Summary

Colin Cowherd and Daniel Jeremiah discuss the 2025 NFL Draft landscape, focusing on quarterback evaluations (particularly Fernando Mendoza), draft weaknesses in running backs and QB depth, and team-specific offseason strategies. The episode also covers NFL free agency trends, coaching changes, and NBA All-Star Weekend predictions.

Insights
  • Draft weaknesses in RB and QB positions will drive significant free agency spending, with teams forced to overpay for veteran talent due to limited draft supply
  • Fernando Mendoza emerges as the safest, most complete prospect in the 2025 draft class despite being less athletically gifted than previous top QB prospects
  • Coaching coordinator changes (like Clint Kubiak leaving Seattle) can dramatically impact team performance more than roster moves, evidenced by Detroit's drop-off after Ben Johnson's departure
  • Organizational culture and player character (competitiveness, toughness, lack of selfishness) are stronger predictors of draft success than athletic measurables
  • Player loyalty in professional sports is fundamentally transactional; career moves are business decisions, not character flaws
Trends
Transfer portal creating better evaluation data for college QB assessment across different coaching systems and talent levelsInterior offensive line depth becoming critical priority for contending teams, especially those with star tackles already in placeDefensive coordinator departures creating organizational instability and performance drops in subsequent seasonsYoung NBA players demonstrating higher defensive effort and engagement than veteran All-Stars in competitive settingsOrganizational dysfunction (like Cleveland Browns) creates self-perpetuating cycles of poor decision-making and fan cynicismOffensive coordinator system knowledge becoming more valuable than individual player talent in modern NFLSchedule strength and rookie QB matchups significantly impacting playoff probability predictionsPlayer movement normalizing across NBA; franchise loyalty becoming increasingly rare for star players

You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Daniel Jeremiah works at the NFL Network. He's got a podcast. It's a good one, Move the Sticks. His 24th NFL Combine coming up. Somebody we rely on and trust as the NFL season ends. You know, it's interesting, Daniel, you know this. A lot of times the free agent market can be initiated and propelled because there are weaknesses in the draft. So it's obviously, if you look, I mean, there's some really good edge rushers. It's a pretty good D-line draft. I think in the first round, at least, there's some nice offensive tackles, a couple at Utah maybe. Where is the draft lacking, in your opinion, which will increase the activity in free agency in March? Well, I would give you two positions, Colin. First of all, the running back position. Draft-wise, I think we have one first-round caliber back, and then I think there's a chance we don't see one even go in the second round, and we'll see a flurry of them there after at that point. So I think there's a really good crop of free agent running backs, which is going to inform maybe some franchise tag opportunities for teams or teams are going to be aggressive and going out and paying some of these young veterans that are on the market. And then the obvious elephant in the room is the quarterback. I mean, there's there's one for sure quarterback who everybody believes, myself included, goes one one. And then there's a conversation on Ty Simpson and where does he fit into this whole thing? But when you have one and a half first round caliber quarterbacks, and there's a lot of teams out there that have a need at the position, it's good to be the Malik Willises. It's good to be the Niners holding on to Mac Jones to see what comes their way as well. Yeah. So let's get to two evals. I like Fernando Munoza kind of more than everybody else does. I don't think he's Andrew Luck or Sam Darnold athleticism. But I think the staff showed me something this morning. Tom Telesco, our friend, said Matt Ryan. I think he's bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Matt Ryan, although I think that's a good comp. I think he is a, if he gets decent coaching, he is a plus player. He's a franchise guy. I'll make a couple Pro Bowls. Maybe several, three or four. is that i mean i think he's big accurate he's been bloodied his lip multiple times he's some say that indiana offense is too simplistic maybe they need what do you see well yeah i talked to tom and i actually i told him i was going to steal some of that with with matt ryan because i i do like that just in terms of kind of the grittiness toughness uh you know aspect of it i look at quarterbacks almost in terms of families as opposed to just like that single comp. I think if you had kind of that Jared Goff, Matt Ryan family, he kind of fits into that family, whether or not, whether or not he's a brother or a cousin, I'll let everybody else figure that out. But that's kind of the style