Host Kara Berry recaps a Southern Hospitality episode featuring relationship drama at a lakeside retreat, with tensions escalating between cast members Emmy and Brad over accountability and apologies, while Michael's emotional outbursts and Joe's career struggles create additional conflict within the friend group.
Insights
- Accountability avoidance through contextual reframing is a recurring pattern that erodes trust in relationships; genuine apologies require acceptance without qualification or reversal
- Emotional volatility can shift power dynamics in group settings, with individuals who regulate emotions gaining credibility while those who escalate lose standing regardless of initial grievance validity
- Career uncertainty and financial pressure create relationship strain when one partner uses alcohol as a coping mechanism, triggering concerns about enabling behavior in the other partner
- Social hierarchies within friend groups are reinforced through selective accountability—some members receive grace and support while others face collective skepticism based on past behavior patterns
- Proximity to entertainment industry success without concrete career advancement can lead to directionless behavior and dependency on show-related income rather than sustainable business development

Hey y'all, welcome back to another episode here at Everyone's Business with me, Cara Berry. We're talking Southern hospitality today, man. We're like maybe halfway through the season. Feeling good. We have a tight little season going. I'm loving it. So let's get into it. We're on another little mini trip off to Edisto down to the river. Lake has just gotten off the phone with her mama who was like, girl, please tighten up. Do not tell white people all black people's business. Get it together, girl. This is your downfall. So she's, you know, like not feeling great. She keeps taking some licks immediately after your mother says stop confiding in white people with black people's business. She goes down to the dock and tells Bella, I mean, is this like the worst thing in the world at this point? No. I mean, okay, like you're in your feelings. She's very young. So is Michael's. So I'm taking all these things into a cord. Okay. Cause I was a deeply emotional youth myself. She tells Bella, I'm sorry. I told Ella everything with Brad, but you know, like I am a very anxious person. I deal with it like for real. And my one of my ways of coping is and confiding to my friends. I'm feeling some type of way because Michael's is one of my go-tos for that usually, but now he's the one causing the anxiety. So where do we go from there? Bella just keeps telling like, like just talk to him, just talk to him. She's like, I know he's not trying to talk to you right now and is actively avoiding you. But at some point, just have that conversation one on one. Cause otherwise this is going to turn into something like way bigger. Michael's and like both say we are like super close family type friends. So this just hits like in a very different way, very real way for them. So TJ's and Michael's are setting up for dinner because they're having a little ho down throw down. All the boys are in overalls. They've all done them up their their way. Brad is in brown overalls. I didn't know if this was like a Black Power Ranger type of thing. I don't know, but he looked good. I just had questions. We're in Charleston, you know, I can't lose sight of that. Joe a little slutty doing a little off the shoulder situation. Michael's is sporting a little white tank top under his just like a little bit more elevated fashion wise. So TJ and Michael's are setting the table and TJ's trying to figure out the forks and knives go on opposite sides of the plate or like what's the deal? Michael sells me. Yes. And TJ's like, what did you go to? Cotillion or something? Turns out yeah. So then Michael's tells a story in a confessional about how he and his twin sister Michelle were six when they moved from the Bronx down to Charleston and they were getting in trouble because instead of being like, yes, ma'am, no, ma'am, yes, or no, sir, the teachers were talking to them and they were like, yeah, what? So her mom was like, you know what? They're mom. Stop. You're no longer from from the Bronx. That's over. Put them in Cotillion. Put them in ballroom dance. TJ's in a confessional like, you did all this mama and you didn't think that he would be gay? Hello. Emmy's wide eyed. She's braiding her hair. She's unbraiding her hair. She's running her hair through her fingers through her hair. There's like a constant thing shout out to somebody. I wish I could remember your username, but you were on threads who pointed out that Emmy is always got a purse on her. Like she never goes anywhere without her purse and how ridiculous that is because they're in a cabin, you know, they're like on the lake. You're not going anywhere, but to the backyard for dinner. Why do you even have a purse? What are you hiding? Everybody's out here. What's in that