Summary

Kinda Funny Games Daily covers Crimson Desert's 2 million day-one sales despite mixed reviews, Nintendo Switch 2's removable battery EU model, Netflix's Assassin's Creed live-action series cast announcement, and Resident Evil Requiem topping February 2026 US sales charts. The hosts discuss how strong marketing can drive initial sales regardless of critical reception, and debate the long-term sales trajectory of Crimson Desert.

Insights
  • Strong pre-launch marketing and hype can drive massive day-one sales (2M units) independent of critical reception, but sustained sales require positive word-of-mouth and community sentiment
  • Mixed critical reception creates a ceiling on viral growth potential—the Reddit community actively discussing negative aspects (blurry visuals, clunky controls) dampens the snowball effect needed for 10M+ sales
  • Right-to-repair legislation (EU) is forcing hardware manufacturers to redesign products with consumer-friendly features, establishing a regulatory precedent that may spread globally
  • Generative AI discourse in gaming is becoming polarized and nuanced—developers conflate beneficial AI tools (upscaling, DLSS) with problematic generative AI, making productive conversation difficult
  • Cross-platform content collaboration (Dropout/Kinda Funny) requires strategic relationship-building through multiple touchpoints rather than direct outreach
Trends

How are you doing? I'm doing well and I'm happy to be on this show with you I feel like you weren't here for some of this week I'm here for both for travel and for sickness It's nice to have you back in the office It's nice to be sitting here with you And we got a game cast after this, it's going to be a banger Are you on the thing after that? The party mode, no Oh, okay, I was about to be excited to do a full day with you No, no, no, I would not be caught dead with you that long You know what, that's fair, I understand that Can I put you on to somebody? Yes Do you know who Lisa Gilroy is? No I was watching Dropout, so Lisa Gilroy, she does a lot of improv comedy She's a very funny person I was watching an episode of Dropout last night Do you know their show, Make Some Noise? No Think of it as essentially the modern, whose line is it anyway Love it, okay She was on an episode last night And when I tell you, I hit a moment where I was like Oh, she's just Greg Miller Her humor, the way that she's able to embody a character Think of you when you go full in on like I'm just going to be batshit, crazy wacky Say the fucking weirdest shit that comes to my mind right now She's that person, and she's able to be that person so consistently And when she entered a character last night I was like, this is a character that Greg Miller would do But she's like a real actress, her first thing here on Instagram She was on Scrubs this week I feel like she's, I think she's blowing up right now I know she's been in the game for a minute But I think she's been having a moment for like, I'll say the last year or so Alright, I'm following, I'm in there, thank you very much, you know, I appreciate that And I need you like, we need to build a connection Because I want to see her on whatever kind of funny sketch fest thing I feel like you should have told me this like, two months ago She's blowing up right, she's got a deadline article about her I mean, I did tell Nick, because Nick is like, oh, he's the comedy guy Just whoosh black hole, you throw it in there, nothing's gonna happen And then Nick didn't know who Lisa Gilroy is And I was like, I thought you told me about Lisa Gilroy, how do you not know who this person is But I feel like if we can like, make that connection happen Kind of funny sketch fest 2027, she'd be the perfect guest That's like, amen high, you know what I mean? Here she is with Sonic the Hedgehog, she knows everybody I mean, she knows ball Okay, cool, I mean Greg, do me and you know ball About video games we do About video games, and about Crimson Desert Oh, we know ball about that game We're gonna start off the show talking about with story number one But before we get there, remember, if you're watching live You can be a part of the show by super chatting in Over on YouTube.com, slash, kind of funny games Of course, you couldn't do this without our producers Over on Patreon.com, slash, kind of funny So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm, Twining For now, let's begin with what is, and forever will be, their Oprah Report It's time for some news We have five stories today Uh, Baker's Dozer Starting with our number one She also has really great chemistry with Ben Schwartz Speaking of Sonic That's Sonic, yes I don't know his name, he's enough so when I saw the photo So literally he said, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah He was on a podcast, I'll see if I can find the episode I might send that to you, but he was also on the Make Some Noise episode I was talking about from last night I just feel like at this point when you're saying stuff like this It's like, yo, Greg, have you met Dwayne the Rock Jaws? You should do stuff with that I feel like you're just like, you keep, in our world though But you're connected to Dropout more than anybody, right? Yes, you should be the one Andy didn't do shit Yeah, we'll see, we'll see Episode's still coming out someday Well, I don't mean like that You put it in so long ago I mean, I know that you were the Dropout fan I feel like Andy got approached and was like, okay, cool I'm glad you're saying it, because I didn't want to say it You know what I mean? I was like for this shit Andy just got an email one day And when I saw my email, I was like, oh hell yeah I'm gonna drop out, I'm gonna tell you about it They're recognizing a fan They're saying me from the community that are elevating it And then a week later, Andy's like, oh yeah, I'm going to drop out too And I was like, oh, I thought it was special And then there, it was like me too, you know, I was like, everybody's yeah And I was like, who want to drop out of our ankle? Let's start off with story number one Crimson desert dev says it'll work to make improvements quickly As sales hit 2 million in just one day This comes from Wesley Yenpool at IGN Crimson desert has hit 2 million copies sold just a day after launch Although it has suffered a mixed response from critics and players Pearl Abyss has hotly anticipated open world action game launched across PC, PS5, and Xbox yesterday March 19th, and today the Korean company announced that 2 million copies have been sold worldwide In its announcement, Pearl Abyss said it was aware of feedback from players And would work to make improvements quickly Quote, we're incredibly humbled to share that Crimson desert has sold through 2 million copies worldwide Pearl Abyss's announcement read Quote, thank you so much to our fans, community, and everyone who has joined us in Pywell We will listen closely to the wide range of feedback shared by the community And work to make improvements quickly Doing our utmost to make the journey ahead even more enjoyable for our players As IGN has reported, Crimson desert launched big on Steam with nearly 250,000 concurrent players But it currently has a mixed user review rating Much of the criticism from players revolves around the controls Which some have called clunky and unnecessarily complicated There are some performance complaints too We said that Did we? I did, I was not a fan of the control I was talking about them being clunky That was like one of the things where I was like, there are so many controls But I found them kind of intuitive Oh really? But I think I internalized the red dead thing I talked about it in mind where I thought it was clunky and I had to write down the combos I had a piece of paper in front of me, I was like, alright, so if I want to do this, it's not It's, no, okay, I gotta hit L, B, and Y Okay, but if I want to do this, it's gotta be R, B, and this Or it's just Y, B together, I'm like, that's a lot For me it was the High School Musical song where they say stick