of quarterback that he is. And for the evaluation part of it, look, when you go through and you watch third and seven plus throws, which weeds out all the RPOs that everybody complains about, when you go look at him in the red zone, when you go look at him in big games, when you look at him on big moments, see the end of the Penn State game, see the national championship game. This guy stepped up and done it every single time. So I'm a huge believer in him. And I would also say for as much grief as everybody has all this problem with the transfer portal, what the transfer portal has done for the evaluation process, we've seen Bo Nix with inferior players at Auburn, then go play with good players at Oregon and look at the play and look what you get there. We saw Cam Ward, who is an incarnate word to Washington State, to all of a sudden he gets with Miami, and look what he does with real players. Now we're seeing with Mendoza, who is a good player at Cal, but he gets a great coach and a great infrastructure, and the guy goes undefeated, wins the Heisman Trophy in the national championship. So I thought Jackson Dart was more of a top-of-the-second-round guy. He went in the first and had a good year. I was wrong. I think Ty Simpson feels like a top-of-the-second-round guy, but I could see the Rams taking him. They got two firsts. How do you evaluate Ty Simpson at Bama? Yeah, he's my 40th player, you know, as we are in the process right now, which I wouldn't – look, if somebody wants to take him with the 25th pick. That's not that out of realm of possibility, and I would think that's not really a reach based off how I evaluated him. I don't think he's one of those quarterbacks you drop into any of the 32 rooms and he's going to have success, you know, any system, any supporting cast. I do think you need to protect him. He's mechanically sound. He throws a nice ball. He's got touch and accuracy. But when bodies get around him, I thought there's times he plays a little small. And then the guy's only started 15 games and he's been beat up. So those are the negative sides of it. That's why I kind of slot him outside my top 32. But if you're the Rams, you've got a great offensive line. He doesn't have to step in and play right away. So that lack of experience, we can kind of give you some of that in our system before we needed you to play. I can understand that. Yeah. Let's go back. This is always fun. Sam Darnold, go back online. Tell me what your evaluation was. well i it's it uh it used to be hidden underneath my bed for a couple years colin when uh my my report now it hangs up next to my diploma uh on the wall i'm gonna have it engraved uh but uh no i look he was my top quarterback in that draft class and i was actually talking about him the year before because he has that rose bowl game you know against saquon barkley and penn state and that epic comeback he makes some big time throws in that game and i had mentioned at the combine before he was draft eligible, like this is the guy everybody's talking about is next year's quarterback, you know, and Sam Darnold because of, you know, just kind of the natural way he plays the game, the ball explodes out of his hand. He's just a real, he's just a real fluid, natural athlete who's got an explosive arm. And he went to a tough situation. And, you know, I do, you know, look, I'm so happy for him because he's such a good dude. And I have always believed in the ability, but I don't agree with the, well, you know, the Jets, they shouldn't have just stayed there eventually would have happened. I think he needed to get out of New York. I think he needed to get somewhere else. I think that was good for him. And I think being around Shanahan that time there was an incredibly smart decision on his part, knowing that, look, I'm going to soak up everything this guy has. Not only is he going to help me learn football, but then there's also the reality that this is the offensive system that half the league runs because they all come from underneath his tree. So for him to have the maturity to take a step back and learn that, I thought that's one of the reasons why he is where he is. You know how good John Snyder is. And I was just wondering, this popped into my head, when you look at the Seahawks. He's gone like eight for his last eight or nine for his last nine on first and second round guys. Not only does it miss, they all become really good. Some become incredibly special. And I think that the safety from South Carolina, people said right after the draft, that guy's going to be a star. That's one of the easier second round guys. Does he have a theme? I mean, why is he such a good drafter? You've been doing this. Is there something he does that other GMs don't do? I mean, we're putting it up now. I'm sorry to the radio audience. We're putting it on television. Just no misses. You tell me, what's his secret to this stuff? Well, he lets the draft fall to him, for one. Eamon Wario, I think, was my 15th or 16th overall player. I'm not saying everybody