Summary

Blessing and Andy review Resident Evil 9: Requiem after completing a marathon stream playthrough, both awarding it a 9/10. They discuss the game's balance between horror and action gameplay, character design, level design, and how it compares to other entries in the franchise.

Insights
  • Resident Evil 9 successfully balances survival horror (Grace sections) with action-heavy gameplay (Leon sections), creating a cohesive experience that appeals to different player preferences within a single game
  • Concise 10-15 hour campaign length drives replayability and New Game+ engagement, suggesting AAA developers should reconsider bloated game lengths in favor of tightly paced experiences
  • Character-driven storytelling through voice acting, personality quirks, and environmental storytelling (zombies performing daily tasks) creates emotional investment that surpasses previous entries like RE7
  • Level design mastery in escape room-style puzzle solving creates organic progression where players discover solutions through environmental observation rather than hand-holding
  • The franchise has evolved into a 'Fast and Furious' model where character callbacks, set pieces, and franchise legacy moments generate excitement independent of narrative coherence

It might be two. I think by definition, it was not Wednesday. You know what? It was close enough to one sitting. I was really proud of y'all for what you did. We battled through it. And so I'm going to sit around and hang out with Andy and Bless, and we're going to talk about their Resident Evil 9 review slash marathon experience and how they're feeling. Blessing, it's Wednesday. It is. How are you feeling? I'm feeling good. I was forced to take Monday and Tuesday off. Yep. Didn't like it. I like coming into work. I like being around the crew. I'm doing my best mic impression. We do really bad at following up days off. So we had to make sure that Monday and Tuesday were days off. Because what happens is you come into work, you're feeling good on a Monday. And then Tuesday, you're like, ooh, maybe I'm not feeling too good. That was a long marathon stream. And it's like, guess what? Your next day off, March 19th. And you're like, ah. She's like, oh, no. I'm going to die. I'm feeling good. I took a lot of naps in the last couple of days. I thought I was going to. Here's the thing. I laid out my schedule where I was like, oh, man, I'll do so many chores. I'm going to clean out the closet. I'm going to clean the microwave. I'm going to do XYZ thing. I had a list of chores that I was going to do. And then I only did like half of them. I took a whole lot of naps. So maybe I was tired from the marathon stream. Andy Cortez, you're the king of naps. You like staying in the green. No sleep dead on you. How are you feeling? I feel really good. Yeah, I feel great. I was refreshed afterwards. I got home after that marathon stream I before I left Merge those videos Prep that YouTube bod Did everybody go watch that shit again Appreciate you And then I booted up the game as soon as I got home Played more Resident Evil 9 You know I wanted to And then I realized that I forgot to like Request the game I was like I want to play more Resident Evil 9 I was like shit I don't have Resident Evil 9 We played off an 80's copy And so now Maybe I gotta look at that store Pretty neat seeing all them challenges and I'm like, oh, shoot. Oh, this is why people replay these games. New game plus. Yeah. Back in already with the wristband. Yeah. Upgrade those weapons. Pretty neat. There you go. New weapons to unlock from the start. Like, whoa, shit. A freaking... I don't want to spoil anything. It's a knife that, like, it's a really good knife. Okay. That's part of it. Okay, yeah. That's some good things. But, like, don't get excited. I'm not talking, like, it's not like a Capcom-branded knife. It's not like... It's just like a... They give you a man knife. They give you a kitchen knife? Yeah. It's just like, this thing's really durable. It's not going to break in a couple swings. Okay. Pretty cool. We're going to talk about all that and more because today's kind of funny games cast is talking about both of yours experience with the marathon stream with Resident Evil nine and your review so far, your impressions, your thoughts. I know sometimes when we do the marathon streams, it's a little bit different than just letting blessing have his time to play and soak in a game. It's a little different than Andy on the late night reviewing a game for work. So we're going to talk about all that and more. Of course, if you want to be part of the show, don't forget you can super chat right now. throughout today's gamescast over on youtube.com slash kindoffunnygames with your thoughts, opinions about Resident Evil 9, some of your favorite spooky moments, sharing it with these guys throughout that weekend. And, of course, we couldn't do this without you. So thank you to our Patreon producers over on patreon.com slash kindoffunny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm Twiner. Wow, thank you. Guys, let's jump into the topic of the show. Boys, I'm going to let you pick it. Would you like to do a review first, or do you want to talk about your experience and the fun that you had? I mean, I'd rather, I just want to talk about the game. I want to review the game. Let's talk about the game. Yeah, we can save the shenanigans for after the commercial break. Well, yeah, I mean, the shenanigans are you didn't order food, and I'm really disappointed in both of you. Why do I have to order food? Actually, no, we went to McDonald's. We went to McDonald's on day two. I ordered a lot of pizza day one. I'm not mad at Roger or anything. You know, Roger always says, no, Mike, we can't leave. I'm like, we can leave, Roger. Like, put it on the phone. Let's go have some fun. Andy and Bless are in the car driving to McDonald's. Sharing a moment, laughing, having fun. Andy ordered what looked like a Looney Tunes. Like, you know how when, like, a chef will serve something up and they'll take off the lid and it's just, like, smoking and fumes coming off of the food? He ordered 10 cookies. Yeah. And a McDonald's tote. So good. And, yeah, we revealed it. And when I tell you, this thing didn't look real. It looked like a render. That's how perfect these cookies looked. We showed Blessing's wallet as well. Yeah, my big wallet. We all know about it. I know. How do you have that in your back pocket right now? We're at work. Throw it in your desk. You don't got to keep it on me. You don't got to go awkward asking. Your tailbone and your back are just screaming right now. No, it's fine. It's fine. It makes me taller. It makes me a little taller. Now, I didn't get to actually see this specific scene up close because the computer we run it off of was like a bit of ways away. Is this the table from RE7? It sure is, yeah. You guys sat at this a number of times. Yeah, you looked great. You went into night vision mode. We'll talk about all that. Let's talk about your review. Then let's talk about resident evil nine, Andy and bless. What is your thoughts, opinions and review of Ari nine blessing? Kick us off. Yeah. Resident evil. Requiem is, I think my favorite resident evil game. It's tough. It's up there. I would say favorite. Cause I think it's the most consistent. It's the most exciting. I think it condenses the best of, a lot of the different worlds of Resident Evil, whether it be the more slower, puzzle-solving, like actual survival horror experience that you get playing as Grace, or whether it be the more campy, I almost want to say upbeat, but that's not the right word for it. But I guess more action-focused, action-heavy experience of playing as a character, like Leon, who's been around in the series for decades at this point, right? But in this game is a seasoned veteran. I think being able to balance those two things in one game led to an experience that is very well paced out when you shift between the two i have a a few problems with pacing which honestly is kind of tough to talk about in the context of me and andy passing the controller back and forth because i think the only section where i was like man this feels like it's dragging was the longer like leon section and i don't want to get heavily into spoilers maybe we can do a spoiler section later in the episode but there's like a part later in the game where i was like man i'm not as excited about what's going on here versus what was going on before when I was playing as Grace um but aside from that like if I'm sticking on the things that I I really enjoy about the game I think the the scary elements that was scary there are big fucked up babies there are there's a big spider that I didn't like right like I think the the amount of stuff they