purse, girl? Emmy, open the bag. What's in there? Some people were floating some ideas of what might be in there jingling at the bottom of her bag. I'm wondering, is there a bug in there? Is Will listening to everything and he's just all, they hooked up that little purse with a listening device. And I'm, you know, I just have to wonder, like, do you think she's channeling Pink Pantherous? Because Pink Pantherous will go on any stage and she'll have a little, little tiny purse tucked under her. Is that what she's doing? I don't think so. What's in there? So once again, Emmy is revving herself up to have another conversation with Brad. Maddie, again, tries to coach her through it, lower your expectations. If Brad wants to talk to you, just say, Hey, I misspoke. This is what I felt. This is what I actually meant. Maddie, you know what she felt, what she said, what she meant was all the same. But sure. The producer asks Emmy in a confessional, what is it that you want to explain to Brad? She says, I don't want to fight with him anymore. I'm just not going to take accountability for something I didn't do. Let's even say that she did not literally use the word unsafe. She still got the show involved in some form or fashion by asking to have them switch rooms for her. So I mean, if you didn't say unsafe, you certainly showed that with your actions by involving production. And you know what I mean? Like it kind of doesn't matter because of what you also did. There's a lot of conversation about Emmy being harmful. And I'm more of the opinion of she would be if she could be. But it's not working in this case. So in that sense, it's very interesting and fascinating to watch a woman repeatedly attempt to weaponize tears, the inability to breathe, you know, whatever thing that she comes up in her head and in her purse. And like everybody is without a doubt understanding of Brad. Nobody tries to fight him on that. They're, dare I say, almost being allies to them by, you know, Justin, for example, telling him, oh, Emmy completely took that back. I had a conversation with her. She did a complete 180, just so you know. And nobody really like Maddie, I think, I would say was being like the softest on her. And then like Lake to some extent, but then I think Lake learns a very important lesson later. But I, it's interesting just to watch. This just be like, yeah, people are on Brad's side, they completely like nobody's even like if this were Southern charm, this would have never even gotten this far. Like Vanita would have been like we wouldn't even been had a conversation about like anything. It wouldn't even gotten to step one. But here we are like everybody's allowing Brad to hold a boundary. They fully understand they're on his side. They're actively telling Emmy like this is not right. Here's a way to go about it, I guess. But like, hey girl, he does have a point and he's very valid in his feelings. And I really appreciate that. But then we do have to get to Michaels. I have to, you know, I have to give them a little wrist slap here. Like we're doing a little too much. He goes in to see the girls like you know, Lake was hanging out with the girls. He's watching the girls curl on the hair getting glam, whatever getting dressed, then Lake walks in. And Michael immediately starts looking down at his phone like he's so busy texting and then leaves and everybody clocks it like oh that was really uncomfortable. Clearly he was trying to make a pointy leg, which you know does not help. Emmy then goes into Brad's room. And she tells him obviously I want to respect you and when you want to talk I just want you to know I'm open to having that conversation whenever you're comfortable. So Brad's like yeah okay just let's just do this now. Like get it over with. Brad tells us I would rather do anything than talk to Emmy right now but I'm in hand of my word. I know this has to happen but my mindset is that this is probably the last conversation we're gonna have. So Emmy tells Brad I just want to start off the conversation by saying I did not mean to offend you. I wish when we had the conversation I would have changed the word that you brought up which was unsafe. It wasn't about my safety or the fact that I felt that and Brad's like well that's exactly what she said. Emmy then says yeah but I just want to clarify like my safety was never my concern. Brad tells her it really feels like you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. Emmy says I feel like I've actually maybe just been a little passive in my apology. Brad says it's not passive. The problem is that you're saying one thing and then later you're changing your mind. Like you're saying one thing to me and then the next day you're saying something to Justin that's contradictory to what you told me. So I don't really believe a word that's coming out of your mouth at this point and that's the most frustrating part is that we've been friends for a very long time and I loved you and you said things behind my back instead of