has it the same, but this guy was a first-round talent who just kind of fell to him. So he took him there. But when you start looking at guys who, when I was in Baltimore, we had a red star meeting where you would go through and each scout could put a red star on one player in the draft. Didn't necessarily mean they were the best player, but they were the guy that was just the most competitive. We talked like he played like a raven, like he fit us. And when you look through like JSN, ultra competitive, tough, physical. Gray Zabel, you go to the senior bowl, he took 9 million reps. Everybody was trying to go against him and he slaughtered everybody. like super, super competitive on and on and on. Kenneth Walker uplifted that entire Michigan State program on his shoulders. Like these guys are all guys are passionate, love football, and there's no turds. There's no jerks. There's no selfishness in that group. They're all good dudes, good competitive dudes. That to me is the overall theme. Yeah it I want to ask you about the Chargers because you work on their broadcast And we said I said you lose Jesse Minter your defense probably not quite as good You gain Mike McDaniel, you'll be a much more effective passing offense, plus you get your tackles back. Plus the Chargers have cap space. I mean, this is conjecture and projecting, but J-Mac and I agree on one thing next year, is that the Chargers will go from a team that was surviving on offense and flourishing on defense, or the offense could be spectacular next year. And the defense may, I mean, Minter was a really, really good defensive coordinator. You tell me with the Chargers, with that cap space and Mike McDaniel, what do you think they'll target in the draft, and what will they look like next year? Because we both believe week one, you're going to watch the Chargers and go, okay, this is the Harbaugh-Herbert thing that we thought we'd get this year? Well, Colin, I think when you look at free agency, I could see them targeting interior offensive line. When you look at the draft, I could see them targeting interior offensive line. When you look at the trade market, we could also target the interior of the offensive line. When the draft's over and you want to bring in some extra bodies, we'll bring in some more interior offensive line. So, I mean, that is priority A, B, and C, and it's providing overall depth of that offensive line, and investing in a third tackle that you really, really like so that you're covered. I think if they have an offensive line that's healthy and deep, because the tackles are two of the best in football. So just healthy and deep along the interior, having a third tackle out there that can withstand some injuries. All these young guys, these skill guys on offense, these first and second year players that they've drafted with Joe Ortiz there are awesome. Like McConkie, I think you'll see him go to another level in this system. Quentin Johnson, you know, for all the abuse he caught for, you know, some of the drops early on is a functional, solid player. Yes. Trey Harris, the rookie at Ole Miss, made some big catches. Rondae Gadsden is a talented rookie tight end. Omari and Hampton could be one of the top five backs in the league. These guys are all on rookie contracts. They cost you nothing. So to me, it's really about just getting this offensive line locked in. And then defensively, you've got young corners. Derwin's still playing in an elite level. You've got a sign. You know, you've got some free agents on the edge with Owe and Mack. but they have plenty of space to do that. Maybe a defensive tackle, you know, or two and free agency or the draft. But I don't know if I mentioned it, Colin, I would probably address the interior of the offensive line. Absolutely. And finally, just because somebody gets drafted number one, doesn't mean they're the best player. It's usually a quarterback because it's a quarterback star of league. Is there a best player in the draft? Like everybody talks Arville Reese. And my take is, well, the position he'll play in the NFL may not be quite what he's doing now. He's going to get bigger. It could be edge. I look at Bain at Miami and I'm like, oh, that's fully formed. That guy's going to walk in and play. I think actually Miami's got an offensive lineman that feels like you could put him at guard tackle like that dude's going to start day one. I think that running back from Notre Dame looks like that. Like, oh, that guy's going to pop. Is there a guy, if you just said best player, can't miss, because all quarterbacks can miss, even the good ones early. Who's the can't miss in the draft? Well, I mean, I'd have love up there, you know, the running back from Notre Dame. I still, you know, normally I am true to the grade. So even if, you know, I know Cam Ward's going to be the first pick, he might be my fourth or fifth player in the draft. So that's, you know, it's rare that you kind of have the quarterback. Just in this draft, because, you know, there's flaws in all of