brought as far as that was really good I had a moment where I think I realized that Resident Evil for me is akin to Fast and Furious as far as it being a franchise that knows what it is doesn't take itself super duper seriously when it's nearly its set pieces it's so exciting and also it has such a history of things to pull from that'll get you hype when they bring back a certain character or when they bring back I mean I say certain characters there are multiple characters that they might bring back that make me go oh shit that person's here in a way that makes me feel like when fast and furious does the same thing and i think if i'm comparing this fast and furious right now with resident evil i think we're in the fast five fast six era of it you know i think we're in a territory where it is damn like y'all are really firing on all cylinders you guys have the formula you have the characters you have the set pieces you have the things that have me locked in into what's happening uh on screen moment to moment and so there's so much more i can say but i'll just i'll leave it at i really really really enjoyed this game uh if i'm giving it a score a number yeah yeah i'll give it a nine out of ten okay amazing out of bless right there i like that we're going to talk more about what you like and you don't like bless in just a moment but andy it's your turn uh dude yeah i'm i'm with bless this game is a nine out of ten for me this is a game that uh you know leading up to it when roger walks up to me and you know and he's like you excited for the stream and it's like yeah i am but also no because i I wasn't planning on playing this game as it was. I'm not the scary gamer. I dread these video games whenever I'm into them. They have to be super action-y in order for me to kind of stomach it and not be too scared, as documented in the many parts of the game where you have to be kind of stealthy and sneak around. I just had all the flashbacks of my childhood of just staying in the safe room and just being like, I don't want to go out there. I just hate it. These games make me feel like garbage. Resident Evil 2, for as amazing as it is, made me feel like shit the whole time. I was just pure dread nonstop. That was a game that I was so happy to be done with. And Resident Evil Requiem, I think, is such a greatest hit of all of what Capcom does so well with this franchise. I think that I think I enjoyed it more because I was with Blessing in the similar way to when we talked about how the Mortal Kombat movie really popped off for us because it was me Bless and Tim at Tim's place I forget who else is there maybe it was just us three but the those really hype moments you know getting super stoked with your friends there are so many moments like that in Resident Evil Requiem I enjoy the action the game looked freaking phenomenal and it's so many moments the game is such a technical powerhouse it capcom and re engine just continuing to showcase why they are so good at what they do and i i really enjoyed a lot of the puzzle design i think it was really well paced i could point at some nitpicks and say i would have done this a little bit shorter i would have you know maybe extended this sequence or whatever but i don't know man i think they they this really feels like the lessons learned of a lot of the most recent Resident Evil games and I really enjoyed my time with it yeah this is a this is a nine out of ten amazing for me I'm so happy I played it I I come away from this thinking like oh shit this is gonna be probably really high in our top 10 now like just thinking about how I I will be contributing to that as well you know like I just had a freaking blast with this video game and it was awesome experiencing it with the chat with people that maybe can't always afford to buy the new game or maybe just don't love playing scary games. A really cool shared experience with the community was awesome as well. So that gets you some added points. But I just think they crushed it on a design level. That's great. You bring up really quick the super chat. Christoph says, hey, you guys made my weekend with the stream. Thanks so much. Oh, nice. Thank you for watching. I want to piggyback off of Andy's review. I want to shout out three things. uh firstly this is to what andy was talking about with this game visually i this game visually looks insane um and i i think a big part of that is that we were playing off of pc and like the stream that we did was sponsored by nvidia the first six hours and so we're working off of all those bells and whistles but i from what i've read online as well sounds like on console the game looks phenomenal oh yeah especially if you're playing on like ps5 pro ps5 pro for sure yeah and like just from our experience playing on that couch. I'm blown away by how high the fidelity is on this video game. I think that's something that Capcom should be very proud of themselves for with the RE engine and how they've been able to push it game after game. So that was our first and foremost shout out. Secondly, I want to shout out Grace as a protagonist. I know there are plenty of people out there. Give it up for Grace. Give it up for Grace. I love Grace. What made her so great? Talk to me. She wasn't Ethan Winters. She was not Ethan Winters. and I was going to start off by saying there's a lot of Resident Evil characters besides and I was gonna I was gonna start off by saying I know there are Ethan Winters and Joey's out there I don't want to continue to yuck your yum because I knew I know we do every time y'all get mad every time we just didn't like Ethan Winters um and I think with a good reason but yeah I I grace for a character you talk about how there's so many Resident Evil characters yes I think there's always the balance between badass who is Leon or Chris Redfield or I forget if I even played Jill Valentine right but then you have like the characters that are more in a place of fearfulness right whether it be an Ethan Winters in Resident Evil 7 or whether it be Grace in this game and I think Grace in this game showed I think just a lot more personality I liked how much she was stuttering and stammering in her words I think that actually did for me increase the investment I had in her character just as far as damn this is somebody who's really going through it damn this is somebody with a backstory that we care about from the get-go because they're showing us oh this is what happened with her mom this is her investment in this story this is why you should care about this character um but then they also show us things throughout the story as far as like oh now she has this connection with this other character that she wants to take care of and all these things and i think that growth in her character especially when you see her character progression throughout the game and towards the end of the game it's like damn this is somebody who i really want to root for and also i just like i just really like the depiction of her character moment to moment. For me, I was like, damn, this is somebody who I want to root for. This is somebody who I like more so than Ethan Winters. Shout out to Grace. The other thing I wanted to shout out is the length of the game. I know Resident Evil games are not known to be long, especially the last few. I think being able to finish this game in one stream, quote unquote one sitting, it wasn't one sitting, but to look at our game clock and to say, I think 13 hours. I said 11. They say 11 hours doesn't seem right, which definitely is not right. But I think even regardless, if I think Tim also had a similar thing where he said it said I finished it in this time, which is definitely not right either. Yeah. And then I kind of brought up the point that, you know, Mike, when they talk about three hours of an NFL game, but 12 minutes of it is actually playing football. And I feel like maybe they're not counting when you're paused or maybe you're not. They're not counting when you're not moving or when it's not detecting. I think when we reload too, and then you die, I'm sure it reverts back to whatever that time was. Yeah, it's interesting for sure. But even regardless, when I even think about if I was to play that game again, if I was to play it by myself, or even for the first time by myself, I think I'll probably get through it in 10 hours, maybe 15. Between that 10 to 15 hour range, I would probably lean toward the 10 hours. And I think for a AAA game, that felt so concise and so paced out well. And I want to see more of that. I'm not saying that that makes my review number go higher or anything like that. I'm just saying I like the fact that that can be a thing in AAA, and I think that makes me want to replay it more. Like, the idea of getting home and being like, damn, that