saying it to my face and then Emmy starts playing dumb. What did I say? Brad says you apologized to me at Folly Beach and then you said to Justin I'm only apologizing so that Brad and TJ don't ruin my life. Emmy tries to be like no um let me be clear about the context and Brad says it's not context you just said I'm sorry. That's what you should have said and just left it at that. The way the no accountability community has taken hold and bastardized the word context is really chapped my ass over these last few years but I feel like that's a word that's no longer ours anymore. I feel like every time I hear oh somebody saying I was taken out of context I'm like well now I know that you weren't. You say that I'm thinking the opposite immediately. But Emmy tries to push back again. No there is context and Brad's like well I again I think it should just be I'm sorry and then move forward and then don't say anything after that. So here comes Emmy. No wait I want to speak to you. No I I meant my apologies at Folly and I would really rather make up and have a good summer with you guys and have us attack each other and Brad's like no no no I'm not attacking you. I'm hurt. You're sorry to me did not feel genuine. It feels like bullshit time and time again and I'm fucking tired of it. I'm over it. I'm done talking about it and then he gets up and he leaves her on the balcony and when I tell you this man does not even round the corner and make it into the house before she starts trying to get into crash bandicoot mode Brad says in a confessional once I found out that Emmy didn't really mean her apology there was no fixing it it's torched. Cut to Emmy in a confessional you not letting me speak and not letting me get my point out is so silencing silencing babe please go away from me with this. Michael then finds Emmy she's huffing and puffing and whispering like full victim voice I just need to say I like I like I haven't been able to give you a true apology and then Michael's gets like really mean because Lake tries to see what's going on and he looks at her and goes go away we don't need an audience literally shoes her away does a little shoe motion with its hand it's funny because it's uncomfortable like this is really crazy we don't need an audience lake like that's so mean. Brad goes to the rest of the group and tells them listen we can coexist in the same place Emmy and I can have mutual friends we're just not going to be friends and everybody's like fine no problem Mia tells Brad fair enough just wondering though was like there any chance that you could have had a friendship with her Brad tells me I don't need friends like her and then he says in a confessional I don't know what's real or fake but if you have to sit there and use your white woman tears to get out of a situation that's it for me so they're like all right well let's go have dinner Justin's try to make some sort of magic mic dinner theater moment and have all the guys serve the women and their overalls it gets basically ruined by Emmy but like thanks for the steak I guess. TJ tells the group I made the table because I'm gay and then they just showed Mia trying to process why would you say that of course we go back to Emmy she's still hemming and puffing about how she was not able to say her piece to Brad Brad wouldn't let her she has not said anything you know that she was upset about Brad with yet Brad hurt my feelings where's my apology? Maddie says I do believe that Emmy might deserve to say her feelings but then Michaels tells Maddie but here's the thing just until Brad that you said the only reason why you apologized to him and TJ is so that he wouldn't ruin your life so Emmy as your friend you got to stop saying things like that like you got to put yourself in a position where you're not putting your foot in your mouth Emmy's like all right well I need to go into my room to breathe so they go down to dinner Mia goes back in to tell Emmy take two big breaths Cyril but I got to tell you Brad's feelings are valid you can't control how he feels about what you said but of course Emmy's still crying and saying it was such a good day Mia says in a confessional I don't think Emmy's helping her isolating herself from the group so really the best she can say is Emmy if you were in you probably wouldn't like you either and then Emmy like has a full revelation like you know what you're right I probably wouldn't that's a good point and then Emmy really seems to have a true revelation and she tells Mia I realized that I can't apologize and then take it back just because I didn't get the apology that I wanted uh yeah why are we starting with an apology that you're own for what girl is this back to the text message about your dead to me two bitch because we've already ad nauseam gone over the fact that he heard you say Mike uh TJ and Brad are dead to me that's why the two's in there it didn't come from nowhere also why would he apologize to you after finding out that you didn't even mean the apology that you gave