these guys, you know, Baines, not the prototypical, you know, arm length and all the other stuff that comes along with that, that you can poke holes in all of them. To me, Mendoza, I'm like, he's one of the years where I think he is the best player in the draft, in my opinion. And I do think he is one of the safer picks in this year's draft. That's just kind of the way I look at it. I don't know. I think you've got to get really, really nitpicky to poke holes in him. I think he's got a chance to be a really good player, and that's why I have him as my number one guy. Okay, so is Fernando Mendoza, Daniel, how does he compare to Drake May? Is he in that class? Drake May is more athletic. I mean, he's a better mover, but are they kind of close? I would have those three guys from that draft just grade wise coming into the process over him so I had it Caleb Drake Jaden Daniels all three of those guys would carry a higher grade than Mendoza but in this draft class there's nobody else that I would put you know up there at other positions higher than the level that he's at I don't think he's as natural as Drake Drake's just it was so athletic and I mean and just had just such a good feel for for movement and getting around things and making things happen. I don't think he's quite, I think he's a little more robotic is what I would describe Mendoza. Yeah, that's fair. That's fair. Great seeing you as always, my man. Good to see you, buddy. Hey, the Dodgers haven't spent any more money in the last five minutes, so there's that. Listen, this is a pro-Dodger show, I'll tell you. Oh, gross. It's gross. Daniel Jeremiah. You know, listen, the scrappy upstart Dodgers, the grit you see, the determination, the hard scrabble attitude, very endearing. By the way, you're off tomorrow, J-Mac, so you have your you have your uh Don you have tomorrow headlines today in about 15 20 minutes We going to do that Yes sir All right great Thanks for announcing that to the audience Now my family is going to be like call me tomorrow Let's do stuff. I wanted to kind of a day off. Anyway, so let's go to Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills, Colin. Interesting off season ahead for a team that kind of, you know, maybe should have won that game in Denver, but there's a lot of roster questions ahead. How about this? Albert Breer believes Buffalo should target a wide receiver and free agency. and the two names Breer mentioned are Rasheed Shaheed from the Super Bowl champs and Alex Pierce from the Indianapolis Colts. Pierce is going to get paid for sure somewhere, maybe overpaid. Where are you on Shaheed or Pierce? Are they like Pierce? I don't, I feel like they're threes. They're not necessarily twos. No, I think Pierce is, I think Pierce is a two. I would go after Pierce because I think you can get 65 to 75 catches with Pierce. Rashid Shahid is a luxury player for the Seahawks because they had a number one. I don't think he's not a volume guy. He is a pop guy where he pops a kick return to get him down the sideline. Alec Pierce is a good player. Chris Ballard found him. I think he was Cincinnati, went to Indy. Good, good player. I like Alec Pierce. That would be a really solid number two. They've already got the slot kid at Buffalo. And, I mean, who knows? I mean, Keon Coleman may develop. Quentin Johnson just developed for the Chargers. He developed. So, what if Coleman develops into a good solid number two next to Pierce, who's a good solid two, slot guy's a three. You got James Cook, excellent tight ends. Maybe you solve your issue. I think Alec Pierce is a good player. Buffalo clearly needs a wide receiver in free agency. And, hell, maybe the draft, too. Maybe the draft as well. All right, let's move on to the Cleveland Browns, Colin. The factory of sadness in Cleveland. It is really bleak there. But they just hired Todd Munkin to replace Kevin Stefanski. Browns president Dave Jenkins. Are you ready for this? Yeah. He thinks people are kicking the Browns while they're down. But listen to the whole thing. Look, I think we're really easy to pick on right now because we haven't been successful. We haven't established a consistent run of success. But like any business, any industry, the more data and information we can have accessible to inform our decision making, we should be more successful. You've got to find experts that know roster development, that know player development from a coaching perspective, and you've got to let them operate. The culture can come from the top of the organization, from the owner and the ethos and what you want to be. But I think you've got to find great people to build that roster, to coach that roster, to drive the end result. well it he says it's easy to pick on us well yeah there's a reason it's not easy to pick on the seahawks or the rams or the niners they make mistakes at coach and quarterback repeatedly so this is not the market being out of touch this is the browns being poorly run yeah their last division title was 1989 i mean i don't even know how to