was a fun time with Andy. I would boot up the game and replay it right now. That is because of the length, and I think there should be something learned there, especially when we're talking about this game selling 5 million copies, right, and it being such a concise game. I think that's important. Andy, what are some shout-outs that you want to give? um i mean yeah shout out to the i think the something about leon's character this time around and i i it probably is the same actor from resident evil 4 remake it just i don't know there i was way more impressed this time around and maybe you know a lot of it is a lot of one liners and i know that's something you could kind of make fun of and just say like god damn but i I thought there were some genuinely good real moments and some great line deliveries from the voice actor. I thought the voice acting was top-notch all around. I was really impressed by it. And what else do I want to show? I mean, if we want to talk things to kind of nitpick, I feel like the restrictions we talk about sometimes games and friction can be like you can create magic with Dragon Dogma 2 and like the way the fast travel worked and them forcing you to kind of you know play the game as it designed I feel like Grace's inventory stuff was a little too restrictive. Like, I think there were, you know, maybe give us two extra slots or something like that. The badge wasn't big enough. Yeah, it wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it was like so close to being perfect. And then on the flip side of that, it's like Leon's inventory system didn't even matter. Like you, we never needed more than we had. You know, we always had, I was never worrying about slotting stuff. Every once in a while you'd hit that auto thing or whatever. And it just more felt like you're going through the motions in a way. You're kind of like, hey, remember this? Remember Leon's old kind of inventory system? We still brought that back. And it's nice to see and it's cool to play with, but I, I, I'd never, there weren't any ever, any moments where I was going like, Oh shit, man, I, I want to pick up this thing, but Leon, you know, like, so it sounds like I'm kind of complaining about graces and not, and complaining about Leon's for the opposite reason, but I just felt like there was a bit of an imbalance there. And yeah, I would say those are the main things. Barrett, I don't know if you have a quick access to it, but can, if you have the games cast game tip theme song. Cause it's a Gamescast, Game Tip, if you need help don't feel ashamed, it's a Gamescast, Game Tip, we're gonna help you out with the game. God, that's a jam, that's a jam right there. Welcome to Gamescast, Game Tip everybody. Don't destroy your coins. Got a lot of, got a lot of. You didn't see the giant cabinet was like, I want your coins boys. We didn't see it in time. We didn't get there until later. We didn't see it in time. Giant roulette table in the room. We might have walked past. They had zombies in that room. Look, here's the thing. I was distracted. Quiet room. There was no zombies in that room. You know, if I were playing that section, I would have looked at every pixel and it would have taken us seven hours in that. Blessing plays the gray sections like it's an action movie. And he's running through everything. I was locked in. Somehow Bless had a dodgeball. I didn't know how. He was cartwheeling in between zombies. And so maybe we ran by that area to upgrade things. And then at one point found something and we're like, what can we get rid of? And Bless is like, destroy the coins. We got like plenty in our storage. So we did that. But, you know, we didn't. We were collecting so many at the start of the game. It felt like there wasn't any extra coins to you. It was just the perfect amount of coins to unlock all four. And if you maybe used them or maybe you deleted them, like in your case, you won't have enough. Somehow in the first two hours of the game, we found every single coin and didn't find the thing to spend the coins on. So it felt like, oh, they're just going to throw coins at you. We need space in our inventory. We're going to get showered in coins like Mario. Yeah, exactly. So just get rid of some coins. We don't need these things. Turns out we need them. I enjoyed watching you guys. It was pure panic. It was a marathon stream. So there was a lot going on. But yeah, I was wondering, do they notice that there's a giant cabinet that's a storefront here in front of them? as I watched you guys just run amok in that first area. I know we're saving the marathon stream portions, but to talk about it, man, I've never wanted to grab the controller out of somebody's hands so fast as when I'm watching Andy play Grace's segments. You gotta be careful, Blessing. When I tell you, one of the things I noticed early on was chat being like, damn, Blessing's playing this game crazy, because when I started Grace's segment, legit like i went through i went through certain parts of i'll say the west wing and like was just running through right and my goal was missing the store missing the store but like my part my i've played these games before so i know what i'm doing right i'm like i'm just gonna unlock the map so that i can see like i want to see the full picture and then map out like where i'm gonna go um and so like i'm doing all these things i'm like downloading the the paths i'm doing all these things right and like i hand over the the controller and andy at some point to play and when i tell you like watching andy just tiptoe around these places again retread the same areas and then realizing that i'm like oh i have to be google maps you gotta be my maps i gotta be i gotta be the maps because there are so many things oh put a fucking radar up resident evil there's a giant map button it pauses the game you can play it up whatever you want i do too much that's why they don't that's why they're mad at me but i don't but i don't think you're doing it too much I do it too much. I just keep on losing where I'm at, Mike. That's my favorite part about it. Take a right. Take a right and then a left. You talk about level design, Andy, all the time. You and Bless now, especially with Dark Souls. But over the past couple of years now playing all these Resident Evil games, Capcom is masters at level design. They have dialed in the escape room horror maze to a T, where it is always fun to get a little nibble of the cheese. Oh, there's a locked door. how am i gonna get that wristband oh here it is i gotta get this okay now i gotta go back over there oh they gave me a key where does this key go all the way over there i'm not going that way anytime soon yeah ah shit i'm going that way now like so much fun and i love that stuff because it is they are it almost feels like they're making a an escape room for game designers where they if you notice the thing then you know that you can get this like you you start to put the pieces together if you've been here before and for me it felt so satisfying for like the grace sections that feel like this is true survival horror escape room ass shit and i love that stuff um i i want to talk about like the longer leon section because i'm actually have more questions for you because i let you play most of that section well let's talk about the longer leon section right after a word from our sponsors where we're going to go a little bit deeper into the game. We're going to avoid spoilers, but this is going to start to tread into the back half of the game, a little bit of the later part. So now is your warning of like, when you come back, be prepared. We're probably going to talk about near the end of the game, the back half of the game with some things, but we'll try our best not to spoil it for you. See you in a moment. I'm very excited because we still have so much to talk about. I want to acknowledge one thing for chat. Tell me. Because people keep mentioning how I was spamming the healing. and I can't stress this enough. It was Andy's controller. There was something about that button that was so easy to press. What kind of controller was it? Well, they had it on the R1 button. It was a very interesting spot for the healing of when you are getting attacked, you have the injector piece now. So it's just a simple R1 press. I totally get it, but it's a button that's used maybe not for healing most of the time in video games. There was one time where I accidentally banged the mic stand with the controller and it healed. I'm like, I can't do anything. But there was also like you wanting to melee and going on fucking healing. Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, that happened a million times. It happened a lot. It happened a lot. I also did not know that Grace had a cover system. See people in chat talking. Did they ever use Grace's cover system? We saw somebody say that in chat. We walked up to a wall to try to activate this lean. Never saw it. It never worked for it. Yeah. And so, yeah, I just thought maybe they were trolling us. I don't know. So we just. She has a soft lean that you shoot her anyway, you know, and kind of look around corners kind of position yourself really useful with the baby and the the tall lady running around it's like just kind of an opportunity to be like am i supposed to go this way or do i have to wrap all the way around right now that's what you want to do i mean i don't feel like really we really needed it i mean you guys did great some gamers yeah come on gamers aside from all the healing like i feel like we i wasn't even on keyboard mouse can you imagine my game would have been over like andy brought up the inventory system and kind of feeling like i'm always full with grace And that is kind of the point to not be overwhelmed with space, but to have a lot of things because that's where you're doing most of the crafting. In most Resident Evil games, you'll have the crafting system. This time they went to the blood where you would suck up blood with the blood injector and then craft systems. What did you guys think of that? I didn't love it. It felt like an additive thing that they could have accomplished the crafting system without that part of it. Did you notice no blue or red herb? Right, it was just green. Yeah, just green. So like minimal. You had the gunpowder stuff like that, but it wasn't like a bunch like in other Resident Evil games where you're really piling it all together. It seemed very streamlined and minimal, which was nice to me. Yeah, I think my, I kept going back and forth on it. I think I've landed to where I like the system. I just want them to tweak it a bit. One of the main things I didn't like is that it's the same icon for where there's any item, you know, or any like thing that you can pick off a body. Hated that. And so, like, if you're in a fast-paced moment, you kill a zombie, and it's like, oh, man, okay, hopefully they have some heals on them. Oh, snap, he's got a key or something. The amount of times I told Bless, what is that? Oh, blood, okay. Oh, it's more blood. And then the one time I didn't check it was after killing a big enemy, and then somebody saying, oh, you didn't pick up that thing from them. And I was like, I thought it was a stupid blood after telling Blessing every time to check the thing, and it just being a puddle of blood or whatever. The blood icon should be red. It should have been a different shape or a different thing to denote that, hey, if you don't need blood, don't look at this. Ignore this icon or whatever. 100%. That was one thing that did kind of bother me. But yeah, as far as the... It's not that I didn't mind the crafting. I like crafting stuff in games. I don't think we utilized it nearly as much as we needed to. It was just the idea of like... You know, the lore is goofy anyway, but it was just the idea of getting blood. Like, how does blood do this? I'm just going to suck up the blood from the floor. Oh, they just have buckets of blood everywhere. Which I believe. It was just kind of funny also. It was just a new interesting system right there. It was fun to maybe in like the early to middle part of the game. Like right when you got out of the early part and you started to understand it, you would start to notice like buckets of blood are everywhere or like certain areas. I got to circle back there really quick. I got to top this off because I want to make sure I can get a new EpiPen for the heels. I want to make sure I can get, God forbid, I need four more bullets to my pistol because I'm fighting for every gunshot I've ever had. The Requiem, I mean, shout out to the Requiem gun. The greatest. I love that. I noticed that you guys held off on using it a little bit more than I wanted to, but you were taking some shots with it, which I like. I can serve things. I noticed that it's like, I can use it twice against an enemy and miss both shots. Which is why I can serve it. Which is why I'm like, I'm going to put this over here for when I actually need it. I noticed myself early in the game. I was like, I have to conserve this shot. Like, this is so important. And then I was like, no, this is clearly here for you to use it. Use it right. So it was like, how can I take out two to three enemies at once? How can I back up one of the larger enemies, give myself a little bit of play to get out of there? But it was fun watching you guys decide when and when not to shoot that gun. That was one thing I wish that I had realized while playing it was I looked at the challenges list, which is like, I just love that in metagame sort of aspect of it. And one of the challenges was like get a collat, like kill two or more enemies with one child. Oh, I didn't realize that the Requiem actually did that because for me it was just try to hit the head, you know. And I would like to go back and experiment with just like shooting in the knee. I hated as much as I love an RE4, shoot the knee of the dude and then swipe at him with the knife to conserve the bullets. the idea like swiping them while they're on the ground just was not super intuitive it didn't ever feel good it didn't feel like they ever wanted you to do that i kind of wish they didn't let you because it was so unsatisfying i wish it was i wish you were just like not allowed to swipe it at enemies or whatever and maybe it's just the last of us where your your shiv is just your get out of jail free card you know yeah but the fact that it did let you swipe at enemies and you rarely ever did so with uh you know with any accuracy was really annoying yeah leon was like oh i'm swiping with this axe yeah he's stronger he gets the crazy fatality cut scene which we got to talk about as well those were pretty bad yeah but like yeah never felt good as grace it felt like oh there's a leon thing right here did appreciate the purple syringe in the back of the neck that would blow him up oh yeah that added to a nice stealth gameplay there i liked that a lot yeah i thought that would come in more as they started to reveal more about the infected and like how you deal with certain types of infected i thought it would be a thing of like okay whenever we see these guys we got to inject them with the thing i feel like we didn't do that as much and i don't know if that was just like our happenstance of maybe not having enough of those things versus when we saw those enemies i think i honestly you would use those to blow up the heads yeah because if the crab heads exploded and bled on other zombies they would then be yeah so your goal was like to take out their head. I just feel like we never had the injection and saw the crab heads at the same time. I would get frustrated. There was two moments where, oh, this is where they want us to creep up behind. Zombie turns around. I'm crouched, and I'm barely touching this left stick, and zombie turns around and notices me. And that happened twice. And I was like, all right, well, I don't know if this shit even works, honestly. I did like the, you know, you would either shoot the zombie in the head, then you could go to push them, or there was the option to, if you don't want to push them, then you can inject them. I never got to the injection thing because the one time it popped up, I was just like in a panic and I just did what I normally would do is just the sort of pushing mechanic. But once you push them, I would like, you know, essentially pushing them on the ground is just a nice way to shoot them in the head because the swiping just is so 50-50. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And it's mainly just a moment to kind of run away is what it kind of felt like. You're not really like, Grace, fucking step on them. You know, use your hit them with this, that fucking jar on the ground. I wonder, like, we should have tried that in third person to see what it looked like. Yeah. Because I wonder if that was the thing where they like figured out the mechanic in third person and had to just be like, oh, in first person, you're just not reaching. How to aim or something. Yeah. Because I'm sure in third person, you're just like, yeah, we'd probably be able to see it better. Mike, you call them crab heads? Yeah. So, I mean, that's a Half-Life reference is why I'm calling them the Crabheads. Oh, okay, okay. Because in Half-Life they look like that, but the Blisterheads, yeah. Let's talk about the monsters, right? So a couple of fun things from the preview and into this that people have talked about is like the zombies this time around kind of doing their daily tasks like you saw with the maid cleaning up the windows. They're speaking a little bit, but not like crazy amounts, but they're speaking small sentences. They're doing their normal activities. You saw the Crabhead, which is the double infected right there and what that can lead to. What did you guys think of some of the zombie movements, lifestyle, and the enemies on screen? I love the infected. I like the different types this time around. It was actually so fun when we came back in for, like, day two of it. We were hanging out in the gallery where you can unlock the different models for different characters and enemies. And it was fun just to go through and be like, oh, yeah, this thing over here. I wish we saw this guy more. But, oh, yeah, like you had the, I guess I don't want to say all of them. But I like the variety of them. I like going in and being like, you have the tiers of, all right here your basic tier infected here a riff on that here one that maybe if they grab you it gonna be trouble for this reason here another one that is the big enemy of it and like when we get into the east wing and you see the big enemy when i tell you that is such a good resident evil moment like copyright resident evil moment like that was our biggest jump scare that was definitely our biggest one i guess my biggest one might have been the spider but that was like a prolonged like you know 15 minute long oh i hate it yeah i hate it um but yeah i really like the infected this time around i one of the things i want to point out too i feel like resident evils have the thing where the infected are when they first introduce the infected in the game they feel smarter than they get later on in the game because when we first start to see them um as leon remember like when they had the chainsaw and like they would like slither on the ground with the chainsaw and it's like whoa and then we never see that again like i i feel like that happens in these games um a little bit where i'm like early on it's like damn these guys these guys go crazy and then they just become regular like very quickly on um but still like not not really a big complaint just the thing that i noticed interesting yeah i mean there's a couple of them that shoot guns at you right and then oh yeah the chainsaw there's only like a couple of chainsaw parts right so you don't get to see the the i took it as just like the zombie is incapable of lifting this up because it's bent down oh yeah and over and so it's just kind of riding it you know yeah yeah the chainsaw's taking it for a ride it's not taking the chainsaw yeah right you know somebody does say you do see that again so i think we might just yeah and so yeah that's an interesting one i'm glad that you like the zombies i think the zombies here were like the perfect resident evil zombies i like that they kind of talked just a little bit i like that they did oh turn the light off turn the light on yeah I like that they still almost were human-esque, but also clearly zombies. I thought that was good, you know? Yeah, you could hear that. You could get the vibe of the human behind the zombie, where they would apologize to you as they're, like, trying to kill you. You know, like, you could feel the human is still somewhere there trying to fight through, and, like, I think that's great personalization. I think, you know, when I think when we were watching that sort of review or when we were watching that reveal, I made the comparison to how The Last of Us Part II added, Eric, where are you, Eric? Like, you know, adding just somebody's name makes it feel a little bit more personal. And I think that was awesome for this because they really, really went a lot harder on every one of these dudes. Like, their whole job is their life. Yeah, no, we're making fun of that. I'm like, yeah, like you're a zombie and all you're talking about is your- You're still talking about work. Yeah, you're talking about work. Like, you ain't got a family. You don't have dreams and passions. You're the cook, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really enjoyed that. Let's get a little bit deeper here into the, you know, I don't want to call the spoilery side of things. So right now, if you don't want to be spoiled, like fully spoiled, you can step away. We're going to try to keep it as spoiler free as possible, but we are going to talk a little bit about the later sections here, kind of the middle section in particular that Bless wants to address. I do want to talk about and hear your guys' thoughts on that. it has been clearly shown now but like yeah here's your warning starting now outer raccoon city what did you think of it bless yeah this is what i want to talk about because i again i let i played parts of this right but i think i let andy play probably the bulk of it and i part of that too for me was just that i was not as engaged during that part and it might have been me just being tired during the stream because that was later on in the night but i'm curious for andy like you know playing as leon for that extended period of time right we get the wristband that is like now you rack up kills to get points to buy more guns i'm like oh this is a different game now yeah and like for me i think i was way more invested in the grace stuff because that felt a bit more i guess just overall interesting to me that was the play style that i identify with more because of the horror and because of the methodical all right gotta dodge this i gotta solve this possible i gotta run away i gotta do this thing um and i kind of like the leon segments as kind of like intermissions between getting back to grace but then yeah you have that longer segment where it is all right out of raccoon city you are playing as leon for an extended period of time like andy how did that hit for you god the memes have been so great of just grace gameplay and it's just a video of a horror movie a woman like running through hallways terrified and then leon gameplay it's just john wick in a club yeah um i i think you know um when it comes to gameplay a lot of those parts can be a little they can be extended more than you might feel like they are and i think a lot of that just comes down to me not navigating shit well me trying to concentrate while trying to stream while trying to entertain while also sleepy and all that extends the play time i think that area was just longer because i'm i'm already like not great at navigating shit when i'm playing games and when i'm streaming them multiply that times a million you know like it just gets worse right and that's why you know all those frustrations could be looked at it's like no i i think if you were to just play this off stream it would have probably gone a lot smoother um but the exploration of those zones i thought was pretty neat i thought you know there were a lot of unlockables having this kind of open ish zone was pretty neat um the reveal story wise i i wish we did more in the dilapidated mansion but i understand why you wouldn't because it's kind of just gone at this point yeah but the you know pd yeah or rpd yeah rpd okay um but the the overall sort of city layout having this kind of almost metroidvania you got to find the thing to unlock the thing that gets you to the next part of the map was pretty neat um i enjoyed a lot of that spot a lot of that comes down to it being leon action gameplay with all the one-liners that are just cheesy as hell to make you smile because it's it's he's just a badass you know i really enjoyed that section for me but i think a lot of that was us just kind of being tired probably like i i noticed the energy waning because it was late at night and we'd be on camera already for about 12 hours or whatever and then once i handed you the controller you perked up because you're like all right now i gotta play yeah and i'm awake and then we started like okay that's that's where you know maybe when you're just kind of watching somebody play you just started to kind of like zone out a little bit and get a little bit tired but i i really enjoyed those sections oh yeah yeah i didn't love it i thought it i thought it lasted a little too long they're blessed for me personally uh i mean the mortar encounter uh it just it felt like this was the filler it felt a little different of like coming hot off of like here is the horror section of this to this is the video game video game section of it right kill as many jabronis as you can get a bunch a bunch of points i had so many points upgraded every single gun there was have bought everything possible right and so like i didn't love it right but i i found my enjoyment in it but i was very excited to be like let's get out of this part let's get back on track and then they immediately pick you up by going on the motorcycle and it was like the coolest moment ever