Yeah, gotcha Here's the thing right is like now I'm playing this game with the idea of this is the team I want to take into Pokemon champions Because that they're gonna give it home compatibility at some point Yeah, put them in the home and then take them put them into champions battle the world. No Are we living in crazy A few days ago don't act like just a few days ago I wasn't scrolling on my timeline and everybody was acting that Crimson desert was gonna be the the return of Jesus Christ itself in an open-world video game But I mean it's like what did you expect this was gonna be like the guy clearly looked at this guy I'm like this is generic guy number five right and he's running around a massive open world that I could just get lost it And that's what it's gonna be it's gonna you're gonna run around the massive open world You're gonna fight things you have a big tree monster right there that looks sick as fuck And then you're just gonna play 20 hours of this 50 hours 100 hours of this and just have a good time You don't care about the main character don't care about the story. It's gonna be fine It's gonna be fine everybody. He's my thing is I 100% agree with you as far as I don't think I think reviews have a I Guess like gamer culture impact as far as like how people receive things right? But I don't think that I don't think that translates to the wider margin of sales for a game of this scale What I do think though is that reviews are Indicative of how people will feel once they get their hands on the game I don't I think the blacksmiths wukong comparison is really interesting because what I will say to blacksmith wukong is that I think there is a There's a passion in market and still like a gameplay flow to blacksmith wukong that Resonates with people even though I know on this show oftentimes you would have the jingle is blacksmith wukong combat bad No, it's just not great right like we didn't look I Don't know lyrics, you know like if we weren't in love with blacksmith wukong, but at the very least I still understood why it did Well, I think both is the combination of there was a cultural factor of That developer I believe being located in China and like a big Chinese audience for that game But then also like as an action game as a Solzy kind of thing as a game that's doing a lot of flashy shit, right? Like there was something there for blacksmith wukong to connect themselves to I'm so curious because I do think Crimson Desert Is going to get I mean already already has a lot of attention without even being out Yeah, I do think a lot of people are gonna flock to it I do think I think a lot of people are gonna buy it I think a lot of people are gonna argue back and forth on this game even more so than blacksmith wukong Really? I think a lot more people are not going to buy with Crimson Desert interesting. Why is that? I have not played it right now again. I've only played I'm in the Greg Miller boat right of like I've only played a fraction of this game, right? I didn't get past the 20 hour mark, uh, which apparently that's the beginning of the Tutorial Which people don't I don't think people sit and think about how long 15 to 20 y'all or 30 hours You got it You got to read your messages when you say them like you when you send a message that says oh it gets good after 15 hours Y'all got to stop that's a whole season of a television here. I think said 30 hours, right? Think about how long 30 hours is 30 hours is like you're spending full Waking days. It's almost kind of days in a row. That's way too long. No 30 hours. What's the funny thing? No, the song is 30 hours my brain's broken today. I don't know numbers. I don't know lyrics I don't know anything if you start a lyric. I will not be able to finish it and I will bungle it But I digress right even removing that from the thing I think the thing about Crimson Desert that's going to make it not as Resonant as a blackmouth wukong is just that it's a way harder game to get into You know like in the way that I played sure the first let's say I don't know 10 15% of the video game or whatever you want. I'll have everyone to quantify it black move wukong I got halfway through that game because that game flows at the very least even if I'm not loving a certain aspect of blackmouth wukong There's still like something that see going there's still a gameplay loop that is like that Give that grants me more direction than Crimson Desert Crimson Desert is really easy I think to get lost and get real boarded. Mm-hmm But do you think that maybe we are a bit disconnected just a little bit of like I think about of course red Redemption 2 is one of the greatest games of all time, but like people talk about like reviewers talk about like all the intro the beginning is like really a slog and everything but then that game of My point is that people like getting lost in worlds Yeah, right like even if it is methodical and slow like they like a big open world to get lost in right and I do think That there is something there right even if the game is quote-unquote Slow and slog it's sluggish and it takes a while to open up and really get super fun I do think people just like the pure role playing of walking around and being lost in something big Even if it is just pretty simple in the beginning 100% yeah, but I don't think that translates to 10 million sales right like I think because I don't think this is I In my super chats in my comments that I was leaving in the year What's up? How much did you spend on the super chat? $5? Can even give us the eight come on girl. Well, I feel like $5 is the standard You know what I mean? Let's you get enough words in there, but in my chat I was I was comparing the game actually no in the thing that I wrote in actually to Andy I Compared to the game to Red Dead Redemption 2 right? Yeah, however playing Crimson Desert Maybe you wish I was playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for me as somebody who didn't fall in love with Red Dead Redemption 2 I think Red Dead Redemption 2 does a way better job with world-building characters story all I can Appreciate so much about Red Dead Redemption 2 even if it's not like even if it didn't change my world Even if it's not something that I wanted to continue playing past halfway or whatever right? Yeah I