Summary

O'Connor & Company discusses immigration enforcement failures in Fairfax County with former ICE acting director Jonathan Fahey, covering murder suspects who were illegal aliens and should have been deported. The episode also covers Eric Swalwell's resignation from Congress following pressure from Nancy Pelosi, Senator Ruben Gallego's defensive response to allegations, and includes commentary on The View's religious commentary and a baby elephant debut at the National Zoo.

Insights
  • Democratic sanctuary policies prioritize protecting illegal aliens over public safety, with 75% of recent Fairfax County murder suspects being deportable aliens who had prior law enforcement contact
  • Nancy Pelosi's claim of ignorance about Swalwell's misconduct contradicts her position as House Speaker with access to intelligence networks, suggesting selective enforcement based on political damage control
  • Media outlets like ABC News' The View lack credibility on policy matters despite being classified as news programming rather than entertainment, creating a credibility gap for Disney
  • Swalwell's forced resignation mirrors Biden's exit from the 2024 race—both orchestrated by Democratic leadership when political liability exceeded utility, not due to legal or ethical concerns
  • Senator Gallego's nervous demeanor and shifting timeline about when he learned of Swalwell rumors suggests either deception or poor judgment, undermining his presidential ambitions

And that's that's that's Cassie Smidley. I'm Larry O'Connor and our guests now former acting director of ice former federal prosecutor, former assistant Commonwealth Attorney and Fairfax and, well, should have been your current. Commonwealth Attorney and Fairfax, but instead is George Soros in his bank account had something to say about Steve Discano. Jonathan Faye. He joins us now, Jonathan. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me. Listen, I know you love us so much. But now, the latest statistics show that 75% of the murder suspects in Fairfax County so far this year are all criminal illegal aliens who faced deportation should have been handed over with cooperation with ICE so that they could be deported and those murder victims would still be alive today. It's that simple. Is any of this getting through to Steve Discano and his team there or are they just zealots that just are determined to keep these illegal immigrants here wreaking havoc on the community? Their highest priority and I think for the Democratic Party as a whole is keeping illegal aliens in the country. I think nothing is even a close second and it's so shameful because you talk about the three out of the four but I think at least two of those three had been locked up by law enforcement beforehand so that means they had the opportunity. They weren't just sneaking around in the shadows as the Democrats like to say. They were put out in law enforcement arrest and locked them up and then turned them back over to the streets rather than to ICE so people should be alive. The other thing that's really important if you remember and I know you covered it, the very end of last year they let Steve Discano's office drop charges against an MS-13 member who also had a lengthy criminal record and instead of turning him over to ICE they turned him back in the streets and I think within one or two days later he had committed another murder in rest in Virginia and he's in jail for that now so we're really looking at probably four out of the last five. There might have been another murder in Fairfax maybe in December but my guess is that either four out of the last five or four out of the last six have been illegal aliens and they should have all been prevented and if you think if they were going to change they do it now. This would be like oh we should take a second look and you never even hear like any sort of reflection like hey maybe we should alter our policies maybe we should do this or do that. They are just head on and it's going to be very interesting watching him try to answer these questions you know next month in front of the in front of Congress. Yes because if the headlines weren't enough to get them to change their mind you'd think the polling would be enough Abigail Spanberger suffering horrific polling losses in large part because of making Virginia essentially a sanctuary state and then when Descano is in front of Congress hopefully the members of Congress will utilize that time to put that in the spotlight because we know this is something that Democrats they're not going to run on but they're going to run candidates who support these exact policies. Yeah that's a great point they won't they don't advertise it or when they talk about their policies on like the sanctuary city type of things they portray it as hey we're just protecting preschoolers from getting deported or somebody running up in a cancer ward to deport people and they make it seem like that's what they're doing when in fact all these sanctuary city policies are doing is protecting criminals in jail because ICE never was arresting people in schools never was going to hospitals and they just but they try to you know lie I guess is a lack of a better word. That's the word we're looking for yeah. Yeah exactly. Yeah there's really no other way to say that. The other light we hear about it if I could the other light we hear we often hear this from the governor Abigail Spanberger who says well listen enforcing immigration laws is not the job of local law enforcement it's not the job of our local prosecutors they're not paid to enforce federal law like immigration policies that doesn't quite square with me something you know robbing a