to the stuff you know Where I'm like, if I'm in combat, I'm just tapping the combat button I was too, but I felt like some of the boss fights which I enjoyed, I needed to be getting a little bit more What if I learned how to throw somebody, I was like, I'm already doing it, that was very fun For example My favorite High School Musical song, get your head in the game Oh that's a really good one Did you watch both High School Musical? I've never seen one, I reviewed High School Musical Sing It for Disney's Sing It at IGN So there you go, I know all the songs from them I feel like it's a U and Ben joint Oh yeah? Yeah To close out the article, there are some performance complaints too For example, PS5 owners have come together to work out the cause of blurry visuals An issue that's also on the PC version Greg Yeah There's two million to prize you No, I really enjoyed the conversation in the pizza bet yesterday you and Roger had of ten million in a week I'm not, as everybody knows from my career, the numbers guy I'm actually really bad at it usually But I was listening to my car and you guys talked yesterday and it was very much Oh this thing's going to move, it doesn't matter what the metacritic was or what this is going to be The hype level for this, like they're going to move units And so two million out the gate, no I'm not surprised by that I will be interested to see how close they can get to the ten million that Roger was predicting right? Yeah I said no You said we're not going to hit ten million in a week I think that is a lofty goal And I think you want to be a little bit further because it is that I think If the buzz was incredibly positive off of this right, if we were talking about metacritic And more importantly the steam review right right now in steam DB they got it at 58.15% right Which is not a happy emoji, that's a yellow emoji He's got the flat face Yeah Ah, if it was that runaway like holy shit this, they did deliver then maybe you'd see those numbers start snowballing I feel now you get that I'm going to pump the brakes Where it's the two million were the ones who were bought in and all about it And last night I would I was Jen and I were having a wine date And I was looking at Reddit and just watching the Crimson Desert Reddit eat itself alive The fucking visuals are blurry, I can't control this What, look at this video of them moving and he doesn't move and then the other people like you're all haters It looks fine on me, I'm like oh my god, like Jesus, you know what I mean Like I think what's more interesting is this conversation and this statement from Pearl Abyss of They're looking at it all and they're going to make changes and yada da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da Oh fuck, I need to know more about that guy, right? Like, that's the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 thing, where I think that's a good one to bring up in relation because Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a game that I didn't vibe with, but that's not because the game wasn't good It's just because I didn't vibe with it, right? Yeah, I understand But like, I would say 10 out of 10 times, like, yo, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 from the 3 hours, 4 hours that I played seems like a fucking incredible game And that's because from the get-go, I get into those cutscenes and I'm like, damn, these characters seem really cool They seem like they have personality. There's a back and forth here that I'm invested in It starts off with a really interesting story premise The mechanics here seem deep and interesting in ways that I could see other people really getting into The thing with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is that I just don't think it has those things to keep us pulled in Even if they fix the thing... Crimson Desert Sorry, Crimson Desert, which one? Did I say Kingdom Come? The thing about Crimson Desert is that I just don't think it has those things to keep me and you going I agree 100% Like, again, like, you know, again, Ben climbed into the car today and the podcast I was listening to on the way home kicked back up and it was the one, the only story motors for Mr. Hawks because he was talking about the Starfield stuff And I was like, do you want me... Ben always just loves jumping into whatever podcast I'm listening to I'm like, sure And they kept talking about Starfield Starfield and he's like, is this the one you didn't like recently? I'm like, no, no, this is the one I like a lot recently. You're talking about Crimson Desert And again, he's like, well, why don't you like Crimson Desert? And I was like, well... And I went into it, I read them, I don't care about the character and the story didn't get me in yada, yada, yada That's my thing is like, for me to go back to it after six months, whatever amount of fixes I don't think it's me going back to Platinum it to run Roll Crats yet It's me going back to be like, what does it feel like now? Have that curiosity of like, man, Pearl of this seems like They're that committed to delivering on the feedback that their audience is giving and that's what I'm interested in is like What is that wide breath of player base giving right now? Do we see that mix go up to like a very positive? That's my thought on it is like, I wonder if this is going to be one of those stories on a smaller scale Because by no means is this broken. It sounds like, I don't know. Are we going to have a conversation in at the end of the year? Is it going to be those Crimson Desert diehards who are like, no, you don't understand everything they fixed And it's going to be that moment of, yeah, it's no longer mixed. It is mostly positive on the last six months of reviews and all that jazz Like are they committed on that level to it? And how many fixes do they need? Again, like I saw people last night that I will bring up in gamescasts on BS being like, this isn't even the same game we reviewed anymore Yeah, I have Mitchell Saltsman had one where he was like, oh, they put a fast travel here and I'm like, damn, that's crazy I would have loved to have fast travel there. Why is there a fast travel there? Yeah, also a few people and chat and shout it out and I had the thought to like, is Ben just a grown person? Like the fact that you're like, oh yeah, you like this one, right? Or you didn't like Starfield and you're like having this back and forth conversation with him is crazy to me for some reason. Yeah, no, I mean, my son is a full blown person at four. Yeah, you know, so it's October we five, but four is, I mean, again, It's what they talk about all the time. Like when you, how you treat a kid is how they'll talk to you. You know what I mean? So we don't baby talk banner, dial it down for him or whatever. Like he, here's these conversations. He knows how much I love video games. When he is done playing a game, like I'll be like, all right, so what did we think? Like what did you like? What didn't you like? Like we have, I try to drag that out of him in terms of more than like what's going on. Same thing like you have to ask pointed questions. Like, you know what I mean? Like how was your day at school? It was terrible. Like early on, one of the things I read and it worked was like, what's the best thing you do with your hands? Like, you know what I mean? What was your happiest moment? Like give them a specific thing. And also when they're super young, since motion is so tied up in what they do, what is that kind of thing? That's really cool. Yeah. But no, Ben's an amazing kid. I don't think I have one on here, but Jen has him interview me. I'll try to get it for you. Him interview me about groups in desert. While we're here, right? I talked about the two million. One, I'm talking about the 10 million that me and Roger talked about, right? Like the 10 million was just, it was a random number. I forget if that came from me or from Roger, but I'll tell you right now, Roger ain't getting that pizza. I'm getting that pizza. This thing is not going to sell another 10 million in six days. That's my thought. Yeah. 8 million. 