food is like my fucking pleasure one of my number one side sacks, right? So I'm just like I don't want to lose my food like I don't want to not be interested in food But when I have laughed like I if I go to the movie theater, I want to order a huge thing of popcorn I'd feel so sad if I went to the movie theater didn't even give a shit about popcorn Do you miss the food noise as a foodie or is it still there and you love food? Because I don't know what that experience is like when I hear like you lose the food noise I'm like, do you lose the the desire to have food because that to me is like scary Yeah, so two things. Yeah, so when I was like really in the thick of it with like losing the weight I was taking a much higher dose than I take now. Yeah, and yes, I I Did not care about food as much and was that freeing for you Yeah, yeah, that was that was definitely freeing and just a note about the food noise So there's like food noise like oh, I really want to eat I enjoy eating the popcorn at the movie theater. Yeah, and then there is like food noise. That's like I can't believe I eat the poop popcorn at the movie theater. No There's like you you know how you're you're talking about how you're an addict Well, I'm an addict too. Yeah, and when you're an addict of something and you cannot stop fucking thinking about it Yeah, like you and it just really is like this like heavy Thing that you're carrying around. Yeah, and that's the kind of food noise that I'm talking about Yeah, you're almost battling against yourself if you're trying to work away. Yes, right because of any or a second voice in your head Yeah, you're constantly like Well, I know I shouldn't eat that should I eat that when can I eat that if I eat that what will happen? But like what will I eat later? Like it's it's ridiculous. Yeah. Yeah, so yeah, that went away And that was very freeing, but I definitely went through a period when I was like Losing a lot of the weight and I was taking I was up to taking almost two milligrams a week Uh-huh and that's quite a bit. That's a lot and you know, I definitely yeah there I didn't think about I didn't care about food as much and then you know once I Got to the weight that I wanted to be in fact I I thought like I felt like I lost a little bit of muscle mass being on the JLP one So, you know, I was like, okay, I think I need to eat a little bit more actually than I'm eating and so, you know I I micro dose now. I don't take nearly as much semi-glutide as I did before and I Definitely and back to like, you know, I think about food. I enjoy food. It's definitely Pleasurable for me. So that was not that's not like a permanent thing, you know I think if you are on like high doses of the GLP one you definitely like I mean like I said I got to a place where yeah, I didn't I didn't care as much about it But like when I would be eating I would be like, oh, yeah, I'm hungry. This is good. I like this Let me put down your whole journey though more specific because you just told the whole like journey real quick And it was super interesting But I want to now go like week to week the way, you know, how much you lost how it felt You're you know, and all that kind of good stuff, which I would want to know So I just think if I want to know it someone else wants to know it So the first week you get a first well, it's an injection, right? And it's subcutaneous, right? You're just putting it into your belly or your ass or something Yeah, so when you take a compound, well, I would so they have the pens. Yeah, you know, and then they Yeah, but then they also have like the The they just send you the Gluteide and the needles which is what I've always done. Yeah, so you measure it yourself and then you Inject it and you rotate spots. So I go like belly arm leg, you know, like so every week I'm one week I do a shot in my belly one the next week It's in my arm the next week it's in my thigh so that you're not always like hitting the same spot Yeah, remember that because I just want to say to people who are petrified of needles I was one of those people that was petrified of needles and then when I went through massive Like infertility I had to get over my fucking needle thing really fast and now I love needles I inject all the time and I could care less and I just have to tell you I remember when they they were I had to Do like progesterone needles in my ass and the needle was like so big and like I was like so fucking scared and I was horrified I never had a needle just go into any part of my body like not like, you know into a vein I remember I paid for the nurse to come to my house and do it for me because that's how scared I was and then once I Realized you don't feel a fucking thing. I was like, are you kidding me? I was like, you know talking to my friends on the phone giving myself injections at the same time I became a professional because the truth is and I just want people to know this and I want to just say it if you're so Petrified of needles because you never those little diabetic needles that you put in there's really yeah You really