bank is a federal crime but something tells me that if you're running after robbing a bank and you run past a local Fairfax County police officer that cops gonna arrest you for for breaking that federal law. You're exactly right and if you talk to any local police officers they want to cooperate with ICE because they know these people that ICE is trying to arrest are people that are committing crimes in the community whether it's Fairfax or somewhere else so the reality if you ask the people on the ground that are actually enforcing law the law enforcement officers they know how important it is and actually makes their job easier because if you get people you know kicked out of the country after they commit a crime rather than have them commit another crime and another crime and another crime it's it's a lot better for police is a lot better from the community so yeah it's just a big lie that she she's putting out there again because you know their their policy is illegal immigration mass immigration at all costs and and also the the one one last point typically if you need more resources you say I want more resources like if they said will ICE float us some money because we can't afford this or will ICE give us a person in our jail yeah we could do this they they never say that so which is exactly I assure you that if they came forward and said we would like to robustly enforce immigration law in cooperation with our brothers and sisters at a federal level at ICE but we need some resources I think DHS might find some money to work in cooperation it's all a lie Jonathan Fahey is our guest former acting director of ICE and also former federal prosecutor you mentioned this testimony Steve Discano has been called before the Judiciary Committee next month it's four weeks from now I misspoke earlier in the program if you were advising Chairman Jim Jordan or any of the Republicans there what Brandon Guilford that matter what what do you think the focus should be what kind of questions should be asked what needs to be revealed by Mr. Discano and and second follow-up question Mr. Fahey what needs to be the federal response is there a role for the feds to come in here and do something to force this issue in Fairfax County yeah a couple things I think one of the things that that Discano is doing that's so bad even beyond the typical sanctuary thing and he had this on his website and now he's taking it off but they basically have a policy where they give less severe plea agreements to illegal aliens and American citizens because he treats being deported as an extra consequence so if you're an American citizen versus an illegal alien and you're you're arrested in Fairfax the common territory will be tougher on the American citizen which you know not really legal seems unconstitutional seems like it's turning the constitution on its head actually right and he took it off apparently off of his website and it was up there until recently so that's an interesting thing and the second thing the federal response the thing that they could do which I'm surprised they haven't done more of this is this is really a climb of alien harboring they are doing this to keep illegal aliens in the country so what they can do is open a grand jury investigation into the jail into the Commonwealth and see what they are doing to prevent ICE from arresting people because it's not you know we're going to find out it's not just the simple not turning people over they're probably active steps taking on and that will also give the ability for people to testify within the sheriff's office about what they're being trained on about what's going on also to get rosters of who's in the jail at all times so they could then run people and find out who's in jail when they're getting out all of those types of things to make it easier to pick people up and I'd love to see ICE just throw a big trailer right outside of the Fairfax jail there's like an entrance that goes out to a street and just have a big ICE trailer there and you know everyone that walks out of there identify who they are and if they're illegal you know start processing them that actually would be amazing and just to this permanent residence right there that's a great idea um I think Stephen Miller if not his office certainly Stephen Miller himself listens to this program on a regular basis I think you may have just planted a seed there Jonathan Fahey thanks for joining us always appreciate hearing from you thank you uh follow Jonathan because he's uh just all I do when I hear him is what could have been had he defeated Steve Discano in that primary had had had Republicans back Jonathan Fahey with the kind of money that Steve Discano gets from George Soros John for Fairfax that's John without an H J-O-N for Fairfax follow him on social media 815 Hey football fans it's Cam Hayward from the Pittsburgh Steelers I still remember what draft night felt like for me of football family fun in the moment draft dreams come true register for free entry at NFL.com slash draft accidents maybe I'll see you there hey there I'm Paula Pan I help people make the smartest money decisions possible Joe you know what's been great about being a saver for money the bank and that money over the past couple of years has made a pretty good yield pre-pandemic money was making zero now it's actually making something but that's starting to go down down down I love how we can play the fact that inflation has been really high as a positive but if you're a saver you know what that means to change silver lining Joe silver lining afford anything follow and listen on your favorite platform I see the look on Cassie Smedley's face the smile that is emerging