20 minutes a day 365 days a year this is the pack a day podcast welcome into the wednesday edition of the pack a day podcast i'm steve perech joined as always by desi evely no sarah kelleher i'll be nice she's out on the ir she's not feeling well so sad that Sarah's not able to join us today uh hopefully she's feeling better soon but um Dusty man there's not a lot going on combines kind of running around so Gutekunst talk but we got a couple questions about that so we'll address that we honestly there's not nothing really crazy happening here so we're going full mailbag man like this is gonna be a fun one just got a bunch of questions from Twitter from Blue Sky uh DMs all that stuff but before we jump in how you doing over there i'm you know what i'm i'm a little sick as well uh i got you know kids are back to school so i picked up all the different things they were bringing home with them which is fun but um you know i'm here so i guess i'm built different than sarah uh i'm doing good i mean it's always so shocking to me because i know like you know nfl is you know 365 and all that stuff it's always shocking to me like oh super bowl was not that long ago we already got the combine combines already here we got free agency coming up so i'm excited combine has kind of started i guess like gms there's interviews with gms and some coaches were out in indy today i don't think the real stuff starts until what this weekend yeah i think like all the drills and the interviews and all that stuff but uh that stuff's upon us it's when i start trying to dial back in someone asked a draft question on this podcast um mark wellner uh was like he asked me some so who are your favorite draft people i was like i know two people in this draft i've not gotten there yet man but i'm getting there so uh i'm excited to start digging into some of this stuff but for now i'm doing all right brother i'm here i'm excited that we got some good questions today yeah we definitely got some good ones so first one off got our good buddy brian hartstead always always number one no quick response so kudos to brian but which new nfl head coach do you feel will have the biggest impact on their team mccarthy in pittsburgh halfley in miami harbaugh new york food question starts at cut fruit desserts strawberry shortcake lemon meringue pie and apple crisp i'm gonna go i'll go harbaugh uh just because it feels like that there is there's talent in new york i think i mean i don't there's certainly issues all over the place but there's talent on that team the issue seems to have just been some of the organization some of the communication um getting everyone on the same page has been kind of like a mess from an organizational standpoint up there so i think getting someone in who i have some issues with hardball but he knows how to run a team like if nothing else he was like the ceo head coach in baltimore i know he was very involved in the defensive side of the ball in terms of game planning and stuff like that but he knows how a team should look should run um i heard some stories about dable were like i'm not surprised maybe it went south there a little bit but just to be someone who knows how to run an organization to put that together. I think McCarthy I'm kind of excited about. Halfley, I don't think that goes well. I think that's more Dolphins than Halfley, but I think there's enough talent in New York and Harbaugh's got the skill set, I think, to bring that down. I wouldn't be shocked if there's a decently quick turnaround there. If his quarterback can stop running headlong into people with his face, that's what they need to stop. And neighbors will be back next year too. They've got talent. They just need to put it together. Starts to cut. I want to go. Man, Apple Crisp is so good, man. it's been a while since i have apple crisp uh my dad is my dad's favorite dessert so my mom will make it sometimes although by the time she's like hey there's apple crisp here it's gone because my dad has eaten it all so i've not had it for a while but i'm gonna start apple crisp um i'm gonna sit strawberry shortcake and cut lemon meringue apple crisp and strawberry shortcake are like top tier and lemon meringue is like it's fine it's not my favorite but it pales pales in comparison to the other yeah no this one we completely agree on like that's apple to me apple crisp is like the top tier of these three strawberry shortcake also quite quite good that's like a that's like a one in a 1a 1b kind of thing uh but yeah lemon meringue pie i'm not really a big fan of lemon in desserts outside of like a lemonade bar that kind of thing a frozen lemonade bar those things i like but not a huge lemon in a dessert kind of guy so andy andy we got a start sick cut here um strawberry shortcake lemon meringue apple crisp what's your start sick cut fruit desserts andy okay lemon meringue apple crisp and what else strawberry shortcake uh strawberries out strawberries out entirely um apple crisp is my start for sure i'll sit lemon meringue i do like a good lemon dessert lemon rang is not my favorite give me some lemon cookies give me some lemon bars give me some lemon ice cream give me some lemon anything but uh meringue not exactly my thing but i'll set it but anything strawberry raspberry i'm out on so okay we're gonna start apple crisp okay um i guess i should have introduced andy popped in out of nowhere we're recording so hey hey andy what's up brother good to see you i saw you guys it was in stream yard and i was cleaning up some stuff and i saw you guys were recording so i'm like hey i'll stop in and say hello how you guys doing we're doing good man we're doing good man all right we i want to let's jump ahead to a question real quick because i do want to take on something along your standing sticking around andy we got something for pickett i know you've had ear to the ground on like the good account stuff and you've been probably following a lot of the presser stuff more than we have um first of all i guess pick matt pickett's question was he says good he answered a lot a lot of questions today, but like