barely you might feel it I always know if I'm in the wrong spot if I actually do feel it and then I just move like you really don't feel anything It goes in like butter. It's not it doesn't hurt. You know what I mean? It's not that bad at all So yes, and I think people just don't know if they've never used them or did it. Yeah, they're very they're very sharp They're very small. You would never want to reuse a needle. You would just like you take the new one out It's so sharp. It just goes through the skin just like butter just like you said. Yeah, and and then you're done Yeah, and it doesn't hurt at all. So go back. So you so you do it and you did one injection a week Tell me exactly how you felt that first time you took it Oh Remember Yeah, like physically. Yeah, I felt yeah. Yeah. So, you know what I was that it was so low I went so slow with like the dosage like I you know when when I first started I didn't I didn't feel anything I didn't really feel any any different you lose any weight that first week. No, okay No, I know I felt like a little bit like a little bit like Funky a little bit in my stomach a couple of times when I woke up in the morning. Yeah, but that was it Okay, and then you know the second week I probably still didn't feel that much different probably around like week three or four I started to notice like okay the food noises like starting to go away and You know, I'm I'm not snacking as much But you know, there wasn't any real change in there wasn't any change in weight And so, you know, then I think you know, we up the dose and you know once you start upping that dose like Yeah, you really start to notice it and so I think by Six weeks in I Started to see some of the weight start to come off Nothing drastic nothing crazy and like I was Exercising also, you know, but no cardio because I quit doing cardio a long time ago. Yeah, just weights Yeah, only weightlifting and nothing crazy like I mean three times a week weights and you know eating like a Eating pretty clean. Yeah, did you do a muscle even while you were working out or did you stop working out? Yeah, so I Initially, I didn't feel like I lost any muscle mass, but so this was in yeah, so let's just I started on the GLP one in January February of 2024 right, yeah, that sounds good something like that. Yeah, and Yeah, so I felt like after I'd been on it for a while Then I felt like after I'd lost a bunch of weight I felt like I did start to see that I lost some muscle mass But you were still working out with weights at that same time is what I'm saying like it was it was the drug because you were still working out But you were losing instead of gaining is that what was yeah, so I definitely No, I think I like I mean I did slack off here and there on going to the gym like life gets busy Whatever and I become like a little less Consistent, but I mean that would probably mean I was like going to the gym like once a week instead of like three times a week and Yeah, I mean I felt like So I felt like I did get less meticulous about my food in that like Yes, I'm eating less, but maybe I'm not Prioritizing like protein as much. I just I got like a little less like thoughtful about that And maybe that had an effect as far as like, you know the amount of muscle mass I was like I felt like I lost a little bit, but now You know that was like a while a little while ago and now I feel like I have it back You know, I feel like my body is just with the micro dosing Let me ask you this when you went up high and you did start to lose the weight What were some of the side effects that you did have if any? Yeah, so Initially none. Okay. Yeah, like none. I was I was very fortunate No, no no nothing It was after I'd lost Almost all the weight that I wanted to lose and I was still taking a higher dose. I started to have some abdominal cramping and I went to my doctor not my not the person prescribing me the drug I was still seeing like my provider also even though he wasn't giving providing the prescription Yeah, he wanted to continue to check in with me Yeah And so I went in for one of my check-ins and I and I told him what was going on and he's like Yeah, he's like this is just a sign that like you don't need this high dose anymore He's like you need to you know, like it's time like you're when when you started on it You were heavier you had more body mass and you know, you needed more of this drug And now your the you know, you've lost a bunch of weight and You're really at your ideal weight. You don't need to be taking this much, you know Because because if I had continued to take that that higher dose I would have lost even more weight and maybe experienced even more side effects So he's like, okay, you know, you're having some abdominal cramping just like start to you don't want a cold turkey Like you don't want to go from your high dose to like micro dosing You want to like taper that shit. How come would you get side effects if you just yeah, yeah Interesting, okay. Yeah, you could you could get some side effects because well particularly with your blood sugar