yeah that's the thing is they they quickly turned me around for me it was more of like i well i'm upgrading these guns and i want to use these guns so i'm glad you're giving me things to shoot at i think the navigation and the sort of layout could have been you know a little bit easier to understand, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I just liked having a lot more targets to shoot at, and then figuring out that I could use the mortar to kill the guys. I could definitely, I see the complaints of it, like, hey, maybe about 15% shorter, you know? Yeah, maybe one out of the three legs, let's cut. You know what I mean? It was a three-part section. It was like, okay, maybe two, maybe two and a half. You know what I mean? It just felt kind of long. Break it up with a little grace cut. But then you'd have some cool moments when you're on the side of the skyscraper with the glass windows, and you're shooting panels out. That's the part I was most jealous of not playing. I want to replay that shit. That one could have been a little bit longer. That's like when you watch the first Resident Evil movie and they have the cool laser sequence. That was like, if we extended this gameplay-wise and I could shoot more glass, that would be fun. An awesome set piece. That's the highlight of the whole city for me. Yeah, I feel like I almost would have preferred if they kept the action set pieces to Leon. But if we're going to hang out in an area and do the all right now grab the thing metroidvania style like let that be more of a a grace thing because that feels like more that feels like i don't know there's something about maybe it's the environment maybe there's something there's something about being in raccoon city for that time period that made me look around and be like man this looks brown this reminds me of like a ps3 era kind of environment of like everything is just dirt and brown and like maybe i you know i think part of that too is i really like the interior design that they have in these games especially this one uh the mansion is cool where we go toward like the very end of the game super cool but outside just wasn't speaking to me as much of course yeah hit by a nuclear bomb so there's dust and all that the cobwebs i did think that rpd looked great though like the dilapidated police station still looked very good that shit was so good but yeah it was it was very pretty gray in tone on all of that that that section is right yeah but like again i didn't it's not one that I'd say I disliked or hated or anything. I think it's just that coming off of the grace stuff, I felt like that was so strong. And even Leon getting his wristband of accumulate the points, that's where I come back to the Fast and Furious thing of like, okay, now I just can't take this seriously. This is hilarious, but also makes it fun, right? This has now turned into an arcade experience in a way that I respect. For the RE6 heads out there, I really enjoyed it. There you go. You enjoyed that? Good, good, good. What else, boys, do you want to talk about? I mean I kind of want to guide you towards the ending and the decision since we're in the spoiler area but what else are we missing I mean the villain characters so cool Gideon that's my guy what's up with him what's up with Big V and Big Z I will say Victor Gideon was very good at the beginning and all the way throughout but he was intimidating he was scary he had some great moments I like that they brought him back around because I think when I look at past Resident Evil, especially Resident Evil Village, I thought when Gideon, now they were in spoilers, right? I thought when Gideon was gone, I thought he was gone. Because we did that with Lady Dimitris. We did that with a lot of the main stuff there. I thought it was going to be, now Zemo is the thing, and we're going to reveal him to be Wesker. Now he's the ultimate villain of this game. The fact that they brought Victor back around, and they're like, no, this is the final boss. Love that. But also, got way more questions about Zeno. I like that. It was just a choke out. You know what I mean? to just get a hold of him. You're like, oh no! This guy's eight feet tall. He's asleep. So tall. Why is he so tall? Or you just had a normal science lab when you're that tall. You just got to be in the NBA at that point. How about the final decisions? You guys went back and forth. I like the final decisions. Did you like having a decision at the end of it all? You know, at first I wasn't into it. When they first presented the decision, I was like, no, just tell me the story. Just tell me the story. after we went back and watched both of them it's very clear that they're like no there is a right decision and that's that one i'm fine with because it is i like the subversion of hey you're gonna have to make a decision here but the decision that you think is the right one actually isn't the right one if you're paying attention yeah right like um what's the spencer had regrets in what he was what he was doing you got to see that as grace and so now when you're making the thing of you know do we keep uh elpis w piss elpis right like what was your interpretation of that story i actually do like how they did that um in retrospect now that we're looking looking back at it still a bit thrown off by the timeline like i was still had questions by the end of it okay it's like you know they were all clones of grace oh but i think we determined they weren't yeah but you flashback and you were Chloe pre grace existing. So I was like, so who the, so grace was just never a clone. It kind of just read to me like they were just doing the, like the, Hey, you're not Ray. You were, you're not a Jedi at all. You're not a Skywalker. You're not a whatever. You know what I mean? You're just a normal ass girl. I don't know. I was kind of just kind of confused by the timeline. The whole clone thing. Yeah. feels unsatisfied in a way that i wonder if there's dlc because between that and between uh zemo like zeno zeno fuck between that and zeno not being revealed to be a wesker clone explicitly like maybe that's just a that's a big if you know you know but like maybe it's part 10 i think 10 is going to be like doesn't make it through though right but there's clones of him you know like oh yeah well we're fighting an army of westers you think i think we will just have like the big you know i i think he will likely be the big bad you know oh my god all of chris redfield's dudes having the fur around their collar showed up so cool but then at the end end when the wolf pack was there that was so cool yeah oh yeah yeah yeah because like chris shows up with his crew but then there's an even more evil crew that shows up and they're like we're here in the hole let's get it and you're like oh what are they getting what are they getting did i say chloe i meant you did don't worry about it wait is that not her name it's who well grace is the main character i believe that's grace is the flashback that you're thinking of you could you said it was chloe's flashback i believe that's great but i think we're saying chloe because it was like 1990 and like the little orphan girl at the beginning yeah yeah yeah I took that as that's Grace. That's what I thought it was. No, but it existed prior to her even living. She's not old enough to be. Yeah, because then Grace would be like 36 years old. The orphan is Chloe. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Nailed it. Who the hell is Chloe? That's part of the confusion that I was having. Yeah. I didn't know who it was either, Mike, until we see. Chloe's the little girl that you save? No Chloe's a clone of the little girl I'm pretty sure The little girl's a clone of Chloe Because in that That's Emily Emily is the clone In that flashback We didn't know who it was either Mike Until in that flashback Homeboy what's his name The guy who created the T-virus Spencer You just see someone go Chloe And your character turns around That's so crazy you say that Because I took it as that's Grace Grace, because Grace as a child was found by Wesker and then given to the mother who then raised Grace. Found by Spencer. Yes. Yeah. We all thought that. In that flashback, we were like, oh, yeah, look at this. We were just shown, Wesker just showed us all these clones. Yeah. We are the main, you know, we're the main source of all the clones or whatever. and the flashback starts and we're like oh we're playing as grace's little girl or whatever we're in the orphanage and then we're looking at the timelines and we're like wait and then chat's telling us no chloe was born or a grace was born several years later yeah because grace is like in her 20s yeah as we're playing the game takes place in 2026 and the calendar says 1990 i think that