to him so Emily Emmy finally goes to the table she tries to make a little joke oh gosh I just probably invest in waterproof mascara huh Mia changes the subject thank god asking like what were you so upset about because you were being real emo earlier when we were playing volleyball Maddie says I feel like Lake didn't feel okay because she heard that you guys were talking about her Michaels Michael says it's not a secret that I have 1000% been very frustrated with you like recently you broke my trust it wasn't for you to get involved in something that wasn't your situation to talk about Lake says but I only got involved when I heard that Brad was upset with me and Michael says like right but then I told you not to talk to anybody about it Lake says but the information was already out there so it really wasn't a big deal that I said something he goes no it wasn't stop lying stop fucking lying stop lying Lake stop lying so Lake gets upset she gets up and walks back towards the house Joe's sitting there like I have no idea what's going on Michael's then follows Lake back into the house but he's like walking like a cowboy and so they're like why is he all bowed up like he just says that's just the top in him so Michael's finds Lake crying in the bathroom he's asking her why are you crying you were the one who broke my trust by talking to Ella and Lake says okay well let's not be friends then okay like I'm sorry I'm sorry just leave me alone and Lake is like all right fine fine he walks out and then is like don't speak to me I don't care Michael says everybody in the group out of everybody in the group Lake is most like his family he doesn't really have relationships with his biological family so he feels bad that he lost his temper but when his trust is broken it hurts on a deeper level when it's from Lake so then the hilarious thing is Michael's then turns into the Emmy he starts crash band and then Brad turns into the Michaels that Michael's is for Emmy Michael's breathe just breathe just take a breath in and out just breathe Michael's listen I don't want to sit here and try to excuse Michael's behavior and say that he's harmless because I do think there is a harmful impact to him turning up yelling at people I don't think like anybody's in immediate danger because to me Michael's is a highly emotional person but yeah he's got to chill out on that but y'all this becomes the scene of the episode for me because Michael's is back at the table Emmy's this Emmy decides to go to the bathroom to check in on Lake she and her purse have some work to do thank you Parenting's full of little challenges Nappy rash doesn't have to be one of them introducing coli for Nappy Care spray a clinically proven hypoallergenic spray that protects your baby's delicate skin from day one no thick creams no rubbing no mess just spray and go gentle enough for newborns and perfect for busy parents who want nappy changes to be quick and fuss free help prevent Nappy rash before it starts with coli for Nappy Care spray Available now on Amazon. Amy gives like, I would say maybe one and a half to two sentences to explain why she's upset and actively crying in this moment before Amy tells her, it's not your fault. And I just feel like the craziest part of it all is that like, it had nothing to do with Brad's skin color, what I said, and I'll never get to express that to him. Like, I'm not denying his feelings, but like at the end of the day, I need to say my piece. And then Amy starts crying and goes, am I not entitled to feeling uncomfortable? You know what I mean? Like, like am I not allowed to vocalize how I feel? Like, I completely stopped crying at this point. She's just staring at me like, are you serious? As those tears were drying on Lake's cheeks, she's realizing like, I really should not have defended you girl. This wrong road. Brad tells us in a confessional that he's starting to feel bad for Lake because he feels like Michaels has turned his situation with Lake into a reason to be mad at Lake himself. But he and Lake are good. So whatever's going on between Michaels and Lake is like way deeper than what happened between him and Lake. So Lake goes back to the table. She tells Michaels, my way of coping is to confide in others. So I'm sorry that by telling Ella, I broke your trust. I was just like trying to figure things out. And I was also on the defense because I don't want to be painted as somebody who doesn't defend people of color. So I just like hate that this is what happened to our relationship. Because I hate not talking to you. And I hate that you won't acknowledge me. So they're both crying. Lake is crying. Michaels is crying. Then Lake apologizes to everybody and they're like, it's okay, Lake. Brad tells her, I think what you said was great. I fully accept your apology. We're good. Everybody's like, we love you Lake. And then at the end of the table is any smoking a joint, it was definitely a hand rolled something. No, this was not a Marlboro. But then she says, wow. And a