because one of the Fantastic things that these drugs do is that they regulate your blood sugar very well. That's why I bet it's taking That's why that's what they were always for exactly. Yeah, that's right So if you were to be on you know, normal dose of this drug and then you go to take none of it at all You no longer have that control, you know, the yeah the the the GLP one is no longer Regulating that blood sugar for you and you'll have like crazy blood sugar spikes and that feels horrible Yeah, that's scary and and it's not healthy. Yeah, and so my doctor is like, you know You just need to like taper it down And so that's what I started doing just really tapering it down nice and easy the abdominal pain, you know, it went away and Now I just take a very low dose every week still Yep, every week I take like a tiny bit. How much weight total did you lose? Sorry? You never told us Yeah, so right now I went all the way down to a hundred and twenty six pounds and I Have Put on like three more pounds So I'm like anywhere between like 128-129 muscle because you just got your muscle back Yeah, it is it is muscle. Okay, it is muscle and one of this is okay. This is just like I started taking creatine Yeah after my workouts and because I was like, okay, I'm still going to the gym I'm doing my like regimen and I'm like and I lift I lift heavy. Yeah, I like getting muscle and And then I was like, I'm just gonna like try this because my my husband's been working out and he He doesn't like powders or anything. Oh, we got like these little like creatine gummies Mm-hmm, and and he pops those after he works out and I was like, you know, I'm gonna try these and so I Start taking them and I mean I've taken every every supplement under the freaking sun for everything protein power everything Yeah, and a lot of times I'm like, I don't know if this shit is working But I swear to God like this creatine. I feel like I'm like, oh shit like I feel like I can see some Muscle coming back and also I feel like I'm not increasing my weight at the gym yet But like I'm like, I'm getting through my reps a lot better. I'm not as fatigued So yeah, something's working if all those things changed and you did you know, yeah So that's how I felt when I went on testosterone and when I didn't have any in me You know, I mean, that's all the stuff. Yeah, so that definitely is probably the creatine for short Mm-hmm. Yeah. So yeah, just a little micro dose every week and you know Sometimes if I feel like my food noise is getting a little bit worse I might bump it up a little bit or sometimes I feel like if my Because you can tell like as the drug wears off during the week you You definitely experience, you know, like Maybe like your appetite comes back a little like like a little bit more of a voracious appetite or the food noise comes back so you can feel that drug tapering off and so Sometimes it takes a little longer for that to taper off. So I might go nine days Yeah, ten days and then do a little micro dose or if I feel like my food noise is worth I might you know after seven days give myself just like a little bit of a bump, you know A little bit higher than like a little bit bigger micro dose. So I I am Very in tune with my body and how my body is feeling and listening to my body I feel like I've been good at that for a long long time. So I feel like I can really be like, okay I know that I need like a little bit more or I can go like a couple more days. Yeah I'll have a couple more specific questions that I want to know like, you know I want to ask you more about like the positive things that came out of this besides just losing the weight You've saved carefully for your future your plans your peace of mind now There's good news FSCS protection for your savings and current accounts has risen to a hundred and twenty thousand pounds per eligible person at UK Authorized banks building societies and credit unions from the very first pound right up to a hundred and twenty thousand pounds It's all protected so you can focus on what matters with confidence See what it means for you at FSCS talk UK your savings FSCS protected because I've heard a lot of different things from people, you know Not only does the food noise go away, but other things go away too But quick question is what I know how much does it cost out of pocket since your insurance wouldn't cover it going through that med spa Just so people have some sort of idea Yeah, so I think I pay it's probably like 200 bucks 200 something dollars for a vial Yeah, so when I was full on you know taking like You know one to two milligrams a week then that vial would probably last me four weeks mm-hmm Yeah, and so now it's hard for me to say how long a vial asked me because I just I mean they take me a long time to get through Now because I'm taking such a small amount But I'm I I'd say like I have a vibe the vial that I'm using right now I think I got it in like I don't know December or something. I don't know why I was gonna say December Yeah, so it lasts a long way so now you're yeah, yeah like $50 a month compared