always, he didn't tell us everything. If you could magically make him give him a full answer to any one question, what are you asking him? He has to be, it's a liar, liar situation for a single question. What are you, are you asking him something from earlier today you want clarification on, or do you have something like, I just need to know this bit of information? Yeah. I would say, tell me every draft board you've ever had and list them in order. I want to know every single one of his draft boards. Now he has to tell me he's got to go look up his archives. Um, I, what I wouldn't give for like, you know, do you know the sort of content we could do if we just had like a draft board from any year, you could give me like the 1995 Packers draft board. And that would be like the coolest thing ever. Like a part of me has wanted to go to the Packers and be like, listen, you know, I'm a fan, you know, I'm not going to leak this anywhere. I want you guys to do well. I want to sit in, in your draft room for a draft. And I promise you, I will not say a thing. You can, if I say anything, you can revoke my season tickets. You can revoke my, uh, press credential. You can revoke me from being at practice. You can ban me from Packers for life. All right. If I say a single thing to anybody until either, you know, you are, uh, you know, either 20 years from now, or you're no longer the GM, whatever comes last. So I get, you know, maybe it's 15 years from now, whatever, but 15 years from now, I get to do a full disclosure of everything that happened in that draft room they can they can also tell me yeah you can't say this or this but like how sweet would that be but um that's that's my lame answer if i if i had to know something i would really want to know um i guess i would really want to know like what exactly happened uh you know aaron rogers uh jordan love drafts like what what happened that like what happened right after i think that whole saga as much as i could gain from that would be really interesting that's a good one i think mine's more current i just want to know what he actually thinks of a strong gary after the questions today, man. Like that's- I can tell he's lying. Oh, I know he's lying. I want to know what do you actually mean? I want to know that out of the Versace thing. Like what happened in the room? How hard did he slam the door when he left? Like those are the answers I want. Biggest regret would be an awesome question of like what really keeps you up at night? Because it could be like something of like, yeah, I was deciding between, you know, Creed Humphrey and Josh Myers. Or like, yeah, you know, I was deciding between X and Y and we were going to go with Y and I went with X and, you know, John Eric Sullivan wanted me to go with this player and I decided to supersede it. And that other player was Pukinakua. Like just like little, like what is your biggest regret in your entire, like that would be a great answer too. Yeah. Steve, what's yours on that? Honestly, like I would want, I would want to hear about all the almost trades, like the things that all they got to the, you know, the one yard line. and then somebody swooped in with another extra draft pick or something like that. And, you know, the things that almost happened that would have made Packers fans so unbelievably happy, you know, pulling in these trades and things that – just all that stuff that never – that almost happened that never did that I think those – to me those stories are always fascinating. Like you hear in the ones like when they almost got Tony Gonzalez from the Falcons back in the day. Ray Lewis, they almost drafted him. Yep, almost drafted Ray Lewis. Seel undrafted free agent done with Julian Edelman. And then he got drafted at the end of the seventh round and he was going to be their priority undrafted free agent, like things like that. That's just brutal. Actually, maybe I don't want to know that. You know, I don't want to know that. Those are painful enough. I don't need to know any other ones. He's got Terry McLaurin. I wish I had taken Terry McLaurin instead of Jay Sternberger. Like that one's that he's going to have that. It's all the ones that like, well, you know, I could have TJ Watt instead of Kevin King. Brother, we don't need to relitigate this. Shut up. I take it back. there's a start to cut in there too andy we need your start to cut answer um casual dining restaurant chili's applebee's olive garden start sick cut what do you got and what you order oh yeah see i don't have an order ready it's been a hot it's been a hot second since i've been to any of them i'm gonna i'm gonna start olive garden all right i'm gonna start chili's just because i like i can actually order a bunch of things off a chili's menu and it legitimately usually is pretty darn good i'm gonna i'm gonna sit olive garden because I really just need to sit and have breadsticks come to me as much as possible. I just need unlimited breadsticks is all I need from Olive Garden. I really don't need anything else. And then I will cut Applebee's. Although I do love some Applebee's. Well, it's been like 20 years probably, but I did love some Applebee's wings. So I could go for those, but all three are fine. You're not going to go wrong with any of them, but yeah, I would probably go that order. I always had such good memories about Applebee's because I used to work in a bookstore. and it was like after closing on Fridays we would go. Quality restaurant. That was 20 years ago. Oh, we had a Green Bay for the first, you know, per Ryan Longwell. It was Applebee's, right, is what Longwell said? I think that's right, yeah. Yeah. They had some good stuff. It's been a long time since I've been there. I think I'm probably the same worder. Actually, you know what? I'm starting Olive Garden. I'll start Olive Garden since Chili's cut Applebee's, I think. They don't have half-price apps at Olive Garden. but it's all good you are but uh who's the dan campbell for is he an applebee's guy oh he is he isn't that we got to cut we've started we got to cut applebee's that's a division rival now sorry