confessional. Brad accepted Lake's apology. And I'm right here. I'm literally right here. I wanted to have a conversation, but I'm not getting any of the same respect and grace that everybody around me is getting. Girl. The word context, please look up what it means and then go back into all the things you've done and see where that actually fits in your responsibility in this. If the reason why the apology from Lake to Brad can be accepted is because she didn't do anything. This all goes back to you, ma'am. This all goes back to you. Brad is upset with or was upset with Lake because you were on some bullshit and she didn't call you out for it as your closest friend. It's very different from you starting this whole thing. But anyway, child, dinner's over. Everybody's besides I have fun. Molly's passed out. Justin and Mia are sitting out by the fire and he's telling her, I actually like read good energy. And I do think like if we were able to hang out together, we would have a great time. Just come over to the pool. Just do that and we'll be fine. Michael's and TJ see them sitting out and they're yelling like, kiss, kiss. But then they're like, how about if me and TJ kiss, you guys kiss. So they're like, yeah, bet, do it. Then Justin and Mia kiss and he tells her that was like some electric type shit. I would leave immediately. Okay, I just silently walk into the river and you would never see me again. So at the end of the night, Michael's and TJ get in bed and Michael says, we need to watch Salt Lake City. And then incredible camera work because it's just dark. All you can see is like the blue light of the television. Bronwyn's got a boxer in her lap, one of her little boxer puppies, Lisa Barlow's driving. This is like Bronwyn's first season that they're watching. And then you can hear just like, you can't see them at all. You can't see Michael's and TJ at all. And then all of a sudden, you're like, oh, you got a nice ass. And Michael's or TJ's asking Michael's, is that your aunt eater? And Michael's telling TJ, don't be scared of it. And then Michael says that stuff you put on your butt tastes good. A million questions immediately. When did what stuff? How long ago did you put it on your butt? When did you alert Michael to the stuff on your butt? What flavor was it? Do I want to know that? I don't know. Just tell me what it was. I don't need to know the flavor. Do you just put it on the cheeks or is it more like centrally located? I've never heard of this. The next morning, everybody's waking up worse for wear, not Justin. He's knocking on everybody's door like, wake up guys and like, even Maddie, she's not trying to do it. Michael's got a whisk from the kitchen and starts massaging Mia's leg with it because she said it hurt. I don't know what the hell's going on. Molly went to bed last but then woke up later than everybody. Like, truly night of the living dead. So they start gossiping like, what happened last night? Justin and Mia, you guys made out? Mia, do you care about Jordan yet? And she's like, no, I don't. And I don't blame her. Like, I don't know this girl. We are not friends. She tells everybody, I really don't think Jordan and I are friends. Molly and I are friends and Jordan is Molly's roommate. But like, I'm not sending memes to Jordan. We don't hang out. Like, we're not friend friends. Mia then tells us this being a single is a pringle. Okay. Justin says that a confessional I call Jordan to explain what happened before a leak inevitably told her. And I just got cussed out, you know, FU, you're this, you're that. Probably drag the situation ship on for maybe a little bit too long. So as they're packing up, Joe is reminded by Maddie, you have a birthday to plan. He's like, oh, right. I completely forgot about that. Then Joe reminds himself, because I remembered that this is a ticketed event. Like, he only calmed 100 tickets for his friends. So he's got to make sure that he sells those tickets. So he makes the money back that he put into this, which was five months of rent for an emo night themed 30th birthday party. Okay. I don't even know, like, well, I guess we'll see. This is Joe's biggest storyline this season. Are you going to make the money back on your emo night themed 30th birthday party? Joe, the smarter thing would have been to get somebody to host your birthday and that they would pay you, not you're in the hole on your own birthday party to get strangers to buy tickets. That doesn't make sense, babe. Like, I understand that he's doing this like half as I'm trying to prove to Leva that I can go into business with them so that they will give me a functional and successful restaurant or bar just because I'm here and I put the work in at some point in time, not any time recently, but like years ago. Leva has made it very clear this whole season that Joe is truly joking Joe Bradley to her. He's gone from spoken to joking. And everything he does is lol worthy in terms of getting into business with her not happening. I can tell you what you