can only mean one thing we're about to hear really stupid stuff from the ladies on the view how excited are you is that fun yes I don't know about you you know Cassie I'd like to reveal sometimes what we talk about when the microphone is not on and Cassie and I share a Catholic faith and we oftentimes when we're going through Lent we share sort of our prayer journey with the hollow app things like that because we're both Catholic and and of course you know I'm married to a Baptist married at the southern Baptist and she's getting her her M. Div her masters in divinity right now which is pretty fun so in fact we just engaged in a in a theological discussion about some of the differences between the Catholic practice of Christianity versus the what the Protestants do so and it's good you know to have these really lively and important conversations oftentimes you want to go to a source you want to go to sort of an authority to sort of help you figure out what's what right sure yes and I will say Larry you are very good you you are on your game because of Meredith she keeps you on your toes oh yeah and I learn a lot from you as I would say I'm Catholic but I need I need to brush up on things so you're good authority on this the Catholic faith is so rich and has so many years of you know various that that we only really know why we believe what we believe or do what we do when we're challenged on it and then we're like oh I don't know actually let me look into that so that's said when you're looking for an authority if you're looking for expertise if you're looking for somebody to sort of cut through all of the noise and really get down to the basics about our Christian faith I don't know about you but I always like to turn to Joy Bayhar yesterday there was a conversation on the view having to do with the recent war of words between the president and the pope the pope acting kind of in here's more more worldly position as a world leader versus a faith leader in my opinion and of course the president's use of a meme that in many people's eyes depicted him as a messiah like figure so here's Joy Bayhar on Jesus but Jesus himself did not run around saying I'm the messiah I'm the messiah is it not she it's been a while since her last thing the pope's got him he's got got she just said I knew Jesus Jesus what's not narcissistic like this guy and by the way we are the messiah it's not narcissism just say it yes it is when you are the messiah I'm going to move this along because this is like it's too much for me that's that let me translate whoopee I need to change the subject because Joy looks like a moron and I got to write at her fear it's here so I got to hand it to Alyssa Faragriffin Alyssa Farah is not my favorite person on that panel she's supposed to be the conservative voice but she did say something pretty sad when Joy Bayhar says you know it's it's very narcissistic to say you're the messiah and Alyssa says not if you are the messiah and then Joy said but he didn't say that yeah like literally that's what he said yeah Jesus Jesus you know all that all that talk about being the son of man and alluding to the Daniel prophecy and you know talking about his father being God and being before Abraham I am yeah I think I think maybe he did again don't turn to the view as experts on anything and certainly not on your religion noted you know it's like Joy Bayhar is hanging out with James Talerico I think they must go to the same Bible study yeah because they're a little off listen to be fair I don't think Jesus actually said well first of all the only thing that we know Jesus said for certain is what was written in scripture okay and so he said a lot of things as John pointed out at the end of the gospel according to John you couldn't fill all of the books on the planet to cover all the things that Jesus said and did but I do know that he said I am the way the truth in the life and no man cometh unto the Father but by me that sounds pretty messiah like to be for example one example right just one example oh well what are you gonna be what are you gonna do Joy Bayhar you listen you can never go wrong if you're just looking for some entertaining info talk about news of the day and you go to the women on the view here's the problem and I'll keep reminding everybody that's an ABC news program not daytime television it's not in the same department as game shows and you know Kellyanne Rippa and and soap operas no no no those women that you just heard they're the colleagues in the same department with George Stephanopoulos and David Muir that's ABC news ladies and gentlemen good point god you've got a problem there Disney you might want to look into it it is 823 now on 105.9 FM and streaming worldwide on the WMAL app O'Connor and company well hello how are you 837 thanks for tuning into O'Connor and company 30 minutes from now Chris Plant is going to take over and take over he does he comes in usually dressed like a crusader of sorts with a armor and a helmet broadsword it's quite gothic rather um I don't know dungeons and dragons like maybe lord of the rings you get the picture okay honestly more money python and the holy grail but you understand Chris Plant takes over conquers in just 30 minutes in the meantime it's Larry O'Connor alongside Cassie Smedley Cassie it's always a good morning to have you here let's turn to the Eric Swalwell story the Swalwell announced yesterday that he would resign his position as a member of congress out of California although he hasn't officially done it he just said that he would resign right and it's interesting if you look at the downfall of mr. Swalwell it looks eerily similar to what happened with Joe Biden