you got dan campbell we're cutting applebee's we got dan campbell as a waiter though that might be worse that's fine you could you gotta you gotta start applebee's he's not even management there brother he's ben johnson's the manager in the back our apps are too expensive he's the salty fry cook like that's all that's what he is he's just so mad in the back we should that's that's your next episode you need to build a kitchen out of nfc north personnel ben johnson is going to take waiters bring them into the kitchen have them cook cook meals for people that's what he's going to do it's like we don't need chefs i don't need chefs in this kitchen i just need waiters slash chefs that can do it all that right That probably true Steve what else we got fellas Yeah with this one I think I mean I think I kind of with Andy here where Chili has revamped their menu I haven't been there, but, you know, from all the Facebook reels and stuff that I see, like their new mozzarella sticks look actually pretty good. They've got a couple of different flavors to them. They're like this. They're like they almost look like mini bricks. but still you know cheese pull you can get me with a cheese pull every time um then olive garden you know i still i salad and breadsticks man i can get down with that um and they've got some yeah they don't have decent pasta but it's better than applebee's it's better than applebee's that's all the the primary the signature dish on the header of each website right now is the triple dipper triple dipper from from chilies mozzarella sticks from applebee's and lasagna from olive garden so Those are your signature dishes that are on the top of the website for each at the moment for whatever it's worth. This is hard hitting stuff. Yeah. I was going to say back in the day, back in the day, though, Applebee's molten lava cake, while it would give my stomach crazy issues, was still worth the stomach issues. Well, I don't think they still have it, but Chili's used to have their version of the Bloomin' Onion. That was not as good as Outback. The sauce wasn't as good, but it was still quite good. I think we can do one more here, Andy, if you want to stick around. Let's do one more. We got a nice one that could be fun for Sim for this one's from Simeon, um, that you're hired to be on the Packers staff. Which position would you like to fill? It can be positional strength and conditioning media, anything. And then starts it cut Easter chocolate is Reese's Hershey's lint. All right. I will start lint bench Reese's cut Hershey's is, is where I'm going there. Um, I, I want GM. It would be really funny if I said strength and conditioning coaches, probably as a well-known podcaster who can maybe bench the bar. I think that would be the funniest situation. But GM would be like, this is not like a joke. I think, honestly, the only thing that could get me to leave doing Pack a Day and just doing this as my full-time job is A, I get canceled. Or B, the Packers or any other team that will offer me an NFL general manager position. That's, I think, probably the only job in the world, which either lucky or unlucky for everyone is not going to happen. So you're stuck with me in this role. Mine would be, I mean, I have no idea what the role is called. I know when Mike Kafka was with the Chiefs, his job was basically like watch old football reels and come up with and go through college ball, come up with three plays a week and build them into the game plan. Like just find three plays each week that are cool. and we'll try that's where you get all like the weird like whirly dervish stuff with the goal line and all their twirly like single wing stuff from the 30s that was all like mike kafka that was his job was basically look through all that stuff and find that that's all i want to do i don't i don't want to do i don't give me a coordinator position put me in a dark room with film and then i can give someone a report and then i don't have to talk to anyone and then i can just do that and i'm just watching with film like that that's what i want give me that job um i'm starting reese's setting lint uh cutting hershey okay uh i would follow dusty with your chocolate answer reese's lint hershey uh and then as far as position i think it would kind of be like a combo position kind of like you know they got the the dude in philly that big dom like the get back guy like i want to be i want to be on the field on the sideline close to the floor telling him when he's got to push back a little bit like you know coach get up get off the get off the field right now, like get off the field. And then, but I also want to have a tablet that has, you know, direct replays afterwards. So I can tell them when it's a really good one that they should challenge or should not challenge. And then the same concept with his, you know, time management of no, we should call a timeout here. Yeah. That, no, that's a really bad idea to call a timeout. Like it's okay to lose five yards. So I think, you know, the combo. So I want to be like in the muck i want to be on the sideline just kind of doing that but not like a really one thing game game management would be really fun i think that was gonna be one of my was like gaming management slash like game analysis which would just be mine was like fourth down go calls but all i'm doing is that next time we go and go for it doesn't matter i'm not even looking at numbers go for do it the hard part about that job is you're gonna be like yep this is the right position to go for it and matt's gonna be like we're gonna punt and then you're gonna be like all right don't call a timeout here matt's gonna be like we're gonna call a timeout and it's just gonna be like you're gonna tell him like here's what you do and he's just gonna ignore her anyway so it'd be the guy on the tv that people are like who's that older guy the older tubby man next to the floor that always is he always rolling his eyes he's always so mad who is that guy i don't know what his name is your job in that role is to be the fall guy you know so so matt's gonna do what he wants to