can do, but I already know that you're not gonna and he's already reneged on that. So listen, I come from the era where people were making very hefty paychecks, doing club appearances. I don't know what the going rate is anymore. I know it's not like it used to be. It's not like the early 2000s. I don't know if you're getting more than you know credit for She-In or something, a Chili's gift card, I'm not sure. But that still would be an asset. You and Maddie could go split a triple dipper. That's a romantic date. I'm not kidding. Also, I'm having this realization. Your girl's a DJ. How about you guys go into cahoots, you plan parties, and then she DJs and then like you kind of bring the part, you know, like that feels like a very simple answer right there. Babe, while you're out on tour with her, how about you get to know the owners of the venues and talk to them about how to like drum something up? Like, how can I come up with this idea and this ending would occur to you? Anyway, child, before they all leave, people want to know because this is a question of basically every episode. Did you get your ass eaten? He doesn't want to say anything. And they're like, okay, who's like what? I said nothing. Mia in a confessional is me. These are two young, beautiful men exploring each other's bodies. I'm all for it. Eat mine while you're at it. So then we head back to Charleston. Maddie and Joe wake up. He says he's hungover and she's like, all right, well, I'm not. Maddie tells us, I know Joe's going through a lot. He's turning 30. He's really lost in his career, but it's almost like he goes to alcohol to cope with it. Then it shows a clip of Joe hanging out with T.J. saying, I kind of like working at Republic Steel, but only for like maybe an hour or two before I want to start drinking. And then he takes a sip of his cocktail. And then he's drinking in another clip. But Joe then tells Maddie, I don't want to propose to you while I'm still working the door at Republic. I want to do more. And I told Leva, as she told me, like, had I not gone to a few of your DJ sets and they would have considered me as a partner for like the new location on King Street. So is the onus now on Maddie? Because you did kind of say like, oh, well, Maddie was going through things. And that's why I needed to go on tour with her because she said she needed me. Now, we have not heard Maddie ever express that she told Joe that I'm not saying she didn't. I'm just saying, I can't recall a time where she has confirmed this to be true. It seems like an excuse to have fun. Can't blame you. You're on a show. Like, I feel like if you're in a situation like Joe is in where you're a few years onto a show, it looks like things are going to go well. You guys are going to continue. Hopefully, there's buzz being generated. You're getting a little clout. I fully understand you're not really trying to work the door anymore. And to be honest with you, like, maybe this is me being like cool Aunt Cara, I kind of like can't really begrudge people in these positions for being like, fuck actual responsibilities. I'm just going to have fun and like coast off this Bravo check for a little bit. You know, and then maybe if you have to go back to real life, then you go back to real life. You know, it's not that bad. Like, I feel like they're in a good space where they can kind of be like, you know, but again, I don't want these people to be too big for their bridges. You all still got to have roommates and stuff or, you know, Emmy's still living in the studio. I love that for her. The same one she's been living in this whole time. So, you know, I still need you guys down to a level. But like, do I really have the expectation that they're like, actively working at Republic, like all year round? No, I should they should be at a level where like, if you pop in, you can expect to see at least the two or three of them on the cast. But not all the time. But then on the other hand, the real storyline to Joe is not that he is, you know, feeling some type of way that Leva hasn't given him a restaurant is that he's truly, this show has kind of led him to be completely directionless. My other point of like, I'm sort of fine of people in this position like doing whatever is that usually those people are getting brand deals. Like there's some other side hustle happening that doesn't have to do with them physically literally clocking in at Republic. And that doesn't seem to be happening with Joe either. Like he's just having fun. I don't know if he's like selling protein powder on IG or not. But like, I don't think he's truly taking advantage of any aspect of his fame other than fun seas. So when everybody is in the back at Republic for their shift, their actual on on the show shift, Leva thrown shade at Joe and saying, Hey, we've only sold a few tables tonight. That's pathetic. You guys really need to hustle. So Joe says, I know this is about me. I don't know. I guess I'm just preoccupied with playing my own event. Like, sir, you