8 million. I think that's the point is like to get, you need that, that snowball needs to be tumbling down the hill right now. And it's just, cause you gotta think about how many pre-orders are wrapped up in the two million and all that stuff. Right? Like this would have been the time to do all that. That said, two million for this game is also insane. Sure. I think that's such a phenomenal success for day one. Yeah. You know, like shout out to them for that. And like, I'm curious on when we are further out looking back at Crimson Desert and we're talking about Crimson Desert's success or performance or whatever it be, right? What is going to be the story behind it? Cause for me so far, I think this game did something in marketing that like other people need to look at. And I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing or whatever, but like the fact that there is so much hype drummed up for this thing. And before even reviews hit, people are already sold of like, I'm buying this thing no matter what it can be. I'm, I'm buying this thing thinking it's going to be a 90 something on Metacritic, but even if it's a 78, I'm still buying it. Right? We're still hitting those two million sales. I think there's something to be looked at there. For sure. Yeah. I think it's going to be a fascinating and wonderful watch and see what they do with it and how they do with it. Let's bring in some super chats. Of course, you can write in topics. Let's talk about just like Diaz Men, no, Diaz Fernan 13 who writes in, it says, the one thing I find funny about Crimson Desert is that there's currently no support for Intel Arc cards. Greg, do you have anything to say about PC gaming? No, I mean, we all know it. This is the problem with PC gaming. And I'm talking to somebody who reviewed Crimson Desert on his amazing razor blade 16 in there. All right. The razor six blade 16 from razor, not like a razor blade. Like I love that damn computer, but I go into the settings. I even Starfield yesterday, I sat back down, I was playing it there, some stuff and I went in and I'm like, okay, cool. And I'm like, Oh, turn it up to ultra. And then I went down and it was like, do you want this? And I was like, okay, Nvidia. I know that I have an Nvidia thing. Do that. Okay. Thank you very much. And walked out. I don't have it. I don't know. You got to get in there. You got to experiment. You got to think. Now, of course Crimson Desert running like trash apparently on PlayStation fives in Xboxes. So I don't know. And apparently they're working on the blurryness as you said, it's back and forth. You know what I mean? I can do you. I can keep temperature checking subreddit to see what it is. We got one from all Vero CN who says hashtag Roger was right. Money, money, money, 30% off. And that's what I will say. Roger, I think it was spot on with the, here comes the money segment. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The game's still going to sell. 100%. People are still going to buy the thing. Real quick, from one minute ago on the Crimson Desert subreddit, lumpy economics posts. Can anyone post a clip where the game doesn't look like dog shit? I feel like every pre-lease footage of this was a lie. So it's not going well over there still in terms of finding good console footage. Here's a fun one from Picto three. Tomorrow is National Down syndrome awareness day. My youngest was born with Down syndrome. He is four now and Camden just always happy. Thanks for always being inclusive and making all feel welcome. That's awesome. Picto. That's really, really cool. Yeah, I didn't know that. Yeah. National Down syndrome days tomorrow. Excellent. Yeah. Or is it international? National. National. Okay. Now speaking of four year olds, Kevin, I sent over this. Can we hear some of this? Just the audio from Ben talking to me. This might be the clip that Andy played last night where I'm talking about my underwear, but we'll see. Your underwear. Yeah, it'll make sense if we get there. Okay. Do you have it ready, Kev? While he's working on that. Here's one. Oh, there it is. Goblin coffee. Goblin coffee? No, no, no. I mean, I'm Goblin coffee right there. But you got to go there and you got to go talk to their leader and you fight their leader. Walking to the camp. What are we doing? Yeah, this is the underwear clip. Jen doesn't have, I guess, the full interview. He was asking me about the Goblin camp that you go to to get that really cool sword. You get the really cool sword. Yeah, I got the really cool sword. Yeah, exactly. His name is like Horn something, right? Yeah. He had his name. Horn swog a lot. Exactly. Yeah. Horn splitter. Horn splitter. That's right. You nailed it. Pover. Called me leg splitter. Oh God. I'm so sorry about Crimson Desert. I never heard of it until this week. Don't understand the hype. Is it the uncharted three of open world games? Greg, do you want to give the story of Crimson Desert type to pover who hasn't heard about it since until now? Sure. I mean, this game debuted a long time ago and the trailer was one of those ridiculous things where every scene in the trailer started getting more and more crazy to the point that he was flying. We're like, so it's Witcher and it's Zelda and it's this and it's that. And it felt like a vaporware for a long, long time. Then it started showing up at places you play. You're like, I don't know. It could be good. It seems complicated. I don't know what's going on. And then they started doubling down of like, no, here we're going to put out gameplay deep dives. You're going to do this whole thing. They had a preview. People liked it a lot. It seemed like they were delivering on it. People were wrapped up in their heads that it's going to be game of the year that this is going to be in some claim it is. And then they released it and it is a gigantic sprawling open world that bless and I don't feel has a story backbone to drag you through and make you want to do it. I think the combat is clunky, but not difficult. Well, it is difficult in the way it should be, but like it's one of those. This is the classic game that the people who love it are, and I'm not saying they're wrong, are saying if you want to love this game, you have to lose yourself to it. You have to throw yourself in. You have to learn it. You have to do this. There's the, you know, go get all your stamina rather than this blah, blah, blah, blah, explore the map. They're not wrong necessarily because I was their opinion, but for me in particular, I did wander the map and do the things and I just didn't find any of it compelling. As I said, I think it's a jack of all trades master of none on what it's doing. Dolphin corn rice and it says hope. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. KF BG can sell a right. And it says, bless. When will we see a dropout slash KF crossover on kind of beauty slash I'm actually well, me and Andy are going to be on I'm actually our episode is coming up. Some time during the season already recorded. So look forward to that. And we already did a, we had iffy on game showdown for a live packs East episode. I want to say like literally two years ago to the date. And so look up season one ish around that of game showdown and you'll find the episode with if you on it featuring, I think Jared Petty as well in Jeff Grubb as well. And so you already got your wish. It's out there. Robert writes in, it says, I'm excited to share that I pulled the trigger and bought a switch to for Pokemon, Pocopia. I'm looking forward to diving into the Nintendo ecosystem. Congratulations on that. And then we'll do one more for now from our sleeping giant who writes in, it says, please let me pay you money and buy that fiesta spurs kind of funny shirt. V a spur V is it V a spurs of Ross for his raw. We'll just say V a spurs. V a spurs. Welcome back to the playoffs. Is that the one I'm wearing? Yeah. I just like the shirt. I don't know. Any, any, this is from our basketball game, right? And then Andy made it inspired by the spurs. So