do and then he's just gonna be like yeah you know we listen to the analytics you know my analytics guy was and i'm like no i said i said punt and you went for it and and then you're just a fall guy in that situation. That's fine. What's the severance pay like? I was going to say, I will be 100% fine with that. He'll get me on the sideline for a game, and then I'll be fired. What's that slacker Kelleher up to tonight? What's her excuse? Sick, apparently. Come on. It's weak sauce. We're all sick. You know, we're all sick, Sarah. This could have been her flu game. It's going to have been her Jordan game. I think it's my flu game right now. I just want to say, appreciate you guys a ton. I'll get out of your way. Enjoy the rest of the episode. Thanks everyone for listening to a pack a day and you guys are amazing. And Sarah, tough it up next time. We'll be right back. So I remember the very first time that drinking hit me differently. I was drinking responsibly the night before and we had young kids at the time. And I woke up with my son crying in bed and just didn't feel right. It was a very harsh reminder that after the age of 30, even responsibly drinking alcohol will make you feel less than 100% the next day. The more I looked into it, the more I realized that even a few alcoholic drinks will crush your sleep and your next day readiness. That's why I'm obsessed with Cheers Restore. Cheers Restore is a dual action after alcohol aid. Its ingredients support both your brain and your liver after consuming alcohol. Cheers was originally invented by a student at Princeton and was designed for how alcohol actually affects your body, not just dehydration. And you don't have to just take my word for it. Man, I did not think that I was going to be the nice one to Sarah this week, which is Andy coming through, man. We were playing it nice and Andy comes in and drops a hammer. That was fun. He did that. So Andy popped up once before. It was an episode you weren't here for, Stephen. It was at the very end. So me and Sarah talked to him for a while afterwards, but we didn't record it because she was literally signing off when he popped in. So that was fun this time. We got some nice. Got to see him, hear him talk about all of them. Yeah, I saw the dark screen pop up. I'm like, oh, Sarah's going to join in. I'm like, that's cool. I'm like, Andy? All right. All right. I didn't know he, the pod father apparently has that ability. He's just jumping in the pods whenever just popping up just pop well i got i had to let him in he was sitting there i had to let him in but you know it's still my job i get to open the door steve so that's good that's good i feel like a big man all right we got a couple from uh blue sky as well uh lisa we are gonna save this one she's got a nice one and i like it it's we're gonna save this for when sarah's back and we can kind of do a little more in-depth episode on it so that should be a good one all All right, next question we have, Paul, even with Tom coming back, do the Packers draft or acquire through free agency a young A-list left tackle? What do you think, Dusty? Now, me and you were talking about this ahead of time. First of all, I don't think there's like an A-list left tackle on the free agency market or the draft this year from what I've seen. I'm always in favor of them picking people on the offensive line. like if they can get whoever they can get to bolster the offensive line either top end talent or depth go for it and then you i mean we talk all the time like they they value guys who can do anything i know from like a personal management perspective and asking guy to do something and the money involved and personalities and all that like that's that's one thing so you can't always do that but they do cross train most of these guys so if you want to get someone and then move some people around they've they've literally built their offensive line to be able to do that so get talent on the offensive line however you can and then you just figure out ways to make it work i don't think there's a free agent or uh or draft guy this year but i think that's an issue not even with i think the top line's fine like if you get preferred starter i think that's probably fine if sean ryan's back at center but they need depth and i do think there are still some questions enough with some of the other top end talent like they they need to be shopping they need to be trying to fix the offensive line that they need to upgrade that i mean i think that their best option right now is jordan morgan like i think that's that is their top tier answer like they used a first round pick on him like he he's they got to give him a go and see if he can do it for real for an extended period of time but you know i mean i think he from what i could tell what you what we saw at parts of the splash of the season he's earned that right to give that a try so i think that would be the biggest that's their biggest splash move is moving jordan morgan to left tackle full-time yeah opinionated lab since today february 24th is twin peaks day which packers player current or past would you hire to solve a bizarre small town murder mystery food question pie version start sit cut best pie to order at a diner apple cherry coconut cream so uh yeah who's your who's your conspiracy theory guy yeah so just to make sure uh so twin i'm sure everyone knows what twin peaks is that's in the pilot as dale cooper is driving into twin peaks he's talking his recorder and it's it's uh february 24th this is his first time in twin peaks that's why it's twin peaks day um i thought about this for a little bit but it really didn't take me that long it's like all right i'm looking at someone going to like a small kind of quirky isolated town with some weird mystical stuff going on right some really strange characters you got to go out in woods there's a weird cave maybe you get stuck in like an alternate dimension you get stuck in like the red room or whatever for 25 years who do i think could survive in that could thrive in that it's aaron rogers it's all of those things add up is