already admitted that simply going to Edisto made you completely forget that you even have this event. But okay. But then he's like, you know what, I don't need somebody breathing down my freaking neck. Michaels has a little conversation to zoom chat with his new manager that he met in LA, because Michaels wants to do big things. He wants the model. He wants to be a Tommy Hillfager boy, a Ralph Lauren boy. He knows Charleston is not the place where that's going to happen. Got to be in New York or LA. He's got big dreams. And this manager that he met in LA really sold him on a lot. And then it's like, you know what, I got the the cover of so gay. And I love that for him. I don't it's not a physical magazine, I think it's internet, but that's a good first step for Michaels. I love that. I'm not throwing shade because this is a gay publication, of course, I'm throwing shade a little bit just a tiny bit at the manager for being like, I see you in Times Square with like a full billboard. And I got you internet website. You got the cover of a website. Here you go, babe. So at the end of the episode, we get to another day at Republic. It's raining. And it's not good with Maddie and Joe. Joe shows up 23 minutes late. But before he shows up, Maddie sells Michael, I'm a little bit pissed at Joe, because he told me he was working here last night. But then I saw his location and he was at a completely different bar. Now, Maddie says in a confessional, I'm not this Uber tracker. Okay, I only track Joe when he's not responding just to make sure he's not dead in a ditch somewhere. And then she tells Michaels, I also hate to perception perception that I have anything to do with Joe missing out on work when he's coming out on tour with me. And there it is. I don't want no parts of this narrative that I'm the one who's holding you back from your career. I want you to have one, sir, please. I would love for you to have one. So Joe finally shows up. He's trying to talk to Maddie, but Maddie's like giving him the silent treatment. So they go back to the break room. Maddie says, I checked your location last night, you were not at Republic, you were at a whole other bar and I don't find that appropriate. And then she tells him, I support you starting a business, I support you doing better in your life. I don't support you saying you're going to do that. And then drinking and going on benders. And Joe's like, I wasn't on a bender. I went home at 11 o'clock. I could show you my Uber. I know I'm turning 30, but holy shit, Maddie. Maddie tells him, if you would just spend less time out at the bars and I don't know at home, I think by now you really could have come up with a proposal. Maybe Leva would have given you a bar by now. Joe says, I worked until one and then I went to Lamar's, which is work too. They get into it because Maddie swears, Joe told her Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I'm going to be working and he swears, I did not tell you that. So then Joe tries to throw it at Maddie and be like, so what is it that you want? You want me to spend more time with you? And Maddie's like, Oh no, actually, I think we need space. I think our realities aren't matching up. And I think it's inappropriate that you're going out and you're going to after parties and you're hanging out well after the business is closed. And Joe says, I sent you a picture of me in bed at 11 15. Maddie says in a confessional, this is the first time in any relationship where I've been more worried about my boyfriend getting wasted than cheating on me. Babe, I hate that those are the options. She says this whole thing is very triggering to my sobriety. So then Joe's like, all right, well, I'm leaving. Because you begged me not to work here in the first place. And Maddie turns into Melissa Gorgor for a second. She goes, I did not do that. I got on my hands and knees, the frigging begging you to work. You don't work here, you show up and then you leave. Joe tells her it's all in your brain. He walks out, she follows him into the alley. He's backing up in his truck. Michaels is on the phone. He's trying to figure out what Maddie's saying to him while he's having a conversation with somebody else. So Joe leaves. Maddie tells Michaels, she's crying. And she goes, I just feel like he's going on all the time and getting hammered. And then I feel like I'm a fucking enabler. And I don't know if I'm mentally okay with being dating the town drunk. And I actually don't blame Leva for not wanting to go into business with him. And when she said town drunk, Michaels was like, I get it. Uh oh. Charles Stonians, let me know what is Joe's reputation? Is he like truly like, what's going on? Is this like a shorts getting lost at the hotel situation? Or like, are we having to like cart him down King Street? Like, I want to know. Thank you guys so much for listening. Thank me for speaking. Love you. Bye. Income tax is changing for sole traders and landlords from April 2026. It's called making tax digital for income tax.