yeah, you should have been a fan back then. We're too small of a company to have all these shirts up all the time. All right. I understand. Here's what you need to understand. There is gotta be a very small margin on being a kind of funny resell shop. So right now what you should do is go to kind of funny.com slash store, buy everything in every size and then just put it aside so that hopefully in three years a new fan shows up and goes, man, where can I get that pokeball sweatshirt? You're like, well, we don't sell it anymore, but you can be like, I, I, I am selling it for a little bit of profit. There you go. Smart. Makes money. Speaking of money. Nintendo makes a lot of money. Story number two, Nintendo switched you for some reason. I thought we're going into switch sales and I'm like, that's not the story. Story number two, Nintendo switch to with removable battery is in production or report reveals, but only for Europe. This is Tom Phillips at IGN. Nintendo is developing an updated switch to model with a removable battery according to a new report. The revised switch to console will also come with fresh versions of its joy con two controllers, which allows users to remove and replace each of their lithium ion batteries. According to Japanese newspaper, Nikkei, this new Nintendo switch to model will debut first in Europe in accordance with the European Union. Right to repair. It is. Why are they doing this? There it is. That requires electronics allow for easy battery replacement. The regulation was originally introduced by the EU back in 2023, though companies have had until February, 2027 to prepare for the changes. The idea behind it is to give consumers the ability to keep their devices for going longer with the ability to replace old or degraded batteries rather than having to fork out for an all new product or premium repair. As Nikkei notes, Nintendo is simply the latest company to align its products with legislation after PlayStation updated its dual sense PS5 controllers last year to allow easier access to their batteries while Apple has modified the design of its newer iPhones to make battery replacement more straightforward. For now, it's expected that this updated switch to model will only be available in Europe, though Nintendo is reportedly keeping its options open. Should other countries progress their own similar regulation regulations in the future? And here's what I'll say. More countries should make this a regulation because this sounds really awesome. Yeah, of course. Taking care of the consumer, letting you you buy the product. You should be able to fix it and do what you want with it. Not to be like, well, this thing is garbage now. Yeah, like how many waste? How many like pieces of hardware do we have where it's like, damn, the batteries has gone to shit on this thing. I'm going to have to buy an entirely new product to replace it. And my problem, of course, is that I love my Nintendo Switch too. I play it all the time and the batteries trash. There's such a trash battery. I remember when it launched, there was like, well, you know, you boot it in safe mode, you do this, you run it down, you do this, you do it. And I was like, I do it twice. Yeah, it's like a setting. So you don't like, like twice. Not even that. Like there was like a whole, if you do all of this, you can get more. It was like, hey, that shit. Yeah. So yeah, yeah, like, yeah, this is great. And I always just say how much it costs. I think to put it out for the same amount. It has to be the same amount. Right. You would think I mean, like, oh man, that would suck if it's like $100 more. I mean, do you think there's more movable components to this? Right. If you're going to be able to get in and get out. Sure. Yeah. I can't imagine because maybe it is as simple as like, yeah, I don't know. I feel like you could upcharge because at that point, I feel like you'd be like, okay, Europe, here you go. At that point, why don't you like lube it in with like, I guess like a pro version of the console, but I guess that's doing too much because then it's like your marketing like scheme is like scheme, but like your marketing, I guess plan, thank you, has changed as far as what that looks like. If you add in a switch pro edition or whatever. But for me, I look at it as like the DualSense Edge where the DualSense Edge gives me the thing where it's like, okay, now I can remove my analog sticks. Of course, how all this model modular shit. And I also get this upgraded controller at the same time. So like they're able to actually justify getting that money from me a bit more. Well, I mean, I feel like with the European regulations here, right, this has to be just the base model, the switch for them. Like they're like, I don't think so. Yeah. But I still think they could probably put tax 50 bucks on it and explain and tell people it's because it's, you can actually do shit to it. So you have two SKUs at Best Buy when you go? No, I think you phase that out and then you have to cost more. I'm not saying that's what's going to happen in Nintendo. Honestly, they're a corporation corporate corporate, you know, they suck and everything else, but like Nintendo usually is pretty good at their consumers. So they probably won't. And honestly, there's probably some, it sounds like, you know, Europe's got a shit together keeping people in check. So there'll probably be some like, no, that's illegal. You can't punish us. But I think that they could make an argument of what's, you know, there's more movable parts to the switch we're selling you, which does make it cost more for us to produce. Yeah. Yeah. But maybe I'm completely wrong. And I don't think they would do it. But yeah, if it happens, I just don't imagine it being that much more expensive. Right. No. And I don't think it's going to be like hundreds of dollars. Yeah. Yeah. Let's move on to story number three. Netflix's live action assassin's creed series has started filming as cast. Is officially announced. This is Chris Scolian at video games. Chronicle Netflix's live action adaptation of assassin's creed started filming Ubisoft has confirmed as posted on the official Ubisoft account on Twitter. The series will take place in ancient Rome in the year 64 AD. The show's cast has also been confirmed and will include Toby Wallace of baby teeth and Lola pedicure of say nothing. Netflix greenlit the series in July, 2025. It will be produced and run by Emmy nominees, Robert Patino of DMZ, Westworld and sons of anarchy and David Weiner of Halo, homecoming and the killing. The full now the full announced cast includes you ready for Craig because there's some names. Toby Wallace. I mean, I'll stop you right when I went for like audio listeners. Go look at this image. It's up right now on our screen or whatever. When I saw this go through the kind of funny games daily slack tonight, I click through like this can't be real. Right. This is like clearly some kind of joke from the audience. Like what's like, what do we do? Like what the fuck are we doing? No, all of these people. I've never seen any of these people in my life. I mean, that's not a knock against them. So that was my first thing. I'm just like, I looked for any name I recognize. No. And then it's like just in general, this is an official fucking graphic from Netflix. This looks like what I used to do when we started the game over Greggy channel and I made my own things where I was like, yeah, do black. We'll do the assassin's creed, aerial red and then the full cast of white and the drop in Netflix logo that I understand there's a lot of information to put out, but like what it, yeah. So box boxes, it's a wanted list. It does look like what they put on the FBI. Like here, like this is a very, very peculiar way to get into the weeds of this show that I didn't even realize was happening. I didn't realize it was happening either. Uh, to read the names real quick for audio listeners and for people who might be familiar with some of the names, right? You got Toby Wallace, Lola, Pettigrew, Laura Marcus, Tanson