But in the height when you were doing the most is like $200 a month which like to me if you have all those great side effects It's not a lot of money to invest in because it's not long term like it's not like 200 bucks for the rest of your life Now it's like, you know $200 every five months or four months to keep it up. Yeah Yes, and and I think like a lot of people when when you do have insurance even if it's like shitty insurance You're like, oh, well, you know if my insurance isn't gonna cover it then I can't have it and you know, I Yeah Yeah, yeah, I would just say for anybody that you know if unfortunately your insurance won't cover it I would say like if you can if it's if that's even possible Then let yourself try it out and they're making it much more I mean, I think it's just gonna get like cheaper and cheaper as time goes on I mean, it is like the new thing and they're just you're they're really trying to make it affordable for everybody So I think that that's going to change and a lot of people can get it covered on their insurance. I'm surprised you couldn't with such high Levels and a 1c coming. Yeah, it's a BMI. It was the BMI. I just wasn't I just didn't have high enough BMI That's what it was. Okay, so but for people that are really overweight that they can get it covered a lot of people can get it covered Yeah, which is like really great. Absolutely. Let me ask you though about so we know about the bad side effects Like were there any kind of like surprising? positive side effects that happen because of this and also let us know like what happened either the regular Side effects of like we know how much weight you lost But like how did your cholesterol change and then any other? Obvious changes that you positive. Yes, you had Yes, so my cholesterol is way down. It didn't it didn't initially like it didn't go down I took a little bit. It probably took like 10 months For it to start to go down and cholesterol is one of those things like it it just will gradually continue You know continue to go down. So every time I go to the doctor, it's a little bit, you know lower and more Acceptable my a1c that was like got in line like pretty much after 10 months Like that was fine like no more worries about being pre-diabetic or or anything like that and My I mean, I've never I've never had high blood pressure But you know my my blood pressure Wasn't you know, it wasn't exactly where I would like it and and like I said like my my genetics like You know one side of my family They have high cholesterol and they have heart disease and you know all of those fun things So, you know, I was always keeping an eye on my blood pressure But like my blood pressure is always like perfect, you know now when I when I get it checked and Yeah, I just I Not having insane sugar cravings all the time My energy is more stable Stabilized because I had like these crazy sugar cravings because my blood sugar would go up and down and up and down and up and down I'm interesting and and because the the JLP one keeps it nice and steady and regulates even after you like Eat, you know, it's really like regulating that. I don't have these like crazy Crashes and so my energy level is as much more stable. Yeah as an addict Did you did you like did it sort of turned down the volume on other noises as well? That's what I've heard Yeah, I don't I I don't I mean I wasn't I I had I stopped drinking like you're Drinking drinking to like get drunk. I stopped doing that a long time ago. Yeah, you know, cuz I I drank I did drugs I yeah to the extreme. Yeah, and you know that behavior has you know long time ago I stopped doing that. Yeah, but I would like occasionally drink and I definitely as an addict would be like, oh It's like I really want to have a drink, you know, and I wouldn't abuse that and and get drunk But I would have that like craving. Yeah, and yeah that completely gone. Yeah, that's what I heard I've heard a lot of like interesting other side effects that people yes, didn't even realize and that's what it I think finds was super interesting. Yes. It's positive stuff. Yes, it's great. It's crazy like I mean obviously like JLP ones are are really targeting like this specific use case, but I'm like what like is there a way to I don't know if you could use that or use something similar that to and give that to addicts because like it works like the that addictive Behavior of you know, like I don't want to drink. I don't I don't ever have that craving Nothing. Yeah. Yeah, that's amazing. And so do you now and last question and I think I know the answer like I mean if you Went off of it tomorrow Would all the weight come back? Do you know like what the answer is to that question? So I think that if I went off it tomorrow, I All the food noise would come back. I think that I would have issues regulating my blood sugar And so with all of and when you have trouble regulating blood sugar, you have intense sugar cravings. So you eat Yeah, you know, so I think it would just I think that I would go back to like having a battle With food in that like I would be