he going to solve the mystery brother probably not but but i feel like he's going to give it his level best and when things get weird i feel like these that's right in his wheelhouse so give me aaron rogers um starts at cut it's twin peaks day man. I got to go cherry pie start. Get some damn fine cherry pie. I going to sit apple No I going to sit coconut cream and cut apple Apple is so inconsistent that I just never know if I going to like it Now if it apple with the crumb top yeah, I'm probably sitting on that. But a lot of times it's the crust on a lot of apple pies. It's not quite right, and I don't like it unless the crust is perfect. Yeah. Not digging that list at all, my friend. Coconut cream over apple is a rough take. I love coconut cream. I love coconut cream. And I don't like coconut, so that's why. It's an acquired taste thing, and that's always been like in my family. My mom always makes coconut cream pie for everything, so I've had a lot of coconut cream pie over the years that I really, really like. But if you don't like coconut, that's a non-starter, man. And then there's the thing is my sister-in-law, Katie, she makes an outstanding apple pie, and so i've been spoiled in you know 20 plus years of outstanding apple pie so to me that's the top tier answer is apple cherry and then coconut cream because i don't like coconut so i think that's probably the answer of most people i know i know mine's a little odd that feels like that's probably the i you know i you could have you could have told me like cherry over apple okay i got you but coconut cream over apple that's tough uh as far as the murder mystery yeah we talked about this beforehand and every time there's a weird concept of this travis jervey just jumps into my mind like i could see him walking around with this pet lion or whatever the hell he had a pet of uh there's a lion i can't realize with but there's a lion yeah yeah like that story of him pulling his own braces off like he's just weird enough to go to a small town be like yeah absolutely i'm gonna go talk to everybody if there's the other one that just popped in my mind and i don't know why but i think it's just because it's small town is jordy nelson i could see him being like oh shucks like like with an ass caught on like scooby-doo and fred from scooby-doo you could see him like walking around and being pals with everybody and being able to ask the questions that not everybody could ask so those are two entirely different vibes like i can see like the jordy nelson is as like small town sheriff fbi agent is just that's all town sheriff that's that's like a that's like a homey comedy that's not a murder mystery that's just a homey little like comedy that'd be that'd fun. That sounds cozy. I would love to watch that. Right. I thought so. All right. Let's see. Jacob Lewick. Can Chris Brooks bring back the fullback position to the Green Bay offense? Dusty, what do you think? I mean, he kind of has. I just don't know that the floor sees offense that way anymore. I am curious with as the as they kind of have gone more to gap scheme stuff and then way from this past year because their offensive line. But do you think he wants to do more power run game fullback makes a lot of sense there man but i think he likes the flexibility of like we've talked about the h-back stuff and that was deguara but they also had six foot seven josh wiley kind of doing that stuff this past year so i don't know that i guess we'll see how it goes i don't know if he ever is going to want to do like just a straight fullback i think he likes the flexibility of a bigger running back or a tight end that could fill that role but i do think with the power running game those kind of two back sets i i don't think that's going away in the floor offense so maybe but also if you're gonna do a fullback just just get a real fullback i like chris brooks but like he's not really a road grader in that regard so just give me give me someone with a neck roll man did william henderson have any kids like can we just bring them in that'd be awesome we got five kids william henderson we're just gonna run through all of them we'll see which one sticks hey you can't be able to sign them for cheap like you can get that deal going uh next one melville why did rich passaccia want out was it that he was concerned the packers wouldn't invest enough in special teams and he didn't want to get the blame for poor performance going forward i don't know man what do you like it's like we don't have an answer on why he wanted out so it's there's a lot of speculation i think um but again like i think people have brought up some very good points of you you talk about what the packers have invested but there's proof that the Packers did invest positions and money into the special teams, and they just didn't get the results. So I don't know. I don't have any mind-blowing thoughts of why he wanted out because I think from the Gutekunst press conference today, we did find out that this was a Rich Passaccia move. This was him. They were all taken aback by the fact that he decided to leave. so he was coming back so yeah we got this from from on uh it's a reported a handful of different places but over on packers.com mike spofford wrote like 10 takeaways from good to come stuck at the um at the combine and this was one of them the good to come quote from the spot for article is um i wouldn't say we're expecting it at all it caught us by surprise but i think there were some other opportunities he wanted to look at very appreciative for his run with us there was a couple other quotes so and then they also brought up something might as well talk about here as well in terms of like we talked last week about like the timing of the hiring cycle and like how all the people were already hired and they asked about that i thought his response to there was interesting this is another one would be like i want you to tell the truth i want to tell it i want you i want to know what you really think because what he said was and they said like is there a bright side to having waited this long um and now