when he was forced off of the ticket in 2024 and there's one woman that seems to be at the center of all of this take a listen to cut 11 Eric Swalwell resigned today from the congress he withdrew from the gubernatorial race in California did you tell him to resign oh I think that was his decision I think it's a smart decision right to do yes the right thing to do yes yeah okay couple things here that's literally exactly what she said about Joe Biden and and when asked you heard the question did you tell him to resign and his her answer that was his decision okay that wasn't the question of course it was his decision but did you tell him to do it eerily similar to what she says contend whenever asked about Joe Biden she says well that was Joe Biden's decision even though another worst kept secret in Washington everyone knew Pelosi orchestrated the whole moment I mean that's right that's right don't mess with Nancy Pelosi and let's just be clear here I said this yesterday the only reason why Eric Swalwell was forced to resign had nothing to do with his conduct had nothing to do with behavior it had nothing to do with the law it had nothing to do with protecting women it had nothing to do with any of that what it had to do with is that the powers to be including Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats realized that the longer he stayed on the more damage he did to other Democrats that's the only reason they cut somebody because there's a congresswoman in Florida who has been convicted of multiple felonies over campaign finance irregularizations she's still there she hasn't been forced on because that's not harming other Democrats in their races she's still there wearing the jewelry she purchased with the money she embezzled essentially right there in life but you know but it must be pointed out don't forget when they thought it was politically expedient for them they endorsed him they campaigned with him and they all showed up every day to work with him in congress knowing this was in his closet and every single one of them including Nancy Pelosi and Mark Warner and Tim Kaine and Elizabeth Ward and everyone else who's ran to a camera yesterday saying Eric Swalwell did the right thing he needed to resign he had to get out not one of them a day before yesterday was calling on him to resign when asked when Mark Warner was asked specifically on CNN Sunday should he resign his seat from congress Mark Warner punted he dodged the question so now they're all wanting to get credit by saying that's right he should go now that Eric Swalwell has gone but not one of them actually extended themselves and said he should go uh Pelosi also said this i'm constantly told that Nancy Pelosi is the smartest politician you'll ever see there's no one better than her and that may be true but if it is true then explain this to me cut 12 some of some republicans and others are saying that democrats turned kind of a blind eye that they knew what he was up no that's not true that is absolutely positive and it's true that they may say that but it is absolutely not true you had no idea none whatsoever none whatsoever Cassie you're not you're not the former speaker of the house you're not the majority or minority leader in the house you don't you don't have the all guest record that Nancy Pelosi does you don't work intimately side by side in offices right down the hall from Eric Swalwell but if you were asked when this story came up last week and i believe you were had you heard anything about this what would your answer have been worst kept secret in washington and by the way it wasn't just tear say you saw it in his behavior out and about at receptions um i know someone who told me not in a it was consensual let's just say yeah but that he was stepping out on his marriage with her so not a good guy an unsavory character at the very least it's weird that they are blindly covering for him so if Nancy Pelosi had it is absolutely not true none of us knew anything about it so are we to just take from that that they're stupid or they're just not as plugged in as cassie smidley and larry o'connor right as Nancy just does she just go and sit and drink her wine in her office by herself at night so that she doesn't la la la la i don't hear it i don't see it i don't know it she also knows nothing about insider trading but let's do it by the way uh speaking of stepping out on the town and being pretty blatant and out in the open about your behaviors oftentimes eric swalwell's wingman on those endeavors was one senator ruben gallego of arizona and there were immediately a lot of rumors about him flying around yesterday that video of eric swalwell making out with a young woman who we're told now is a a prostitute there's a man sitting on the bed right next to them you can only see him in sort of like a one quarter profile i'm i i can't tell you that it's ruben gallego but it looks like a guy who looks a lot like ruben gallego and so senator gallego was surrounded by reporters yesterday because i think i think he decided to tell his console well that said i'm going to be i'm going to be forceful i'm going to stand up on my own two feet and i'm going to show everybody that i'm not afraid of these allegations so i'm going to answer all these questions cassie you're a comms expert uh let's listen to what he had to say and and we have the benefit of seeing the visual which is an absolute nervous wreck sweat act let's listen to what he had to say and then i want your expert opinion on how we handled this go ahead cut 13 it was very it was flirty that was flirty and that was about what year i mean that was we've we've heard that we've heard that throughout but then