was just a way to for us to be revealed that grace isn't the original yeah chloe is the original These are clones. And that Grace is just a normal-ass person. A normal-ass person. Even though Grace looks a lot like these clones for some reason. But that doesn't matter because she's no white hair, though. No platinum blonde hair. Or no silver hair. Yeah, no silver hair. No silver hair. Grace has got the platinum blonde hair. You guys have only confused me more, so I'll go watch a little bit. You've only confused me even more. Grace is regular shmegular. That's all you need to know. Yeah. She's regular. So you're telling me the mother had a normal child? Grace never had any. No, no, no, no, no. Spencer found this. Spencer gave Grace to Alyssa. Where did Spencer find Grace? That's a good question. He just found Grace. Maybe he kidnapped her. I don't know. You got out of the scary orphanage. You climbed up into the mother nest They found the little girl gave her to Spencer He then had the little girl But then that wouldn explain him holding it like this when the baby was four feet tall And the thought is that he gave Grace Elpis to be like, I don't want you to ever get hurt in the future. So she gets bit by a couple of Zambos. She does. She already has the Elpis. She got the Elpis. Yeah. And we thought she was the source of it all. So when did he give it to Grace? Because Grace wasn't in there. When was your little baby? So he did have Grace as a baby Like he had her But he didn't have her have her but he had her He was in that cutscene When he had the little baby We're all over the place You've lost me even more You remember the ending cutscene Before you go and make the decision Where it is Alyssa interviewing Spencer He has Grace Exactly and I thought that baby was the baby From the underground tunnel in the orphanage No Yes, that's where we're getting confused. Or I'm getting confused. Yeah, yeah. But that orphanage sequence, how scary was it, Amy? Oh, my God. It was pretty awesome. It was pretty awesome. It was pretty freaky. Pretty freaky deaky for sure. I would say my favorite sequence of all of them, my favorite sequence of all the gray stuff, it's so hard to beat that intro. I think that is such a tone setter. The, like, with the child or whatever, the big monster lady. Oh, yes. The girl. The girl. The girl. the girl the that i think that sequence is just like which one kind of pitch perfect just sneaking around and encountering in but not the basement encountering the girl for the first time it's like oh yeah so damn good as a tone setter and figuring out what this world is and what the rules are and then and dude that's noticing the zombies being like turn off the lights because they are kind of programmed to know that you know hey the girl doesn't like the lights around here like man that was the demo that was the demo they kept showing for like a full year right where me me and tim played it uh during gamescom i played it again uh at nintendo in new york like they they had such like confidence in just that section and obviously like they're right about it because we came me and tim came back and we're like yo this could be this could be one of the greatest games ever right terrifying shit just such an excellent section of the game and i'm with you that i think you know that's definitely up there for my favorite sections i mean the stuff with the the big babies big baby headshot in the baby with the with the wreck was awesome but fighting the baby as leon in that those tight corridors a little addict was awesome as hell the way that that playground and the way that those the level evolved because the baby's destroying this let me break through this wall and it's going to create a new section for leon to walk through knock down this wall there's a ladder that leon can now access all of that stuff was just so brilliantly designed that it is so it's not noticeable to the naked eye of what's happening and why this shit's so genius but it is and they're fun as hell even the way the baby like well stuff itself in the door was the thing that caught my eye i was like damn yeah this thing is so excellently animated and then yeah like when you actually kill it and to see it deflate in the blood or whatever it is squirting out of it oh my god i still want i still want leon to have a little dodge roll not a dodge roll but just a yeah he doesn't have that give him a little side you know like a guy i still i still kind of get frustrated at just the the way it looks visually in those final boss moments where victor you know puts purple electricity on the ground and i as leon have to kind of just turn slowly and jog away and it's like yeah dude i've seen you do the most crazy shit of all time like you shouldn't be just jogging like you're kind of just you know getting to your car because you need to get you're late for work or whatever it's just there's that it's kind of like a something's something doesn't match up here i need you to be a little bit more active and you know give me a little little dodgy to shout out some more of my favorite parts yeah i know we mentioned the motorcycle chase was so fun uh definitely one of my favorite just like zombie dogs looked great zombie dogs that's one of the ones where i was mentioning as we're going through the character model thing like to see the zombie dogs i'm like man i wish i wish we saw more of you Unlimited ammo was nice, too, because you're just spraying. They could have had an awesome zombie dog moment in RPD. I wish they would have done that. I wish they would have had a moment of the callback to the zombie dogs in RPD crashing through the window. Yeah, look at them. Look at them. Jesus. I wish those moments weren't just saved for that highway chase. Yeah. It does kind of bum me out we didn't get to. Well, the RPD, they had the jabroni for that one. Mr. X? He had his moment. That was his. That was definitely another one I wanted to shout out. His entrance was big time. That's an explosive, like, holy shit, this is amazing. That's what I mean when I say Fast and Furious. Yeah. Where I'm like, this is the equivalent of Han showing up again. Everybody had their moment, right? Like, for me, I was like, man, we're really going to go without any liquors in here? And they brought back the liquors. That's going to show up. And then, of course, they had them. Everyone showed up for this. It was like the Avengers. Dude, the visuals of being in this ultra high-tech arc facility, opening a door, and it's just wood finished. Dude, oh. God damn. Like, the art direction of the game is so cool. Art direction, environment design is so good. And it feels effortless. Like, you're, yeah, when you open up the door and you have, like, the, damn, this looks like a different building. And you walk through, and then you get into the elevator, and we're back to, like, the sleek-looking environment. Like, they just know what they're doing here. and Westworld up in this thing. Yeah. Westworld was Westworld. Yeah, dude, for sure. And the engine is just like, the game looks so good as you're doing all that. The lighting looks incredible. Shout out to Jessica Hinkle with a $50 super chat says, you guys did such a great job with the stream. Being able to focus is rough when you have these jabronis starting shenanigans about dreams and gym shorts, but you guys nailed the balance of it. It was so fun. Love the reactions. Love the game. Thank you, Jessica Hinkle for your very, very generous super chat there. It's called producing. Yeah. Mike and Roger had a job that was to make sure they went the distance, Jess. So we had to slow them down. We had a job. Yeah. The final day, it was kind of perfect the way it all netted out by the end of it, because we wanted to, we knew how long we had on the stream. I was like, I think we're going to beat this pretty soon. Everybody in chat is telling us you, you're going to have like that and more. So, you know, going to McDonald's, getting some, getting some cookies. Roger was on the, Roger was on the slack the whole time, telling him speed up, slow down, try to get some time in here. And the guys nailed it. This is what I want. Is there such thing as a blind Resident Evil speedrun? Because whenever Resident Evil 10 comes out, put me up against somebody. Just try to run it. Yeah, just run it. You've not played this game before. How fast can you beat this Resident Evil game? Yeah, easy. Because I feel like I got it in me. Because let me tell you, I was seeing the Matrix's grace, man. I was seeing the Matrix. You were seeing something, Blaine. I was watching. He's making the first perfect situation, Blaine, that we could call back to. You and the chef inside the kitchen You clearly are supposed to slowly push that Giant pile of meat Forward 40 