fighting myself like oh You know and and try not to give in to that. Yeah, so Yeah, I mean I'm I'm I'm in it for the long term, you know, uh, a micro dose For the long term and now did you ever ask like is this okay to take for the rest of my life? Like, you know, did and did they have an answer for you? Like do they know? Yeah, I mean, I don't think they really know because it's so I mean because it's giving it to diabetic I'm curious. I need a doctor on now to really get you the stats on this. Yeah, I don't know that would be interesting You know to find out But I mean, there's no doubt that the jlp1 is effectively treating Things like high cholesterol Diabetes cardiovascular disease because now you're you know, you're treating obesity. I mean, it's doing all these fantastic Things. Yes, it's true. I think like we don't know like if there's 20 years from now 30 years from now Like who knows right like yeah, but I wonder how long they've been using it for diabetes because like everyone got crazy about Botox when people are doing it just for their foreheads But they were using Botox for other reasons for a very long time way before they started injecting it Yeah for beauty. So I just wonder I have to look into that. Like I said, I need a doctor On so I could ask them all these specific questions because I know I'm putting you on the spot and you might not know, you know Yeah Yeah, I don't know But I think what's interesting is you're fine like you you're like fine with taking it forever because it's it's not that big Like it's not something that like consumes you you take it one every seven to nine days It doesn't cost that much for you like right now in your life And it's it doesn't really give you any side effects. Oh one side effects I did are here about which to me it's scared the shit out of me because is like some people have very slowed Like, you know, like you can't like you slowed going to the bathroom Someone lined up in the hospital. I heard the craziest story by this reality star Yeah, let's let's let's talk about that for a second. Yeah, like so Yeah, that's like you need to you You need to make sure that you're hydrated because it does slow your digestion down Um, and so you need to make sure that you're hydrated and if you're not yes, you can one of the side effects is in faction Yeah, that is no joke. Oh no, I heard this one woman. Uh, she was uh, I listened to jeff lousy I don't know if anyone else listens to me. He's the best But anyway, he had one reality tv star She wound up in the fucking hospital with them like digging into the hospital Yeah digging into her to get it out with their hands. I mean because she was that yeah, yeah, that's scary So I definitely I mean I've I've suffered from you know, constipation my whole life And so I'm very I like I know how to like Take care of myself But and that is definitely like I have to like stay on top of that while I'm taking this And how did you stay on top of that just with water? Did you take like any kind of fiber supplements or anything? Like did you do it? What did you do to combat that since you are prone for it? Anyway? Yes, so you do need fiber in your diet But I do want to mention that if you have too much fiber in your diet You can I can actually work against you because it Expands in the body. It sucks up all that moisture and it can totally contribute to Being constipated if you don't if you have if you if you have too much of it So yes, I mean drinking water making sure I have fiber But for me a lot of it is like I have to kind of really regulate how much, you know, like White process, you know bread pasta. Let's let that bind you up Yeah, yeah, and and I don't eat a lot of dairy anyway a yogurt, but cheese You know, you don't want to like eat a bunch of cheese or whatever. So yeah, just just being mindful in that way Interesting. I love it. Thank you so much for calling in. I've wanted someone to call in and Talk about this exact topic now. Like I said, I like to get both sides of things I love to hear from the doctors that you know and their side of things But I love to hear from real people, right? Like that's where you're gonna get this kind of like really interesting Information I got from you like your exact journey like when I google house stuff like people always be like, oh don't google It's terrible. It's like, I'm sorry if you google smart, you could find out a lot of fucking information now with chat You forget about it and I would always want to know no matter what I'm going through like what are real people's Experiences with things, you know when I would like google symptoms or I would google it with the word reddit after it and get Hear real people talking about shit. I'm gonna break a pedia or like the fun You know, it's like or like male clinics, you know paragraph information I go to so I love hearing from real people's Experience with these kinds of things as well as like I promise everyone I'm gonna get a doctor on to also come on and talk about More facts and stuff because I think both sides, but I love both sides of things, right?