you just said you just thank you so much i want to clarify because in the beginning i know i know we'll go back to you in the beginning you said when you first heard these rumors a few weeks ago that's when you called them then you said you heard these rumors for years so which one is it senator so i heard rumors of him being flirty and that wasn't an issue enough for you to not trust him to watch your kids or be close with him because you know you hear this and then when you're close to somebody and you you know you know his wife you see this you see that relationship you know that like it maybe just isn't true i asked him about it a few weeks ago when it when it started coming up online yeah a little bit more here listen cut 14 i've called you his best friend you have never asked him about any of the rumors that have been swirling around democratic politics of his inappropriate behavior i did um look we knew each other differently for everyone else my family and his family were as close as against our kids were in baseball camp together you know we we had dinner together as a family it it was entirely different i think what people understand but when there was rumors going around a couple weeks ago not of the the folks in whatever in september school chronicle i did ask him and he lied to me he knew that i just came off a very very hard campaign for two years when he lied about me and my family for two years he manipulated me to have the same sentiment that i was having back in the day and use as an opportunity to move me to to to defend okay okay okay by the way he he he goes on to say he lived a double life which is obvious but um the question is was it a secret double life uh there's your senator from arizona who says he wants to be president who says that he was easily manipulated by eric swalwell i i don't know if that's really necessarily a great character endorsement of eric ruben gaia goes judgment uh he's either stupid and easily deceived or he's just outright lying cassie but either way did that do damage control for the good democrat from arizona oh my gosh and it was and for those who can't see it this this guy's he's shifting on his feet he's sweating at his brow this is like when i asked my toddler did you hit your sister no no no no no no she ran into me no no i mean there's a moment she ran into me but i didn't hit her i mean that's what it looked like and you're right that he feels so because you know gaiego does this he'll go out and take on the camera go confront someone he's really pompous i've got nothing to fear right so he thought he could handle it by the way glad the reporters are finally asking some questions about all of this yeah thank you very much well it is true sometimes when reporters sense blood in the water they actually do go on the frenzy not unlike the megalodon the official state shark the countdown is on for the 2026 nfl draft presented by bud light catch all seven know that we have a lot more eric swalwell news but i also happen to know that chris plant is coming up and something tells me that our brother christopher will be covering eric swalwell extensively in the next three hours so let's have another dose of critter news shall we you know uh the the smisonian national zoo has a big announcement here and usually it's always about a freaking panda which is like just so over the pandas right unless it's the red panda it's a it's a it's a siap from beijing everybody knows that they're you know communist spies those pandas are not even real they're they're illegal immigrants in a bear costume they roll around anyway uh here's another beautiful animal that's about to make its debut april 22 at the national zoo and it's got a bit of a republican feel to it it's a baby elephant it's a baby elephant and it's so cute that for some reason the baby elephant also has a chinese name could we not what i'm crying out loud lin lin mai is the uh elephant's name could we not name but who would be a good baby elephant like marco rubio could i name it marco rubio oh little baby marco little marco little marco is lin mai a girl name i don't know we gotta find that out but i'm with you as you were knocking on the panda yes she she is making her public debut melania could be melania melania little melania see but yes as you were knocking on the pandas i was like oh get ready for this but yeah the elephant's there and you can see it soon yep uh the baby by the way weighs 308 pounds whoa early days out of viewing uh well the baby was born in early february requiring 24 hour care for her emotional and physical development well join the club lin mai i can use that myself uh the zoo says that our team is working very very very hard that's three varies long hours to make sure she has everything she needs to thrive it's one of the most exhausting things that i've ever had to do well you know what that's what parenthood is about robby clark elephant manager um i'm kidding she's very cute baby elephant i have a theory about baby uh animals uh the baby animals of a little animal like little baby bunny rabbits super duper cute um and then the baby versions of a giant animal like an elephant super duper cute even though i mean everything about this elephant is huge 308 pounds but it's an elephant it's a miniature elephant so it's super duper cute and they have super cute trunks don't they they really do and you're right i think that way about giraffes they're still tall and gangly but super duper cute when they're being super duper cute i know no yeah we just we love babies we're pro life over here we love absolutely and they have cute trunks everything about them is cute just watch jungle book it's a 53 hey there i'm