think Crimson Desert is caught in such a weird place of it doesn't It doesn't have the Storytelling that I think brings people into a red Dead Redemption 2 It doesn't have that like fulfillment of the Western fantasy or like a specific type of fantasy right crimson desert you're looking at Cliff here who you're playing as and sure you are this you're the gray main who is like Kind of like a warrior dude who like goes on jobs kind of like a witcher type character But I don't think the fantasy Feels as worthwhile and as engaging as a red dead as a witcher right and so like when you are Not I think doing the work to bring people in on engagement of that level right the world-building level the the Fantasy level the I just want to role play as this character level Then I think you have to do it on the gameplay level and on the gameplay level I just don't think it has the stuff either when I think of the games that kill it in that regard the Elden Rings the Tears of the Kingdoms right the open worlds that are like go through you have all these systems get lost to XYZ thing and like You see something go to it. I You can do that though in this game right like it. I mean you can see something out and you go right yes But that thing has to be interesting right I have to get there and go what the fuck is this right? I have to get there and it'd be something fun there or an interesting puzzle or like you don't find those of like and this is Genuinely asking right like so it's like I go to like a big mountain and I thought fully climate or whatever like am I getting a Like a quest or are the things for me to find the collectibles like what does that look like? I mean you might find like random shit I think my problem because I'll give you I try to give you an example I can get that won't be like Spoiler-ish you can go places you can do things. I think it's the matter of like are those things interesting sure There was one thing that happened to me where I was like, oh shit. What's happening? Here's what I'll say right again. No spoilers. I'm trying not to give any story details There was a moment where I was on my way to do a thing. I was on my way to do a job and on my way there I like Get knocked out essentially and I'm like oh shit. It's happening a merchant gameplay Something's happening and then like I wake up and it's very much like all right now figure out how to do the thing And I'm like this should be cooler than it is like something about this just isn't working It feels like a game that has content just to have content as opposed to content that Speaks to you that feels fun that feels like it's trying to like I don't know do something clever or reward that exploration What up? Man, I wish I was on the review yesterday. Yeah, cuz I think this game has so many of the pieces I think what you're seeing on screen are so many of the pieces one of my favorite moments that I have to happen Just out in the open world was me finish up finishing up a quest Walking around and like a bird lands on my shoulder and I'm like what the fuck and then the bird hands me no And I'm like that's fucking cool And then I read the note and I'm like alright this that's not interesting like yeah It just doesn't go cool things are happening, but it's not connecting with you. Yes, like things are happening Yeah, but they're not even cool to me right like things that should be cool are happening But it feels like if you'd asked somebody to create an open-world game who had only like heard about Okay, yeah, yeah, I Get what you're saying I grew with you in terms of like that that is the thing that pushes something to become a witcher 3 Right like you need to have that depth in order to continuously have sales But I think the beginning of this game's life cycle. There's so much curiosity. There's so much hype There's so much excitement and also you look at the release schedule right now for the year Like there's a big open spot right now for a game like this, right? We don't have a GTA 6 we don't have you know potential witcher DLC, right? Like there is a good like four four to five months they got here right to like really kind of like build these sales And yeah, right now I'm looking at the black myth wukong Stuff right here in terms of how much it's sold it's early 2025 saying about 25 million units I don't know if anything has been updated past that but yeah 25 million is like the high end of where black myth wukong is and it's sold 10 million copies within three days So I think 10 million copies within three days is actually around where you're gonna see this really I do think this game is gonna be huge I mean like again normie people are walking up to me talking to me about like crimson desert on the street Yeah, I don't know No, but I was talking to my trainer this morning and he was just like he this how we refer to it He looked at me and said are you getting the game? So what game? The game I said crimson desert. He's like yeah, I'm like wow like that that is the game for you You know what I mean like that is like this is like the thing that you're looking forward to like it is like all Incompeting it's this big curiosity, right? Like I do think that that is I mean the way that people are thinking about it Is the big game for the next four months? I mean yeah, like every now and then I'll open up Twitter right and like there was a dude who I think is on the joe Button podcast that I was sitting about crimson desert That was the moment from here. You know a hundred hour mark, but then also the people that I know that fucking love it like that's their game, right? But that person those people in those friend groups that say you gotta get fucking Crimson Desert that so I don't think this is gonna be a Witcher 3 well I'm just saying like if that that is happening within our small group of people that got codes right that our reviewers that are critics right like That not is always indicative right, but it just shows that it can get your hope the game is not Unable to get their hooks in you right like it is it is possible sure sure that to become someone's game It's like I could see if you like MMOs I could see you liking this game That's the thing is like there's something there as far as this is the developers of what's the name of the MMO black thing desert?