everyone's been hired he said it's kind of glass half full this actually allows us to take our time when you get in that coaching cycle sometimes you got to move fast without knowing everything you want to know about the candidates Right now, we don't have a lot of competition, so Matt's taking his time being really thorough, which, yeah, that's glass half full, but also the best candidates are not around. You can take your time, but with a lesser pool. Here's four shitty candidates. Take your time picking the best of the shit. Here are some guys you would not have considered if you hired earlier. Do any of these guys, this interest you? You brought up last week, Steve, and I do think it's probably the best theory. That is, they were sitting down for planning the meetings, He's planning on next season. They changed some stuff on him. We're not going to, we're not going to, you know, give you everything you want. We're not giving you as much control of the roster as you had. And he's like, all right, I'm out like that. We don't know. I mean, like we said, confirmed what we thought last week in terms of that. But I do, I do think there were going to be some changes. Like this method isn't working. We've devoted more, more resources to special things that we had in the past. It's still not working very well. So we're going to give you less. to me that feels plausible for like both sides for like them to like kind of go that way and him to be like no but then that's also something they probably could have brought up earlier but we we don't know but that's that'd be my guess is that theory that you floated we'll say steve okay give you your credit because i don't know if you're going to give yourself that credit you brought that up last week and then i've heard multiple other people since then um like since we recorded basically say that same thing so i don't know if they all listen to you or if they all came up with that idea i have not seen that at all you are the first person i heard float that and it made the most sense to me so just kudos to you for that man you know sarah's not here i know even even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while my friend uh all right we got two more uh first one josh bode wine what obscure drill would you want to add to the combine to make it more interesting who on the current Packers roster would excel in whatever drills you create and then start sit cut practice squad the less often used when you have four difficult choices of tamales taquitos burritos and tacos all right um we're coming off the Winter Olympics I did not have time or energy to think about like actual drills that would make sense um because a lot of is like it's running it's lifting i want something that because one of my big issues not just with the combine but with like a lot of pre-draft stuff in general is you get the measurables you can get the stuff through the film like if you've access to the film you can watch that you can see like how long are their arms how fast they run what's the three cone all that stuff what we don't get a sense of and what the interviews and just some of that process really good for is like what kind of person are they what kind of communicator are they um are they you know do do they do they want to work at this? Do they want to be good? Are they just doing it because they can? How driven are they? But it's that communication aspect that I want. And we're coming off the Winter Olympics. So I'm going curling. You got, listen, we're throwing you into teams with other guys that, that, that maybe there's going to be, and I'd love to, if there's like, there's some personality differences there or something. How do you communicate with guys? And maybe not curling, but something that affect where it's like, you got four guys per team that you don't know that well but you have to communicate really really well and really clearly to do that but i really just want a strip of ice in indy and i want to see like these big like six six monstrosity linebackers like yelling curl at other dudes like these the small white wide receivers while they do it like seeing the offensive linemen with the brooms yeah they look like toothpicks in their hands yep that's what that's all i want man i want to see how you're going to complain um i want to see how you communicate i want to see how you work as a team with people you might not get along with that well how does that work in a team setting like that's what I want um man this this this starts it cut was tough dude um I'm starting tacos that's number with a bullet I'm gonna sit tamales I'm gonna cut taquitos and I'm practice squatting burritos listen I like what the reason burritos are on the practice squad is because I can call it up if I'm in the mood I I've come to a point in my life Steve I don't know that I like burritos that much i'm fine with burritos they're just so hard over podcast over so far now i am officially done this is your worst take of all time i'm so glad sarah's in here burritos sarah would be sarah you guys you and sarah would be teaming off of me so bad right now i don't know she might be like with her her baby tummy she might be on your tom tom i don't know yeah uh no listen i like burritos just fine it's just like i i would prefer there's i'd prefer all those like tacos are much better like delivery service for that i just i don't i just don't love a burrito like i used to i don't know what that says about me or or the state of burritos in the world steve maybe it's not me maybe it's society that's wrong you know i i don't know you're not getting the right burritos that's for sure might be right i just get tacos that's the thing if i go to a place anymore i just like get street tacos or something like i don't even the burrito is like that's that's fine it doesn't really know when you go to a good hole in the wall like there was a place back in my old one of my my old jobs in Chicago. It was just this hole in the wall restaurant, but their burritos were outstanding. And it was, I would get half El Pastor and then half steak. And oh my