Crawford, Zachary Hart, Nabon Rizwan, Claes bang, newie, Rupas, Romsey, Bedia, Sean Harris, Corrado in Vernice, Sandra Goldberg, comp, Yusuf, her core and mirror and Mac. Now, Greg, yeah, I did the littlest bit of research. Okay. I, I, I looked up what happened in Rome in, was it 64 AD? Got it. No, I appreciate where you're at now. Okay. And the one major event was the great fire of Rome. Are you familiar with the great fire? No, I'm not. I know the Chicago fire. I mean, yeah, who can forget? Um, the great fire of Rome began the evening of 18 to 19 July 64 AD. That's how they wrote it. Sure. No, I understand you just rolled the bunch of doors. The fire started in the merchant shops around Rome's chariot stadium, Circus Maximus. After six days, the fire was brought under control, but before the damage could be assessed, the fire reignited and burned for another three days. In the aftermath of the fire, nearly three quarters of Rome had been destroyed. That is 10 out of 14 districts. Wow. According to Tacitus and later Christian tradition, Emperor Nero blamed the devastation on the Christian community in the city, imitating the empire's first persecution against the Christians. Other contemporary historians blamed Nero's incompetence, but it is commonly agreed by historians nowadays that Rome was too densely populated and inadequately prepared to effectively deal with large scale disasters, including fires, and that such an event was inevitable. Does that excite you when you think about the potential of an assassin's creed? I mean, you're trying to get me, bait me into a joke, but I think I'm being genuine. I do think that's an exciting premise in terms of like, I'm sure we're going to get into it that this was all caused by the Templars fighting the assassins. Right. And that sounds neat. Yeah. I like when you take a real world thing and give it a, you know, a fictitious, fictitious, you know, reason for it to happen or whatever. Yeah. And again, like an assassin's creed show could be really cool. Like I'm not like, it's just like, didn't know this was happening. Look at this. And I'm like, these people could, this could be, am I getting AI goofed? Is this, is somebody put this in, did somebody put all these names and people up through AI? And I'm just like, awesome. Like I don't cool, but it's just like, what a weird way to announce this or at least debut this information. Yeah. Well, I mean, one of the things I do love about assassin's creed is assassin's creeds commitment to taking actual history and putting those twists on it. Like you're talking about, I remember playing, I'm sure I've mentioned this multiple times, but I played assassin's creed one. While I was a freshman in college and I was majoring in art at the time. I was majoring in graphic design, actually. And for that, I had to take an art history class. Sure. And while I was doing a specific unit on like, I forget exactly what it was, but it was like certain art monuments in like certain areas of the world, like BC era, right? That like, as I'm learning in this unit, I'm playing assassin's creed one and I'm running into these exact, like I forget what the exact, there's like the gold dome in, why can't I think of the name of the city? Y'all know who I'm talking about. The Vatican. No, not the Vatican chat. Let me know. It's the sax creed one. Okay. But like stuff like that, where I was looking at, I'm like, damn, I'm learning about this in class. This is really cool. Right. Like being able to kind of like use this as an educational tool. I've thought has always been fucking dope about assassin's creed. And so like the idea that I'm not too familiar with the great fire of Rome. I'm curious. Let's see if assassin's cream can put me on once again. Jerusalem. Thank you so much. I couldn't think of Jerusalem. But yeah, I'm not going to say I'm excited for this, but I'm very curious about it. Okay. And I like I'm interested. This is what I would rather them have done. Here's the hood of assassin. I think that would have been a more fun way to do. You just show me your it's begun filming. Give me something out there. You know what I mean? Just a blade coming out of his hand, you know, and out of his hand. You know what I mean? But yeah, it's like Wolverine. We're taking some creative liberties, giving the assassin's blade. It goes up his arm for real. Listen, they can do what's firing me. And you know what I mean? They can do for this guy. Let me give you a pallet cleanser. Okay. Cause if you know, but Kevin, can you throw what I put in assets up again? I was already here for content in the Crimson Desert subreddit. But I like how to pay, how to pay respects in Crimson Desert. It's the classic call of duty thing, but it's press L one to bring up the reticle aim of the casket and press X to enter focus mode. R three and square to place the flowers hold L two and L three R three to pay respects. That's what I'm talking about. That's really funny. That's really, really funny. Hey, Jean freak one writes in it says when are Ben and Henry going to fight. Oh, no, they'll take on other kids. Oh, the tag team. Yeah, I think that's what happened. I like to think of this thing where somebody like bully Sammy at school and then her big brothers Ben and free show up. I like that. I like that. I like the idea that they're all going to the same school. I guess I guess Ben's not that old, right? Like he could be a fifth grader while they're first graders. Yeah. Yeah. Is that still to know that won't work out right. Kindergarteners, I guess. Our kindergarten five five is when you start like school kindergarten we say yeah, right. So if and Henry's one now right, but it'll be two later. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we'll be in fifth grade while he's in first grade right if he's five right now. Yeah, that's right. The problem is are they probably not going to be the same school district time. No, no, no, no, no, but I mean it's like you know, if I if I hear from Tim that you know, Sammy's getting bullied. I'll drive now. I'll pick up Henry on the way. We'll pull up real quick. We got one from Science Dog official who says I want Brett and Lee Mulligan cross KF crossover please. Every time I put up a photo of me in the suit for a few days, everybody's always like, oh man, that's who I'm thinking of right. I think you're thinking of Sam Reich. Yeah. But you and Brett and Brett and Lee Mulligan would make excellent content together. Okay. But I'm here's the thing is I'm probably any of our audience that watches dropout. I'm on the same wave wavelength as you where I see all the potential. I see all the chemistry that we would have with them. Yeah. But I need I need more people to mobilize because I don't know if I have the strength to like make this happen myself. But yeah, I'm Brett and Lee Mulligan. He's like, he's the guy right now. Is he blown up too? Is he in fucking movies? I mean, but he's been blown up for a while. Okay. But it's like the D&D world. Oh, okay. He's probably like, well, he does stuff with Erica, right? Yeah. I mean, Erica just does he does stuff with dropout. Well, Erica is my connection. Erica, I know if he too, but I mean, I don't even know if he I think a little bit more through Erica. I see. I see. Yeah. Yeah. Erica can make those connections. We need to figure the pitch of what we're pitching. You know what I mean? I don't know what pitch. See, I was thinking about this last night because I was watching right. I think is she part of dropout or is she part of the D&D thing? She's like, she is like a recurring person on dropout. Okay. I think dropout doesn't really have anybody that's like, oh, you're you're like your dropout. Remember, I think they probably like bring in people season by season. I think my first pitch would to be to have like you, Andy, Nick and Tim on all chat. What's the show where they drink? Where they tell it's like two truths and a lie. Yeah. And you have to drink if you like are the person who wrote in with like the thing. Yeah. Um, run the name of that show chat. You