feet Without him noticing You immediately push it once He sees you and you go Ah shit I don't know what's going on now It's called entertaining the audience It's called entertainment And I came back I pushed the cart I fucking zoom around him That's what I'm like John Madden You want the telestrator Like here's the moment You're supposed to eat this Blessing down Go to the side place And the message you came back He's like Oh man I thought I was had the push dad and everyone was like he pushed out of the way for you yeah that's great Kobe aren't with a $20 super chat says started my third playthrough of the game the longer Leon section felt long on first run but after my speed run I realized that it's well paced it feels long because of how open it is compared to how enclosed the clinic is thank you for your $20 super chat will you go back and have a second run now that we're talking about speed runs you talk about second runs will you to go back no no I I want to go back to the levels and just play them on keyboard mouse because I love a third person shooter and I just love aiming and you know, hitting shots and I want to see what it's like to actually hit somebody in the knee because that's something we just didn't even try to do once. Yeah, I'm such a headshotter. Shooting their legs off was awesome, man, especially with the crab people. It's like if you shot their legs off, they'd fall over. You get on top of them. They did a really good job with that or some of the brutality in this game. Holy cow. Shooting thing in the in the head and their mouth ripping off was like wow this is crazy stuff super gross shit yeah yeah yeah i don't know if i'll go back if it was like if we played on my save i don't know if they have a level select but if they did i'd probably mess around with that stuff they don't no no damn yeah that is kind of a bummer that that was one thing i was kind of bummed out to see what did you think about new game plus though you don't start with all of your guns but you're able to buy all the guns and new guns off the bat what do you think about that really cool shit i mean it's so enticing to want to go back. Because initially my thought was, I want to just download the mods to just get everything for free. And then seeing how the challenges are laid out and how you're getting the currency for looking at all the 3D models. So doing that and then getting currency to then go, oh shit, I can buy this thing. And so the Grace thing that I unlocked was an unbreakable shiv that she has the whole time. Oh, that's cool. And that's a neat little thing to have. And maybe I could worry about crafting ammo and grenades or whatever the hell instead of wanting to craft shivs and things like that. I don't know. I think it's brilliant, and it obviously makes a lot of sense that people always replay these games. People love going back for challenges, and it's kind of just perfectly designed for that, for the speedrunner in mind. Again, it makes me wonder why we don't see more direct Resident Evil clones. I know, obviously, they exist, whether it be something like Kronos or Dead Space or even like Last Whisper, But I feel like Resident Evil has it on like such a, hey, again, shorter experience, 10 to 15 hours. Our players love replaying these games. And obviously, whether it be critical reception, whether it be sales reception, right? Like we're killing it on all fronts. And a lot of it comes down to, hey, we got the stuff as far as making a solid, big horror escape room. I'd love to see more AAA developers try that. I think they have a formula here that obviously like is carried by resident evil as well just being an ip and characters that people love and all this stuff but man like this is such a as i'm playing this game i'm like man this is such a game this is such a refined well designed like they got a formula here that just works um i it makes me it makes me uh uh have that feeling of i can't wait for the next one but also i wonder like what do you guys want out of resident evil 10 question bless yeah what do you want what do you want next? I want more of 10 or more of nine. I want these really slowies or slowly, these really slow, scary moments with the cheese and the silly action. Like I think that balance is so awesome to me. I know some people either they want to separate church and state. I totally understand that because I'm not a core RE fan. I, you know, I, my first one that I ever played was RE6, I believe, like the first complete one, you know. I'm not talking about the times that I rented RE2 and like never beat it as a kid or whatever, but yeah, I don't know. I love this balance. I love the entertainment factor is so high with this sort of format. You want to play maybe three, two, or four? Where are you at on the timeline on how many games you've played here? I want to, it makes me want to go back and beat four. Okay. Because I gave up on four. I thought I was way further into it than I was, but I think I stopped around halfway through just because I kind of fell out of love with what was going on. And I know it's like, you know, one of the highest rated games of all time, but this definitely made me want to go back and beat four because of just how much fun I had in those Leon sections. Just super fun. Super cheesy. Three maybe? One night? Three being super short and having a dodge is like awesome. It's more on the action side. Kill Valentine's. It's all about acting. You're dodging from enemies. Yeah, yeah. that shit yeah i'm excited to see what they do with it because i obviously they set things up toward the end here i would imagine that chris redfield is the playable actiony character which makes me wonder do we not play as leon in the next one because i still want them to have that balance to andy's point i want it to be i want i still want to have that grace like slow methodical i want to feel terror you know what i mean and like obviously there's we there are two different resident evils out there that they've been able to pull into one you have the action game and you have the scary survival horror game um are they gonna make you feel meek enough do they yeah we're gonna how do they do that we're gonna make you scared here's a four-foot woman you're gonna play or here's ethan winters like that's how they make you feel scared and defenseless in a lot of these moments i think they would have to if you are gonna play as you know as uh leon kennedy you'd have to be like old man leon kennedy yeah old 30 years from now fragile just old as hell like or maybe he's just i don't know something you know maybe there were side effects from the you know the the elpis or whatever yeah yeah i'm so curious to see how they if they even try to strike that balance or if they're just like screw it we're going full action here but like i feel like that's what went wrong the last time they did that right because isn't that where we got RE5 and RE6 that people didn't love. Yeah, and then like you came back to horror with seven. Yeah. And then eight was a blend. Eight had a blend. It was a little more, I would call it more on the action side, but it was a blend. I don't think the world was ready for five or six. I think that's what it was. No, what it comes down to is like, you know, there's the main things that are different between the gameplay of six and the Leon action gameplay parts are we have come so far when it comes to mechanics and things feeling good in video games and the action of shooting an enemy like re4 kind of nailed that action part of it and then they said what if we add co-op what if we make it you know i think that you could still do a very heavy action video game like we saw with re4 remake i think they if they want to do that they would have to go like another full ass re4 remake style video game if it's going to be 10 if it's only going to be leon yeah or if you're swapping perspective with chris redfield or whatever the hell um or get a get what's your face uh what is ethan winter's daughter's name she's scary looking though ethan winter's daughter i think so yeah oh is she i thought she was just a regular thinking of his wife his wife is scary looking that's probably true yeah but i feel like his daughter we they were teasing something in the post credits of village i forget what it's been long enough now but they're like dlc for that as well oh rose rose yeah every rose because it could be rose and chris redfield being playable for resident evil 10 what about claire up square back claire redfield which one which one was she it's been i've not played re1 from two oh claire player and leon are the stars of two yes yes yes ah yes yes yes of course what if i told you i never played the second playthrough of two People wanted me to, and I was like, no, fuck you.