God, it was so good. So it's a thing anymore. Everyone's got like street tacos or you go to like a food truck and I'll just get a, I'll just get street tacos. I much prefer that over burrito. I get it. It's not in here, but like I prefer quesadilla over burrito and those cases too, just the way they put together. I like that. Okay. So I came up with a couple ideas for the obscure drill. Honestly, number one, I think it'd be really cool to have like seven on seven drills. Like see some live game action because that's the one thing I think the combine kind of screws with you and they're like, oh, look at all these measurables. Look at all these amazing things. Sometimes you can have all the measurables in the world and they don't add up to you being able to perform on the field. And so, you know, I think sometimes they lose the tape, gets lost a little bit, and they get obsessed with the combine results and the RAS scores and all that kind of stuff. So I think seeing some seven on seven would be cool. And then the other thing would be for the quarterbacks. I've said this multiple times. I want this back instead of the Pro Bowl but the quarterback challenge So they got like those got those dart boards basically on wheels that are going on different angles and you got the the ball dipped in the blue paint and the quarterback's got to chuck it i want to see that and then the other one i want to see is the distance competition so how far can you throw a football within this parameter it's got to fit into you know inside like in the middle of the hashes it's got to fit in there but how far can you throw it from the goal line so i think that would be really cool i think that'd be a lot of fun there's the what's the big one the one with like farve and bledsoe and like i can't tell you how many times i've watched that clip man i've like my reels every once in a while and i love it because you know farve gets going for like 74 yards and then hardball throws for like 65 and he's like that's good for me that's good for me i forgot i was in that yeah so there's that and And then there's like the agility challenge where they had to like duck under bars and hop over stuff. And then like, I think that would be a lot of fun. Like I can understand why quarterback prospects wouldn't want to do it. But I think it would be a fun, entertaining thing to watch. Yeah, it's all about me. I don't care about them. Give me something for me. Screw them and their future. They're already going to make millions of dollars. They'll be fine. So what if this tanks their draft stock? It's fine. uh starts at cut practice squad i'm gonna go burrito taco taquito tamales so i enjoy that i do enjoy the crunch of the taquito quite a bit that's one of my my wife is from uh texas like far south texas and so she got me into tamales when we first got married i love me a good tamale man like i never i do too and i just love them though i enjoy them like you know back in the day like there would be the women that would come through the bars at like one o'clock in the morning and just like the cooler full of them and like i would like five uh five of those please it's five enough do you think five's enough yeah it's like okay let's do ten we'll do ten and then you wake up in the morning and you have them on your chest and you're like what did i do just say your stomach feels terrible just sitting there like a brick so good so good but hey yeah you should you should start those uh last question we got dave on which non-conference home game and which non-conference away game are you most looking forward to in 2026 and for fun i'll ask this again in august to see if your choices change food question starts it cuts spaghetti and meatballs spaghetti and meat sauce spaghetti and marinara bonus question what do you add to make your spaghetti sauce uniquely your own we'll be right back okay so just just to run this down real quick the non-conference opponents home this year the packers have three they got the bills the dolphins and the texans and then away they've got the Patriots and the Jets. So I'm taking home. Home, I'll take the Bills just because that's going to be such a fun game. And then away, I'll take the Patriots part. I'm tempted to take the Jets just to beat up on a really bad team. But the Patriots game would be more fun. So that's pretty easy. I said that about the Browns this year too. Who knows? that is true that is true uh and then starts to cut i know he's doing this to make fun of me because i forgot spaghetti spaghetti meatballs existed a couple weeks ago like i know what's happening here dave you're not slick man um and also i will say the first one dave you better keep track of that because i know no one here yeah me and steve are not paying attention now to what we said in august we're not gonna remember what we said now so you're gonna have to remember this for us um and if you don't that's fine as well um it does not matter sarah's our resident note taker um yeah and even she's not great at it so no i think we just stopped she remembers our she remembers our anniversary that's a that's more than both of us her anniversary is she remembers the um the all the dumb stuff we've said she used to keep notes on like the different dumb stuff we've said um which i don't know if she does that anymore it's been too much she put too many dope folks steve that was too many that was too many it was basically like watching the the the mcafee show for her at some point she was like i give up i can't do this anymore i can't do this anymore you guys say too much dumb shit it's not joyful for me um let's see so i'm gonna start oh i'll just go and order spaghetti meatballs spaghetti meat sauce spaghetti marinara i don't i don't do spaghetti a lot i would like the couple times if i will make it my own i will do talk to four for chili you can do this for for spaghetti sauce as well you put so much chipotle peppers in there just a little bit because my family doesn't like spice but you get like the smokiness in there just a bit of a kick put a little bit in there that's really good and then