would need to be on make some noise. You and Andy would be great on make some noise. I think dirty laundry. Yes. A kind of funny episode of dirty laundry would be awesome. And I think what actually work and then see they have their game show. I don't know who the right person per. See the easiest, keep in mind. So here's what we need to do. Yeah. We got a reverse engineer because apparently we like them and they're great. Yeah. So we need to figure out who we're flying up here to do our stuff. And then we hit it off become really good friends. I would say with those two people. Yeah. So it's like, who can we plug into our stuff? Obviously, a few D showdown. That's easy. Yes. So, but who could be on a game? Is there a person who could be on a daily games daily or a game? A game daily on a games people. Oh, my guy. Um, man, I didn't get much sleep last night. Um, he's also on a Matt Brian, David Gilbert. He came from polygon. I'm pretty sure. Okay. Yeah. Brian David Gilbert is like, he's a big game guy. Okay. So he would be the guy on games daily. I think if you, I mean, if you really want to get our foot in the door, it would be Sam Reich cause he owns the whole operation. Okay. So we have him up. He wouldn't, I don't think he would do games daily, but like, no, no, no, no, no, no. A funny podcast game showdown. Okay. The whole thing. Um, oh. Now if you want quality, you know what I mean? If you want to have a good time, Vic McAless. Okay. She does their show. Uh, very important people. That's where they put somebody in. Oh, you would be great on that show too. That's where they put somebody in makeup. Okay. And like, they don't tell them like what they're going to turn them into Kevin. See if you can Google. Yeah, I just, but like, you imagine Ronald McDonald being interviewed. And that's the thing is like, that's the kind of energy people bring to that show though. Like that's what you have to do. Name of the show. Very important people. It's insanely funny. I've seen it a lot. Yes. But like, I've never, like it's always just tick talks as I'm scrolling. So yeah, essentially they will put you in a bunch of makeup and like turn you into a character you wouldn't know until you look in the mirror. You would have to like think of, all right, who is this character? Like, what am I going to be? And then she interviews you. Oh, that's easy for me. But I'm just going to wheeze laugh the whole time on the interview. I mean, that works. Yeah, it's like that guy looks like he's doing really good. Well, he's the thing. Yeah, a lot of these people are incredible at improv. Yeah. Great. You're so good at improv. Yeah, I didn't say I'm not here. People like your wheezing. You, you know when to turn it off and you know when to wheeze laugh. Okay. Yeah. I think you do great. Okay. You've given me a lot of names to try to figure out how to get connected. It seems like Sam Wright would be right. Sam right. Yeah. Right. It would be the way to go. I mean, if we can get him out of here, that's a busy man, you know, is he? I imagine so. He owns the whole operation. Okay. We'll figure it out. Okay. Let's move on to, I'm trying to decide here because we got super chats coming in now. Well, yeah, I'm looking Sam is being interviewed by fucking Andy Richter. Why? What? Well, you asked, you asked who would be the person to get out here. The same right should be the person to get out here for what a guarantee. Okay. I like it. Do you want success or not? You're right. You know what? We got to shoot for the stars. You might lay in on a cloud. That's what they say. Exactly. Story number four, resident evil requiem debuts as the best selling game of the year in the United States. So far, this is Rebecca Valentine at IGN. Unlike the exceedingly slow proceeding month of January, February, 2026 had a steadily moving line of new releases to shake up the US sales charts with resident evil requiem debuting as the best selling game of the month and thus far the entire year. We don't have a specific sales figure for a requiem in the US, but Capcom has said it is sold 6 million globally, making it the fastest selling game in the franchise ever. Unfortunately for money and numbers people, all the new releases didn't really do anything to boost overall sales compared to last year. According to Sir Kana's monthly report compiled and analyzed by Matt Piscotella, total game spending was up only 1% year over year. Content spending was flat and accessories were down 2% from last year. Hardware was the only area that saw real change and that's largely thanks to Nintendo Switch 2, which wasn't out at this time last year. With the Switch 2 in the mix, hardware was up 22% to $326 million, with Switch 2 spending offsetting the declines in all the other consoles. The PS5 still led both dollar and unit sales, but the Switch 2 is still outpacing its predecessor 9 months in, trending 45% ahead of the original Switch in the US. Notably, November was the Switch 1's 9th month in action, so both consoles now have a Black Friday under their belt when comparing their respective time on the market. February, 2026, US top 20 best selling games. Go like this. I'm sorry, at the bottom. Make it fun, right? At number 20, you got Resident Evil Generation Pack, which I didn't realize was a thing. And number 19, Pokemon Legends ZEA. Number 18, Spider-Man 2. Above that, My Hero Academia, All's Justice. Above that, Forza Horizon 5. Above that, Ghost of Yote. Above that, God of War, Sentence. Sparta. At 13, you have Diablo 2, Resurrected. At 12, you have Red Dead Redemption 2. At 11, you have Mario Tennis Fever. Now we're into the top 10. And number 10, Grand Theft Auto V. God damn it. It never stops. Never stops. Never stops. And number nine, you got... Be a brand new Mario Tennis game. Dragon... That is insane, actually, when you put it like that. At number nine, you got Dragon Quest 7, Reimagined. At number eight, Madden NFL 26. Number seven, Battlefield 6. At number six, EA Sports FC 26. At number five, Hell Divers 2. Hell Divers 2. God damn. At number four, you got Minecraft. At number three, Call of Duty Black Ops 7. At number two, NBA 2K26. And at number one, you got Resident Evil Requiem. Come on. Shout out to Dragon Quest 7, Reimagined. Yeah. I wonder if they're happy with the number nine placement there for a brand new Dragon Quest Reimagined game. For a remake of Dragon Quest 7, I think so. Yeah. I mean, coming in above Mario Tennis fever, and I don't know what, like, which week or what days those people... Yeah. So, like, maybe you have more time, but I think that's still impressive to outsell a new Nintendo game. Yeah, no, 100%. Not too unexpected, I would say, right? Yeah, Resident Evil Requiem being the highest selling game of the year so far. I wonder what... Do you think that sticks with Christmas Desert? Ooh, wow, what a great question. Yeah, I think it does. I think it does. What are the last numbers we got on Resident Evil? Six million. Okay. Yeah. I think... Yeah, I think it does, right? Because people love Resident Evil. It's on everything. It's a game we're all talking about. It's game of the year, game of the year. Yeah. Christmas Desert, it gets more looky-loose, I guess, but again, I think... The next... This is the weekend. Monday, I'll tell the story. When we get in on Monday, if they're like, we move five million units, four million, you know what I mean? Total. Yeah. It keeps pumping up those numbers, shouting them out. I think you have a different conversation happening. One of the arguments I made yesterday to Roger about sales and how reviews impact sales or how reviews don't impact sales was that, I don't know if the reviews were gonna stop Crimson Desert selling, however, the reviews, I think, are indicative of how the audience is going to feel, whether you like it or not. And so now that the audience, I think it's somewhat on par with how reviewers are. And when I say that, I mean, some people love it. A lot of people aren't as into it. I think that affects word of mouth. I think when you look at big games that release and you see those sales be like, oh man, day one, two million, day four, four million, oh, we sold 10 million a week. I think a lot of that is people being like, yo, this shit's awesome in people spreading the word and spreading the excitement and spreading the hype. I don't think Crimson Desert is gonna have that as strongly. 