put that in perspective i think i was in elementary school 1989 i don't you were probably what florida vegas i don't even know that is an eternity of course people are going to make fun of the browns you want to make fun of any team in the league obviously you make fun of the jets because i'm on the show but if a guy was a cleveland browns fan sitting here you'd be knocking those guys all the time they are arguably the worst run franchise in american professional sports are they not yeah i think so i mean i would say the jets the Cleveland Browns. Yeah, it stops right about there. Yeah, that's the bottom of the barrel. All right, final. Let's go to the NBA, Colin. Obviously, All-Star Weekend is ahead, which has everybody very exciting. But first, I got to ask about James Harden. I'm very excited about what Harden and Donovan Mitchell can do in the backcourt. So against the Wizards, he had 11 assists, only took four shots. Look at that behind-the-back dime. Yeah. I mean, that is gorgeous. I'm kind of a James Harden fan. However, he used the L word here, and I think you're going to be extremely interested in it. This is sixth team, and here's what he said about loyalty. It's basketball, and the whole quote-unquote loyalty thing is, I think it's overrated. You know, I think this is a business at the end of the day, and it's a lot of money involved and a lot of decisions that has to be made. If a player isn't producing or if you don't see him in the future or, you know, front office, some of them have to do like a job and want to keep their job, you know, so they got to feel like they got to do what's best for, you know, to keep their job and they trade players. Or if a guy isn't happy and he wants to be traded to somewhere else, then it's a problem. Not even just NBA, but like people that have normal jobs have, you know, have those same problems. It's just not magnified. I tend to agree with him I tend to agree basketball has always been a little transient, a little transactional and yeah, I mean listen, James Harden's a Hall of Famer I I don't think he's necessarily a winning player, he would push back on that but I mean he's been given like seven opportunities with great teammates and it always flames out so I think what you think of Harden is fair. I do think he's a better... Did they show this past? I always think James, he's got really good hands. He can be a really good distributor if he wants to. He's super skilled. There's no doubting. He is a all-time great offensive player, but he doesn't... I'm always like, if you don't care on the defensive end, it's like I'm critical of Luka or Carmelo. I know they're Hall of Famers, but when you don't care as a star on the defensive end, I think it leaks and bleeds through the organization. I mean, you say he's not a winning player. And that's, I would just say, in the postseason, he has had a lot of flops. Who cares about that? In the regular season, he's amazing. That's like Phillip Rivers' career. Phillip Rivers in the regular season was lights out. What did he do in the playoffs? Like, again, like, James Harden led the league in scoring, assists. Like, he's a really good player. I'm not doubting that. He's an excellent player. So, like, this is his sixth franchise, right? And all these people are like, oh, he's played for six different teams. Colin, how many jobs have you had, by the way, in your career? Because we know the NBA career is maybe 15 years, maybe 17. I mean, I've had more than six jobs. You've had. Why are people nitpicking Harden about this? Well, I mean, generally, a basketball career is 15 years. Mine's going to be 45. So if you have, it's all relative. I mean, I think if you have an NBA career, you become what I often call on the show, a bounce around the league guy. and Steph Curry doesn't bounce around the league because Golden State's never letting him go. LeBron bounced around on his terms. Yeah. But people have been worn out by James and relative to how gifted he is, he shouldn't have bounced around that much. He's too, what you'd hope, if he played defense, he wouldn't have left Houston. That's where he would have stayed. Well, again, in the history of the league, a lot of guys have been bounced around the league guys. I mean, hell, other than like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry, there's a handful of guys who only played for one franchise you know the stars they tend to i mean patrick ewing akim olaju a lot of these guys didn't end where they were major stars so i don't know i can't believe i'm defending james harden here maybe i'm trying to get an invite to his next birthday party at one of these jiggle joints that he goes to but um sounds like jay mac with the news well that's the news and thanks for stopping by the herd line we get tomorrow's headlines today. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays at noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the iHeartRadio app. In 2023, a story gripped the UK, evoking horror and disbelief. The nurse who should have been in charge of caring for tiny babies is now the most prolific child killer in modern British history. Everyone thought they knew how it ended. A verdict, a villain, a nurse named Lucy Letby. Lucy Letby has been found guilty. But what if we didn't get the whole story? The moment you look at the whole picture, the case collapses. I'm Amanda Knox, and in the new podcast, Doubt, the case of Lucy Letby, we follow the evidence and hear from the people that lived it to ask what really happened when the world decided who Lucy Letby was. No voicing of any skepticism or doubt. It'll cause so much harm at every single level if the British establishment of this is wrong. On June 11th, 1998, a deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department went missing. It's an all-out manhunt for John OJ. Every search and rescue team in L.A. County has been called in to help. Within days, tips started flooding into the Sheriff's Department. The rumor around the drug scene was that a deputy was taken care of. Is this the story of a man who just got lost in the desert? Or of a cover-up inside the nation's largest sheriff's department? A homicide captain saying, Detective, do not find out if this guy's guilty or innocent. Who does that? When segregation was the law, one mysterious black club owner had his own rules. We didn't worry about what went on outside. It was like stepping in another world. Inside Charlie's place, black and white people danced together. But not everyone was happy about it. You saw the KKK? Yeah, they were dressed up in their uniform. The KKK set out to raid Charlie, take him away from here. Charlie was an example of power. They had to crush him From Atlas Obscura Rococo Punch and Visit Myrtle Beach comes Charlie Place a story that was nearly lost to time Until now. I'm Anna Navarro, and on my new podcast, Bleep with Anna Navarro, I'm talking to the people closest to the biggest issues happening in your community and around the world. Because I know deep down inside right now, we are all cursing and asking what the bleep is going on. I'm talking to people like Julie K. Brown, who broke the explosive story on Jeffrey Epstein in 2018. These victims have been let down time and time again for decades and decades and decades by local law enforcement, by federal law enforcement, by administration after administration. The Justice Department, through I think we counted four presidential administrations, failed these victims. Listen to Bleep with Ana Navarro as part of the My Cultura podcast network. Available on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. well a day early first things first around the corner uh we get a day early version of tomorrow's headlines today j mac nfl season's closed out the nba season is heating up are you ready my friend i'm a little nervous colin this is a tough tough week let's say all right until you see these tomorrow's headlines today prediction time what will be the headline for the seahawks next season okay so again next season we haven't seen the draft we got the combine free agency a lot to happen but the headline for the seattle seahawks next season will be seattle got a latte learning to do okay as of now what are we february 12th something like that i have the seahawks missing the playoffs next year. Now, I know you're going to fall out of your chair, but just hear me out. This Clint Kubiak situation is going to be big, Colin. Again, we don't know who's going to be the replacement, but we just saw the impact that Ben Johnson had in Detroit. Massive drop-off. Then we talked about it. Three guys in the secondary, free agents, Shahid, Kenneth Walker, a lot of question marks out there. Obviously, Sam Darnold is a big one. He succeeded a lot with Kubiak. Is it going to work with the new guy? I don't know. And Colin, then we go to the old schedule. Okay. First place schedule, 10 of Seattle's 17 opponents were in the playoffs last year. Here are these road games at the Eagles at Denver. They also have to go to Washington and Carolina. If you're keeping track at home, that's three trips from Seattle to the East Coast next season. At home, it's not as difficult to schedule, but they do face Mahomes, Herbert, the Bears, Patriots. And Seattle was not a layup at home this season. They were not automatic as in years past. The schedule, the offensive coordinator leaving, I think as of now, they will miss the playoffs next season. Okay, that's a take. Tomorrow's headlines today. How about the Super Bowl losers, the Patriots next season? Well, you know I'm down on Drake, May, and company given that postseason run where they got lucky and faced bad. Backup quarterback there at the end. the headline for the new england patriots next season will be easy drake oven pats cook up another playoff appearance oh i've got him in the wild card for now i do want to see what happens in free agency i do think they'll do enough to get into the wild card listen may will regress a little bit he ain't gonna complete 72 of his passes be number