i'll also do sometimes um the hot ones will sell hot sauce and their barbacoa stuff is tremendous like just a couple dabs in there because that's got a really good flavor that mixes as well so um if i'm doing spaghetti it's usually because i don't feel like cooking anything else i need something in 20 minutes and so i'm not i'm not sitting there cutting garlic like the dude from goodfellas like i'm just like here's spaghetti on a plate as fast as possible it is damn impressive to watch him do that though i try every time i'm like maybe i can do the guy from good no i can't do it i can't i can't i could never i could never yeah i'd be going to the hospital he's like i just slipped my finger off sorry i was trying to you know the scene i was trying to do that you know i was trying to get it so it would liquefy in the pan you know like for goodfellas um i think i'm actually with you on the order um meatballs meat sauce and the marinara I will say I have to give Dusty the big shout out. You know, when we don't have Sarah, we're always nice to each other. But him giving me the tip of the chilies and adobo to add to the chili that I make. So that always goes in with cooking of the meats and everything. That has become a mainstay now of my chili. Man, I made it a Steve's Chili recipe. That's a great honor, man. Award-winning chili. Oh, excuse me. Yes. And then for the games, I would say I'm looking forward to the Dolphins. I think having Halfley come back home and see how they're doing. I think that would be Malik Willis as well. Yeah, it could be Malik Willis at the helm because I don't think they're going with Tua. So, yeah, I think that would be a really fun one. And then, yeah, I really don't really have options for the away game. Patriots, Jets, like, yeah, Patriots. I'd rather see a good competitive game and instead of on some yeah the Jets is just tough tough there so um I don't really add anything to my own spaghetti sauce I just I'm very plain like I do what I've actually what I have actually started doing which I'm liking a lot more number one I don't do I don't do spaghetti angel hair pasta that's always my favorite and then after watching uh luca the kids movie quite a bit i'll do um olive oil a little bit of butter and then uh like a spoonful of pesto and mix that in and it's very light and easy like not overpowering with too much pesto but that's kind of where my go-to is with lately with pasta if i do do that so well my friend that's gonna do it for us tonight that's all of our questions we uh thank you guys for sending those in make sure you keep following us on twitter uh x whatever the hell you call it uh that's at dusty evely at sarah kelleher for at steve per hedge and at packet a podcast uh before we get going dusty what do you got for us closing thoughts uh yeah huge shout out to andy for hanging out with us for a few minutes here in the middle and talking food a little bit of football that was fun i should have known that his dream job is like I want to sit in the war room like what a what a nerd man that is I want the old Packers draft board like I would also want that but he said it out loud you know the weave man the one thing I couldn't bring up to bear to ask him like he's like I want to be GM like do you would you really want that schedule of like living and breathing football like non-stop be like sleeping at the stadium like doing those things like I think you would I think you would do it like you would i don't know man to me that'd be a that's you have to you have to love like bleed football in order to do that and also just like the the the job just like all of the non-football things that go into that job you have to love as well like that's the biggest that's what i would a little off track let's always like hear with the head coach stuff every time i hire head coach like it's not the football stuff that gets you it's all like the hotel arrangements like when are we flying out like all of like the the minutiae of the job that don't have anything to do with football it's old Mitch Hedberg bit about like that they want you to do stuff in comedy that's not actually comedy like you do stand-up comedy can you write a sitcom he's like it's not the same thing that's to say like head coach and GM it's the same thing like you like football you know football here's a bunch of stuff that's like in that job but like it's not yeah like that's that's the thing that gets you um I actually talked to the endy last week I think that episode's going up on Thursday of this week. So be on the lookout for that. That's something I did. So it's Pack a Day with Andy on Thursday. And then I wrote, so Active Packing Company, I'm working on something now that should be on a couple of days. I had the first piece on my call sheet series, which is like the kind of go through all of the tendencies and what worked and what didn't by down a distance. So I did like the intro piece that's up last week. And then this week I'm kicking off first and 10. So I'm drawing up, I've got a bunch of diagrams and doing, I got a bunch of clips I pulled, write all that up and gets 22 plays on average 22 non-red zone first and 10 plays this season what worked best why did it work what were some examples with diagrams all that stuff so working on that now that hopefully should be up at the packing company in the next couple days awesome and uh i don't have really anything crazy but this is just a shout out goes out to uh to my mom who has now defeated cancer which is awesome oh yeah done with chemo done with that stuff you know obviously has maintaining to do and things like that but you know six months of chemo she fought through it lost her hair but you know was resilient and you know there are some tears but for the most part was just a tough tough sob so um very proud of her and so yeah it was really cool so um just a shout out to her i know she does listen every once in a while so if she is listening uh very proud of you i love you so um guys we appreciate it um again make sure you're following us on Twitter, all those good places, Blue Sky, I don't know.