100%. That's what I was talking about with the snowball effect, right? Where it is that idea that you have that big launch, here's everybody who believed in it. Yeah, you're all the preorders. And then you need people going, oh my God, it's delivered on this. It's amazing. Have you played? You gotta play. You don't, I think need a subreddit filled with people going, this is shit. When I, that's every video game I know, but even the Steam mixed reviews, right? Like you don't have runaway positivity right now of like it's doing everything you need. I think a lot of people are like, oh, I'll hold off. I've already seen comments in our own community. I think during the stream being like, ooh, maybe I wait for a sale and go from there. Yeah, I think FOMO is very important when it comes to like this moment sales continuing to come in and like people continue to be like, oh shit, everybody's talking about this. Everybody's loving it. People are saying it's a game of the year contender. Oh man, I got a show. I got to buy this thing. Right? I think that's a driver for so many sales. And I just don't think Crimson Desert has like that. What it has is that all factor, right? It has a conversation around it. There's an interest there, but how long is that gonna last for it? We shall see. We shall see. But Greg, Crimson Desert is already with two million sales, a big game. If I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about. Where would I go? You go to our last news story, the Wii news. When we run you through all the tiny news items, you need to know about. Story number five, Wii news. Let's start with a little required reading. I'm pulling from VGC. The original report is from game files. I want to funnel you guys over to game file for the report, but VGC condenses it down at the beginning of their article saying, the Subnautica II legal saga has still not ended with publisher Krafton now being accused of ignoring a judge's order. Game file reports that their lawyers are now accusing Krafton of ignoring the court's demand that Gil now be in charge of the game's launch plans. According to the legal team, Papuces didn't have the authority to declare a May release for the game because as of the court's order, the previous day, he was no longer in charge of unknown worlds and only Gil should be able to make that call. So there's more drama around Subnautica II. Shocking. Of course, the full report is a longer breakdown, so go over to gamefile.news for the full story. Another one from you from VGC. The co-founder of Kingdom Come Deliverance II, sorry, the co-founder of Kingdom Come Deliverance developer, Warhorse Studios, has shared his views on generative AI following online backlash to the news that Larry and has been using it. Quote, this AI hysteria is the same as when people were smashing steam engines in the 19th century, Vava wrote. Quote, Larry and said they were doing something that absolutely everyone else is doing and got an insanely crazy shitstorm. I've even seen someone accuse us of using AI in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. I don't know anything about it, except that I used Topaz Labs to upscale some of the AI elements from Kingdom Come Deliverance I and some of the old low-res textures. I'm no fan of AI-generated art, but anyway, it's time to face reality. AI is here to stay with us. It's frightening as it may be. That's the way it is. Personally, it scares me the most in the music because you can't even recognize AI there anymore. End quote. Just shut up. Everybody shut up. They say the- What the fuck? How can you start? How can you start with this AI hysteria? Am I saying hysteria? Like, ah, whatever. And then you get there. But I'm scared about it in music. I'm scared about it in music, but not in your own industry. Everybody's using it, Craig. We gotta get over it. Everybody's using it. Either shut up or be like, yo, not generative AI, this kind of AI. You know what I mean? Like, get into the weeds of what the fuck you're talking about. I'm sad we're at a place where we had to bring up AI every single episode. I try to avoid it sometimes. And I'm like, okay, well, this is new, so we kind of have to talk about it a little bit, but. Ah, it's scary. I'm worried about it in music. God. And then loads of the fall sales have topped 2.5 million. And that is it for we news. Everybody's using it, Greg. Everybody's using it. Everybody's using it. Let's hop back into super chats. Joshy Frog says, RE9 is my game of the year for now. Got the platinum last night. Congrats on that, Joshy Frog. Last geek writes in, it says, do a kind of funny one shot of Honey Heist with Brennan Lee Mulligan running it. Cool. That's a tape. Yeah, connect us with him. Gary, the third says, oh, we are just giving us dropout stuff now. They say, go watch BDGs unraveled. Still holds up. Oh, this is Brian, David Gilbert's. I forget. I forget they call him BDG. It's cool. That's a cool way to call him. Yeah. Louise, this is what I want. I want Brian, David Gilbert and iffy to play some magic, the gathering with me and Mike. Oh, that's a good one. That's all. That's all I want. We try to make it happen. You know, if you real well, you just hit him up and be like, yo, this is what we need to do. We need to get a crossover going. Oh, yeah. He's down. Okay. It's just a matter of lining up because I always try to do it when they're in town, like usually around sketch. And then people end up being busy. And so like, you know, it's just a tough thing to line up. But I want to make it happen. We will make it happen. Louise Castillo says, what if you had a show called We Have Cool Friends? Oh, yeah, that'd be helpful. We would need an audience who would watch it. Yeah, you had to actually click on the thing and watch through, listen through, you know, analytics do matter. How we get paid, unfortunately. But yeah, that's how it works. Dante64 says, we need a game changer of KF versus Dropout. Are you enjoying the entertainment content? One half hosted by Sanrush. How long do you think that'll be around? One half hosted by Greg. I like that idea. Jason says, people think video game media pushing agenda through reviews. Go to IGN's comments and see how fast to find a culture warrior bitching about woke and she-hulk review. Whether you she-hulk, I like she-hulk. And I'm sad she-hulk got such a bad rap, man. I like that show. I enjoyed she-hulk. Yeah, that was really good. And yeah, like, I don't know. I think the one thing that depressed me in the last few days of the Crimson Desert review cycle is that like, I feel like it's gotten impossible to review big games without fighting the audience at every step. And I don't know how to fix that or there's even a way to fix that. Just don't look, just don't fight. Yeah, just put out your- Our audience is great. Obviously. I mean, yeah, there's the people and then the comments or whatever. It's just like, I don't worry about it. These people aren't worried about it. You know what I mean? Like, I don't, yeah. When we do a big review and you bring a wider net of people, it's just like, it's not worth it. Because I just remember Greg didn't like this game. Okay, well, it's fucking go like, go like what you like. What are you here? Why are you even listening to me then? Yeah. Yeah, so we've been doing this for very long time. You've been doing it for much longer than I have, right? But like, I've been making internet content for like 10 years as of 2026, which is fun to think about. Thank you. And it's crazy how like still, I'll see something through. Like I'll read so many comments that are like, hate or shit and I don't care, but I'll read, I'll see one that'll kind of like sting me a little bit and it'll take me