one in epa runner-up mvp that's not happening again i think we would agree on that right but the continuity remains mcdaniels Vrabel, I like that. I think, as you said, they've got to do some upgrades. Colin, I look at this road schedule for the Patriots. And again, schedules, we'll see what happens around the league. At Chicago, at the Chargers, at Seattle, at Jacksonville. That's four teams that made the playoffs. They're not going to face six rookie quarterbacks like they did last year. Six last season. They went 6-0. Rookie quarterbacks, as of now, they will face, it looks like Mendoza is going to be the only rookie, could be a rookie with the Jets. They may get lucky, and Quinn Ewers is an opponent. So I think, you know, they'll make the playoffs, but barely as of now. Tomorrow's headlines today, Super Bowl 61. What do you see? Again, we're 11 months out, and I got a little creative with this one. The headline for Super Bowl 61 will be the city of end zones, L.A. and L.A. stuck in Super Bowl traffic. Interesting. Yes, I'm going Rams-Chargers, Colin. I think the Rams are the best team in the league heading into the offseason. And I think the Chargers had the biggest upgrade adding McDaniel as their OC. You just heard Daniel Jeremiah. All they need is interior linemen. Like, that's the big need. Obviously, Minter going, getting a head job and leaving is a big loss. But they get the best. They're great tackles back on both sides. I like the skill position, guys. I love McDaniel. I think the Chargers are like a 12-win team next year. I don't think it's crazy. Rams, Chargers. We had a Mets-Yankees subway series. I don't think it's crazy. Tomorrow's headlines today. What will be the headline for the NBA All-Star Game? Can't wait for this one. Yeah, I know you're fired up. I can tell. Very locked in on this one. It's tough because there's like the world. There's the old guys, the young guys. Everybody's confused. They just named De'Aaron Fox a substitute. They're like, which team is he on? We'll give it a shot. The headline for the NBA All-Star Game will be shooting stars. globe gets trotted by youth i cannot believe they put belichick and his girlfriend there that's just that's brutal but nicely done i'm going with the young guys colin i do believe as kevin garnett or sorry kevin durant articulated earlier the euros they don't want to play no defense personally i don't think luke is going to play we know janice will not play like what effort is yokich going to give so i'm discounting the euros i actually think the young team anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Johnson. What did we see last year in the playoffs, Colin? The young teams with young players, they got after it. They defended full court. They care. I think they take down the old guys, the old heads, as Kevin Durant called them. And I like the young guys to win the All-Star Game. Finally, tomorrow's headlines today. Give me an All-Star Game MVP, J-Mac. So I went a little macro here just because I have a fun take on this. The headline for the MVP of the NBA All-Star Game will be your favorite aunt. Edwards leaps right over Unk. Anthony Edwards is my pick for All-Star Game MVP. And Colin, it's because there's something going on in Minnesota. I don't know how closely you've paid attention to what's happening, but they tried to trade everybody for Giannis a couple weeks ago. And everybody knows it. And there's some dogging going on in Minnesota. Like, they're not as locked in. Some of these guys are like, oh, you were trying to trade me? It didn't happen? Am I going to get shipped? in the offseason to get Giannis, and they're not putting forth the effort. Rudy Gobert's popping off. It's ugly. So my guess is Anthony Edwards senses that, and as a leader, he goes into All-Star Weekend to make a statement. I can carry our guys. Come on, folks. Get on my back. We can do this. And listen, Anthony Edwards is a great player. You had him as the face of the league, I think, two years ago. And I think he has a monster All-Star Weekend. Yeah. There's some, I'll tell you, this past draft, you know, we say this. remarkable. This past draft and next year's draft may be better at the top. I don't know if there's a Cooper flag in it, but if Darren Peterson... He's perfect for the NBA. He occasionally shows up and plays. How long have you been sitting on that joke? Right into the NBA. People make so much of that kid at Kansas like cramps and other people play through cramps. It's not ideal. It's not perfect. but this is not the NFL. You can't go to the seventh round and find Brock Purdy. You're out of players usually by about the 14th or 15th pick. You're going to draft a kid that talented. He's going to get picked. My guess, Boozer is really good as well. Peterson, my guess, goes one or two. I would agree. We freaked out when Christian McCaffrey skipped a Sun Bowl. When you're transcendent talent, I don't care what it is, Just take them. Figure it out later. All right. See you tomorrow. It's the Hurt. Hey, everyone.