everything. I'm like holding back not to like talk back to it. Right? And it happened with the Christmas Deserfee, and I'm like, man, I just want to talk about a game and like not have to have this like toxic back and forth. I like back and forth. Yeah. I like debates. I like conversations. There's some people out there, man. I'll just be bad. They don't want to have the debate. They don't want to have the conversation. The, or that Asian one writes in, it says too many games and not enough time to enjoy them all. I'm still leisurely taking my time enjoying RE9 and the Leon. And the Leon, I mean gameplay and story. I don't know what that means. Happy Friday and happy first day of spring. Thank you so much for that. Is it the first day of spring today? Good. Good. Oh yeah, March 20th. And I think that's it for super chats. Actually, let's hop into kind of funny.com slash you're wrong. Were you right in? Let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong. So you can correct it for those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the lobe. Um, EJRPG says bless said both high school movie. Oh, well, we figured that out. I know there's three high school musical movies. I saw all three. I've even seen high school musical musical the series. All right. Don't correct your high school musical motherfuckers. Right there. All right. Respect. C Berry says blessing. Erica and Brennan Lee Mulligan do a biweekly tabletop inspired podcast akin to critical role. And speaking of critical role, Brennan is the new DM replacing Mercer since he is now a playable character. There you go. Yeah. Brennan Lee Mulligan. He's like the guy in D&D. And he's very offensive to Matt Mercer. There's they're both the guy. But like Brennan Lee Mulligan is like he's the guy, you know, but also Matt versus the guy, but like also Brennan Lee Mulligan. You know what I mean? OK, fair. Let's all say that is it for your wrong. I also saw somebody chat. I expected to be in your wrong, but I don't know if I got it wrong or if somebody was just like getting ahead of it. I referenced Vic McHale. I don't know if I said their pronouns, but their pronouns are they them. So if I didn't say they them, apologies, I fucked up. But I don't remember if I got that wrong. But just in case. Greg. Hi. We're almost out of time, but we did get some very late super chats. So I'll stick them in here. Jeff, the Maverick says, just finished Project Hail Mary. Can't wait to see it tonight. It's a great quick audiobook, Greg, if you need a new listen. Oh, good. Yeah, I really everything I've seen, which is just the poster for the Project Hail Mary. It sounds and seems cool. Kevin, you saw it, right? What did you give it on your your thumbscale? It was one thumbs up four out of five. OK, so you're good. Yeah, I think worth going to see at the movie theaters. I'll add it to my my my thinking. Why I won't get to the movie theater. That's not a good story. Well, I wasn't listening. Very fine. You're done. That's it, Kevin. That's all we need you for. I love you. OK. Yeah, I don't think I'll make it. Movie theaters see it when it comes to on demand. I'll be there for it. And right now I'm going to see if I can get a Project Hail Mary audiobook set up here. Oh, yeah. Just one heads up. The Project Hail Mary audiobook is phenomenal. Really? And like, yeah. And it kind of, I think, makes the movie not as good. So just be aware. Really? Yeah. Too late. I'm adding in here. And do it. It's really good. You know if it's on Spotify? It is. I'm right here. Sick. That's really good. Ty Wilkins V.O. writes in a sense, I'm so sick of idiots. First of all, we could just pause there. I'm with Ty Wilkins. I'm so sick of idiots that don't know what they're talking about, saying with their full chest and not knowing the difference between AI tools and Gen AI. Yeah, I feel that. Like I it's one that, like, you know, we talk about AI all the time, unfortunately, I think not really even wanting to talk about AI, but it's becoming more and more of a part of what we talk about. What we do in video games and all that shit, right? And so, like, I think for us, when we're talking about AI in a negative way, it's usually pertaining to Gen AI specifically. But like, obviously, we have, I think we have varied thoughts when it comes to, like, things like, you know, we talk about DLSS all the time, even though DLSS lately been fucking up with DLSS 5. Prior to that, when we look at the upscaling and like the, like, up-sampling, I forget the exact term for it, but all that shit, we're pretty impressed by. And we're like, Oh, this is a cool way to do it, right? Like, I'm sure me and Greg sat down right now and talked for like 10 minutes about applications of AI that could be beneficial to people. We could probably have a really productive and really good conversation about it. But usually in video games, we were talking about AI. It seems like it's mostly based around generative stuff that we don't like. And so, yeah, this is what I was talking about. I saw it went by in the chat, so we didn't get it. I let it go. But there was somebody in there of like, I disagree with you, Greg. He shouldn't shut up. He should be allowed to voice his opinion. Yes, obviously, I'm not saying stamp out opinions. I'm saying, as I argued when I talked about it, he's not saying his full thing. He's, he's caught. There's hysteria starting it. And then there's, oh, well, but I'm worried about it. Like AI has good uses, period. Like 100%. It's generative AI. That's the danger to eroding what we're doing in art. Like to sit here and I'm not up to date on every aspect of AI, by any stretch of the imagination. But to sit here and talk about a studio using AI to crunch numbers, do whatever, like some bullshit back end thing that would take them forever. I get what they're talking about of like using AI to up res textures or whatever. It's like, yeah, sure. Okay. You know what I mean? Like I, I get that. It's just like we're to the point where people just think AI equals bad. And I'm not, I think AI equals troublesome. And I think when you get into it's the generative AI where we're like, fucking pump the brakes. What are we doing versus AI actually helping lift a studio's load or a developer's whatever, keep it human employed. Yeah. Like everything there's nuance of the conversation. I think the reason why there, there are those automatic negative feelings when it comes into the conversations that we often have, is that like, I think when it comes to something like gen AI that everybody unanimously, unanimously is like, oh, this sucks. We don't like this. But the people who control the numbers, the people, the shareholders, all that shit, right, keep pushing for it. Everybody is very passionate about not letting this, this get through. Rightfully so. We should do our best to make sure gen AI doesn't become the norm across the industry. And that requires us, I think, to be loud about it. Right. I think that requires us to push back. And in that, I think some of the conversations, some of the nuances probably going to get lost when it is like, oh, but not all AI is bad. And like it's, it's tough to say that every single time. Yeah. It's tough to take that pause and be like, oh man, this gen AI I think sucks. But, but just remember everybody, not all AI. It can be good. It can be this. Yeah. I think you just have to be able, you have to have the freedom to be like, hey, this sucks. Like we don't like this thing. Let's not do this thing. You know, and I don't, I don't think we need to have that bogged down with the nuance every single time, even though the nuance is important and exists, but it's a complicated conversation. But Greg, this has been a wonderful episode of Confident Games Day. It has been. I've enjoyed it. And we're going to keep hanging out on GameCast. We are. I'm very excited for this gamescast. It's your voicemail. So many of you called that number. I came out here with yesterday and left really great voicemails for a really great gamescast we're about to do. Hell yeah. Of course.
